Quick Update
I just got home from Sundance. For the first few days it was a lot of fun, but it got old fast. There was a poker tournament which I played fairly well in, got to the last two tables and outlasted my old friend Phil Gordon. That's kind of all I needed to do. The next two days were full of Indie on location interviews with actors, artists and directors. That was the highlight for me as I am such a huge fan of the screen. I am glad to be back. Tomorrow Gregg and I will be doing a much overdue Spread Radio Live from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

Sundance
I'm going out to Sundance today to conduct two days of radio interviews for Indie 103.1FM. I'm gonna be the "on location guy" out there for the station, probably because I'm the only one willing to deal with the cold! I'm not sure on the times that these will air, more than likely around 3:00pm PST. I'm also taking part in a poker tournament tonight, so it's kind of a vacation of sorts. The mixes are sounding killer and we should be done with everything by tomorrow night. I had a quick in and out day at NAMM yesterday and visited the PRS, Yamaha and Roland booths. I ran into a few 67's and SRL listeners which was awesome, but I had to cut my day short as I was due back in the studio to work on Left To Lose. As it stands, all that is left to mix is Blue Bruises and Lie Next To Me. I don't like not being there for mixes, but I have faith in Steve and Ryan. They know what they are doing.

Spread Radio Live Player
New on Spread Radio Live: Robert and I have just launched the new SRL Player, complete with your choice of three different themes. Here is a tip. Right now the player is a pop up when you access the site, so if you have your pop up windows disabled in your browser's preferences, you may need to enable them. We also have a seperate link for the player as an option right here. Of course, all the other players are still available if you'd rather go that route. (iTunes, WMP, RP)

I am a Suicide Girl!
Good morning. So the mixing is going great. We finished Outsider and tonight is all about Night One. At the consol mixing the record is Ryan Williams who did a lot of the re-tracking with us and Josh. I must say I am very impressed with him. "Sonically" speaking, this is probably one of the best, if not the best sounding record I have ever done. Ryan has an amazing sense for where things should go. Working with Brendan O'Brien for all those years has really rubbed off on him, but he has really come into his own.
Also: New Suicide Girls Hoodies for men! Check them out at Suicide Girls.

Rockstar and The Panic Channel
(This is how my hair looked when I woke up this morning. Haha.)
"Death doesn't just sell records; it can also spark a series. Banking on the success of the first season, Variety says that CBS is ready for more "Rock Star." Sadly, Dave Navarro and Brooke Burke will return as the hosts. Expect a whole lot of kissing ass and cue cards."
Hahahaha. OK. So it looks like CBS has picked up the show again. You know, last season I kind of took a lot of heat for being too "supportive" with my comments. (How can you be too supportive, anyway?) Well, here is the thing. The band looking for the singer was INXS, and obviously, I am not in INXS. My comments were in line with my role. Co-host and nothing more. If I was to hammer the contestants, whom I also had to see every week during the clinics to work with, it would make no sense. I was there to help them. Anything I might say to them of a critical nature would have been inappropriate as after all, it wasn't my band. I am not at liberty to say how, but this season will be much more interesting and different.
The Panic Channel: We have been mixing this week and we are seven songs in. Just about half way before we start to sequence the record and figure out which song(s), if any, will be saved for something else. The stuff is sounding killer and we are looking to come out sometime before summer. We have completed She Won't Last, Awake, Go On, Loophole, Bloody Mary, Said You'd Be and Why Cry. Today we are tackling Outsider.
As a result of the mixing, there will be no Spread Radio Live tonight, but you can always tune in for a rebroadcast!

No SRL Tonight :(
Hey now! Well, it looks like tonight's SRL will not take place as we (The Panic Channel) are mixing and Gregg and Carmen are working late tonight once again on the set of Joey. We will be back for sure next Tuesday night. Robert and I are currently updating the SRL page and we will have more info on the station's progress later today. I might do a quick little hour of music later and will of course let you know if this is happening. So, I watched Lost last night and I gotta tell you, I'm kind of getting over it. After being left with the "Dad?" cliffhanger almost a month ago, I was all set to learn what kind of amazing developments would ensue. Of course, we are nowhere regarding that matter. Evidently, wherever Walt is, he has am AIM program and is able to chat with Michael in the hatch. Who knows? Maybe he is also downloading music and surfing some soft core sites too. He's probably on MySpace too, placing "Thanx for the add!" comments with large picture files attached on everybody's sites. You know, they should have done that actually! That would have been rad. If there was a Walt profile and he was hitting everyone looking for Michael. With the new season of The Shield and the new 24, I might have to finally bow out of the whole Lost phenomenon.
Oh yeah, how funny is it that the story at Rokbar got picked up by so many press outlets? It's nice to know that what goes on here gets read by Page Six! I should come up with some outlandish story and see if it makes the news elsewhere. Talk about my alien abduction or that time at Loch Ness.

Fun With Photoshop/New Podcast/Sunday 5
This is funny. I have been getting some comments on MySpace lately about how I stole the coffin photo idea from Ville of H.I.M. So, naturally I looked at his picture. I must say they are very close. Upon further inspection I came to realize that they pretty much exactly the same. Someone has put his face on my body for the Ville shot. Whoever did it, did a great job, which leads me to believe it was more than likely done by one of his fans. I doubt very much that he would knowingly have this done himself. The real give away is the hands. You can see my tattoos on his hands. Oh, the magic of Photoshop! Anyone who knows me knows that I have done this quite a few times myself. There is the one of me and Rene, me and teacher Mary Kay, me and Carmen Electra... Oh, wait, MOST of those are real. Hey, at least it was done with a pretty cool guy like Ville, but don't get any funny ideas out there. I don't want to get e-mailed with a bunch of George W's lying in a coffin with tattooed hands!
1. If you were stranded on a desert island which ONE CD would you have with you?
That's a toss up between The Wall and The Fragile.
2. Dave, do you smoke cigars?
Well, if someone gives me a good one I will, but I am not the type to go out and buy them.
3. Tom and Chris from Myspace are going to be at Sundance, doing events to promote their independent film section. Any plans to meet the original myspace friend?
No, not really. If they happen to be walking by, I'll say hi, but I don't seek people out like that.
4. Don't know if you know this or not Dave, but your Podcast link in iTunes in broken. It no longer updates.
That's my fault. I thought the links on the right would upload, but I have to actually post the new Podcast links like this new one from last night. There, it should work now!
5. With those "in the know" predicting the demise in a few years of albums in favor of digital downloads, I wondered if you still actually purchase CDs yourself, if so, what was the last one?
I honestly think the last purchase I made was the NIN album. Other than that, I pretty much download everything and burn discs. I am a huge iTunes shopper!

Good Times at Rokbar
(I am amazed by some of the stuff people make! This picture is from an actual item on E Bay.) OK here is a little story from last night. I went to Rokbar after SRL for Ty Taylor's birthday. We had a lot of fun. It was great to see him, Deanna, Dana, Riss and all my Rokbar friends. I get myself situated with a couple of friends at a table and decide to order some food. I was getting kind of hungry. So my food arrives, I'm sitting there eating and this big 7 foot tall, 5 feet wide guy comes up to me. "Is your name Dave?" "Yes." "Hey can my sister get a picture with you?" "Well, I am eating right now so I can't really do that, but thanx and have a good time." About a half hour later the waitress comes up to me and says, "Hey, that guy wants to buy you guys a round of shots." "Oh thank you, but I don't drink." Seems pretty simple right? Well another half hour goes by and the guy comes back over to my table and says, "What are you too good for me? You're too cool to have a shot with me? FUCK YOU, you fuckin asshole!!!" In my head I'm like, what the fuck? He then loses it and turns over all the drinks and plates on my table and they all go flying into the air and shatter as they crash into each other and onto the table, causing a rain of glass to fall upon me and my friends. Glass goes into hair, clothes and actually slightly cuts up my arm. (I DO mean slightly, but I'll leave it to your imagination for dramatic purposes.) The guy started to walk away and leave the bar, I think realizing what has happened and I was told I leapt over the table and ran after him. We head outside for the big throw down, and that's when I realize this guy is as big as he is. Uh oh. Anyway, bouncers and security intervene and when I see that I'm all safe, I THEN get all hard and ghetto. "What the fuck dude? Let's fucking do this! What's your problem?" All the cliche "let's step outside" bar smack. The guy gets into his limo and I say to the driver and all of his friends, "Keep this bitch here! He's going to jail!" Then I direct it all to him. "You're going to jail, bitch! That's right motherfucker... Say hello to jail, son!" So the security calls the cops, the driver isn't goin anywhere and it seems like they are gonna deal with it and I go inside. Then I think... "Ah, the guy is drunk, we are OK... Fuck it, I don't need the cops here. This is stupid." I go back out to tell security to blow it off and the driver had taken off. I'm like, motherfucker, you are kidding me! They split? The driver split? They evaded? Then I get really pissed. OK... Bring those cops here now then! I must say I was impressed with the response time. Two squad cars pull up in like 2 minutes. We give them the info and the plate number of the limo etc. They ask me if I want to press charges and have them go out and look for this idiot. I decide that I'd rather not make the rest of my night all about police reports and papers to fill out and all that shit, so I tell them thanx but they can blow it off. I guess there was no real "crime". I mean, I could have filed a vandalism charge because it's my bar or an attempted assault, but at the end of the day, I was just happy to have a moment of real drama and police and all that shit. I got my little adrenaline rush. That was all I needed. I told the cops that they probably have better things to deal with so blow it off. The whole thing was fuckin fun though. Hahahahaha.

Rain
Morning! New Year, 2006... Day 2... Monday. We had an awesome evening on the 31st, went to bring in the new year at Sharon and Ozzy's house with the Morrisons and Billy Duffy and his girl Jennifer. It was really a great time and they literally live within 5 minutes from our place, so it was simple fun and easy. The way things should be on NYE. The1st also marked four years off the drinks and drugs for me. It was really special to celebrate that with my wife and good friends. Today, it is raining hard here... You know I love that. "I love the rain, it washes memories off the sidewalks of life." (I know, I always quote that Woody Allen line from Play It Again, Sam.) Today is all about the gym, possibly radio and relaxation with our new puppy Kiko. Speaking of radio, there are some new shows loaded in the Spread Radio Archives thanx to Robert and Chase. Also, the NYE Camp Freddy Radio show is now loaded in the Podcast section of 6767.com. It almost sounds "live".
Later this month, I am going to Sundance for Indie to do a bunch of interviews with actors, musicians and movie people. I have never been so I am looking forward to a little snow ... scarf and parka weather. Possibly a film or two. It'll be two days of Sundance coverage. I'll keep you posted as to when this goes down. Also, we FINALLY got a digital camera, so I can get some pictures up soon of Kiko and many other wonderful things. That reminds me, I better get to steppin on the scans for the photobooth show in March. I think January will be all about getting that together and mixing The Panic Channel album. After the record is mixed, we have plans to release a track straight to you all... Before the "official" single release.
