Scandal

Jesus! Never have we had this many responses in such a short time. Oh, and about the newspaper? I gotta tell you, it's not hard to say to the CBS Public Relations person while on set at CBS, "Hey, go get that newspaper thing with Phil's interview in it." Obviously the band had seen it and when it came time for Phil's good-bye, they wanted to send a message to the rest of the singers. Trust me, he was going anyway. I love how people are looking for scandal and all, but the fact remains... Phil said what was in the paper. If anyone is looking for a job, a sure fire way to not get it is to talk shit in a newspaper about your potential employer or partners before your placement is secure. Bottom line!

When the band deliberates, the break can be anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. I recall the last deliberation to be about 30 minutes. AFTER the band made their decision, we grabbed the story so I could prompt a response from Phil.

OK On to other allegations! The blogs over at MSN. I don't read them and I don't know what they ever said or what they say now. That one I really don't have anything to do with. You can be assured that THIS blog is mine and the few times that it has been edited, it has been by my own hand and for my own reasons.

As for the old "producers" pulling the strings of the show, or the "it's rigged" thing, that is just stupid. If you think that for one minute that anyone could get Jason, Tommy and Gilby to do something they didn't want to do, then you obviously haven't been in the meetings. (Of course I know you haven't... But I have.) HAHAHA. Those guys are hard asses and I have never seen any one of them back down for anything. As for the editing of the show, we have been over this before. We have an hour to fit in so many performances and comments, which when you add commercials comes to about 48 minutes. There simply isn't enough time for everything. At the end of the day, there is no rigging, all votes are as they come in, Supernova alone makes their decision, I sit there and drink coffee and that is that. It is really straight forward. Feel free to create myth and mystery and conspiracy, as it is so much fun to read.

Comments

The only thing I know for sure about the 'grassy knoll' is that TPC did an impromptu acoustic performance there...remember the CFR trivia question..that's how I won my tickets!!

I love you, Dave...have I ever told you that?
Some people really DO need a brick to hit them on the head before they get it.

Thanks Dave for the explanation. Especially since it wasn't required.

Also I came across a Non-Profit you might add to your site. It's called Music Lives.
WHO:
"The Music Lives Foundation was created with an eye on our children’s future. On improving their development. Enhancing their lives. Opening their hearts, in the way that only music can. And for that reason alone, we all have a stake in keeping music alive and well.
It only takes a little to make a difference. In fact, just $40 – the average cost of an instrument – will help maintain music education programs in public schools."
WHY:
In communities of all kinds – rich, poor, big and small – when budgets get tight, music programs are often the first to go. And sadly, today that’s happening more and more, putting basic funding for teachers, classrooms, and even instruments at risk. In fact, some instruments, like the oboe, are actually in danger of becoming extinct.
As for the oboe, okay, so maybe it’s not as popular as the piano. Or the bass guitar. But it turns out it’s the instrument that every other instrument in orchestras around the world tunes to. -> http://www.musiclives.org/

Happy Friday ya all!!!

damn...i missed a whole lot of drama somewhere in those 200+ posts. that is okay, i won't lose sleep over not knowing. i have enough drama with the internet being cranky today. i love you dave. your fans/friends...those of us that have been here awhile (some of your fan/friends have been with you many years, while i have for about a year now) will be here as long as you are.

besides...at the end of the day, phil couldn't sing in the first place. i did like patrice's shout out to TPC on the wed show.

Anyone who was at the taping could see why he went home. I happened to be there and after hearing you, Dave, read that article, I really felt bad for you guys that he had wasted all your time. Phil wasnt the nicest guy either. I saw him back at my hotel when we returned from the taping and I said hi to him and he just looked at me and walked away. Not cool. lol.

But Dave, thanks so much for reaching out and shaking my hand that day. It made my whole life! lol. I should be back down there again for the final episodes. Love ya man and cant wait to hear some new tracks from you guys.

Hi Dave..heee hee I was trying to post a comment when this was going up but you said it all..although mine involved something about stabbing his bros-to-be in the back, and getting kicked out was the nicest thing they could have done ;) Have a great weekend and stay cool! *mwah!*

Bottom line...Phil wasnt that great anyway. the talent just isnt as good as it was last season.

I'd love to see the footage from the cutting room floor. :)

dave, you are such a nice, cool guy. i love you! the intensity in your eyes sometimes when a particular song is sung on rockstar that was orginately recorded maybe by people you knew: your expressions are beautiful and haunting. what a very real and caring person you are.
the people in your life that you are close to: they are so lucky.

In case your interested as to why blog-gate seems to be such a big deal Dave, here's an easy place to go to see the actual highlighted blog changes.

It's obvious as to why Mark Burnett and Company are being called out on the fan boards for the, ummm, "reality" show. Not that most of us are so unaware that a reality show is anything but REALITY...it is rather funny to see proof of it though. We amuse easily!

At the end of the day

Phil was going anyway

Why? Because he would never have ''fit'' the sound that SN is looking for. The bobble head thing would have killed Jason in the end too. It was killing me, I can just imagine being BEHIND him all night... Anywho.

Dave, You rock, you're well spoken, down and dirty and honest.... 'Nuff Said

I am happy to be able to see you every week, to hear good tunes and have a show that brings attention to something besides pop or rap music. Bout time!
I agree with summersparkles sentiments exactly, the people who are close to you are SO Lucky!! Keep doing what you are doing and rest easy, isn't this fun having such a full plate and a full comment box!! Luv ya hun,Db

I have read people yelling foul whenever anyone mentions editting. As soon as it's said some say come on you conspiracy theorist nutjob. All you gotta do is say the word conspiracy theorist and then you can dismiss their arguments no matter how valid they are.

I personally don't believe in conspiracy theories. But I do believe in the power of Mark Burnett, good business decisions and good musical decisions.SN is in this thing to be successful as well they should be.Call it whatever you want.I call it whatever it takes baby whatever it takes.

Thank God you posted again! It took me twenty minutes to get to the end of the last post, well maybe five.

I just have to say that Dave doesn't need a girlfriend, he's getting his rocks off by reading all our controversial posts!!! You did read all of them, right Dave?

The inmate in Folsom wasn't a bad idea, they come cheap. That wasn't an intentional play on words, but I think I'll leave it.

Hey Dave are you going to bring up the whole newspaper article thing next week on the show?

Some people are upset that it didn't make the show me not so much I liked Phil but not really as a singer or performer just kinda as a neat goofball who made funny evil eye thingy moves and seemed like a big noodle.Still I liked him.

When's the double elimination how about a triple elimination? How about the last month is just Dilana and Lukas on the show let them write original stuff and play with you and SN and the house band. How much more of the goofy perma grin guy and the dude who looks like he's always trying to take a dump do we have to suffer through?

Love the new single Why Cry, BTW

Peace out.

To think that we are only four weeks into the show and there is this much drama, what a trip. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next week. Thanks for your response Dave, hope you have an eventful weekend.

Posted by: Noelle at July 28, 2006 08:27 PM

There is clearly a massive gap in talent between Dilana and the rest of them. It's so obviously clear that no-one has a hope except for Dilana.
I'm sure Supernova are thinking: "How soon can we get rid of all these amateurs so we can rock out with Dilana?"

Dave - I absolutely love you on the show this year, almost as much as last!!!!! One question I have is about the blogs, which were edited after they have been posted, that much is blatantly obvious. My question involves Lukas' blog, which is the most heavily edited. He talks about SN and the fact that the guys have a lot of other projects - nothing bad at all. He says Rise Electric will always be and talks about how it feels to be on the show etc. Do you think these comments could potentially bite him in the ass, aka Phil style?

Posted by: tbony at July 28, 2006 08:46 PM

Sung to the tune "We're not gonna take it"-The Who

Phil: Welcome to the show, I guess you all know why we're here
My name is Phil, and I became aware this year
If you want to follow me, you got to play Lennex
So put in your earplugs, put on the eyeshade, Supernova is on

He's not gonna make it
He's not gonna make it
He's not gonna make it
He's not gonna make it

See me, Phil me, touch me, release me
See me, PHIL me, touch me, boot me
Listening to you, I don't like the music
Gazing at you, I feel the heat
Following Jenny, I hit the streets
I get excitement at Lennex

Right behind you, I see Gilby
On you, I see the glory
From you, I get opinions
From you, I get the newspaper story

He's not gonna make it
He's not gonna make it
He's not gonna make it
He's not gonna make it
Never did and never will
Don't want no bad opinions
And as far as he can tell
He ain't gonna make it
Never did and never will
We're not gonna take you..
Let's forget you better still...

LOL

Enough has been said about the Phil exit, as entertaining as it is. I have to voice that it is very painful to watch Zayra and her performances. Everytime she is on, I almost close my eyes out of embarrassment for her. She probably is a great person and may sing well in person. But PLEASE someone tell SN to send her home. It is so hard to watch her. Really. On another note: Dave, in one word "IMPRESSIVE". You show such honesty, heart felt responses to the "rockers" that I can tell you that you now have a whole new fan base starting due to the exposure on this show. I have heard 3 people (women) say that they think you are so likeable due to your courage to show such emotion concering the rockers on the show. I guess most men won't display the things you do on a general level. Anyway, of course you are definatly easy on the eyes. Just wanted to say you seem like such a nice and generally concerned for others guy that is so nice to see. Thanks for reading. :)

Posted by: Pandora at July 28, 2006 08:52 PM

Dave, the point is that the official rockstar website is hiding/editing/deleting any reference to Phil's newspaper interview. The Rockers blogs have been edited, Phil's interview was edited, the TV show was edited, and any post on the forums there gets deleted when they mention Phil's interview. The only website that is in any way officially tied to the show that acknowledges Phil's blunder is your blog. It's cool that we can read about it here (and in all the other fan forums), but its very weird that the info is hidden to the average fan who goes to the MSN site. Yeah, most everyone with an IQ over 87 knows that "reality" shows are edited to modify reality, but why the hell are THEY trying to cover up Phil's fuckup?

Posted by: JimG at July 28, 2006 08:54 PM

Dave, you are the best. Even though some of us are new to your site, we love you. I've been living out in the stix for four years with no access to the net, so I have been deprived of this awesome blog, SRL & TPC (you can beleive how pissed this has made me). Anyway, I'm here now and all I can say is that reading yesterday's comments (both the good, the bad and the just plain derogatory) kept me smiling and laughing throughout my ho-hum rock-at home-mommie duties. Thx for this great forum...thx for bringing rock back into the media and for all your cotributions into the music & TV industry. You are truly a ! We rockers REALLY need you in this world. Xspecially, thx for all the good times -- past, present and future -- the new single is AWESOME (can't wait for my copy of ONe)!!

Posted by: jezebel at July 28, 2006 08:57 PM

Dilana huh? She's good I enjoy her quite a bit and she does have some real pro stage moves.I seriously doubt SN will pick a chick though.Just don't see how you can market that shit.

Hard rock bands and we can assume that this is a hard rock band don't generally work with a female lead and a dudes backing her up.There are exceptions but they are few and far between.

Women may support this but men generally will not and women will obviously prefer a male lead singer.A lead singer to be really notable has to be a bit arrogant but you have to be good to be arrogant.Dilana to me is great at what she does but not the arrogant cocksure preening sort that most bands want but have difficulty finding.

When Tommy says he wants someone that he thinks may fall off the stage he actually means it literally not someone who just dances crazy ass all over the place to simulate or the give the impression that they may fall off the stage.

Posted by: KeithMoonLives at July 28, 2006 09:03 PM

Jim G...I feel ya, and it just makes me respect Dave more, that he allows such freedom for us to voice our opinions here, even DAVE's message boards have been subject to editing when it comes to this situation, that could explain the 200 plus posts, it's the only place where people feel comfortable to express themselves without fear of being deleted.

Ooh found this from someone's livejournal

alright guys. here's where i start to get a little mad. after phil got voted off, and they question phil's commitment AGAIN, dave asks 'phil, do you guys get newspapers at the mansion?' phil (along with all the other rockers) say"no." dave then proceeds to read phil the newspaper. a quote that phil said about how he 'didn't like supernova's sound' and 'only wanted topromote his own band' after dave said that, i heard a lot of'but wasnt' that printed at the BEGINNING of the season?' in the audience. dave said something like "Why are you even here??" and phil was like"Dude, i had only heard ONE song and i'll he honest, i hated it. We just listened to a lot more the past few weeks and i really dig the newstuff" and jason was like "but you don't say stuff like that to the press, you know how bad you probably made us look to so many people"phil didn't know how to like respond. like no one did. everyone was just in shock. everyone knew it was bullshit. by saying that it was OBVIOUS that because of that fucking quote they PLANNED to get rid of phil the first chance they got, THAT is why that got edited out of the show. Because as soon as phil was in the bottom three, they'd ax him. Tommy was just like "I just want you to know phil that i had NOTHING to do with this..."

oh god i'm tearing up just watching this. i'm glad they didn't cut out us chanting his names. oh god the tears are coming again. HAHA.

guys Magni was a WRECK. he was BAWLING. Zayra was there smiling the whole time. she just walked to the back becaus she knew EVERYONe was pissed off. the crowd was screaming "BULLSHIT" "FUCK YOU" "BASTARDS" ... pretty much EVERYTHING at supernova. fucking horrible. god that was horrible to rewatch guys. it was even worse in person. but shit.

just realize they PLANNED the phil thing. i mean come on, dave had the fucking newspaper. dave read him shit right out of the newspaper. i don't know. i need to stop now, haha. seriously. i'm disapointed like you don't even know.

Posted by: Deb at July 28, 2006 09:53 PM

Dave, is it true that you really live in outer space and each week the aliens drop you off via tractor beam to your seat? I mean we never see you get up, so I'm thinking maybe you aren't even real. I mean if we don't see you get up on TV then obviously you NEVER get up! Otherwise it would be televised.

ps.

You were gonna post a spoiler after the other night's show (you said that in your blog). What was the spoiler???

Tim

I don't know why TBTB edited all the blogs. That makes me sad.

We all talk about integrity and how artists need to be honest.

But how honest is it to edit a blog. And what kind of integrity is that showing.

I don't think musical integrity and reality tv are a good mix.

Wow, so according to the last post because I defended Dave's right to privacy about his private life, I need a vibrator?

Okay, scuse my dumb ass, but I must be missing something. I don't know about any of Dave's other regular readers, but I think it's a little low to use someone's marriage break up because you don't like a decision that he didn't EVEN MAKE.

I can just see it now. Dave twisting the arms of Gilby, Jason and Tommy and shouting 'get rid of Phil'. I think some of you need to go back on your meds.

Phil sucked. He looked like one of those noddy dogs in the back window of an old person's car. I'd rather slit my own wrists, than watch him front SN.

Conspiracy theories, edited blogs and because Dave is executive producer, its all his fault.

Damn, some people have a lot to learn about the way things work and Linda, you can come and borrow my peanut butter. My dog snuffed it when he heard Phil sing!

Hey Danni,
Storm is my favourite too,She IS hot as hell, she could be in my band and play the triangle, I wouldn't care as long as I could share the stage with her :)

i really hope that was your sad attempt at humor. because if you are telling the entire world that you were in TEARS because some guy that could not sing got kicked off a show to compete to be in a band that he did not like...grow the fuck up. i mean really, who cries (besides the actual contestant and maybe his really close friends.) when someone gets kicked off a reality show? and really, for the auidance to scream ugly things at rock legends...i am surprised that tommy didn't tell you all to fuck off yourself. guess what people: they don't need your approval.

Tim, if Dave got up doing the show, they would have to edit that out!!!! Actually he does get up and walk around, he could never go that long without a smoke!!

Posted by: Linda at July 29, 2006 01:00 AM

supernova isnt really a band, they are a group of astronauts planning on travelling to the sun and they are looking for someone to go for a walk on the sun because they are too scared in case their feet get burned, by the sun

Posted by: kevin at July 29, 2006 01:16 AM

good drugs kevin??? Linda, it's waaaaaay too far. I can't believe DN wouldn't walk around also, he is so energetic! Linda, you are very lucky to get to go to the shows,I live in ND. YAY! It's 3 am and I am still posting=I was just laughing at you, Linda, because you and my mom and I always love our jars of PB:)

Posted by: Danni at July 29, 2006 01:20 AM

Wow, you see the oddest commercials this time in the morning. This one is for the guys:

EXTENZE-MALE ENHANCEMENT PILLS. ONE WEEKS SUPPLY AT THE COST OF A POSTAGE STAMP. THERE'S EVEN A 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE IF YOU DON'T EXPERIENCE NOTICABLE RESULTS!!! I'm not kidding here's the number: 1-800-861-5267, or you can text your order on Verizon wireless!!!! I am kidding about Verizon wireless.

Posted by: Linda at July 29, 2006 01:21 AM

I like you Dave. I'm not so much into the show this year, but I'll level with you. Half the reason I watch is just to see what you'll say. Hope for all the best for you and your buddies with your new album. :)

Posted by: geekhorde at July 29, 2006 01:21 AM

Linda, just a stamp gets you a RISE:) can't beat that huh?

Posted by: Danni at July 29, 2006 01:25 AM

Danni, we have to stop meeting like this. Maybe someday we'll get to meet at Dave's house. I bet he has a pantry full of PB, maybe jelly too!!! OOPS, the jelly sounded kinda nasty huh? I guess it's all in the brand name.

Posted by: Linda at July 29, 2006 01:26 AM

Sounds YUMMY to me........;) better go zzzzzzz and have sexay dreams!

Posted by: Danni at July 29, 2006 01:29 AM

Danni, I guess we were posting at the same time. That was cute, a stamp will get you a rise. I'm curious how long it rises before it falls. You know, you have to keep kneading the dough!!!

Posted by: Linda at July 29, 2006 01:34 AM

So, I have to admit I am not surprised about anything that happens in the press, or by what it causes to happen. I'm one of the gatekeepers. But I can honestly say I try not to publish anything that's not true, and I love supernova for its own style. Of course that doesn't matter much at the moment. I'm a copy editor and don't write that much. But if I hear from you doll, I promise to make a big splash of it. :)

Posted by: Melissa S. at July 29, 2006 03:36 AM

hey Dave your awesum I'm a huge fan. I totally agree with you. It just shows what lack of respect Phil has for Supernova. He didn't even want to be in the band in the first place I'm glad he went home. He doesn't deserve to be in Supernova. I hope that Zayra goes home next. i know thats mean. She has a good voice but I think its not right for Supernova.
Either Luckas, Dilana or Storm will be in the band.

i found this strange white powder in a bag called shoogarrr

not really im just quite a random little fellow

Posted by: kevin at July 29, 2006 04:06 AM

Marty would be so perfect for Supernova!!

Posted by: Jacquie at July 29, 2006 04:37 AM

Ditto Jezzi about the Grassy Knoll. As long as TPC is there performing an acoustic version of Outsider it's an awesome place to be!

Posted by: Carole at July 29, 2006 04:58 AM

Hey Dave I think that you are the star of the show this year well you and Lukas and TLee. Dilana is entertaining and so is Storm to a lesser degree.I appreciate that you seem a bit snarkier this year as well you should because there seems to be as much talent at the top but not as much overall talent.I find it a bit disengenuous when people say things that a performance doesn't really reflect.

Last year you had very little negative to say about JD,Marty and Suzie and I felt that was very accurate as they rarely had poor performances.

To use a comment from last year you above everyone else seems to know what you are doing.Good on ya brother.

Posted by: SirEddieCooke at July 29, 2006 05:13 AM

Hey Noelle...

Maybe there'll be a scandalous wardrobe malfunction on Tommy Lee!!! :-)...

and as for all the recent gossip surrounding Carmen and Dave...

You know what the say as long as the photos are good it's all okay because truth is open for interpretation anyways...

and Dee...
"I don't think musical integrity and reality tv are a good mix"
= Integrity and Hollywood mix like oil and fire!!!

and...

GOOOOOOOO DILANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Savvy at July 29, 2006 05:30 AM

One more thing I came across.

A fairly accurate (imho) valuation of the RockStar SuperNova competitors:
http://realitytvcalendar.com/recaps/supernova/sb/rss.html

RE: Zayra - I hope it's her or Josh this week, either one would be okay in my book!!!

Posted by: Savvy at July 29, 2006 05:43 AM

Hey Dave!

Great Post (but they usually are or we wouldn't be here!)

I must live under a mushroom - I never heard or saw anything about Phil giving an interview. But when it comes down to it - he wasn't good and when he was asked to do things, he stayed the same. Bottom line - "He was not right" for this band. Good luck to him but I am glad he is gone. Would have loved to have seen it be a double elimination and sent Z home to. But not my choice.

Dave it is a pleasure to have you invited into my living room two nights a week - the invite is in person too if you come out this way!

Love Ya!

Always,
me

Posted by: Angel at July 29, 2006 06:39 AM

Savvy- your made me laugh so hard I spew coffee out of my nose...rofl at least it landed on the cat and not on the computer. I got to say, I love reading the posts here and I am so glad I found this site.

The only shitty thing about it is the time zones. When I logged off last night there was 15 comments, I wake up and POW! People are a yackin.

For the regulars here - or Dave, I have a question.

I was really hoping to catch a live radio show with Dave. On the site it says 7:30-9pm or whatever and I know its like a 5 hour time difference so I waited up Thurs night and nothing- no show. I get that Dave is busy which is why I am asking. Does he not do shows every Tues and Thurs - or is this just delayed or postponed b/c of SN, and than when the show is done he will be back to the shows on SRL?

One final note - all this drama is pulling me away from my work...lol, so I am off as I have to get a paper done for Thurs...lol, nothing like leaving it to the last fucking minute because the boards are so much more enjoyable to read.

Posted by: Noelle at July 29, 2006 07:01 AM

Dave, I believe you. As much as I liked Phil's hot lanky look, it was a dumbass thing he did. Yes, he was being honest about his personal feelings, but at the end of the day you just don't diss your potential employers in a public newspaper and expect "bygones" later. Supernova has every right to feel "hurt" by what Phil said.

Posted by: ALP in FL at July 29, 2006 07:16 AM

Hey Dave, usually I respect your comments on the show but you lost me when you pretended to be asleep when Toby was singing Runaway Train. I get that you didn't like his rendition but it was barely 20 seconds into the song and you had already made up your mind so I felt your behaviour was disproportionate to what was happening on the stage, I thought it was totally unprofessional and snarky as his performances up to that point had been great. So it makes me wonder why, I know you don't like conspiracy theories but I'm going to give you mine anyway. I think Lukas already has this gig, but you don't want to piss off the other rockers and the voting public so you have to discredit some of the performances when they don't warrant it, e.g. Magni singing "heroes". A lot of people on the forums are starting to wonder why you never critizise Lukas for not being able to understand what he is singing [enunciation]and how his voice sounds the same on all the songs, yet you are very quick to point this out to the other rockers e.g. Patrice. According to the spoilers the Q&A sessions with the rockers are becoming very heated and argumentative, they obviously already know whats up. e.g.Toby asking Tommy if he could be the opening act for Lukas. In the end Supernova will pick who they want, but please don't treat the audience with such disdain, just remember what goes around comes around!!!

Posted by: gopies at July 29, 2006 07:44 AM

hey gopies, dave was pretending to sleep during Runaway Train because it's a F-ING BORING SONG! and Jason criticizes Lukas' singing every week- what show are you watching? "what comes around goes around"? jesus, get a life.

Posted by: pet ophilia at July 29, 2006 07:55 AM

Gopies (and all who believe the lead singer is already chosen)...

Have you all seen Metallica's "Some Kind of Monster"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387412/

Metallica are looking for a bassist and are auditioning, when Robert Trujillo
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Trujillo
walks in and auditions, they/we can see it's a
perfect fit. But they want to make sure.

I sort of see the same thing with Lukas.
But no one will really know until the last
RockStar SuperNova is aired and over!!!

Posted by: Savvy at July 29, 2006 08:05 AM

Noelle...

How about a Dave wardrobe scandal...

He wears see through vinyl pants with a leather thong underneath!!!

Posted by: Savvy at July 29, 2006 08:13 AM

I am enjoying catching up on all the *DRAMA* that I have missed....very funny stuff, people....with all that is going on in Israel and Iraq, this is a wonderful diversion!!!

I am really loving "RS", but keep in mind, this is called a "reality *show*"--not "real *life*"!!!! If you are sooooooooooooo over involved with conspiracy theories, and disappearing blogs, maybe you could put all that energy to better use, like helping at domestic violence shelters or even e-mailing your congressperson to raise minimum wage....

Just a thought....now back to the obsessing....

Posted by: Elizabeth at July 29, 2006 08:15 AM

Dave,

Thanks for your insights, as I said, someone was asleep and somehow journals got published before being edited. I think it was best to get rid of Phil before he had a huge following (if indeed that ever happened).. a quickie press clinic that show was.. but I do hope you address in the next episode cuz some folks do not follow boards so have no clue what was going on!

Posted by: Sally at July 29, 2006 08:18 AM

Sally, that makes sense to me. Also I heard that Burnett just came back from vacation and he likely had a bird when he read the blogs, since Lukas posted quite a bit about reality TV not being real.

I also hope, Dave, that you address Phil's article in the next taping. Because it was left out, the average person has no clue that Phil dug his own grave. They just think SN are flakes and suckers for letting Zayra stay another week.

Posted by: Alektra at July 29, 2006 08:24 AM

I'd assume plunge a toilet than hear anything more about Phil on there... lol... Onward and forward I go into the present before the future...

Posted by: Savvy at July 29, 2006 08:35 AM

Savvy, I always wondered about that but I am a little shy to simply come out and ask, hey Dave, Tommy, Jason and Gilby,

Boxers, Briefs, or commando... em

Posted by: Noelle at July 29, 2006 08:53 AM

Linda: Hey!!!! of course we can get together to have some coffe, danni can come too and we can all have PB with dave... there are some things that come to my mind that i could do with the PB+Dave hahaha

Heather (moonrider): i'm with ya! i couldnt stand dilana's scratchy sound for more than 2 minutes, u would neveer listen to a whole record sang by her...

Posted by: Marivic at July 29, 2006 09:01 AM

Wait 'til the season's out to totally judge Dilana's voice. She is working with a vocal coach for the first time in my life. Finding more range etc.
Which imho is why she pulled a good covering of "Time After Time"... Though as I said, whether she wins or loses, I'll follow her music career!!!

Posted by: Savvy at July 29, 2006 09:06 AM

Ooooops...

meant "her life"...

Posted by: Savvy at July 29, 2006 09:06 AM

Hello Dave -

Can you speak to the rumor that copies of (ONe) purchased at Tower Records will have a hidden or extra track?

It would sure help everyone decided if they should pre-order, rush right out to the nearest location on 8/15, or wait and purchase at a particular place.

Thanks Dave....have a great weekend!

Posted by: Cori at July 29, 2006 09:08 AM

I don't have tme to read the comments posted here, but I'm hoping that I'm echoing other's sentiments in saying; thanks for the update, even though it wasn't necessary.

It's always great to see a new update from you, but people who are dead-set on having their 'conspiracy theories' will just see it as another part of the "sham" or whatever they wish to call it. Having family in the television industry, I sometimes forget that a lot of people out there don't have as much insight into how television works as I do. That being the case, I think some of these 'cospiracy theorists' are having trouble differntiating between what's a "fix", and what's just part of how tv operates.

That being said, have a good weekend!

Posted by: Jacqui at July 29, 2006 09:30 AM

A totally off topic me reminiscing post:

Just some bands I've seen live over the years...

The Panic Channel, Jane's Addiction (first go around, Nirvana/Pearl Jam/Red Hot Chili Peppers New Year's Eve concert in SF, Hole/Smashing Pumpkins headlining at a small club, WASP/Iron Maiden headlining, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Metallica, Dio, Motley Crue, Cinderella, Poison, Deep Purple (later years), Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Dokken, Scorpions, White Zombie, Danzig, Rage Against the Machine, Heart, Rush (later years), David Lee Roth w/Steve Vai & Billy Sheehan, Whitesnake w/Steve Vai, Steve Vai solo, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, White Zombie, Tesla, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Beth Orton, Kiss (Animalize tour), Queensryche, Vain, Michael Monroe solo.

Not to mention a whole lot of club "real smal" club shows as well as various size FREE shows I've seen in NYC not listed.

A funny thing about my first rock concert WASP/Iron Maiden, is that a guy who I had a crush on (who resembled Steve Harris of Iron Maiden) bit me on my ass and left a "full mouth teethmark bruise" when I was on some other guys shoulders. I later found out it was "my crush" who did it because he "around the way" fessed up to it before I even mentioned it to him. I thought it was cool him giving me a love bite and we got together for about 6 months.

Okay I'm done rambling.

Posted by: Savvy at July 29, 2006 10:15 AM

No Dave don't stop the funny non verbals please keep them up.When Toby was singing his crappy version of "Runaway Train" I loved it when you were feigning sleeping I was rolling on the floor.

I think what happens is the guys make their comments from the live show and as we know many of them get cut and chopped. Then they watch the show and edit to reflect on overall impression that may be more accurate because when they watch the performances back they don't always come of as well or in some cases come across better than what they did live.

I think they are pretty darn accurate the only one I had any issue with at all was the last performance Lukas gave I didn't see anything to criticize on that one he made that song better than the original.I agree with Jason he does constrict on occasion but I didn't see it on that song. Then again what do I know.

Posted by: SirEddieCooke at July 29, 2006 10:28 AM

SirEddieCooke comes here?!? I'm a HUGE fan. Nice to see you around the virtual neighborhood.

Dave, you are indeed the spoon that stirs the pot of controversy. Anyway, looking forward to more PC shows soon - as i commented at tpc site, you guys are one of the best shows around. You don't know me under this name, but I was at your table on 67.

Be well and keep having fun!

Love, VW

savvy, we're all REAL impressed, but what's your goddamn point?

Posted by: pet ophilia at July 29, 2006 10:48 AM

Come on Dave,

Stop the BS! don't you think we read, it's posted all over tons of sites all you have to do is search.
Phil was cut for the article, ask anybody that was there about Magni crying, and everybody in stock. Ask about the crowd starting and telling SN off.

I was right...
SuperNova is a JOKE!

Posted by: doesn't matter at July 29, 2006 10:53 AM

Hi Dave - I have a question (and a much needed digression away from the conspiracy drama): Have you lost some weight since TPC tour? I saw you at the Paradise in Boston and you were pretty trim. On Rockstar, it seems as though you have lost about 10 lbs. Don't get me wrong, you still look great. I was just struck by your television appearance because I thought the camera was supposed to add lbs.

Posted by: E at July 29, 2006 11:20 AM

Gopies, there isn't anything to criticize about Lukas!!!!

Savy, I guess I missed that outfit, a leather thong huh, you have to let it breathe!!!

Marivic, you surprised me girl, yea I could get into the PB thing with Dave. I don't think too many people got the gist of my sick joke about the dogs and PB!!!

Now, something to really be pissed about. "Why Cry" didn't make it into the top 20 countdown. It wasn't even mentioned as a video trying to break through. I have yet to see it on VH1, they play the same videos over and over. Paris Hilton, you must be kidding!!! Dave's getting so many posts here, maybe you can go to VH1 and vote for Dave's new video.

Posted by: Linda at July 29, 2006 11:21 AM

Noelle - Dave was doing regular Spread Radio Live shows for quite a while however he's hasn't done a new one in quite a while, as far as I know. If you add SRL and Dave as a friend on Myspace then you'll get a bulletin 9 outta 10 times, and he posts a note here as well to let us know. If you want to hear archived shows just go to the website (www.spreadradiolive.com) and click "listen now", or go to www.myspace.com/spreadradiolive, or look under radio stations on iTunes and you'll find it under Alternative Rock Stations. There is always 2 or 3 old shows in rotation at all times!
Hope that was helpful! Im sure Dave will get back to at least weekly shows once SN and everything else going on in his life at the moment subsides. He's a busy man :)

Morning Dave and Family! Just in case you wanna do a Sunday 10 Dave....

~To clear up the confusion. Is there a reason that certain songs (ie: Nails, Tool, LZ) are not being offered to the contestants? Would you briefly explain the Copyright situation if that's the problem?

~Any idea what the next single will be off (ONe)?

~Seen anything good on Netflix you'd recommend? I love your movie picks...Have a great weekend!

Love, Amber :)

Posted by: Ambersonian at July 29, 2006 11:46 AM

Amber thank you so much for filling me in. I had a feeling it had something to do with the fact that he is really busy between SN and the TPC release. I have listened to two of his previous shows and I loved them! He is so witty and clever listening to his shows make me laugh. I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't missing it because of a time zone thing.

That's OK Dave- life has taught me that good things come to those who wait- I don't mind waiting :)

thanks again and have a rocking weekend- don't know what the weather is like where you are but man it is sunny and humid in the Maritimes - how I wish I had AC!

your a sick lady!!! but i live it!!! Sick-ards UNITE!!!!!
Anyone going to the taping tomorrow?
Looks like we are on our way to another 200 posts!! Started about a guy whose name I will no longer mention simply for the fact, he doesn't deserve all this attention!!!
