Camp Freddy at The Palms

"What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas... Except Camp Freddy." We were in and out of there in a day. We started off with a flight to Vegas at 11:30am, got to soundcheck at The Palms around 2:00pm, then had some down time from 6:30-8:30pm. Cantrell and I got our naps on and then woke up to a pot of coffee, showers then down to the party where Carmen already was, hosting the evening with Johnny Fava. Great set tonight with the highlight being Round and Round with Warren DeMartini of Ratt on guitar and Mark McGrath on vocals. Warren and I actually figured out the harmony solo parts and it was pretty rad. Scott Weiland did Crackerman and Roadhouse Blues, Duff did New Rose, Ty Taylor did Whole Lotta Love and even Sweet Suzie McNiel came up and did Feel Like Makin Love. It was great to see those two again and they killed it. Steve Jones on Pretty Vacant is always amazing... A Sex Pistols song with a Sex Pistol is a pretty undeniable experience. Jerry sang Alice Cooper's 18 and played on Cat Scratch and Man in the Box. Duffy played on Makin Love and Ziggy. Of course, as with all Camp Freddy shows, everyone came out for Dog, including Carmen who gyrated onstage alongside Johnny Fava. Earlier in the set, Johnny did a hilarious version of Paranoid. If you have ever seen him, you know what I mean.

(Thanx to Princessabby for the pictures!) After the show, we literally got off stage, packed our shit and got on the plane back to LA. Carmen stayed on for the Billboard thing on Tuesday with Greg, so my trusty SRL co-host is out for a few days. I plan on resuming the radio show tomorrow as I have received five brand new unopened Netflix and I am just wasted from the day. What else? I think that's it. I'm burnt. I saw a few Community members in the audience, but I never got a chance to say hi, so if you are reading this... "Hi."

hi dave!....I love the pic!...it´s cuttie...kisses from Spain!

Posted by: VESTA at December 5, 2005 06:13 AM

4:57 AM huh? Late night! sounds like it was a fantastic show. Someday when my expendable income increases to a more comfortable level, I'll finally be able to fly out and catch a CF show... damn priorities =)

I've been out due to the holidays and end-of-the-year project madness at work (those of you who are 9 to 5'ers know what I mean). However, I find myself jonesing for my 67 and communnity fix, and have found that I can never stay away for long. You certainly provide a much needed holiday and work "break"... Thanx!

Isn't that Gacy by Gacy? Weird shit Man. Yep, as with everyone else, someday on the CF gig. Someday.

Hey D & Fam,
Hope all is well all over…snow coming here to eastern LI tonight!

Hey, Dave—what are you and Carmen doing for New Year’s Eve? How about coming out to the east coast to ring it in with Velvet Revolver at Starland? I’ll be there!! It will be fun, come on out!!

Have a great day, everyone.

Love,
Sue

Welcome home, Dave..I see you had 500 new friends waiting for you!! But what about our Billy?, and I would love to see a pic of Carmen with Johnny Fayva..he always has such great things to say about Camp Freddy, he credits you guys with saving his life!!

What a treat! I didn't expect an update at all yet, let alone one with such details and awesome pics. Looks like you guys kicked ass, as usual.

I love how eclectic the guest stars are at a CF show. I think it's great how you guys can bring together so many different kinds of musicians, ignoring and transcending genres, all in the name of rock & roll. Something for everyone. How cool is that?

Any plans on CF doing a mini-tour? Dude, that would, like, SO rock. :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Sounds like another great CF show. Sorry to have missed it. Glad you're back and looking forward to the next broadcast of SRL.

I'm going to continue lounging here in Vegas for a few more hours before the drive back. Have a good one all!

Hiya Dave and everyone,

Okay to start the John Wayne Gacy painting, I have seen that before and many other "Pogo" ones he did and they have a creepiness to them. Dave is that a print or original? because I came across a website that claims they have it and are selling it for twenty seven hundred dollars. They also have a bunch of items from his legal trial counsel for sale too.

Also sounds like another great show. Just like every CF show you guys do. Seriously doubt any of you haven't had a blast. Hope you get caught up on your Netflix and just enjoy a day off. Have a great monday everyone.

Hi Dave and 67 family:

Ok, here's the deal:

After receiving a disturbing piece of material in the mail today about "dogfighting", I would like to encourage you to help STOP this discusting so-called "sport".

I am telling everyone that will listen, about the extremes that money-hungry, ruthless people will go to by torturing, starving, and beating animals into states of rage and viciousness, to fight to the death for their owners' fortune and enjoyment.

If you care, you can contact the follwing below and tell them to end this horrific inhuman act:

1. U.S. Representative at (202) 224-3121

2. Visit the website at: www.fund.org

3. Contact the Human Society Legislative Fund
519 C Street, NE Washington, DC 20002

Please help these poor animals that DO N OT have the voice to cry for help...TAKE ACTION NOW!!!

It was an awesome show Dave, and Carmen was so cute and sweet (and gorgeous! can it get any better??). I wil post the links for the rest of my pics when I finish them. Not sure how many will turn out because I was shooting mostly without flash (for the first time), but we'll see! Take care everyone.

Hell yeah, Sue! A show at the Starland in Jersey would be a definite treat and I would most certainly be there with bells on. Aah to dream...

Ashley, how horrible! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Glad CF went well.....sorry Ashley for your accident....and Dave, welcome back home safe and sound!!!

i personally like the painting. i have a fascination with serial killers..i would love to take apart their brains to see what makes them tick. maybe in another life.

wendybird--am looking forward to your pictures, they are always great!

the previous pic of dave makes me proud of how far he has come. dave is an old soul who has lived through much. thank you dave, for getting your addictions under control..sometimes it is hard to do that. my baby's daddy could not ever seem to get his under control...they controlled him and now he is in jail. (where he belongs)

speaking of addictions...claudinha??? come out, come out, wherever you are.

jezzi--i hope you are doing well.

lostboy: where is my funny story for the day?

love to all

About the painting, I wonder... If people didn't know that it was done by Gacy, would it have the same effect?

Knowing that it is, the pic IS kinda creepy. (Aren't all clowns?) Viewing it objectively, I find it to be a very sad, haunting painting, in spite of its bright, cheerful colors.

Of course, Dave holding it adds a whole other dimension to it...

On another note, Abby, your pics look great so far. I can't wait to see everyone's shots!

Posted by: Denise at December 5, 2005 08:42 PM

Just wanted to stop by and say Hello.

So...

Hello. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hey Dave, do you or Carmen have any new year's resolutions?

As for me, a man.

Much love,

HAHA!! Two parenthetical posters in one day, both of them, girls I love!! Abby, the first panicat I ever met, and my dear CC...you leg toucher, you!!

As for men...ahhh, I love men!! they are my chief interest, and my main downfall...does anyone have an extra one, I promise I'll give it right back!

jezzi(stolen from my own myspace)

Posted by: jezebel at December 5, 2005 09:16 PM

I don't think anyone likes clowns. They're evil. That's why you have famous quotes like "no clown is funny after midnight" and "never trust a clown after 9 pm". I probably didn't get that quite right, but you get the idea.

Heather
I may have an amusing high speed zipper accident story to tell, that happened at work this morning. But I think it's going to be awhile before I think it's funny. So you'll just have to wait !!!

Off to look for clowns under my bed,
LostBoy

Posted by: LostBoy at December 5, 2005 10:03 PM

Glad to hear the show was a hit, but of course we all expected it to be, I think. :p Sounds like it was awesome. Wish I could have seen it. That would have been sweet.

Congrats on a successful show.

And yes, clowns are scary. It's a great picture though.

Not sure whether I wanted to laugh or cry when Fayva stripped down to the leopard skin thong and bounced/flopped around on stage. It was a great show and I hope to see you guys in Vegas again soon. Dave, you and the rest of the guys looked like you'd all been hit by a Mac truck (of course, I mean this in the hottest way possible) when you were getting off the elevators. You sure didn't miss anything at the afterparty in the RW suite. Hope you all got some well deserved rest.

Yes Heather, very painful. Especially the, me getting stabbed with a pair of scissors part. The whole thing made for an interesting accident in the workplace report. I'm still waiting for the funny to kick in though.

Only slightly wounded,

"lugubrious" Jezzi? That sent me scrambling for the dictionary. I'll be using it all day tomorrow at work. Thanks 8-D

Dave - question for the Sunday 10

WHERE CAN I GET THE PINK PUSSY GUITAR?????? (and yes I am shouting - but in a non-aggressive pleading kind of way)

I've been really good all year (well maybe not all year but I really did do my best) - Santa needs to bring me one of those things! I'll sit on his lap and everything!

Pleeeeeeeeaaaaasssssseeeeeeeee I NEED one x

that hello kitty guitar so suits you...

Posted by: Savvy1007 at December 7, 2005 03:36 AM

No, don't ignore me - you don't understand - I NEEEEEED ONE!!!!

I'll happily sit on anyone's lap to get me one of them things - huh, Dave, huh?

I'll even promise NOT to sit on your lap if you would prefer???

I'm even willing to learn how to play it ....... *insert desperate begging here*

Posted by: Miffy at December 7, 2005 03:39 AM

Well Miffy, you are absolutely shameless. Yet you wouldn't sit in MY lap.

Feeling kinda rejected,
