Rockstar/The Panic Channel in Chicago
There is not a lot to report today. Things are dying down and it's back to life as usual. Yesterday's Rockstar taping was a lot of fun. It was probably the most fun we have had on the couch all season. It will for sure be edited down because we have so many performances to get to, but I am honestly excited about when we get down to five singers and still have an hour to fill. It will be total anarchy!
1. Dave why have you decided not to engaged with these performers during clinics etc?
Well, there are several reasons. First of all, when I am not doing the show, I am working on The Panic Channel and preparing for the release of our album (ONe) which comes out in 21 days. Also, this season, the guys in Supernova are so entertaining on their own that I really feel they should be the ones delivering the clinics. The other thing for me, which is a personal note, is that the less time I spend with the singers, the easier it is to be brutally honest with them and not try to tone down my comments. It is hard when you get to know people and like them and then have to tell them why they suck... I mean, why they aren't right for this band. Overall, more Supernova and more honesty from the couch makes for a better show.
Monday, August 7th, The Panic Channel will be playing a benefit show in one of our favorite cities: Chicago, Illinois for the Hard Rock Cafe Ambassadors of Rock Tour. Proceeds from ticket sales for Ambassadors of Rock in Chicago will be directly donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Tickets for the event are available through TicketWeb. Fans will also have a chance to win tickets through local Chicago radio station Q101 FM.

Thank you for addressing that, Dave, it makes perfect sense now...and thanks also for your work for Aids and MS.
that is all.

That does make a lot of sense. I can definately see why it'd be more difficult to be as hard on them as you need to be, if you've gotten to know them. Can't wait for tomorrow night's performances. It's the most excited I've been for any episode of RS, actually. I'm excited that Dilana got Time After Time. :)
It sounds like TPC is doing some great work. Best of luck on your guys' fundraising. :)
Much Love,
~Ali

Great choice and makes complete sense. Hope all is well and your hanging in there with the "back to life as usual" stuff! Chicago TPC...Sweet!!!

Your reasons for not engaging with the performers totally make sense, thanks for taking the time to satisfy our inquiring minds. Your commitment to music and to your fans has truly impressed me as does your commitment to fighting social problems. Dude your awesome. p449

Too bad you can't interact with them more. They could only benefit from your experience. But understand you don't want it to blow up in your face when one or more of them can't handle your comments after the fact.
and Rock On with your giving self!!!

Dave thanks for your comments here (and for all that you do), CONGRATS on The Panic Channel, I'll be seeing you soon....and finally DO NOT LET MAGNI OUT OF THE COUNTRY :)!!

Dave - I think you've already answered this question, but I can't remember the answer: What petals do you use when you play?
Posted by: Twisted Angel at July 24, 2006 11:11 AM
TPC should do a Hard Rock Cafe tour, that way u will come to Caracas, Venezuela and play here!!!! yay!! dont u think it is a great idea? u know u want to!
Posted by: Marivic at July 24, 2006 11:40 AM
I understand how it makes it easier on you- not getting to know the contestants so well, etc... But, I disagree that it makes for a more interesting show. I loved seeing more of you! Dave Navarro as a rock mentor was awesome and totally endearing.

Dave, can you or Steve please make the Magic Castle pics available in the download section of tpc.com? I can't save them from the section they're in. They are absolutely stunning!!

So they made fun of Storm's "Google" comment on The Soup this weekend, I got a huge kick out of that. I personally thought the Google remark was a little gay, so Joel(the host) validated me, I thought maybe it was just something that I didn't get. Turns out, maybe it was just silly.

Thats very nice of you poeple to do.
Hey Dave, can i be a guest when you broadcast SRL? =) I could jam on your guitars and check out your house =P
Anyway, i like the show alot, but i do live in Europe so i've to stay up late or go upp early in the morning. =/
You are a great man, Dave!! Keep it up =)

whoah, Jezzi girl you think like I do! Those are the EXACT comments I was going to make too.
Now for that 'piggy' picture...ah'hahahhahaha. Dave you've never looked hawt-er. Please tell me you'll keep that mask around for our encounter one day in the future...it spicess 'things' up and is quite becoming of your inner character...rofl!

Ohhhhhhh... the RockStar SuperNova casting couch... the little secrets that fall between its cushions rather than being aired on the show...
Posted by: Savvy at July 24, 2006 02:57 PM
I wouldn't mind visiting that couch ;P, like sneak in there in the middle of the night, strip, sit neeked where Tommy Lee sits, dream (ahhh :)), then dress and leave (heehee)
Posted by: deeez nutzz! at July 24, 2006 03:03 PM
By the rather large indentation in the couch, one can easily find where Tommy sits on the couch...
Afterall Pammy wasn't just interested in him for his mind... lol...
(i couldn't resist, you left it wide open for a jokestress like me)
Posted by: Savvy at July 24, 2006 03:22 PM
^^ I know THAT. Why do you think I (another jokestress) posted what I posted? Duh! (heehee)
Ahhhh, sings "what a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty fine man!"

Oh and Dave, about that nail polish you have on in the Magic Castle photo (I did have an inkling ;) ), well it looks more like a dark red than black these days??? Hmm, if I didn't know any better (and I do), I'd say that you're copying my nail polish color choice???
FESS UP!!!!!!!!
Now Dave, you know there is only (ONe) of me and no one else can copy my shticks! I mean c'mon, first you copy my words/thoughts, now you're copying my nails, what's next?? my signature sultry knock 'em dead sarcastic but loving sometimes-funny sometimes-not voice??? I seriously don't think you could pull it off!....LOL.

Shameless Hussy...
Is that a Sunday/10 question?
I have a Sunday/10 how big is your
Guitar Collection?
Posted by: Savvy at July 24, 2006 04:22 PM
I'm gonna guess that the nail polish color is close to Chanel's Vamp..which is described as a deep blood red...yummy....
love,

Posted by: jezebel at July 24, 2006 04:47 PM
Dave, why are you so gay?
Posted by: zubaz at July 24, 2006 04:49 PM
Hey zubaz, what's wrong with Dave being happy?
gay Audio pronunciation of gay ( P ) Pronunciation Key (g)
adj. gay·er, gay·est
- Showing or characterized by cheerfulness and lighthearted excitement; merry.
- Bright or lively, especially in color: a gay, sunny room.
- Given to social pleasures.

Dave, I haven't been able to view the reality part of Rockstar this season, but I have last years shows taped. I really enjoyed your interaction with the contestants, and I think you are far more charismatic than Tommy Lee or any of the other guys. I felt your interaction with the rockers formed a bond that I don't see this year.
Kudos to TPC for the benefit show!!!!
As for Tommy Lee and his hidden assets, it's not how big it is, but how you work it!!! Women don't need big breasts to be sexy, and guys shouldn't feel short changed if they're not 10 inches! Ha Ha
Hi Marivic, I'm glad to see you back here, missed you girl.
Posted by: Linda at July 24, 2006 05:26 PM
Hey, is everyone going to VH1's top 20 countdown and voting for "Why Cry" as a wildcard choice? I was just over there, and they also have a message board where you can post requests for people to vote for TPC.
Posted by: Linda at July 24, 2006 06:56 PM
I have a question for you....
How come what you write here is then cut and pasted over to your myspace site... or do you cut and paste to here?
You ROCK dont get me wrong.... but classic example is how you said on HERE it was the one place you were going to answer questions about you and CE and then exactly the same thing is posted on your myspace site?
Do you get what I mean? If you do well that's my question... it seems very impersonal and commercialised now when EXACTLY what's here is over in myspace...
Posted by: t at July 24, 2006 07:22 PM
How about Rose Petals? Mmmm.
I haven't checked out the my space blog! I can't fit it into my day! I also have two blogs myself but, I am not producing a TV show AND a CD!! I sometimes do a bit of cut and pasting myself. Dave, this site Rocks, you are so great about updating and must be right out straight 24/7! Can't wait for tomorrow..better not thunderstorm again ;)
Posted by: merrymagic at July 24, 2006 08:18 PM
Still curious, a full set on the 7th? Would be cool to hear the full album. Also, still "Dazed & Confused" or would you guys entertain another Zeppelin request???

dave, i am finding you everywhere. that is a good thing. i can't wait to be surprised next. still haven't seen that brittany murphy movie that you are in...i think i will watch it next.

OMG i just read that dilana got time after time...she better not screw it up like she did zombie. uggh. i hate dilana.
Posted by: MoonRider613 aka heather at July 24, 2006 10:31 PM
OMG - Dilana is the fiercest (i know that word is so ovah) of the bunch. There was not one other in that bunch that even caught my eye, or that I would bump into somewhere and say...that must be a star. She deffinitely has it.
I love time after time, love it. This one gatta be soft and heartfelt giving it a tad of strength for those lauper higher pitches or whatever you call them. Do not mess Cindy's song up...she is like serious about her music. Even though she's originally a queens girl...can't have it all. lol.
Saw this, and I couldn't help but laugh my ass off:
"People ask me, 'How can a vegetarian who works out smoke?' It's not about health, it's about vanity: I don't want to get fat. Who cares how pink my lungs are--how do I look." - Dave Navarro
OMG...he kills me. Sorry, but I have to disagree on that one...health is more important, although I smoke and have lived totally unhealthy for the paste couple of years. Fat can be a shield...when you just don't want to look good... It does happen, trust me.

Hahahaha, so much for that, huh? :p Well, at least you seem happy to be "on the road again (just can't wait to be on the road again)." I know I'm not alone in being glad that you're still out there kicking ass and playing hard. ;)

"OMG i just read that dilana got time after time...she better not screw it up like she did zombie. uggh. i hate dilana."
imho she did it good...
and as for "Time After Time" Dilana working with a vocal coach for the first time has helped her find more layers in her voice... So it might come out good... We'll just have to wait and see...
oh yeah and also Tiger Lily petals...

I watched a few more clips of Dilana...I love it...totally love it. Wardrobe is like perfect..specially the combat boot gear...that is so cool. NYC would LOVE you...u remind me of me when I was in High School - 3 years ago.
To bad you already did the hair...that will be me in the fall...I got the summer blonde thing going on now...but, I just told my new stylists that the red comes in Septemberish. I am going to copy this ...so, make sure you change it before then...lol. I just sold my combat boots too...figured I grew out of them...hmmm, now I miss them. 24 hours of dancing in boots really breaks them in...tough to replace. 8-(
I am really looking forward to the performance tonight.
....and if you don't make the band...get out of TexASS...NYC would love you, 'fo sure.
...I heard her say something like "this is my last chance" NEVER think that way...never, never, never....your last chance is when your dead...and who knows, I've read you have to come back to this world and pick up where you left off...so, it never ends...might as well get your star status now...so, in the next life..u continue on as a saint, or something.
....that chick that said something like ..so, and so..."needs to keep their mouth shut"...I don't know, but that struck an ugly cord in me...I would have thrown her ass off the set. The only one that should shut anyone up is God when he knocks you off your ass and into a dirt grave...otherwise...that bitch needs to step. I hate her.
Ok...good luck "Di"....you'll be the only one I pay attention to...you gatta fan...and I hear I'm a good fan to have. 8-)

Mersada...
I'm a huge (new) fan of Dilana...
Here's some links...
Her Website -> http://www.dilanarox.com http://www.myspace.com/dilanarox http://rockstar2006dilana.spaces.msn.com/ http://community.livejournal.com/rockstar_dilana/profile http://youtube.com/watch?v=cidFecacOtQ&mode=related&search=dilana <-
Apparently seeing as someone started a RockStar SuperNova Live Journal dedicated to her as well as a YouTube site with her performances etc. we're not the only ones.
And yes I agree, New York City could be good for her. Maybe she could split time between Texas and here.
- Carpe Diem - Savvy...
p.s. When I'm fan, I'm a good fan to have as well!!!
Posted by: Savvy at July 25, 2006 08:30 AM
p.s.: Jake...about the touring and the age thing...uhm, they say 30 is the new 20. And as far as touring goes...I don't know, but I think--from watching Cher and Tina--that they did their best giving of themselves in their later years...it's a selfless kind of giving to the people that loved and supported you through the years. You don't even know who you are till your in your 30's...then why wouldn't you want to share that journey with the people who love you?
**my thing is...if there is one person that you have an impact on with your performance, you owe it to them to WERK it.
.........all you need is ONe.
Posted by: Mersada C. at July 25, 2006 08:33 AM
I heard 50 is the new 10.
Or is that just for men freaking out inside a midlife crisis... lol...
Posted by: Savvy at July 25, 2006 09:03 AM
Dave I love you and thought you could totally appreciate it this...it's completely off topic but I've been so excited that it's one of those things I just had to share...
My 7 year old skated in his first skateboard contest on saturday and won 1st place in his division...Beginners ages 5-15. The drop in with a 3' air got him a crowd cheer from the whole skatepark...seeing him beam the rest of the day...leaves me to imagine how gratifying your contributions to us must be...Thank you!!!
Posted by: chrissy at July 25, 2006 10:47 AM
hahahaha...50 IS the new ten..LOL. I met a buddy of Eric Clapton's in Miami...around there. He was moaning to me about how the girls (about 18ish) were air heads only looking to him for $$$. hmmmm, I said...well, at 18 - air head is kinda the norm...and uhm, if not money...what would they be into you for...the firm ass?
(I didn't mention the ass part, though...I'm not that mean)
Then the hand went on my knee...he was a bit stoned and drunk...but, you move away from a man with money...and all of a suddent this "friendship" thing goes out the window.
Too bad, it was a shame...I really liked him as a person...the ego got a tad bruised...the son was jealous...and I was out the door.
I don't know...50 with money? Not looking for a daddy. Then they wanna bitch and complain that they can't relate to their 18 year old girlfriends. What's wrong with a woman closer in age to you?
One thing that drives me nuts, since I was 18...is men using that number thing to play at your insecurities...either "act your age mama, not your shoe size" OR....you know your not getting any younger..blah, blah, blah...who gives a shit. I really don't. I could be 60 and I will always be daddy's little girl. Don't be pushing my buttons.
Every watch the "Brady show" (with that Peter Brady guy) does that to his younger--soon to be-- wife ALL the time. I would give my interpretation of it...but, I won't.

"I don't know...50 with money? Then they wanna bitch and complain that they can't relate to their 18 year old girlfriends. What's wrong with a woman closer in age to you?"
'cause they'll have to face their own age and mortality.
i know a woman who's 35 who dates men 10+ years older than her specifically to feel younger, and she's very verbal about it with the men to make them feel old, just so she can feel young.
i guess it goes both ways playing love games...
oh well...

How come no one is talking about voting for "Why Cry" on VH1's top 20 countdown? So far some guy named Greg has posted dozens of times, and I started a new post saying "I'll cry, if you don't vote for "Why Cry". Greg responded to that one too. Come on guys I hope you go there and vote the wildcard for TPC!!!!
Age, such and interesting topic. Actually I wasn't an airhead at 18, I was married and a mother by 19. I'm over 50, but inside I still feel like I'm 20. Problem is that men my age would completely bore me, and they want 20 year olds anyway. I really enjoy being around young people like Lukas, because I am into the look, the clothing, the hair, the music. I mean that in a motherly way! I do have a lot of wisdom to offer, I've been through hell, yet I'm still standing. Elton John song, huh?

hmmm, (age thing)...I would date ten years younger...but, I wouldn't turn around and complain about it in the same breath.
Honestly, I would go younger, than older...for me. Never dated anyone more than a few years older...just can't relate. But, everyone is different.
Some girls feel more secure with someone older, and some wanna be in control so they go younger (ladies and men).
I've been told I can be a control freak...sometimes. ...that can be something I picked up from bad experiences...but, as women...our biological needs are to have someone take care of you in certain ways.
Women in control...well, honestly is un-natural...and learned.
..........ooops, sorry about the tangent. Gatta run...hoping to catch the show when I get back.

Hey Dave, I have been a long time fan of your music, as well as your good looks, and am excited about the new album. I wanted to say thanks for doing the benefit concert, my mom has MS, has had it for 18 years now, and for some reason it never seems to get as much attention as say cancer or Alzheimer's. I hope you can fit Tampa, FL into your concert schedule sometime as I would love to be able to see you live.

They are trying way to hard and either they are screaming into the mike or singing ballads! You're losing me. This used to be the ONLY reality show I would watch, but these people are sooooo below you and what you need for your band! I don't see any of them going on for more than a few months when this is over. They stink!!

man, what the fuck was up with Josh tonight, scat-singing during the guitar solo? I don't know what Dave and Supernova said to him during the taping, but I'm surprised nobody called him on that in the portions that aired on CBS.
Assuming this dude ever fronts Supernova (which is as likely as ME fronting Supernova, honestly), what's he going to do in a show? Wait for Tommy's drum solo and then stand around singing bam-bam-ba-bam-bam-bam! What an ass. Why can't he stand back during a solo and let the band be the band?

Dilana was awesome.
Lukas was awesome.
To me it's already down to these two with some pretty fair competition from Magni.
Magni was good and is growing on me. After this week and last week I could see him fronting the 3!
Storm was good, but looked like a cheerleader gone bad. I can't see her fronting the 3 (so far)!
Dana was the best I've ever seen her. I can't see her fronting the 3 (so far)!
Jill was pretty good but looked like hooker rather than a rocker. I can't see her fronting the 3 (so far)!
Patrice was pretty good but I agree does the same thing every time. Good comeback Dave when she tried to put you on the spot! I can't see her fronting the 3 (so far)!
Zayara honey, what were you thinking all around, performance wise and dress wise??? I most definitely can't see her fronting the 3 (so far or probably ever)!
Toby, Josh and Ryan remind me too much of N'Sync, 98 Degrees and Back Street Boys (what little music by them I was forced for some reason or another to listen to)! I can't see any of these 3 fronting the 3 (so far or probably ever)!
Phil - eat some food. It might give you some strength to perform stronger. It looks like I could knock you over with my pinky, and I'm only 5' tall! But in reality, I just can't see him fronting the 3 (so far or probably ever)!
Plus I really like "No Rain", but he went and dissed a dead man's song!!! Bad bad bad boy he was!!!
Posted by: Savvy at July 25, 2006 07:27 PM
I enjoyed everyones performance except Josh and must say the guys were very kind to him(!!) but he knew he screwed up so why put salt in the wound?
Dave..Dilana gave me chills tonight and I was shocked when you said it too.. she does it for me. Zayra is total young Linda Ronstadt and funny the oldies station I have on is playing "you're no good" right now. Personally I would rather watch Zayra another week than a couple of the others..but you are right, she is not for SN..
Speaking of SN, they are winning my heart, Gilby kicked butt (and playing my favorite Black Les Paul :-X)..Jill blew it she should have been sharing the mic for the chorus but she gags me anyhow..
Hopefully the power holds for me another night for elims..storm watches up again. :(
Looking hot as always Dave-ums! :D

Grind on this for a while:
hmmmm...well...I knew I would get bored, somewhat...so, I pulled out the dog brush and then the vacuum...and u know what...my place is kinda clean now.
I LOVED Di's performance...actually made me cry. Why cry? brought back alot of memories, for one...AND I read her background...so, between the two things...what can I tell you...I can get emotional sometimes. Outfit...was major perfect...LOVE IT. She has an old soul...a beautiful girl with an ancient soul. I love the Euro twist to a NY Girl's original song...so perfect. Loved it.
Don't know if she belongs with the hoochie tommy band...but, she deffinitely has what it gots...and as much as I am not crazy about sitting through listening to bands (rather be dancing than watching someone else)...I would be happy to sit for her for 2 hours...she's amAzing!
Tommy looked like he gots a couple of potential bed mates in a couple of acts, there.
I loved the comment about "looking cheap"...loved it...integrity -- can't buy that. I was thinking the V.I.P. strip club, myself. Not enough tits for scores. LOL.
Tommy is such a trip to watch...nice input.

Oh yeah one more thing.
How come I can walk into a 2nd hand store with only $10 in my pocket and come out more rock than most of them.
They have a PAID STYLIST and MOST OF THEM STILL CAN'T GET IT RIGHT!!!
Dilana and Lukas wear their clothes. They're always rockin!
Magni dresses to fit himself.
The others their clothes wear them and add to their dazed and confused look onstage!!!
Posted by: Savvy at July 25, 2006 07:31 PM
Savvy -- loved your overview, it was perfect...you should have submitted it to your local papers. If I was grading it, I would have given it an A++.
Tommy is such a trip, ...the waking up with bite marks comment killed me...LOLOLOL...u think there's a video?????
hee-hee -- will deffinitely tune in again.

....yeah, but you know what...I GOT A JOB.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!! PUUURRRRFECT.
Posted by: Mersada C. at July 25, 2006 07:40 PM
Dr. Zira for President!!! NOT!! Not even the Sgt.Peppers/Fantastic 4 Outfit could save her. Horrible Blondie impersonation. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Posted by: Dane Bramage (ok John) at July 25, 2006 07:56 PM
Savvy ...I agree..your comments were right on. Storm was the best she's been but I really agree with that cheerleader gone bad comment.
Dilana is it for me so far.
Dave...you were a beautiful baby and are such a handsome, sexy hot, talented, young man! Enjoyed reading that bio.
CAN'T WAIT FOR AUG. 15!
Posted by: michelle n. at July 25, 2006 08:12 PM
Holy shit...Dilana makes it all worthwhile...
So far every week she completely inhabits a song and makes it hers without stealing its original thunder. Plus she's got that genuinely intriguing, dark sensuality, dangerous devil/angel of love, peace and mercy vibe. If she can do playful and fun rock n roll without compromising her style over the next few weeks...kids, we have a winner.
Vibes, Dave.

Hi, just wanted to say I really enjoy your post'. I am older, probably close to your mom's age!, and I love that you are so well spoken. You dispel the perception that the "older" generation may have; that you guys are not very smart. I have gained a new perspective of music from watching this show. Watched it first by accident, but have watched by choice since. I am closer to Tommy Lee's age, and Jason's, so I enjoyed their music years ago. I am glad to be reaquainted with good music. Thanks for the opportunity to talk to you.
Posted by: Pam at July 25, 2006 08:39 PM
Patrice sucked. What a bitch, how dare she compare herself to Dave or anyone on that panel at this stage. she just really pissed me off. ungrateful bitch. Or mabey that was her interpretaion of the arrogance Dave commended Lukas on last week!! Try agan sweetie!!
Zayira (or whatever her name is) has one of the most amazing bodies, so I'm thinking runway model, no noise neede from the vocal cords for that job!!! I knew Lukas was gonna hear it from Jason the second he opened his mouth.
that's all i'll comment on at the moment, the surfer guy is on right now, and better than last week, but I just think he doesn't have it! talk to you in a half hour or so!!

Dude,
#111. Ain't bad. When you gonna do another Jane's album bloke? Stop wasting time with TPC & Rockstar.

okl so i'm back!!! ha ha cant say I didn't warn ya!! Dilana just totally nailed that, Cyndi would be proud to have seen that!!! I didn't like her at all in the beginning, but let me tell you, she is growing on me. and it doesn't hurt that she seems to be a genuinly nice person. I think she has an amazing energy about her. Dana did well, and what was that song, oh yeah, Nirvana, again!!! ha ha I couldn't resist. But she did well with it. Nice to see her grow as a musician. she won't win, but what a ride she is having, eh?
don't care about phil, he did great last week, but eh, i could take him or leave him.
I think I finally decided I want Dilana to win, she was the one I thought was so one-dimensional, but turns out I could not have been more wrong.
P.S. I wanna join Dave's band and "grind all noght long!!!" Dave, I like the way you think brotha!
lol,
till later,
sweets

Josh needs to call Nick and Aaron Carter, and start the next BoyBand, Mediocre-Nova!

OH MY GOD....
STORM...MARRY ME, MARRY ME, MARRY ME.
Storm Large kicks my ass every time she gets on stage...
This show is ROCK when we are down to Dilana, Lukas, Magni, Toby, Ryan, and My Girl Storm.
Posted by: Scott at July 25, 2006 10:08 PM
ok, i like storm, but she changed the lyrics. I love, love love dramarama (don't judge) I didn't like it. she gets those "runaway bride" eyes. a little creepy.
ok that's it i'm done!!
sorry to annoy, i'm feelin a little chatty tonight!!

Hi Dave-
I'm thinking the chances of you getting this far down this list are slim, but here goes:
1) Since the 1st night of this competition, my position on this group is that there are, at the very MOST, 3 to 4 people in this group who have anything approaching adequate chops to win this thing. Further, when you get into differing styles, image, etc., the list quickly shortens to 1 or 2. For the sake of making this process less painless on everyone, will there be any double (or triple) elimination weeks?
2) All of you guys on the panel have been hounding the contestants about "bringing the ROCK" (and rightly so), yet all we are hearing is the same stuff every week:
Stones, Nirvana, Coldplay...Stones, Nirvana, Coldplay...anyone see a pattern?
Who is choosing the song lists?? Like others, I have not been able to see any of the "in-house" footage (a MISTAKE to put that only online, btw),and so I do not have a good feel for the sound that the band will actually be going for... but are the song choices limited because they are chosen based on the style of music that Supernova is writing? What gives?
If you expect these guys to ROCK, where is the SABBATH, ZEPPELIN, QUEEN, PRIEST, etc.? Better yet...JANE'S, GNR, CRUE, and METALLICA?? Not to belittle any of the chosen material, but methinks the workers need better (or more appropriate) tools to work with. What say you?
Posted by: Charles at July 25, 2006 10:28 PM
Sue, thanks for the info, I'll check it out.
Wow, I don't remember any of last years contestants being so rude to the judges. Dave, I loved your comment to Patrice, I don't get all the attitude from these not so talented singers. In my opinion, it will be Lukas or Dilana who will front Supernova, depending on if they want a guy or a gal. Where do the rest of them come up with the outfits? The guys (except for Lukas), look like construction workers or accountants!!
I really admired Gilby for telling Jill that she didn't need to play the sex kitten, because she can sing. Yea Jill, lets leave that job to Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson who have nothing else to offer. Well, I guess they have money too. I'm surprised Jill is in the bottom 3 at this time. I figured Josh and Zayra, but I thought it would be Phil not Jill.

LMAO. I was thinking more like the missing member of Power Rangers but that one cracked me up.

Ok, enough about Dave, are you forgetting..it's all about ME!!!
I just wanted to interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to publicly profess my love and gratitude to the dear Miffy, the Miffster, the Miffermator, the Miffmeister,...haha..thank you for talking me off the ledge..
love,

Posted by: jezebel at July 26, 2006 01:53 AM
Hey Dave, I'm really glad that you're keeping it real with the commentary on those singers..they gotta bring on the ROCK and frankly some of them don't even try! Supernova deserve the best person to front it..they can't afford to tiptoe around bruised egos and hurt feelings. There's no time for that crap! Honesty is definitely the best policy!
All the best with TPC!! :)

Hi Dave!
Once again, you looked MARVELOUS last night (Sunday, actually...)
A couple of questions:
Will you be jamming on the stage like you did last year?
Who did some of these people sleep with to get on the show?
If I had my choice, six of them would go home tonight!
Always,
me

Ditto on what SweetMelis said about Patrice...
Except a little of me wanted to reach in and slap some sense into her!!!
and to answer Patrice's ??? about Dave, if I may->
Dave changes it up and rocks it!!!
Not so much that we think he has a multiple personality disorder, but he certainly never duplicates and delivers the same performance/vibe each time he performs...
Ditto what Kim said on Dilana...
I love her and will follow her whatever way her wind blows... I've also developed a curious liking for Lukas and can see him fronting this band, if he takes Gilby's advice... Plus Magni is growing on me, as a performer.
Raygun, wtf are you on this board for??? Get lost if you don't like TPC... DAVE'S NOT WASTING HIS TIME WITH TPC AND TPC!!! But you are with your 5 year old comments...
See, I'm not the only one that idolizes Tommy's endowment. They discuss it on here too!!!
What Sam said... Dave keeping it real and serving up brutal honesty... Cause in the beginning middle and end that's what they need... and it's what you got to give to the show...
>frankly some of them don't even try!
maybe they are and just aren't rock???
and in my not so humble opinion as well as more than a few others, it's time for Zayra to go. I really vibed with your comment to her about finding a solo career real soon (ad lib -> rather than later).
This was the best RS:SN so far and I think is the beginning of the separation of the ones who have what it takes to front Super Nova and those who don't...
Posted by: Savvy at July 26, 2006 04:13 AM
Pam - good music can bridge the gaps between the ages, cultures and races...that is "good music".
Some how, "business" just never gets that part of it.
Trees don't grow overnight.
Posted by: Mersada C. at July 26, 2006 04:56 AM
One more comment on this for today...
I'd like to see them all faced down and asked the question why they want to front SuperNova point blank.
Posted by: Savvy at July 26, 2006 04:58 AM
Love that we never know where Dilana's going. She is so good a changing things up, and every performance is just right on the mark. I love her! Magni really grew on me, I felt bad that the guys were critical of his performance, I loved it. Sometimes I just want to see someone stand and deliver! (Adam Ant, anyone?) :)
Listening right now to Zep III on cassette, found a bunch lying around, including NIN-Broken, The Alarm and Love & Rockets-Earth Sun Moon, they sound as good as the day I got 'em!
***Dave***
Kristen and I will be plastering TPC flyers all over the Bowery and Soho tomorrow before the RS:msn thing, will send one in for approval but if we don't here back, we're doing it anyway!
Love,
Sue

"I love her! Magni really grew on me, I felt bad that the guys were critical of his performance, I loved it. Sometimes I just want to see someone stand and deliver! (Adam Ant, anyone?) :)"
I think they like what he did songwise, at least Jason did. But he didn't interact with the audience as much as they'd like because of Black Beauty he was playing.
Posted by: Savvy at July 26, 2006 05:28 AM
Hey Dave, an offbeat thought...
Pass some photos around of Raiana to all the lady SuperNovas (except Dilana - who dress awesome on her own) to show them what rock looks like.
Raiana dress hot and sexy and never looks like a hooker, even in the SRL undie pics!
Also a good reference point is Shirley Manson.
and seriously, when Brooke dresses rock, she gets it right! so they should look at her too!
