Spread Radio Live Event ~ Historical Fact
Last night was totally amazing! Our first Spread Radio Live Event is now behind us and it is time to start planning another one. Thanx to all of our Asylum Members who came out last night, it's always great to see you guys front and center claiming your usual piece of property. It makes all the difference in the world to us. The Dragonfly was packed last night and the energy was running on super high. KHZ came out first and just KILLED it. I knew their music and I knew them as people but I had never seen them live before and all I can say is that the band is amazingly tight while Raiana is the complete package with incredible vocal chops and a slithering sexuality that is just riveting to watch. They opened with Let It Go, which has got to be toughest on the voice and she nailed it. I think I said something like, the band made me want to punch someone in the face and fuck at the same time. (it's kind of a blur, but if I did say that, it was accurate.) KHZ are for sure the ones to watch this year.
Next out was Killola and Lisa is a complete maniac on stage. She kind of makes insanity look like the way to go if you want to have sex appeal and charisma, but when it comes down to it, you know she is pretty much the only one who can pull it off. She has a really infectious voice with a style that makes you either want to take her home to mother or take her to a strip club and a gleam in her eye that lets you know that either would be OK. The rest of the band sounded incredible and they brought it hard core. Catchy songs, hot singer, great band. Why these guys aren't already HUGE stars remains a mystery to me, but we are working on it, aren't we?
Both bands were gracious enough to say a little something thanking Spread Radio Live but the truth of the matter is that without them, we would be nothing. I would like to personally thank KHZ, who flew out from NYC, and Killola for making last night a magical experience and for helping me believe what I already suspected...that we CAN take it back and create the musical community I once knew and loved when we were coming up back in the day. Thanx to everyone who came down to support the music, the station and celebrate creativity, art, entertainment and the joy of the live performance. Once again, thanx to Loop, Ro, Riss, Anthony, BCE, TPC, Killola, KHZ, Live 365, Billy Morrison for the radio shout outs and everyone all up in the house. It's time to get another one of these bitches off the ground in a few months. Can't fuckin wait!
Happy Father's Day!!! I'm off to hang with my Dad.

Dave, the limo never showed, Damnit! Punch someone in the face and fuck, I hope not at the same time!
My roomate's friend, who is in the music business, said that The Panic Channel will be touring with The Chilli Peppers. I don't remember Dave saying anything about that, but I have not been able to hear all his podcasts. Someone here posted a comment in reference to that, but I can't find it. So does anyone know if that is true?

The show WAS amazing last night, all of it. I hadn't heard much of KHZ or Killola but they were both so tight on stage. It's always great to check out new music, even better when it's right in your face.
It was nice talking to you (still LOVING those shoes, by the way) and congratulations on an amazing show. Everyone had a great time.
You definitely have to do it again. :)

Thanks for an awesome show! I flew in from Denver, just for the show, and it was spectacular... well worth the quick weekend trip.
I've rocked out to KHZ and Killola on SRL, but I've gained a new appreciation for the bands after seeing them live -- wow, those girls really know how to front a band!
And, of course, TPC was stellar! What a fantastic night. And a special side note, I finally met some of my fellow Asylum chics and rocked out the front row w/ them. I couldn't have asked for a better night.

Soooo sorry I missed this, but being on the East Coast, well...
But if I couldn't be there, being at Night Two of my NIN shows (and Jones Beach) was a great consolation! BEST show of the 5 I've seen this tour.
DANIEL ASH was amazing--reviews of NIN/Bauhaus for both nights will be up at the asylum soon.
Only 16 days till rockstar, right?
Posted by: Sue at June 19, 2006 08:46 AM
^^^ Hi Sue. :) That WAS a great show, wasn't it? Dancing/rocking our as*es off to NIN under the stars... Doesn't get much better than that!
Except for the SRL show, of course. Thanks, Dave, for that wonderful review. After that description (and hot pic), I can only imagine how awesome the actual show was.
Linda - Your guess about TPC touring w/ RHCP is as good as mine... But that would be pretty freakin' great.
Gotta run for now, but have a great day, everyone.
Cheers/hugs,

Linda, that would be awesome, but I have tickets for RHCP in October, and The Mars Volta are opening. What exactly did your friend say?
***DAVE***
How is Tommy Lee going to tour with Motley Crue AND do Supernova? What, does the think he's a Navarro or something with the multitasking? Just got word that the Crue starts touring w/Aerosmith in early September, they're here in NY Sept 19...

Sue, I asked my roomate what exactly her friend told her. She said her friend Leo, who is a lighting engineer, mentioned Dave touring with RHCP, but didn't mention The Panic Channel. I wasn't there, or I would've quizzed him further on that rumor.
Motley Crue and Aerosmith, that's a hot combination! My son and I saw the Crue in Pittsburgh way back in 1984. I have seen Aerosmith in concert at least five times. They are amazing, and they're my age! Sad but true, (Isn't that a Metallica song)? I'm glad to hear Steve's throat is better. I have to tell my friend Val. She's crazy over Joe Perry like I'm crazy over Dave!
Posted by: Linda at June 19, 2006 07:24 PM
just saying SAVAGE ANIMAL gets some fucking stress out! I love that shit!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks Baz, and by the way, Doc McGhee is a complete asshole to him! very rude, mean, and condisen... (awe, hell I can't spell the word, but u get it) so Baz was like broke cuz of him and then on the show sweet Baz gets high on wine and starts kissing McDick's ass and he just shit all over him! SO FUCKING HOLLYWOOD MAN!!!! Baz, please don't kiss his filthy ass anymore, he robbed you and one can just see it in his eyes that he knows and doesn't respect YOU for his thieving ass doings!
Peace and Goodnight!

"Rock Star: Supernova," CBS, 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5. Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke are the hosts as the newly cobbled-together band Supernova (Tommy Lee of Motley Cure, Jason Newsted of Metallica and Gilby Clarke of Guns N' Roses) search for a fourth member among 16 contenders.
