All New CFR

Billy and I will be in for an all new Camp Freddy Radio tonight at 6pm-8pm PST on Indie 103.1 FM. Our special guest tonight, Inger Lorre from The Nymphs. She will be in the studio playing some new recorded tracks as well as a live in studio acoustic performance.

Camp Freddy Podcast

Carmen, Gregg and I went to Rokbar last night and had a blast. The highlight of the night was when I was approached by a guy who simply said, "Lovin the Spread Radio Live dude!" We are getting it out there folks. Thanx for the support and help in Spreading the word!

Now that the Rockstar news is out, there isn't really much left to comment on until the show airs. However, today is a good day to throw out a sweet Sunday 10. I can answer your queries tomorrow as I am trying to get back into the habit of doing that.

Also, don't forget, the chat room is now 24 hours and requires no password. Feel free to use it during the show or at any time you desire.

Hey! I bet it's always good to hear fans of SRL coming up and saying that they love it. It must make you feel all good inside! :) That's awesome man.

I have a question though, perhaps for the Sunday 10. :)

When you did the song "Very Little Daylight" for your solo album, how did you get the sound right at the end of the song after the last set of lyics? What kind of guitar/effect was it?

Be Well, and have a great day!
~Shannon~

Dave, do you think you'll ever do an album that isn't "rock," or did you find your niche, and that's it? Not that you don't evolve...

but I mean, would it be stupid to hope you'd do the soundtrack to a Tim Burton movie or something? hahaha, you know, take a BIG left turn...

Posted by: Max at March 18, 2006 11:58 AM

You are such a busy and creative person. Do you ever feel drained of energy and creativity and hit a slump. If so how do you get out it? You always seem to be so up!! I need some of your energy!

Posted by: Michelle at March 18, 2006 12:36 PM

I meant to ask "how do you get out of it"

Posted by: Michelle at March 18, 2006 12:37 PM

How many "Trust No One" albums were sold?

Hey Dave-- how about Panic Channel hooking up with Alice In Chains for a tour this summer? Not sure if the schedules will work for that one but DAMN that would be cool.

Nice! Sunday 10 :) Here are a couple for consideration...
~What is going to be different for you as an exec producer on this years Rockstar?

~Have you seen Johnny Depp's new movie "The Libertine" yet? What did ya think? If not I highly recommend it to any Johnny fan...great performance (as usual) and a very dark, sad yet enlightening story. Im predicting an Oscar nom for Mr Depp...

Thats all I can think of right now. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

~Amber :)

Dave -

My friend and I are thinking of hitting Rokbar next Friday night. Do we need to be on some sort of list or will we be waiting in a crazy line?

Posted by: erin at March 18, 2006 03:42 PM

Hello Dave!

You've always struck me as being a bit agoraphobic...but lately you seem like a social butterfly...do you have to really make an effort to get out and about or do your moods just vary?

Have a great time on CFR...can't wait to hear it...we miss you when you're gone!

Dvae, do you apply your own make up (eye liner, etc) or do you have someone for that now? If you take the d.i.y. approach, how long did it take you to get good at it?!

D-

So how are your guys choosing cities and clubs for the near future TPC tour - is it by previous tour experience likes, or do you have someone scouting around for cool clubs? Also, are you aiming for the size of the Dragonfly, because that was intimate.

-Al (Detroit - hint-hint)

Posted by: Al at March 18, 2006 06:08 PM

Your new role as a producer-how did that come about exactly? Did you approach Burnett or did he approach you? Is it something you fought for?

Will we be seeing more or less of you this year on the show actually playing the guitar?

Will your role change this year as in less time spent with the contestants?

I believe Cantrell said they were approached about being the band this year and declined. Can you tell us how many other scenarios were discussed for this year's show or who else was approached before settling on this one?

What input did you have personally have with Burnett on the musicians chosen for the line up?

I know Butch spent NYE with Tommy. Was Butch's future involvement something Tommy specifically requested as a condition of doing the show?

You wore a 6767 shirt on the show last year. Will you sport a TPC shirt this year? Will you mention the upcoming release on RS or is there a provision allowing for some cross promotion? Will Isaacs make any appearances? I'm just saying...

Speaking of TPC shirts, do you foresee we'll be able to buy TPC merch before or during the mini-tour online and if so, other than shirts, do you know if those badass belt buckles are coming back or whatever else merch there'll be?

The upcoming mini-tour-I assume someone's going to be filming all shows for any future DVD releases, correct?

Any thoughts for opening bands for this tour? Are you working on trying to work in some dates with already touring acts, either as openers or closers? Have you began corresponding with other major acts to check their touring schedules after the show's run to line up either festivals or double bills?

Has the first single been chosen yet and how will it be released? Will you be trying to get at least one tune released in a mass format, like itunes or radio air play prior to this short tour?

Are you actively writing new songs for the NEXT TPC release after the first one or are there parts of songs that you wish to develop later tucked away?

Do you ever foresee Rockstar being a kind of Battle of the Bands show, similar to the Spread concept, where the viewing public decides a best unsigned band as opposed to individuals, along with your input?

TPC videos-have there been discussions as to which one HAS to be first and concepts for them yet? Will you use only SAG folks or, here's a suggestion, use longstanding OLDSCHOOL fans in maybe some of them? :)

Other than those, I got nothing.

Oh, one more. Dude, where's your car?

Dave, I have been looking into getting a flat iron and I remember reading here a while ago that you use one and I was wondering which one you use. Thanks

Posted by: Jim at March 18, 2006 08:33 PM

Jim Get a Chi Flat Iron.

Or ANYTHING in that price range for a relatively GOOD ONE.

Otherwise just about ANYTHING in ANY store will do.

Dave I have this issue with a friend. He AUCTUALLY believes I am claiming to be somenone I am not cause I have no pictures to show him. Not my fault, I AM PRETTY POOR right now and Can't afford a scanner. In the end he left me all hung up on AIM. I don't know what to do.............

Sure we will work it out tho as HE is one of the most AMAZING PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET.

Total role model standing next to ya.Sometimes I feel you should say fuck more on tv and less in spread radio. Word is tossed out TOO much.

Posted by: Fabian at March 18, 2006 09:06 PM

the greatest janes will be released like april 18th or something (in oklahoma at least) i was at the cd store the other day and saw it posted..the sales clerk had to say something twice because i was lost in jane's speculation thoughts.

how about it DAVE? this question has been asked and if you replied i must have missed it. what are your thoughts on the upcoming jane's greatest hits? did you have anything to do with it (i.e. helping to pick out the songs, etc?)

Posted by: heather at March 18, 2006 09:25 PM

Hey guys. Can someone tell me if Jane's Addiction ever had a major hit? Or even some minor ones? This is not a facetious question. I'd like to check them out if there's something I missed.

Posted by: Lurker at March 18, 2006 09:25 PM

Here's another one, Dave!

Could you reveal anything about the way you go about learning other artists' songs?
Like when you're playing with Camp Freddy or the recent VH1 show with Heart... There are many learning styles, it would be rad to get your two cents on the matter.

Posted by: Spencer at March 18, 2006 09:36 PM

And if you guys don't mind, I'd prefer you didn't just recommend the CD 'Rexall' or whatever it's called. The good ones from their career, if you're up to it! I wanna listen to some classic Dave stuff. And this seems like the right place to ask!

hey dave, i want to know if the Panic channel album will be release in Australia? and if you guy will be touring over here?

Posted by: dougy at March 19, 2006 03:01 AM

Hello Panic community,

Wow, this site is lookin quite slick Dave! I tried the chat room, seeing how I am a bit of an insomniac tonight (there are reasons...) *cough* Anyway, it's good to get online and read stuff and see that rockers (old, new, and in between) are still rockin! Woohoo!

The strangest set of coincidences happened over the past few weeks. I felt compelled to go online to the Chili Peppers site, then for some odd reason, that motivated me to go out and buy a copy of The Scorpions greatest hits and I was thinking the whole time that they were the ones who did the song, Fire Woman.. I know, I know, SHAME ON ME!! So I researched and found out that it was THE CULT who did Fire Womam. Well, off I go to buy their music (Pure Cult, the only one in the store..truthfully, the stuff is rare), then I go online to research THE CULT'S history/biographies and to my EXQUISITE DELIGHT I find out they reunited for a tour! How cool is that? Also, ALSO! .. my town was on their upcoming schedule!! Unfortunately the venue was sold out, but that didn't stop me from hanging around some.. and OH MY GAWD! THE CULT set my town on fire baby!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can honestly say that the vibes/ambiance/atmosphere they brought was PURE ROCK MAYHEM!! I haven't felt a buzz like that since Page/Plant reunited for the No Quarter tour back in 1995. Soooo very special.. Anyway, sorry to go on a tangent here.. but just wanted to clue in any Panic Community members as to what's ON FIRE OUT THERE! People, check them out!!!!!!!!! You won't need drugs when you experience this band...OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez...the more you deny there's trouble, the more stories pop up saying there is. Two more stores out there today...one, quite comical actually, is Navarro Goes Ballistic...roflmao!!!

I cannot even imagine trying to cope will all of that and sustain a relationship...my hat goes off to you both.

Dave-Whatever happened with that guy that called into CFR and said he was the one that took something of yours-he apologized and said he'd return it..or something..what ever happened with that situation?

Posted by: Diane/FRI13th at March 19, 2006 07:17 AM

Dave, in the previous post, the numbers on the wheel are upside down. Is this a hidden message to the press that your life is turned topsy turvy, that your life is unmanageable, that the pressures of being an entertainer are taking too much of a toll? Sorry, just lapsed into a "media" personality there for a sec, lol. Hey, to the scumsucking bottom feeding sharks of journalism out there, did you get the release that was leaked? You know, that one?

Ha, DEEEEEEEEEZ NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTS!

Posted by: Lyn at March 19, 2006 09:01 AM

Good morning Dave, good morning family..

Dave, I heard you and Gregg on SRL the other night talking about the difficulty of fans getting to see a Camp Freddy show unless there is a tragedy...funny stuff, by the way. What do you think of the idea of CORE members donating a few of the guest tickets that they get for each event? The tickets could be sold on your Shop 13, and the proceeds could go to a charity of your choice?
Just a thought, because I am still guilt-ridden over sneaking in to the House of Blues gig last summer...

love to all!
