Our Position Has Been Compromised

So I watched it all back. All I can say is, I stand behind everything I said. Dilana was awesome! So was Lukas and Ryan. My choice for the bottom three... Toby, Storm and Magni. There. I said it. Unapologetic. That's just what I think! As for "what's with all the Dilana love?" Nothing. She got torn apart more than any other performer on the show for her off stage behavior. On stage, however, I have no problem with her. I don't pick apart her songwriting skills, or anyone's for that matter, because that is not part of my job. Tonight on "Mother, Mother" she seriously kicked ass while rocking the Flying V, Zombie-like hair and banging her head on the mic... Right up my alley! Dirty, nasty and unafraid. I said it was the best in two seasons. Maybe THAT was a little enthusiastic, but I honestly felt that way at the time, and still do come to think of it. If you keep asking me why I liked it, I'll keep answering and then I'll get shit for writing about her more! HAHAHAHAHA... As for the voting issue. This is MY site. It is not an offshoot of MSN. You got a problem with voting? Take it there. Write to them. I host this, pay for it and update it myself. As I said before... I don't know what the problem is. I'll know tomorrow and maybe I'll have an update about it. Also, I am so tired of all the conspiracy talk, that I am just going to say... Yes. It's all a conspiracy. All your worst fears are true. We are trying to control you and the world at large. It's all a ploy to learn how to manipulate votes. Phase one: Florida re-count. Phase two: Rockstar: Supernova. And the final phase... The 2008 Presidential Elections. Mark Burnett, Tommy Lee and I have started a secret covert black ops campaign to rig 2008 and putting our choice of who wins Rockstar is all a part of our master plan. As I write this, there are secret meetings taking place at The Pentagon to determine the directives that will position our choice for Supernova's lead singer. Once in place, he or she will subliminally suggest to the public which Presidential candidate to vote for via the lyrical content of the upcoming Supernova album.

Rock on Dave. Stick to your guns.

I don't know if you'll have a chance to respond by tomorrow, but who's your bet to go home?

Posted by: seal at August 29, 2006 11:08 PM

Right on brother!
People can be a bit insane...I mean really just because some of us lame common folk don't have a life, doesn't mean that you don't too.
Between uptake of this site...working on Rockstar...Touring, promoting, and performing with TPC...and throwing in live radio shows -- you have hours and hours to devote to creating all this! Man, I knew you were talented but that is ridiculous! If it is true Dave -- cash in, by writing a book and supporting cd on Time Management!
Rock on Dave! -- love SRL...first time listening tonight.

Posted by: CdnChick at August 29, 2006 11:10 PM

Hey Dave!! Wow you're getting bombarded hey? THough i'm just adding to that!! Haha!! Anyways, re watch the show because the audio was bad. At first i though Tobey just wasn't singing loud and wondered why i could only hear the house band singing, but then when i heard the next performance i realized there must be an audio problem.
But even so i must say everyone was amazing!!

Tobey especially brought it and was amazing, most definatley my fav. perfomance of his. Though it does help that i LOVE that song!! Hey don't knock Billie!!

Lukas was awesome too, and he's not my favourite just cuz he's a fellow canuck!! ;) His attitude and swagger on stage is great, and his voice was a really cool unique scratchyness (is that a word??) plus he totally showed his maturity this week over the whole Dilana thing. Is it just for tv? Probably, but u know what? It works!

Dilana i think is awesome, yeah she had a hissy fit, whatev get over it. We all have these moments (i did tonight on my roommate in my own passive agressive way), though it isn't good to show in a situation like this. The other rockers must be loving how good it makes them look! I'm sure no one is going to hold it against her though. Well unless they don't like her already....

I think bottom 3 will be Ryan, Storm and Magni, and either Magni or Storm will go. I might put my money $$ on Storm. The dudes haven't been diggin' her as much as Magni the past few weeks. I think she's cool, and one of the my favs in the beginning, now i see her as more of a solo.

Magni is great, but he should just stick with his band in Iceland. I'm not hating on him, it's just he's got a family and he can have an awesome carear back at home. Plus he's good, but i honestly don't think he's what they want.

Ryan i gotta agree with u guys.... more solo too. An amazing singer, little awkward to watch sometimes, but has some of the most memorable perfomances this season, so gotta give props!

Listening to your radio show for the 2nd time (yesturday being 1st) and it's pretty damn cool! I don't know how i got hooked on your site, but i don't normally check out celeb/band whatever websites.... though i'm assuming there aren't many out there that are so dedicated to the fans! Cheers man!
Oh what's this u don't want to be a "midlife crisi supergroup"??? *cough*cough* are u referring to anyone we know? Hahah! I'm sure u didn't mean that but it was funny to hear!
Thanks for the Radiohead!!
Also saw u and Steve on MTV live and Muchmusic!! Good move, embrace the Canadians and we will make sure u suceed! Haha!! Loved Steve's pics from the trip! An amazing photographer!

I'll end this now cuz i've blabbed on enough about the exact same thing everyone else has, and if u do read this i'm just creating more!!!
xoxo

ps wrote this b4 this post went up and i loved it f***ing hilarious dude!!

Dave I love you but please never say Dilana and Rob Zombies name in the same sentence. I have not understood the Dilana praise from day one. She looks like a rock cliché to me on stage, like watching a 1970's rock concert but on Broadway and not Woodstock. And personally I think JD got way harder criticisms last season and more often. Dilana had one bad week, but the rest of the time it has been a tongue bath. Toby rocks, as did Magni, and Lukas. I will go see them all in concert. Tonight’s show was one of the best all season, but Dilana was my least favorite tonight. I cannot believe it almost over, please let there be RS season 3.

Posted by: lukasfan at August 29, 2006 11:13 PM

Dave, I totally agree on Dilana - like Tommy said, King o Mistakes, and he's ok with her. Her on-stage fire makes up for any glass-flinging tantrums. She is - and has always been - the clear winner.

I can't hang with ya on Ryan though; he screams 'insincere' loud and clear; he can sing, but i'm not feelin' it even a little. Even Toby, who I hated early on, is a better pick on real energy.

But I think the performance of the night was Magni. I got chills; he could teach Live how to do that song. He's such an awesome pro, and delivers on everything he does. If Dilana doesn't win, Magni to me is the only second choice.

This season is FINALLY working for me. We're down to the good ones, and I don't wanna see any of them go away.

Posted by: Karl Elvis at August 29, 2006 11:15 PM

I'm sure the server crashed b/c they never anticipated as many votes as are coming in tonight!

(Dave N. pause...)

Which is awesome, dude!

btw, the sound was great on my TeeVee!

keep up the great work Dave! You had me rolling here in laughter!

Hmmmm, now I think about it Dave, there is already a movie about a 'Dave' becoming President...tell the truth, Black Ops have been working their magic for years now haven't they?! rofl!

Posted by: cali at August 29, 2006 11:18 PM

Dave I must say I have agreed with almost everything you have said for the last two season untill tonight that is.
I feel you just told Dilana she was the best so maybe everyone would stop being so angry about the past few weeks.

Posted by: Taj at August 29, 2006 11:18 PM

Oh Dave you already own us, two hours a week watching the show, 4 hours voting, endless hours downloading all the songs to our iPods and cell phones, and who knows how many hours talking about it online, we are your bitches be gently.

Oh and could you, Tommy and MB work for the Democratic party they need the help, and we need a break.

Posted by: lukasfan at August 29, 2006 11:18 PM

Dave
i cant believe that you actually rigged Rockstar! BIG BIG BIG JK!! just thought youd like some sarcastic humor. anyone who believes this is rigged must be insane. they just have to think why would someone rig this thing when its for the fans? people can be really dumb sometimes i mean how is Bush still in office lol. just wanted to see if this will cheer you up. later brother

Posted by: Jonathan Fast at August 29, 2006 11:21 PM

Dave..it seems some people would post a..WAY TO GO DAVE...if you moved your pen a bit to the right..ok ok they are fans..but we all have our opinions that doesn't make us lame or insane. I just found it a tad weird all the praise for dilana..it wasn't that great...

Posted by: Cherrycoke at August 29, 2006 11:23 PM

Dave, you fucking ROCK. There is no way around it! Love your tongue-in-cheek attitude towards all this controversy. Hang in there, dude. It sucks that you're getting all this backlash, but I love how grounded you've stayed through it.

Besides, at least if you guys rigged the Supernova winner so that you could also rig the 2008 election, we'd at least get a president with half an IQ point, which is more than we have now.

Lots of love,
~Ali

Just finished watching RS, (god bless tivo) and here are my thoughts:

Lukas - was fuckin great. I loved that he really sang out in his song and he just has so much presence on stage. He's absolutely mesmerizing. Still my favorite.

Magni - spot on vocals. This guy is damn good...don't think he's gonna win this thing, but he should have no problem getting something going for himself. Like you said tonight Dave, "He can Saaang"

Storm - Good vocals but not as good as Jill's was. I agreed w/ Gilby, said it before he did. I think she is going home tomorrow night.

Toby - When they were playing his intro piece I thought, he is so freakin cute and really does have a great voice...I just don't really care about his performances. I dont look forward to them, like I do w/ all the others, even though I end up always enjoying them. He could also be going home tomorrow.

Dilanna - She definitely tore that song up. Raw and intense and just damaged!! She definitely keeps your attention. The only other one that matches that for me is Lukas. They are my final two hands down.

Ryan - He consistantly brings it for me lately. And my favorite thing about this guy is the intense emotion he brings to each performance. You can tell he's feeling what he's singing and that really makes his songs great to me.

That's all darlings! Have a great night Dave and 67 fam.
Love, Amber

All i care about is when are you going to play some music on the show (awww come on will is be that bad PUHHLLLEAAAASSSEEE )

You're so funny!

How about a late night SR some time?

So.. how do I get hooked up with the Toby/Supernova song from last week? It KICKED ASS!! It's the (ONe) song I want to purchase!

Posted by: MyiisOnly at August 29, 2006 11:28 PM

OMG, what to do? I seriously thought every single one of these performances were absolutely insane. I cannot even believe it- it totally went up a notch tonight. I'd love lukas to win, and personally believe he is going to, but i have to say dilana is totally captivating. But what just happened tonight? I honestly couldn't even believe Toby's performance- it was finally a "wow" for me, as i have always felt him to be boring. magni as well; awesome singer but I have to say he bores me to tears. But that performace was awesome. stormy gave me chill bumps with that last note; the only one in the season. and ryan- omg. I have to say i could not stand him in the beginning, i wanted him totally off- he just was boring and didn't sing well and just stood around and looked "pained." but wow- that guy gets so much better every single time, by leaps and bounds. and he is so creative musically, and damn- he's just not even the same ryan for me. that guy rocks. that intro to clocks was just awesome. he and lukas, i believe are the most talented; Dilana really sings like crap if you ask me- half of the time she is nowhere near the pitch, but her performances are captivating. who knows, they all deserve it for me. better be lukas though, lol

diggin the SRL. First time listener. It rules!! Very cool late nite vibe. Dave, forget Howard Stern, YOU are the master of all media. Thanks for hookin us up with all this great music on the net and the TV. I'll be checkin out Panic Channel soon too I swear. | | |

Love to ALL the SN rockers. I see the big stadium presence that is Dilana and sincerely wish that voice gets the audiences of screaming thousands she is yearning to sing for. Yeah, I think it's a classic voice like Janis or something. And yeah Lukas won me over with "Hero"... seems like he can make his own way tho. | | |

A G5!!!!! I knew it!!! You know about Macs. You rule yet again. | | |

That's why the rockstar site f'ked up. F*kn Microsoft. Their stuff always breaks down. The reason I won't sign up for their fauxspace to make comments over there is because they make you get a "Microsoft ID."Who wants to sign their soul over to Microsoft? | | |

Ennyhoo that's why you get all the comments over here. Go on strike next season and demand they post a producer's blog where victims don't have to get a "Microsoft ID" to complain about the show... then people will quit flogging your blog. What's that? oh... no.. Microsoft isn't sharing your information with the govt. Don't worry, just sign it over. | | |
You should do some kinda rock contest thing sponsored by Apple "for the rest of us." No clinics, no reality show, just some deserving unknowns rockin the TV or the internet or whatevs as Toby says. | | |
Serious Dave, thanks for all the music and putting up with all us random crazies. Apologies for baggin on you for baggin on Dilana in front of an audience a couple of your posts ago. I did think it was funny the poor thing finally gets through a performance after all that and you bring it up AGAIN to say that's over. That kinda cracked me up. | | |

I vote we all shutup.

peace

Posted by: teresa at August 29, 2006 11:34 PM

Dave,
Would you please make Dilana sing Betty Davis Eyes, and make her sing it over and over and over again until we all wish we were born without ears.

P.S. I love the new, confrontational hostility your divorce seems to have created so kudos for that, but please, on the next season, swallow some pride and hire your ex to replace that boring balloon bimbo, Brooke. You want ratings don'tcha?

Thank you, and you can pay pal me later.

Scrubby

Posted by: Scrubby at August 29, 2006 11:34 PM

HaHa good on ya Dave you came clean on the conspiracy plot. But is it just me or are many of your upcoming conspiracy theories just a little out there?HaHa.

Personally speaking conspiracy theories are good for ratings so keep them coming.I commend Mark Burnett on this conspircy theory show I think he does it better than the contender.

Please double axe Ryan and Storm and let Magni duke it out with Toby for the final spot.

Posted by: KeithMoonLives at August 29, 2006 11:35 PM

by the way, i've been reading some of the nasty comments on the message board about you and i'm totally and completely surprised by them. they don't have a fucking clue of what they are talking about. you make the show, totally. the band is BORING. and what is this that people are saying you were out of line with dilana. are these people nuts? how would they expect you to act. if you ask me, you could have been much worse, and she totally fucked up- why not ream her out about it. i love dilana, best after lukas, but geez- she went totally insano there. personally,i'm surprised that you are as nice as you are!

Phase 2.5 of the conspiracy: subliminal messages embedded in tattoo ink. ;-)

Posted by: Nikki at August 29, 2006 11:40 PM

Sorry Dave. I remember Jill's post, but I'm just not sure I'll be able to remember this post tomorrow. Yours truly, Dilby Clarke.

Posted by: Dilby Clarke at August 29, 2006 11:40 PM

Wow> DN! I won't be cruel. As I read your post I had the Mission Impossible theme in my head. Pan to Tlee and you on the couch. Then, the chads, then Iraq. We could even have a Micheal Moore underground film called 8/28. People that voted could be interviewed from their home recreating the voting process on their computer.

As some people here, I just do get sick of all the praise on a person. Dilana did something wrong, move on. Yes, move on don't coddle. It was not the best performance. I don't think she should be rewarded for losing her temper.

Anywho, I am sad that the show is almost over. You will be free for other projects again.

Tonight, I had to chose between SRL and Rockstar. Since my introduction to you was Rockstar and seeing your face was better than the voice, I listened when I could, but thanx! Don't let the bastards get you down. I am happy people are so intense abou this. Shows great interest in the show and that is a GOOD thing DN:) luv ya, Db

plus, you go boy with the humor!

Posted by: hopefalling at August 29, 2006 11:44 PM

Dave,

I KNEW you had something to do with the Flordia recount. I just knew it. Btw your friggin adorable - stick to your guns - I disagree with your assessment - but that is what it is all about. This show is addictive and dangereous. I'm freaking I can't vote, I'm caring about everyones opinions and I'm hoping against hope that my fave (Lukas) is being voted for so he is not in the B3. My knickers are all in a twist. What's a girl to do.

Rock on.

Posted by: SueMe at August 29, 2006 11:44 PM

Seriously, WTF is wrong with Gilby and his talk of "memorable performance"? Could he be any more vague? In my opinion Storm is the most talented and memorable contestant on this show, and has given many memorable performances. And Ryan just seems like a poser. Please stop with the Dark Horse stuff! He's a cheeseball...I really hope Storm does an original, I've been listening to her music on myspace and shes got some killer songs. As a Canadian, I gotta support Lucas too.

Posted by: James Robson at August 29, 2006 11:46 PM

WOW - I didn't realize until listening to SRL that you have such a belligerent way of talking. You come across on TV as so reasonable and intelligent but then every other word is "fuckin" on the radio. I think you have a great soul. Just wanted to share...

Posted by: Teresa at August 29, 2006 11:47 PM

Your site is the first place I go before and after the show every week, just to read your comments. I can't get over how cut-throat the viewing audience is. Some are out to crucify these singers. I really hope they're listening to you about developing thick skins because eventually they'll be able to read all of the shit comments on the website. I loved your bit about conspiracy! I can't think of anyone better to chair this show. Thanks for giving us GREAT "reality TV"!

The RS:SN illuminati cosmic trigger to determine the outcome of RS:SN can be traced back not only to the Knight's Templar, but also to Greek and Gnostic initiatory cults, to Egypt, and can also be traced back to Atlantis. ( hahaha !! )

LOL! Dave, RS was a great show tonight :)
Probably one of the best performance nights for all of the contestants!

Dave, you are my HERO! But, PLEASE don't encourage Dilana. Magni, Ryan, Toby and Lukas are just as talented and not as psycho. What if Magni threw a glass and cut Dilana? I have watched Rock Star both seasons and tonight Dilana was the best? She looked really contrived and what was the leg thing all about? Yikes! I loved her until last week. She isn't growing musically, but her act is growing old.

They came to judge the rock stars and in the process learned to love.

Posted by: Teresa at August 29, 2006 11:56 PM

You might think it was just offstage bs, but the contestants thought it was 1.a test or 2.the real press. Either way this(see quote below) was just one reporter's perspective after reviewing the footage they were privy too. So after she got dressed down for it, like every other contestant has already had done at least a couple times on their performance(which to means INCLUDES how they conduct themselves when they're under the public eye, whether they think it's JUST a test or not), she then threw a tantrum my 2yr old would've been proud of and what does she get for that? New exercise equipment to play with and yet ANOTHER tongue bath from you and the boys. *YAWNS* Yeah, so much for you all wanting a fresh new edge.
-------------------------------------------------
"The press shows up at the mansion. The interviews begin, Ryan states that some have more exposure to this than others do, and they need to remember that they are talking to the world not just the one person in front of them. First up Skunk boy, Lukas Rossi, interviewed by Mark Long (Fox Reality Remix) Lukas let us all know he listened to Metallica growing up and he had sex for the first time to Unforgiven.

Jump to Toby - he enjoys taking to the press. He likes the random questions they ask. Toby is interviewed by Kevin Dickson (In Touch Magazine) He asks Toby if he can survive a year on tour with the band. Toby responds that it depends on what new medicines will be created right now.

Then Storm greets Jaime White (Star 98.7) with a handshake. "You shake like a man" Jaime tells Storm. Storm feels Jaime has been the hardest on the contestants people were limping out of her interviews . Jaime tells Storm she's a great singer but has nothing that says darn it you're the girl. You're not tatted out. Jump to Toby he responds to the same jab from Jaime with I have five how many do you have? She says it's not about her and he says cool, alright then lets move on. She asks Magni to play a game then asks who he thinks it is that stated they didn't like him. Magni tells her she is mean! Then asks for a time out. Jaime tries the same question on Ryan. He told her she was the one that was mean to him!! He wasn't expecting these kind of questions being asked. He said it was the harshest interview he'd ever been in, but he had to remember he was being a spokesman for SN and it's a big responsibility. Jaime wants to know if Dilana has the edge. Ryan states Yes (then Ryan sees Jason walk in to listen in on the interview). Jump to Lukas taking to Kevin Dickson. Kevin tries to get Lukas to tell who isn't being true to him self among his fellow contestants. Lukas declines, saying he doesn't want to dog anybody. Kevin tells him that will look bad in Rolling Stone. Lukas Ok well?

Jump to Dilana with Kevin D wonders how she feels living with people who are clearly threatened and jealous of her? She doesn't feel everyone's mind and heart is as set to win this as hers is. She thinks she knows who is really in this to win and who is just looking for to ride as long as they can. She says Toby is one just looking for a ride not the gig. Also Magni is more interested in being with his family. Then she was asked what she thought after hearing the SN song for the first time. She blabbed on that she loved the song, but Storm really hated the lyrics and Ryan totally hated the song. Dilana stated Patrice Pike should not be there and needs to go. Jason followed in a clip stating how you shouldn't talk bad about your band members to the press there will be repercussions. Jump to Dilana talking to Jaime, Dilana calls the other contestants a forced family and they all really bonded. Jaime tells Dilana that is real politically correct, but who does she really hate. Dilana says there is one guy she would like to strangle at one point everyday and that's Lukas. Dilana says he is a different person every hour and he gets on her nerves and she'd like to punch his lights out!! Now, Jaime talks to Lukas, she jabs him about his sunglasses and asks if he thinks he's a superstar already. He says no he's hung over and takes them off. Jaime tells Lukas that others think he's hard to deal with and moody and Dilana wants to save him. Lukas tells Jaime to tell Dilana to mind her own business. Jaime kept harping that he was the most talked about and that everyone thought he was difficult to live with. Lukas got quiet and Jaime told him he was coming off as a d**K and he said no he was just taking it all in. But he stated in a clip he was ready to tell her to F***off and walk out. She didn't like me and I didn't like her. Lukas walks out. Jason states that if the media treats you with disrespect you can give it back to them. Cut to Lukas and Ryan going over the interview. Dilana's statements to the press are a big issue with everyone."

Dave, you rock!! What an absolutely incredible performance show! Insane! Have my favorites, one of which is not in your Top 3 but eh..that's why we're all born different.

I think what you said here is more than perfect, perfect sense, perfect perspective, perfect approach to take while absorbing the next two weeks... I thank you!

"In fact, if there is one thing I CAN share, it's that Supernova has yet to be on the same page with each other in terms of favorites and they are waiting to see if their ideas line up in the coming weeks based on the remaining performances."

Picked up the new CD today. Lovin' it!

I am with you Dave!! It takes all kinds to make this world turn, huh??? Perhaps a nice cup of coffee is in order....my offer still stands: leather and a 'bucks green apron!!

RS comments:

I really enjoyed Toby & Lukas-fabulous!

Magni has no spark on stage-it's kinda' boring watching him on stage.

Dilana was good-not my favorite tho'. But then again she was getting rid of all that negative energy she has been dealing with.

Storm, she is really growing on me. she sure has the a good feel on stage.

Ryan, he was great! Wow, what a change since the beginning!

Posted by: alana at August 30, 2006 12:02 AM

LOL Dave, the site was just overloaded, after an hour, it was easy to use, no problems at all. So everyone could get a vote in, I thought Dilan, Magni, Toby, Ryan Storm Lukas. I thought Lukas showed little range, Dilana, incredible range.

Posted by: John Buffam at August 30, 2006 12:03 AM

I knew it! I knew it! (running around looking for tin-foil to make a cap so they cant control my brian). but really all you had to do was give me a couple of hours alone with Storm and I would vote anyway you want. Awww Hell Yeah.

Don't close down the site. Just ordered ONe. Should be here in 4-6 days. :)

Question Dave

Could you give your thoughts on the individual strong points of the remaining 6, on SN..

IE: .best stage presents..etc..

Thank You..

lick you later..

Has Oliver Stone called yet? I know there is a conspiracy, and I know who is behind it! It's an underground group of ophthalmologists who set up the voting site and are eagerly licking their chops waiting for all of us who are going blind typing those hateful number/letter thingys obsessively while voting on MSN!

I hope we are now over with the Dilana drama, unless something else shatters this week.

The show was amazingly awesome. Maybe that's what you meant to say Dave, instead of Dilana being the best performance in two seasons, this was perhaps the best show in two seasons!

Lukas' personality and dry wit has grown on me. He's still not my favorite singer, but I thought he was fantastic tonight. This was his best performance of the season for me.

I think Magni may be the one to beat. He is consistent, level headed, appealing and flat out talented.

Ryan must be an acquired taste, but I’ve acquired it. I don’t love the song, but the piano slide, the piano crawl… Argh, he’s so hot. I don’t believe he’s a front man; he’ll blossom with a solo career.

I think Storm is lovely and really had the most pure beautiful voice in the competition. I thought her performance tonight was great and I loved Toby backing her up. I don’t think she needs to win this, she’ll do fine on her own.

Toby was flawless tonight. He was fantastic with Storm. He was superb on Rebel Yell. To me, tonight was the best he’s been yet. Who can resist that grin?

Dilana wasn’t horrible, but I didn’t love her as much as you did. She seemed desperate and trying to hard to me. I think SN wants her, but I’m not sure she’s what they need.

Posted by: Debbiedoo at August 30, 2006 12:08 AM

You know what Dave? I'll remember Storm long affter I've forgotten you and Dilby (and that'll be in about 3 weeks). At least Jason "critiques" and doesn't just basically say "you suck." Do something "memorable" Dave and go fuck yourself.

Posted by: whomper at August 30, 2006 12:08 AM

Watching tonight's performance, I _finally_ realized what it is you guys see in Lukas, "it" being talent--took a while to sink in. While I know in my heart, beyond the merest inkling of a suggestion of a shadow of doubt, that Magni is the best candidate, I would now forgive Supernova for hiring Lukas and would even buy the cd if that were the case (none of the SN guys have ever let me down me independently so far so I have no reason to think they'll do so combined).

Just letting you know so you don't lose any sleep over the issue (you should probably pass it on to Jason, Gilby and T--they must be worried sick!).

Good call on letting The Dilana Incident die out--I was a little worried more ...bovine ...feces would follow after the glass-breaking accident but it looks like we can start concentrating on the music again.

Oh and Mr. Navarro, if you actually read this, you totally rock, sir. Saw the Panic Channel on some talkshow the other day, was well impressed and am getting the CD next weekend. You're a beautiful human being, sir.

Posted by: VladTheInhaler at August 30, 2006 12:08 AM

Dilana? Best of two seasons? Sorry, but Marty would kick her ass any day in a performance competiton. Man, I just don't get it. She's a glorified karoake singer. There is nothing NEW or FRESH about her. Isn't that how Supernova described their music? I know, that's debatable from what we've seen. She's a throwback to 70s rock for sure. Been there, done that. Plus, all the CONSTANT over praise for her is really off-putting. The more praise she gets the more I want to see her fail, and fail large. I'm just that shallow.

Posted by: Jay at August 30, 2006 12:10 AM

Inexcusable behavior towards Storm Large tonight from Gilby Clarke, Dave. Surely you don't call being unduly nasty about an exceptional performance acceptable behavior. You are not responsible for the Supernova guys, or what they say. But it's clear that Gilby has a hate going for Storm. Dilana messed up, was spanked and everyone can move on. But Storm is being singled out by Gilby. His remarks are too cutting. Disrespectful. Unacceptable and will not be forgotten. It will not be forgotten how Supernova has behaved towards Storm Large. Even the rockers and the fans in the house were irritated with Gilby's comments.

Posted by: E. Miller at August 30, 2006 12:11 AM

Hey Debbie - I'm with you on the letter/number torture! Hard to make out after a couple of glasses of wine. :::::concentrating really hard for Magni's sake:::::

All I can say about the conspiracy theory and the 2008 elections is....LMAO...anyone remember early MTV (yes you have to be over the age of 25 to remember LOL) RANDY FOR PRESIDENT!! As for the shit about Dilana. Get a clue, everyone needs to just fuckin take this shit in stride...OOOOO Dave's talking bout Dilana. Get over it move on NEXT...clean up in aisle 3, bitches. Whats wrong with people? I read Dave's pages and yeah I like to hear what he's got to say but damn, people get so caught up in what he says and does in his life/web spreads, ect. Since when arent people intitled to thier opinions. You go Dave, you talk about/write about who ever you want its your shit....FUCK UM...NEXTTTTTT

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAgh!

Posted by: KuT at August 30, 2006 12:17 AM

Navarro - no hate on you for this man, but I have to vent:

Storm's performance and critique just aired for most of us, and I have to say that I don't understand where the judgement is coming from. There have been some great performances tonight, but Storm's was one of the two best (Dilana was Dilana - I like her, but every performance is just the same sound with different words).

I have been completely realistic and honest about judging Storm's performances as far as energy and intensity and entertainment so far and this is the first time in awhile I can say that her performance was the absolute best of the night. Not only that, it is one of the four best performances I have seen in the entire nine weeks so far from the entire group.

Navarro -- you clearly dug it.

Newsted was confusing, because he merely said "effort counts for everything and you definitely brought it tonight". Kind of like telling a retarded kid that all that matters is "you tried hard". Yet, Newsted was shown standing and rocking out to her performance.

Tommy didn't say anything. (Though we know that in his typical sexist fashion, he actually asked her to turn around a couple of times so he could see her tatts and her ass during the taping).

Gilby said Jill's performance of the song was memorable and he won't remember Storm's performance tomorrow. Gilby clearly has alzheimers.

What the hell? I didn't even know Jill performed the song. I knew it had been done once or twice before, but I couldn't remember by who or when. It isn't even that good of a song. But I really loved the way Storm brought it. Powerful and hot as hell. And she looked amazing.

What's worse is they edited out all of the booing at Gilby's comment. Reports from the audience said the booing of Gilby was so long and loud that Storm said "I'm sorry, I can't respond if I can't hear you". But in the televised version, there was perhaps one second of booing, then the audio WENT OUT for a second. Then the next think you hear is them sending her away.

And of course, they made a point to tell Toby after his performance that he also "helped Storm out a lot before this with her song".

Really, are these guys just mysogynist cockswallowers that love any chance to bash a woman and put her down -- and they just make the exception for Dilana because they've adopted her as the band's "tom boy" and don't look at her like a regular woman or something?

Especially Dilby. I was kidding when I started calling him that and now I wish I had never started. It's completely inaccurate. I can't think of a name that appropriately describes that cumguard-sporting doobie-brother-haired twit. He couldn't find one nice thing to say about Storm on a night where the other five artists could have shit themselves and supernova would have applauded the aromatic fragrance and creative texture?

CAN I GET A HELL YEAH?

Dave~I am sending you some love from Canada. Caught you on MTV:Canada-looking foward to seeing you live.

This post has me lmao! We are dished out crap, but the crap makes us stronger & wiser. I think you are great! I met you years ago when you were in Vancouver with the RHCP-you were great! I was getting your autograph at the bus & one of the crew told you that someone thru a cig butt in his bag. You then said to me "it was you, wasn't it?" I replied with "Yah, it was me. Get the attention of the big rockstar!" We all had a good laugh about it! And it wasn't me...honestly! lol You were great!

My RS comments:

Lukas~loved you!! Great energy on stage. Using his vocals properly. Very entertaining!

Ryan~I seem to get a strange vibe from this guy...he is a brooding type. Just don't get it. He was alright tonight.

Toby~best performance yet! Also, he was great with Storm too!

Storm~she is growing on me-I'm really starting to enjoy her antics on stage.

Magni~um..........I was really bored with his performance on stage tonight.

Dilana~she was fine-perhaps all of the negative energy she has been dealing with ruined her vibe tonight. And what was with her leg on the bassist? I was expecting Gilby to make a comment about it-but he didn't. Odd.

Dave-keep your chin up. We all love you!

Take care!

all i can say is LOL!!!!!

Posted by: sinn at August 30, 2006 12:21 AM

I'm wondering why Dave never says anything good on the blog about Toby or Magni. They consistently bring awesome performances every week. Dilana is about as entertaining as a mosquito truck, although the mosquito trucks in our town make a perfect D chord sound with their sprayers and I don't think Dilana knows what that is.

Posted by: justin at August 30, 2006 12:22 AM

Go Dilana! Or Toby! (Those are the only two rockers I would pay to see leading Supernova.)

Posted by: Erik at August 30, 2006 12:23 AM

I agree re: Storm. He doesn't have to like her but he doesn't have to cut her down EVERY show. I agree with what Dave said to her a couple weeks back, in that she's probably the only one that can "take it", but no one should have to take it that hard.

On that note too..Dave, you must have gotten a big kick outta your psych on Luke. Could see his heart sink for a split second there; Loved it! When that man smiles; he just lights up! It's beautiful!

I don't get how it happened dude, he won't like being in the early bottom three much tomorrow! Would be interesting to see the final results on this one because I think, we his fans, might have gotten a bit complacent and I'm sure we got in gear right quick. I can't imagine him being in the final bottom 3. I'll boycott!

Posted by: raven at August 30, 2006 12:24 AM

dude, what's up Gilby's ass? He's been tearing into Storm hard ever since she told Jill that "Gilby knows I can rock with him." His comment tonight that he'll remember Jill's version was so pre-thought out. Please, it was just a shot at Storm for that comment she made to Jill. I get the sense the rest of the three of you appreciate her talents, but Gilby needs to get a grip. And, even though we didn't see it in the edited version, according to spoilers I've read the crowd at the taping thought Gilby was way off base too.

Posted by: mj at August 30, 2006 12:25 AM

Hey Dave,

Tonight's show was one of the best from all seasons, that is for sure.

I think that Dilana has great potential but I also think that Storm and Ryan have a good voice and overall good performacnce.

Anyways these three guys are my favorites.

Keep the good attitude!

Cheers!

Posted by: Arturo at August 30, 2006 12:26 AM

I don't vote. I don't care who wins. The ONLY reason I watch RS is because of you and Tommy. Caught my very first SRL tonight just in time to hear you talkin' dirty!

Posted by: Malysa at August 30, 2006 12:30 AM

There's no conspiracy. Just idiocy. I'm sure Mark Burnette has magical powers, but the Supernova Three couldn't maintain a working conspiracy of their lives depended on it. Jason Newsted a possible exception. He's the only one of the three who offers constructive, useful criticism and isn't a total dick.

I'm going to buy a dozen Supernova CDs as soon as they're released, just so I can go to one of their performences during the tour and shove them right up Dilby Clarke's ass.

I bet he'll find *that* memorable.

Posted by: Cronjob at August 30, 2006 12:32 AM

Wow, there are just so many ass-kissing sycophants in this place. When you guys aren't busy licking Navarro's ballsack, you're raving over your favorite rocker who only seems to be your favorite rocker (I'm basing this on your own posts, which mostly all seem to come from fawning twelve year old girls) only seem to be centered around who has the cutest hair or what australian has the cutest butt.

Lame asses.

Posted by: Nobody at August 30, 2006 12:35 AM

I don't question your ethics Dave but I do question your taste if you think Ryan is better than Magni. He looks like David Blaine and all he does is scream. He can't match Magni. Sorry.

Posted by: doke at August 30, 2006 12:40 AM

Damn. This show is getting hotter and hotter.

A little about me; I haven't been hooked on a T.V. show like this EVER, and I'm 40! I can't get enough! I talk people's ears off about it constantly. It's quite pathetic, really.

Nomatter what happens, Storm is my girl. She would be an amazing lead for the band, but unfortunately, her performances seem to be getting more and more subdued. Maybe because she was chastized for hamming it up in the beginning? Who knows. I just hope she is able to pull it back together and stun the panel with her brilliance.

She is by-far the most experienced and professional of the group. And anyone lucky enough to have seen her live act will attest to her stage energy and charisma. But, unfortunately, the ticket-buying public has short attention-spans, so the winner will have to be the one who shines brightest and loudest, not best. Therefor, I am relatively postitive Dilana will take it. But I, for one, won't buy a ticket to see a freakshow.

Dave takes over the world!!! YEA !!!

I thought everyone had a great performance this week and it would be very difficult to pick someone to go from this point on. I guess its just a matter of who Supernova thinks fits.

As for the vote shit, I couldn't for the first hour, but then I was finally able.

Posted by: dysfun2 at August 30, 2006 01:09 AM

Dave,

That was some funny shit. Great post. For me, Dilana was ok, but not great. Toby and Ryan really had the best performances IMO. I noticed last week that the encore was eliminated due to the Supernova performance. So I suppose we can expect more commentary without an encore this week as well. I'm cool with it either way. I didn't really care for either Supernova song, so I suppose I don't really care who wins this thing. But I say this: Dave, you rule man! So does TPC!

For Wednesday:
Bottom 2: Storm, Lukas
Top 2: Ryan, Toby
Swing either way: Magni, Dilana

Esteemed Nobody:
Being a lame-ass, ass-kissing sychophant, I am somewhat offended by the slanderous filth posted by you at 12:35. My favorite rocker in the group has no hair at all and I doubt his buttocks have ever been near Australia (although I get your point and agree: Toby does have a nice ass).

I am not a 12-year-old girl but, then again, I think that was more of a hilarious joke (the Overstatement; a classic) than an honest attempt at the ancient art of guessing people's age.

As for the licking of Mr. Navarro's ballsack: if only. I don't wanna sound queer or nothin' but I've been a fan of his for years, think of him as a modern rock Icon and would be honored to lick said sack of his if he so asked. However, given my gender, body type, beard growth and--let's face it--overall looks, the situation is fairly unlikely to arise.

Respectfully,

Vlad

Dave, Can appreciate your frustrations with e1 complaining about this or that. You're as entitled to your opinions as anyone and I'm sure TL, GC and JN will pick the person they feel is best and want to tour/record with.
I just can't get behind your "Ryan" love though. He is so not roit for this band and so overwrought. Seems forced and trying so hard to be what they want.
Sorry just don't dig him, but rock on.

Posted by: Jen at August 30, 2006 01:44 AM

Apparently, telling Dave Navarro you love him on HIS blog is described by "Nobody" as "kissing Dave's ballsack".
Well, Dave, I just want to say that I love ya' and I'd be more than happy to kiss your ballsack.
I'm glad you've been digging Ryan and if I don't get to kiss your ballsack Dave, then I should one day hope to be the Dark Horse's saddle.

Just watched the show and have to agree Dilana's performance was standout, I loved the hair, the rage.. everything.

As for Lukas theres something I can't put my finger on. I mean the crowd was going off he was rocking it there, but on the t.v something was missing.

Ryan...well I agree with some of the other comments, he comes across a bit awkward. You can see that he's really trying to rock it up but at times its a bit theatrical. Though I was impressed at how he managed to not miss a beat and keep playing the piano after, sliding across the top of it.

Best performance of the night handsdown goes to Toby singing on Bring Me To Life, now that was a rockstar moment.

Great Show!!!!!

Thank God someone is going to do something in '08! Please, in this awesome conspiracy to rule the world, consider to bring us a Monarchy. I keep perusing the want ads for "Princess" and never find an opening. This may allow me an easy in. What's the name of the new party and to whom do I send my Political donation check? I would also like my own island, could you review Hawaii's union with the rest of the 49 states and offer it up to the newly appointed Monarchy? Tommy, I hope, will be the head of the ATF. Maybe Supernova is working on the new National Anthem.

Posted by: Scansalot at August 30, 2006 03:19 AM

Dave,
I think you are watching another show. What do you mean Toby doesn't have that special something. Besides Ryan he is the only one to listen to SuperNova comments each week and learn from them. Toby brings it each week in every way and and he has a great laid back attitude and sense of humour. WOW when he performed with SN and then they all stood side by side it was game over. We know they are all talented but in your band what would you want? Some psycho bitch who rants and raves (and hasn't developed since day one too may I add) or a fucken great dude who you can share a laugh and a drink with who is the only one to be straight up and not slam anyone behind their back. Get Real.

Come on everyone.. we all know the real conspiracy. It's Brooke Burke - she's actually a robot in real life, and this season the programmers have been having a little trouble with her, sometimes her moves seem to still have the instructions attached "Look to Camera" "Smile" "Say something along the lines of we'll find out after the break".

Seriously the show will be over soon, thanks for keeping it real here - I know I'm enjoying it and it looks like everyone else is too. ;)

What an awsome entry. You rock, Dave. Hope this doesn´t mean that you´re working on changing the constitution to give us four more years of Bush!!!

Totally agreed with Gilby about Storm´s performance. Even Zayra sang this better. And, I also agree that Toby stole the scene. I guess I´m getting tired of Storm.

Don´t agree with you on Dilana´s performance; maybe the image of the broken glass and Magni bleeding was the cause of that. What a drama queen. It was like the end of the world for her to make one mistake. Is that the kind of person Supernova is looking for to front them?!

My favorite performances were Magni´s and Toby´s. Toby is high spirited and playful. Magni is just a great character and he has so much talent. Why are people so obsessed with the fact the guy has a family? I mean, common, his wife even came to LA with their son - she definitely supports what he´s doing.

Posted by: Maria at August 30, 2006 03:40 AM

Ah Dave you crack me up! I feel ya! I do have to agree with 100%...On all points. Conspiracy? Nah To me, it looks as if Storm gave up about 3 shows back. Having seen her videos of her and her bands, she is just missing that something that she had in those vids. Just an observation.
The performances were all good. Now its a matter of WHO has that je ne sais pas? Pinache to pull it off.

ANd you Sir carry the "blog" Issue as we all do, people end to forget they are our spaces to blab on as we feel....Hmmm Maybe I will go do that in mine! LOL
Peace

Hahahahaha... great conspiracy theory.... people think too much and tend to complicate things.
However I thought Magni was awesome... of course as he´s the only one competing from my country :-)
The spirit here in Iceland has been great and everybody.. and I mean everybody is watching the show and supporting him.
But of course you have your own opinion and we´ll see how this goes tonight.... later...

Hey Dave,

Thanks for clearing the rumours up. When the voting was screwed up last night I figured Bush was somehow to blame, just wasn't quite sure how. Ha!

Okay, I already feel like a dork for recounting this, but it was pretty funny so here goes:

Last night I dreamed that the remaining rockers, Supernova, and you were in Hell's Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay. Chef Ramsay was screaming "You donkey!" at everybody and you were all swearing at him. Other than that, all I can recall is that Toby kept running around with a plate of lettuce asking, "Does my salad look okay?"
Weird, huh? D'ya reckon this odd dream could've been caused by some sort of subliminal message embedded in last night's broadcast? Hmm.

I thought Ryan´s performance was horrible, he was "trying" to scream the song and the outcome was disaster. Dilana did a great job with Mother Mother, it´s the first time I like what she is doing. Toby was great, Lukas was????? like always, Storm did amazing job with her song even though it is something she would never choose to perform. MAGNI was awesome, loved him but I´m afraid he´ll go home tonight:( Ryan should also go home! Well when Magni is gone I do not have to watch this show anymore because he is the only one I like watching/hearing. Dave have a great day.

For those bagging on Storm Large, it might be worth pointing out that she didn't audition for this show. The SHOW came to HER and asked HER to be on it. As far as I'm concerned, she's doing everyone a favor.

Oh, Dave. LOL I wasn’t sure by the time I got over here if I’d need fire suppression equipment or riot gear… But your sense of humor (and I hope the rest of you LOL) is quite intact it seems. :-) Man, I’m tired. My brain is fried after that (long stream of colorful language ;-) ) vote. MSN is obviously working as one of your ‘panic agents.’ LOL They did a good job, tonight. I think things stopped juuuust shy of riots in the streets and looting. ;-) Aha, the nefarious plot finally comes to light. ;-) Was that so hard to admit? LOL ^^ Good to know you’re the ‘Ringmaster’ of more than just “Circus Diablo. ;-P I found it interesting that Dilana got a song she knows intimately, loves and has performed/recorded. She had the last performance of the night (which tends to be remembered better than earlier performances because it’s the freshest in people’s minds) with a full-on light and laser show. By contrast, several other performers did songs they’d never done before (like Storm), didn’t initially know the words for and/or just plain disliked. LOL If Dilana *didn’t* rock under conditions like that, after being propped up for her miraculous “redemption, *cough… cough* then she really would have had to pack her bags. LOL Just saying… ;-) Now, Lukas took a song he didn’t like or know, turned it into something beautiful and original, and had to perform first out of all the performers (sans big budget light and laser extravaganza). Then MSN had a brain fart and only a sporadic few folks could vote for any of the performers. Can’t devise a more equitable scenario than that… LOL A conspiracy isn’t required when there’s blatant favoritism on display—like touting Dilana as the “headline performer for the recent CityWalk concert. But, that’s fine, I’ll pretend the colorful and fragrant liquid falling on my boots is rain, even though there doesn’t seem to be a cloud in the sky… ;-)

Hahaha..Dave you cracked me up...I think this is the best 6767 entry i've read so far..You make my day.:)

Posted by: Rave at August 30, 2006 03:55 AM

So, Dave, who is your pick for the 2008 elections?

And with regard to the conspiracy theory, I got the error message when I tried to vote for three different people, so if it is a conspiracy, it is a very convoluted and inefficient one. And let's face it, it hardly needs a conspiracy to have a website crash. Someone's gonna get his ass fired, though.

I do think having everyone sing tonight/this morning would be the best solution- it would be great to see Dilana, Storm and Lukas sing their personal songs without being in the bottom three to do it.

Posted by: arwen at August 30, 2006 04:02 AM

Hey Dave!

Lot's of posts again.... but I haven't read alot of the posts because I just can't. I don't believe there are any. I have my own theory - that alot of the conspiracy notions are being posted by newbies - am I wrong?

Anyhow, love you on the show - love you on any show! Don't dwell on the nay sayers!

Always,
me

Posted by: Angel at August 30, 2006 04:06 AM

Dave,
you are the BEST! OMG, I was lol at your comments, they were great. So when the new singer
"subliminally suggest to the public which Presidential candidate to vote for via the lyrical content of the upcoming Supernova album" can you make sure we are told how to play the cd backwards so we can check for other hidden messages! Wow, maybe they can resurrect the Warren Commission to investigate the conspiracy theories.
LOL Right on Dave.

Posted by: rockfan at August 30, 2006 04:08 AM

god dave I love that chic, she is so awesom. Dilana is rock, she is no doubt the best performer of this time. Supernova would be foolish not to grab her- there is not comparison to her and anyone else, as far as I am concerned she is it.

Posted by: dave at August 30, 2006 04:13 AM

My my in the 12 hours since I went to bed I missed 3 posts and an SRL. Tut tut tits.

Anyway, moving on to the Important Issues Of The Day:
If your new assistant can't get hold of a Dyson for you, then I have another recommendation for her. Given that she's only 19, hefting the Dyson may not be an option, since it's one of the largest washing machines (7kg capacity, it'll wash a king-sized duvet!) available. Instead, why not consider the Bosch range - absolutely bomb-proof german engineering, I don't know anoyone who's ever had one break down. The bad points are that they only come in generic white, but that's the price you pay - the germans are reliable but unimaginative. I'm sure they're more widely available than the Dyson too.

Good luck with all your laundry - related endeavours.

Posted by: slutmonkey57b at August 30, 2006 04:13 AM

One thing about this voting debacle- it sure got everyone's minds off the Dilana debacle, didn't it? Let's hear it for short attention spans!

And Vladtheinhaler- fucking hilarious, man!

Posted by: arwen at August 30, 2006 04:16 AM

Its always something, really who has the time or the energy to properly commit to a decent conspiricay these days. Even government can't get it right - I mean please "we'll sort out the lack of WMDs afterwards" is the level we operate at now.

So my predictions: Ryan will win, Dilana is just the Mig of last year (though I think she by far and away the best). Ryan will tour with Supernove and then Supernova will bite the dust, he will be a has been Reality TV star, whilst the rest of the band will go back to being famous for what they once did. None of this is to say that anyone of them lacks talent, cos they all are fantastic performers, but signing up as a reality tv star is a surefire way into B-list obscurity at best.

But hey I like Rockstar, because I love the music. Its coming on summer here in Kiwi land and rockstar is a great intro for all those long hot summer nights coming our way.

As for (OK i'll play the game) your music stylings, well my little brother use to blast your music real loud just to annoy me, so it kind of pushes my buttons in a bad way. But if you ever broadcast your station at a time that is not in the middle of the night here, or not during working hours then I'll tune it.

Posted by: smarty at August 30, 2006 04:26 AM

You have got to be kidding me. Are you guys really musicians? And you think that Storm's performance blew? Why would you be so personal and petty in your evaluation of her performance? I think you guys are sexist. You don't want Jill grinding on the guitarist. You don't like Storm because she is a confident woman. You like Dilana because she is ... emotionally fragile? Because she has the "body of a 14 year old boy?" (hey, Toby's words, not mine) That's fine -- you don't want a chick fronting your band. Why don't you just admit it and try to have just an ounce of Storm's class. I can't believe how she stands there and takes your garbage and still comes out every week with a simply killer performance.

Posted by: Patrick at August 30, 2006 04:35 AM

Dave,

Sorry that everyone is bagging on you. You are entitled to your opinions just like everyone else.
In my opinion, Dilana is overrated and of course she is going to do good on a song she prof. recorded.
Magni is the greatest. He is always great and always on.
Storm is awesome!!! I agree that she is getting a bad rap on the show. Ya, she can take it but she shouldn't have to. If you don't like her fine, but don't berate the woman on national tv, she has more class and talent than Gilby could ever dream of having.
As for the voting debacle, how convenient.

Posted by: jld at August 30, 2006 04:39 AM

When are you going to play with the band? We're looking forward to it!

While watching you play on last year's Rockstar INXS show, my boyfriend commented that you're a serious class act --- he said you could blow any guitar player on the planet off the stage, but when you played with INXS, you were a team player. As a musician, he thought that was very cool.

Posted by: alteredstate at August 30, 2006 04:41 AM

LOL. Please Please Please let your conspriacy include a democratic president in 08', I don't think we can take another 4 years of the republicans Subliminally controlling our lives through such shows as American Idol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Murph at August 30, 2006 04:45 AM

Hey Dave, I'm in your demographic to buy concert tickets, CD's, downloads, etc. And guess what? Count me out when you are counting your money. You are a rock 'n roll sellout. You say you are all about the music, about the artist, about rock 'n roll baby....and then you trash talk performers who are easily your peers. Why would you berate Dilana for trash-talking on Lukas, but then you and Gilby sit there and trash talk Storm in front of a live audience. You are like schoolyard bullies who have to put down someone in order to make yourselves feel better. You make me sick.

Posted by: Moe at August 30, 2006 04:45 AM

Dave, there were definately some major sound problems with tonights show. When Brooke first came on I could barely hear her voice and I raced for my remote to adjust the sound quality which kept fading in and out of loudness. I was so hyped to see Lukas's performance based on the unanimous positive responses by all the Rockband spoiler crew but it did not come off so good. The sound was muffled and low. I frantically adjusted sound settings but to no avail. The problem corrected itself on the feed shortly after. What was up with that? I read it was a problem from CBS Global.

Posted by: Angela at August 30, 2006 04:46 AM

Great post Dave... I totally agree with your performance rating for Dilana and Lukas.

As for the conspiracy thing...we have to remember that there is no age limit to who can leave a comment on web sites, chronologically or mentally.

Dave, love you even if i don't agree with you. For the first time, i got my man to watch the show. He's as hooked now as i am. Last night was the best, even if the sound at home was not so great.

Out of the blue, here comes TOBY! I hadn't even been paying that much attention to him until last night! I can't believe no one is commenting on his interraction with the audience and his overall improvement.

All the performances were great and it will be tough to send anyone home.

Posted by: victoria at August 30, 2006 04:51 AM

Dave, I know Dilana seems to be the favorite but if she wins can you hire her a wardrobe consultant. Honestly tonight, that getup. I thought she would pull out a cauldron, and last week with the overgrown Princess Leia dos sticking out of her head. She's a fashion laughing stock. Methinks she tries too hard, but as she is not really a creative person, fails miserably.

Posted by: Angela at August 30, 2006 04:52 AM

hello Dave,

hahaha funny point about the conspiracy thing but I have to disagree with you about Magni being in the B3!!!! he is totally the best vocal, just read vocal reviews on chat room in rockstar.msn.com, magni always gets the highest score!!!!

he should not be in b3 because his lack of style!!! some stylist and TLee can easily take care of that later on - this should be about the music man, remember that.

anyways, thank you for the best tv show since simpson and hopefully you will check out Iceland some day.

ALL HAIL THE DARK ONE! Thank you for coming out and admitting the conspiracy thing. I live in Florida and so therefore knew about it the whole time..it's been really hard keeping it under wraps and all...(can you say "WHATEVER")

O'dark ONE, why pick Magni bottom 3? Personally I was up until 3am East Coast time voting for him and campaigning to Rock THE VOTE for him. (it's 7am here now...I'm a mother)

What was up Sweet Jason's ass last night? Geez, it looked like someone stuck a midevil torture ball in his pants...(they couldn't edit out the fidgets I guess)

My nightmares of you were short, but mortifying last night...do you even actually own a Battle Axe? KEEP IT CREEPY!!
ALL HAIL!

How on EARTH could they send Storm home?
She's never even BEEN in the final bottom three.
If they send her home, there will probably be a riot.
It would go against everything that TLee said last week to Patrice.
The fans buy the tickets, AND OBVIOUSLY THEY WANT TO SEE STORM MORE THAN MAGNI.
So send him home!
I love Magni, but if it comes down to Storm and Magni, Magni has to go.

But just you wait.
Storm will "WOW" your asses with her bottom three performance, and then we'll see who's laughing..

Man, don't a lot of people need to get a life! Awesome show this week, Magni and Toby get my vote.

ok dave i need u to make this happen-reverse the song selections for dilana and storm-guess whats gonna happen/ storm kills mother mother and dilana well welcome to the bottom 3 guaranteed. anyway on to my picks.
i thought lukas did a spectacular rendition original and very gutsy a+
magni for me is the consumete professonial and would be my number 1 pick i believe he offers alot to the band.
storm did an amazing job on a very tough song-kudos to u kid.
not what i thought was ryans best
toby did a superb job i liked it.
and dilana i agree with the people who say her voice does't change from week to week-i liked the song preformance was good but im just not impressed.
cant wait for the next srl broadcast until next week later dave

My prediction? Storm, RYAN and Toby. Disagree? Then VOTE ????????

So I watched it all back. All I can say is, I stand behind everything I said !!!. Dilana was awesome! So was Lukas and Ryan. My choice for the bottom three... Toby, Storm and MAGNI ???????

stand behind everything I said ??????

Posted by: Bill at August 30, 2006 05:08 AM

How out of touch are you when you fall over yourselves to coddle Lukas for the same voicebox-damaging performance night after night and then totally rip on Storm for her consistently strong performances. She has never faltered. Sure, I didn't like I will Survive either, but why would a Rockband have that song on their show anyway? It was Supernova's pick, not Storm's. She just picked up the garbage and made it smell reasonably good. Stop being so mean to Storm. Sure, she can take it, but she is not your punching bag.

Hello DAve,
It sure took me long enough to find your site. LOL! I am glad i finally did. I have enjoyed your work over the years. you kick ass \m/ !
I am unsure where to post this, so i will do it here. I heard this band on Conan, I think they are fukin' awesome. They seem to bring something back that we have lost over the years. http://www.wolfmother.com/ Something tells me, if you haven't heard them. You will very soon.
As far as a comment on Rockstar, I was glad they went to "rock" and not "pop" this year. It seems more entertaining to me. You are a staple on the show. Without some of you guys, well, to be frank, it would suck. I am one who is indeed hooked on a preformer, but this is not my place to voice my opinion about the BEST FEMALE ROCKER I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME! So I won't say that DILANA just kicks ass. ( with the fuk up or not ) WOW! I LOVE IT! Good luck to her.
Your solo project info.. SO how does it feel to be putting this cd out? Sure you are excited, but what is the feel of the music from it. ( yes, i will buy it soon ) just snooping for a headz up on what kinda vibe to look for.
Thank you for letting me share my thoughts!
Good luck on this project! Kick ass and take names!
I'll see ya on the show, and check the blog for updates. Thanks again, ~~DIL8T3D~~

Stares at pretty, pretty CD cover art in post above… Hey, that’s really ni… Oh, wait a moment. This is one of those clever “fluffy bunny puppet ploys, isn’t it? While we’re distracted by the ‘fluffy bunny,’ you’re busy taking over the world. ^^ I get it. ;-P (Yes, still awake… I’m too *tired* to sleep LOL in that perverse, yet quaintly ironic, way that periodically strikes virtuoso insomniacs. ;-) ) “(ONe) is a terrific album. I’m still enjoying the tracks every day and they kick butt for a cardio routine. (Great way to get the blood *and* iron pumping, simultaneously.) ;-) But if you really want to perfect the art of magic, Dave, it’s about “misdirection, not “redirection. ;-) Well, that and being willing to wind up in the hospital for impersonating a human freezie-pop for a few days. LOL No worries, man, your natural kind of ‘magic’ doesn’t require volunteers from the audience or pulling rabbits from hats—just a stage to rock out with your talented pals. :-) Hey, you made it vanish. LOL You *are* David Blaine! LOL :-P

Wow ... what people out there don't know is that Dave's conspiracy is just a small part of the Canadian conspiracy to take over the world. With numerous operations currently underway however it is of course impossible to go into details as we can not blow our people's cover but ... let me ask you, is it coincidence that a Canadian is now the front person for INXS and that a Canadian is now a frontrunner for Supernova? I'm just saying.

You know we start our training at an earlier age, our beer is stronger ... not to mention the Newfoundland Screech. Newfoundland is one of our major training bases if you can make it through there ... well enough said. We have infiltrated many areas. Some of course gave away part of our plans in a previous mockumentary (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0285470/quotes) but we have rebounded from that, it was a just a small glitch in the overall plan.

Wicked post Dave ... wicked post

Hi Dave

The last show was really awsome. I am totally agree with you :Dilana is the best , she deserves to win. The others singers especialy Lukas and Ryan are excelent too. No matter who wins all them will have a succesful careers.

I enjoy very much your participation in the show allways honest and simple.

Congratulations to all

Hey
The *DILANARAMA* is soooo contrived. Regardless, thanks for your posts. Always interesting and informative. Glad to read that you update, pay, and manage this site yourself! It's refreshing to see an artist using the web to communicate so effectively with his fans.

I too tried voting last night for Lukas and ran into the server errors. Very frustrating. To ensure it wasn't a Lukas meltdown, I also tried voting for Storm (who BTW has more talent in her pinky than Dilanarama's full body)...to no avail. I certainly hope MSN boosts their server load next week - every rocker's fan is going to be looking to cast his/her vote in support of their favourite rockstar. There's no time for the server to fail at the end of the show when voting starts!!!

Thanks again for all of your posts. I truly enjoy them.

Hahaha, this 'conspiracy' post cracked me up!

I, for one, apologize for bitching here about the server crashing - but I think I speak for everyone when I say we just wanted to bring it to someone's attention that there was a problem.

And, well, that's what you get for leaving comments open!

HILARIOUS DAVE!

I'm with you, Dilana was like A ROCK WARRIOR up there tonight. If new viewers (from the other reality shows now off the air) were expecting a METAL PERFORMANCE on RS:SN, they got it with Dilana.

The voting problems? Meh, just for the first hour on the East Coast. Might have missed some uncommitted voters, but I still got me 200 votes in for Dilana.

That song was like MAKE-UP SEX BABY!

Posted by: Bill Mitchell at August 30, 2006 05:39 AM

Great attitude Dave! People are getting out of control with this conspiracy thing... Dilana has been the most consistant performer on stage, people can't deny that she can rock! The reality webisodes from the mansion are put together through editing and they look for the most drama (haven't you guys watched Survivor?) I'm sure other rockers have said stupid things. Last week was Dilana's week. Remember drama makes good TV! Love reading your thoughts Dave. I so look forward to tonight's elimination show.

Dude, that was some funny shit. I'll be the first to admit how much i like Storm, but i agree with one of the earlier posts, Im sure she'll do fine on her own, so I dont believe all the conspiracy rubbish. Hell, i think the only reason i wanted her to win anyways is so maybe she'll make her way to Toronto. Hope you keep this site up and running cause all this will go away soon enough im sure

Morning Dave..I have been catching up on the overnight events and it sounds like voters had a rough time.

I thought the show was awesome last night and it's hard to imagne any of them having to go home but that's what has to happen. While they are all super talented in their own way, you gotta wonder who is best to front Supernova, and you have said all along, and I agree, there are only a couple of contestants who can logically do that. I think they all have a great shot at being their own Rock Star but not to front Supernova.
Good on ya Dave for sticking to words, and for highlighting the fact that all this conspiracy talk on something Supernova can easily decide without the woting is ridiculous! (present MSN problems excluded - but I am more inclined to believe technical difficulties over conspiracy).

Anyway Dave, you rock, but totally disagree with you about Dilana. Too much of a drama queen and best in two years,,,ouch....you must have been affected by all the earlier performers. Don't get me wrong she did great but that wasn't even her best!!

GO LUKAS GO!!

Once in place, he or she will subliminally suggest to the public which Presidential candidate to vote for via the lyrical content of the upcoming Supernova album.

And you know, it'd probably make a better album if you did that. Cos those lyrics...man they were the rotten fruit of the ugly tree right there.

DAVE YOUA ARE GETTING SLAMMED WITH POSTS ON THIS ONE. LOOK JUST A SHOUT OUT. NO ONE DID I EVER SUSPECT THAT SN IS RIGGED. THIS SHOW IS ABOUT AIRING TALENT. LUVE YOUR COMMENTS. YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION AS AN ARTIST AND A PERSON. XO ERIKA

Posted by: ERIKA at August 30, 2006 05:52 AM

Dave, I totally agree with you that Dilana, Lukas and Ryan were the top 3 performances of the night. I couldn't believe it when I saw both Lukas and Ryan in the preliminary bottom three. Lukas has never stood up on elimination night and Ryan hasn't stood up for two weeks!

I'm hoping for Toby, Storm and Magni in bottom 3. I think it's Magni's time to go. I still think Storm has more to show us, and Toby just rocks.

Posted by: Elizabeth at August 30, 2006 05:52 AM

I don't agree with your bottom 3..there I said it....Magni really did have the best performance followed closely by Dilana...Not sure why you love Ryan so much...He has improved each time but so have Toby...TOOOO much Angst in his voice...too many already out there with said angst...
As far as the voting..If there wasn't anyone caring then you'd be off the air...looking around the web I've been very surprised and pleased with the intesitity of some of these fans...which brings up your point from the other day...the rockers better use the popularity as a spring board for their career win or not.

Posted by: KristiBelle at August 30, 2006 05:53 AM

So where does the GM corporation fit into this conspiracy ?? providing transportation to and from the evil studio ??? I just saw the web video of the new saturn auto roll-out that was played by camp freddy. pretty cool stuff, do you really like the saturn sky ? I think it definitely looks better than the pontiac solstice...
I thought magni & toby killed it last night and dilana was awesome, still don't see the appeal of ryan at all, lukas was good but buried at the top of the show, that was unfortunate for him. storm is so hot, I can't wait for the playboy spread...

BTW, thanks JewlCanadainGirl for revealing the Canadian Connection. I'm glad you didn't talk about members of the Newfoundland band 'Great Big Sea' helping produce the Auzzie Russel Crowe's album (http://www.chartattack.com/damn/2005/03/3006.cfm)... who may or may not be connected to Toby Rand.

Peace out!

Hey Dave,
You're awesome man! Thanks for the laugh so early in the morning!

I do have a question about votes though. Does SN get to see the total amount of votes each Rocker gets? And if they do, does it also tell them how many of those were unique votes vs someone voting for the same person for 4 hours? I was just curious if they looked to see if one or two particular Rockers had won the fans over consistently each week, or if they just know bottom 3.

Thanks for keeping us entertained!

Posted by: Xtreme1 at August 30, 2006 05:58 AM

Dave I can only imagen how pissed off and upset you must be getting with everyone here who is commenting on SN, voting etc. Please don't shut down this site, I am new here and I like it here.

I just want you to know that I was joking when I made the comment about only 'gov't elections being fixed' but that is exactly what this voting consipriacy reminds me of..lol.

You nailed it earlier, this SN band they can keep or get rid of whomever they want whenever they want. Correct me if I am wrong but the voting is merely to provide SN with an idea as to where fans are sitting.

As much as I didn't like being able to vote for Lukas when I initally logged on, I was able to vote after an hour so I just spent a little extra time casting votes for D and L (ok 60mins but thats only b/c I am in transitional period between school and work and have the time. )

I have also been voting TPC VH1...lol. Anyway even if Lukas is in the bottom 3- HE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE...lol. I have faith that he will save him self, and he probably like the oppertunity to choose a song for us to showcase his voice.

JD ended up in the bottom 3 and yet he still won, plus there are only 6 left ...lol so I kinda wish people would relax a bit. If your fav is in the bottom 3- do you not have confidence enough in them to get themselves out. Just my thinking.

Dave love ya, hope I am not one of the people pissing you off because that is truly not my intension.

If only that were all true??? Hmmmm! What a great country this would be with a rocker in the white house.....We have had an actor, why not a rocker? I truly enjoy drinking coffee in the morning and reading what you've wrote. They all did a great job last night, but my vote is still on Dilana with or without SN.

Dave... very simply... you're the shit, hahaha. i KNEW Supernova was just an evil genious attempt for world domination... you and T-lee are so devious! :P I bet there are also subliminal messages that are written on you guys and disguised as "tattoos"... yes... its all comming together now...

Much Love

Who knew you could be so funny? Anyway, I have no doubt that the show IS NOT rigged. Why? The best are still standing! I agree with you about Dilana's performance last night, but she's too one dimensional (IMHO) for this group and I think Supernova's core fan base will tire of her quickly. I can't see Ryan (even though I love him), or Storm (awesome voice...not for these guys, though), front this band. Toby (sexy though he is) is too unseasoned so, although I don't see him going home tonight, I don't think he's who they want. Besides, do they really want a guy that's younger and better looking than any of them fronting their band? I don't think so! That leaves Lukas and Magni. Killer voices and not good looking enough to be a threat. To quote the other David...metal horns high in the air!

I KNEW IT!! So kids set your TiVo's for next summer's show... RockStar:The Prez...lol.

Speaking of TiVos I was able to listen to your whole SRL show and then go watch RS:SN.. I  TiVo.. LOL

OH and again thanks for the "go to bed" shout out last night that was killer!!

Good Morning! I just wanted to say that I think you do an awesome job as hosting the RockStar Supernova. I think your insights are so accurate.
One question, how did this site 6767 come about?
I didn't even know that it existed. I think I saw it on a shirt on the show or heard you mention it. I think this is my 4th or 5th time on this site.

Posted by: Kt at August 30, 2006 06:08 AM

I loved the show last night. Toby fucking rock hard.I think Storm tried at the song, but it just didnt work out for her. It happens. I however think, just because she has been in the bottom three these past few weeks that she might be going home tonight. I didnt see the beginning, I missed Lukas so I dont know how he did. Anyways, I love ya, you just plain rock. Very Beautiful.

OMG Dave. There will be some who will hang on to every word of the conspiracy voting thing and the next thing you know you'll be hauled down to FBI offices and get strip searched and grilled for 16 hours on how you plan to take over the US. You are a brave soul. This just gets better and better.

Posted by: Shirley at August 30, 2006 06:13 AM

Dave,

I owe you an apology. I was pretty heated last night after the voting fiasco and somehow found myself ranting on this site. Of course you have nothing to do with MSN. Seriously, my bad. I'm sure you're over the topic and it hasn't even been 12 hours yet. Strangely enough I woke up thinking that I had to come here and apologize (like you know me or something). At any rate, you should be elated/proud that so many of us are so invested in the show that our emotions get the better of us when it comes to 'our faves'. Never thought I'd be the type to get worked up over a tv show, but alas, here I am apologizing at 9am (haven't even had coffee yet!). Keep the show rockin', we love it!! -H

P.S. I hope you're wrong about Toby...

Posted by: haleemon at August 30, 2006 06:13 AM

I for one do not think Dilana changes it up every week. She does the same thing over and over. She lost me week 3. The first week I loved her.
Ryan consistently brings it every week. I love him and Lukas. Love.

Perhaps Dilana and her huge overgrown ego will fit in just perfectly with legends in their own minds Jason and Gilby. They deserve each other.

Posted by: Terri at August 30, 2006 06:14 AM

Oh Dave...

No need to worry about fixing the Presidential elections... Our government did a mighty fine job of fixing them the last two times with George W. Bush. Maybe they can get a 3rd lucky try at it with Jeb Bush in 2008... Won't that be fantabulous!!!

Posted by: Savvy at August 30, 2006 06:16 AM

To the poster that says that Storm has been in the bottom three these past few weeks: she has NEVER been in the bottom three. Not once.

if there is any conspiracy, i think it involves sky one for broadcasting SN 2 weeks late in england! my brain gets confused as to where things are.
i love reading your website and have been a fan of yours for many years. i hope the panic channel will come and tour in england some time soon.

Hey Dave! This is the first time I've posted here, and first off I just wanted to tell you that I think you are an amazing musician and an admirable person. I love your music and you make me laugh every week on Supernova. Okay, just had to get that irritatingly unoriginal and overly sentimental crap out of way.

I'm sorry that people have been so rude to you over apparently everything Supernova related. These people kind of lose sight of the fact that even though all but one of them are going to be sent home, they're all getting a previously unmatched opportunity to do what they love. You, and everyone else behind that show, are the ones providing that opportunity. You deserve more respect than the conspiracy theorists give you.

OHH CHAPPAQUITIK, you are actually quite amusing this time. BUT TOBY? WTF? Ryan, my sweet lounge lizard, Ryan...sucked ASS. I love CLOCKS and he FUCKED IT UP, DAVE! The whole piano slide...well he should slide to the B3. OK, you are entitled to your opinion, Chappaquitik....I"m down with it..but as an executive producer, I don't even have to read the spoiler pages now! SO, YOU RUINED THAT FUN AFTERNOON DELIGHT FOR ME...now, I'll just have to have a noon-er with my husband...well, ok! HEARTS AND CANDY, DAVE! THIS TIME

If there is a conspiracy Tom Cruise must be involved...sorry couldnt help myself lol Anyways I couldnt vote for an hour and then got in a few before I had to go to bed cause go figure I have a job and a life. Just thought it sucked, as for contacting msn, they dont want to acknowledge it happened c'est la vie. I voted for Magni last night, I love Ryan but I just dont see him frontin sn and I used to love Dilana but shes been rubbin me the wrong way with her better than you attitude, some say thats they way to be a rockstar, I disagree. I think all the finalists are great though and I would buy any of their albums...ok maybe not Lukas, cant stand the guy and I am Canadian too, I just dont see voting for someone just because they are from your country...I dont think he is vocally strong enough. I thought they were all great last night

Posted by: Christa at August 30, 2006 06:22 AM

Best performance for both seasons: JD's Money and Pretty Vegas. Close second is Magni (Fire and I Alone), and then Toby (Rebel Yell). Magni is still my fav. he may not be what SN is looking for but he is by far one of the most talented, one of the few voices that grabs me. Toby rocked last nite, solo bit and as back up for Storm. Ryan - i just don't get it. great behind the piano but seems to lose it out front...I finally liked Lukas' performance. I thought Storm did an awesome job on the song, too bad SN just has this need to slam her. as for Dilana, same old same old. she is good, but it just doesn't work for me. will be interesting to see who actually grabs the coveted Rockstar Title in the coming weeks.

Posted by: Lea at August 30, 2006 06:27 AM

Dave, you are so awesome and that was very well put! Read it with a huge smile!
As for the show last night. I thought it was GREAT! I love Dilana and Lukas still. I do think that Toby is definitley someone that could front Supernova though. I just think he has star quality and can rock the crowd! I loved his performance last night. I am still not digging Storm so much, though. Just dont see it in her. Great soloist though! Cant wait to watch the show tonight to see whose gone. It is getting hard to really pick a person that is better than the next. I think they are all great!

C ya!
Love ya, sexy Dave,

I enjoy the show and I enjoy reading the posts. Often times people point out things about a performance that I hadn't noticed before. Sometimes its something good; sometimes its something bad.
I do not think that Storm deserved to be trashed like that. It was a good performance, and a good evaluater always trys to find something good in a critque. I thought her and Toby were great together and probably should just form their own group. I thought everyone did well, but I have yet to see how Dilana outshines everyone. I agree with the one trick pony theory. Lets recap shall we for the waaaa waaaa forgive and forget thing.
1. Talked trash in Vegas about the others on camera to SN. Got called out for it. Did not learn from this experience becauseeeeeeeee:
2. Talked trash to the media on camera. Got called out for it. Did not learn from it becauseeeeee
3. Went straight to the mansion and talked trash to Ryan in from of the cameras. Got called out for it on national television no less. Gave a half hearted apology. What the hell did you expect her to say? Did not learn from it becauseeeeeee
4. Went back to the mansion and threw a hissy fit in front of the cameras and actually hurt someone physically.
There is no excuse for her behavior. The above shows that she is unstable, untrustworthy, and is not smart enough to learn from past experiences. This my friends is a narcissitic person who is only sad because they got caught and had their hands slapped. You can forgive a person once but 4 times in 2-3 weeks. You have really respect the others for the self control they have shown throughout this ordeal.
All of these people have talent and they have gotten a lot of publicity through this show so I am sure they will all do just fine when this is over.
By the way, am I the only one that thinks Jason Newstead often times comes off as a pseudo intellectual pompous ass? I couldn't believe the way he looked at the fans when they booed him about Ryan. As in, "how dare you peasants disagree with me."

Posted by: NANA at August 30, 2006 06:32 AM

Dave!!! Although you said you don't want to read such things like this, I STILL HAVE TO PROTEST ABOUT THE TROUBLES WE GOT DURING LAST NIGHT VOTING!! WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WHEN FANS COULD VOTE FOR ANY - ANY ROCKER - EXCEPT MY LOVE - LUKAS ???????????WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON. OR WAS IT ON PURPOSE??????IF THAT WAS TRUE AND LUKAS WAS OUT,I - AND OFCOURSE EVERY ONE WHO LOVES LUKAS ,WHO , I'M SURE COUNT FOR A LOT OF SN FANS, WILL NEVER BUY ANY CDS OF THEM BECAUSE SOMEONE CHEATED. Subject: Does the whole package exist in this lineup?.........

Hi Dave,.......

I don't believe in any conspiracy theories regarding this show either. It wouldn't be in the bands interest. Just ignore those that go on ;) ........

About the show, I really enjoyed Dilana tonight. So glad she ditched the high heels and really let loose. I think Dilana learnt her lesson well and truly last week. Everyone is human and we all make mistakes. Her sincere remorse endeared her to me really. I don't know if Dilana is completely right for Supernova, but she is shining bright thats for sure. I missed her original, so don't know if she is a good songwriter. ..............

About the contestants. A few weeks ago, I thought Magni was THE front runner, now I'm not so sure. His performances in the last two weeks I feel have been a little lacking in effort and conviction. Even though I really Magni as a performer and out of all of them, I feel he is probably the most mature and would probably be most suited for the band. .............

Having said that though, Dilana is really giving it her all. I didn't feel initially her voice suited the band, but after seeing her do that original with them, I have changed my mind somewhat. ...........

I have to say I feel many of the performers are very self conscious and its very forced and it doesn't seem all that real to me. Doesn't feel natural. ...........

Lukas:........

Lukas Rossi has a great voice but I feel he is riddled with personal problems and doesn't really know who he is. I mean I don't know him at all, its just a feeling I get. And whats with the 80's esque suits, Miami vice rolled up sleeves etc, bad American punk hair and all the makeup. I feel if Lukas just maybe tried being himself for a little while, it maybe a really amazing performance. Personally if I were the band I would consider he may be a real handful on tour. ...........

Ryan and Toby: .........
Ryan & Toby I feel are trying to hard to be RockStars and it just doesn't feel real to me. Toby did a good job tonight, but hes not right for SuperNova either. .........

Ryan does these very full on performances. His original was really great, but his performances and his angst all feels a bit staged to me, and not very real. Thats just my feeling on viewing him. In some ways my feeling is many of them are more keen on winning than what the prize actually is - being with SuperNova. I'm sure in future many performers will be using these Rockstar shows just to showcase their talent and get exposure. Thats always a danger. If Ryan had Magnis maturity and honesty in a way, Ryan would be a force to be reakoned with...........

Storm is a great singer, but not for this band. She should be solo. ............

I would be concerned if I were the band with how some of them are good singers, but immature, some are not good writers but good singers, where is the whole package? Does the whole package exist in this lineup? I don't know. I feel it may not. ..........

By the way, I love the way you write Dave. I read your bio and was saddened to hear about the tragedy in your family when you were growing up. I don't frequent blogsites often, but I love visiting yours. You have a very open honest and natural style. You seem like a really nice guy. Its a pleasure to read your comments and see you on TV. I was very sorry to hear about your breakup. ............

I will have good thoughts for Supernova that they get the singer they deserve that will make them very happy. ...........

Great happiness to you always Dave. ........

Trisha
(Australia).........

Has anyone noticed that Dilana fucked up the words? If she loves the song, why didnt' she sing the second verse?

Posted by: Patricia at August 30, 2006 06:42 AM

DAVE! REMEMBER TO SEE TO THE VOTING PROBLEM. THAT'S SO UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!SOMEONE WAS JEALOUS OF LUKAS' TALENT AND POPULARITY AND TRYING TO DESTROY HIS POLL. WE CAN'T LET THIS HAPPEN !!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: ha phuong at August 30, 2006 06:44 AM

Dave, please check into the audio problems of last night. It totally ruined the first quarter of the show which included Lukas's performance. I know there was something wrong. I tried to adjust sound on my TV but it didn't help and when it finally was fixed almost blew my eardrums off I had it up so loud. I know Jason didn't jump up and fistpump the air because he sounded so bad! Please check into it. I think he should be made to sing that again to give the viewing audience a true interpretation of how it actually came off. I still believe the spoilers and SN's and audience reaction to the performance over how it sounded on my TV. Also, bottom 3? That's just not even halfway believable given his huge fanbase.

Posted by: Paula at August 30, 2006 06:44 AM

TOMMY FOR PRESIDENT!!!!

i think thats one of the funniest things ive ever read! well if you cant beat em, join em...
the show last nite was fantastic, i was really impressed with everyones attitude during all that drama. the music was pretty good, i was a little disappointed that they were songs that have already been sang, but i guess thats where licensing and all that legal crap comes in? i thought all the guys kicked ass, but the women could of done better..

i saw that tommys coming up to toronto for the film festival and going to be a guest dj at the ultra, are you coming too?

Posted by: Sherra at August 30, 2006 06:44 AM

That was the best post yet, Dave. I love it! I can't believe this conspiracy deal has gotten so out of hand. Lots of people with nothing better to do. I thought last nights show was great! My least favorite was Lukas, but he was pretty good. That goes to show you that any elimination at this point will be tough.

Have a great day!

Love to all........

You rock Dave ! Conspiracy...Do people really have that much time on their hands that they think this sh*t up !!! SAD... It's a reality rock show, for the love of God. I think everyone should just move on and give Dilana a break !

About the show, I loved Toby's performance for Rebel Yell. Killer ! Lukas was amazing, as usual. I even like The Dark Horse's performance and, usually, I don't. Unfortunately, I think it's Stormy's time to go...

Peace.

LMFAO! God, people are such morons. Was there this much drama with the first season?

The show last night was fantastic. Just bought a new flat screen and surround sound and had to break it in with Rockstar. The neighbors are not happy with me. HA! \m/

Hey Dave... Although I love your comments that you make and most of the time I totally agree with you.. I have to disagree about TOBY... I think he is truly amazing and after he performed we FINALLY got a WOW out of you...although I think he has done heaps of performances to deserve the WOW factor...Seeing Toby on that Stage doing Rebel Yell made me so proud to be an Australian!!!

TOBY WILL BE NUMBER 1

Well SUPERNOVA for new government...
Sorry guys but sometimes i wondr y americans r so bent on dissin every1?
I think the guys have done amazing and so what if Dilana had PMS last week.. hey girls haven't we all wanted to kick the SH*T outta someone.. I wud wanna kick Luka too.. God he makes out to be all sweetness and light.. i mean the way he ran into the dining room to tell all the Magni had a HUGE GASH in his head,, hahahhah i mean.. i cut myself worse than that when shaving my frickin legs.. hahah and as Magni quite rightly said.. he had worse when shavin....
Now Dave sleepin with Dilana.. hey y not.. there both free.. so who cares.. and anyhoo.. whos business is it.,..
I think ur site is great dave,, and u r there on the show to be honest and give ur opinion and peeps don't like it.. then TURN OFF... easy.. just get off ur ass and walk over to that little green button and press.. now i am saying walk as i know u will have a remote.. but i am thinking that maybe the exercise will be good.
Well Dilana was awesome tonite and i really hope the guys pick her as i do think she is the best.. the other 5 r great but dilana is in a place on her own...
My bottom 3 would be Ryan, Lukas and Storm (sad to say) think the other 3 rocked.....
See ya

hey dave - you are tooooooooooo funny.. love your take on things!

last night's show was awesome! i thought everyone really did well, with the exception of storm.. that song was totally wrong for her.. she is much better than that performance last night..

i can only imagine how hard tonight's elimination is gonna be for SN.. each one left is great in their own way..

i am still voting for dilana - she KICKED (literally and figuratively) last night on "mother mother".. omg!! whether or not she wins this competition - i can see her HUGE wherever she lands.. i definitely would pay to see her perform..

toby was great last night, too.. i bet those girls will never forget being pulled up on stage.. good rock move for sure..

on pins and needles waiting to hear SN's decision..

love to all..

Alot of us following the show since last year think it would be awesome for you to have a follow up show to last year's season Rockstar INXS to broadcast what the other contestants are doing since their five minutes of fame.

As for the current season, dude -

Rockstar = TOBY is the man.
He suits the band and his vocals are on the money. What a rocking MFucker.

Dave,

I love ya! You don't have to defend your praise of Dilana. She's not my favorite but I thought her performance was great last night. That was hilarious when the MSN server went down. And right after the conspiracy theories! I think the Rossi Posse wanted Mark Burnett's head on a stick! Can't wait for the show tonight!

Dude, you are a witty and intelligent rock star...I love it. Your blog is always an entertaining read and I am grateful that you keep this site up. DAVE your right on with your commenys about Dilana the woman is truly amazing performer.I can't ever remember seeing a woman rock like that.I can't believe the people that go out of thier way to bash her.But that usually goes with being on top.AS well loved metallic is they have thier share of haters.

Dave -

Any chance that you have a contact e-mail address for the show for us to use to register complaints?

The board over there is horseshit.

I spent an hour trying to vote for Lukas as soon as the show ended - in Eastern Canada - and got nothing but error messages.

Posted by: Micheal L at August 30, 2006 07:16 AM

I am amazed that after listening to the playback you would think that Lukas and Dilana's performances stood up. For me it was just the opposite. Dilana needs to go back to wherever the hell she came from and Lukas needs to get back to the North Pole. Christmas will be here before you know it.

Posted by: Mean Girl at August 30, 2006 07:17 AM

Dave! I LOVE YOU because you totally seem to "get" Ryan and what an AMAZING talent he is! I honestly think Jason is just tyring to find something wrong with him. If SN end up being idiots and don't chose Ryan maybe YOU can start up a band with him! "Back Of Your Car" would be an instant #1 hit! Just dreaming but I would love to see you 2 do music together! I REALLY hope Ryan IS in the top 3 like your prediction! He is the most interesting performer left IMO!

Amazing how 'fans' can speak their minds about each rocker and their performances, but completely blast Gilby for giving his opinion on one. It's his opinion. Live with it, and if you can't then don't spew out your prattle for others to read.

Holy shit I don't think I've laughed that hard in a while. I needed that so bad. Conspiracy theories, where would we be without them? Pretty fu$#ing bored I must say. You have to find the humor in it though.

P.S. I hate to say it but I think it's time for Storm to go home. She's gonna be a killer solo artist though. I'd pay to go see her.

Posted by: Jami at August 30, 2006 07:20 AM

Dave,
you ROCK, love watching your hot self every week, best thing about that show.
BUT,
Dilana does suck. She sounded like Britney Spears with the exception of that screaming rant she throws in here and there.
Glad you are owning up to the conspiracy and I look forward to seeing who you move into the white house in 2008.
It would be interesting to see you moderate a presidential debate, instead of those boring CNN?FOX news suits...

Posted by: Suzanne at August 30, 2006 07:20 AM

Where's the line between artistic integrity and celebrity?
Do you think you have crossed that line Dave?
For example: by doing shows like 'Rockstar' and that marriage thing.
Anyway I'm deeply divided about you. I think you are ultra cool, but then I wonder about a guy who fronts this kind of stuff and seems to like women with fake boobs and the glitterati.

I see you like a person who travels back and forth across the defining line.

Much respect anyway; this celebrity/artist debate is something that plagues many artists and fans, and I'm not having a dig at you. I really like you anyway and would like to know what you think about it.

Dave, you are the best...I knew this all had to do with the 2008 elections. Thanks for being so honest and saying what you really think.

I personally think that it is Ryan's time to go. To me everything he does is contrived and it is getting embarassing to watch.

It's one of those facts of life - death, taxes, and conspiracy theories on viewer-voting TV shows. Get over it, people!

I love Storm, but I think it's her time to go. I think it hurt her rather than helped her having Toby sing backup. He was great, but she'd have been better off having the house band do that. Oh, and I don't think Gilby was too hard on Storm. It may have seemed that way because everyone else got gushing raves.

My fear, though, is that if Magni is in the bottom three, he'll get the "tommy-hawk" because he's been there before and Storm hasn't.

In general, last night's show was kickASS! I loved that all the songs were "Wildcard" picks and not repeats of something the rockers have already done.

Keep it up, Dave - love the site, love the show, love The Panic Channel!

Posted by: Gila at August 30, 2006 07:23 AM

I love you Dave, but I'm stickin' with my man Toby, who trumped them all last night!! He is the consummate rocker (He was awesome on his solo and as backup for Storm, who needed it)! If the band doesn't choose Toby, it will be SuperNova suicide when it comes time to sell records and concert tix. Storm will go home tonight. Bye bye to the chick who thinks she's too sexy not to get the job. Rock on Dave!! You're the best!

Hey Sir Dave,

All this conspiracy talk has really been worth while if the result is your "confessional rant". That is priceless, I have been so impressed how you are so in touch and accessible to your fans. Great Job!!!!!!!!!

The only part of the conspiracy plan that you forgot is that after the next Presidential election, Iceland will be invaded and conquered and Magni will be named King (to be nkown as Magni the Magnificent). Iceland will then become the secret training base of the New World Rock Army which will slowly invade the globe creating a world of tatooed rock rebels. (Hold on wasn't this a Kiss movie?)
Anyways props to you, by being so open you are creating a new fan base for yourself and your band.

Love your stuff Dave, and I think you are the most credible on the show. You aren't afraid to let them have it between the eyes if it's deserved . . . good or bad! Your entry today was priceless! I'm going to send it around the office so we can all know who is actually responsible for letting that asshole into the white house. Rock On!

Posted by: lonebrat at August 30, 2006 07:32 AM

All I have to say is that some of these people have to chill-out.
It's a Fing TV show. One that actually lets us watch amazing Rock performances (including The Who, Stone's, and Hendrix tunes). Which could someday lead to more Rock on TV besides intro's to CSI shows (at least that's my hope). But until then this is what we got and I think it's great.

Plus I'm also very happy that Dave is willing to give us some backstage perspective on the show. Just remember that he doesn't have to..

So Chill-out before you ruin it for everyone.

And Thanks again Dave. You Rock.

Wow! What's with Gilby picking on Storm! Is he deaf or what! I'm not a Storm fan and have never been but she was fantastic last night. She out-performed Dilana and I don't get it. Why is Dave and all the judges so impressed with Dilana? She's getting worse each week instead of better. All the others just keep getting better and better. They are all true performers and they rock. What Dilana does best is scream and throw her hair around but she's definitely the "Karoke" singer of the bunch. So what's with all the praise; it's like you've picked her for your favorite and are influencing the voters. Gotta say that Supernova's originals have not been very good. If this is as good as it gets, would never buy your music or see you in concert. Hopefully, the band is saving the best for last. Magni, Lucas and Ryan are much too good to front this band if all their originals are this bad.

Posted by: Madelyn at August 30, 2006 07:39 AM

That was a funny post.

I don't think it is a conspiracy BUT I do think we are past the time when the karoake singing can pass for authenticity. I have seen a lot of singers in my day and doing "covers" versus doing originals versus singing with the band where the artistic chemistry is just amazing are all totally different things.

The folks that are left are good enough to deserve all of us seeing a wider spectrum of performance and musicianship.

**What do you think?**

Dave,

You obviously know about the voting problems after the show last night, and yes, we (or at least I) do realize that you have nothing to do with MSN and couldn't fix their site. That said, you *are* the Exec Producer of the show itself, yes? Given that the premise of the show is fan-based voting, you have a duty to both the fans AND the rockers to call last night a "no-vote" night, to TELL all the rockers that the votes weren't accurate, and to base elimination performances on something other than fan votes. Perhaps SN could step up and choose the three performers they want to hear more from to aid their elimination decision? Perhaps they could have the three performers who have hit bottom 3 most often perform? Whatever; it just doesn't seem right to follow the old rules when the votes were impacted so severely.
Please! Let's put it all out there and not pretend it didn't happen.

Sincerely,
RockBand's Smitten

I agree with you. Everyone is awesome. This is the first week I had trouble picking 3 people I thought should be in the bottom three. Lukas is going to flip on having to stand when Brooke reads out names who were in the bottom 3 at some point last night, even if he doesn't end up singing.

Love the blog. Keep rockin'.

Excellent show last night, I'm not at all a Dilana fan , but she aced that song!

Lukas...the SN guys seem to love him, hmm...I think he may win this.

Just wondering, maybe it's been mentioned.. perhaps it was announcing SN tickets on sale near the beginning that helped to crash the server when the voting started??

Dave, hope your radio interview at 6:15am went well. Poor guy, couldn't they have made it just a little later?!

D@ve,

The Dark Horse emergeth yet again. From where he comes, we know not. When he arrives, we welcome him, and we are a bit stunned and awed. He brings the surprise factor. He made love to his instrument (not his phallus, mind you, but his piano), too. I'm a sucker for the undergod, watching the struggle, the growth, the process of transformation. Can you not empathize with this process?

Posted by: Bri@n at August 30, 2006 07:50 AM

I think everyone has their personal favorite - whether they are the right sound/personality for SuperNova remains to be seen.

My comment is: It's the fan's that make a band or the lack of that can break it.

From the threads I've read on this site and the MSN site - just not sure everyone is on the same page. You can NOT allow personal feelings to overrule judgement on what will be best for the band.

I've watched from the beginning - I've changed my mind a few times on who I felt would be best as each performer steps it up.

I can say I'm certainly not on the same page with you Dave as far as performances. However it's what makes this world go round and be interesting - we all have our own opinions.

Hey Dave,

Do you think there'll be an uncut DVD which doesn't have any of CBS' editing? I was reading a report on another forum and apparently CBS misses a lot out. Particulary last night, where I read JAson was practically crying about the Dilana situation.

Dave,
Creating a conspiracy theory is entertaining and great marketing (keeps the buzz buzzing)

But Why The Love Affair With Dilana:
She performs songs that she has already performed with her own band and does an OK job.
Lukas rearranges an American classic that he admittedley does not like and turns it into a gem, all in two days!!
Ryan takes a song which he is not comfortable with and does a good job, all in two days!!
Storm takes a song that she has never performed and turns it into an interesting and vocally sound performance (should have used the houseband for back up vocals), all in two days.

Yet the love affair with Dilana doing an adequate job performing something that she has been doing for years. C'MON NOW, conspiracy theory!
At least the SN boys didn't seem so excited about her performance and by judging from the audience reaction afterwards it was not that great. Lukas received a rousing ovation but yet Dilanas is the best in two years?? C'MON NOW, conspiracy theory!

Posted by: rantant at August 30, 2006 08:02 AM

Conspiracy theory! Doubtful. However, sometimes I do think SN's comments are preparing a rocker for going home. Like Storm. I thought she did good. Not my fave-but one of the guys said it was lacking. And then the comment about Ryan looking like he is uncomfortable once he comes out from behind the piano. Not on this performance at least not from what *I* saw. But on other performances I'd agree with that comment. I don't think he's uncomfortable it's just his style.

And as far as others thinking Ryan is a poser and not a real rocker I think is unfair. I'd agree that consistancy is good-but he's showing that he has many sides to him. He can do the piano thing and then he can rock out. I'm pretty proud of him.

I've said before-I think at this point any one of them could be molded to be a SN frontman/frontwoman.

Dilana seems to be the obvious choice. Storm pretty much is the only one that I can't see doing it. I think she could...but I just don't see any chemistry. Plus, Tommy would constantly be wanting her nekked. Not that there is anything wrong with that-but it's been said dude...I'm done hearing it.

Posted by: SJ at August 30, 2006 08:03 AM

Toby for president. Everyone would chill and laughing would be order of the day.

Dilana could be sent to Lebanon as their president and no one not even Israel would mess with that scary bitch.

Posted by: sara at August 30, 2006 08:05 AM

I have to say this again, Dilana is not changing anything from week to week. She has the same 'show' each time she takes the stage. She's not all that. She should do "Back in Black" cause thats the only colour she owns.

One thing I have noticed, the house band seems to dig in more when Ryan and Magni are in front of them. Not so much with Storm and Toby. I think this is an important point.

Can Rafeal Moreira shred or what? That guy is a monster!!!

Life after RS:SN... There used to be a great tv show in the UK called the Old Grey Whistle Test ( don't worry no midlife crisis theme) that gave deserved exposure to many new indie bands that went on to become household names. I guess you haven't got time but it would be great to create something like a visual SRL...of course I doubt any US network would have the guts to air it.

I'm just wondering why nobody called Dilana out on singing the wrong lyrics? Pretty much every time someone has done that, in both seasons, it would at least be mentioned, even if it's to say it didn't hurt the performance. She sang the same verse twice...the part about tobacco and hiking up the skirt. Those were right the first time she sang them, but then she repeated them when she should have done the "If I tell you what you want to hear, will it help you to sleep well at night" verse. Kind of interesting since it's a song she's done a million times and since she was trying to redeem herself. Everyone else has been nailed on wrong lyrics, just not Dilana. I agree with whomever said this before, but I think the outcome of the glass-breaking situation would have been vastly different had Magni thrown the glass and cut Dilana.

I also find Dilana's "dancing" very disconcerting. Her movement seems to be simply for the sake of movement, like, look at me I can jump around the stage and throw my leg around someone's neck. It has no clear purpose or relation to the song she's singing, so it seems spastic and forced. And, she's not the most graceful thing ever, is she? Shaking your crazy hair and headbutting the mic doesn't somehow make you a rock star. As I have said any number of times, I'm not a huge Storm fan, but last night, I think Storm KILLED that tune, yet Dilana got all the love. Anything Storm has done has been light years better than anything Jill did, including that particular tune. And, Storm moves with purpose on stage. I can't believe I'm defending Storm! But man, she was far better than Dilana last night, and didn't get recognized for it.

I'm going with Magni, Lukas and Ryan as my top 3, with Toby as #4, although Toby and Ryan are about even in my opinion. I think who these contestants are as people counts for a lot, actually, not just how they perform. Do you think anyone wants to buy a CD or concert ticket if they already dislike the singer? It's not an established band with a back catalog of stuff that people grew up with. Even those who didn't like JD were willing to give them a chance because INXS was a large part of their musical lives at one point. Luckily, JD delivered. But, no one has that kind of investment in SN, so they'd do better to select someone who has a likeability factor. I had even started to purchase tix for the SN concert in Atlantic City, but the more I thought about it, the less I was willing to spend the money without knowing who would be showing up to sing the concert.

As for the conspiracy theorists...I still think that crap is a tad out there. The band can pick whomever they want, regardless of the voting outcome, so why would they fix the results? I had trouble voting for Magni last night, which I just figured was due to a lot of people voting for him. I thought if it like a busy signal on a phone. I didn't have trouble with any other contestant, and I voted before 11 on the east coast.

GREAT SHOW LAST NIGHT!!!! And great post, Dave. Let me know when you get that 2008 thing worked as long as we don't have the same morron as we've had the last 6 years as president.

LOVING THE PANIC CHANNEL. YOU SHRED AS USUAL. YOU NEED TO GET UP ON THE ROCKSTAR STAGE!!

Lukas: Fantastic Performance but I can't stand his voice. Half way through the song I can't wait for him to stop growling.

Magni: He's just so fucking good!!! I'm a fan, nothing negative to say. If he doesn't win I hope he does something so we can follow his progress.

Toby: He keeps getting better. He ROCKED on the song with Storm totally. Rebel Yell was great, loved how he broke it down at the end with the babes on stage, Completely worked for me.

Storm: Did a great job but didn't blow me away. I always get the impression that she's trying too hard. And I can't stand that song.

Ryan: Trying WAY too hard. Oversings/ dramatizes everything and still doesn't look comfortable. The problem is that he's just not a ROCKSTAR.

Dilana: I'm sooo over her. The performance was good, not great. She's got some charisma but I think she would get old fast. That voice has no variation. And her little whiny tirade was just too much. Oooh poor Dilana got criticized for for being a complete cunt. I have no sympathy.

My picks for bottom three: Ryan, Storm, Lukas
It will probably be: Storm, Toby, Ryan

Great Show. Looking forward to the Panic Channel tour as well as the Supernova/ Rockstar tour.

If Dilana wins it will mean the next season will be awful.

First season, JD won with trash talking and abusing the other hamsters. In the first show he assaulted a girl in the audience, grabbed her head and jamed it in his crotch. He didn't show up, didn't prepare. He said from day one he was there to WIN - and he did it by being a nasty competitor.

This season Dilana had (fill in misbehavior here) and turned in the 2nd lamest performance in 2 seasons with EBYT. She wasn't in the bottom 3.

(The worst, of course, was Lukas with CS. Which also didn't touch the bottom 3)

If she wins, it tells next season's hamsters to pull out the stops and totally shit on each other. The biggest asshole wins.

It's not that the band is trying to influence the voting. It's that the voting doesn't matter. Like you said, it's the band's decision, they can keep or chuck any performer for any reason. That means it's not a real contest - and so it's not covered by the game show anti-rigging laws.

"47 US Code Sec. 509. Prohibited practices in contests of knowledge, skill, or chance

(a) Influencing, prearranging, or predetermining outcome
It shall be unlawful for any person, with intent to deceive the listening or viewing public -
(1) To supply to any contestant in a purportedly bona fide contest of intellectual knowledge or intellectual skill any special and secret assistance whereby the outcome of such contest will be in whole or in part prearranged or predetermined."

It's not a bonafied contest of inellectual skill. MBP is in the clear.

BUT

I'd be really interested in how the money from all those text messages is being split. How much goes to the phone company, how much goes to MBP?

I have to say this ….. I know it may be a bit off subject and if it is offensive to anyone I’m sorry. I was listening to SRL and I heard the whole thing about the photographer, if that’s what they call themselves, at the gym. What in the hell is wrong with people? They’re sneaking into people’s homes for pictures to sell of private moments to make money! They’re following people to stupid ass places like a gym just to snap a picture. I just don’t get it. Why would you want to make a living invading people’s privacy? Don’t these people have a conscience? What happened to everyone has a right to privacy? Regardless of what your job is or who you marry everyone has a right to live their life! This is the reason I refuse to buy those bullshit magazines that spout their endless array of shit about people in the public eye. Who finds that shit interesting? Obviously someone does because they keep on printing it. Where does it end? When they finally snap a photo of some gigantic rock star taking a shit? Then will they be happy? I wish there were more people out there who would pull a Sean Penn on these fuckers. Good on ya Dave. Feel better now, thanks for the vent.

Hey Dave. Cool site. Nice to see your running commentary on the show. My wife and I have a 2 year old and another on the way so needless to say we're home a lot in the evenings and your show is our favourite.

Last night was great! Didn't notice any sound issues on our tube as others have mentioned. We're getting down to the better performers now but I have to say Lukas is the man to beat. This guy just captivates on stage. He's passionate, interesting, unpredictable, and a really good singer to boot. He seems like a perfect fit for Supernova. I understand the Dilana praise but for me Lukas is destined to win this thing. Anyways, thanks for the good job you and your crew do. The band and yourself seem like good guys. Cheers.

Dave, I have to admit, even though I don't like Dilana, her performance last night was awesome. I'm so glad you still see Ryan's potential though, because I personally think he's the best for SN. For Jason to say he only rocks behind a piano is crazy. They guy has repeatedly kicked ass on songs like Iris, In the Air Tonight, Back of Your Car, Enjoy the Silence, etc. WITHOUT a piano in front of him.

Posted by: Junebug at August 30, 2006 08:44 AM

I can't believe you people are getting all crazy about the voting. Don't you get it? The voting doesn't mean jack shit. In the end Supernova picks the lead singer they want regardless of voting. Your voting has nothing to do with it. The eventual winner can end up in the bottom 3 every friggin week. Supernova is still going to pick who they want.

By the way this thing has been over since week one. Lukas is an absolute sure fire LOCK to win this thing.

I don't remember yawning once or dreading watching the show. I can't say I really care for Ryan, but I totally enjoyed his performance, even if I'm not a fan of the song or Coldplay.

Since I have a hard time voting for who I liked the best... here's who I liked the least:
Storm - and I absolutely love the song she did, and Toby's backup. But IMO, her performance did nothing for me in comparison to everyone else.

Hey Davemeister...
Too clever on your post re: conspiracy... you know what they say... If ya can't beat em.....bend em over... hahaha

The show was amazing... clearly everyone is pulling out their "A" game. I felt it was Toby's night... He brought his performance and stage presence up quite a bit... And Dilana... well I must say I'm a believer... She was tortured and enraged and completely authentic...

The bottom 3??? Hmmmmm... well I must say it's no longer based just on singing ability and performance... Now you have to factor in SN... I'm
so anxious to see who performs with them tonight... My hope is Magni... just in case he doesn't make it through cut.... STORM while the singer with best voice... not with SN... she's a solo act for sure... And for me RYAN... I don't believe him... He tries too hard to really be authentic... he's like a chimp that raided starbucks... yes he has skills... writing and singing behind the piano... but he's no front man... i mean if he makes it another week how will he turn it up a notch..? By Jacking Off in the bass players ear.. and jumping into chinese splits wearing baby blue gaucho pants??? that makes me smile... ahahaha dark horse??? more like Mr Ed gone goth... hahaha ok ok I'm done.. I don't believe him... pure and simple except that he's desperate..

I cannot see what the fascination is, in fact her performance is very uncomfortable to watch at times and vocally bland. She gave an OK performance but not near the best of the night let alone the best in Rockstar history. I just don't get it!!
The performance by Lukas was amazing, totally fuckin mesmerizing. He is really fluid on stage and does not present those uncomfortable moments (unless he forgets the words).
Lukas I get,
Dilana???????????

Hi Dave, great show last night. Everyone gave their best performances. However, I hope the voting issue last night gets address. But I think it was obvious that something went crazy with the votes when Lukas fell into the bottom 3. But again, everyone did a fab job (However, Lukas is my pick)

Thank you Dave!!! I appreciate all what you do for the show and thank you for finally shutting up all the "I'm so up Dilana's ass" bullshit. DAVE FOR PRESIDENT! haha!

Hey Dave,

You ever watch that show on the TeeVee where they pick some dude off the street who has no background in a particular profession and they train him up for a couple of weeks and then put him in an interview or competition with real pros to see if the company can tell the who the "plant" is.

Usually the shows I've seen the company never guesses correctly who the poseur is.Nice try but I gotcha on this one.The Dark Horse indeed.

Forgot to mention, in case anyone's interested, there's a great band worth checking out called Loudlove (www.loudlove.com). I'm not affiliated with them...we just saw them live the other night and these guys are great! Their front man is off the charts talented. Mix of reggae, blues, and heavy guitar. Anyawys, give them a listen as I'm always into hearing about and promoting talent.

Dave, with the voting mal-function they should keep everyone this week and vote off two next week, it is the only fair thing to do. I could not vote for my Stormy who I think is the best by far. I hope SN is not being swayed by the non-cd buying 12 year olds voting for Lucas and Dilana! They are tireless voters who will spend four hours for their fav. (When they can get through) Please suggest the hiatus from sending someone home. Will

Dave, You're a peach. Thanks for all you've done and are doing. The conspiracy is lots of fun, can't wait for more.

Bottom three -- Storm, Ryan, Magni. Going home: Storm. Great voice, beautiful, stage presence (at least through the TV) not overwhelming.

I love Ryan, but wish he would lighten up a bit; I think Jason's comments will put Ryan below the line. Will be really surprised if Lukas ended below the line.

I'm thinking Toby will take the prize. (Lukas fans -- no insult intended; Lukas will not be one of the contestants who is forgotten, he'll have a great career.)

A very funny review of last night's performances;

Oh dear. These fuckers are making my life difficult. Must. Try. To. Snark.

In no particular order:

Ryan - Can't wait for the New York version of the Piano Man tour where he smashes a baby grand over Billy Joel's head. Don't see a lot of piano happening in a Super Nova show, but that was pretty fucking cool. I'm beginning to wonder if Jason knows what the plot actually is - I think they're scared! Most frightening performance of the night goes to...

Di-LA-na - Not in a good way. For me. It was kind of like seeing Sammy Hagar after a sex change and 10 bottles of Cabo Wabo. Lot's of 80's rock moves mixed with a song that I've always hated and a singer I just don't enjoy that much. I DO get why people like her, but she ain't my thing. For the record, I wouldn't smash a Flying V either, and anybody who thinks she should have oughta have their heads read and their fingers cut off. Again - just me. With a preview of the Rock Star: Wannabe tour...

Storm and Toby - Too bad. They were cool together. I hate that song. The latest and greatest of bad tactical moves by Storm, but I think she knows she's toast anyway. A+ for effort, A++ for HOTNESS, A+++ for being the coolest chick EVER - I am going to miss her, but not her performances. I'd like to see a duet with Billy Idol and...

Toby - Before. After. Before. After. Froot Loop wants to check I.D.? My wife loved that line. He ain't as stunned as he looks, is he? EVS - the i.d. would be as fake as their tits. Tommy just got a look at the future...and it was GOOOOOD! Toby will definitely get these guys laid, unlike...

Magni - He'll just sell records, and I really don't know if these guys care. That was fuckin great! They probably heard that in Iceland without the aid of a satellite feed! They may have six months of night time, but he certainly wasn't overshadowed by his alter ego...

Lukas - Beam him up! He ain't from this world. Every thing about this cat is cool. He's already a star, and makes things work when he cares enough to feel it. He is becoming teflon to snark, but I refuse to squeee, whatever the fuck that means.

Anyway, at this point, I may have to quit snarking. It is too damned hard. I think Storm is the only one left who I still can't quite see a niche for, and I believe she will be going home. I'll buy whatever she puts out next.

The talent pool is better this year than last, the field is narrowed to serious contenders who all have a shot, and now it's all about how SN envision themselves.

One album party band - Toby
Serious deep thoughts band - Ryan
Solid straight-forward rock band - Magni
Serious multi-album project - Lukas
Successful flash-in-the-pan career launcher - Di-LA-na

Still anyone's guess.

Hey Dave, I can't believe I just now found this site! I'm ashamed of myself! Anyway, sorry to hear you are getting so much slack on this thing. Some people just need to chill. I think you're doing a great job, if my opinion means anything. hehe

Personally, I'd have to say this was Dilana's best performance by far, and I'm not even a fan of her! She really outdid herself.

My pick for the top 3: RYAN (love this guy), Toby, and Lukas. I am kinda torn between Lukas and Magni,so I think it could go either way. I'm a diehard Ryan fan though, since day 1. He has grown so much since the beginning and really listens to what his fans tell him, and to me, that means alot. I'm voting for Ryan all the way!

Anyway, just wanted to show some love Dave! You're the man!

Posted by: selah at August 30, 2006 09:05 AM

Now that's funny. I knew it was a conspiracy. Quite the brain buster too. I think I will need to lie down before watching the show tonight.

Posted by: meribella at August 30, 2006 09:06 AM

There is problem though with having Dilana around she was great last night I thought not JD good or Lukas good but pretty dope.

One the one hand she has a lot of fans which is great for the finale. On the other hand Suave Porn cannot pick her because of the meltdown.I mean every other review of INXS concerts which are usually very good the reviewer is often mildly "surpised" at how humble and nice JD's is in person not like on the show at all.Big surprise.

So are you going to start a new band with every interviewer asking about Dilana's meltdown and how's she doing?Don't think so.Then again booting her would be even meaner.Tough call there.

Haven't heard the bit on on SRL but wanted to respond to Jami's post about the photographers at the Gym.

I'm a photographer and just want to defend our profession. Most of us are hard working, creative, professionals who think of the paparazzi as the pond scum that they are. It sucks that since they use cameras as we do we have to be lumped together. I feel for the celebs that have to deal with them.

Your blog was the first one I had to check out this morning. Wow, it is jumping.

Had a dream last night that there was a double elimination tonight that sent Storm & Ryan home.
I am OK with that because I really want to see more of them but with their own bands.
The first time I saw RS:SN I thought it was Toby then I doubted myself but he is back and I think the best person to front this group.

Looking forward tonight's show - I think? Not sure if I will be as addicted to the show once Storm and Ryan leave...Dilan and Lukas just don't interest me. Although, I am really starting to like Lukas now still think he is too small though.

Posted by: lynne at August 30, 2006 09:14 AM

what the hell is up everyone's ass??!! all the comments about how old dilana looks and how awful her piercings look and how bad her wardrobe is. to start with, the combined age of SN is what...about 250 years?! (no offence guys..luv ya xo) and if i am not mistaken they have a couple of piercings and tats. they are trying to find someone to front a dirty rock band of vetran rockers, not a sorority cheerleader. storm can sing, i'll give her that. but the stupid-ass faces and shit she does with her lips makes me wanna punch her. a barbie doll can't lead the band, and neither can some pretty boy. dilana and lukas or possibly magni get my votes. ryan looks too rehearsed on stage..like he's trying to hard.

luv to dave xox

Dave
So I really dig your conspiracy plot, however, I was really disappointed you limited yourself to only the presidency. YOU KNOW it’s bigger than that! Allow me to elaborate, if you will…

In 1980 a space craft landed in Rendlesham Forest in England who switched the young real Tony Blair for an Alien, who then grew up among the people as an imposter and became the Prime Minister. At the same time, another alien snuck into the US Military base and immigrated into the US. This Alien will become the next US president in 2008. He’s already covertly funding terrorists to blow up Israel, who are all under the direction of an evil sorceress that is orchestrating the beginning of Armageddon that will take place during the Alien President’s third year in office.

Now that my friend, is the makings for a new Fox Network series.. Wanna co-produce? We could get Manson’s ex-girl Rose McGowan to play the evil scorceress.

Dave I am in awe of this woman Dilana, from the moment she first stepped on the stage she has blown me away... 5 foot dynamite, who cares if she can't write shit. who would let this talent go??? I would pay $500 a ticket to see her perform

Dave,

Many thanks for your objectivity, professionalism and humour. Much appreciated among the sea of hate spewed regularly from this, and many other sites.

I wonder if you or the guys will comment on the rumour that Lukas once fronted a band that opened for a Jason gig? If so, would that not give him an unfair advantage?

This is one Canadian NOT rooting for Lukas the one-trick-pony-boy and utter bore. Dilana proved last night, as she always does, what a riveting, mesmorizing, absolute talent she is. I would pay good money to see her!!

Hey Dave -
I've been lurking ever since the second week of Rockstar:Supernova when I Googled it and ran into your site. I think it's awesome that you provide such a link to your fans, and that you keep updating practically daily. I'm impressed, and felt the need to post and tell you that!

As for the show - love it, love it, love it! I've been rooting for my boy LUKAS, not just 'cause he's a fellow Canuck, but because I think he's got Rock Star written all over him. Following the whirlwind that was Dilana this past week, I thought he proved to be a true professional and showed a lot of maturity. He's ready for this gig.

But to be honest, the final 6 are all very worthy, and I don't want to see any of them go home tonight. Toby rocked it last night - getting the fans on stage was awesome, I've been waiting for someone to do that all season. (Plus, he looked and sounded great backing Storm on the Evanescence tune). Magni killed it too. I thought Ryan was too over-the-top (although he has definitely improved from the first week). My bottom three would be Storm, Ryan, and Magni with Storm going home. I love her, but she hasn't been impressing lately. I didn't entirely enjoy Dilana's performance last night either, but I doubt we'll see her in the bottom three. I was shocked to see Lukas there after the early voting - definitely not deserving of that!

Anyways, thanks again for providing this place for your fans to converge, Dave. I haven't yet checked out the Panic Channel, but I've been so impressed by you on the show and on this site, that I'm going out to buy (ONe) this weekend.

Cheers!

....
Then, I must like intellectual pompous asses because I find his sage comments effective (e.g. Lucas's voice constriction) and I like his rational approach. Why did YOU have to be so mean?

Lest we forget, the bandmembers' comments reflect their assessments for their band's vision. Afterall, it is their band; we are here to help them make the decision not control them.

It's the same here on the site: Dave pays for it and can have his own personal opinions; we don't own him, so trash talk about what he says is just cheap. Also, people's realities are often quite different, so logically our assessments may differ. Can't we disagree without yelling conspiracy and venting our disagreement in such viseral ways while hitting low blows often on such personal levels. "Hate the deed not the player."

Dave that was pretty funny! Love the conspiracy theory stuff, but I see one small flaw in your secret Presidental plan. If you go through with it you may as well triple eliminate Dilana, Toby and Magni tonight. None of them are eligible to run for president since they weren't born in the USA. I know I know, it's a technicality. HA!!

Posted by: michele at August 30, 2006 09:28 AM

You're kidding right? Ryan over Magni?? Are we watching the same performers?

Ryan slithering over the piano, loosing his mike, straining his voice and barely holding a tune? That Ryan? The "pianoman"? He should be on tour with Elton John, not SN!

Wow, I'm totally confused at this point. Generally, from what I'm reading on the boards, people hated that performance of his - even his fans.

What a great read! Are you recruiting members for this elite band of rock musicians/reality show contestants/vigilantes because I would love to join! If only to sport the cool logo and be privy to secret songwriting meetings geared to reprogramming the infidels!

Love you (and your opinions) on Rock Star! It will be fun to see how the votes work out, who the band picks and how it all comes together in the end. Whoever wins, I'm still buying the new CD because I love those guys. These guys were running the show when I was in high school! I'm sure they will pick the person they think fits best and since they are successful enough to be in the position to get to pick in the first place, whoever they choose is going to rock.

Can't wait for tonight's show!

I COULDN'T HELP BUT NOTICE HOW THIS BLOGPOST APPEARED BEFORE VOTING CLOSED LAST NIGHT. UH, RIGHT... YOU'RE NOT TRYING TO SWAY VOTING AT ALL!!!

RYAN'S PERFORMANCE WAS SO ENHANCED FOR AIRING ON TV. WE, IN THE AUDIENCE THAT DAY WERE SO NOT DIGGIN' IT. WE ALL HAD A HARD TIME KEEPING OUR ARMS UP IN THE AIR BECAUSE WE'RE ALL CONFUSED GOING, WTF, IS HE GOING TO SING THE DAMN SONG?

EVERYONE - WHEN HE JUMPED OFF THE PIANO THEY INSERTED A CANNED CHEER. THERE IS A SHOT OF A GIRL HALF CLAPPING, LOOKING CONFUSED AND THAT SUMMED UP HOW WE ALL FELT AS THE AUDIENCE.

THAT IS WHY RYAN WAS IN THE B3, IT'S THE AUDIENCE THAT MAKES THAT FIRST PRELIMINARY VOTE, NOT THE "VOTING PUBLIC".

PEOPLE EVERYWHERE ARE REMARKING ABOUT HOW GREAT TOBY WAS AND HOW IMPRESSED THEY'VE BEEN WITH HIM LATELY.

DAVE, ARE YOU TRYING TO STEAL HIS THUNDER??

Sheesh, just when I thought the vibe was becoming more professional around here. hmmmmmm.....

Posted by: Niki at August 30, 2006 09:42 AM

I'm sure Storm Large can take a solid punch, too. Does that mean that you guys should start beating her in the face, too? Come on guys, get real. At this point everyone should be able to take criticism, so why single Storm out of the entire group when her performances are beyond solid?

Addtionally, what is up with the idiotic editing for television? What is the intention of showing harsh criticism of her by Dilby, but the editing out the INTENSE BOOING that occurred during taping so that the audience at home doesn't realize how hard the audience in person took it?

A little creative manipulation, too?

No, most of us don't see a conspiracy. We just see what is clearly happening -- serious Mark Burnett manipulation.

And for a "producer" of the show you sure don't seem to know anything, watch anything, be aware of anything, have any say in anything, have any control over anything or have any responsibility for anything. I don't think you should be getting hated on for simply having a different opinion and I think you are (for the most part) reasonably fair and straightforward in your thoughts on and off the show, but I just don't get the point in giving you the title of "producer" if all you're going to do is drop in, film a quick taping and jet on to the next thing and not have any real part of the show itself.

Posted by: WTF? at August 30, 2006 09:43 AM

great post dave -

to me, it boils down to this: they were all great last night, it's just that dilana and lukas are rock-stars, and the others are great singers. d and l have the intangible stuff - the swagger, the secure stance on stage, the presence... it will be interesting to see which way the sn guys go with this one. from the peeks we get on the camera angles, it seems to me that gilby is more into lukas and jason is more into dilana... can't seem to get a read on tommy, other than he looks to be pretty into brooke :-)

thanks for hosting this site, dude. the new pc tracks are awesome - great new band. go dave, go!

Posted by: BlueBear at August 30, 2006 09:44 AM

Dave, I agree with you about how awesome Dilana is... but my pick for the bottem three this week are Storm, Toby, and Ryan. I don't like Lukas simply because he seems to have too much ego and I think will ultimaely have big problems with control, but I do have to say his performance last night gave me goose bumps. Toby is a darling and I love him but he seems too much the lamb being fed to the lions. lol I hope it's between Dilana and Magni I really like them both, but then I wanted it to be Mig or Ty last season, so what do I know?1

Posted by: Michelle at August 30, 2006 09:44 AM

The ability of a great frontperson is to be able to create and deliver. Changing the arrangement of an American classic and delivering an awesome performance is why Lukas is heads and shoulders above the rest.
For Dilana to take a song that she has performed many, many times prior to Rockstar and then deliver an adequate, vocally bland and at times uncomfortable performance shows the making of a good cover band singer.

Dilana as a Contender is really a Pretender.

Lukas is the real deal!!!!!!

Daves's bitch XOXOX says Ryan too rehearsed.
Shane says "the pianoman" fucked up his performance.
Some will say that Lukas is a one-trick pony, others will claim he's the one.

Po-tae-toe/po-tah-toe

At this point, everyone's got a favorite. Maybe we should just enjoy what's going on and hope that the next few shows are as exciting as yesterday's.

My girlfriend was pissed off at Dilana yesterday 'cause her performance was great; it might put Ryan (her fave) and Magni in the B3.

As for myself, I've decided to just sit in front of the TV for the next two weeks to watch the remaining "rockers" (as Brooke says - so we don't confuse them with plumbers or doctors) give us more inspired performances. Sure beats "Celebrity duets", doesn't it?

And if in the end, I'm not happy with the outcome, I just won't buy the record. I've watched the whole season last year, and I don't even care for INXS!

Chill, people, chill...

Just like Dave said, the more you'll talk about someone, the more shit it's going to brew. Peace!

"I don't like Lukas simply because he seems to have too much ego and I think will ultimaely have big problems with control"
hmmm... Sounds like Dilana as well... flipping off photographers, smashing glasses, running off her mouth about everyone even to the press... hmmm...
Sounds like two peas in a pod to me...

oh except Lukas is actually a good lyric/songwriter... guess that's their main difference...

It's amusing to watch all the twelve year old kids posting here and admiring and worshipping Dave like he's some sort or keymaster that cat let you through the gate that transforms you from a spooky-kid into a true goth.

As a true oldschool goth/punk, I'll say that I like some of Dave's work. But seriosly - kids - you're looking pathetic with all of your worship and drivel and naming yourself such clever things like "Vlad".

It's kids like you that make me embarassed to be identified as a goth. And I'm still in my 20s.

By the way, Storm Large all the way. Frankly, I like all of the remaining talents and contestants far more than I like the judges and their worthless commentary. Since when is telling a chick to wear less or telling a violin player that she's "doing great honey" constructive? That's just fucking juvenile and condescending. Newsted knows how to offer constructive critique. Tommy just nows how to be a sexist prick and Gilby just . . . fuck, who knows what the hell is up with Gilby. He seems to have it in for Storm. Is it because he finally met her fiance and realized that he didn't have a chance in hell to score with her and is jealous? I mean really, what the hell is his deal? At this point in the competition, everyone is doing pretty well. Storm blew the doors off the place and all he could do was tell her it wasn't memorable?I also agree with the other people who have mentioned that the editing is poor. I have heard from a lot of people who attended the taping that said the boos and jeers in response to Gilby's comments were so long and loud that Storm said "I'ms orry Gilby, I can't respond to you if I can't hear you". But on television, it was completely edited out so you only here a second of "boos", then a weird audio cut-out and then she's taken off stage.
For the rest of you on this site... why don't you guys start judging people for their talent rather than how many outfits they buy at Hot Topic?

That was a joke?

And what's up with all those posters that use ALL CAPS on their comments?

You failed your anger management class?

(you'll probably say IT FAILED YOU, since you're in denial...)

That shit is UNREADABLE (see, I told you). It's hard enough to read the white font on a black background; big letters are a pain to read.

I don't read you anymore, so don't bother. If you have something worthy to say, write it down calmly and I'll read you. Otherwise, I'll just ignore the post.

Jessica, you said "I think Storm tried at the song, but it just didnt work out for her. It happens. I however think, just because she has been in the bottom three these past few weeks that she might be going home tonight."

Storm Large has NEVER been in the bottom three. EVER. Not once. Not twice. And certainly not the three times you are claiming. There have been ONLY THREE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN IN THE BOTTOM THREE.

These three people are: STORM LARGE, DILANA, LUKAS.

First time ever I went to vote last night and it the website was responding with an error. We have a right to go to you because your name comes up as "Executive Producer" on the show credits. Right? Sounds like your job to follow up and make sure it happens...Anyhow I genuinly admire that the singers are working with one another. Since this is a contest I think that's all the more exciting, surprising, and great. Toby + Z, Toby + Storm, Magni + Z = coolNess.

I freaking love Dilana Dave I adore her, man I wish I could buy tickets now and know that I would be seeing her

Posted by: silvia at August 30, 2006 10:03 AM

So Dave! With all the conspiracies going around about Supernova tell me this; does the conspiracy include Tommy? I truely need him to go a little wild on RS:SN (i.e. show MORE tats, skin, piercings etc.). Also, Sweet Jason...ahhh..can't say enough (show MORE of him and I'll....sorry gotta go!).

=-) Angel

hey Dave,

Is there really any other choice besides Dilana??? come on guys,,, she's the greatest thing I ahve heard in this century. She would command a lot of $ for her shows, Lukus is okay but hooters is best for him

Posted by: chris c at August 30, 2006 10:07 AM

A request from some of us audience members...

Can Tommy show up sober tonight???
That 10 gallon hat he wore didn't hide his drunkeness on last night's show!!!

"Is there really any other choice besides Dilana??? come on guys,,, she's the greatest thing I ahve heard in this century."

I have to ask, is your name Helen Keller?

a mental institution is where Dilana needs to be strapped down at. nutty bitch

Posted by: amle at August 30, 2006 10:13 AM

I think the reason you were left messages about the voting problems is because we KNOW you actually read yours. It was a major problem...seems more complaints about Lukas than others but saw comments on some other rockers as well. I think if people knew who to contact about it then they would. There really should be an email or space set up on the Rockstar site for this type of thing.
I guess I can see why you like Dilana but I just cannot really get into her. I think her voice is limited and I started being bored with her after a few shows. She is great for one or two songs but after that I would be wanting more. Also, I do not think last night was her best vocally but maybe stage wise.
Toby really made Storms song better but I think she held her own on a tough song.
TOby did really great but since I was wowed so much by Lukas' performance of that song, I cold not help but compare the two.
Magni is unbelievable. I just think he may be too tame and serious for this band. I do believe he is probably the best vocalist.
Ryan is also very talented. However, I see a micromanager in him and a perfectionist. I wonder if he would not be happier in control of his own band.
Lukas...oh my God. What a talent. He amazes me how he can take a song I love and change it and make it better. Then when I hear the original I am left feeling flat. He has wowed me with that talent all season. For me, that is what sets him apart. Well, that and that damn mojo of his. I do not mind the back thing because you get to see the behind :). Of course, I also love his voice and songwriting skills. I just think he is a natural for this business. He is RocknRoll.
Peace

I want to second the request that was made about 2,000 posts ago, or maybe even on another thread, that an unedited version of the RSSN season be released on DVD for those of us who are unable to attend the tapings. I know from some of the spoiler sites that a lot gets edited out, and it seems to me like it's the most interesting parts. I would love to see the show in person but since I live in Florida, am raising a 5 year old and work 40 hours a week, it's not exactly feasible.

On another note, I can't believe all the crap you've had to put up with over the last couple of weeks and I can't even begin to understand the people who post here just to slam you. It's so rude. This is YOUR house. God bless you and your sense of humor. Never having visited your site prior to this year's Rock Star, I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing what it's like the rest of the time. Peace.

Just want to respond quickly to rob k's post. I didn't mean to offend you in any way rob. I was not talking about those who make their living as photographers. I should have been more clear. I simply hate it that these paparazzi assholes can't seem to leave people to their life once they step off the red carpet. That's all I meant. Didn't mean those who actually make their living decently and without invading people's privacy. There is definately a difference. Sorry for not being more clear in my thoughts there. My bad totally.

Posted by: Jami at August 30, 2006 10:18 AM

PJ you are right on about why people post on here. It IS because Dave reads the blog.

By the way DAVE, I downloaded your CD and it rocks!!!! Love the first song. It is on repeat on the way to work and LUKAS is playing on my way home from work. Cant wait to see what you are wearing tonight babe.

Posted by: AngelofLukas at August 30, 2006 10:19 AM

Dave Dave DAVE... come on brother best of two seasons??? First she is singing a song she performs all the time which make it look rehearsed and generic also, when JD performed Suspicious Minds he was bagged so bad for doing a song that he's done many times before. It seems like it was kinda strange that Dilana got that song as a choice and Lukas gets a song by a band that he a) doesnt like b) never performed c) and rearranges it, and performs it extremely well. And I know you gave Lukas his props but I just wanted to put that out there... And BTW about the flying V, along with that, the kick stand, and the Michael Jackson kick Dilana's moves seem a little 80's to me!!

BUT I LOVE YOU DAVE!! and that whole conspiracy thing was hilarious!!!

Posted by: Nyree at August 30, 2006 10:21 AM

That's it! I was gonna keep my mouth shut, and stay cool, but now 324 comments, and so many whining and bitching and rude ones. ARGHH!

Look ppl, the net has been WAY WAY slow for a few days now. That's how things go. That's the NATURE of the NET. Stop freaking whining. You know the RS site is hosted by MSN, so contact MSN. SO easy, so simple. AND don't ask how to contact MSN, go bloody look for yourself. Think damn it.

AND no one is being UNFAIR to any of the contestants. Bloody hell. That BS talk makes me want to gag. They are all LUCKY they got as far as they did.

Sorry Dave, usually I'm a peaceful person. :) But GRRRRR!!!!!

Posted by: ylais at August 30, 2006 10:25 AM

I also wanted to add that you are getting all these problems that you have nothing to do with addressed to you because ... You are our voice and we know that you actually care enough to read your blogs... So on behalf of everyone I apologize for addressing problems which are not of your concern, But It is just an attempt to speak through you in hopes that you relay the message to the proper person on our behalf!! Thanks for all you do DAVE U DEFINATLY ROCK!!!!

Posted by: Nyree at August 30, 2006 10:26 AM

Just rewatching last night's show. Just wanted to mention that Nate Dawg on Drums is a freakin' monster. That dude is a complete badass!! His grooves kick all these songs up a notch without being overly obtrusive.

Peace!

Now here is a conspiracy theory I see other board saying they will stop watching the show if Storm goes that those comments were mean and not accurate.

Huhhhhhhhh?

That was pretty awful folks I don't what you all think counts for talent but that performance wasn't it.I realize she is cool and hot and gives a great effort but we are judging people on talent not if they are going to be nice to Dilana when she has her next meltown.Crazy.

Posted by: KeithMoonLives at August 30, 2006 10:33 AM

Just make sure it's Hilary Clinton Dave.

Thank you.

PS. I am soooo glad that Dilana got a spanking because suddenly all the other singers are acting like they have a chance.

I may even stand corrected in saying none of them has a change in hell in a solo career. After tonight's show. They just might.

Manq Here

Dave, I have become a huge fan of the show. Kept it on the downlow. All I'm gonna say is this.

Personally, I just want to see someone jump over a couch. Because that's how I've been rocking out since I was 14. When the moment is right you need a couch to jump over.

Nothing says rockstar like soaring high above the sofa man.

Feel me??

I love the show! (INXS and Supernova versions) I'm just wondering why you seem so angry this time around, especially when you're asking questions! You say you're more objective this season but it just seems like you're more tense, like you're grilling the contestants about a murder or something. Lighten up!

Posted by: chat at August 30, 2006 10:57 AM

Hah, I knew you were teaming up with Mark Burnett and Tommy Lee to take over the world, and Rock Star is just a stepping stone to that. I mean, it's so incredibly obvious.

Thanks for giving me a much needed laugh.

Man do I love this show! As a N.O. kid who grew up in the punk scene turned stay at home mommy, this show is sparking a longing for those good ol' days at the VFW hall. Want to know one of my fondest memories as a teenager? Being the first in line for a Janes Addiction show with...Gwar(?) Lord knows my mind was probably altered so I could have the opening act mixed up with another show back in 1990. What I am positive about is I was such a lover of your music. As some of your bandmates were arriving for soundcheck I quickly hopped that barricade to get a picture with those guys. What a memorable time for me!

This show is da bomb Dave! Thanks for getting your alternative bad-ass in the mainstream to remind us conformists where we really came from.

I have been composing a fan appreciation letter for weeks now. Is there an email address I can send a letter to that would be read by Dave/Supernova?

I hope the tour includes a stop in New Orleans. With all that is going on down here, having a little distraction/entertainment would be a very good thing. It has been YEARS since I attended a real live concert!

My pick, Dilana if she doesnt win it I would be very surprised. Not only am I digging the performances and your hosting but man I am so surprised at how much I am in love with Gilby and Jason. No offense Tommy, but who DIDNT already know how cool you are?

Posted by: gypsychic at August 30, 2006 11:05 AM

Dave, you crack me up! You put up with more shit than you deserve man, and with such good humor. It's gotta be frustrating saying the same thing over and over, but still people aren't getting it. You handle it well. One question though, can your readers suggest candidates for you guys, or do you have your 2008 guy already squared away? Maybe you can give it to ho ever comes in second place.

new record at 6767 Dave.
Well quantity wise anyway ;-) 337 comments. The old record was 334 on the 8/25 blog.

I think it's a conspiracy! MSN has to be behind it :-p

Thank goodness! Finally someone who has a blog worth reading. Dave You Rock! And your blog post are so well worth reading, I love how you get to the point, and tell it how it is.

Now, hopefully this band will see that Dilana is what they need for their new band. She is truly a breath of fresh air to the stage, and will bring something to a band that needs to be noticed.

HEHE. You really got me laughing. Excellent!

Posted by: Melissa at August 30, 2006 11:15 AM

Lukas? Awesome?

I must be going deaf.

I thought Lukas's voice sounded thin and weak, as usual. He didn't bother to learn any lyrics past the first verse and half of the chorus (no surprise there, either). His posturing and pelvic gyrations were laughable. And this has nothing to do with his singing, but who the hell "flips" chicken wings? Is he really that much of a moron?

I was previously baffled by why Supernova and you, Dave, seemed so bedazzled by this gothic hobbit. I would yell at the TV (yes, maybe I'm not so sane myself), "But he SUCKS! He CAN'T SING. He's a POSEUR." Now, though, I've come to the conclusion that Lukas is just what Supernova deserves. If they're so willing to be overcome with love for his obvious posturing and terrible, affected vocal style, then they're welcome to it. I'll never buy a Supernova album or go to a concert with Lukas as their lead singer, but then I doubt Supernova will be together for very long, anyway.

Lukas was the worst of the night last night. It blows my mind that his ass-raping of "Lithium" can win such accolades, while Storm's knocked-it-out-the-box version of "Bring Me to Life" merits merely a collective "eh." Supernova obviously has scales over their eyes (and ears) with regards to Lukas. I've given up caring about the results of this show because it's so obvious that Supernova has no taste in singers.

This is an earlier post..............Too freakin funny.........Magni the Magnificient.......They forgot the enemy from the land of Drama and their Queen Dilana.
Lord Lukas fights the battle to reign supreme while the town cryer Ryan o'Rumour is entertained by the temptress Storm of Large but everyone keeps high spirits by being entertained by Toby EVS the court jester.
Know there's a movie plot.

I was at the Foo Fighters at the Pantages last night, and in his incomparable comedic way, Grohl gave Supernova a shout-out. "Fucking Supernova, shit. We're fucking SuperDuperBand."

Cool to see Pat Smear on stage with Grohl again.

Dave:

Again, thank you for your time, openness, and effort with your blog and site here. I appreciate it.

I can't tell you how happy I am to see the energy and direction of the show back on track. Awesome!

I think the fans did a fabulous job in choosing songs for the contestants. Right on in the choices. I appreciate the effort and energy that Ryan, Toby, Dilana, Lucas, and Magni put into their performances. Rocked.

I am a reader and coach by profession and I enjoy being the observer and watching all the dynamics in play. I always learn a lot personally and professionally as the observer. I generally don't watch reality shows--this is the one that I watch. If you knew me in person you wouldn't really associate me with a rock reality show--one of my personal pleasures.

I still do hope that the band chooses Dilana and Lucas as co-leaders. Talk about dynamics!

I certainly wish everyone all the best. Much love!

Have Fun,
Jen
