Quick Update

I just got home from Sundance. For the first few days it was a lot of fun, but it got old fast. There was a poker tournament which I played fairly well in, got to the last two tables and outlasted my old friend Phil Gordon. That's kind of all I needed to do. The next two days were full of Indie on location interviews with actors, artists and directors. That was the highlight for me as I am such a huge fan of the screen. I am glad to be back. Tomorrow Gregg and I will be doing a much overdue Spread Radio Live from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

hey, isn't that Kevin Smith...hahahahhahaha
I don't care who Dave is sitting with, I'm looking at those 'come kiss me' lips, and the suicide girls shirt he's sporting...

so, Dave, new SRL tomorrow, about frickin' frackin' time...does that mean you won't be coming to San Berdoo to see Marty and the Lovehammers open for JD, there was a pic of INXS in the local papers, Tim Fariss was SO striking the Dave Navarro signature pose, hands folded as if in prayer, did you teach him that...

Welcome back, I'm with Lyn, I wanna hear about the SWAG!!!

jezzi(Silent Bob strikes out...at poker..)

Posted by: jezebel at January 25, 2006 01:12 PM

Hey -
Films and poker... sounds fun. Glad that you had just the right amount of the things you love. I'm sure the interviews were hilarious and interesting. Hopefully they will make their way onto here...

This here chick has some serious SRL catching up to do, once things ease up. That will be nice.

I did catch the latter part of a rerun of Carmen's first electronica show last night. (For a moment, I thought I'd clicked on the wrong station!) The groovy music and banter was cool, lots of fun to listen to. Count me in as a fan.

Be well, all! Talk to you soon...

Posted by: Jon at January 25, 2006 05:17 PM

Congrats on doing so well in poker. Glad to hear you had a good time playing.

I can only imagine how much fun the interviews were for you. I would have to agree with you, that would have probably been my favorite part of the trip also.

I'm looking forward to SRL tomorrow night. :o)

Welcome back Dave. Glad you had a safe trip there and back. I'm sure Carmen and the puppies were happy to have you back home.

Hugs,
Jackie

hi dave,
loved your interviews while you were at sundance. they really got me through what seemed like a never-ending work day.

i saw someone mention marty casey in a previous post, but i have a question regarding jordis. does she ever play locally in l.a.? i'd love hear her sing sometime.

Posted by: alisa at January 25, 2006 06:10 PM

I am curious about Jordis too. What is she up to? (If you know) I think she is really cool and I would love to hear her sing as well, although I don't live in LA- I live in Colorado.

Posted by: ylais at January 25, 2006 11:20 PM

Jezi - no need to choose honey - catch INXS live and SRL on archive - best of both worlds ;-) (ok - not quite as good as Dave live but not a bad substitute?)

"I'm looking at those 'come kiss me' lips"

Hmmm - they go well with the 'come frick me eyes' *grin*

Posted by: Miffy at January 26, 2006 01:29 AM

Dave, again a nice picture!

Beating Phil - wow!!!

So Dave, who do you think will win the superbowl??? And please don't answer "The one with the most points."

You know The Bus was on CPS and we LOVE The Bus!

Always,
me

Posted by: Angel at January 26, 2006 03:09 AM

oh yeah, Angel, that's right, the Bus was also on one of first seasons of Punk'd, we need to do a special edition of Six Degrees of Dave Navarro!!

Good idea, Miffy, now the dilemna is INXS or Billy Morrison, I hear he is going to be at On the Rox at the Roxy on Friday...someone, anyone, come with me!!!

ok, off I go tonight to brave the denizens of San Bernardino and Indian gaming establishments, front row center tix went for 500 bucks on ebay last week, hoping someone will be a little more generous and sell me a last minute ticket for under 50...a girl can dream, can't she?

Dave I am not sure if you are busy in early March, but I read on Yahoo today that there will be BigFoot Expedition/Search in California. The official announcement from the BigFoot Research Organization:

http://www.bfro.net/news/roundup/exped_next.asp

I might take a pass on this one myself but thought you might be interested. Maybe an SRL field reporter could attend?

Posted by: Schwing at January 26, 2006 07:23 AM

Hey Dave!

I've been a bit out of the loop lately and just saw the pic of your beautiful pup Kiko. Totally heartwarming, and oh so cute :) I have an 8 months old Bichon Frisè pup, she looked just like that when she was little. So when are you going to share stories about the pup and the naughty things I'm sure she does? Hmm? I'm sure you have a few in store, puppies are always little pranksters (my puppy's a clepto, she'll steal anything from cell phones to garbage :)

So may we please have some puppy talk, Dave? When did you get her, was she a Christmas gift? How's Daisy talking her arrival? What breed is she? (I'd say Bichon, but I've seen a Bichon-lookalike Maltese, so please give us the scoop)

Glad to hear you're doing well, Dave!

They've called off that Bigfoot Expedition Search. Yep, they've already found him. He's got surprisingly nice teeth though.

Hey Dave--
This little tidbit was in today's NY Daily News:

"Dave Navarro had the cojones to sit at rival rocker Tommy Lee's VIP table while Lee was deejaying at the Thrive/Benderspink bash at Cain's Sundance outpost. A member of Lee's entourage physically ejected Navarro, hissing, "You're always trying to steal Tommy's thunder." Leaving with pal Jack Osbourne, Navarro shot back, "I am just sick of this bull-!" ."

What's the deal?

Posted by: Malatete at January 27, 2006 10:44 AM

While not answering for Dave, I can take a guess. It was probably some bs misunderstanding that didn't amount to a hill of beans that some "reporter" wanted to get a "sundance scoop" on and was running dry and low on material for their deadline. Whoever said that was probably joking anyway. Some "rivals" they are, being business partners and all, lol.

Posted by: Lyn at January 27, 2006 11:54 AM

Ooo, Dave- is this news-story the one you made a quick reference to in one of the interviews about almost getting thrown out of somewhere? Enquiring Minds want to know, son. ;)

Some sweet news on Ms. Suzie McNeil!:

http://johnkalodner.com/Home.htm
NOTE FROM JDK:
Last summer I saw Suzie McNeil on Rockstar, and I thought she was a great singer and performer. After the show was over, I had a chance to meet her and saw from my first Starbucks with her that she was a big star.

I am excited to announce that starting Tuesday, January 24th, 2006, I will be A&Ring a record for her recording debut. Marti Frederiksen will be producing and Irving Azoff & John Baruck will manage her career. I couldn’t think of a more perfect team.

So, as I started in the music business in 1972 with great excitement, my final project will be just as exciting, artistic and joyful as I began my career. What a perfect ending. . .

Hi Dave. It's a beautiful day here in NJ. Hope it is there as well. Please cough up the info on the puppy next time you answer questions, k? I really must know! My cat is nearing the end of his life and he is such a sweet little baby, and so much like a dog that there is no way I could ever get another cat. None would come close to being as cool as the Boogster. No fucking chance. So I have to get a dog for my next pet (I always was a dog person anyway -- sorta ended up with Boog by accident). I'd like to get something small enough that I can bring it to my mom's house at the shore without her freaking out. That's why I need the info on that adorable puppy you just got. Thanks!

Denise, I just have to say how much you rule. You have such a nice way about you. Your posts are like a ray of sunlight. I always look for you on here.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

RockStar-Led Zeppelin would be pretty cool. I wonder if Robert Plant can still hit those high notes.

Posted by: LostBoy at January 28, 2006 01:03 PM

oh, but you know neither one of those will happen, cause all three networks seem to be pandering to the Lohan/Hilton demographic...so my Rockstar:Spice Girls idea probably got more serious thought..hahah

I'm hoping it's a whole band this time, maybe to back up Jordis!!

hey, Dave, how are ya!!

You're right Jezzi
RockStar-Led Zeppelin really is too much to hope for. 8-(

Posted by: LostBoy at January 28, 2006 02:12 PM

Don't know why but I just thought of RockStar: Skunk Anansie! (although I can't imagine them without Skin)

Come to think of it - I'm thinking any band where the member being replaced is still alive could make that person pretty pissed off!

Dave - Question for the Sunday 10 - when is the official announcement of the concept for this season of Rockstar going to be made?

Posted by: Miffy at January 28, 2006 03:44 PM

Dave, Random question. What was your take on Shannon Hoon? Did you like Blind Melon? I always thought the album, "Soup" was super underrated. Just curious if you were into it or not. Aloha, Rod B, Kailua, HI

Posted by: Rod B at January 29, 2006 02:43 PM

So I was reading the new Spin w/the Strokes on it and there is the first article I have read concerning all the SGirls claims of abuse, lawsuits, etc. Also, Pamela's book, "I'm With The Band" reissue is in there, too. Well FUCK Spin as they refer to our beloved in a less than kind manner. By the way Spin, if u are reading this, Dave is a wonderful human being, and u so could have used a much nice adj. to describe his forward in the book. Spin sucks. I always felt like they were lesser than Stone, and now I have proof. Cy'all. tweet mother efing tweet!
