Carolla/Kimmel
Tomorrow morning, The Panic Channel will be appearing on The Adam Carolla show on 97.1FM in Los Angeles. I think we should be on around 8:30am PST. Later in the evening, we will be performing on The Jimmy Kimmel Show.
The last two Spread Radio Live shows are now in rotation.
Oh yeah, here is that Love Line show Steve and I did last week.
And here is the above mentioned Carolla show. Horrible mix on the song, but what can ya do?

hi Steve, I think its harder than some of us realize for U.S. artists to take a position about the state of the U.S. government so I respect all your and the Panic Channel's inputs that way and in case its all gonna be too late too soon. luv ya
When I was at the conference in California last week we learned about a 'new' world court which the US was not a part of. I understand that the WTO as well as the EU have fallen apart as global organizations, but others, I guess, are emerging in their place or instead of or among them, etc... I also thought it was interesting that some new thinkers were thinking about putting themselves up to "go forward" to represent the "cultural sector" and this included American artists and scholars in an international group. It started sounding like the Rob Zombie "prophecy" which I found about cruising through your Myspace while playing that Panic Channel game. Mind you, I've had the lyrics wrong all this time....but, sweet - getting the defences of the darkness to back down. You know about this, right? I don't know if that's a question you were expecting such a convoluted answer to but sometimes we can be real in virtual space, or what's turning into "blended reality". b.

TPC Leno show aired here in the UK on Saturday night. Rocking performance, very cool.
Just gotta wait 2-3 weeks for amazon.com to ship over the CD to the UK. Ah well, will be worth the wait...

So, with regard to Dilana- I adore her, but I really hate how she did "Cats in the Cradle". She didn't feel it. She sang it rock, but didn't really understand the lyrics. Once you understand the lyrics, it gets to you. There was no point in her performance that I could say to myself, this song means something to her. She just didn't get it. Rocking is not enough- music needs to make you feel something.

Hope you have a fantastic time on both the shows!
Real quick, want to express a few thoughts on Rockstar Supernova.. If I was a contestant this season (hopefully I will be next year) I would definitely want to sing one of your songs Dave, maybe even something surprising like 1% or maybe ..I'm not a big Motley Crue fan, but if I was auditioning for Tommy, I would be out there wailing on Dr.Feelgood! The August 8th show was probably the best so far.. was impressed with how they improved.. and Dilana probably should win, she has a smoky voice and I think she can fit in well with them (if she can work on her lyrics).. but they could also definitely mold many of them into what they need.. I just wish I was up there singing Rooms A Thousand Years Wide right before Lukas sings Creep.. peace

Hey Dave, I was listening to the love line thing and the way you talk about the ending of your marriage is so admirable. I know you're in the public eye and people expect you to tell them everything (and they fucken shouldn't), but you've really impressed me. Simply because you handle the questions well and you know when a line has been crossed and i think that's really good of you. I know it's a hard thing to talk about, and a lot harder because you guys are in the public eye but you've done more than well in dealing with the shit. Cheers to you Dave!

Dilana aint no Stevie Nicks or Janis Joplin.
A whiskey/smoke laden throat singer yes.
IMHO, I think some people are so desperate for another one of them ladies that they're projecting falseness onto Dilana.
I'm not saying she sucks, but she is not in Janis' or Stevie's caliber!

Dave thanks for getting those listening pleasures up for us. The extra effort you put in to maintain contact with your fans really shows us how much you love what you do and how much you appricate us, your fans. Most musicians talk the talk but the difference is you put action behind your words.
SN- last year when the perfomers went up against the media it was JD, this year Lukas has been pinned the most difficult to live with.
Both times that I have seen this, I wanted to jump through the TV and tell them how to respond. Since I can't do that literally I am hoping that you might be my voice.
this is how an old pro like me would answer a question like that.
I would say " Oh so you mean I have done my job! (break and laugh)...I maybe the most diffcult person to live with or work with, but that just means I will be the most memorbale. I came here to get noticed and it sounds like its working"
When someone asks you what you thin
Posted by: Noelle at August 21, 2006 07:26 AM
Poor Christine E, I would answer your question, but I'm not quite sure what the answer is. I know I asked that question awhile back, and I think they use some kind of picture when they post messages on myspace. I guess they can take up a whole page. Maybe someone will decide that my answer is so lame and they will explain it better.
Well Dave I got two new e-mails from TPC, you guys really got it going. How did Lukas do yesterday? I'm sure you will take the time to answer that one, but wtf, can't blame a girl for trying! Looking forward to TPC tonight.
Sweets, good luck with the fast! Hi Danni!

[Dave, if Chris Chaney does not lurk here, would you please pass along these questions to your friend and bandmate? Thank you!]
Questions for Bass Hero Chris Chaney:
What is your favorite bass line?
How many hours do you practice each day?
Do you read both standard notation and tab?
Would you recommend learning how to read standard notation? If so, why?
How did you learn bass - - self-taught? Lessons? School?
Who are your bass influences?
At what age did you start playing bass?
Do you always practice with a metronome?
Do you ever practice with a drum machine? If so, which one?
Can you recommend a good instructional bass book (series?) or DVD set?
Can you recommend a good tutorial on playing chords on the bass?
How do you learn others' songs? By ear? Or do you obtain the sheet music?
Can adults learn how to play a musical instrument? Or is music like a language, which must be acquired in youth?
Which bass publications do you read?
Do you have any favorite bass Websites?
What is your favorite Panic Channel song to play on bass?

great photo of you - the black and white (not so much the sparkle versus fluffy thing) made me wonder who took it and where and the story behind it.
rockstar uk tonight - think Dilana or Lukas image wise already slot in with Supernova, would be cool if Lukas'd open up his voice, want to hear his vocal range. realistically though - they are a talented bunch.

Dave, I'm so sorry to disappoint you, but the pyramids aren't all that. You walk up a ton of stairs in the great pyramid and when you get to the top, it's just a little room. However, you can see the Sphinx from there...Lots of beggar children. Very sad. However, when I was there, they had All in the Family in Arabic Subtitles...you'll find all the modern conveniences in Cairo. Love you so much!!!!!!

Morning Dave. :-) Thanks for the SRL and “Love Line shows. (The ‘valley girl’/’like, oh my God, I am like soooo not in the OC, that’s just, like, totally grrrross’ ;-) caller cracked me up. LOL Great to know that species hasn’t become extinct. Better send a social anthropologist down there to document that one. ;-) ) I can’t wait to see TPC on “Jimmy Kimmel. He actually comes across as a reasonably ;-) funny and genial person and any opportunity to see TPC perform is just “twist my rubber arm… yes, please at this point. LOL After watching the latest (light-years from) ‘reality’ media-oriented "Rockstar:SN" show and then listening to you deal with interviews, I think several of the performers could learn a lot from you about honesty and respecting boundaries between the public/private aspects of people’s lives. It’s cool that you share as much as you do, but I respect how you handle things when an interviewer hits a topic or subject that slips over the line into “dude, don’t go there. LOL I will quietly and joyfully agree with your “Love Line pick for the performer you think would best fit in with SN. (I don’t want to get the ‘angry mob’ stirred up with their torches and pitchforks—that’s never a good scene—so if they didn’t listen to the broadcast, too bad. LOL) He’s already been putting in the swaggering, epic stage performances, but I knew you’d be diggin’ him more once he started letting his vocal range/diversity show. I have to laugh when people talk about his “new voice, though… He’s always had it and is intelligent enough not to peak/show all his cards before “RS:SN reaches its finale. Anyone who has listened to his original material knows his chops and songwriting creds, though. Apart from bands like TPC, I haven’t been this excited about a new music artist/performer in years. Hard to believe they hid him in TO for so long LOL and wonderful that he’s finally been unveiled on the world stage. Oh, and a follow-up: the fan mentioned in a recent post did get into the show yesterday and she has passed Cloud Nine… She was on cloud ten and heading towards the edges of our known solar system. LOL

Sweet Melis, i'm happy that u're going to detox, its a good choice, Good Luck!
Hi Linda!
Posted by: Marivic at August 21, 2006 12:12 PM
So Week 8's webisode is up. Has Dilana not committed The Sin of Phil (tm)? If so, what's SN's response gonna be? I withdraw the allegation that RS:SN lied about every of the remaining contestants being given the opportunity to play original music. The doubling up of originals makes the math work. Thx for that. But back to Dilana. What is the consequence (as Jason put it last week) for so horribly representing the band and their music to the press that she says there are rockers trying out to front them who hate their music and names names? (Not that I'm certain they've actually said what was alleged.) 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.' What's said in the mansion stays in the mansion, unless MBP wants to air it. The Sin of Phil (tm) must warrant consequences! (This could suddenly turn into a horse race again. Would that it were true.)

Hey Dave!!! Can't wait to see you on Kimmel!!! Got a question about this whole supernova thing...Few weeks ago I was at my local music store digging through the used cds new arrivals , and I came across a band called Supernova, then today I was on televisionwithoutpity.com and read that original Supernova recently filed a preliminary injunction to prevent the guys from recording or performing under the name "Supernova"
Is anyone at all worried about this?

Hi friends,
Wow... so much stuff going on! So much to say, and so much to catch up with. Things have been crazy and I just can't keep up lately, but I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks to Dave and all of you for this place - a wonderful place to stop by for a few moments during a busy day, and feel connected to some of my favorite people. Fortunately, I will most likely be catching up with some of you - Sue, Kristen, Peebs, Deena, etc. in a few days! :)
So... Let me say great job with ONe. It sounded oh-so-good on my ride into work today. I'm up to track 10 and am looking forward to the remaining 3. Steve I truly has the gift of melody, and you always put your magic into everything you do, including this CD. It's a beautiful combination. So far I'm especially loving "Said You'd Be", the intro of which completely kicked my as* in a good way and stirred me from my Monday morning stupor.
I wanted to comment about "The Product"... how awesome! Believe it or not, I had a very similar idea of a storyline - a modern-day "Spinal Tap" kinda thing - which never made its way past a rough outline on my PC. It was pretty funny... it had characters loosely based on Marilyn Manson, Perry, Flea, a few others, even you... dealing with the trials and tribulations of the music industry today. My point being that as you can imagine, I think it's a GENIUS idea! LOL. Best of luck with it. More "Dave magic" for us to enjoy. :)
That pic from the other day... I didn't even recognize who it was until I opened it up. Lovely, in a somber way. If you were sad/tired there, I hope that feeling passes quickly.
Anyway, I hope everyone is well. If not, hang in there, take it easy, and rest assured that you are loved.
Can't wait for tonight!
Love & peace

Knowing the direction that SN is taking what do you think about Lukas singing more than grunge? Do you think he needs to sing something more up tempo so we can see his range? SN is not going in the direction of Grunge rock.

when the terrorists destroy the rest of the world you can always come to NZ to live Dave.
or when California falls into the ocean as predicted by Bill Hicks/Tool
or both.
ps. did anyone see our magnificent victory over Australia in the rugby on the weekend?? We are the Tri Nations champions now, the most feared sport team in any code on the planet (yes Americans - there are other popular ball sports other than NFL/AFL)

"...poorly tpyed posts"... by canucks..lol.
I hate it when my igloo is melting, shorts out the keyboard and I end up with typos between small electrical shocks. Sometimes it's a sled dog peeing on the outside power connection.
I lose more dogs that way :/
RS should be good tonight... buh bye Patrice.

DaveAkINZ doesn't Tool have a blog? How about Straitjacket Fits? Why not go there and not impress them with your wit and wisdom? Better yet have another Steinlager and quit living in the past. Don't look now I think one of your sheep got loose, yep she's getting away!!!
vicki, you have that igloo problem too, wicked small world isn't it?

Posted by: Degrazia,ted at August 21, 2006 07:25 PM
i don't think its on tonight in u.s. i think vicki is in vancouver.
carly, your boss shouldn't be so hard on you, happy employees are the most productive. so looking at dave's sites during the day should not upset her. if you go, there are other jobs out there.

I'm confused... I thought RS was on tonight but I've been told it's on twice Tuesday due to all the new shows starting.
I just got the penguins to hold up the foil bunny ears on the tv too, oh crap.
Yeah Brian, the melting thing. How do you cut your snow blocks anyway? Do you block, cover with snow, block or do you prefer to carve into a drift and work outwards :)

Dave all I can say is that I am really disappointed in this show. As a Dilana fan, I was really getting excited about the possibilty of a woman fronting a rock band, but with certain fans bashing Dilana for comments made on the web episode and with all of the insults she's been getting I don't see her getting a fair shake in this. The need to show the other rockers comments because I am sure they made some that was not aired. The more I read and see the reaction from you and supernova the more I doubt of any woman fronting the group. I think its a hoax and other Dilana fans share my view as well. I just feel that viewers are not seeing and hearing everything that goes on in the mansion just comments and actions of Dilana. I felt like she was being honest when she made those comments, no backstabbing. She was asked a question and she answered it honestly, how can someone hate her for that I just don't understand. Nothing is worst that a fake artist. Dilana is extremely talented and hopefully someone will have faith in her after all of this drama and she will become very successful. The only reason why I am watching this show is because of Dilana. She has revive so many people that abanoned the rock arena. I can't watch rockstar anymore because its plain to see they have already pick Lukas. The outcome will tell the true story, won't it?

Carly,
i am so sorry its causing you pain. maybe nothing will happen but if you are confronted, can i give you advice:
Say: you really love your job and put your full energy into it. that you are a happy, outgoing person and enjoy keeping up with different things, occassionly looking at news on the web or "other sites" just means you're taking a quick break at your desk instead of wandering off to lunch room, etc. ask: is there a written policy about internet use for all of us? may you see it..now that you know, you will observe it. if none, they should not fire you.
hang in there. gosh, i just cannot believe some bosses.
Posted by: Season at August 21, 2006 07:52 PM
Carly! I hope you don't get the axed. If everyone is allowed to surf the net and you get singled out for that- it doesn't seem right. I think it might be a personal vendetta Especially, if she is watching behind your back.
You love the job. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Carve all the way vicki, it's more organic dude(which really means I'm too lazy to cut blocks). I hate it when the chinook blows in though, bad times, homeless again.
Dave, the mix wasn't that horrible :) and you made the best of it LOL. You guys sounded good on Corolla regardless.

Loveline- La Vey to Manson to you. I assume you are talking about Anton La Vey, the founder of The Church of Satan? In my opinion, not that you asked, bad karma!

LEARNING AN INSTRUMENT: - to the guy who asked the bass questions. Some good ones, some crap ones. (Like, Chris would be up to date on Bass Guitar for Dummies? C'mon, mate, just ask at your local music store). - but yes, you can learn an instrument as an adult. I did. Got pretty good. Just took up a new instrument too. Just immerse yourself in it, get a good teacher (you NEED a human teacher, not a DVD.) Pay the dollars. If its worth your time, its worth your money. Learn to read. Learn to hear the intervals. Good luck!

Great performance on Kimmel. you guys looked and sounded fantastic!
However Dave...
Did ya forget to mention someone when talking about Camp Freddy? Is Billy Mo the stepchild?
I was laughing!

Hey Dave.
I just watched the Kimmel show from my home in Canookistan. LOVED it! You guys were awesome!
I was a mild Jane's fan in the 90's. Then I heard you pimping The Panic Channel on Rockstar. I came here and had a listen. In the previews, Teahouse of the Spirits was my fave and I sent the link to my pals.
It was GREAT to hear it "live" tonight. I'm definitely getting the album. Will you guys release a tour schedule soon? My friend and I travel regularly to the US to concerts and would definitely travel for a Panic Channel show!
-kimmi
P.S. I reserve my Rockstar comments for other reality TV message boards.

TPC tore it up on Kimmel! Band was tight. Isaacs nailed the vocals. Dave, you have some good karma coming your way; I dig your positive demeanor - - especially former bandmates (e.g., Perry).

Enjoyed the interview with Kimmel and the Teahouse performance-you guys killed it!, and the crosses you adorned, of course ALL of you looked great;) You know what, I have seen you on tv and heard you on SRL almost every day for two weeks-WOW! Saturation-luvn it,Db
Posted by: Danni at August 21, 2006 11:31 PM
Dave you were stunning on Jimmy Kimmel, just saw the interview I can't wait for the performance.
Posted by: Naomi at August 22, 2006 12:51 AM
Kimmel was great.... "Dick Rash" opening for Paris Hilton...hahahahaha. I'm looking on Jimmy Kimmel Live for the rest of "Left To Lose" from the show, but it doesn't seem to be posted yet.
I'm not having any trouble opening Loveline, but I'm still not hearing in rotation the part of the SRL show on 8/19 of Dave talking, answering IMs, calling Steve Isaacs, playing the Lindsey Lohan song, etc. Was that taken out?
I too watched the new RS:SN webisode. Dilana, Lukas, and Ryan have been my top picks, but I think Dilana really messed up with the press interviews, and her songwriting skills are so questionable. I'm sure some of the contestants would like to vent, but don't do it to the press. I've always thought Ryan has a lot to offer and handles himself very professionally, but that he could be better suited for a style other than SN. From the webisode, it looks like his original this week is oriented towards SN's assumed style. We'll see ...I enjoy him more when he stays true to his own style. I think Lukas could also bring alot to SN, and I've never met a Canadian I didn't like.
"Clearly Storm can sing," but I really can't stand her attitude... her constant fist-pumping to every song, and her dramatic reactions to whose in the bottom three each week... like last week when she was ecstatic to be in the bottom six (which I thought she should be for her version of "I Will Survive") and then so disappointed when she wasn't in the bottom three. It just all comes off very fake and annoying. It makes me want to get out one of my gongs.
I know a lot of us were not impressed with the first SN song last week, but for fun comparison, did anyone see a clip of the Keven Federline's "performance" from the Teen Choice Awards?? I only saw what they showed on Kimmel tonight. Wow, it never ceases to amaze me the talentless steaming piles that get signed, get on tv, get on the radio, get such opportunities, etc. I'm thankful for Dave's sites and SRL for searching, discovering, listening, and playing new music. Keep it up! :)

ZAYRA was the coolest IMO. That last elimination song was super cool, and original sounding. The rest are pretty much vanilla, predictable, safe, Nickelback.
You of all people, should of appreciated Zayra, Dave, with your early, most important years in JA.
What cracks me up the most is everyone freaking out over Gilby Clarke. WTF has he done that mattered to anybody? He is'nt even that accomplished on the guitar, and has'nt written anything important. Got lucky with GNR. You can kick his ass easy on guitar Dave.

Hey man. :-) I just saw your very positive interview and TPC rock out on “Jimmy Kimmel. The stage seemed almost too small for the wicked wall of sound you guys were sending out to the universe. LOL It looked like you were a bit ‘boxed in’ when what you really wanted to do was explode like that safe. ;-) (‘Exploding safes…?’ *checks to make sure this wasn’t “Love Line, instead* :-P) But the sound was spectacular, you all looked fab (nice belt buckle ^^), Steve’s vocals were right on (thought they could have had a bit better lighting on him, though), and the fan/audience reaction was heartwarming to see. Excellent work, guys. :-) If you sound *that* good over the TV, it must be absolutely stunning to be in the same space with that much intense, passionate energy.
