Airports... Ughhhh!
6:47am... Sitting in the LA airport, waiting to get on board our flight to Chicago. It's way too early for this kind of thing. Today The Panic Channel has a day full of travel, acoustic radio shows, press and then finally our show this evening at The Hard Rock. We come home tomorrow morning so I can be back in time for Wednesday's elimination taping for Rockstar. After watching all of the performances yesterday, I have to say that I really have no idea who Supernova will be sending home. I'm usually wrong anyway. My best guess would be Jill or Zayra. It'll be interesting to say the least. I'd like to have the guys rip into a double or triple elimination, myself. Jill, Zayra, Josh... Later!!!!!! Thanx for playing. I know it sounds harsh, but, I mean, come on already! Let's get this thing heated up. I'm sure they can all do well on their own, but I just don't see either one of them fronting this band. Josh has a great voice, but not enough edge, Jill seems better suited as a solo artist and Zayra... She is just a total trip unto herself.

Yeah, airports suck in general and early in the morning they make people want to commit murder.
There seems to be a recurring theme here, Dave, of you wanting Zayra, Jill and Josh to go home. I have to wonder what the band is seeing that you aren't. Are these three people just entertaining enough to keep around, or are there just so many unsuitable people this season that it is taking a while to get around to them?

Morning everyone!
Looks like I picked the perfect time to check in here before heading off to start my hellacious work week! First!?! Only 8 more days till (ONe)people...can't fuckin wait. I will be voting my ass off to get Why Cry on that damn countdown today at work.
Have a blast in Chicago, Dave. Like I said yesterday...perhaps we can get a little Panic Podcast action from Chicago! :D
I'm w/ you on the triple eliminations this week. Im good as long as Zayra goes. Jill and Josh are right behind her though. Although, I'd straight buy some Sublime/Jack Johnson album I could see Josh making. Like you said, he's just way wrong for SN.
Have a great day everyone!
Love, Amber :)

Just remember, Dave, what a great thing you are doing for Pediatric Aids and MS awareness with your show tonight!!, not that it will make sitting in LAX on a Monday morning any easier..but, you never know...
And as far as talking the guys into a double or triple elimination...I have four words for you, that I see on the tv screen at the end of every Tuesday and Wednesday night show
jezzi(DAVE NAVARRO---EXECUTIVE PRODUCER..son!!)

It's funny to see how many people dislike Zayra when you read the rockstar board. I almost feel bad referring to her as Rockstar's William Hung (which seems to have taken off hehe).
I went back and reviewed her performances on youtube and really you know I have to give her huge credit for just being herself and for actually doing things different each week. Nope don't think she's right for Supernova but I can see why they keep her there. I would rather see Jill go then her.
As much as I'd like to see a double or triple elimination (which would really shake things up) I guess there is a ratings thing involved and I guess it would shorten the show.
Have fun with the promo stuff and your show tonight. If you ever hit TO that would be great :)

"Zayra....a total trip unto herself."
Well said.
Won't be able to make it to the show tonight, but hope everyone there....including the band....has a great time!!! Have a good week, family. Go out and make a positive difference in someone's life. *hugs to all*

Jezzi, you read my mind. Tommy may be "hatchet man", but as Exec. Producer, Dave's gotta have some stroke too, right?
Other than that, just want to say "hi" to everyone. Dave, have a safe flight and a nice time in Chicago!

I agree with you completely, everyone knows who the final 3 will be. Everything else is pretty much filler. I think this band will either choose Magni or one of the girls (storm or Dilana). Lukas is too much of a drunk for these guys, its one thing if they were young and in their 20s but these guys are in their mid 40's.
Posted by: lyle at August 7, 2006 07:55 AM
I have no problem with your recommendation for triple elimination. In fact, I welcome it.
Posted by: lynne at August 7, 2006 07:59 AM
I like Magni and Storm too!!!! all tho i would love a girl to win, i think Storm would be better on her own, and will be a great and really famous artist. So i guess Magni should win, he is more "band-mate" i think.... lets see what happends!

Now I know why I don't drink much...hahaha
Yes--Zayra needs to go so we can get on with the show.

when you really get bored...
you can play the "Color Game"...
it goes like...
the picker says
"I see something Red" (or whatever color)
and the finders look
"To find the Red thing you picked"
it passes the time in an interesting way...

Totally agree... it's cool for Z though, the longer she stuck around the more chance she's had to grow on people. Now most of the people at RB (rockband) LOVE her. She is even starting to grow on me. Most of all though I am loving the mothership/alien jokes...
Everyone is waiting for a double elim. but I don't think there will be one unless they need to lose a week... oh well, it's only one extra week to see my boy Lukas perform!! He's worth the extra "filler" performances... although I wouldn't REALLY call these last people "filler" since they are all talented... just have zero potential for SN.

Dave,
Ouch, rough deal, in the airport so early. I'm not a morning person as it is, I can't imagine having to wait around for your flight that early. Sounds like you have a full day ahead of you, so best wishes. Hope you get some rest somewhere in there and have a blast along the way. :)
Also, love what you said about the triple elimination. Couldn't agree more. Especially about who to send home. Although, I'm waiting for Patrice to be sent packin' too.
Much Love,
~Ali

I think we all agree that a triple elim is needed and with those three!
Best Lukas quote of the House show: "If you overthink a song, then it tends to be...overthought". Thank you, Captain Obvious. :) Also, his drunken (damn, I hope he was drunk) antics while rehearsing are really fun to watch.
Why Cry is on fire over at VH1.
Safe trip, kick ass tonight, Dave.
Happy Monday, 67'ers!

Man you guys are too hard on Patrice. Jill has a great voice but she's more like the girl in the video than she is the girl in the band. Josh and Magni must go though. They're too show-tuney for this band. The guys in general are weak this season. Blah....
But, my dear Mr. Navarro, you are here in Chicago by now and the weather is purrrrrfect! Seeya tonight!

i think a triple elimination round is exactly what this program needs. I watched the inxs performances on you tube to refresh my memory & there was so much more rock..This is not american idol why arent the contestants bringing more rock into it. We all know they can sing for sure but very few of them are gonna be able to front the band. It's actually becoming boring where i have to record the performances only so i can skip the ones i donnt wanna watch. please get rid of Josh(eventhough i love his voice & him but he's not a rocker),Jill & zayra (for the obvious reasons),Patrice (she looks like a chicken! & has absolutely no stage presence), Storm shes better off solo or at cirque du soleil doing her crazy eyes & face expressions & tobys just not bringing any rock either id like him too loosen up & jump around cause i think he's capable of a lot more than what he's showing us. I just want it to come down to Dilana, Lukas(ony become he's a good performer), Magni .. Ryan yet to see what he's gonna bring next. Its funny how theyve realised they need to get on it & do there best after 5 weeks of doing fu*king crap..
This time around the performances dont even come close to last years .. Marty JD Mig Suzie ... you just looked forward to everyones not just those 4 .. but this year its just not going so well ...
i really think you should give heavier songs for the song selection so that way the people who think can get away from doing the heavy thing will end in the bottom 3. Can you imagine josh jill zayra trying to do heavy stuff. Yeah that would be a good way to see who's capable of fronting this band. Giving stuff like sublime is an easy way for josh & it'll keep him safe..

So, if anyone sees Tommy wearing a shirt that says:
"MY HATCHET IS BIGGER THAN YOURS" I was the one that gave that to him at the Rockstar taping. :)
I gotta tell you guys, it was my 1st show.....
I drove down from Vegas and drove right back to make it to work the next day. I almost didn't get in. The VIP list is big, and if you don't get there early, you might not get in. They didn't send out an e-mail about the overbooking either. I was ready to go on a Dave rampage if I didn't get in!hahaha
Anyways, it's so different in person. Dave is right on the editing, you miss alot if you are not there in person. I wish that I could go to every show, but I gotta hold down my job.haha
Take care! Melissa from Vegas

Totally agree on triple elimination... let's get down to the meat and potatoes. Starting with 15 contenders may have been a few too many.
The idea of Zayra covering Mott the Hoople is making my brain ache.
Why do I have the feeling that Toby's been playing practical jokes on people for almost six weeks now? Would love to see an outtake DVD of Toby's antics.
Anyone think Ryan's original lyrics (reality episode) were directed to Dana or am I just trying to start something?
Posted by: LA at August 7, 2006 01:16 PM
Hi Bafodelic:
I agree with you.
There were more rock type artists last year.
BTW I mentioned in a post the other day, comparing Poker to SN, that I think that right from the start, SN was dealt a bad starting hand.
I don't know how alot of these artists made it through to this competition with massive worldwide auditions- but somehow it did.
So many of these artists (although they are good for other genres) are unfortunatly "unsuited" to front a band dynamic with Tommy, Jason and Gilby.
SN don't need to be wasting their energy trying to develop someone who is more suited to another genre of music.
And I think thats now starting to show in the editting of the show with the Week6 Webisode.
I noticed that very little/no airtime was given to the unsuited artist - So I think, as a hunch, we can use the Show Edit as a hint as to where SN is leaning now.

I agree. I'm enjoying this season a lot, but I do miss the rawkers from last season. As a whole, they seemed so much more comfortable on stage than this group does.
Posted by: Whitters at August 7, 2006 01:54 PM
LOL Melissa, The Hatchet Man T-shirt is amazing! If we see him wearing it, we'll definatley know it was your idea. Way to go girl!!
Lucky you!! Glad to hear you made it into taping!! I would love to see one of the live shows, but my drive would probably take about a week to get there, or I'd need to book a flight around my vacation days-but then risk not getting in.
So can you give us the scoop on what they sung, and how things went- or are you obliged and sworn to an oath of secrecey. ( I can't wait until Tuesday!!)
Did they perform their original lyrics, as well as their song choice in the show? How did they do? Who sucked? Who was mediocre? Who was good? Who was the best?
In the webisode they didn't show all of the artists performing their original lyrics, so I'm wondering if we'll here them all on Tuesday's show.
Posted by: Joanna from Toronto at August 7, 2006 02:13 PM
Hi LA -
Interesting take on Ryan's lyrics. But I'm not sure about the Dana connection.
I've lisened to some of Ryan Stars original songs on utube, and he seems to be a very emotional artist. I think his lyrics need to have a very high level of meaning to make the song personally meaningful to him as an artist. Seems to be his style.
I could see him bringing some extroardinary quality rock ballads to the band though (kind of like Guns N' Roses November Rain).
Posted by: Joanna from Toronto at August 7, 2006 02:31 PM
D-dogg, from my viewpoint I find you very lucky. You get to go to my hometown, Chicago, that I really miss. Your work requires you to do one of my favorite things- travel. You get to create and play music. You're admired and respected for your talent by a lot of people. You have your health. I'm sure you're grateful for all of this. So being at an airport early in the morning doesn't really seem that bad if you ask me...
Happiness comes from focusing on and being grateful for what one has. If one focuses on what they don't have, on the differences between themselves and others, then all one will find is unhappiness.

If you did make it. You are a lucky man.

Just like almost everyone else. I too agree with the mass elimination. A co-worker and I discussed this last week after the elimation and said we wished they had done it then.
It will be interesting to see if they do that. The show is lacking luster last two weeks. Something fancy needs to happen.
Take care!

Posted by: Tonya at August 7, 2006 02:48 PM
Double or triple elimination is the only way to save the show, as was mentioned on an industry chat board....and I'm talking ongoing double & triple elimination. Beef up the final episodes with a variety of additives: Quick (2-4 minute) segments on individual house band members and their equipment, since half the people still watching are in it for it's focus on instruments as much as vocals: Full versions of the songs, not snips-that's what the winner will be doing on stage, might as well see what they got now; Final episodes show band working with winner. There's only two that have a chance of doing the job, question is which one will get it. Good luck.

Your lack of respect for the contestants is disheartening. It genuinely makes me sad that a person would be so hungry for attention that they'de resort to berating people. Especially people who are at present helping you make money, whether you need the money or not.
Writing your comments before the episodes air is a blatant attempt to attract traffic to your lame website.
I suggest you "go start your solo career RIGHT NOW" and then blog away about why YOU aren't a huge superstar lead singer yourself.

Well Tanya, Thanks for adding one more hit to Dave's "lame ass website" Every little bit helps! Maybe someday, with the support of people like you, Dave will finally accomplish his dreams of becoming an amazing rock guitarist. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA....if you don't like Dave or his site...why are ya here?!

Hey Tanya- you obviously don't know anything about Dave or this site, so please allow me to share.
First of all, as for the money comment you made:
>Dave performs a wide array of shows in which "ALL" proceeds from his ticket sales are directly donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
Also, you notice that you're in this site, and posting your SN comments FREE of charge right now. Well, it doesn't have to be this way, as it isn't free with many sites where membership fees are required for you to post your puny comments.
Secondly, with regards to commenting about the SN performers.
>Well, this site has been here "long" b4 SN. Please feel free to take a look at the archives.
SN is just part of Dave's daily ongoing journal now, Dave is there to fully support SN-and not the contestants, and we're here to fully support Dave-and not you.
And Finally, you definatly don't know Dave- He's a guitarist - not a lead vocalist that is going to start a Solo career.
So please do a little research first before posting next time. I'm sure you're favorite on RS:SN would have had better leg to stand on if you would have posted some intelligent comments, that had at least (ONe) fact correct.
Thanks for adding one more hit to Dave's site :)_
Peace

First I want to let you guys know that "Why Cry" is back down to a thermometer. I was just there and voted 40 times. It was on fire when I was there last night and this morning. We have to consistently vote to keep the torch burning!!!
Dave dating Jenna Jameson? I think if he's seeing her it's more about sex, not dinner and a movie! haha
Drudge, that was so rude to post comments made about someone's sex life, although I'm sure it's a lie. I wouldn't blame Dave for deleting this post, because who wants to see shit about comparing lovers!!!
Joanna, no they didn't perform songs they wrote. I was expecting that. There are some really good performances, and of course the best one was from my sweetheart Lukas!!! He even got a standing ovation from the judges!!!

Why does everyone insist on commenting on how last season of RS was sooooo much more rock. Who gives a rat's ass? That contest is over!!! Plus does anyone really listen to INXS these days anyway?
This season is great and will be made much better once they send Jill back to wherever she came from. I completely disagree about Zayra, Dave, she has what it takes to stand in front of Tommy Lee and not disappear (except maybe a good voice but you can work on that, you can't work on a lack of inate charisma).
Looking forward to the performances tomorrow night!! Lukas is either going to kill it or suck ass again. And Dilana needs to do something after that abyssmal exercise in song writing. It's getting good!!!

Linda, I LUV YOU TOO much to stay away:) Peace out 67ers, rock on DMN!

P.S. Triple elim, what a GREAT idea!! I agree with all your choices. Esp Zayra! Linda , how is the MSN working? You better take it easy on that voting hand.

Did anybody find that Dilana completely manipulated Lukas by coercing him into choosing Creep. She thought he would blow it!!
WOW-Keep your enemies close-isn't that the truth.

Hi Danni and Sweets, good to see you girls here. Sweets thanks for telling Rob that Lukas killed it! I was posting the same response when I lost my connection. Rob even with your suggestion, I still can't get into the rockstar site. I was talking to a friend, and she got on there right away, I don't know what's up?
Has everyone been over to vspot, I was there about an hour ago, and "Why Cry" was still a thermometer. I'm going to go back and vote again, hopefully the flames back up! Keep voting everyone, because it was on fire this morning and then cooled down!!!

"Why does everyone insist on commenting on how last season of RS was sooooo much more rock. Who gives a rat's ass? That contest is over!!! Plus does anyone really listen to INXS these days anyway?"
--well i can answer this from my point of view. last year's contestants were better. end of story. they at least could sing and bring the rock instead of this bunch. while i don't listen to inxs often, i am kind of shocked that this is what such legends as tommy lee has to choose from. after last year's show i think we all expected top notch contestants..and instead we get zayra the g-string/batman/stripper weirdo among other not much better contestants. i know i at least feel like none of them are really good enough for tommy lee's band. but hey, i watch for dave anyway...so who cares? :P

oh and linda...i voted like at least 50 times earlier..i had three windows going at the same time and all. LOL,i am trying! 8 more days people...7 not counting tonight!

I just listened to Marty Casey sing Creep on my iPod and I reckon the band should put the winner on a contract and then kick them to the curb and get Marty Casey to front they - he'd be awesome as and suit them to a T :o)))

MoonRider, I don't get it, I was just there voting again. Maybe Dave and the boys vote for themselves, and they're too busy. I wasn't trying to imply that no one else was voting, I just don't understand what happened. It was on fire last night and this morning. This sucks!
Posted by: Linda at August 7, 2006 10:04 PM
Linda, I think everyone is just frustrated that you have to vote a bazillion times just to keep the flame going. I mean who, has the time to post all day? I wish I could EVEN post. Maybe, I will have to sneak over to mom and dad's computer again........
DN< 4-got to tell you thank you for posting every day and letting us into your world. I appreciate you.
Fly me away to the bright side of the moon
And meet me on the other side :)

ok, so i am over at vh1, and for the first time, i decide to actually watch someo of these videos. Not only have i not been watching them, I never even looked to see who else was on the list, (except forRHCP, i voted for them too!)
I watched to OKGO video, I saw some clip on tv over the weekend so I had to check it out. That shit is hysterical. the song is whatever it is, could care less, at one point i actually muted the laptop. but the video, genious. total gigglefest. love stupid shit like that. (no need to insult me, the one thing I pride myself on is being SO easily amused)
seriously, watch it, funny stuff
now for my punishment.......

Hey Dave,
Sorry to hear about you and Carmen. Tough luck. Just read over at Perez Hilton the things you had to say about the breakup, etc. Seems like your a pretty cool guy. Keep your chin up and keep rocking.
Cheers,

I know this is going to be a real downer, but my heart is torn in two, and it's too late to call anyone. I can't stop thinking about how much I miss my son Jason. Yesterday when I saw Lukas, I just wanted to hold him in my arms and never let him go. He doesn't look like Jason, but he reminds me of the days when Jason dyed his hair green, once wore his hair in a devil lock like Danzig, was sent home from school because of the sharp studs he had on his Docs. He was into death rock, and wore white makeup on his face, while taking photos with his friends in graveyards! He was obsessed with death, like you've been Dave. Unfortunately it came way too soon for him! The last time I saw him I cut his hair. I didn't realize that I would be cutting it so he would look handsome in his coffin!!
For sure you will probably delete this whole post, seeing some of the other comments on here. Sorry about being such a downer, but you know the anguish caused by someone you loved dearly leaving you behind.

"Did anybody find that Dilana completely manipulated Lukas by coercing him into choosing Creep. She thought he would blow it!!"
Yup, and alot of people are dissing Dilana for it. Even those who back her.

Hey Dave, Everyone!! It seems that everything that I have in mind to say has already been posted so I'll just leave it at this....SAFE TRAVELING DAVE! Can't wait for the 15th.

Yuck, airports. Blah!@ The life of a rock star eh? Just have to remember whatever it is you are forced to do it's usually worth it in the end. I have a friend who played for a pretty popular band back in the 90's and I know how much he hated the touring and sleeping in airport terminals but he always said seeing the crowd at the next show made it all disappear. It was worth every second. Hang in there!
Everone obviously has their opinions about who should stay and who should go on the show but I'll be honest. I don't see any of those people who I think have enough umph to front these guys. I mean, we're talking legends here. Jason is a serious genius on a bass and Tommy, holy hell, what can you say? He's f@$kin TOMMY LEE! Gilby is one of my all time favs and with the three of them together on stage, my god! Only someone with some serious ability to bring it is going to be able to fit in. I just don't know that I see any of the remaining being able to do that. Just my opinion though.
Safe week and much rock.....J

Scott Dobson v. Patrick Wark
Dave, who would go farther on Supernova, Scott Dobson doing his best impression of Carlos Santana or Patrick Wark playing the air guitar to Zeppelin?
