SRL Tuesday 7:30-9:30pm PST
I usually don't reprint items I find in the news about myself or my wife, but this is just too precious:
ELECTRA'S SCORPION DIES
Former BAYWATCH beauty CARMEN ELECTRA is mourning the death of her pet scorpion.
In the summer (05), the sexy actress found the stinger crawling around her Hollywood home and decided to keep it - much to the dismay of her rocker husband DAVE NAVARRO.
She says, "He walked toward the light. He died.
"I took very good care of my scorpion, because I felt bad (for him). I didn't want to kill him and I didn't want to just let him back out, so I fed him grasshoppers and I went to a pet store to find out what to do.
"I guess they have a short life span. I don't know."
1. Do you have any pictures of you with Trent?
No, I don't.
2. Are you going to start the Sunday 10 again?
For sure, it's just that there are rarely 10 questions to answer.
3. What's the reason for taking Camp Freddy Radio to Podcast only and not posting in your spread radio player? Is it a time issue, music rights issue or just because? I kinda miss the music.
Well, there are a couple of reasons. Now that we have Spread Radio Live, there is plenty of music at all times. Also, we have learned that it is somewhat confusing to have Spread Radio and Spread Radio Live, so we are working on just having a banner to SRL there instead of the player. The reason there is no music in the CFR Podcasts is because legally we cannot rebroadcast music without paying a fee. On SRL, Live 365 helps by making sure that all of the appropriate fees and licensing gets taken care of.
4. So Dave, when you are talking to Marilyn Manson...what do you call him?!?
Manson.
5. What are your plans for Christmas?
We are gonna spend the day with my family and then have our usual "Friends of the Friendless" Christmas dinner at our house with our friends that have nothing to do or no local family. We have these two lesbian friends who can cook up a storm and we watch terrible movies, exchange gifts and play board games. I'll end up doing a Christmas SRL with whoever is here, I am sure.

There will be CFR on Saturday also, correct?
Posted by: Junebug at December 20, 2005 10:25 AM
Hey Dave. I have asked this question already, but I am really curious as to if it is true or not.
Are you going to take a trip into space in 2010?
I heard Moby beat you out to be the first rocker in space, so you are number two. Is this true?
Posted by: laurieg23 at December 20, 2005 10:51 AM
I have this Q, and you are my only connection to Hollywood, so, all tho i know you are not an actor, i'm gonna ask this anyway, maybe youll know...
When a movie is made, the technical script says exactly what camera movements , and what shots are going to be done, and how long will they last? or it changes depending on the desires of the director?
Posted by: Marivic at December 20, 2005 11:02 AM
Hey Dave, the only question I have is:
Where's your pimped out ride?
Posted by: Mean Gene at December 20, 2005 11:04 AM
Thanks for answering my MM question, Dave. You're a sweetheart :) The things that pop into our heads, huh?! lol
So Dave and fellow 67ers, I know its a little early to ask but...What are your new years resolutions? (if you make them?) Im still trying to figure out mine...the problem is by the time the next year passes I can never remember my previous resolution!! HAH! Kinda defeats the whole purpose....
Love, Amber :)

I cant wait for the Xmas SRL... if its anything like the thanksgiving... watch out.
Heres a twist for that show- rather than just Cock Talk (which is great) have both sides... point counter-point if you will... Cock Talk followed by Twat Talk with the lesbian cooks!!!
That would be rad... and I want full credit for that idea! hehehe
Take care...

Hi all,
Ambersonian - Funny you mention resolutions. Mine is to replace the old with the new, especially our comp and other gadgets. Finally come into the 21st century. (You know it's time to replace your comp when it makes grinding noises!)
It's just time, for a million reasons. Plus, it will enable me to more fully partake in SR, SRL, and all that good stuff.
I hope everyone is well!
Cheers,

Awww...was he named after Trent Reznor?
See, that's a cool chick right there. She's got compassion for a nasty little arachnid thing, even. Your wife kicks ass.
Posted by: Helen at December 20, 2005 02:48 PM
Was the Scorpion named "Trent?" Or was the question about Trent Reznor...I think you guys are reading that wrong! But a scorpion named "Trent" would be cute.
Sorry to hear he died.
If I had a scorpion, I'd prbly name him The Rock.

RIP Scorpy! Too funny.
That's really cool you do the friends of the friendless thing. What can beat cooking with lesbians? I'm spending my first Christmas alone this year due to moving to LA - should definitely be interesting. I'll be tuning into SRL.
And as always, love when you and Billy play live on CFR! I also didn't mind your Chris Cornell interpretation :)

The Trent Reznor thing was a question from Sue. If memory serves Carmen named the Scorpian "Scorpy" :) She's so cute...my sister saved TRL for me from yesterday, Carmen was a guest. She looked great and said that the end of her movie made Dave cry! Awwwww!
Dave, Do you and Carmen watch the shows you appear on? I know some celebs hate seeing themselves on tv...you guys seem like you'd enjoy it. Yet another wacky question for ya!
Love, Amber
Posted by: Ambersonian at December 20, 2005 04:38 PM
Dave, Dave.....who do *you* think the Carver is, and are you going to be watching???
And the Scorpy story--too cute!! Carmen seems so sensitive and sweet....

About the CFR podcast/SR player issue- usually I just listen to the podcast, but that time when the link was wrong, I listened to the player. For some reason (probably has to do with some kind of obsession...~_~ I went back later and listened to the podcast when the link was fixed, and I was stunned to find that awesome rendition of you and Billy playing 'Ziggy' omitted. Granted, you guys did play it again to close the last show, and it was there, but still. I think that taking out the playlist, commercials, etc. is cool for the podcast, but please include in-studio performances, please? It makes me wonder what other cool stuff was cut out in the past.
Posted by: Debbie at December 20, 2005 04:43 PM
Well, it is quite the loss to lose something that could kill you in 1 little poke and is living in your home.
But it's always upsetting to see a pet go.
I'm sure she'll find another one. haha.
Posted by: Brandon at December 20, 2005 04:44 PM
i am sorry for your wife's loss. i don't think i could "own" a scorpion..kinda chicken that way. ha,ha,ha.
happy holidays everyone! miffy is leaving me too? dammit lostboy you need to come back, especially since miffy is gone now.
jezzi--how are you doing?
i will have to think about new years resolutions...it is just now the end of the semester, and thinking makes me tired. it has been a long semester.
Posted by: Heather at December 20, 2005 04:57 PM
what's with the LESBIAN friends, what's the need to label them, this is the second time I have read this, but aren't they the same friends that cooked for you last year, and there wasn't any labeling then, I, for one, would find it offensive, like, do they call you their 'myspace porn star internet addict' friend?
Can't they just be two good friends, and leave it at that, does food taste different when it's made by lesbians? Do they wear "Kiss the lesbian cook" aprons?
I mean, I'm a lesbian, but I don't think there's a uniform, or a secret handshake, although I do work for UPS
I just don't get it.
Posted by: notmolly at December 20, 2005 05:49 PM
Of course you don't get it. We consider them as part of our family. These are two girls who want to have a show called, "Cooking With The Lesbians". Carmen has talked about them on talk shows, it has become kind of a "thing". I guess part of being an Internet addict allows me to share things that eventually, people like you give me grief for. Happy Holidays!
Posted by: DN6767 at December 20, 2005 06:04 PM
Dave, you're breaking my heart...being on the same time as Nip/Tuck....
That's okay...I'll know who the Carver is before you do! Mmmwwwwwhhhhaaaaaa! :p
~Dani~
Posted by: gypsyfenix at December 20, 2005 06:19 PM
wow, there's a quick response, albeit a passive aggressive one. I seriously don't think you truly wish me "happy" holidays, right after you insult my intelligence and accuse me of giving you 'grief'. Just expressing an opinion.
Posted by: notmolly at December 20, 2005 06:20 PM
LESBIAN-LESBIAN-LESBIAN-LESBIAN-LESBIAN-LESBIAN-LESBIAN!!! ITS NOT A BAD WORD NOTMOLLY....DON'T BE SO FUKN SENSITIVE.....THIS WORLD IS FULL OF LABELS.....DAVE SAYING "MY LESBIAN FRIENDS" WUZ JUST SO WE DIDNT CONFUSE THEM WITH SAY "A COUPLE STRAIGHT-CHIX" HE KNOWS.....IF HE CALLED THEM "2 GOOD FRIENDS" .....THAT SEEMS KINDA REPRESSED......LIEK OMG! thoughts on the nip/tuck finale? such a twisted episode that sets them up nicely for season 4 i thought.
Posted by: EmpyreLounge at December 20, 2005 10:02 PM
ylais!! i could hug you right now!! i love Nizter Ebb and good ol' fashioned industrial music like KMFDM and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult...don't know if you know those but i'm naturally assuming you do...you rule!!
and wow...that Nip/Tuck episode...just sooo amazing and so sick...i was beginning to get a little disappointed in the season feeling that it became trite and conceived and tried to be shocking for the sake of shocking but this episode redeemed it for me. i pretty much guessed who the carver was but there WAS a pleasant twist at the end...hope you enjoy it dave! i love ya!! and the people on this board still rule!
much love

Dave, are you a 'myspace porn star'? Woah. XD
Posted by: Debbie at December 21, 2005 03:23 AM
No questions, huh.... I'll see what I can do
1. How committed are the millionaire rock stars to TPC - I know Isaacs hasn't got two cents to rub together but I guess the other three of you are fairly flush, especially anyone that used to be in RHCP! Put it this way, when you woz all 20, I reckon if you started a band, you'd be playing gigs every night if you could get bookings, and spending the days writing/rehearsing/trying to get a deal whatever. Now, it seems like you guys did a couple of gigs a year or so ago and since then you've been in the recording studio (separately)a few times. Doesn't seem like you have the hunger that some first timers would have, y'know what I mean? Or, come to that the "tightness" of being a "band" (as opposed to a group of musicians working on a project together).
2. Is TPC a long term deal, or a one-off project. When you guys started it all seemed to be the band you guys were starting, now you seem to talk of "the album" as though once that's done with, that's it and you'll all be off doing the next thing (Perk to join rumoured reformation of Porno, maybe not?). Anyhow, do you envisage there being a second, third or fourth TPC album?
3. Your legacy: Do you every think about how you'll be remembered? It seems to me that you are one of those key figures that people who aren't really into music have never heard of - y'know how everyone on the planet has heard of Xtina, Britney, Timberlake, Vanilla Ice, RHCP etc. but loads of ignorant punters have never heard of JA? I'm thinking from a music POV here as I know in the states you are a "celebrity" cos of your TV work (hope you don't want to be mainly rememebered for that!)
4. Re. the above question, do you think the short lives of most of your projects have impeded your achievements. To put it another way, if you look at the bands who've kept it together for a longer period, say Zepellin, the Who, Pink Floyd, RHCP (?), their bext albums are maybe not always the first one or two - listen to Led Zep's fourth, of any late sixties Who. Now your longest stint is with JA - and Strays had such a gap before that it sounds more like a debut outing for a new band than the "follow up" to Ritual. Do you ever wish you could have made Jane's sixth album? How good would Deconstruction's second album have been? What about the third?
4. Just Because - do you prefer album version or acoustic version you did live
5. Why no "Three Days" on the Strays tour?
5. Have you actually spoken to Perry about the communication breakdown thing? Under the circumstances, is an apology by blog appropriate?
6. Did you hear any of the music you were working on before leaving RHCP on Californication
7. What do you think of Alanis Morisette's acoustic reworking of Jagged Little Pill
8. Beatles or Rolling Stones? Discuss
9. When (if) you find yourself playing along with Perk and Chaney, do you ever find any Janes songs breaking out?
10. Why did Chad split on Spread?
There - you got ten now!
Posted by: ed at December 21, 2005 05:45 AM
Whoa, ed, that's quite a mouthful. Awesome.
Hey Dave, can I be on "Cooking With The Lesbians" as the Sicilian smart alec that has a panache for cooking also? I have head shots and well, you all know I'm hot as all get out. Thanks!

So cool you love it too Emily!

Also, zipping my mouth, to let Dave answer the questions from Ed.
BUT have to say that Dave has already apologised, explained on here with regards to number 5...which seems more like a 'you should statement' rather than a question. I loathe the incorrect use of the word 'appropriate'...a word stolen from Behavioural Psychology.
The word is 'proper', or even 'polite'. The wanton use of 'appropriate' is a pet peeve of mine.
Saying no more.
Probably wander over to the inappropriate behaviour thread now...maybe I'll take up making Industrial Music too.
love to all Lisa xxxx

Whats more exciting for you. A new album or just the fact that you've got your creative juices going and you along with Perk, Steve and Chris have this new baby you're giving to the world? Or maybe a combo of the three?
Also if you could use only one word to describe the recording sessions which word would that be?

"appropriate"
def. noun -
Suitable for a particular person, condition, occasion, or place; fitting.
tr.v. ap·pro·pri·at·ed, ap·pro·pri·at·ing, ap·pro·pri·ates (-t)
1. To set apart for a specific use: appropriating funds for education.
2. To take possession of or make use of exclusively for oneself, often without permission: Lee appropriated my unread newspaper and never returned it.
