Saturday Update
Let me make this clear (ONe) last time. I have absolutely nothing to do with the voting. That is all Supernova. I don't even go home and call in or use the net to vote on my own. The opinions expressed on this site are simply my own. I am the one panel member who has the luxury of expressing his thoughts outside of the show, so I do. At the end of the day, however, it is their band and I in no way influence who they are going to choose or send home as is evident in some of my past incorrect predictions. In fact, my opinions are just as valid as yours, the only difference is that I make mine public due to my involvement on the show. My job is to run the couch and give an outsider's opinion, just as it was last year. So know that I am not giving anything away or paying more attention to someone so that the outcome could be predicted. Tommy, Jason and Gilby have to work with the winner, tour and start a new career with them. There is nothing I could do or say that would make them go a direction they don't want to go in. I know for a fact that they don't even know yet.
Just got home from Canada. We had the best time up there. It seems that a lot of people were upset about the lack of signings and photos that we were able to do. (Trust me, we are honored that some people even want us to do that.) I guess this is the best time to explain how and why it sometimes works that way. With photos and signings, when there are a lot of people waiting, it's kind of uncool to only do some and not others and we are usually being rushed off to another "scheduled thing" or as in after The Edge radio interview, directly to catch a flight. (In fact, that is why The Edge interview was so quick.) So, if I can't get to everybody, I don't feel right doing just a few. The only other times I can't do it is when I am in the middle of personal time. We appreciate everyone turning up and supporting us and if our inability to hang was offensive to some, I apologize, it really isn't personal or intentional. We absolutely adore our fans. We think of them as the heart and soul of The Panic Channel. Without them, we wouldn't even exist!
BTW: Spread Radio Live today.

I'm sorry this RS: SN thing has so much negativity being posted about it. It must be incredibley stressful for all involved.
I just want to thank you for giving us a chance to see all these talented people that we otherwise might have missed.
I'm also very glad that Supernova are, ultimately, the ones to choose whom they want for their band. Who would want to be in a band if you knew you weren't their first choice but instead had just been chosen by popular vote? It would be a tad awkward.
I wish whoever gets this gig the best and will definitely follow the careers of some of the others. Thanks again.

Dave - I've commented over at the My Space Page - was wondering if you actually read all the comments? From what I see - you're reading some sort of feedback and you're actually defending yourself. Not a bad thing - but seriously - there's no need to defend yourself. You're doing a GREAT job - you are more in touch with your fans than ANY other talent I've seen. I personally appreciate your taking the time to blog and give us insight into your crazy life!
Now - take some time for yourself and relax a little! We'll miss you - but we all understand you need a break from us every now and then!
{oh .... and yeah ... Ryan's gonna win!}
Posted by: Willo Keays at August 26, 2006 04:46 PM
Dave - thanks for trying (again) to set the record straight. I don't know how many times you have to say that you don't know who wins, nor do you have a say in who does. The SN guys have the last say and we all learn the outcome at the same time. At this point, they are all great singers and really it's gonna be a drag to see each one go. But someone has to win. My vote is for Ryan. Although I understand your reasoning about the autographs and such, I also think that no matter what you'll never make everyone happy. (as is rather apparent on this blog) I would think that being able to give something to some of your fans would be better than none.? Just my 2 cents. I love my TPC CD and I'm looking forward to finally being able to catch SPL tonight. Take care and I hope you enjoy some downtime tonight at home.
Much Love from MN.

Dave,
I am so sorry that you seem to be getting a hard time about the whole SN thing. It seems as if you keep having to explain yourself more than you need to. I don't know SN personally but from what I have seen on tv, there is no way that anyone could influence Tommy, Gilby, and Jason. Those guys are three independent men who have a mind of their own and if anyone saw them perform with their past groups and now would know that. I think that is really cool not to leave anyone out if you are going to do a signing or meeting. I know some people will be upset but if you eventually make it up, things should be cool. What time is SRL going to happen tonight? Take care and keep up the great work!
Love ya babe!

keep in mind dave, the signal to noise ratio on the internet makes a Metallica concert seem as quiet as a uh...dead rat. Something. Anyway, You can only explain yourself so many times, people either get it or don't. Peace.

I just finished reading your book. I think it took a lot of courage to write. And the more I listen to your new CD, the more I enjoy it. Teahouse of the Spirits, Bloody Mary, Why Cry and Blue Bruises…good stuff.
I have to admit - I am not the biggest fan of reality TV but I have enjoyed the few episodes that I have watched. You are by far the biggest asset to the show. Just make sure you take some time off when it is done...maybe even a few days away from reading blog comments. You deserve it and trust me the public will still be here when you get back.

Loved your interview on The Edge, as always your a PLEASURE to listen to. Loved the AT&T stuff as well. Specially since you mentioned my home town, SLC. I surely hope we've been good to you.
I have had your book now since it came out but with school and family and work, haven't had time to read. Most of my "reading" nowdays is comes from listening to books on CD..It would totally rock my world to hear your voice reading the book.. any thoughts on that? In all seriousness though I would understand if that's not a place you personally would like to visit again, but if it's possible an audio version would be great!!
I remember a while back that you mentioned you wanted to kick the camel habit, wondered if you are having any luck with that? And..I thought I could drop you a little incentive.. did you know that smoking is a leading cause of penile dysfunction in men over 40? hmmmm..food for thought.. recent split.. approaching 40.. J/K just thought I'd lighten the mood around this place for you..
Love ya doll!

Now the conspiracy people will think Dave's post is an attempt to hide the conspiracy. I say let them worry about it. It keeps their mind off the fact that the CIA and FBI are broadcasting mind control waves that only they can hear. WTF...

Dave,
Loved The Edge interview w/ Isaacs. Your best line was about excluding John Mark Karr, JonBenet suspect, from the circle of love (oNe). He's definitely not invited. Straight up. I also appreciated how The Edge interviewer gave props to Perkins and Chaney, two of the most talented musicians on the planet (next to you and Isaacs, of course).
Posted by: Bri@n at August 26, 2006 05:02 PM
Dave, I agree, how many times do you have to explain to people that you have no control over whose in and whose out. It has been my experience that people are always going to find something to complain about no matter what you do. Usually, I am one of them, ha! JK, ....em no I'm not.
As far as upsetting us Canadians, don't worry about eh! You do what you can, when you can and by the way thanks for posting your interview for The Edge. I am sure if time permitted you would have signed some autographs and enoyed the Great White North a little longer.
have a good night.
Posted by: Noelle at August 26, 2006 05:03 PM
Yo Dave, just to echo some of the other comments, I think it is fantastic how "in touch" you are with your fan base...a real treat.
Interesting hearing the interview on The Edge -- especially y'all talking about the dynamics on "ONe" -- "Night One" is my favorite track for that exact reason.
Rockstar stuff: Thanks for your insights. I don't understand how people can be so negative about everything. Life is too short. Anyway take it light and bring Panic Channel up here to Seattle!
Posted by: Jamie at August 26, 2006 05:04 PM
You keep hearing it Dave. Your REAL TRUE fans love you and the Panic Channel no matter what. We know how to forgive and forget if and when you do mess up. The appologies are appreciated but almost not necessary. You are doing a great job. Keep up the Great work!!! <:

You certainly don't have to explain yourself - the people criticizing have no idea what "celebrity life" is all about, nor the time implications involved when you are in the public eye, surrounded by people who have a sense of entitlement to you and your life. People will always expect you to be all things to all people, but as long as you meet your own expectations, that is what matters at the end of the day. So glad you had a great visit to Toronto (where I live!). I'm sure the Brass Rail will never be the same! Love ya, keep doing what you do - I love you for it.

Dilana expressed her opinions about the other folks to the media. Blunder? Perhaps. But let's take a trip back to the INXS gig. JD dissed all his mansion mates during one of the performance shows (I believe it was performance and not elimination). He stated that he lived/loved INXS from birth and looked at all the other contestants and said that they had to learn INXS' music. That did cause a stir at the mansion....but he won anyway.
This is a contest/competition - you know dog eat dog at this point. Each of the rockers left is either going to go home or be chosen and from watching the performance and elimination episodes I keep hearing all of you on the couch telling this group of folks "game on" and be so dynamic that we will pick you in the end.
This isn't a love fest - it is a competition. Not saying one has to be totaly uncivil to the other competitors, but each person left has to cover his/her own ass at this point.
I think Dilana's apology on the elimination show was acceptable and since we all know that we do not see everything that happens, do any of us know if she did or didn't make one-on-one apologies that was edited out - just like last year's heated controversies.
On another subject, congrats on your new cd being released and though I haven't heard the tracks yet, I plan on putting a bug in my 17 yr old's head about getting the CD since he snarls at me when I ask "who's that" while cruisin' him to school. He snorts and looks at me like I am from another planet and says "IT"S METALICA MOM.....geesh."
Dave, be sure to stop and "smell the roses" every day - even if it is only for a minute. Helps to keep one balanced.

I completely agree about all the conspiracy crap. Why can't people just watch and enjoy a good thing? It takes all kinds to make the world go round, I suppose. Although, I wouldn't mind a little wobble in that go round if we could be spared the company of some.
Dave, I watched this show last year because of you. I've never been a big fan of INXS or that type of music. You made the show interesting though. I was disappointed when they made you and Tommy put your shirts back on in that one episode this season though. Damn sensors! Ruined the whole show if you ask me.
I grew up listening to Gilby, Jason, and Tommy. I'm now watching and enjoying them this year with my kids, who are getting too close to grown themselves. They like the music and have even downloaded and begun to listen to some of their older music too. My point is...without you being on this show to bring it to the public's attention, that same public would be missing out on some really great talent. I think it is a great thing you are doing for the contestants on the show. They are getting publicity and exposure they would never get on their own. People need to realize that is one of the reasons for this show...finding Supernova a lead singer is not the only reason this show exists. Keep up the good work!!

Dave ... I love reading your take on things. Everyone should realize that you don't make the decision and that you are just giving an opinion to us. I for one am think it's great and hope you continue to do so.

Dave I'm not about to dispute what you say regarding votes etc. However, for you to pre-emptively decide to try to give Dilana some more props this coming sunday for her "owning up" (arguable) is possibly showing a bias opinion toward Dilana, and yer comments do effect the voters' opinions.
We don't even know what is to transpire at the mansion between now and then. Her behavior may be forgiven by the people actually affected by her actions. Or, her unprofessionalism may continue to escalate, making matters even worse or more difficult for those affected, who knows.
So perhaps you should let it go and move on, as you suggested yourself. Dilana is a big girl, she will reap what she sows. It doesn't reflect well when one of the shows producers says he's "going to try and say something about Dilana owning up to her mistakes" you've already done that. Sometimes conspiracy theories are based on these kinds of comments.
Sorry dude, had to be said, by a fan.

Dave,
Hahaha, very clever: "Let me make this clear (ONe) last time." That's great. :p I've gotta say, you're a gem. Like some of the others have been saying, you don't need to explain yourself, but the fact that you still try and let us see where you're coming from is something else. And looking at the comments in this entry makes me so glad to see some of the sweet people I've seen posting here before, who really appreciate what it is your doing for your fans and for the music industry.
Glad you and the guys had fun. Good onya for trying to be fair towards your fans. Now, like Willo Keays said a few posts up, take some time for yourself at some point too, and relax. :)
Much Love,
~Ali

But seriously, ur 2 cents is on the money for me most of the time. Keep it up, and as for the whole Dilana thing, it is what it is. Hey Dave,
I was on your plane yesterday from Toronto. Saw the dejected look on the guy's face who asked you for an autograph for his kid (right!) while you trying to eat dinner in the airport bar. Being the good guy you are, you gave in. Just want to say, keep rocking. When are we gonna see you live?
Posted by: JustMe at August 26, 2006 05:50 PM
Dave,
Although you feel you do not have anything to do with the selection process although tecnically that may be true, But your opinion has alot to do with how people vote and to think otherwise is very nieve on your part. It is a huge compliment to you IMO that I say this. You are a respected musician that people trust so when you say things like I really hated that to Storm although it is your opinion and you are welcome to have it, it does effect the way people judge the contestants. I have said this before I think in the spirit to which you say your role is on the show you should only give the contestants advice on how to get better. That is why I really hope you rethink praising Dilana on Sunday I really do not think it is warrented and again it will influence the voting public. I really admire the fact you put yourself through this stuff day after day but then again it must be really cool to have people who care enough come and post on your blog day after day. My mom emails me once a week..lol..

HEY Dave,
First SRL live show I've tuned into.
Don't have a computer (i'm just a punker from way back). But my kid sis(joanna from toronto) is a huge fan of yours since Jane's days, so she's sending this one out for me.
On one of your SRL shows, if not this one, then maybe one of your future shows, I'm interested in hearing some early vintage punk from Toronto.
I used to see bands at places like Larry's Hideway. It was the place to see bands.
Maybe you were there once in some of your journeys. It was like the CBGB's of Toronto. Too bad it burned down due to a bunch of reckless squaters burning their fingers with matches/crackheads.(some historia gone forever).
The band I'd like to hear on one of your SRL shows is the Notorious VILETONES with lead singer Steven Leckie/Nazi Dog on vocals Album Viletones Greatest Hits or Saturday Night/Sunday Morning recorded Live at Larry's Hideaway. I'd like to hear some of their early stuff.
Or some early Screaming Sam and the Problems/ bass guitarist from the Viletones gone solo.
That's if you were ever into their music, because they were really big in my time late 70s early 80s.
Steve Zelasko "the drummer"

Dave, this is a comment about an earlier post you made.
You said you think that Storm or Toby will be the next to go..
How can Storm be the next to go? Has Storm ever been in the final bottom three?
NOOOOOOO. She was only in the bottom three once during last week, after one minute of voting.
How accurate!
Magni has been in the bottom three twice in a row, and Toby was in the bottom three last week.
I honestly do not feel that it will be fair if Storm gets put in the bottom three, and then be sent home. I mean, how low can you go?
It'd almost be like saying; "We wanted you to go home before, but the people like you and we never got the opportunity."
Give me a break! Storm is the only one on the show who actually has range, other than Magni.
I understand that it's your opinion and that you are entitled to it, but I honestly feel that it's an unfair opinion.
And what about Dilana? You're going to praise her for owning up to her mistakes?!
This is one of the reasons why "reality" tv gets me so frustrated.
There is nothing "real" about it.
Would you honestly praise someone for talking about EVERYONE behind their backs, and then when they get confronted with it be like "Oh, it was a mistake. I apologise."
Of course she's going to say that!
It's going to be on TELEVISION, and the band that she wants to be in is right there, listening to everything she says.
Anyway, enough about Dilana. I could rant about her forever. Back to the point;
It would be highly unfair if Storm got sent home this week. Honestly, there would probably be an uproar. Not from Storm fans being so upset (although they would be), but because everyone who was watching the show would feel that the show was a rip-off, and cheap. And it would be. There is no way that they could justify sending Storm home after being in the bottom three once, when Magni has been in it twice. Especially after T-Lee made the statement about the fans buying the tickets for their concerts, and they have to please their fans. Obviously, they don't like Magni as much as they like Storm, so why would she be sent home after being in the bottom three ONCE?!
That'd be as stupid as if Toby was sent home last week instead of Patrice.
Posted by: Samantha at August 26, 2006 06:08 PM
Dave,
Something to keep in mind. You need to give yourself more credit, YOUR CRITIQUE GOES FIRST AND IS VERY INLUENTIAL. Sometimes it overshadows what SN says after you.
I know this by talking with people, and reading message boards. Nobody even remembered that Gilby and Jason said the bullhorn was okay with them and that Tommy was completely RoCkEd by Toby's BDTH. All they remembered was what YOU said.
THAT is how you influence voters. You have not given Dilana one little tiny bit of criticism and her performances have been far from flawless, and yet you are very hard on others.
GIVE YOURSELF MORE CREDIT.
I don't by any means think that you do it on purpose, btw.

Hey, you are always welcome to return to TO and get it all done another time. I never really got the whole signature thing. If I have the opportunity to meet someone that has had an effect on my life, the last damn thing I want to do is waste time getting a name on a piece of paper. I'm sure I can think of more to say than that.
Every star comes to TO eventually- hell, most of them come from here.
Look, Dave, this is your blog to talk about whatever you want. There is no need to be defensive or explain anything over and over. We either get it or we don't. Everyone likes you, and if they don't, who cares? It's all good.

Hey Dave,
I appreciate you taking the time to explain your involvement with Rockstar:Supernova(again) and hope that maybe this time people will understand so that you dont have to keep repeating yourself. I saw you and Steve on MOD and just wanted to say that you kicked serious ass and was just wondering that if(and hopefully, when) you tour for this c.d. whether or not you'll do shows in other canadian cities besides the BIG ones(toronto, calgary, vancouver). Cuz we love you here too in wonderful winterpeg manisnowba. Don't forget to relax.

Dave: I truly understand where you are coming from regarding autographs and pictures. You have a right to your personal time and for fans to intrude on it is rude. And you are a busy guy so fans should try to understand that it is not always possible for you to stop and sign things. Otoh, I can understand the fans pov because this may be the one shot they get to talk to a person they admire. It's a no win situation for anyone. That said, I do appreciate all the time you do devote to your fans or the time any musician can devote to a fan, for some it can be life changing.
As for you not having a role in the voting or decision. I respect that you think that but as others have said, as a producer of the show it would help if you were a tad more objective. It seems you wear your heart on your sleeve and when you find someone you really think is talented you seem to be a bit effusive in your praise. It would be nice to think that we are all adults and can make up our own minds but your words do have weight, especially since you are in the business. For those with no musical training, such as myself, it would be easy to be swayed by someone seemingly more knowledgable. "Well Dave's in the music businees, he must know what he's talking about."
You have said that you didn't want to get close to the rockers so that you could remain objective but I think, even though you don't hang with them, that you do have a vested interest in a couple of them. It shows in your comments or lack of comments. It seems that you've lost your objectivity because of a personal desire to see these individuals do well. I'm not trying to slag you in any way, just pointing out that perception is nine-tenths of the law...oh wait, that's possession but I don't think that applies to drugs does it...but I digress...anyway, the perception that people have that you favour one rocker over the other is the one thing that people will believe over what you say. They think they see something and will believe what they see, not what you say. Not that this is your problem. But if you want to appear truly objective then it's better to keep your comments impersonal rather than going off the deep end in your praise of them. Just my opinion.
Sooo....who's it going to be next year? Rockstar: ?????
Did I ever thank you for bringing good, live, rocking music back on tv?

Bottom line peeps there are no conspiracy theories as a poster said they don't have to kick anyone off if they don't want to.Has Supernova decided on a singer as of right now?Sure they may have. But you still don't know 100% for certain. There is no way as a viewer that you can tell. It's all speculation.
Supernova will pick the best fit who happens to bring the most to the table.Does Dave know who that is?Maybe maybe not.Bottom line is he ain't saying because then you have no show.So stop bitchin' at him and let him do his job.Just watch the damn show !

Here's a thought..get a really cool rubber stamp made with your name and logo and stamp instead of sign..that would go a lot quicker and it might ferret out the ebay autograph hounds, yet satisfy those seeking a personal momento.
Think how fun it would be to give a fan a temp tattoo with the stamp..and where they might request it. :D

Glad that you enjoyed your trip to Toronto. I live in Hamilton, Ontario, about an hour away, so unfortunately I wasn't able to see you.
While watching you on ET Canada I heard that you couldn't get a decent size of cake at the hotel you were staying in. Did I hear you say chocolate? Hmmmm, my favourite. What a shame. I'll have to take care of that the next time you come to Toronto.
Oh btw, too bad you went home right after the Edge. You may have enjoyed yourself at a club called, This Is London, which featured DJ Donald Glaude.
Thanks for RS SuperNova. Sure makes summer tv. much more exciting. Enjoy the show tomorrow, August 27th. I know I'm sure looking forward to it-good luck Lukas.
Take care.

Welcome back, Dave! Glad to hear my Canadian brethren/sisters did right by Steve and yourself on your trip. :-) I just finished listening to your SRL broadcast… LOL about the swarm of AIM messages, “cleaning your mouse while webcasting and dealing with warped shopping carts/shopping in the age of too many choices. Shopping is rough for the uninitiated—you might need special protective gear for that. LOL Dude, you’ve completely corrupted ;-) me now by turning me back onto radio with your kickin’ program. Next, you convinced me through your own positive example to sign up for MySpace and start blogging. LOL I’m also dropping words like “webcast and “podcast without batting an eyelash… If this continues, someone’s going to knock on my door and take away my “Luddite (just kidding, I love tech toys ;-) ) and “walking anachronism membership cards. Can it be anything but a slippery slope from here to AIM chat? ;-) Thanks, man, you’re increasing the ‘coolness’ content in my life and I love it. LOL Don’t sweat all the “RS:SN stuff. You have a great attitude and are doing an awesome job on the show. I was laughing listening to “The Edge broadcast about the enjoyable time you had with those *cough, cough* ‘friendly’ Canadian gals at the club. LOL Everyone needs a good guys/gals night out now and again. Definitely a ‘mood mender.’ ;-) And anyone who questions your commitment to your fans simply does not know you and hasn’t seen the time stamps on some of your posts. LOL Looking forward to seeing new “RS:SN. Peace, dude.

Dave ~ I just got done listening to SRL ~ It was awesome! It was interesting that you asked about whether your getting on Dilana was the right thing to do. Are you questioning your judgement? I wonder can you get at the other clips that we didn't get to see?
None of us knows exactly what she said to the reporters. None of us knows exactly what anyone else said. If she had indeed said that she and Lukas are a lot alike and sometimes she wants to punch him out, and other times she wants to take him under her wing, would it have looked as bad? I, for one, believe she said something to that effect, thus Jamie's saying to Lukas that Dilana wants to protect him, or save him. So if they edited that part down to make her look worse, what else did they edit out. Or, did Ryan say something snarky to provoke her? We will never know.
So she fell for the trap. And the result can really can affect her career, her future, and her psyche going forward, especially getting called on this on worldwide TV.
If she was a victim of an MBP evil edit, I hope you do something to help her out. She and the other rockers put a lot on the line to entertain us and to hopefully front this band. She made a mistake and she apologized. She deserves more respect than is being shown to her all over the net right now.

Evening, D & 67 Fam,
Dave, too bad you guys couldn't have swung by the NYC TPC party Wednesday, we had a blast at Snitch. Thanks to all who turned out. Next time...
I have to say, as much as I am into RS:SN, I am selfishly looking forward to the finale so that things around here can get back to normal, well, as "normal" as things get here! It's off the chain, over 300 comments for the last couple of entries?! I wouldn't mind if it was about TPC or DN, but enough with the freaking conspiracy bullshit and complaints. Can't wait for the fall tour.
Love,
Sue

Dave,
No need EVER to offer time to the public when or whatever is happening! My husband is well known in our little community as a fixture in healthcare scenerio. We have so little time alone with our schedules and plan one or two alone dates per year. We have our 2006'date', a movie and dinner. We get to the dinner part and someone that has been 'in love' with my husband since the early '70's sees him. The next thing I know is she arrives with her dessert, coffee and spouse in tow and sits down with us while we eat. Night ruined for alone time, person and spouse dive bombing our moment are very happy, she has gotten what she wanted (time with MY husband). We have decided the next date night will be either in costume or another city. I couldn't imagine what you must go through but keep true in your heart - your public will not like a stressed out Dave - so if a few get upset, so be it. They are too selfish to realize the humanity of life, rest and work!
Posted by: Scansalot at August 26, 2006 07:51 PM
Thanx Sue. I can't do that at work, some "sites" are restricted, not this one though, yet. LOL!! But you can bet your ass he's already on as "my friend" at myspace! ;-)

hey Dave..did you get to go with Tommy in the chopper to the 9 inch nails show? :D
Posted by: merrymagic at August 26, 2006 08:48 PM
Hey, Dave!
It's lonely at the top, isn't it? I feel for you. This season of RS must have seemed a lot like Roy's last encounter with his Siberian Tiger. Ouch! Props for bearing with it as well as you've done. It must be hard, trying to be impartial but having responsibilities when impartiality is a hindrance, not a good way to procede.
I've been reading the other comments here, and though I meant to leave this alone, I believe I do better to throw my weight to the crowd who question why you would want to make Dilana's gaffs last week, and your calling her on them, part of this week's entertainment.
She's a big girl, and it's not the first time she's talked trash about Lukas to the press. I'm sure you could find at least one interview -- try a Google search for Dilana, Houstoned, Houston press blog, July 20, 'You Go Rockstar' -- in which she's spoken badly about at least one other rocker, and in very much more intemperate language. (I didn't even need to go search to run across that piece of info.)
Dilana needs to take her lumps and deal with them herself. Her mommy doesn't need to tell the bad children they're being mean. Or her daddy, since her mommy doesn't seem to be part of her life now, for whatever reason. It's treating her as weak, juvenile, to try to defend her. Not a compliment to her talent at all. It's not like it's a cruel rumour that she said what she said, y'know?
You can't dam the power of the internet, Dave. People are going to find out that Dilana's got a pattern of bad-mouthing her opponents, and any attempt at sugar-coating last Wednesday's calling out of Dilana will be seen as hypocritical and unjust to the people she tried to harm, and possibly did harm.
Please rethink speaking about it on air. Let it die a natural death. The death throes may take a while to die down, but let it die. Don't prod the embers; you might start the fire going again.
As to conspiracy rumours, just don't take 'em so seriously! LOL. The best one I've come across so far says that Dilana deliberately threw her chance away by running off at the mouth on the press junket because she doesn't really want to win! You have to love an imagination like that. Conspiracy theories are just a little fun over the weekend until we get the next week's eps. If anyone does take them seriously, that's probably someone who isn't going to be impressed by anything rational you or I or anyone else has to say. Shoot, for all we know, Dilana is the forefront of an invasion of short aliens with weird red and black hair. It just could be true....

Hey Dave,
I read on another froum that you think the SN guys have lost fans because of all the controversy(sorry for the spelling) dude this is reality TV at its finest. The facted that this show is creating this much buzz tells me that you guys running the show are definatley doing it right. This show is bigger and stronger than it ever has been. The fact that people even come up with these thing means THEY ARE INTO THE SHOW and thats a good thing. I can understand your frustration reading over and over that you should do this or you should do that well the one thing you should do everytime you read one of those (and I have writen acouple of those myself) is count the dollars signs because thats what they are...
Posted by: Shawn at August 26, 2006 09:15 PM
dave, mabey if you say it one more time it'll stick!! just kidding, i think it's just another example of how people take "reality" tv a little too serious. I shouldn't even comment, i've been to busy to read the 300 posts every day, so i have no idea what has been said, but by your reaction, i can imagine. must suck to have the same request over and over again when you have been more than clear that you are simply not involed in that capacity!! I feel your pain brotha!!
love to you,

I feel that the voting has become a popularity contest not even based on the contestants singing that night, but rather just the contestant and where they're from. Because Storm's performance of "I will Survive" in no way shape or form was better than Magni singing "Starman" yet he was in the bottom 3, and she was safe. Perhaps it is because hes from iceland and in order for us icelanders to vote we must stay up very very late at night in order to vote, where Storm's fanbase in Oregon can vote at a normal time.

FUCK!!
DAVE NAVARRO! YOU'RE THE BEST!
You're timing for starting the live SRL was absolutely perfect for me tonight-
I was just starting a BBQ party with some friends & fam when you started you're show.
I was blasting SRL from my patio speakers/
and everyone was totally into your show!!
It was a huge surprise to everyone :)
But, I completely missed the beginning of the SRL because an already wasted guest backed into a neighbors tree!
And now after everyone has finally listened to your live SRL, I've been getting all these different music requests all night- as if I'm the radio DJ!
DAVE, I can't top that SRL show you put on tonight!
So , for over a couple of hours I was playing [ONe], then I played some One Hot Minute, and then I played some of your SRL rotation since everyone still needed more Dave Navarro :)
Hope you've seen my bro Steve's comments posted earlier in this blog during your SRL- his comments are genuine.
His music collection is what I grew up listening to way before my peers ever even started listening to punk, or goth, or grunge.
So I'd also really enjoy hearing some old Viletones on one of your next SRLs too.

I'm so kicking myself for missing your radio show again. But I work second shift. :( If you ever have insomnia and want to play a special late edition show I'll be here for you. I have to commend you, though, on all that you do, and deal with the crazies who think you have something to do with the voting. I don't know how you do it. I was at work last night, and someone comes over the intercom that they have a news story and someone needs to come out and talk to them ... I was like I don't want to go out there ... then someone goes out there, but the guy continues on about how someone looked at him and walked away and that was so unprofessional. OK, so I'm getting off topic here. Forgive me, it's Saturday night. Just wanted to say that I think it's great what you do for the fans. I just wonder when you have time for sleep
Posted by: Melissa S. at August 26, 2006 11:55 PM
My windows media player just randomly played some Ty Taylor and Jordis stuff from last year's show and man, my ears perked up. They'd both be perfect for Supernova. Just food for thought. Magni rocks, Toby should front the band, Storm is incredible, Lukas is great. Ryan and Dilana can both go away.
Dave, don't worry about pleasing all the fans. You have a schedule and the fans have to realize that if they want a piece of you, they have to fit into your time because yours is more limited than theirs. But yeah, hanging with fans is awesome for all involved. I don't think fans realize how much they actually mean to the artists they support, because it's like two-way energy that keeps the artist charging forward.

It's really sweet / kind and a reflection of who you are that you take the time to explain things that you don't need to. From readin the comments it seems that most of us agree and we as fans feel love and appreciation for the blogs, the communication and in general all the insights that you share with us. YOU make it feel like we're all part of ONe large community and that's only down to you and your efforts. It's impossible to please all the people all the time. I wrote this on MySpace a few days ago, and Steve was nice enough to let me know I should write you here. I got my BuzzFest tickets yesterday - I'm stoked!
Dave, I have to say that I loved what you said to Dilana tonight. She showed her ass - she was actually growing on me before tonight, but her attitude lost her a lot of fans; not the least of which was me. I was really hoping that after making your cut, you would have cut her as well just out of principle.
I want to say that I love your eloquence, and have always admired your style. I have only heard one song from the new CD so far, and seen the video, but I love it! Why Cry is great!
I'm really excited that you're coming to Buzzfest in Houston in October - can't wait to see you guys live. I will be buying my ticket first thing Saturday. I would love to challenge you to a game of pool after the show. :) I'll bring my stick.
I was very appreciative over what you said about being in tune with the fans and listening to what they have to say on the Internet and everywhere else - it's a very salient and valid point that they are the ones who buy the tickets. That's who the music is for - the people, not your own ego.
On that note, unlike a rock star (at 9:00 p.m.), I am going to bed. Tough week happening, but I will certainly find some time for rock and roll, as always!
It would be great to hear back from you if you have the time. I find your intelligence so refreshing - would really enjoy a dialogue. And I'm totally serious about that game of pool! :)

hi dave.
I saw on RS:SN credit that you are one of the many executive producers of the show but according to what I read here, you're just coming to taping twice a week and the rest of the time you're on the road with TPC.
as I see it you're more of a host (much like brooke..)
...
but don't mind me. i'm just bubbling.................
LOVE the new album! can't stop listening to "Left To Lose" GREAT STUFF!
.. ................................
PS(Dilana and SN deserve each other. all the rest deserve better!!)

Great SRL last night. Thanks for answering part of my question to you.
Something I read in the above comments rang true with me this morning. You are absolutely correct when you say you have no influence on the guys' decision, and that your opinions are your own. However, a couple of people were right when they said that since you voice your opinions first, and are often more eloquent and coherent than the SN guys, your opinion carries a lot of weight with the voters. The example used above was that the bullhorn Toby used was something you said was old and overdone, yet the SN guys didn't mind it at all. But, the "overdone" thing was all most remembered.
So, I think we all understand (or should) that you have no influence over SN's choices because it's their band and they have to choose whomever is best for them. But, you do have a lot of influence over the voters' perception. I often take your views into account, since you're sitting there in person, although I totally disagree with you on Dilana being so amazing, so I kinda just ignore you on that, lol.
Regardless, your insights and opinions are always very articulate and insightful. Thanks for that.
