OMG, just watched the YouTube clip. That was great television and, and I wish that hadn't been edited out. I think the viewers would rather see that kind of thing instead of rehashing over and over what went wrong with the performances the night before.

I on the other hand am watching "Best Week Ever" on VH1 and Dave has apparently had the Best Week Ever. you were mentioned twice it was pretty funny. it could be taken as an insult, but i just laugh, that whole show is commented on by people who have no real careers making fun of those that do!!! Great blog, Dave - I appreciate your comments on what's happening at the show, and I'm REALLY looking forward to (ONe)!

If you have ANY sway with the producers, tell them that they really should cut back on the recaps. I mean, sometimes we'll see the same snippet of a performance and comment 2 or 3 even 3 times during the wednesday broadcast, and we have longer attention spans/memories than that! If we get to see stuff like the clip with Phil, it helps us understand why some of the decisions (like the fact that Zayra is *still* around) a lot more understandable and THAT would help cut down on the questions about whether the hatcheting decisions are truly from the band or if they're being nudged by the producers.

Also, did y'all catch the post-hatchet interview with Jenny? I believe it's in the Edmonton Sun, but I lost the URL for it. She seems to be trying to say that "the contestants" in general aren't that excited about Supernova's music. I don't know if it was published before or after Phil's now infamous interview, but essentially she seemed to be taking the sentiments Phil expressed for himself and applying them to the group as a whole. Any comments on that?

I agree 100 percent with what lerxstlady said above ^ about the recaps. They are redundant, and I'd rather see more "reality" in my reality television than the 16th revisit to Zayra's nutty performance. (How many times do we have to listen to Gilby say, "Zayra, I just don't see it?")

Seriously, after last week, I was really torn about whether or not I wanted to continue watching the show. It wasn't Phil getting eliminated as much as I was pissed that Zayra had been saved again. I was thinking to myself, "they're keeping Zayra on for the freak factor and for ratings," and I was thinking I was done with your show for that reason alone.

I think it would be better television and improved entertainment to be more forthcoming with your audience. You should have shown the real reason for Phil's elimination. After seeing the clip on YouTube, I totally understand and agree with the decision, but until I saw it, I felt like the producers of the show were just keeping Zayra on for all the wrong reasons. Then when I started to read about the controversy on the internet, I just felt like there was no need for me to tune in and continue voting if the cuts were going to be made for reasons that weren't televised on the show.

Give your audience more credit. Loosen up on the "formula" of the show. This is rock and roll, not top 40 pop. We like it gutsy and raw.

Dave, how much control do you have over the editting/ production? I have a sugestion that I think would make the elimination show lots better... instead of it being dragged out forever to see whos in the bottom 3 and so on, maybe there could be less dragging out and more of you guy's comments on the couch, cuz personally I would like to hear more of what you guys are saying. Also, maybe they could film more of Supernova's decision making process - not giving away who they're picking or anything, just things that they like and don't like about each performer - like they do on Project Runway when someone is gonna be eliminated - the viewers get to hear what each person is running with as far as they're thoughts and feelings on each contestant, but the audience doesn't find out whos eliminated till the end. I dunno if you can do anything about it, but I that that either of those things would make that portion of the show more interesting :)

Whoa, I got excited at first thinking Tommy was rocking the drums on RS:SN. I saw him perform live 2x with Motley Crue including the circular rotating drum kit - that was super hottt and performance wise, aint ever been topped!!! I agree with what everyone is posting about the hour long elimination show how many times to we see the same clip over and over. For example the song writing clinic was great reality TV and nothing was mentioned about it or the songs written. And with Zayra being saved again, I got to say I am ready to give up on this show also. Lukas is the only thing keeping coming back for more. Last season with INXS I felt like I was watching a true 13 week audition, I am not sure what I am watching this season, something missing.

I was a bit depressed to see my boy Lukas put up his first dud. He DID have his back to the audience way too much, and the walking to the front of the stage and then back to the drummer is starting to get old. Looked like he was unprepared so fell back on bits of his Rebel Yell and Let's Spend The Night Together movements. He has to come back hard next week, or I can see him slipping from top contender to also-ran. Dilana is still kicking it.

Jill is becoming the new Zayra, but far less interesting. Wow she butchered another one in Week 5. It was embarrassing actually. Should be the next to go, and Zayra will probably escape another boot.

I think Debbie Downer has a boyfriend now..

Hearing Dana's Baba O Riley made me think, "Damn, I remember when Jordis did that one. Man, I miss her!" That's what I hate about the songs being repeated. I can't help but compare the versions to each other.

I think it's Jill that's gotta go. Zayra is terrible but she's certainly entertaining for the time being. Jill reminds me of that "Wah wah wah" parent's whine from the Peanuts cartoons...on crack. Just makes you want to plug your ears and scream.

Just watched the show. I can see why you had to go to commercial after Zayra's performance. OMG! It was bad, bad, bad and I don't mean that in a good way. The outfit looked ridiculous. I was waiting for her to fly off the state like a bat! Supernova has to get rid of her, the only reason why I could see them keeping her around was for a good laugh.

Ryan performance was amazing and it was his best yet. Dilana's performance rocked! She is so amazing. I loved your line about the pants. Tommy rocked on the drums, I felt though that he drowned Patrice out at moments. They need someone with stronger vocals, I think. I don't think that she is the right fit but we will see.

Lucas's performance was bad. Jill's two words Beer Please! You were on the money with that one.

I am enjoying this show a ton and to give you a compliment. I love to see what you are wearing or not wearing. BTW - saw the video to Why Cry, Love it, Love it, Love it.

I will be tuning in tomorrow.

Dave I know what you mean, Tommy kick ass!! I really enjoy watching supernova, but to tell the true I don`t know if any of them could be the singer of supernova, dont get me wrong, there are some kickass singers as Dilana, the girl from puerto rico,and the guy from Canada. But I dont know.. i just cant see any of them as the singer of the band of TOMMY, GILBY AND JASON.
I was talking with my friends (all of them have bands) and we had this conversation if it is posible to "make" a rockstar!! some of them think that it is imposible to make a rockstar in a tv show. I told them that its not that supernova is "making" a rockstar they are "looking" for a rockstar.

I tried to make it to 8 but Ryan, Magni, Dilana, Zayra, Storm, and Patrice were all good tonight (although I can't say that Patrice wasn't overshadowed by Tommy). It's good TV, that's for sure!

Completely disagree with the comment that Lukas is one of those that couldn't lead Supernova. No way is he in that group. Patrice is transparent on stage, no matter what she does. Ryan rocked tonight but his stage presence is sadly lacking.

Lukas laid an egg tonight with a song he didn't like. But Dave and the boys gave him a break because of all of his previous performances, and rightfully so. And guys like Dave and Tommy KNOW that if he was out front, he wouldn't be lost in the crowd.

Go Lukas, Go Dilana. Hell, go all, let's keep raising the bar!

Lukas has one sound, one stage presence and no variation or actual personality. He acts arrogant but all his moves are rehashed from Billy Idol and Barry Manilow. Come on, could you watch an hour and a half of his monotone growl. Sorry I think his time is almost up. He hasn't "changed it up" at all.

Toby is just boring!
