JD Wins Rockstar: INXS
Season One of Rockstar: INXS is officially over. I really did have an amazing time working on the show and I will certainly begin my grieving process today. There have been talks of a Season Two already but I have no idea if that will come to fruition or what the scope of that show would be. I can give my reaction to the whole thing now. I think that JD is a great choice for the job. His voice is suited for the INXS back catalogue, he is a dynamic performer and has the right combination of vulnerability and ego to make an excellent front man for the band. Marty is awesome and I meant what I said about recording with him (on a session level) but I don't think he is vocally right for INXS. He has more of a raw and alternative thing going on and I think he might actually be in a better position for a great career and future doing something else on his own. He toned down a lot of his stage theatrics throughout the course of the show and to be honest, I miss the scary conductor guy. As for Mig, he has lot to give as a performer, but perhaps that is better suited for what he knows best... the theater. He is an incredible theatrical talent. I will say this: So much for the conspiracy! At the end of the day, the choice was all about what INXS wanted. I never knew which way they were leaning or what they were thinking. I had to be totally neutral, plus, it aint my band. After the show we had our wrap party at The House of Blues on Sunset and the whole cast came down. Mig, Marty, J.D., Suzie, Jordis, Jessica, Ty, Neal, Brandon, Will, Dana, Daphna, Heather, Tara and Deanna. It was great to hang with them all again. After, my friend Greg and I went over to the Rainbow and threw down hard with fried mozzarella and pizza. Brooke and her crew came down too. It was kind of the end of season "f@#k it" meal. There is a treadmill with my name on it today!
1. She (Suzie) should have been given half the love that Mig got when he said good-bye.
Usually I say some parting words to the singers when they leave, but Suzie started responding to Tim before I got a chance. Andrew invited her over and that, as they say, is that. Trust me, Sweet Suzie knows how much I love her.
2. Will it be a big adjustment for you to not be involved in this anymore....kind of a post-show letdown?
Probably, but I am headed in to the studio with the TPC boys almost immediately, so I feel like I still have a full plate.
3. Can you at least give a girl a hint to the ink? Is it going to be a Panic Channel symbol?
Honestly, I won't know till I get there. I'm like that. As for the TPC logo, I'll get that the day we finish this record.
4. I have heard rumors about a 'Best of Jane's Addiction' coming out. Any chance you could fill me in on whether this is true or not?
Yes, it is true, however I don't know of a release date or what songs will be included. Let me do some investigating and I'll get back to you on this. I think it will be cool though. We never really did a proper "Best Of" record. (Actually, to me, Ritual is the "Best Of" already, but you know what I mean.)

Dave - I will miss seeing you every week , but I am anticipating a new album from you ! Just wanted to let you know. Much Love.

first??? yo dave!

First? I'll be damned. (In a good way, of course!)
Though not my top choice, I'm sure JD will do a fantastic job. He has a lot of talent and is a good fit, plus he genuinely loves the band and really wanted this. I wish him all the best.
Again, Dave, you did a great job. It was so awesome seeing you on TV several times a week... and to have everyone I know see what I've been telling them all along about you. :) You kicked ass, "dude"!
Glad you had some fun and fried mozzarella (the perfect food, IMO) last night. We sure had fun being a part of this exciting situation.
Have a wonderful day, all!
Love,

Hey Dave
You did a fantastic job on Rockstar and I am sad to see it end. I still think Mig rocked. He was the only one to really risk it on the last show. Bo Rap is one of the hardest rock star to do, and he pulled it off perfect. That being said.. INXS took who they wanted, and it is great as he is a Canadian. As far as the ink is concerned Dave...save some of your prime real estate (body) for when you have a child. I have about 12 tattoo's, and most of them came after my son was born and are of my son.
Take care Dave

JD ROX!!!! Will miss seeing you on a weekly basis but looking forward to new INXS songs!

Hi Dave,
Just wanted to let you know how great it was that you were a part of RS:INXS. It was fantastic to see you each week, and especially loved seeing you perform with the baby birds. I am so happy with the outcome of the show as I was an everclear drinker from the beginning. (Did you all toast J.D. with everclear?) I am so happy a fellow Canadian has won this thing. There is only one thing that can make this win even better. Why don't you and your new band tour with INXS too? Just something to think about.

Any chance at you playing guitar for marty on the INXS Tour? What a show it would be?

Wow, I'm gonna miss the show every week! I cant wait to catch a RockStar cast concert. Plus the CD will rock! I was pulling for Mig, but JD was def the best guy for the job. Youre right, Mig should stick to theater. I'm sure Broadway has their eye on him. :)
Good thing we still have 6767 and the Panic Community!

Dave, it's kinda sad to see RockStar end; that was such a great show and you obviously had an amazing time doing it. Any chance we'll get to see some clips up on 6767TV without legal repercussions now? Or are there plans to release a DVD set?
And yes, Ritual de lo Habitual is the Best Of! :)
Take care everyone!

Great work on the show. You're officially a big boy, now that the "F%$^&@ it" binge is pizza and fried mozz.
PS. Don't be afraid to include a few new tracks on the "Best of.." There has to be something laying around after all those years.

Hope to see you at the *hopeful* CF show for Step Up. Hit me up if you want the meager details I can provide!

Hey Dave,
After watching that last episode, I totally agree, JD was the man for the job. Actually, I kinda surprised how weak Mig's performance was... I thought he had it. Its funny, but I'm kinda glad some of the other people like Jordis,Ty and Suzie didn't get picked. These three inparticular have the potential to do so much better than what INXS has to offer... Speaking of INXS, they really should have spend more time in the rehearsal space instead of up there watching... I mean the house band just made them sound like amateurs.
I would love to see the next Rockstar do something with a guitarists. That would definitely secure you right to do the show again. No bands are coming to me off the top of my head that need a great guitarists, but man, that would be so sweet...
Please say that a "Best of Janes" album is not true. Why would you do that? Dave, no offense man, I love you bro, but can't we just let Jane's live on in our memories. Don't get me wrong, Jane's is absolutely my favorite band of all time, but it will never be the same, for better or for worse. Everything post Avery was a letdown man, not saying I didn't like Strays and the other stuff, its just that I could never whole-heartedly buy into without Eric. It took me a while to understand why in the world he wouldn't want to come back, but now I have a whole hell of a lot of respect for him...
Dave, move on man, you are a amazing guitarist and you have a smokin' band now. Don't make me say you "sold out" LOL. Seriously, grab that guitar and give us our next "Ritual" via panic channel. Peace.

Dave - Thanks for being so cool to Marty (and the other rockers)throughout the show. You may have met my wife Liz (Marty's sister) last night at HOB. She's coming home tonight so I'm looking forward to hear about the post show bash. I hope you guys get a chance to work together again! Rock on.

I will miss the show, but must say I feel ripped off. Why is it the slacker/bad boy always wins?
JD is doing a Hutch impersonation, just like he used to do Elvis impersonations. When JD plays himself, he sucks. Hence his up and down performances. Big mistake on INXS' part - they are in for NOTHING BUT Hutch comparisons now. Well, they did it to themselves. Sadly, I am no longer interested in the album or tour. They had me, but they lost me.
Bad ending to what was a great show. Loved you Dave, and hope we'll see you on the small screen again soon.

I couldn't agree with you more on their choosing JD. I'm shocked that so many people over at the board are so anti JD. It was pretty obvious that he could deliver INXS songs the best and his voice just works. Marty is an amazing vocalist, but for another band.
Not to mention JD's amazing stage presense.

All I could think of last night, was how I wished I could have been the lining if Dave's jacket!!!! yummy

One more thing. Dave, from all your comments here and on last night's show, it really sounds like you got a lot out of this Rock Star experience. I'm truly happy for you! :)
Posted by: Denise at September 21, 2005 12:20 PM
Dave,
Your analysis is right on. Mig was completely inappropriate. I’m so glad they didn’t allow comments on his final performance. Marty has enough going for him to run a David Bowie career path. Let him be the scary conductor for now. JD will do a great job and if they invite Marty on the tour, they’ll tap into multiple fan bases for a winning business model. Great season!

Hey Dave:
I must say, I think JD played the game well and deserved to win the "prize". He appeared to adjust to all of their comments through out the course of the show; when they told him to tone down the weird stage antics he adjusted. When they let him know he was being a bit of a jerk he adjusted. I am not surprized that he won and I think he will do rather well.
I have been a long time fan of Janes and I think that a best of album is a great idea. I personnally would love it if you guys included a couple of new tracks. I liked Strays, I liked the sound that the band had developed over the years. I look forward to a TPC release and hopefully a tour that brings you down to my neck of the woods...

Hey Dave and all,
Loved the show last night. My father actually watched the last 3 episodes with me. We thought Mig would have won.
My Dad mad a comment saying that they should have picked Mig because he was the favorite, as seen by audience voting, he said that INXS would sell more records because the public favored him.
My response to him was at least you know they aren't being sellouts, yeah they could have picked Mig for record sales but they obviously didn't think he was right for their band. I respect that they didn't pick on popularity as that would have made them sellouts.
Dave please tell me if you recieved my drawing? even PM me on the panic channel if possible. Not like I can send you my first drawing of you again, I would just like to know if it is lost forever. Thank you.

Gotta agree with that Bonita the last segment really sealed it, he did fit right in. I'd say that after Ty and Jordis went, it was getting to be the JD show and other than extended focus segments on some others earlier than that it sort of was the JD show all along in hindsite. What fun to sound wise after the fact.
Well, good luck to them all! What a fun time watching and living vicariously the road I didn't take. I hope they do some more!

Dave...this comment: "As for Mig, he has lot to give as a performer, but perhaps that is better suited for what he knows best... the theater." is totally uncalled for! I have been a supporter of you all along until now. I am so tired of hearing this. That was his "DAY JOB" so to speak! You are the ones that could not get over the fact that he had done theater... not us! We saw a new star born, and NOT in a theater sense of the word! A ROCKER sense of the word! YOU were the one who were jonesing for him to do a ballad, and then you all gave him nothing but grief and mixed messages. I have heard his demo he did in London, and it's anything BUT "theater"! I REALLY wish all this "theater garbage" would STOP!!!!!!!! Give him the PROPS he deserves!!!!!

i think a "best of" janes CD is awesome and once again Dave, when do you project TPC to come out?
Posted by: hector at September 21, 2005 02:10 PM
Hi Dave,
I thought for sure Mig was a winner from the start, I think what hurt him was that he was never in the bottom 3 and he never showed INXS he could sing their songs. Mig totally rocked "what you need", I think he had the look and the talent. But I think INXS chose a safe person (J.D.) and didn't want to change there musical style by picking Marty Or Mig. What do you think? Yoli

Hiya Dave, hi y'all! :D
Rockstar INXS was an enjoyable show. I was hooked.
Well done with the show Dave. (and you're very naughty for eating fried food and carbs! :P ) Sounds like fun though!
As long as INXS are pleased with JD, and it was their decision, we all knew that all along; then I'm happy.
It's all over folks.
Onto TPC!!!!

My favourite was Marty all the way and I'm actually really glad he didn't win as he would have ended up not being true to himself. He just didn't fit INXS and I'm sure they knew he needed to go his own way not theirs.
I think they chose well with JD, he certainly fits their band and maybe without JD having to compete for the top spot he may not feel the need for the game playing.
And I'm sure I'm not alone in being 'so happy' the Mig conspiracy was proven to be absolute bulls#!t!
Take care all xxoo

Dave, thanks for answering my question. Maybe, then you can get a tattoo that commemorates your mentor role, like a Don't Change, or a Mother Bird, lol!!
It was great seeing you three times a week, and, like I said before, I think Rockstar:The Cult, would be a perfect vehicle for you and the Billys!!

Dave, So glad you were on Rockstar as you gave the show a human touch. Season 2 seems equally as preposterous as Season 1 did when I first started watching, but i was amazed how the whole thing grew on me.
'You're just not right for our band' had me in stitches every week, until I started liking the singers.
Will miss you muchly Dave, you are definitely made for TV screens. Who will Season 2 be around? Nirvana? Sacrilege.

"and to be honest, I miss the scary conductor guy. "
me too.
I agree with everything 'Neida said. J.D. had become the obvious choice and like I said before, Marty's onto big and better. I think some people are forgetting who INXS is and what they do. They are rockers only in a very loose sense of the word. I'd consider them more pop then anything; and Marty Casey is alt. rock.
Speaking of which, no offense but Lorraine- tell me your joking. TPC is to INXS as apples are to oranges. Heck I'm a 30 year old soccer mom and even I know that! ;)
I totally agree with Dave's comments on Mig as well. Couldn't have said it any better! And I don't think it was a dig at all. Clearly he's talented- no doubt- he's not, however, INXS.
Looking forward to whatever's next, for Dave, for Jordis, for Marty, for Suzie...
:)

MiG is Broadway; JD is rock. Watch JD try out for "We Will Rock You" and see how far he gets.
They are both very good at what they do, and wrong choices for what they don't do. Here's to success for them both, and all the others who put it out on stage for the fans over the past weeks and months! Great show! Now give the house band a vote in RS2, so we can inject a little sanity into the voting system....
Man, I hate it when people come on here and just talk about RS:INXS crap.

I guess it all came down to what INXS wanted to do, move forward or rely on a back catalog. And now they have the option of haveing elvis open the show.
I really loved the show. I hope they do another one.

Hey Dave
I've met a couple of nice people (they know who they are) because you were on RockstarINXS. I may still be a newby, but I will be around. I think you did a great job and at the end, INXS picked who they wanted. No matter what, all of the performers were talented and it is one of the few shows I will miss watching from this past summer. Stay cool!!!

Dave:
Just wanted you to know what a pleasure it has been to see you on the show every week! You really have proven that you don't have to be a jerk to be a rocker. I personally worry about INXS' choice. If they were looking for a long-term bandmate, I'm afraid they may have chosen the wrong guy. It looks like JD would be extremely difficult to work with and, while he says he's changed, no one can change overnight and I imagine he'll back to his old tricks again in no time. JD may worship INXS right now, but eventually he's going to have to realize that they're human beings and fallible - just like the rest of us. Maybe I'm being pessimistic? In any case, Dave, I would love to see you back again for RockStar II! :)
My best,

Dave,
I agree with you on Marty. I miss the scary conductor too. Marty was always my favorite, but three days ago when I started to think he was going to take it, I realized that I wasn't sure if I wanted him to win. I love his stuff with the Lovehammers. I think INXS could have been very very successful with him, but I just don't think they wanted to go in that direction. Second place was a true win for him, IMO. This way he gets to open for INXS getting world exposure, but still do his original material (and hopefully go back to being Rocker Marty).
I am really going to miss you on my TV each week. You totally rock. I signed up for the Camp Freddy podcasts. I really enjoyed the last one. You guys are just too funny. Love it. I loved the conversation on the coffee bean drama. Can't wait to see what you do next.

To all those who say JD sounds like MH...how's that bad? You want the INXS classics to be treated with respect. JD can bring his sound and style to the new stuff.

Hi Dave,
Even though (or perhaps because) you look like Satan, you totally kick ass. I can't believe the season is already over. It seems like just yesterday we saw JD masturbating on stage and Dana doing her brilliant imitation of a dying seagull.
And regarding Suzie, I think the look on your face when she got booted said everything. I really really thought she'd have been in the final three. I know INXS was open to having a woman front their band, but unfortunately, the fans just weren't behind it. Either way, she's going to have a brilliant career as a professional wrestler.
And yes, I think it worked out great for Marty. I didn't want to see him compromise his style to fit in with the band. He's much better with the Lovehammers. Maybe he can get that David Elsewhere guy to go on tour with him.
http://www.milkandcookies.com/links/13782/
Anyway, overall, I think they made the best choice with JD. He just seems like the best fit for the band.
Any chance you might tour with the band? Or maybe play a few guest appearances with the Lovehammers or whoever they have as their opening act?
Posted by: zombiejebus at September 21, 2005 06:11 PM
hey Dave.
Any chance their will be a little Jane's reunion tour or something after the best of album? I never got to see Janes live, I became a fan literally a week (7 days exactly) after you put up the blog saying you, er, broke up... I'm still holding out that I'll see a Jane's Addiction show.
Seperately, Any idea of when the TPC album will come out?

Dave, I miss you all already. This Summer I found a piece of me that was lost under raising kids and mortgage payments and too many birthdays since I was a teen. That passion for a rocking boy and a great band that JD and all of you woke up in me, turning me into an obsessed Rock Star INXS fan. There is something about that boy that brought out a part of me that I didn't even know how much I missed. I look forward to a bright future for all the competitors and I thank you for being such a charming host, even though I did come by to complain when I thought you were all being mean to JD, sorry about that, I told you he turned my normal sane, adult self into a love struck kid. What a fun way to spend a Summer, guess it's back to dishes and balancing the check book for me. Wouldn't it be wonderful though if they decided to do a weekly show following the progression of JD and INXS, learning to get along, write songs, deal with press and pressure and finally watching them take the stage for the first time on the world tour. Can you make that happen for me Dave? I really am not that ready to go back to sanity, I am spoiled now and want to stay and play some more. Love You!

hey dave - do you ever get a chance to check out any up and coming bands perform?
if so - any you would recommend?
i am always looking for great new music, and there is nothing better than catching a band at a small venue before they "make it" (hate that expression, but couldn't think of another way to describe it).

Yay! A Best of JA cd coming out. That's great!
Love you Dave

When I heard J.D. start singing "Easy Easy" last night, for the first part of the first verse, I totally heard Hutch. That says it all to me!
Anyway... totally bummed that we won't have music to look forward to on weekdays anymore, but it IS Fall tv season time, so it's probably for the best.
Good luck finishing the record, don't forget to mention me (the cute li'l black girl) in the liner notes. HA!
Peace and... bah you know,

Dave,
Just wanted you to know that your presence on the INXS gig gave me (and probably others) a chance to see Dave in a different light.
Thoroughly enjoyed your commentaries.
You have made my list of desirable men.
Look forward to seeing you doing more of your thing as well as participating in the forming of other interesting and addictive media events.
Perhaps I shall even buy some of the music you do. *smirk*

Hi Dave and everyone else here,
Show was great you were great and I am so sad that it is over. I think JD was the best choice. I didn't like him at first but he kind of grew on me. I also really liked Marty. What an emotional show.
Can't wait for the Janes greatist hits to come out.
Dave, I never chatted anywhere before I started watching the show and then I saw you. I have been here ever since and even tho the show is over I will be staying around. You are an awesome person. I wish you and Carmen all the best.
Can't wait for another chat session. Hopefully I won't be working.
Lots Of Love and Hugs

Hi Dave,
First off, I do think you're a nice guy. I don't think it was meant as a dig, but if you know someone is trying to pursue their dream, it isn't that kind to say that they're probably better off sticking to what they know best. It's fair to say Mig still has things to learn if he wants to be more successful as a rocker. (And perhaps I'm overly sensitive... I worked a job which I did very well, but which I did not like. It took a while to learn a different set of skills so I could leave; however if someone had told me to stay with what I knew best... Anyway, blah, blah, blah...) Good luck with all your endeavors! It's been fun watching you on the show.

Seeing how I only caught two episodes of Rockstar INXS, I have to thank you because I didn't know who had won. But, based off of just two episodes, JD was my choice.
I really like reading your opinions on the others. Nothing like an opinion from a TRUE rockstar.
Here's to hoping you don't have withdrawls from the show and a sweetass TPC album!

Hey Dave and All:
Did you see Jimmy Kimmel talking about INXS and yourself tonight in his opening segment? He was saying how you were always so nice to the singers and never seemed to have anything negative to say. Then they showed a bunch of clips back to back of you saying what a great job they had done with their performance. They must've shown at least 7 of your comments, they even had the Ty-riffic moment in there. hahaha...I had a good laugh. :) It was fun to revisit all the funny little moments again and the outfits! (I'd forgotten about the huge fur shawl thing you wore early on) Good stuff...

"There was music in the cafes at night, and revolution in the air."
Dave, there is a HUGE MOB of angry Tribbl--umm, I mean MiG fans who are furious over how MiG was snubbed by you and OB:INXS on the finale. Yes, I know it was editing, but somebody had better issue some kind of press release or something. These folks are really unhappy about it (and justifiably so).
Posted by: jamie at September 22, 2005 03:32 AM
Jamie, it's a show that Mig CHOSE to be a part of. A "reality" show at that. If fans are mad, they are silly and petty. There are far greater things to be mad about in this world.
Editing or not, Mig chose to be on a show.
P.S. This is NOT a personal attact of any sort. Just an opinion like yours. So please don't take it as some sort of attack.
Posted by: Jenn at September 22, 2005 03:39 AM
Dave,
It was great to have you visiting in my home everyweek. I will be sad that, for a while, at least, you will be just a video tape playing. Hope you get another co-hosting gig so you will come back to visit. If your ever in the Pittsburgh area, my door is open for a real visit.
Always,

P.S. I missed the strange conducter guy too!

Dave...did you see Martha's Apprentice last night, Too Cool...Cat Fights!! and the closer, 'you just don't fit in', OUCH!!!
I remember what this guy used to say to me....let gooooooooo! Come on, mean comment makers, did the show say "Dave Navarro Productions"? MOVE ON!!
jezzi(sour grapes,lol)
Posted by: jezebel at September 22, 2005 05:25 AM
Well, I am glad that JD won because that means that I get a weekend sans husband and kids! :)
I didn't understand Mig's decision to do Bohemian Rapsody. Yes, it is a hard song. But he performed this song in the Queen musical, so I don't think that he did take a chance, but he went with what he knows. My husband said that his performance of that song reminded him of watching theater. I have to agree.
It is a reality show. Plain and simple. No one needs to apologize for anything. Do they apologize on Survivor when someone is kicked off? Do they apologize on Big Brother? There is no need to release a press statement apologizing to Mig. There is nothing to apologize for. He didn't make the cut.
Saying that someone should stick to theater isn't an insult. It is an observation. Mig has an incredible theatric quality. Obviously, since he has been so successful at it. Saying someone is good at what they do is not a bad thing.
When I watched RS:INXS for the first time, it was the week JD sang California Dreamin'. I knew then that this was the guy that was right for the band. A lot of people are upset about his win based on personal aspects of JD, not based on the professional aspects. JD continued to blow me away. He arranged music. He stayed true to his vision. And he learned a lot along the way.
At the end of the night, though, it is about what works best for INXS. In listening to Marty's performance and then to JD's, there really was no comparison. Marty is hella talented. His talent is just for a different venue. He has already had success with Lovehammers and his success is only going to keep on growing. It was a win-win in both cases.
At any rate, this was a competition and an audition. I won't throw a temper tantrum because someone I liked didn't win. It's not my band. It's not my choice.
Any, just my two cents on the matter.

AWWWW! Man! Shirts really ARE sold out AGAIN!!! GEEZ! Well, I guess you have to get right on it if you really want one!!! When will more shirts be available to us wanting them sooooo very badly? Come on Dave , your public is demanding and we all love you so very much.Don't stress it man, even though we are so demanding and wanting of you and all that you are about, we are ,in the words of Marty,"patiently controling." Just poking at ya Dave it's all good baby.Love you much!!!
Posted by: shawna at September 22, 2005 06:10 AM
Perhaps my earlier comment was not specific enough.
The anger of the MiGsters is *not* over MiG being "not roit", it's (mainly) over the facts that (1) no Q&A with Dave was broadcast, whereas there was Q&A with Dave for both Marty and JD, and (2) no "proper goodbye" was broadcast after he was eliminated.
There are a couple of lesser issues as well, like the rather questionable 3-2-1 elimination process within the 1-hour finale.
None of these things were the fault of DN or INXS (since a 2-hour show would have had time for all of it), but these omissions in the broadcast have offended a lot of MiG's fans. Every other contestant got their proper goodbye televised, and he didn't. They feel like that was an insult. It's a valid gripe. If I were in the band and saw this, I'd post some sort of message to MiG's fans apologizing for the cutting-room insult, just to restore good will. 'twould be a small thing, but appreciated by many.
Yeah, I know, it's only a "reality" (LOL) TV show. But the level of irritation is quite real. I'm just suggesting it would be wise to say something. I could be wrong, but I've been staving off the seething horde for a few hours on Dave's behalf. Just thought he should know.
Posted by: jamie at September 22, 2005 06:22 AM
Dave...did you happen to catch Jimmey Kimmel last night?
He had a little fun at your expense...said, instead of Simon criticizing everyone, RS:INXS had you...who loved everyone. They went on to show many clips of you telling various rockers that their performance was the "best ever"....then said if it was up to you, INXS would be the size of a College Football Marching Band because you would have chosen every one of them to be the new lead singer.
It was actually cute...and pretty comical :D
Have a great day!
Posted by: Cori at September 22, 2005 06:34 AM
Marty didn't get a "proper goodbye" either.
Amanda touched on something I meant to the other day. Mig picked the MOST theatrical song to perform for his finale. If you don't want to be pigeon-holed as just a theatre artist, you DON'T sing a rock-opera song. Yes, it's rock, but it's also opera. Opera=theater! Just a bad bad choice on his part. Strategy wise. I felt like I was watching a Broadway play seeing him sing that. It was great, but in-appropriate! (besides, Suzie did it better! More rock, less theater)
But, this will be my last comment on the RockStar INXS. it's over, and they picked who they picked. JD will sing the back catalogue with respect and a familiar sound, and hopefully take the band in this new era they are talking about. If not, what the hell, they tried, I got to remember how much I loved INXS and I got to watch Dave a few times a week. Win/Win as far as I'm concerned.
Posted by: SweetMelis at September 22, 2005 07:34 AM
Amen on that last paragraph, sistah Melis!!
Posted by: Mechelle at September 22, 2005 08:11 AM
I just looked, and it doesn't say "SOLD OUT" in the store 13, so, if you didn't get your shirts yet, i'd try again.
Posted by: SweetMelis at September 22, 2005 08:15 AM
Melis, that's an interesting point about Marty not getting a proper goodbye on air, although being offered both axework from Dave and a touring partnership from INXS would sort of seem to make up for that; MiG got neither (at least AFAIK).
I'm probably coming across as a whiny MiG fan, but I'm not. SuZie was my horse in this race. I just think it would be wise to at least think about making some amends here.
This will be my last post on the subject too, unless I do another one.
Posted by: jamie at September 22, 2005 08:23 AM
Oops...should have caught up on the comments before posting...sorry to be superfluous! :D
Posted by: Cori at September 22, 2005 08:33 AM
Seriously, my last comment!!!
Jaime, I see what you are saying, BUT let's look at the bigger picture here, Anyone of the final 5 or 7, got so much exposure, (thanks to INXS), I think they will get over any formalities, such as "a propa goodbye", they might have been slighted on, since by now, or at some point VERY soon, they are probably sitting in a recording studio with a producer who might not have ever heard them. (not to egg you on any further, I remember thinking, at the time, that when Mig left, it all happened real fast, and it looked like he went right over to the other contestants before they(INXS) could have invited him over, but that was probably just editing)
P.S. Nice to have a discussion, and not be heated!

I dont understand, how is it going to be a season two, if they already have a siger, unless they dismissed him and try to find a liead singer again, hahaha..... twaht they could do is a realshow like: the nwe beginning of INXS, some like that, that shows the recording thing, andsome concerts and the next album release, and all that... coz rckstar inxs 2, is no good, that makes you think of the show, like it was, u know , a lot of people try to be inxs....

Diane
Posted by: Diane at September 22, 2005 10:06 AM
OK OK, but this one will be REALLY short, LOL.
2 things. 1: it's not the singers who are upset, it's their fans. It may all blow over on its own, but maybe not. 2: it WAS the editing to blame! That's why the apology would be so easy and painless.
And, I don't mind constructive criticism. I'm a big boy. :-)
Oops, that was a 3rd thing. Ehhh, no extra charge.

so, if it WAS the editing to blame, shouldn't you be looking for the credits, and find the EDITOR's blog, or the PRODUCER's blog to voice these complaints, cause, last I heard, Dave was IN FRONT of the camera, not in the control room.
ok, I'll stop too, Marivic, go to shop 13 thread at Panic community, many people have modeled the shirts there!!

Hi Dave,
Great job on the show. It's not surprising at all that JD won because he seemed like the best fit. I never really understood why people thought he was such a "bad boy" on the show. Big deal that he was competitive in the beginning and kissed the band's ass. Does anyone know the meaning of "bad boy" anymore? I think too many American Idol fans were watching the show because people expect Pollyanna to win that show. There was no way Marty was going to win this show because he doesn't have that great of a voice, and he was way too grunge. Nice guy, but definitely not right for INXS.
Posted by: Nice at September 22, 2005 11:28 AM
I posted a question on Sept.17. It appeared under the name Jessie, but it was from me (glitch in the translation??) I basically asked for your thoughts when you first heard Pretty Vegas during Week 5 song writing clinic? It looked from the clips that both you and Andrew were quite surprised.
WELL, I heard that Andrew and J.D. were on Enteratianment Tonight Canada (I did not see it and it is not broadcast in the U.S.) and Andrew said they basically knew it was J.D. after this clinic.
IMO it is going to be a monster hit, and you guys knew it immediately. What say you????

My 2c....
MiG was a Feral, not a Wiggle (duh)
His BR was brill - glad he did it coz I got to see it.
I believe he didn't win coz his destiny is to introduce Panto to America.
Season 2?
Gotta be a new Midnight Oil frontman doesn't it?
Another sad Auzzie story of frontman loss.
No, Peter Garrett didn't actually die...but he did drink the KoolAid & become 'one of them'...& he almost drowned at Maroubra (personally I think he tasted bitter & the surf threw him up)
Stop knocking Dave for 'loving everyone'. These performers were all already talented (unlike Idol) so it's ok to think they're good.
Cheers!

FOR THE LOVE OF CARMEN
Jenny commented that since she was no longer married and isn’t seeing anyone, she pleasures herself frequently. She admitted that she even did it while watching one of Howard’s E! shows recently, but that she was thinking about Carmen Electra, who was his guest during the episode. Jenny claimed that she was so turned on by Carmen’s appearance that she cast her in “Dirty Love. She went on to say that she tried to get it on with Carmen during the shoot, but that Dave Navarro has her so whipped that Carmen wouldn’t go through with it.

My hubby and I were actually at the recording for the final show. Going into it I was sure Marty had it in the bag and my husband was rooting for Mig. However, after J.D. had won and the recording was over, we had the pleasure of seeing a mini INXS concert. It rocked! They absolutely picked the right guy!
Dave, you posed for some pics with a long stemmed rose during some downtime of the recording. Any chance of you posting one? I couldn't help but turn to my man and say "that's F@#king hot!" (With no disrespect of course, he understood).

This is what was in the sky Thurs night:
Rocket Launch from Vandenberg AFB Thursday night (9/22) watch the sky to the west at 7:24 pm if you are in California, or even as far away as Arizona, Nevada, and Mexico. Within 16 minutes of that time, a rocket will launch a DARPA satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base. The missile exhaust is water, which forms ice crystals in the cold upper atmosphere, catching and splitting the sun's light into rainbows.

Yo Dave,
Thoroughly enjoyed Rock Star:INXS and, though I prefer Marty, JD was a better choice. Marty would have been far too restricted in what direction he wanted to take the band. Mig is a fantastic performer, but is more theatrical than band material. With Marty as solo, he is able to perform how he wants to, not how INXS want him to, which is what performing is about, what's on your mind, not what brings in profits.
Sadly as a previous poster said, JD will be a Hutch-Impersonator, instead of JD. He seems to be good at impersonating. From all the times he tried to be himself, he came across as too cocky and arrogant.
