Panic Updates and Stuff

It's hard to believe that in 24 days, The Panic Channel debut album, (ONe), will be out! We have been updating the site little by little preparing for the release. As soon as Rockstar wraps up, we will be hitting the road again. As soon as I have dates I will be posting them here and over at The Panic Channel site. We do have a special August 7th Hard Rock Chicago show coming up, along with appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Carson Daly, Jimmy Kimmel and CDUSA.

Last night I got together with Billy Morrison and producer Mike Clink to put some finishing touches on a Camp Freddy cover song for a movie soundtrack. For those of you new to this site, Camp Freddy is a covers only side project I am involved with featuring dozens of amazing musicians. We did a version of Cheap Trick's Surrender, with Scott Weiland, Matt Sorum and Chris Chaney. As per usual, I have no idea when that will be out, but I will for sure let you know. The film is called Employee of the Month and features Dax Shepard. You may remember him as the driver who hit the pedestrian when Carmen and I were Punk'd.

"dave this may be a rough time but you gotta know.

i was behind you with deconstruction i was behind you with one hot minute i was behind you with bad boys for life i was behind you with strays i was behind you on till death do us part i was with you when jane's fell apart. but i can't be behind you on why cry. it fuckin sucks. what happened to the music? you are all great musicians. what a waste of talent. complete fuckin sell out. tell me the producers wanted it, or made you cut out the riffs. fuckin lie to me but don't tell me you're cashing in with emo, or H.I.M or fuck my chemical romance."

- Don't lose us. I don't want to pick sides but Perry is fighting to save the music, not ride it. I understand "radio friendly" but jesus christ.

I thought music like "Why Cry" was what panic channel was going to save us from.

Where's the edge that navarro's name used to insure. Fuckin kiss isaacs or something.

A fan

Posted by: fan at July 21, 2006 11:48 AM

i guess this "fan" doesn't understand that when you put different musicians together in a band, they collectively bring their own ideas and input into the group, which can and will produce a different musical sound... or maybe this "fan" just didn't take the time to listen to any other tracks dave has played off the album... i just hate when people post angry shit like this... go back to the shrink and lie down and complain about how you hate your father... alright?

Dear Mr./Ms. Fan;

O.K., you don't like "Why Cry". So What?! That doesn't make Dave or anybody a "sellout". I've been a rock music fan for longer than I'm sure you've been alive. My first "love" was Paul McCartney, and I can assure you that I haven't liked every song he or the Beatles wrote/sang/played etc. Led Zepplin holds a special place in my heart, their music was the sound track of my high school years, but there are a good many of their works that I didn't like. I've got a Jimmy Hendrix CD in my computer at work right now that I listen to a lot, but I have it set to skip tracks 13, 16 and 19 because I don't like them. At no point during these years did I feel the need to rail against the artists because something they produced was not to my liking. I didn't then, nor do I now look to anyone to "save" us from anything. The Panic Channel will release their music next month, I will buy it, and if, by some small chance, there is a song I don't like, I'll just skip it, but I'm won't write Dave and talk to him like a dog because he hasn't completely fulfilled my expectation of him. Get a life and quit filling up blog space with your negative energy!!

Hey Dave, I was just wondering what song Camp Freddy was going to be covering for the soundtrack?

Can't wait for the album to come out. Gotta say, the anticipation is building. :) I can only imagine how amped you guys must be.

Is there a UK release date set in stone for the TPC album?

Also, how far along is the Camp Freddy album?

Posted by: Steve L at July 21, 2006 12:33 PM

Ali- He said they covered Cheap Trick's "Surrender" for the soundtrack.

Love the pic...you guys are lookin damn good! 24 days and counting. And "Fan" it might be a good idea to wait to hear the whole album instead of basing your opinions on just one song. Just a thought!

Love, Amber :)

Hot pic!!!

and fan... why did you post the same things 2x...

plus no one has to pick sides Perry or Navarro...
it's not a fight or anything...

i have Perry's solo album and will look at what he's doing and buy/not buy on whether i like it or not...

as with Dave Navarro/TPC...

Fan; I don't know what the hell your smoking but I completely disagree with you about "Why Cry" I think it's great. I like the music, the site and of course Dave; hey baby love ya! Seriously though I am new to this site and to The Panic Channel- both of which I truly appricate being turned on to because now I know that the music I love is just a click away. Furthermore; it gives poor University students like myself an avenue to check out new bands that I might other wise miss!

Thanks for the gift Dave!

Thats Rad, Employee of the Month Soundtrack. Dane Cook is supposed to be in there as well. I don't know if this has been asked before or not, but do you plan on getting up on the Rockstar stage and rocking out this year?

Posted by: eloCkraM at July 21, 2006 02:36 PM

I would love to see Dave take the stage with either Dilana or Lukas; that would rock. I want to know why the performers aren't given songs done by Mötley Crüe, Metallica or Gun's and Roses?

I realize that the guys are looking for a new sound but come on, give them something more to rock with.

Posted by: Noelle at July 21, 2006 02:48 PM

"Dave take the stage with either Dilana or Lukas"

oh, lord, fan...nightcrawler, Sir Bumps a lot, portapotty, I think we've ALL gotten it by now, have you heard any other songs than Why Cry? Have you gone to a TPC show, if not, then pour yourself a nice tall glass of shut the hell up...

although, I must say, that idea about Dave kissing Steve...not a bad visual
love,
jezzi(Hi, Dave!!)

Posted by: jezebel at July 21, 2006 03:34 PM

Jezzi and Savvy have great suggestions!!!

Love the picture, having a hard time waiting for the next 24 days to pass...And I can't decide if I wanna pre order or run down to my local record store...(used to be record but currently known as music store). Any chance of purchasing through this site or TPC's?

Seeing your boy Perk tonight in SF...and anticipating TPC's visit back to the bay...I'm boycotting live105 here...I haven't heard "Why Cry" on the radio yet and I've been requesting!!!

Have any of you kidz been hearing it in LA or elsewhere?

Have a good one...

Kisses~

Agree with many of the other comments above directed at "Fan". Some people are so quick to jump to conclusions! Wait until you've had the opportunity to listen to the entire album before forming an opinion.

One more comment on the subject which may or may not be applicable to Dave but certainly is for me. At 38 yrs old (39 in fall), my taste in music has broadened significantly. I am much more open minded and have developed an appreciation for many different genres of music. Of course, I always come back to rock but I could easily be listening to Vanessa Mae one night then listening to Deep Purple the next! Talk about one end of the spectrum to the other :-)

Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

Posted by: Bianca at July 21, 2006 03:53 PM

Enough about taking sides and all that shite (although I wouldn't say no to the Dave/Steve snogging, mwhahahaha)...

When you guys hitting up Europe, man? From what I've heard, the record will be great and I can't wait to get my hands on it :)

HAHAH!!! I LOVE fool’s wisdom! I am pissing myself , and laugh at how ignorant and egocentric your view of critique is. ‘A fan’ is simply posting an opinion… It is true- opinions are like assholes, everybody has one….haha, but hey!, you are an (empty) opinion - nothing to say, ….and saying it.. Here’s a revelation - critique is healthy…..hard to believe I know, but it’s in fact…..+ anyone with even half a brain, will always give critique pause for thought – And yes, p.s. - ‘Intelligent’ people research before forming opinions. Insulting a person for ‘sure paying attention enough to form such an opinion’ is hilarious…I am sure you'll LOVE this too, hahaha Enjoy this moment!

ok Dave, this is really irrevelant, but thought you might get a chuckle...I went to this one ring under the tent circus tongiht and one of the acts was this gorgeous woman riding a beautiful dark brown stallion. He was really strutting his stuff..a really good act. Then as they were leaving the ring, the Ringmaster says, "that was Miss So and so and her Friesian stud, Navarro!" :))

Giovanni, that's a beautiful name, but it's my ex-husbands name. Are you Italian too Giovanni?

So Dave, it's really nice that you informed the newcomers to what Camp Freddy is all about. It took me months to figure that one out. Actually I'm so brain dead that I didn't even know how to get on here and post!

I loved that Punk'd episode, too funny. I would love to be an actor on that show, I love playing pranks. Dax is great, but Jessica Simpson....Yuck!!! I did hear that she makes 35 million a year, so someone thinks she has something.

Dave,

my "Ball and Chain" and I were shocked at the cover of "in touch" magazine that you and Carmen had separated. I suppose it's a fact of life being in the public eye that you can't hide such a thing, but we wanted to let you know how sad we were. We know how real that love is, and how much it sucks when people won't leave you the fuck alone to work your own shit out, because they aren't getting enough out of their own life to be satisfied. We hope the two of you get the space you need and find the peace you need as well... :o( :o)

Posted by: cody at July 21, 2006 11:22 PM

I would have to say that all this bitching is a bit out of line. Why do you come to this site, or The Panic Channel site, or The Asylum, or wherever...and just bitch about how much you hate TPC? After Why Cry came out there's been a lot of this shit about "selling out" or how you can't stand the music TPC makes. OK, GREAT...THAT'S REALLY FUCKIN GREAT! If you don't like the music then don't fucking listen to it! Artists evolve with their music and things change. TPC isn't Jane's...there shouldn't be any comparison...so get over it. The Panic Channel is something completely different and new...oh and stop siding with either Dave or Perry or whatever like it's some big war.

Kant up there mentioned criticism and how "opinions are like assholes...everybody has one." Very true...however there's a time and place for everything. I agree that constructive criticism is both helpful and necessary, but the things that these people have been posting recently aren't any sort of constructive criticism whatsoever. It's just bullshit hate comments. That's great that these flame-jobs really want their opinion known...but no one here wants to read it, honestly.

I think it's great that Dave and TPC have these outlets for their fans to really be in touch with them. Dave really reaches out to his fans, and I think everything he does on his site and with SRL is great. Dave and Steve have recently mentioned on SRL that these hate comments on here are a little unnecessary. If you hate their music then go bitch about it with your friends or whatever...but why the fuck would you come to a site like this to bitch about it. Like I said, it'd be different if it was actually criticism instead of basically "I fucking hate you". C'mon, seriously...if you spent a lot of time and effort into something you cared deeply about...your fan sites, your music, everything, whatever...and just got a bunch of bullshit about it for no reason...wouldn't you be a little angry?

This post will probably spawn hundreds of comments on both sides of this...although I hope it doesn't...but oh well. I've been reading all this crap and I just felt like adding my 2 cents. That's what this is for, right?

Later

Hey Dave I was just interested in the fact that you deleted the last post you put on here about that lowlife journalist. I'm glad you are able to rise above that kinda shit and just let it roll of your back. The guy is an idiot obviously and as a fan that owns every JA album, One Hot Minute, Trust No One etc, I would just like to say your musical ability has touched thousands of people around the world and has made the sun shine just that little bit brighter. Critics can say whatever they want about you, or your marriage seperation but they can never take that away from you.

>haha! Dave, you haven't answered my question yet >about the lack of homies on RS-SN...
From my knowledge, he doesn't cast the show.
RS-SN threw auditions here and there and picked the from that lot for the show.

BTW, do you know Jimi's music was originally rejected by "homies" and given a hard time.
The same with Lenny Kravitz (who is one hottt man, and needs no photoshop), I saw him in person at a benefit going in and whoooooooooa nelly he is hottt. I also saw Lenny open up for The Cult years back. It was an awesome show!!!

i can only assume that this was created for me since i made the first out loud observation. i didn't ask him what was up with the glass like someone did (and i think they did it out of interest not scorn, bird) i simply stated it was odd. i find that picture to be sexy as fuck...i was only commenting on it. it doesn't look out of place, and yet it does. i do not question dave's sobriety, i have never questioned it. i understand art, dude (err..person? i can't remember your gender dearest bird) and like i said this is my favorite pic...it is already up on my myspace page. so, instead of griping at me why don't you "chill the fuck out" and if the asylum ever comes back...come join us for some healthy conversation. do you not remember how much of a dave whore (stealing your words again jezzi) i am?

DAVE--if my comment offended you i am sorry. i did not mean to offend, or cause speculation. i just like the picture. wineglass and all.

Lol has anyone else noticed that the Jane's Addiction fan base is being divided into the Perry Farrell/Satellite Party base which has www.xioal.org and the Dave Navarro/TPC base which has www.6767.com???

Just out of curiosity does anyone know who actually owns the RS Mansion? I am assuming they rent it for the show. But more importantly, what is the deal with the little beds...rofl? Are they worried that the performers may get too comfy or what?

For anyone going to todays taping, I think you're going Jezzi, anyway be careful standing out in line. I hope the line isn't as long as it was last week, as hot as it's been I wouldn't want anyone to get heat stroke!

About that article I missed, it said Dave looks like a demon? Well due to that info I cancelled my exorcism, because if all demons look like Dave, I don't mind being possessed!! It was going to take too long anyway, 666 minutes.
