Good Morning

Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. I've been working on the record and getting ready for New York next week where we will do our mastering for the finished album. I honestly couldn't be happier with it. At the last minute, I talked everyone into retracking Blue Bruises. The mix we had just wasn't up to the sonic level of the rest of the record. We went into the studio and recorded it from scratch and I can tell you that I am very happy we did. It sounds like us now. All that remains is one guitar fix and a few fine toothed comb listen throughs and we should be mixing it by Saturday. We now find ourselves in the position of having too much material for the record and needing to decide what stays and what goes by mastering as well as sequencing which is an art unto itself. I know that this record seems like it has taken forever, and in some ways it feels like it has, but I really feel that we needed to go through this process and become a band by taking our time, building personal and musical relationships, dealing with dramas coming out the other side.

New on Spread Radio Live: We will soon be accepting submissions for Indie artist of the month. Please do not send us mp3s, but a link to the band's music site. We will choose 5 artists every month from your submissions and each band will have their own "area" on SRL. SRL users will vote which artist will win the top spot to be featured on SRL's main page. The winner will be exposed to everyone who visits our website, as well as become featured for the month.

Once a band is chosen they will be notified by e-mail with a link to access our Indie section along with a user name and password. The band can log in, fill out the information and upload 3 mp3's to be streamed on the band page.

Wow. You guys are in the home stretch now. That must be a great feeling. Best of luck in these final stages. I'm sure it will come out incredible.

NY, eh? Cool. Ya know... While you guys are there, if you get tired of the same old meals at Nobu, Le Cirque, etc., you're more than welcome to come out and hang at our crib. I'll start the food-shopping now. LOL

Cheers,

Dave,

Glad to read that the record has come out so well for you, Steve, Chris, and Perk. From what you've played on SRL occasionally, it sounds incredible and has so much personality to it. Between reading what you and Steve wrote about it, would I be wrong in saying this record most reflects a combo of each of your individual personalities than anything else you've done?

Have fun in NYC dude!

Any upcoming Camp Freddy shows?

The unsigned featured artist idea sounds pretty sweet. Of course I'm biased, because I am one. I'm looking forward to the show on Thursday.

Thank you!! I feel like a junkie who's gone too long without a fix, not that I would KNOW about that. (wink)

Now, can someone tell a musical idiot what is entailed in 'mastering'? I just recently figured out what tracking and mixing meant....HELP!!!

New Yorkers, be on the lookout for unexpected Dave sightings next week!!! East Coast representin'!!!

love,
jezzi(too much Dave is never enough!)

Hey Dave, I think that's a great idea, choosing 5 Indie bands each month! It helps that band get noticed too! Congradulations about the record too! I can't wait to hear it!

And I have to say...I LOVE THAT GUITAR!!! IT'S BEAUTIFUL!! (The Spread one of course, lol ) I would make sweet music with that guitar, LOL. :)

Be well, and have a good day!

Hey Dave, 'sup?
Can't you just fill the whole cd with songs till it's full
Much like Soundgarden did on Superunknown
78 min. long I think? Just a question
Where are you mixing? My band's been at Chung King the past weekend's recording. Take it easy!

The new/unsigned band promotion - wow - really impressed that an established artist will go so far out of their way to give a hand to an unsigned band. Bet there aren't many that would do that.

Too many songs - how about a double album? Who here wouldn't take a double hit of TPC?

Jezi - just read your posts on the previous threads - LOL! I now have an image of everyone here leaning out of their windows shouting "Dave?" *grin*

Great to hear from you Dave!

We miss you when you leave us alone for more than a day. What do you have, a life or something?

When you go to NY, will it be to the Big Apple? How long will you be there? I just wondered what a time frame for what you are doing would take.

So, do we have a tentative release date? Any chance those of us here can get them earlier? What about buying signed copies here????? Could use the money for charity or something....

What do you think?

Always,
me

Denise, I second that--we can throw a dinner party with the guys as guest of honor! :)

Dave--any chance there would be a tiny window for a little live stuff for those of us in NY who were never lucky enough to make it all the way out to LA for your TPC shows last time? I have all the equipment you need in our music room in the basement...or I know that Irving Plaza is free a couple of nights, or maybe the Knitting Factory...

Have a great day everyone,
Love,
Sue

Can't wait to hear it, love..I'm really looking forward to the album, but I do miss your commentary. I'll be listening tonight. Rock on, baby.

Hey, the "contest" sounds like a great idea!
There are so many talented people waiting to be exposed.

It's be sort of like RockStar:6767!!!

Hey Dave:

Welcome Back! Just wondering how you liked Utah. Did you have time to ski that awesome powder?

Posted by: Scott at February 2, 2006 11:02 AM

Dave

Did you design that Dean as well? It looks like Darrell's model but with the Spread logo on it? I know Dean was supposed to be making something like that where other guitar players did art work and stuff for the Dime models like as a tribute or whatever...

Either way looks pretty sweet.

In the home stretch for the album now. Looking foreward to late spring / early summer.
