Funny how the Hollywood PR machine works innit? Timing is everything.
Dave has a new CD about to drop.
Carmen's people announce the split.
The separation story on MSN has links to TPC's new single and video.
How ironic.
Is this her Dave?

yes, if you sell TPC shirts at Shop13 it would ease the still guilt I feel for failing to get them for Oldschool as promised. :)

That is one awesome fucking album cover! I'm assuming Steve is the master behind that? Good job Steve!
As far as all the hoopla surrounding Dave and Carmen's relationship status, all I can say is I wish you both the best. A marriage is hard enough to make work, I can only imagine what that must be like when you add all the time apart due to work, as well as having the magnifying glass that is the media waiting for something bad to happen. Sorry to hear about the split Dave. Obviously no one can no what you two are really going through, but I hope the whole thing doesn't sour how you view/feel about the existence of love. Yeah, I know that sounds a bit cheesy, but I can't help but think of those "Love in LA" chapters from Don't Try This At Home. Just trying to send some positive vibes, hope Dave doesn't go back to that "Love in LA" mindset, and wish for the best.
If there's anything Dave has influenced on me, it's that music is our way to get everything out. No matter what's going on in life, there's always music to save you. So let's all focus on the music now, be it from Rockstar or The Panic Channel. :)
Peace!

Great cover art! I will spread that ecard around today to as many people as I know. Im looking forward to seeing tonights airing of RockStar. I've gotten my whole family hooked on the show. Even my mom...she's stoked because the kids sing songs from her musical time period. (Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, etc. )
Sue and Mary - Dave has addressed TPC merch on SRL before. He said that Shop 13 is seperate from TPC. On thepanicchannel.com there will be a store with the band's merchandise. I am assuming they will get that up and running sometime soon, since the album drops in less than a month!! Can't fuckin wait!

Hey Dave,
Headed over to The Panic Channel to see and hear the new video for "Why Cry" and was extremely impressed and pleasantly surprised! Thought your sound might be on the heavier side and to be quite honest, I was in no rush to check it out (sorry!) but curiosity got the better of me. My parents were in to rock and I grew up listening to Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Heart etc ... I really like hearing the vocals in a song and not having to try to decipher them otherwise, why bother? Might as well not have any at all. Absolutely LOVE the sound and wish you all much success with the album! I take back any and all preconceived notions I may have had. Feel free to chastise me for my naive thoughts. Are you planning any tour dates in Canada?
Regarding "keeping things private", you really shouldn't even have to ask. It's nobody elses damn business! Everyone deserves the right to privacy and anyone who thinks differently definitely has issues. There is something seriously wrong with our society when the type of gratitude we show to the people who entertain us is to poke our noses in to their personal lives to see what dirt we can dig up!
Anyway, sorry for rambling. I'm on vacation this week and obviously have to much time on my hands :-)
Take Care - Bianca

Hey, don't mean to start any trouble, but I just thought somebody should say something to one of the comments in this entry. Perez, kindly keep your comments to yourself. Dave has kindly asked his fans for some respect for his and Carmen's privacy and we don't appreciate your gossip.
Posted by: Ali at July 18, 2006 01:19 PM
Hey "Perez",
I think you should post your address online. This way I can send all my photographer friends to follow around your every move and announce to the world whose ass you're fudgepacking.
So I guess this is what happens to people who have no talent or ambition. They spend their lives obsessing about the ones that do. Spending all your time gossiping about celebrities and having people follow them around to see what kind of dirt can be dug up. Congratulations for contributing to the flaming pile of shit that American culture has become thanks to people like you.
What Dave does in his private life should be just that: private. Hey I got an idea, when you go on Howard Stern, ask him if you can dig up some dirt on his daughter to post online and see how he would feel about that. This way you can see a live person in your face reacting to someone's private life being exposed for public consumption.
Peace!

Posted by: AeroGem at July 18, 2006 02:09 PM
Hey Perez, here's a scoop: YOU'RE A DOUCHEBAG. FUCK OFF. Dave pisses out more talent and brainpower every morning than you'll ever have in your bloodsucking, impotent little life. He gives his all to his fans, creates music, art, and beauty. What do you do besides write nasty (mostly untrue) rumors and gossip hiding behind a screen? What do you contribute to this world besides misery and pain? Maybe you should put down your laptop and reflect on what better things you can spend your time on than functioning as a leech. Karma's a bitch.
Posted by: Sue at July 18, 2006 02:09 PM
Dave, dear heart, if you were my younger brother,
i would just sit beside you with an arm around
your shoulders, no conversation, just support.
However amicable, this is a tough thing to go
through. Please know that you are in my thoughts,
from the tips of my calloused fingers to the bottom of my heart..much love.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?? Does it make you feel better to go to someone's blog and try to slam them?? All I got to say is Karma is a bitch, and from what I can tell from the things I see Dave doing, He is about due for some good karma.
Posted by: Mike at July 18, 2006 04:55 PM
Oops, posting the video link? Tacky.
At least Dave has a lot of good karma and good vibes heading his way. Dave, you're handling all the press admirably. Much better than they deserve, but you're just a gentleman like that. :) We're here for you, and secure in the knowledge that you'll be able to ignore all the people who have nothing better to do than come here and pry into stuff that's none of your business. You got us for support, dude. :D
On a more pleasant note, I sent out the e-card to everyone I know. :p Don't know if they'll want it, but hey, too bad for them. :p Can't deny you guys have good music. Can't wait for the album. :) And dig the artwork. I for one agree with everyone who's been saying it'd make a great t-shirt.

especially since I'm about the only human on earth whose not really a fan of The Beatles...
I guess we'll see who exits stage left tomorrow night...

All you east coast bastards! haha Im itchin to see the show, but I've still got over an hour!
I watched E News Live tonight and they played a 10 second clip of the Why Cry video after a commercial break. Ryan Seacrest explained it was TPC's debut single, blah blah blah. Some more good publicity! Gotta love it...

Dave,
We met in Atlanta at the Sushi place with my kids... Just wanted to say... As spiritualy connected as you are, and as much light that you channel when you play, I can see why you are where you are... All the best!! You mean alot to all of us who get what you are, who you are, where you are, and where you have been...
Much love to both of you !!

I am still waiting for mass elimination! More than one of these singers doesn't need to be there next week. I'm becoming convinced I should stop watching. Thanks for the clinic though. It helped some of the singers vocally, but some are incapable of improvement and they just need to go.
Posted by: fortune4me at July 18, 2006 08:51 PM
Stay strong Dave, we're all behind you.

Hi Panic Community,
Whoah, is RS-Supernova shaping up or what? Tonight was a totally hot show! Although I missed most of Lukas' performance.. Darn, darn, darn - I had changed channels during the commercial and well...ugh! I came back in time for the last 15 seconds or so and what I heard was TOTAL ROCK - the man totally puts it out there. Okay, with that said, I will say that the next best performance would be Jill's "All Right Now" - wow, did she hit ALL the notes or what? She did! She had VERY GOOD TIME SIGNATURES and in short, her performance was FLAWLESS! This week I think she even outsang Dilana. (don't shoot!) I have an ever-present soundtrack playing in my head for the Cranberries, "Zombie", and it opens rather smoothly, THEN gets rougher in SPOTS. Dilana's voice is HERS and she can't really bend it to fit the Cranberries, though it was a good performance, IMO it did not outshine Jill's. And how about that Phil tonight? Whoah! What a surprise. You know, I would have fought tooth and nail to sing White Rabbit (if I were there, which I will never be, haha).. Phil totally BROUGHT IT! and I'm sure having Mr. Newsted play bass (and what a great job he did) only helped fire him up - wow! However (yes, here comes a wee bit of criticism), that song needs FULL OUT POWER!
The remaining competitors are as follows (yes, I did take notes this time and am getting their names down pat ;) )
Patrice - "Helter Skelter" (fair performance)
Josh - "Come as You Are" (weak) but the music was also weak and not completely in tune on this one and not at the right pace.
Storm - "Just What I Needed" I soooooo love this song! She did a good job and the house band did too.
Ryan - "Fortunate Son" (decent performance, somewhat improved from last week)
Dana - "It's My Life" (fair) had trouble with timing
Toby - "Runaway Train" (weak/fair performance)
Magni - "Plush" (good performance) Hit the notes! Yay! I love this song too
Zayra - "Everybody Hurts" (fair performance) This song is hard to make believable, since the original singer has a very UNIQUE voice.
Jenny - "Drive" (fair performance) A bit off-pitch. Did not hit all the notes. Impressed with her guitar playing though.
I am so stoked that there is an alternative rock show like this on T.V. and all the competitors are to be commended for having the guts to go after it week after week. Also, I would like to add that I think the show has now JELLED/SOLIDIFIED. Everyone (competitors/judges) have settled down into a nice groove, the ice is broken, personalities are adjusted, and the competitors are IMPROVING as each week goes by. Case-in-point "PHIL!!!" Looking forward to some more surpises!
Oh yeah, can someone PLEASE get a message to whoever posts the song choices? I would soooo love to see song choices for Led Zeppelin, Rush, Heart, Black Sabbath, Guns 'n Roses, Ted Nugent, and Jimi Hendrix (to name a few). Thanks!
Hugs and Love to all!
SG
p.s. Dave, I loved your comment about "arrogance" in the Hard Rock world towards Lukas. You tricked him! haha!!
Posted by: southern girl at July 18, 2006 09:58 PM
I hear ya Fortune! Too many crap singers. Not fun to watch! I like you idea on the mass elim!!
Yo Dave, could ya eliminate 4 tomorrow? Dana Jenny Jill Ryan. It would so rock if ya boot those losers!
Posted by: Canby at July 18, 2006 10:02 PM
yeah yeah yeah, enough about the talent, I didnt' make it on camera!!! poop!!
just kidding, i wasn't diggin the show at all this season till i saw this one. there is more talent then i originally thought. i still liked last year better, but its good to see them improve. Dilana impressed me more, but Dana, the Bon Jovi chick should go. she is too sugary.
just my 2 cents

storm is my O. bitch rocked.

One more thing. Dave, I could not help but to notice how similar your comments were to mine from last Wednesday, July 12th. I was the first to post, but your blog entry was not as-yet typed at the time I posted, though the blog STRUCTURE was in place for me to post. How weird is that? Coincidence?? Ahh, I just suppose we think alike. ;)
*flattered* :)

Wow....album cover is beautiful! Rockstar pretty much rocked tonight. Of corse Dilana kicked ass! I love her, but I was wondering if you think they would pick a chic in the male dominated industry of rock music? I know I'd buy it if they picked her! Maybe not so much with the rest of the girls. ( I love Storm too though) Well enough rambling.
Love ya Dave take care.

Hell yes, eliminate a bunch at once. Lukas, Dana and Jenny. Never in a million years could they front Supernova. And more importantly, they suck.
Posted by: reg11 at July 18, 2006 10:17 PM
Pretty good show tonight. I thought Dilana, Magni, Lucas and Jill were the stand outs.
Im hoping the Bon Jovi chick, weird latin chick and girl who sang like Lilyth fair are in the bottom 3. BE-BYE...gots to go!
Oh and Tommy had a "Ty-riffic" moment!!! HAHAHA...Magni-ficent. Classic...
Love, Amber :)
Posted by: Ambersonian at July 18, 2006 10:20 PM
How did Dana and Jenny even get picked for this show?? What's up with that?
Posted by: S. G. Peters at July 18, 2006 10:28 PM
dave this may be a rough time but you gotta know.
i was behind you with deconstruction i was behind you with one hot minute i was behind you with bad boys for life i was behind you with strays i was behind you on till death do us part i was with you when jane's fell apart. but i can't be behind you on why cry. it fuckin sucks. what happened to the music? you are all great musicians. what a waste of talent. complete fuckin sell out. tell me the producers wanted it, or made you cut out the riffs. fuckin lie to me but don't tell me you're cashing in with emo, or H.I.M or fuck my chemical romance.

Dilana is my new #1...tonight I thought there was no one else on earth for the job!
Of course, that could all change next week! ;)
Posted by: Cori at July 18, 2006 10:34 PM
Those are fighting words reg11, Lukas is the one, the only one!!!!!!!!!!! (well so is Dave's new album).
SweetMelis, what were they thinking leaving your pretty face off camera! It was interesting to see what they edited out. Like Dave telling Dana she sounds like she should be on the show two channels over, and the guys making wisecracks about Bon Jovi. I don't think it was fair that they left Tommy's comment to Dilana in "Dilana, I wanna", and left out her great comeback "I'm taken".
Danni, I'm sure glad you agree with me, LUKAS!!!!! I absolutely adore him!!!!!!!!

woot!! 131 comments? I don't think there has been that many since before the community was created...way to show the love, people...well, most of you, anyway..
Methinks a double elimination, ala last season's surprise with Heather and Daphna both going, is in order, to shake the rest of the 'rockers' up..
and as far as the 'twerp', she knows who she is, just saying a little hi to the mouse I love, she always knows the right thing to say, and when to say it, just wanted to show her some respect!
love to all, not so much to some

Wow....Lukas TOTALLY brought it tonight. He really is taking the lead for me. You know, I love Dilana, but I really just wasn't feeling her. Maybe I love Dolores too much. Anyhoo...I know who I think the encore should go to. And Zayra really wasn't half bad. Who knew?
Posted by: Margo at July 18, 2006 10:53 PM
Linda... ha! Sorry I said your guy sucks. Tell you what, if they get rid of Idol Baby Dana and Pretty Tonedeaf Jenny I'll be happy. Lukas can stay another week, he's a funny little guy. But they need to pick it up and eliminate at least 2 tomorrow.
Posted by: reg11 at July 18, 2006 10:59 PM
Hey S.G. Peters, we're on the same wavelength. Those 2 suck so bad, they've got to be plants by Central Casting. 2 cute girls, slightly talented... yes sir, coming right up. At least Jenny looks like a rocker, till she opens her mouth. Dana just blows chunks. No way in hell they'll make it much further. Put them out of their misery now. 2 for 1. Just do it.
Posted by: reg11 at July 18, 2006 11:12 PM
reg11, Lukas is going to be the lead singer of Supernova! I would bet you on that, but I'm pretty broke right now, so I wouldn't make much!!!!
Posted by: Linda at July 18, 2006 11:25 PM
I'm glad "A Fan" made those comments. I've been thinking the same thing. Usually the first release from a forthcoming album is supposed to be the strongest track. If this is the best then I really have doubts about the album. It feels bad to be posting this, especially at this time, but like "A Fan" said, you gotta know what some of us think. This song sounds like something I'd expect to here on an Adult Contemporary channel. It sure ain't the cutting edge rock that made me a fan of Dave Navarro's music since 1989.
I'm sure there'll be the usual bunch of sheep saying how much they love it...then again Dave could record the sound of his farts, release it as an album and they'd post with the usually "it's wonderful...love ya work...you're awesome...etc etc". Stop kissing ass people!
Let's face it, if it didn't have Dave's name on this, this track wouldn't get past a first listen.
Very disappointed.

"Usually the first release from a forthcoming album is supposed to be the strongest track."
WRONG. It's what a Record Company deems "radio friendly". What can appeal to a wide range of radio listeners and would get placed in heavy rotation. What you hear on terrestrial radio is usually the "catchy" tune off a CD, you go and buy the CD and find other songs you like better, in most cases. In some cases of really crappy bands, what you hear on the radio is the best they got.
"Sucker Train Blues" is the strongest track off Contraband-but is it radio friendly? The only place that song would ever be played is on Spread Radio Live. ;-)
Btw...Dave, Magni didn't make my ears bleed with his rendition of "plush" (which is a plus considering I am the worlds biggest STP head) BUT whatshisname who sang "come as you are", the kid who freaking smiles while he sings, well he sounded like someone who was constipated. I've only ever heard sounds like that coming from someone dropping a duece.
Dilana...STILL THE BEST IMO!
Zayra...horrible. Her Kate Bush meets Bjork wannabee act is getting old. She is in no way able to front a band of Lee/Clarke/Newstead. Especially not dressed like she was a contestant in a spelling bee. What was with the knit turtleneck tube dress? Come on dave...I thought for sure you would ahve at least commented on THAT!
Posted by: Peebs at July 19, 2006 05:25 AM
hey.."disappointed" person and "fan" why don't you wait to hear the rest of the album before you make such judgements. I went to see TPC perform during the last tour and I was with someone that was a skeptical Jane's fan. He was pleasantly surprised when it was heavier than he thought. Maybe disappointed fans should try to be more open minded.
I can't wait for Aug. 15th
