HI Dave & gang, How is everyone? Wow I had a weird dream last night...I won some MTV contest & got to stay at Dave's house. I mostly hung out with Carmen & we tried on clothes. Then we went out to lunch with my mom. haha. Good times. I've gotta remember to tune into the chat sometime.

Morning All! Thanks Dave for yet another great CFR last night. Carmen was great. Have great Sundays/Mondays everyone.
Posted by: Simon at October 9, 2005 01:40 PM
and whats with this band?

would "panic Channel" not come under your copyright laws - so you could sue this small indepandent band for everything they have. if that fails you could just sell "classic Girl" to nike or somthing.
Posted by: tom apple at October 9, 2005 01:45 PM
Dave, I'm listening to last night's CFR and with the whole Abba thing...they get my vote.
Posted by: Sophie at October 9, 2005 02:33 PM
Tom. I think that "Panic Channel" were around first?
Japan? Have a google search, PC are especially prevalent on google image search.
"Panic Channel is an indies visual kei band with Meguru on vocals, Tsubasa and Kana on guitar, Tara on bass, and Takumi on drums."
I'm fairly certain we've chatted about this before on here way back...
Currently giggling at Jordan (Kate) and Pete on tv (giggling in a nice way) getting ready for their wedding.

hey thanks for letting us play man. that was fun. but one question y arnt we on the pod cast? ok see ya
Posted by: Alec from camp teddy at October 9, 2005 03:07 PM
ylais!!! Peter Andre i take it? That man has come back in a big way. He used to go to our school in Australia. He had like 2 big songs then he disappeared until some reality TV show found him and because he hooked up with some girl with massive boobs he is now everywhere (well, in australia anyway). Good luck to him is all i will say.
Posted by: Simon at October 9, 2005 03:24 PM
Simon, yep, Peter Andre! :D "Insania" Yeah he hooked up with Jordan, who he always calls Kate, that's her real name. That was in Australia on "Celebrity Get Me Out of Here." 2 years ago. It was so funny. John Lydon was on it as well. John kept complaining about Jordan not doing anything. Peter kept trying to hook up with her, but he was pretty sweet to her really.
They've been on tv and in mags, tabloids, quite a lot since then. They seem pretty down to earth. Kate keeps telling him to "Shut up, cos you're such a liar!" It's cute.
Posted by: ylais at October 9, 2005 03:41 PM

I just finished listening to last nights CFR. Sorry mate,
I'm with Carmen on this one. That's HELLA embarrassing. Blasting ABBA from the hummer. That's enough to make you wanna just curl up and die in the front seat.

Posted by: Elizabeth at October 9, 2005 08:36 PM
Hi Dave...question for our resident Poker expert...I played in a Texas Hold 'Em tournament last night (first time I've ever played Hold 'Em) and I wonder...
When you have the large blind...how much does that influence your decision to play a hand...do you just usually go in with a pretty crappy hand because, what the heck, you've got an $8,000 blind in front of you already...even though you know you may not get away with checking for very long and will have to bet that much (at least) again very soon (on your pretty crappy hand that you may or may not catch help with) or....do you forget the blind and fold the crap?
(Hope that made sense!)

Hey - no knocking Abba. Many a drunken evening signing Dancing Queen with my girlfriends! Absolutely fantastic for blasting out of the car on a sunny day with a car full of girlies all singing into hairbrushes - this is good stuff - great for getting me bopping along on the treadmill as well, the first 5K goes really quick with that music in my ears - strange as it may sound it has a beat that gets you into a really good walking rythmn.
Come on - admit it - you ALL know the words ;-)
Favourite Abba track is definitely Chiquita - purely because my 5 year old niece sings "Chiken Tikka" every time! Brings those happy smiley memories.
She also thinks that away in a manager goes "away in a manger, no crisps for a bed". How cute is that????
Posted by: Miffy at October 10, 2005 03:26 AM
And Muriel's Wedding is an all time classic
Posted by: Miffy at October 10, 2005 03:29 AM
3 posts in a row - that's got to be a record!
Totally off topic - does anybody know where I can download Paul McCartney singing Get Back and Hey Jude? Also looking for Elton John with Saturday Night and The Bitch Is Back(needs to be UK purchasable site)
Following the Abba discussion this is making my music taste look distinctly questionnable! Let me explain . . . I was lucky enough to win tickets to Live 8 this year and am trying to set up a Live 8 playlist on my Ipod (preferably with live tracks where possible) in order to relive the day and am totally unable to find the Elton John and Sir Paul tracks - you would think it would be easy wouldn't you?!?! Its driving me round the bend and I suddenly thought that you guys might be able to help? (would love you forever!).
Concert was absolutely awesome by the way - I now have REM playing Everybody Hurts recorded on my mobile and it STILL sends shivers down my spine. Amazing.

Hi Cori {{hugs}}
Posted by: pet at October 10, 2005 05:37 AM
Good Morning All!
Being sober means I am waking up earlier and earlier each day...guess that is not such a terrible thing, huh?
Speaking of "guilty pleasures" music-wise, my sister purchased tix to see Coldplay a few months ago and we went to see them 2 weeks ago. I will admit that I have only heard a few of their songs, but the lead singer Chris Martin, does have a soothing voice. He should make a CD of lullabies for babies. Anyway, some of their songs sound the same to me. Then, out of the blue, he BLEW my ass away by playing a song he wrote for the original man in black, Mr. Cash, called "Till Kingdom Come" and it is so SO beautiful that I wept the first time I heard it. Now is that a lack of stuff in my system or the truth....I shall tell you...a few weeks later I hear that song and I get the same reaction. It is a perfect wedding song. You GOTTA check it out...you too, Davey!
So, sobriety is still hurting, I sweat like a pig every hour or so, my muscles cramp up and my body is dead tired but I can't sleep. I am hungry but I can't eat. Everyone tells me it's the yuck yucks leaving my body...damn! One thing occurred to me...and this is a GOOD thing: repeat after me..."It's not worth it...it's not worth it" meaning I wish I never...oh well...hindsight is always great!
Have a lovely Monday, and listen to that song when you get a chancc!
Baci, molti baci (kisses, lots of kisses, in Italian)
Claudinha
Posted by: Claudinha at October 10, 2005 06:27 AM
Hang in there Claudinha - you are doing really well. Just think of all those sunrises you would have missed (there's always a bright side - so sayeth the eternal optimist!)
Coldplay are huge here in the UK. Unfortunately they seem to be really popular at funerals as well as weddings!I can't listen to their song Yellow as it was used at the funeral of one of my closest friends and still makes me cry - combined memory of her singing it at the top of her voice and her funeral. Their second album is also really difficult to hear for similar reasons.
Try Fix You as well - apparently written for Gwyneth Paltrow when her father died. I know some people find it quite sad - I find it really hopeful (but then again, I AM an eternal optimist!)
Posted by: Miffy at October 10, 2005 07:08 AM
Freaky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just turned on the radio while making coffee and Fix You comes on!!!!
I swear to God I am in one of those Truman Show situations! DN is stalking me wherever I go and seems to be on every channel on my tv at the moment, just as I am considering my next tattoo the perfect one appears out of nowhere, I post last week about chocolate being good for a sore throat and my nutritionist rings out of the blue and now the radio are playing songs that I mention here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's not paranoia - you are all watching me! God that must be such boring entertainment? ;-)

Don't they take away your membership card to the man club if you get caught listening to ABBA? =)
Thank you for answering my question regarding the photobooth exhibition. Looking forward to it. My next question is, is it difficult to go through the photographs considering the time period and what was going on in your life? or is it more of a cathartic experience?
I loved you and Carmen on CFR last Sat... great job!

WHERE is CF playing in Vegas on the 22nd? I want to come out from the east coast to see the show, but I don't want to waste my time if you aren't really playing and everyone has been quiet about it. I want to make the necessary arrangements if its on.

Geez dave, i never realised you had it bad for trent reznor..okay i had some clue! he is quite hot and talented so i can understand your man crush.
Posted by: missjkay at October 10, 2005 08:34 PM
Hi All,
I must've missed the ABBA conversation in the beginning of CFR. I guess Dave likes them? My reply is... Who doesn't? Even my husband and his buds, who fancy themselves quite macho, love 'em. ABBA rocks. They transcend all time and genres. Viva ABBA!
I missed the Trent part too. Maybe I was too busy in the chat. Sounds pretty hot to me.
Cori - Your question alone impresses the heck out of me! Makes my poker slot machine adventures in AC last night (in which I came out ahead.. woo-hoo) pale in comparison! LOL. Hope you figure out the answer.
Claudhina - Hang in there, sweetie. It may be challenging, but I know you'll make it through those "growing pains". We Italians are tough like that. :)
Love,

That's right Denise...proud Sicilian here! :D
I laughed my ass off listening the the first 30 min of CFR. Good stuff...is it always that funny? I have to admit I've only heard 1 other broadcast. It's a bitch loading them on my comp since its so f*#%in slow!! Anyways...I hope you all had a great start of your week today.
DAVE- If I was to look in your car/house stereo right now, what cds would I find? (besides ABBA of course!)
~Amber :)
Posted by: Ambersonian at October 10, 2005 10:12 PM
Hey Dave, I have a question - would you ever do an instrumental album?
Posted by: dorian blade at October 11, 2005 06:07 AM
Long time no comment but:
ABBA - Four simple letters; G H E Y.
It's not just not acceptable. It's the face of a pop imperialist facism that people who like ABBA enforce on the rest of the world. There's nothing more depressing than listening to that and yet they're one of those bands who you're not supposed to be allowed to hate. People are genuinely offended if you care to point out that ABBA are, in fact, a sign of the impending apocalypse and reason enough to strangle yourself with a dog leash.
And don't get me started on musicals. Pointing out that ABBA is now a muscial in support of your point is like pointing out that having ghonnorea is an indication you might also have syphilis.
Posted by: slutmonkey57b at October 11, 2005 06:35 AM
Hey Dave just heard Saturday's podcast and thought I'd recommend a sexy song for you and Carmen. Try "Moments in Love" by Art of Noise, it's on the 'Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise' CD. It's a pretty long song but you'll probably want to put it on repeat. ;)
Posted by: Hey at October 11, 2005 06:58 AM
Morning all!
Me again. First, I just want to clarify that I was not actually online during the beginning of CFR, which is why I missed the Abba conversation. It's NOT that I don't pay attention! :)
HEY - GREAT suggestion w/ "Moments in Love"! Awwww, man. That song is soooo sexy. A true timeless classic.
I actually was going to say that if Dave and/or Carmen want some more suggestions for deep, dark, sexy music, feel free to hit me up. :) Or check out the TPC board. There's an old post about that very topic. Maybe it's time for someone to revive it!
I, on the other hand, better get to work. Ugh. Between this weekend and the ongoing dreary weather, it's tough to get motivated. Coffee don't fail me now!
Peace,
Posted by: Denise at October 11, 2005 07:50 AM
i here ya on the coffee Denise! I just finished my caramel latte and i'm all a buzzzzz! if only i'd use my energy to actually work! ;}
Posted by: SweetMelis at October 11, 2005 07:54 AM
Denise...the truth is, I'm a wimpy card player I guess! rofl
I made it to the final table (before the "final 4" table) and the blinds were so large I was very torn...I had already invested so many chips...do I play the semi crappy hand, hoping to catch something (while investing even more chips) or just turn my back on all those chips!?!? Hubby had to keep telling me "this is not real money, they're just chips" :D
Needless to say, my indecision did not serve me well...I came in 6th! lol
Hubby got 3rd place though and the friend who invited us (it was fund raiser for his daughter's cheerleading championships) came in first!!!
I'm officially hooked! :)

My beautiful better half and I Loved the show you and Carmen did, you should do that anytime schedules allow !! We were wondering, any chance of gettin Dave Grohl to join ya on CFR??? That would be too much!! We only get ya here via podcast, but well worth it, you crack us up, your so down to earth !! Lookin' forward to next CFR !! Peace ~ Drew
Posted by: Drew at October 11, 2005 12:20 PM
Hey Dave, why is it that you and Billy Morrison are both guitarists, yet you guys don't bring some acoustics in to CFR every once and awhile to do a song together?
i think it would be rad.
Posted by: Six7Six7 at October 11, 2005 01:56 PM
Dave, would you please address the Jack Daniels "Jane Says" thing.
What's the reason?
More bills from the 2003 Jane's reunion?
Given your history of substance abuse, do you feel it's appropriate to endorse hard liquor? [Especially now that you're a big contributor to MAP.]
___Can you understand how it feels like a betrayal? When a song as sacred as "Jane Says" starts appearing in commercials.
How would you feel if Nirvana songs started appearing in JCPenny's ads?
Or if "Rain Song" was used for in an ad for wood sealer?
(Because "Rock n' Roll" is one of my least favorite Zeppelin tunes, it doesn't really bother me that it's used to sell trucks. )
Dave, playing with Usher is cool. Being on Rock Star:INXS is cool. It's not selling out, because you're being creative and pursuing new interests.
Perhaps this Jack Daniels thing wasn't your decision. Maybe it was 100% Perry.
__
On the bright side... I hope Eric Avery gets his cut. So he can keep on making music.
Posted by: Joshua at October 11, 2005 02:58 PM
Well it's teaming with rain down here in Sydney today which is certainly nice for a change!
'Rain falls, and runs down a mountain into a river. The river finds its way to the ocean. It evaporates, like a soul, into the clouds. And then, like everything else, it starts all over again.'
Posted by: KCee at October 11, 2005 03:56 PM
Joshua i see where you are coming from, but i think it would only be 'selling out' if they didn't want to do it but it was the money that persauded them and i can't imagine that being the case.
Look at it this way, the song gets played on heaps of commercials and from that one person hears it for the first time and falls in love with Jane's. Who cares about what context they heard it in, but as long as he heard it. Get the music out there i say. Get as many people as possible hearing it regardless of where they hear it. Janes was one of the most under-rated bands ever. I know it is great like that as you get a feeling that you as a fan are part of something special, something underground. But wouldn't you want to share that feeling with others?
I can also understand where all the 'hardcore' Janes fans are coming from. I am very much a 'hardcore' Janes fan (the only thing i would want more in this world is for them to get back together but hey, thats a whole other topic). But really if the band supports the decision and you don't, then what kind of fan are you?
That's my two (or three) cents. Now you can all come and attack me.
Posted by: Simon at October 11, 2005 05:27 PM
i have one question: how the hell do i find/buy the signature acoustic? i found a million sites with pics and different writing on it, but no one seems to sell it. WTF?
Posted by: zach at October 11, 2005 05:35 PM
Dave,
Will you possibly be dropping in on any INXS concerts (subtle suggestion: beautiful Vancouver)? I know you are busy but - good reunion opportunity, yes? Us concert-goers wouldn't mind, honest.
Cheers
Posted by: wanderlust at October 11, 2005 05:49 PM
okay, i missed everything it seems like. will someone fill me in on what dave said about trent? please? i have a lot of "favorite bands, groups, people" and such...but trent, trent is at the very top of that list. so i am jonesing to know what i missed.
also, simon i agree with your comments. yes, i can see the argument of dave being sober so why would he endorse a lifestyle he doesn't support? but at the same time getting the music out there is what is important. and let's face it people, the younger people (teenagers, young adults, etc.) they are going to be exposed to these things anyway, so why shouldn't they at least get something positive from it? 'Jane Says' has remained my favorite Jane's song. i have never seen the commericals either...i really do seem to miss everything.
claudhina-hang in there sweetie. really, it will be over soon. also, do you speak all these different languages or do you just like to know the word for kisses in many languages? you have used besitos which is spanish, and now the italian..i think it is cool. i was just curious. i always wanted to learn italian, but realistically there isn't a use for it here in Oklahoma.
Posted by: Heather at October 11, 2005 08:20 PM
Got this from Ever Clear's post on a message board. She said the following:
RS:INXS has gone mainstream! I was just watching Gilmore Girls, and saw this exchange....
Paris serves a guy hors d'oeuvres then asks him how she did as a waitress.
Guy: What?
Paris: My performance. Rate my performance. Be my Dave Navarro.
That is just so great. I figured you'd want to know if you didn't already
Posted by: MzLiz at October 11, 2005 08:36 PM
"How would you feel if Nirvana songs started appearing in JCPenny's ads?"
Too soon for early-mid-90s nostalgia just yet. Give it a few years... We just might see heart-shaped jewelry boxes on the shelves. ;)
Simon, you make a lot of sense. The only issue I have with great music being made into commercials is that if it's the *only* context in which someone hears it, it sorta cheapens the song. The listener doesn't necessarily get the full effect or understand the original intention of the music. But I guess the same can be said for sampling...
I guess you can't be too "possessive" about the music you love, even if it winds up eventually morphing into something else. Such is the nature of things, I suppose.
Anyhow, have a great night, everyone.

When did janes become underground? They loved all the media attention they could get. I loves my janes and anytime I hearz them on the radio or tha boob tube I get wet!!!! I just wish someone would pick up sumpthin like classic girl, Maybe I would for you, on a hallmark spot , Stop - anti-war, shit Perry could sell bloodrag for a tam-poon spot- and it would work for me- CASH IN NOW BABY!!!!! I guess what im tryin to say is when those tunes were made they didnt plan on sellin them to advertizerz they were real baby!!! It doesnt take anything away from it jest cuz kidz like us grew up lissenin to them and now buy stuff fer our kidz at the store. I jest wish they'd use stuff that wasnt so already burnt out so much!!! Zepp bugz me cuz rock-n-roll is so not them. meanwhile...currently wondering how someone who is such a smarty pants (rofl) and know-it-all, doesn't know how to spell "gonorrhea" :P
also thinking, "I didn't know gonorrhea was an indication you might have syphilis" ??? (I guess it means you probably had unprotected sex..and could have any STD, but syphilis in particular..now I'm curious, and must go forth and research this matter...)

Great answer re. leaving the chemicals behind. It really annoys me when people who are famous name names about where they get their help. Anonymity is an amazing principle & I appreciate you practicing it here.
My question:
Is it difficult working with musicians who use chemicals or do you try to find those that are safer to be around? Most of the people I used to play are big into partying & I had to leave some of them behind (and others are no longer with us.
Thanks,
Darren W.

I am bummed. They keep showing the $1,000,000 CPS tournament starting tomorrow night. I want to know why you aren't part of it?!?!?!? Your first appearance was the best. Although kissing Dennis Rodman was also something to see. . . .

Here's a hot sexy trancey deep dark beat song for you:
"Bilingual" ~ Jose Nunez
The only aphrodisiac i need is your voice
Hearing you speak my name
Beckoning me to answer
Telling me you want me
So i tell you that your the answer to every question I ever had about love
With out words I use my tongue to tell a tale about us
Tracing your shadowscape
Kneeling before you my eyes feast upon your masculinity and
All its divinity and i praise you
Because all of that is for me
I begin to indulge myself of your delicacy
Digesting semi sweet dark chocolate decadence as it melts
Dripping down my chin.
Your taste is something Godiva couldn't recreate
Needing every atom of your anatomy,
Necessity is placed upon me knowing you are the source of my serendipity
Dipping in and out of me
Stroking more then my consciousness
Subconsciously i find myself rewinding our love scenes in my daydreams
Seeing that face you make, when your making me cum
And it makes me want you right there and then
Thinking of you in inappropriate places
I get tingling sensations
In private locations
Where i wish to be caught between a rock and your hard place.
As wetness develops my legs begin to open and my smut turns to a back draft and all i want you to do is extinguish it
You know my body like the back of your hands
That touch me and send me into ecstasy
My thighs
Quiver in anticipation of
Deep penetration
Which gets me high
Body rising
Sweating
Panting
Makeup melting
Pulling my hair and scratching my back
I get a temporary case of Teretts because all i can say are four letter words in a four octave range screaming your name
Aye papi
You fucking me
Makes me bilingual
I see you tongue pink between your lips and I want it between mine
And I struggle
As you lick
Torturing me
I try to get away but
Not really
Running out of room
Begging for more
Up against the wall
That has been scuffed by my stilettos again
You pry apart my thighs and tell me to be still
And I willing submit to you because I
L-L-L-Love the way you dominate me
Demanding that I come for you
So I do as Im told
You've molded me so I good to no one else but you
You conquered this once orgasmicless world and multiplied it
Again and again
My face radiates with afterglow
My pillow scented by you
A fragranced which hunts me
My room smells of the best sex I...
Covered in bodyprints
And fingerprints of you above me
Your named written indelibly upon my body in your genetic history
You fucking me
Make me bilingual
Happy dark cold rainy October day from N.Y.C.

Hey! It's been a while since I posted here but I had to do it today... I don't presume many of you watch Gilmore Girls, but I do with my mother just because our relationship is very much like the one they portray between the main characters. Anyway, enough with the excuses, there was a Dave- reference on the show last night :) One of the girls, Paris, was working as a waitress for the first time and asked one of her clients if she was doing her job well. Her comment was 'I need a performance- review, come on- be my Dave Navarro!' ... I thought it was quite funny :) Take care everyone!!

Almost done reading "Whores", at the end where it tells how sketchy Perry was to that bassist Martyn on the last album. Can you clear up the Marilyn Manson blowjob part as well. One person states your blowing him, one says your lame for jacking him off and Marilyn is quoted saying you were trying to give him head. Does that guy cum or just let puss run? Anyway, is there any truth to this or is someone just stabbing you in the back? If so thats about as funny as cancer. At the same time heroin addiction can be as funny as AIDS so be glad your clean.
Media concerned in a bi curious society.
Ramparts clandestine, double destined variety.
Unstrung, and sung where the rest had begun.
The cum staind mattress,
mad scratches on the bed post.
Could it be?
Bukkake?
How low did one go?
What is too legit to quit,
you dont have to admit.
Always seems one gets sick,
after smokin a glass dick.
Perry describes getting head from a guy as "It was like he was eatin corn on the cobb!!"
I wouldve expected this stuff more from Queen, but hey like a Rastafarian once told me...if you wanna eat corn eat corn....if you wanna smoke ganga smoke ganga!- Dread EYE
