Rain
Morning! New Year, 2006... Day 2... Monday. We had an awesome evening on the 31st, went to bring in the new year at Sharon and Ozzy's house with the Morrisons and Billy Duffy and his girl Jennifer. It was really a great time and they literally live within 5 minutes from our place, so it was simple fun and easy. The way things should be on NYE. The1st also marked four years off the drinks and drugs for me. It was really special to celebrate that with my wife and good friends. Today, it is raining hard here... You know I love that. "I love the rain, it washes memories off the sidewalks of life." (I know, I always quote that Woody Allen line from Play It Again, Sam.) Today is all about the gym, possibly radio and relaxation with our new puppy Kiko. Speaking of radio, there are some new shows loaded in the Spread Radio Archives thanx to Robert and Chase. Also, the NYE Camp Freddy Radio show is now loaded in the Podcast section of 6767.com. It almost sounds "live".
Later this month, I am going to Sundance for Indie to do a bunch of interviews with actors, musicians and movie people. I have never been so I am looking forward to a little snow ... scarf and parka weather. Possibly a film or two. It'll be two days of Sundance coverage. I'll keep you posted as to when this goes down. Also, we FINALLY got a digital camera, so I can get some pictures up soon of Kiko and many other wonderful things. That reminds me, I better get to steppin on the scans for the photobooth show in March. I think January will be all about getting that together and mixing The Panic Channel album. After the record is mixed, we have plans to release a track straight to you all... Before the "official" single release.

Hi everyone - Happy New Year. Just got back from 10 days away with my family for Christmas (and it's DAMN good to be home!) and I get to be first!! Cool - I feel right at home again ;-)
I'm off to spend the next few hours catching up on everything I missed over the last 2 weeks - it's either that or unpack and who needs to spend time unpacking?!!?

North American Native Americans believe that walking in the rain washes the spirit clean...
I like that Woody Allen line as well... Cause either way, a walk in the rain feels mighty refreshing...

Evening David,
With all the records that you have made in a band and solo situation, what is your stance on hidden tracks? According to my recollection, none of the records you have made have included hidden tracks, unless you count the intro to ain't no right. What was the first hidden track you had found on your own accord and how did it make you feel?
Posted by: mmmbop at January 3, 2006 04:53 AM
"Everytime a woman masturbates, God gives the world a puppy"
I never heard that one before either, but thanks for mentioning it, all this time I thought I was doing it for my own pleasure, turns out others were benefiting too.

Good morning Dave,
I was saddened to learn that Aron's Records in Hollywood is closing after 40 years, citing declining album sales. At the same time, the market for music downloads rose 150 percent last year.
Do you see revenue from TPC's upcoming release coming more from iTunes downloads of single tracks versus traditional CD sales?
Do you believe, as many market forecasters predict, that CDS will go the way of the 8track in the next five years?
I'm a purist, I still want my album cover,my lyric sheet, and my fadeins to the next track, how bout the rest of my family...?
love,
jezzi(hanging on to my beta tapes)

Allow me to be the upteenth person to congratulate you on 4 years of sobriety. It is an awsome achievement. As a Mental Health and Substance Abuse therapist I'm curious...what was it that worked for you? Was it therapy with the right person (or continuing therapy with the right person)? the right program? Did you have an epiphany (an "ahhaa!" moment)? was it a combination? I realize it is a process that is never really "over", but how were you able to stop white-knuckling it?
Mucho amor Loco, and feliz ano nuevo:

"that CDS will go the way of the 8track in the next five years?
I'm a purist, I still want my album cover,my lyric sheet, and my fadeins to the next track, how bout the rest of my family...?"
...jezzi...i do not like all the modern stuff...as i have said before (which nobody answered, sniff j/k) is that i really don't understand the whole point of an mp3 player. or really the point of mp3s. ipod, etc...what is the big deal? yes, music, music, music, i get that. but at my job we can listen to the radio in the background, so i have music there, i live in my car and have lots of music there, and when i am home i can listen to whatever. so do i need to have a ipod so i can listen to music?? no. is a ipod good for anything else? lostboy, help me out...you recently lost yours...what is the big damn deal about mp3 players?!!?
okay jezzi...got a little distracted there. no, i will still buy cds. i don't order music from the internet (unless it is cds from amazon) and never will. and i actually still have some records and know several people who still prefer vinyl over anything else.
welcome back miffy, we have missed you.
DAVE- i usually do not like to say the same things that everyone else has..but the four year accomplishment is worth it. CONGRATULATIONS! i hope that you look back at your life, and remember everything and are proud of who you are and have become. as you once told me (when you answered my question)everything that you did in your past created the person you are today. and that person is someone to be very proud of. you are an inspiration. ps. that picture that you have up in myspace is very sexy.

Posted by: Axel Hoe at January 4, 2006 12:58 AM
That puppy is SOOOOO cute - and the puppy dog eyes alongside aren't too bad either - so whatever woman "made" that one must have been having a real good time ;-)
"Darn it Miffy - You didn't tell me the "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours" thing got you into some kind of trouble. I'm sorry, my bad. If it helps I'm willing to delete yours, if you're willing to delete mine. And we never have to mention it again."
LB - I think it only fair that the whole 6767 family should know that, if I'm not mistaken, I showed you mine and you chickened out and never sent me yours *flaps wings and makes chicken noises* I was promised naked with tail in the air and the guy just never delivered *sigh*
Heather - thanks for the welcome back. As for the whole Ipod debate - I download the odd track from t'internet when there is one song I like but don't want the whole album but generally I still buy the CD because I also like the whole art work/lyrics etc thing but I then upload to the pod - I can get music most places but that thing is a godsend when I am in the gym - the music there is very much dependant on who is working and without taking my own music there is the risk of spending an hour trying to work out to Westlife *shudder* Plus the CFR podcasts make the treadmill so much easier - although it is difficult not to fall off when laughing!
Still trying to catch up on the last 2 weeks of posts - but the squeegy thing - wow - with recessed lighting? That's just wrong in so many ways ....

Miffy !!!
I showed you MINE, way before you showed me YOURS. And if I'm not mistaken, you made some rude comment about me having a furry tail. Now I have inadequacy issues. It's a possibility, I could be in therapy for years.
Heather
You need a iPod for when you're off in a corner by yourself singing and dancing. People won't look at you so strange. They'll still talk about you behind your back though. But that's only because they're jealous they can't dance.
BTW Dean gave me a brand new shiny iPod for Christmas, with all the bells and whistles. But he took it home with him, so he could replace all my lost music. Lets hope he doesn't take this one for a little swim too.
and Miffy
I know it was you who turned hippies loose in my mailbox. Just admit it and I won't say another word. They're all giggling stoners. They want Fig Newtons and Oreos, and they've formed a drum circle. I'm going to have to call in a exterminator. Or Cartman.
Dave
Does Miffy put hippies and pudding in your inbox? Or is it just me?
and Dave
FYI Don't let Miffy talk you into sending her any naked pictures. She just points and laughs.
