Performances Tonight!
Damn there are some funny rumors around regarding the show. First of all, I don't know who Janet Charlton is, but I do know who she isn't. She aint no Perez Hilton, that's for sure. At least with Perez, you get humor and the rumors are at least based in SOME fact. He leaves it up to the reader to do the dance between the two. As for Janet, she just kind of sees what sticks. Well, with Rockstar, she doesn't have a clue as to what she is talking about. If she has an inside source... Name it! Come on! I dare you! Name it! If you don't know what I am talking about... She has claimed that she knows who the winner is. Trust me... Nobody knows until it's over. In fact, if there is one thing I CAN share, it's that Supernova has yet to be on the same page with each other in terms of favorites and they are waiting to see if their ideas line up in the coming weeks based on the remaining performances. Very diplomatic and democratic style. As for the stuff about Storm being edged out through our comments... That is just stupid. Don't forget that no matter what happens, the band can throw out whoever they want for whatever reason they want. They can also save whoever they want. Hell, they don't even need reasons! It is true that the public vote shifts the game in a huge way and that Supernova considers the results every week, but there is no reason for a conspiracy! Why would anyone try to conspire something that they ultimately control anyway? Just doesn't make sense. These guys are busy writing and rehearsing, not to mention that Tommy is still doing Crue stuff on our days off. They don't have time to come up with a "master plan". The remaining six are all good and tomorrow's elimination is bound to be heart-breaking for some! Each singer has a pretty solid fan base at this point. Tonight is the night, if ever there was one, to VOTE!!! I can't wait to see what kind of shit I get on this blog after the show. Since I am already at the tapings, my game has become reading all of your thoughts after each show airs.
Remember: "The views and opinions expressed in this page and on the couch are strictly those of the page author. The contents of this page have not been reviewed or approved by CBS, MBP or Supernova. Awwww hell yeah!"

I'm very much looking forward to tonights show and will be voting for the best performer, whomever it as, as I've been doing so far.
They're all good in highly individual ways and thanks again for showing us all the talent!

Anyways, Dave i just noticed the other night it says you are executive producer on the show, what exactly does that mean you do?!?! Just curious!! Thanks, Candice

hey dave,
i love the show and i love your blog. you update almost as often as i check in on it.
i always look forward to hearing your insider info and your opinion. i am thankful that you express your opinion, and you often reflect what i am thinking.
since i haven't commented before, i thought i'd let you know that i am voting for toby. i think dilana and lukas have been untouchable (like mig and marty last year) and they will be #2 and #3. but tommy seems to love toby, and man, he worked on stage with them last week. maybe my mind will be changed when i see someone else in front, but right now, toby's my man. even though he is almost guaranteed to be in the bottom three.
thanks again, dave. much love, kylen*

I think that people come up with these crazy ideas just to get attention. Some of the comments on this site are truly hilarious. I enjoy reading them, but as with everything, they must be taken with a grain of salt. By the way, Dave, I read your book. Now I get it.....damn!
Thanks for keeping this site going. It is absolutely fabulous.

i don't think it matters how many times you say it, or how many ways you say it --- there are some people who will always look for conspiracy and gossip..
i bet it's getting wearisome for you to have to repeat yourself so many times that the show isn't fixed or settled ahead of time..
i love watching the show every week, and hearing your comments, as well as SN's comments.. it must truly be an awesome experience for those singers fortunate enough to have made it onto the show and get to have feedback like yall give!!
definitely anticipating a great show tonight..
thanks for reading our comments - we love you, dave..

Anyway, can't wait for the show tonight. It is getting real hard now to vote. But Dilana is still my fav. Have a Great day Dave. Love reading your STUFF!!<:

I said it before - I'll say it again, this is a product of too much technology and too little intellect. Unfortunately kids now a days have nothing better to do then start shit. I think alot of it is being said now just to get a rise out of you - FUCK EM. Who are they going to say it to if you aren't listening????? Actually read what Storm had to say, she stood up for your comments, she knows they aren't personal. Anyway, very curious myself as to who will win. I have my favorites - but who knows.

Hey Dave,I must admit that the traffic about the whole RS:SN controversies has caused me to put the show back onto my Tivo list. That said, I don't believe in the truth of a conspiracy, either. My wife seems glad as she missed watching you, anyway. _GO LUKAS!_ BTW: Still haven't taken The Panic Channel out of my truck! -DP

Posted by: elizabeth at August 29, 2006 11:22 AM
Hey. I'm really not one to bitch and moan about conspiracies. And if The Majestic King says the winner hasn't been chosen I believe him. In all ways the guy comes off great, Supernova is an excellent diversion from my real life, and I absolutely love SRL. Having said this, I also think it's total bullshit for Dilana to get a song she's already recorded. It's up on her website, I just listened to it. Unless every singer left in the competition got a song they have already recorded as well, it seems unfair to them.
Again, I know that it's only a television show, and by nature a produced show is a form of manipulation, with the viewer agreeing to be manipulated for the sake of being enertained. But this doesn't quite seem to adhere to the nature of the contract, if you know what I mean. It has a dishonest tint to it.
Love for you to address it if you have the time, as I'm sure there's some reasonable explanation. Of course, seeing how you've already posted today to squash rumors, maybe I'm asking too much.
This does seem a bigger deal to me though than Janet Charlton.
keep up the good work.

damn, Dave. I don't even read your blogs anymore...I just roll right onto the tirade. I read somewhere the band formerly known as Supernova aka Suave Porn and YOU, Chappaquitik actually...wait...take deep breath...PAN STORM ON HER EVENESENCE SONG? FUCK IT DAVE, WHAT DO YOU WANT?
PS. I have this personal theory that DILANA IS ACTUALLY A MAN! So when you fuck her make sure she isn't "tucked" (ya know?...or maybe that's your thang!)
Posted by: brnduck68 at August 29, 2006 11:25 AM
OK Dave, I got it. They should just have some kind of Superpalooza. Complete Supernova with Toby and Magni on vocals, Magni on guitar. Besides Gilby needs another guitarist, he doesn't have the hot chops to fill out the sound by himself. (You could, but Gilby ain't no Dave.) (Now THAT would be a fun band.) Opening act is Dilana with House Band. Lukas with Rise Electric and Storm and the Ballz heat up the crowd earlier on. Ryan and his piano are the first act.
That way we don't have to say goodbye to anybody. I love all of these singers (well, Ryan is kinda angsty and meh sometimes) and don't want to say goodbye to any of them.
I really think this is Superpallooza's best chance of selling tickets and touring for longer than a couple of months.

The webisodes are becoming painful to watch- I am really more interested in watching the performances- both nights. I actually may not vote now, simply because all of the remaining people are incredible and I don't see any need to choose between them. I would be happy with any of them winning. I just enjoy having them on my TV every week. I am going to be right pissed when this is all over.
Posted by: arwen at August 29, 2006 11:29 AM
Well, thanks for having the show and giving me some good ol rock and roll to tune into on the TV.
I know you've all heard enough about the Dilanagate but it was worse than unprofessional to bag on her in front of an audience. You don't invite singers to show up and perform/audition where they're dressed up and putting themselves out there for the crowd and then reprimand them in front of their crowd! I respect you much Dave but that was very uncool. The professional thing would have been backstage after the show or as an actual part of the clinic in private with the other singers. Bad form, my man.
If you have Rockstar again please don't sandbag any other singers like that. It would have messed with your head too. I know you been in the game for years but who reprimands people in public like that except for abusive bosses.
Thanks for listening and hope all the singers are doing all right. There's a lot of love for them out here.

Looking forward to the show! Dave, I'm curious to know how much control the rockers have over their staged performance theatrics? Lukas got props from Jason once about the lighting highlighting a certain part during his performance, and his response was "I wanted it to do that". Do they have some input on lighting and other special effects?
Posted by: Laura0627 at August 29, 2006 11:39 AM
Rockstar's getting more and more interesting and I'm finding myself less and less interested in the outcome as time goes by.
So in that vein, some more highly important issues for Dave to address in his blog:
1: This runaway washing machine - is it a top loader or a front loader? I'd have to favour the front loaders myself, so I'd suggest you look into the Dyson washing machine - currently not available in the states I'm afraid but I'm sure your new assistant will import it and heft it up the stairs on his/her back for you. Has the ultra cool feature of contra-rotating drums so when you're spinning a cat in it you can watch it change direction. Joking!
http://www.dyson.co.uk/nav/inpageframe.asp?id=TECH/2DRUMS/QUALITY&sinavtype=pagelink
2: What's your taste in watches? Personally I'm not a fan of the Cartier, iconic though the Tank Americane is, and while Patek Phillipe can be uninspired, I quite like their 60's Bond flavour. Vulgari - really the name says it all. Personal favourites would have to be the original black-and-white Raymond Weil Othellos, and the Piaget antiplano is nice.
I only ask because I've never seen a picture of you wearing a watch so it's clearly something you've no opinion on. Hey, if you're going to be asked random crap, why not something new?

Well, all of this attention to the show is a GOOD thing. Love the show. I blog about it, so dorkily! ;)
Thing is, I DON'T have a fave.
Dilana and Lucas would fit the look.
Dilana, great voice, has the conflicted mind filled with emotion and fury. Seems like she has an interesting story to tell. Will she be stable enough?
Lucas, was not my fave, neither was JD...I was wrong there. Interesting voice.
Toby seems like he would too, esp after he did the SN song. Seems like they would have fun with it.
Storm, very dynamic, very professional. May take off on a solo venture. She might be too much for even these gents to handle.
Ryan, has grown so much. I was not fond of him at first, but he has grown on me.
Magni, just a likeable guy. Talented too.
Seems as though the reality segments are focusing on Dilana and Lucas...but maybe they are being smart and going after the drama aspect. Def gives them more face time to them.
Good TV, better ratings, more CDs sold...
Who will make them the most successful. Hmmmm...
Just ramdom thoughts...
Thanks for the fun reading Dave!
Cheers!

Dave -
I think the show is really captivating, and that your insider posts really add to the experience for fans of the show. I must say, the way you embrace the convergence of tv/print/web/radio on the "Dave Navarro" brand should be a wake-up call not just to other artist and hosts, but to other brands in general.
Anyway, aside from stroking your ego, I just wanted to let you know that your RS:SN "Darkhorse" is no longer a Darkhorse. Vegas odds on the show now have Ryan tied as a 5/6 favourite with Lukas to front the guys.
Dilana, Magni and Toby come in as 2-1, and your new Darkhorse is Storm at 5-1...
Thought you might find that interesting. You should call someone else a "Darkhorse" and see if your words have an effect on Vegas...
Cheers.

Posted by: the Sue w/horses at August 29, 2006 11:49 AM
Dave, I agree with you Ryan is growing on me. I had him in bottom 3 the first several weeks and just couldnt get past his "boy scout" image. He is serious into this business though. He takes everything so serious and comes off as a business man type approach to this audition. Which might not be so dumb. Supernova are talented artists but each one of them is also a smart businessman. With Ryan youll get good chops, some writing ability and also maturity. The kid isnt a party animal a la Lukas or Toby.
I'm afraid Tobes is going home this week. Or Storm, whom I really like and id for sure check out her music if she ever released anthing. Toby could front this band. I really believe that. But hes got some growing to do, first.
I still think its a crap shoot between Lukas and Dilana, although Magni might fool them all.
Take it EZ Dave
Peace

Dave,
I think your the shit! I look forward to reading 6767 everyday. I love what you and TPC have done, you must be so proud of oNe! I have bought my tickets to see SN regardless of who is their lead singer. I think Lucas is by far the best to lead this band but ultimately SN has to make the right choice for them.
As far as the editing of RS goes, it's all for ratings. I have not been a fan of what is/isn't shown on the performance nights to you for evaluation...but I can't change it so why bitch!?
All six of the remaining rockers add their own flavour each week and I enjoy it tremendously. I can't wait to see tonights' episode and hope that they all do well.
I'm hoping to come and see TPC somewhere in the US...but until then I'll be listening to the cd over and over and over again.....

I must say, I am really digging watching the singers do their thing week in and week out. They are really very talented. All the remaining contestants could easily front a succesful band in today's day and age. Seeing Supernova perform though, a sort of finished product...has been kind of a let down for me. I can't really say the songs were that interesting, or catchy...it really seems pretty canned to me. Dilana has been my favorite performer throughout the show, and even seeing her front them didn't really help that much. I think the band either needs another guitar player because clearly Gilby is just a rhythm player who's riffs are pretty stale. Yea he was in GNR and all. That's great. But he's doing nothing that really makes their sound interesting. How about subbing him for Dave Navarro? Now you're talking!!!!
Posted by: Johnnybot at August 29, 2006 11:57 AM

If I was in Supernova I wouldn't want to be on tour with a guy that's a passing out drunk (Lucas), or a gal with anger management problems (Dilana).
That said, I think Dilana is still the front runner for me. She's the whole package.
Lucas definately has an interesting presense, but his draggy, drunk, grimacing stage performance gets on my nerves.
Storm is great, but 100% a solo performer, doesn't need Supernova.
Magni is a solid singer, but not the same stage presense as Dilana. Although I know for a fact that all of Iceland (250,000) are rooting for him.
Ryan is great if I don't have to look at him, the constipated, angst ridden facial expressions are difficult to take week after week.
Finally Toby...there's something off about him for me. Maybe he's just not dynamic enough, not special enough, I just feel "whatever" about him

QUOTING DAVE:
Remember: "The views and opinions expressed in this page and on the couch are strictly those of the page author. The contents of this page have not been reviewed or approved by CBS, MBP or Supernova. Awwww hell yeah!"
HAHA! ~ That is too funny. Hell yeah, this show is getting hot! glad to see you have a sense of humor about it. I'm not surprized at all!
I find myself being a little nervous about how the show will be edited tonight since I was at the taping Sunday. Will they chop down Toby's ovation and praise? or will they show it as it was? How about the Dily-drama, will they insert canned groans? will they enhance her ovation?? Dilana sure acted as though her ovation was being enhanced. LOL! Lukas was a cutie pie for sure! Ryan was awful! will they show his performance as it appeared in person or will that be enhanced??
Dear GAWD I hope they highight Toby's back-up performance on TV with Storm! He was on stage right in front of where my face would have been if I wasn't turned around to watch Storm on the runway. DAMN! Missed it completely!
Well, I don't want to forget to throw in a nod for Magni. He was very good vocally, LOVE that song anyway.
Do you & Tommy like checkin' out each ther's nipples?? That's what I wanna know.

Glad to see Janet called on her bullshit.
I read her blog entry and never once believed it.
Just thought she was out for some media attention.
Plus if she does turn out right, her "lucky guess" will have some people not knowing if she really knew or not.
In actuality, I came across some sort of entertainment blog a few weeks back before Dilana's temper tantrums so to speak, and it stated that they knew she was the winner. When I went back a couple days later, the entry disappeared.
I think maybe her blog entry regarding the winner of Supernova will disappear as well.

You folks should see what is happening in iceland now, musicians here have but a comercial together to get people to vote. There was a show here on www.skjarinn.is for one hour just for Magni, everybody is going to be Zombies at work tomorrow, because we cant start voting until 2 a.m.
Just think about it we are about 300.000 ho live in Iceland, when the population is much more in other contesters countrys.
We are going to do all that we can so Magni can stay longer, not just to win, we just want to have him longer in the show because of his talent.
I have to say i´m sorry about my spelling :) but you folks can understand it mostly
Thanks for grate show and thank you Dave for all you have done in this :)

Chappaquitik?
Isn't that the Ted Kennedy thing? A road he was driving drunk on and had an accident and some female with was killed?

hey dave. love you on the show, you're cool.
i just had to say that magni's performance of fire was fucking amazing and the best performance of the season in my opinion. i can't understand how that guy is in the b3. i hope people realise how much talent he has & start voting for him. i personally think that the whole "he misses his family" thing that was made out to be such a big deal has ruined his chances a little. the show won't be the same without his talent so i really hope that he won't be the one going home.

Dave, isn't blogging fun..lol...
May the best rocker win (and no, you can't take out your competition by badmouthing or blinding them ;)) Dilana reminds me of that saying ~ rearringing the deck chairs on the Titanic.
I tried to buy ONe yesterday at HMV, it wasn't there...
Should be fun tonight!

You always said that if a TV channel had nothing but panic and hysteria on it, it would be the highest rated station.
Just look what conspiracy has done to this blog--300, 400, comments a day since it all went down. The Panic Channel, all the way...
Posted by: Schwing at August 29, 2006 01:14 PM
Dave, I still want to know about the vocals on "Lie Next To Me." What part did you sing, if you sang. Inquiring minds want to know.
As for why posts are showing up twice, just click the post button ONCE, people! It saves it, even if the next page doesn't load right. Trust it. Then hit reload.
As for the people who say Dave was out of line for spanking Dilana, if everything else is going to happen in front of cameras, everything else should happen in front of cameras, too. I hope Dave ripped her again for almost ending Magni's career.
And that's why Magni was in a bad mood at the photo shoot, you dipwads. He had a huge gash on his forehead that was being masked by a cereal box worth of makeup and Dilana is in the corner jumping on a friggin trampoline saying "I'm Back! I'm Back!" Where the bleep did she go?!
Burned myself a CD of some Lukas stuff and "Kiss Me" by Cleavage and almost all of the Rise Electric stuff is pretty incredible. I love the sound. I want more. It's NOT RIGHT FOR SUPERNOVA. Let's focus on that, please? Same goes for Storm.
Toby, love him or hate him (including you, Dave) is the right fit for the band. Magni should lead the House Band forever more.
Dilana, who chants her own name to ruin a classic love ballad, who writes songs that my 5-year-old cousins would think are cheesy, who thinks only of herself and obviously has no regard for others (whether it's in the press or ignoring their safety by shattering glassware near their faces) has no business being in the music business. I don't see the attraction AT ALL.
Ryan is a mess too. The squinting, the forced "angst" and the underdog attitude still don't mask that he's really not that good of a singer. Watch the first webisode and you'll see that his "out of nowhere" approach was completely strategy. Not singing for Supernova in the studio was complete stupidity, but apparently it worked and has kept him around this long.
One last question, Dave, as executive producer, can we have a week where Storm wears nothing but that football jersey she was given? You know, to kick off football season. And make sure she has to dance around a lot.

Dave someone already explained the Chappaquitik thing. It was you bantering with Storm. I read it on a forum and picked up on it. You know how you do!
I've just finished reading Don't Try This At Home. Since noticing you suddenly this year on RS:SN I've been listening to your solo album, LOVING The Panic Channel & tried the book as well. Totally interesting stuff. It did make me incredibly sad reading the ending where you were so happily married to Carmen, knowing that that dream is now over.
If it's any comfort to you, I split with my husband who is still my best friend. And in some ways that's a much healthier relationship for both of us. I wish you the same joy and send you heartfelt love and hugs.

As for Rockstar.... the remaining 6 performers are all so great, the shows will be great. I can live with people being sent home except for Lukas, who I think should take this thing!!
I will heed your advice and VOTE MY ASS OFF for Lukas tonight!
Still patiently awaiting announcement of Panic Channel Toronto tour date....how will your trip to India fit in with that??

Hello David! Just catching up on your blog. Fun times, eh? I have been enjoying your video for Why Cry and I've just got to say that Steve is a very good-looking bloke. And he sings well, too. I saw you on MM last week and must say you two make a very handsome couple. ;^) I hope The Panic Channel does well for you. I also heard that The Panic Channel will be playing with Supernova on a few selected shows? Is that true? If so that would be totally awesome.
And now on to the show. I just want to say that all along, even in my criticisms I hope I never lost sight on the fact that is it what is good for SN that is paramount. So what does SN need in a front person. For me they need a strong songwriter, one who can write good melodies and interesting lyrics. They need someone who can play guitar because a rhythm guitarist is always handy to have just to add a bit more muscle during a performance. You can have a kick ass studio recording but if the song sucks live then what's the point. For me it's the live version that counts the most. They need someone who is a strong vocalist not necessarily the one with the best voice. And by strong vocalist I mean someone who can interpret the song and add nuance and texture. They need someone with a strong personality to play off Tommy. Gilby and Jason are strong people but the one who's personality leaps out of the tv at me week after week is Tommy's. They need someone who won't be fighting against it but can compliment it. And someone who has a ton of sex appeal and charisma. Ok, so the last point is missing in this particular crop of hamsters but I'm sure that can be worked out somehow. Maybe put Tommy front and center. The man has sex appeal even if you feel like you would want to wash yourself in disinfectant afterwards. ;^)
I feel that there is not one hamster that has all of the qualities that I think SN would be looking for. So I think the most important quality would be the song writing. Everything else can be worked around but if you don't have strong, well crafted songs you may as well go home.
Anyway, that's my .02. Ymmv. And by the way, when doing your laundry remember to sort properly. You don't want everything to turn pink now do you.
Love to you always.

Hey Dave,
I don't think you would be violating any secrecy rules by telling us if there is an unwritten rule about the singers not selecting songs originated by the 3 bands represented by Supernova. I would love to hear Lucas sing Unforgiven.

Dilana use to be my favourite but she killed it! How is it possible to be that stupid? Oh well she said she was sorry but really, think before you act!
So now I have no clue who to vote for.
I'm from Iceland so the media here is brainwashing us, Vote for Magni, Magni is the rockstar and who knowes what else everywhere.. But I will not vote for him unless he deserve it, wich I didnt think he did last time.
Ryan I'm starting to like very much, first I thought he was nothing spesial but he has aproved alot.
As for Luckas, he has a great voice when he use it rigth but I'm not sure he coult do it.
Storm.. well she has annoyed me from the first show and I have no clue why. But she has a strong voice and I wish her all of my luck.
Toby.. just not Supernova's type in my oppinion. Still, I'm not Supernova so I'll just shut up about that..
Anywhore, it's your page, Dave, so hey, I'll shut up about Rockstar: Supernova.
Your music is awsome, I like your solo prodeckts more than the panic channel's.. And nice blog btw. Aand..
uhm..
Hope to see you in Iceland somtime;)

Hey Dave,
I really love this show, but Magni is the best he does not need any bad hate mail to make him a part off the Lukas and Dilana bullshit, I think that is what is great about him. He is not involved there are mostly good comments posted about him. Ya I see your point somewhat about having people love and hate you when it comes to the press etc. I really don't think you need any hate though when your are just starting a band that will all come in due time. You are better off starting out with love. AND THAT IS WHAT YOU HAVE WITH MAGNI, HE IS MAGNIficent!

I just have to say that Ryan is the best in my eyes becuase he has the best performances. Sure they are all great on the show but the next day who's song from the night before sticks out in your mind? For me its only Ryan's. And I have found a lot of Ryan's solo work and loved it. If the other contestants' work is out there then its been either hard to find or nobody is talking about it.
I like all of the final 6 for different reasons but at the end of the day Dilana and Lukas have a lot of fans because of their personalities but Ryan has a lot of fans because of his performances.

Dave, love your Spread Radio music picks. Makes local radio look PATHETIC. Gimme more. I mean PLEASE gimme more. (Manners n shit.)
PhanTim true dat, by this point Rockstar should be all about Supernova. Good list of what they need. Agree on the songwriting. Their bedtracks are rockin but their 2 finished songs could be better.
Thanks for the laundry tip. I learn all kind of shit on here.
Rock on kids.

Another reason to vote like crazy is Brooke said on last week's show that the difference between in and out of bottom three was "a handful" of votes. However many that is, if she wasn't blowing smoke, that's a good reason to do your part.
Posted by: justin at August 29, 2006 01:42 PM
My guess is as follows:
Tommy - Lukas
Gilby - Dilana (hell he played with Heart)
Jason - Dilana
I also guess that they won't ever agree on this. So, they may have to offer the gig to both. Question is, would both accept it?
They NEED NEED NEED Lukas for his song-writing and arranging (he rocks). They NEED NEED NEED Dilana for her "stadium rafter shakin" vocals. They need BOTH their fan bases - bad.
Dave, could we have a double winner here? Seems to me would make for a great concert.

Dave Navarro is so cool he wrote into his own blog. And some of the "dipwads" still went on and on about their own little creative masterpieces and didn't even seem to notice. Very funny. It's all very funny. You know when someone ain't Perez Hilton, they ain't very much at all. Conspiracy theories are the American way, people. Good thing a Brit created the show.
Dave's blog is the best. You know, "Keep on Bloggin in the Free World" could be Dilanna's next hit. And we could write the rest for her too cause you know we'd have to.
I hope Dilanna goes soon. She's like a gothic gargoyle. All proud to be perched in a rooftop and sulking.

That is, they were laid back and flexible during the photo shoot. Dilana could turn it on. The Dark Horse looked a bit uncomfortable, as did Magster.

Hey Dave. :-) It’s inspiring to see you in such fine form, hilarious as always, and full fighting spirit, today. LOL Borrowing a favourite word from Lukas: “Booyah! bro… :-) One thing I forgot to mention last night… Critics tend to be people who have attempted, but failed, at whatever they’re criticizing… That’s why I cheerfully ignore the often caustic nonsense they spout. Don’t let the TPC reviews get you down, dude. You’re the ones up on stage rocking out in front of legions of appreciative people. Critics… they’re probably in their dungeons petting Mr. Bigglesworth (“Austin Powers ;-) ) and wondering why their master plans to dominate the galaxy have not yet come to fruition. ;-) Like I said yesterday, you’re our guy when it comes to an insider’s perspective about “RS:SN. Without being a sycophant or toady LOL, I’m often surprised that I find myself in complete accord with most of your opinions and comments. It’s almost a shame, because you’d make an excellent opponent for a verbal sparring match. LOL But, then again, you’d just make me collapse into a heap of laughter and that would be the end of it, right there. ;-) I heard one comment in advance that you made at a recent show taping that had me scratching my head. That was quickly replaced by the affirmation of the fact that you are entitled to say, think and feel whatever the (insert colourful phraseology—I’ll save the actual swearing for when I’m in chat or at my own blog LOL ;-) ) you want. Your honesty and take-no-prisoners (and no BS) attitude are just more things I dig about you. I had to laugh last night when listening to SRL and someone tried to tell you to do something, like go eat dinner or where to go eat. I just gave a mental “headshake and thought, oh dear, Dave is not the kind of guy to try and tell what to do. LOL ;-) (‘Takes one to know one…’ ;-) ) Back to “RS:SN… The show will be over soon and perhaps your blog will return to a peaceful state after that. Sorry the “Troll-B-Gone wasn’t 100% effective… It’s like using antibiotics, the Trolls develop immunity and then it’s “superbug syndrome all over again. ;-) You won’t be getting any crap from this corner of the world post-show and shouldn’t be getting it from anywhere else, either. But, alas, the indigenous species “profundis ignoramus spoutoffalotus frequently escapes from its nature preserve and tramples things before being recaptured. Have a good one, man. I’ll be out of commission busy voting tonight, so any additional comments here may come in late even for my Night Owl style. ;-)

you know dave it is kind of strange to me that people come here just to bash you. while i have been a fan of jane's for a long time...it had been a long time since i had really listened to much of jane's until i saw INXS last year. and that is when i started coming here to your blog and when i met such wonderful people. i do not remember everyone getting their panties in such bunches last year as they are this year.
but just think: it is almost over and hopefully the haters will go away. and what you will have left are those of us that have been here for a while (and those that have always been here) as well as many, many more new fans. welcome people!

Wow... I never knew there could be so much drama revolving around a tv-show. It's not just any tv-show, but still... It's kind of funny how people can't find anything better to do than to think of conspiracies. I remember that those were better in the old days (JFK, Area 51, etc). Oh well.. Have a great show!

Look, even IF SN has already picked the eventual winner... SO WHAT? It is their damn band and their damn choice to make.
At this point, the only say we, the viewers, have is to keep our fave on the stage for as long as possible. It's ALL good. So, vote!!
Personally, I see it like Dave sees it... Each of the guys has a fave, but it isn't an across the board favorite yet.

Love you.. love your music... love what you do on the show ... love your opinions... love that you are honest and say what you feel and all of this from a freaking 53 y/o women. Hell, my 76 y/o mother thinks you are da bomb. Thanks for your blog and I'm diggin The Panic Channel big time. I look at it this way... what would reality TV be w/o conspiracy theories... gives the naysayers something to do with narrow minds and limited time. It's too bad you even have to respond to it. To you, SN and the hamsters: ROCK ON and thanks for he entertainment.

Back to the serious issues of the day;
Christy, I totally appreciate your concerns about lack of sales and service, however the wonder of all things Dyson is that they're built properly by proper British "Mad Scientist" engineers. Dyson went through 5,000 prototypes before finishing the first hoover (vacuum), and the theories they went through trying to re-invent the washing machine were properly mental. They don't break down. I strongly suggest you try out the dual cyclones.

Hey Dave!
Thanks fr letting us share.
Two questions:
About the special effects....do the rockers have intput into that?
Secondly:
When Dilana wrote the lyrics to the SN track, they were extremely corny. Also, it turns out that they are quite similar to her video "Breakfast in Central Park" as is the melody she used. I believe she didn't write that, but am not positive. Any comments on that?
Have a good one. Take care

Hey Dave, just wanted to say thanks for letting us have an insiders look at everything. The new record is great, and I've got so many people hooked on Rockstar. This year has been so much better than last IMO. I hope there is another next year, but I wonder with TPC and the product how much time you'll have. Thanks again for everything.

So glad I was finally able to garinsh DSL in the boonies (yes - there are freaking people in the middle of nowhere still dealing with dial up!) Was able to vote fast and furious last week and plan to do the same this week! My conspiracy- may have to vote for all of them!
Posted by: Scansalot at August 29, 2006 03:23 PM
I just would like to say that I do not see what everyone sees in Dilana. She is not right for Supernova and she even acknowledges it in her latest blog. DILANA SAID
"I learnt that I am in control of ME & nobody else. My goal is my career – with or without S.Nova."
Now that to me DOES NOT sound like someone who truly WANTS to front this band. I just don't get it.
If you look at Lukas's blog however, you will see that all he wrote about is how GREAT SUPERNOVA'S NEW TRACKS ARE!!!!! He is really EXCITED ABOUT THE MUSIC!!!!!!! In the end, LUKAS IS THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS BAND!!
Posted by: Amy at August 29, 2006 03:30 PM
Someone posted as me which is scary in a kind of Matrix Agent Smith kind of way... (Mr Anderson) anyway Hi Dave, how are you doin? xx
RS SN ...
Look, Lukas is annoying me. He's talented but realistically he's too short to front Supernova! He just STILL doesn't open up his vocals often enough.
Magni - I TOTALLY agree with the flippant comment about Magni fronting the house band! Great idea! Magni is a star but maybe not a supernova.
Ryan - needs a personal shopper to help choose new wardrobe / image consultant.
Storm - great cept for when she's murdering disco.
Toby - sweetie.
Dilana - sounds like liquid metal. I would love to hear her cover a Metallica track like Nothing Else matters or Enter Sandman cos the more I listen to her the more that's what she reminds me of.
Dilana looks the part infront of the guys but really at this stage, Toby, Dilana or Magni for Supernova..
Silky Kisses.

I'm still pissed at Phil for getting himself booted. The more the show goes on the more I can see him fronting the band, but it's too late now. "Feed Your Head" is still my favorite RS performance of all time and Jason looked like he was having a blast playing that with Phil all those weeks ago. The only other front person I can see with the band is Dilana. She's a natural with them. Anyway, looking forward to tonight's show!

Dave,
Great job with SN - the show is fun to watch. I do have to cry foul on the viewer choice picks though. Every contestant got the wildcard - that says LOUD and CLEAR - we don't want repeat performances - even if they were great. But the wildcards choosen for each didn't seem cool. Dilana's was "mother mother" a song she is very familiar with, has performed on stage before this competition and recorded. Lucas and Storm on the other hand got very hard songs to perform that they don't connect with. I think on a whole a lot of the audience is fed up with the SAME songs. C'mon there have got to be more rock songs to pick from. We are hearing the same songs as last year and then hearing them over and over again this year. Please pass this feedback. Mix up the music more - more originals - no more repeats.
I'll be tuning in though - even for the repeats.
Rock on - PC is great too btw.

just listened to a replay of the phone call Storm made to one of the local rock stations here in Portland yesterday. she was kind enough to take the time to clear up some of the rumors about Dilana. i have to say i was on the fence about Storm, but i'm now on her side. still want Dilana to win.....Stormy is a bad bad girl and needs a spanking in a bad way. (tee-hee). would love to see her fetish photos.
finally had enough $$ to purchase (ONe) today. can't wait to play it!!
Dave, i have to say it....you are so YUMMY!!!!

Hey, Dave!
My name's Samira and I'm from Brazil! The Rockstar show is not very well-known here, and I only watch it because some really good people post it on the net. But I love it!
I can't believe you really read all the comments after the shows, but I'm writing it anyway.
I just watched the week 9 show and I can't understand Supernova's dislike of Storm. Everybody I talked to thought her presentation was just AWESOME. She's awesome. I think as a band they'd be most successful with her, considering the type of music/show they want to do. Are they intimidated by her?
But Dilana is still my favorite, I really like her voice. I hope her fans still love her despite her declarations on the media clinic.
Finally, I really have to say one more thing...you're SO HOT! :D
Kisses =^.^=
P.s: Sorry about any language mistakes. As I said, English is not my first language.

Hey Dave,
We always enjoy your input on things. You seem to have a level head and an interesting point and perspective. Of course I'm refering to Rockstar. Sometimes my girlfriend and I don't agree with you - or with each other - but we appreciate the honest effort you put in.
For years we've watched singing shows and we've always felt it's good, but there was something lacking. I mean how do you know what you want when you haven't seen it yet? We're not visionaries in this field. When we started watching Rockstar INXS last year we realized that the passion, style, energy, performance, etc... everything was so much better than anything before. It's kind of like we returned back to the professional performances on Ed Sulivan and others, but with an up-to-date rock flavour. Thanks for doing your part to bring Rockstar to TV and help us really enjoy Rock'n Roll music in a new way. I have to say I really respect a person who says they're going to do something and then they actually deliver - I'm refering to bringing attention to Dilana's actions last week. And we hope the show goes on for years to come with you and Brooke there doing your thing.
Also, I can't remember if you participated in a performance last year. Are you planning to join the rockers on a tune this season just to change things up a bit?
Cheers

I just love reading your updates. I totally read them in the way you'd deliver them from the couch. Since really that's the only opportunity I've had to hear you speak. I love it. Loved the dream I had about you last night too for that fact. Very bizarre. But it had a happy ending. ;)
Can't wait for tonights show! With the past shows it was pretty obvious who was going home. But now it's intense because as you said before-at this point everyone is great. We have our favorites but IMO no one totally sucks out of who is left. And Wednesday will be very interesting.

Posted by: Savvy at August 29, 2006 04:29 PM
I have to chime in due to last weeks performances. I only got to see them last night and I have a little to say about "the dark horse’s" performance. While I understand that all music is somewhat "borrowed" from other musicians- I think that BLATANT plagiarism needs to be addressed. The "original" piece that Ryan played- while good- was COMPLETELY a rip off of numerous other songs.
The opening riff is almost note for note to "The package- A perfect circle" (minus the drums), The rest of the song is a combination of about 10 different Matthew Good songs- which I noticed Ryan listed in his "favorite" musician columns. If you’d like to get a listen as to where this song is such a rip off- listen to any of the following albums.
1. Last of the ghetto astronauts
2. Raygun
So honestly- while Dilana got shit on for her comments- I am somewhat inclined to agree.. with a slight change. Ryan would be nothing without Matthew Good!

Dave speaking of rumors I read on another site that you were thinking about closing down your blog because of all the post about the show, it that true? If so why, weren’t you just the one saying how important the Internet is, you should be stoked people even care. There are so many shows for people to watch. I work in the industry and buzz is everything, clients pay big bucks just to build buzz. I found this site from another RS:SN site then started reading about your new CD, I loved you with both Jane’s Addiction and RCHP. So I went to iTunes listen to your new CD loved and bought it. Buzz is good.
I also love that you read your blog and understand the importance of the Internet, so many artist still do not get it.

I actually just listened to what Dave said on SRL, and he was talking about all the STUPID ASS QUESTIONS people keep asking him. And all the STUPID ASS conspiracy theories people can't seem to get over. (My words not his) He’s not in the band, he doesn’t know what Supernova thinks, (he hasn’t taken that mind reading class at the local Jr College yet), and he’s sick of people giving him shit about the show. I’m not trying to speak for DN, but since I literally just heard it on the rotation loop I thought I'd throw that out there!

Hi Dave!
A wee critter chewed on the lines about a mile
away, and OOPS! no power! Life in the woods.
Catching up on reading here.
Indian food. Nice concept. You must be a spice
fiend! I had rice and water, after two forkfuls
of whatever it was that was served. My vocal
chords froze, and I looked like I was at a three-
hanky "chick flick"--could not stop my eyes from
watering. Thank heaven for Pepcid.
Supernova: PLEASE PLEASE! Dave! Write 'em a
check if you must: PLAY!!! I"m sure that Gilby
is a nice man. But he doesn't have your fingers,
Dave.
Media: Oh, boy. My family would be visiting me
on weekends if media hounds pestered me. I don't
know how you cope with that stuff; one would
think that civility would let them know when they
have crossed a line.
Laundry: Remember: dilute the bleach before you
add it to the washer...lingerie on delicate cycle
please! Maybe a housekeeper?????
(OnE): On cut 3. First 2 kick-ass. I'm happy.
But also listening to Bach cello sonatas. And
trying to get my fingers to cooperate with an
F chord. Not good. Neighborhood cats occasionally yowl..
Have good week, sending you love--awolf.

Storm is awesome. I have a girl crush on her. Her versions of 'Pinball Wizzard' and 'Everyting' were electrifying. She's just flat out awsome. Magni rocks. I love his performances and personality. Ryan is killer and, to me, the best vocalist. I also thought his performances of late have stood out the most - hey, he's the only one who has done a double encore? right. I love Dilana's performances, she is entertaining, but her voice is monotone and I don't think I could sit through two hours of that. The same goes for Lukas. Toby is the total package, great voice, entertaining, changes it up, likes to party and the girls love him. I think he'd fit in great. However, I think Supernova will choose Lukas. Before the show even started, Tommy said he wanted someone scary to front the band. That would be Lukas or Dilana, but based on the reactions to Lukas' performances and the drama that has plagued Dilana, I'd give it to Lukas. I hope I'm wrong, and Supernova totally goes outside the box and picks someone no one ever expects (wouldn't that make for great TV?). Anyway, I'm starting to get sad that it's all going to be over pretty soon. Not only will I miss the show, but I'll really miss seeing Dave on TV twice a week. He's not just entertaining and brilliant, but he is just gorgous, gorgous, GORGOUS!!! Dave, thanks for posting on a regular basis, I look so forward to reading what you have to say every day. You rock, dude. Be true to yourself....and keep on doing what you are doing so well. Don't let the skeptics get to you. We, your fans, know how awesome you are and trust in you.
Much love,
T.T.

I don't know what the hell everyone is going on about Dilana for...seriously she fucked up but that doesn't mean she needs to lose. Everyone of those guys has fucked up on that show. Ryan talked shit about Dana on camera...did anyone say anything about that? Lucas said some shit about people too...I don't see anyone jumping on this shit. Just because she actually knows her talent and was never in the bottom three doesn't mean shit. She could lose...but so could everyone else...has it ever occured to anyone it's up to the guys...it is an audition/contest. People are so retarded. Just leave her alone...she ain't hurtin' anyone but herself...so let her deal with it.

Ok I know some of you think Dilana's original song on the clinic was pretty awful the lotion and thong song.Well I heard Breakfast in Central Park was the basis to this song and it's pretty crappy in it's own right.
Buuuttt,I just stumbled across a song she did as Dilana Smith called Kiss a Butterfly.LMFAO!I know it's piling on but ya gotta track this one down and give it a listen.Man I really hope she get's to do an original on the show and it's this one.The lyrics in this puppy make the worst country song I ever heard look pretty damn good.

g'day dave
firstly i would like to say after listening to your radio show for the first time yesterday it was great i can't wait until your live again. To hear your thoughts on all things including topics such as the jonbenet case was amazing keep up the great work.
after last nights show i must say it is great to see that dilana does indeed break down, some would probably see it as a flaw, i see it as she has truly shown us that she is human with feelings that run deep although she needs to give herself a break.
all this conspiracy theory bullshit is just that SHIT some people aren't happy to just watch and enjoy talent such as there is on RS:SN they would rather spend their time trying to find a loophole in the outcome, i think you are all doing a great job and i am glad i am not in the position that Gilby, Tommy and Jason are in with having to find a singer it seems way to hard to choose.
ok love to all great job and tell toby we want to see more of that naked flesh

1. I would much rather hear some information on upcoming The Panic Channel tour, is it true you are touring with Supernova?
2. And as for SRL and your blogs being inundated with RSSN, maybe a stop would be put to it with more entries that have to do with you talking about the MUSIC YOU ARE MAKING? I know I am infinitely more interested in hearing more about the record, whether there is going to be a video for the second single, Teahouse of the Spirits, confirmation of Houston Buzzfest, etc.
3. What of Camp Freddy's single release on September 4th of Surrender? Heard a preview on CFR on Saturday, awesome guitar work!

i find it strange that people will come to your blog to say stupid, hateful things. i have been a fan of jane's for a long time but i had not listened to them in a long time...until i saw you on INXS last year. which is when i stumbled upon your blog and all of the wonderful people on here. funny though, i do not remember everyone getting their panties in such bunches last year over the reality show. huh.
anyhow, just a few more weeks dearest dave and hopefully the haters will go away. and what you will have left are all of us that love you. your fans that know how much of a good person you are. those of us that have been here for awhile, others that have been here since the beginning, and the new faces that have only recently found this place. how cool is that?

After reviewing some viewer comments on the rockstar thread, I feel that some people have watched one too many American Idol episodes. This show is for a "ROCK STAR"; the very essence of a "ROCK STAR" since the inception of rock is to be cocky, arrogant and out of control. Unfortunately, cocky, arrogance and out of control on a chick, gets judged the way Dilana is being judged, a little bit of a double standard. Normalcy is not the issue or nor should it be what a rock band should be looking for; eccentric, lively and an performer that doesn't let you forget each and every performance, is what it is going to take to put the band on the map. The public does not need to judge the contestants on anything other than do they make this band ROCK; will the shows be memoriable; let the band deal with personality issues; because they probably don't want someone "normal" as normal would melt down in the long run.

Funny stuff from Janet \"dry twat\" Charlton:
Dave Navarro is calling you out! Ha, ha ha: THAT is a GREAT concept for a NEW Reality TV show actually!
Dave the Dwarf rings people doorbells to CALL THEM OUT: They open the door, but they cannot see him. He gets their attention by slapping his meat snake across their legs. Every episode ends with him being chased off the property with a garden hose. He always trips over a garden gnome who has a signature catch phrase \"Oy Dave, Nice Cock!\"
LOL
----------
Yeah, you\'re probably right, given the character assassination of Dilana that Mark Burnett started last week and will continue through this week. But, I would prefer Dilana; I think she performs more for the audience; whereas, Lukas performs for himself.
----------
Well the boys did say they wanted a dark rocker. At least with Lukas, Tommy will have someone to share eye
