Just Checkin In
It's been a few days since last I checked in. Not a whole hell of a lot going on here. Our Christmas was great - very low key and mellow. On Christmas Eve, Carmen and I went to see King Kong which we both enjoyed quite a bit. Gregg and I were discussing the film on SRL last night and I was surprised to hear how many people felt that it was "the same old story and too much CGI". I dunno, for me, that's kind of what I expected when I purchased my ticket. A lot of CGI and for Kong to fall in love with the actress and lose at the end. If you are expecting something else, don't go. There is no twist, he doesn't win in this one and it is very King Long. Three hours. The next day we went over to the family's house for a day of carbs, presents and catching up. After, we were to have our Lesbian Cook Off but one of them got sick, so we just had a few friends over, including Loop and his wife. Nice time. After, Carmen and I watched Walk The Line.
1. Also, will you be at NAMM pimping your Yamaha signature guitar?
Yes, you know I will.
2. Curb Your Enthusiasm or Seinfeld?
Curb. Cable allows it to get a little more extreme with the subject matter.
3. The Charvel you held up for the Dec. 15th post, did you have to buy it or was it given to you? WIll you play it live?
That was a gift from Carmen for Christmas. I will most definitely play it live!
4. When touring do you prefer bus or plane?
That depends on the distance. For the most part, anything to keep away from airports is preferred.
5. Dave, I heard that you are going to be a guest at the VH1 Decades Live show, for Heart, along with AIC...I was wondering if there's truth to the rumor and what kind of role you and the AIC guys will have in the show?
That is true, however I only know that I have accepted the invitation to participate. As for my role, that remains to be seen.

The cd is called afterglow and it's the last thing I wrote For anyone.
All the Canadians can write their own shit from now on. I'm done being used, and I'm done being hurt.
I'm done being lied to.
Go fuck yourselves.

Glad you had a good time!
C.Y.E. with Larry David is probably the best T.V. show I've ever seen! good choice.

Hey Dave! glad you had a good time over the holidays. Nothing is better than eating good food with good people.
However, I have a question for you.
Would you ever play any songs from your solo album with The Panic Channel for any live shows or is it strictly TPC stuff?
Be Well,
~Shannon~

I can't wait to see "King Kong" and "Walk the Line" sounds good... Johnny Cash I do love his music, and his "Hurt" version is one of my all time favorite songs...

Dave,
I'm glad Carmen and you are havings a nice holiday season. Looking back, what do you think is the best thing to come out of this 6767 website? Did you achieve all you had planned goals this year and what would you have changed?
Thanks,
from the sidelines

Nice to hear from you, Dave!
For Christmas, my little sister got me a poster of a KISS concert from 1982. Today she took me to the store that she got it at and they had a KISS monopoly game and a trivia game. So I asked her why she didn't get that for me either. She said something about how I crashed her computer....
But the cool thing at this store is that they had YOU there playing a guitar! But today, I couldn't afford you.... maybe next time....
So Dave, what did you give Carmen for Christmas? What did she give you?
Lots of love!
Always,
me

You used to describe yourself as a neurotic person, don't know if you still do, but has that ever affected your live performances, doubting you could pull something off or being afraid to fuck things up?
Posted by: Mads at December 28, 2005 03:56 PM
When you're high, do you feel most inhibited mentally or physically?
Also
Do you think the concept of 'the one' (relationship wise not like in the matrix) ACTUALLY exists or is it more of a 'get used to a person and MAKE them the one' kinda situation
thank you love you!!
Posted by: Aisha at December 28, 2005 05:20 PM
Aisha..those are some great questions, you got me thinkin', girl!!
Dave, I heard you on SRL last night saying you didn't know what your plans were for New Year's Eve...some unsolicited suggestions...
1. CFR!!!!
2. ROKBAR...NO COVER!!hahaha...
3. Black Eyed Peas playing at GiantVillage on Wilshire...lumps and humps!
or, do what I do, settle in with a pizza, some coke (the beverage, sillies), and some movies..
might I suggest the Christopher Guest box set of This is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind..all improv, and some of Eugene Levy's best work...
love,
jezzi

After Martin LeNoble left Jane's in 2002, did you guys ever consider asking David J to be the bass player?
Just wondering.

Hey Dave This is my first post, I got your book for xmas :) it was an interesting read and I admire you for writing it. I am glad that the story had a great ending with you still being with us Dave! The world is a better place with you and your guitar, thanks for being so great to your fans and we all love and admire you!! I am glad that you and Carmen had a great xmas and I hope you guys have an even better New Year!!
I saw someone ask you what you thought of the new INXS album. Being an Aussie I too would love to know the answer to that question (once you get a chance to hear it). It to me is like the old INXS, I think it has a good mix of music. It turned out better then I expected given the limited time JD had to get the songs right and recorded for the album.
I was supportive of JD the whole time since his first song on Rockstar but a lot of other people thought he was arrogant. I figure you know him better then any of us so you could let us know what he is really like?

Must have been quite a few of the DON'T TRy THIS AT HOME sOLD :) Good for you! I also got that book for Christmas, what a amazing book. As Rockgurl stated, glad you are here to be so GOOD to us!.. What an amazing year- some good and bad times. This summer, I got interested in ROck Star, INXS and of course YOU! More questions as you wish. You stated you WANT to be on Celebrity Poker Showdown again (Want to see you on too;) -who would be YOUR choice of players. I know you said the CSI girls, but really- who are the most challenging ones that you would want at your table. Love ya, Db

Cheers

Oh man, speaking of the VH1 decades live, this just came out a bit ago.
http://www.decadesrocklive.com/artists/weiland.php
It's STP and Velvet Revolver, same stage, same night, Atlantic City, August 18th. I'm stunned, just stunned at an STP reunion, if only for a night. If any of you know me, you know I'm the biggest STP/Weiland fan around these parts. To stop and think of all that man has been through, relapse upon relapse, and for him to have finally reached a point in his life where he's obviously comfortable in his skin, well, it just makes me almost cry. Actually, I did cry when I read the news. I'm so happy for him, and for you Dave, to have conquered the beast that is addiction, one day at a time. Who would've thought that just 10 years ago you would've been recognized later for your many charitable contributions, work with MAP, autism, etc, and that Scott would be making comedy shorts with his kid for the comedy channel? Man, I'm just so, well, happy at the power of whatever watches over us, the thing that allows us to thrive and prosper despite ourselves, that thing called Grace. Ok, just had to stop and pause a moment to be reflective. Thanks for this place Dave and for all you do. Wow, an STP reunion. Just fucking WOW.

"Oh Mother Ocean" - a lyrical poem for the new year...
Oh Mother Ocean
Wash over me
Waves of wonder
Take me under
Let your tides
Rip me asunder
Until I become
The unselfish one
Before I was born
When time begun
Under the luminous sun
Oh Mother Ocean
Swallow me whole
Swallow me whole, deep inside your embryonic soul
Then gestate me out with your spiral liquid love
Deep in your waters of life
Oh Mother Ocean
Illuminate my mind
With oceanic wisdom
Turning water into wine
Oh Mother Ocean
Swallow me whole
Swallow me whole, deep into your embryonic soul
Then gestate me out with your spiral liquid love
Deep in your waters of life
Oh Mother Ocean
Take me inside
The crest of your wave
So I can ebb
Then I can flow
With your tide
On my oceanic ride
To the other side
Where fears will subside
As we become one
Under the luminous sun
Oh Mother Ocean
Swallow me whole
Swallow me whole, deep inside your embryonic soul
Then gestate me out with your spiral liquid love
Deep in your waters of life
Oh Mother Ocean
Illuminate my mind
With oceanic wisdom
Turning water into wine
Oh Mother Ocean
Swallow me whole
Swallow me whole, deep into your embryonic soul
Then gestate me out with your spiral liquid love
Deep in your waters of life

I just opened The Village Voice to look over the local club listings: there's a band called Panic Channel listed for a January 4th show at the Knitting Factory. ???????
Obviously, it's not "The" Panic Channel.
Time to call the lawyers........

I'm with Angel....what did you get Carmen for Christmas?? More Louis Vuitton??
What are you and Carmen doing New Years??
Is there any topic you consider "off-limits" to fans and press??
I am looking forward to the New Year....new life....what is your New Years resolution (or do you make them)?

How the hell did I miss this? I have been on this site and in the Panic Community and just figured out how to post on here. I always wondered where you got your questions from? Anyhow, I just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration. I've finally learned to be grateful for the hard times and losses in my life, cause I surely wouldn't be who I am today without them, and your book really inspired me to work on that. Luv ya ( :

I was giggling at the King Kong exchange between you and Gregg. Too much CGI? It IS a giant gorilla! Same old story? Well, I've yet to see a remake of Titanic where the boat DOESN'T sink...I fell in love with Adrian Brody when I saw him in Bread and Roses..good movie to NetFlix, based on the janitor's strike in LA, he's amazing! And that nose of his, just brings out his eyes...
Anyway, happy Thursday to you all.
love,
