Just About Nothing
Down to the final five and only three more weeks of taping for the show, then it's back to work on The Panic Channel record which Steve has been going through with producer Josh Abraham. I think that all of the remaining singers are extremely talented and it's really down to taste in terms of who is gonna take the job with INXS. Yesterday I hung with the remaining five and the vibe was kind of dark as we got into another clinic to air on Sunday on VH1. Clearly they miss their friends. I have received word that the elimination shows for the rest of the season will be a full hour. My parents are coming to the show on Sunday. They are very cute and all into it. "I can't believe Ty went home! Who is gonna win? Suzie is amazing! What's Jordis like? Is JD really that calculated?" What else is going on? Really not much else. I guess I am becoming one of those bloggers who blogs to talk about what he isn't doing. (If only to start a new thread so I can keep track of your comments.) I'm not working today for sure. I'm gonna hit the gym, have some lunch and just lay around all day. Play time for a bit. There will be an "All New CFR" tomorrow night on Indie 103.1FM 6pm - 8pm PST. The show will be streaming from the Indie site, as well as loaded into the radio here and available for Podcast later in the evening. Why? Because that's how we roll. Billy and I will be a talking about the upcoming Camp Freddy show at the Key Club on Sept. 29th and what the line up is looking like. Once again, the proceeds for this show will be donated to The American Red Cross.

Dave- As, I told Billy, thanks for the public show and making it affordable. I'm flying in for 24 hours of rock n roll. See you on the 29th!
have a great labor Day

Dave, Do you find that some of the contestants were more a pop culture image of what a rockstar should be (i.e. wearing tight leather pants and moving like Mick Jagger). While, real rock stars (i.e. you) are what they are because of some inner tormoil?

A day off! That's rare for you these days!! I've been looking on the West Coast Customs site at your Grand National - really cool looking. I loved the Panic symbol on the steering wheel. And those hub caps! Now when you tour properly, West Coast are gonna have to "pimp" up a tour bus in Panic style!
Love to the people in New Orleans. I hope they get help real soon. We wouldn't accept scenes like that if they were beemed on our TV screens from a Third World Country.

hey Dave, the comments on previous post aren't closed, or is it just me..
as far as playing the race card when it comes to helping people in New Orleans, does anybody REALLY think that the government is deliberately acting slow because the people affected are black? That's crazy talk! Maybe they are slow, BECAUSE they are the government, full of chiefs, but no indians, slow to act ANYWHERE, and full of red tape.. PLUS, mucho hard to get tanks to roll through flooded streets, and you can't do airdrops of food into sewage water....

Rest up Dave... you deserve it, babyeee!
Everyone else, hope you are having a peaceful day.
Going to the pool...gonna chill for a while.
Talk to you all later...

Dave, I've always enjoyed your music but seeing you on RS:INXS has made a great impression on me. You're a very positive and supportive person and I totally dig that.
I love hearing the singers and house band. I love the fact INXS will have a chance to carry on with one of the talented five "rockers" left. And why shouldn't they????
Dave you've been "spot on!"
Posted by: Pat at September 2, 2005 11:29 AM
Just letting off some steam.
jezebel, I think it may be a bit naive to factor out any reason, even the "race card." I think the idea had crossed my mind even before the news channels started insinuating it.
However, I do agree with you that it probably takes way too long to get anything done. This has nothing to do with race and everything to do with a faulty government. Shame on Washington.

Dave you could write about nothing everyday and I'd still come here to see what you had to say. LoL

Heya Dave and All,
How is everyone today? I have been watching the nip/tuck second season lately. Have you been watching any other box sets yet Dave? Oh yeah I recieved my t-shirts yesterday and I have to agree that the medium is a tight medium but I still fit it nicely. Oh and I hope everyone has a lovely friday and holiday weekend. Talk to you later.

Hey all,
pleased to see there hasn't been any 'crazy' talk on here yet today. Looking forward to new CFR.
Peace and Love
Posted by: Tara at September 2, 2005 12:30 PM
as far as the race card goes...i don't think the gov't is reacting slowly; they just don't seem to be reacting effectively or as quickly as they could and should. coincidence that this is happening to a poor city? don't know.
dave, read any good books lately?
everyone, have a great (and safe) holiday.
peace.
Posted by: rxs at September 2, 2005 12:33 PM
Everyone is right, Dave... You deserve a break! Take it easy and do as much or as little as your heart desires.
I would make a comment about the gov't and how they are handling the tragedy down South, but I'm not there and it's too soon to really say. Were they adequately prepared? No. Should they have been? Probably. Could they have been? It's hard to call.
I just hope for the best, and hope that there is some kind of lesson to ultimately be learned from this.
On a happier note, have a nice, relaxing Labor Day Weekend, everyone! (Or is that an oxymoron? LOL)
Take care,

Hey Jezzi,
I hear yah (your last post on yesterday's blog). I made the attempt last night, regardless of whether or not I believe Jinny. She wasn't quite as biting last night, perhaps thats why I threw the line out. It's all so odd, just trying to give her a voice....
Posted by: Tara at September 2, 2005 12:39 PM
I am so happy that the next CF show will be a benefit gig. I bought my ticket last night and the girls and I are ready to rock. ;)
Will be you be introducing your parents at the show on Sunday? If so, I hope I'm standing by them. Last Sunday my group and I were right at the catwalk stairs so all of the rocker relatives had to ask us to move so they could see their respective "kid" perform. Jordis' dad was a hoot!
Posted by: Sonoria at September 2, 2005 01:13 PM
Hey Dave, lately I've been listening to Porno For Pyros and Peter Distefano's solo record a lot and was wondering if you would ever consider having him join Camp Freddy for a night?
Cheers

well Dave sweet,
As hard as you've been going you deserve the playtime...Enjoy!! Isnt it awesome that you can be just Dave to your family and yet they are intrigued by these "going to be huge someday" people you've come into contact with!! Some kinda irony there...Have a beautiful day Ya'll and a safe weekend...prayers, peace and love NOLa! You can ask any proud Louisianan NOLa is it's own World. WHO'DAT?!
Posted by: rach at September 2, 2005 01:30 PM
What was with that Jinny chicks comments in the last thread I am curious to learn more but i just figure she is delusional.
Whats this shit with Ty saying he was cut because he was black or something to the sort on the INXS show. I heard this is not the only time he has tried to play the race card. Grow up! Maybe the others are just better singers! at least in my own personal opinion they were, I was actually surprised he made it that far!
Posted by: Pinhead at September 2, 2005 01:30 PM
Jezzi,
I have to respectfully disagree with your opinion. I do "really" think that race and socioeconomic status has played a part in the way the victims of Katrina are being treated. Yes, the government is filled with red tape. And logically, yes, the roads are difficult to travel on - which makes me wonder where are these damn boats we keep hearing about?
Regardless of what has caused the incredible slowness of the coming aid, my heart just bleeds to see my fellow countrymen and women suffering so greatly and I hope to God they get the help they need soon.

Hey Dave
Just put a bit of coin in your pocket. I just received your book and will read it over the weekend. Was it just me or was Marty's encore better than when he first sang Wish you were here.. if at all possible. Suzie and Marty took untouchable classics and fuckin rocked. I am proud of suzie... my Canadian Girl... rock on Dave

Rob, I bought Dave's book Sunday, and finished it same day... fabulous book. yeah... I'm a fast reader. Enjoy.

Davey Dave doing service for my personal favorite charity. I never thought I would get so stoked over this. It's like you personally handed me a bunch of money for my charity and said "run it over there with it, Sweetheart"
Thank you for seeing the need and deciding to do something so quickly. There is just something about the tangible nature of what the Red Cross does. As imperfect as they are, they are always on the ground as soon as they can get there with big-hearted people and the basics that sustain life. I love those people.
Big hugs, and a big ol' kiss because I know Carmen will let you,

Love hearing from you Dave xx

Hola cutie... just a couple of things. When I read the comments from any given blog, the 6767 red and black logo follows down with me covering the right side of the text... I'm on a mac, maybe that's why.
About Ty... I too was sorry to see him play the race card, and more than once. I'm just chalkin it up to immaturity, the guy is SO talented and I know he will find his way in this world and learn that black, white, red or green isn't really important.
I was so impressed with Suzie... they are all so awesome, as much as I will miss the show, I can't wait for the final one, am really counting on Burnett to put you on stage with the band and all rock out with the new INXS lead singer.
Can't wait to purchase everyone's music and still waitin for the t-shirts.. I bought your CD - and got a chance to see the Rexall video on this site - you are extremely talented, any plans on touring, maybe to Tucson?
Prayers coming to you, members of this community and all the people affected by the disaster in the Delta.
Blessings,
GB

I think INXS is going to pick Marty at the end. In my opinion he's the best suited for the band. JD can also make it if the utter love he has for himself hasn't annoyed INXS yet. I hope Mig and Jordis don't get the gig because they should be doing their own thing. They're both so talented. Suzie, although she can sing like nobody's business, doesn't scream star power to me. Sadly, when this is all over, I think she'll be left in the dust.
Dave, doesn't Mig remind you of a cross between Steve Howey from the movie Supercross (look-wise) and Sebastian Bach (performace-wise)?

Were all entitled to our days to just be a veggie and lounge around, I'm sure it's well deserved.
By the way a little bit of useless info, I was paying on my cellphone the other day and the bill was 67.67. I just thought that was funny.
Take care, Mel

I got Sept.29th written down on my calender for the CF benefit show. I'm just up the coast from there now so I will try to make the trek down. I can't wait to hear who is going to be on the bill.

Hey Dave and all-
It's nice to just chill and relax once in awhile. And hanging with family or friends is always a nice treat! I'm going to be doing just that this weekend. Probably even have a few drinks or more. Maybe I'll show my best friend my new guitar when she comes out..hehehe I'll keep her up playing when she tries to sleep. I should get my digial cam and make a clip of me playing while she tries to crash.

Dave,
I don't post often, but I read your blog on a daily basis. Anyways, I would just like to say thank you for contributing to the relief effort for New Orleans. As a Mississippi resident, and as a fan, it means a lot that you are reaching out to help our area. Thank you.

Man, seeing Ty go made me choke up a bit. Especially when he felt hurt about why people didn't vote for him (because his kind of 'people' aren't popular with the genre) that melted the heart. I feel for the man. He was so badass!

Evening, folks!
Dave a picture or a "Hi" from you any time is a good thing!
I wish that there would be a recording - audio or visual - for this endeavor. I would buy one in a heartbeat. 3000 miles is too long a drive (not to mention going broke for gas) to see this concert.
Love you on the show - but you know we worship you already!
Always,
me

I had a really bad day today. A feeling came over me and I had a really, really hard time being strong. I mustered all my energy and I did choose to do the right thing, but it left me feeling a bit empty and isolated in the end. I know it will pass but it's just hard right now.
I'm really thankful for the inspiration I've found here. Especially today.
Spreading lots and lots of love,
Deena

I donated blood today @ 5:30 pm @ a Masonic Lodge over here in Southern Cali. And I will be donating my points I have accumulated on a rewards card to the American Red Cross, like I did in Feb. of this year for Southeast Asia. I was lucky enough to call CFR and score some tix for the show @ the Pond, so I promised Dave and Billy I would make a donation, which I would have done anyways, but you know------ I am in shock along w/every1 else. Just trying to help those folks out as much as I can. I remember staying in the French Quarter in April '96 and it was such a mecca for music and expression. This is so very tragic.--------with E/Luv, ck

Deanna, way to pull through! I know the feeling, been having lots of days when the easiest thing to do is the worst thing to do! But, you are right on, about "in the end" it's all about the big picture, slow and steady wins the race they say! just wanted to give you a pat on the back!!
Everyone have a "take it easy" kinda weekend! and don't drive to much, or there will be no moola left over to do anything else!!!

DEENA!!!!!! sorry, don't mean to shout, but have I told you lately that I love you! ( I know, how original)
I want to tell all my lovely ladies here how much they have meant to me, my first post was just one year ago today! I know, seems like forever!
Love to princessabby, the first Panicat I ever met my bluelizard, how I miss her so, dear, sweet, sexy Cassandra, she was the second, Brett, I remember the street corner, junie, cori, Itanja, my overtheocean sista ylais, my cheesehead bro skot, my southern belle Aimee, sweet Willow, Rain, and even the lonely and the dead guy.
I'm feeling much like I did on 9/11, I just need to tell people that I love them, sometimes life seems so futile, and then you realize how much worse it could be. Send a prayer, would you family, to the kiddles sleeping in the Astrodome and other shelters, without their pets, and their books, and the things that make them feel safe, and maybe tomorrow, send them a card
Dave, thank you for this little site I call my home away from home. I had a terrible day today, too, my colleagues broke my heart, by their false assumptions about one of my cherubs.
ok, going away now,
Hey, how come Camp Freddy isn't playing at NASCAR?
grrrrr, I mean, rrrrrrrrr

Posted by: jezebel at September 2, 2005 08:55 PM
Jezabel that was so sweet.
I was with my nephews (the lights of my life) today at the pool and watching them play with other kids, laugh, splash in the water, not a care in the world.
Then, I think of those poor little angels in harms way. God/Goddess/Spirit/Buddah/Allah bless them, that they be safe and sound from others malice. My heart breaks for them and I pray especially hard for them.
In the past few days I have read many wonderful uplifting things written by the members of this community. You guys are really great people.
Bless us, and a special blessing to Dave.
Love,

I don't know if you'd ever get around to reading all of these Dave... I'd probably just start skimming all the comments for words related to sex or something, you know, just to keep it interesting. I have to say (Even though you might not read this, although the word "sex" may have caught your attention..) is that I love the podcasts of CFR. I'm in Western Australia so CFR is live here at 9am Sunday which is whacked! So the podcasts are great to listen to and catch up on the craziness of CFR. Thanks!

Hey all hope all is well. Dave again its great you're using your celebrity to get the word out about the possible contributions.
Also in local areas (where-ever the 6767 familia) might be, if you can't give money, then there might be places where you can clean out your closets and donate clothes, canned goods.. it doesn't take long to look online at your local news site and see.
Anyone in the Austin area I'm trying to talk to the Red Cross chapter here about setting up other donation stations in the area. If anyone has any experience with that please hit me up.
