Here's What We Think Of Your Conspiracy

I have always been a fan of conspiracies and the unexplained. Kennedy, Area 51, Scientology, Loch Ness, U.F.O.s… Rockstar: INXS? I never thought in a million years I would be at the center of such a controversy! As you know, I usually don’t defend myself all that much here, but now that there are accusations being thrown at my friends and co-workers, I am happy to respond. Theory #1: Mig Ayesa is a ringer and he was added much later in order to win the competition. I can tell you for a fact that Mig has been in the competition from the start. True, there were 14 singers at the start of the show, but the 15th that was added late in the game was a female. Theory #2: The voting is rigged. Now why would anyone do that? After all, this decision comes down to INXS and they can send home or save whomever they want at any time. The voting is to see how the public is feeling in order to help make that choice, but in the end, the band can always over ride something they don’t agree with. Rigging the voting just makes no sense. Theory #3: The show isn’t live. Well, nobody has ever said that it was. In fact, every week I post about how I’m going to a taping on this Sunday or that Wednesday. Theory #4: My comments aren’t accurate. Hey, I call it like I see it. Rock is very subjective. What works for me may not work for others. How long do you think Lou Reed would last in this thing? Not long but he is one of my favorite singers. Bottom line? I’m not in INXS so what do I have to gain by lying about what I am seeing and hearing? Theory #5: Too hard on J.D. Well, I’ll say, when he is a jerk, I hammer him, when he does well, I am fully supportive. Nobody else gets hammered because they don’t exhibit the behavior to warrant it.

At the end of the day, I am having the time of my life watching these kids grow, do great songs and getting to know them and all the people I work with. Watch it or don’t, we are all having a blast!

Pissing on all those accusations, hahahaha, like it.
I think the real test will come after the show is over and whomever is picked will start they're time proper with INXS,will the public accept this line up,will the public accept INXS without Hutch, time will tell.

Nice! Behind-the-scenes info, and a lovely "behind scene".

That certainly brightened my day. Thx!

now Dave, what will we talk about on the messages boards now. Come on dude, you know u like us going crazy trying to reinvent OB INXS. we luv u dave, and our band!

Haha. There's always conspiracy theories about reality shows. I've worked on 3 of them (as a lowly production assistant...aka Glorified Gopher), and although it's all about the editing in the end, they can only edit what has been taped, you know?

I love watching you Dave. You're the "Paula Abdul" of the rock world, and I really mean that in the nicest way possible. I sense your compassion and caring for all of the contestants. Rock on!

Posted by: Cy at September 9, 2005 12:05 PM

Yeah, the show is getting stressful, I can't figure out whom I like.

From NETFLIX rent DIG! Brian Jonestown Massacre and Dandy Warhols documentary, really good!

Posted by: sleastack at September 9, 2005 12:11 PM

YAAAYYY, Dave!!

You said everything I was going to post(except for the part about Mig)

You too, Claudia. I even wrote the "bottom line! " No kidding!

I just wanted to add for the record, I happens to agree with Dave’s opinions…even the time he got booed. That’s why I’m here today.

And I wanted to add they seem very forgiving at times when the singers come in at the wrong time like they do at times. I don't think anyone has been unjustly criticized. (I have an ear for music too):p

Another 'pee-pee' pic Dave? lol

Wow, Mig looks so tiny! He doesn't appear that short on the show!

Anyway...I'm just trying to enjoy the entertaining performances without having to wonder about conspiracies & such.

Exactly, who has the time to worry about such nonsense!? In the end, it is INXS' choice.

After having read that Mark Burnett has some recording deals lined up with the last five contestants, I figure this contest can go in many different directions beyond helping INXS find a new singer.

There are actually no real 'losers', especially if these last five singers are already making connections & deals. The worldwide exposure has all been VERY positive for them.

I have my own 'theory' about the ending....that perhaps no one will be picked from this particular group and there will be a "Rockstar Two".

Has anyone honestly even thought about that?

Perhaps the INXS guys won't be fully satisfied with the final performer(s) and will have doubts? Have INXS signed a deal stating they MUST pick a singer, even if they truly aren't 100% satisfied or sure??? Something to ponder.

See you in NYC, hopefully sooner than later.

Have a GREAT day!

Man, it's a groovy show, why would someone bag on it? Morons. Seeing as how MiG hasn't put on such great shows (yeah it's subjective), I wouldn't say he's a ringer. Screw the naysayers!

Long live rock!

Btw...I had a strange dream about you last nite. I dreamt you had 3 extra nipples in the center of your chest and I was touching them. Why? No idea...but it has bugged me all day! LOL

So Dave, what happened to all of last nights posts?
I thought Scandal McKenzies long winded, over-blown, crackpot conspiracy theory was somewhat entertaining. Though with all the real evil going on in the world, I don't know how reality tv shows topped this guys list of priorities.

Dave, just a thought.... How does it feel to be imortalized as a Cartoon in the Beavis and Butthead/RHCP video for Love Rollercoaster?

Het Dave

HAHAHAHA too funny. One request though.. next time Mig and You should be sitting in adjacent stalls... better effect and all. Off topic, went and seen Pearl Jam last night and the new Arena in Winnipeg, MB Canada. 17,000 stong.. awesome. They even did a tribute to Neil Young (From Winnipeg). 21/2hrs of great rockn' roll. That being said, there is no excuse for you and you band to come up to Canada to perform. We would love it. Question: Are you into Pearl Jam?

I never thought Mig was a Ringer. But I do question the lack of constructive critism given to Jordis. Instead of always throwing the well you didn't do so good, or you are so young comments, I feel you guys did her an injustice by not critisizing her and giving her helpful comments. I am not trying to be mean, I just know that you especially Dave, would have done the girl some good by being a little tougher on her during the show. Having said that, I look forward to seeing what you have in store for Jordis, as I know that you will have some effect on where she goes. I would love to see the two of you on a stage together, you are a perfect musical match ! Rock on Dave !

Tougher on Jordis?

Jordis was tough enough on herself. She knew when she did bad, but I think Dave was right, she lost something....maybe she felt that she was following the wrong path.

Dave, you are such a TOOL!

You look like you want to blow the guy next to you...

Just admit that MARTY was screeching on "Everlong". Admit that he knew he couldn't sing the song, so he tried to adjust the compisition in hopes of hiding what he lacks.

Admit that you are getting some from SUZIE. It's obvious since she gets praise when she is as sub-par a singer as Jordis is.

And speaking of JORDIS, you performed with her a few weeks ago? Conflict of interest maybe?

MIG is such a bubblegum popsinger I'd say that he'd be better in a band with you. Two effeminate a$$holes with no talent.

HEATHER was the best choice, but you guys were stuck in "good tv" rather than a good singer.

Failing that, J.D. is the best choice to lead the band. They need someone with his talent, youth, and innovation to bring this dinosaur of a band into the 21st century. Admit that you are jealous of him, and that's why you try to put him down.

You get on him because at times he deserves it, and the others never have? That is an idiotic comment. He's more rock & roll than you ever were. He's fresh and very talented. he shakes it up.

Personally, I don't like him. But I know he's much better for THIS band, a ROCK band, than the other three.

It's ONLY because of these "teams" that Mig & Marty are still there (IF, as YOU say, Mig didn't already have the job ahead of time).

Are you saying that SUZIE is the ringer, the #15 singer? Did she blow her way into the job? She isn't a rock singer at all. Showtunes & ballads yes. Rock anthems, no.

You are a tool, and you aren't well respected. Here's your fanbase:

Love the conspiracies, still have to point out what we'd been saying all along about the show focusing each beginning section on trashing JD hurt his performances. Look what happened the first time you all skipped the bash and went right to the songs, right out of the ball park! I don't think anyone felt JD shouldn't be treated honestly, if he messed up talk about it, just after the perfomances that's all, not as the last things he'd hear before hitting the stage. Let the playing field be even. You can tell how much words effect him by how afraid he was to hear his fans comments, that was soooo cute!
PS, I used to listen to Lou Reed a lot way back when and loved him, I'd listen to him especially when I wanted to wallow in depression, one day I said enough of this crap and snapped a record in two (much easier to accomplish with the old vinyl records then with today's little cds) to snap myself out of the type of spiral that you can only be in during those angst filled teenage years. It felt powerful at the time, of course I had to go our later and buy another copy.

Anyway, get this INXS show out of the way and bring on Rockstar Two..Van Halen...get eddies head out of that bottle of smoking loon wine and get it in gear! forget Sammy "all i wanna do is sell tequila " Hagar and David Lee "I wanna be a Paramedic" Roth! get VH a new singer that will work with the boy!

I hope JD wins this competition, hes the only one that has "it", Charisma!! he knows how to work the audience, hes got the vocal chops and there is the talent thing too! he has been awesome redoing the songs hes selected and pretty vegas Rocks.. Dave,

I was going to comment on conspiracy theories, and point out that the simplest answer is tippically the right answer...and then I read the comment "Mike from NYC" posted.

Is it me, or is this Mike guy a little too emotionally involved with both this show and your comments there of? Not just emotionally involved...but apparently pissed off and directing all of his anger at you... As if you should apologize for voicing your opinion or had control over anything that happens with the singers.

What I do not understand is, if this guy does not like your blog or how the show is going....why does he keep reading, posting, and watching? Find a way to fill your time Mike, a hobby might help distract you and diffuse some of that anger...try working out dude.

This has brought up an interesting question. It is patently obvious from reading Mike's post that celebrity attracts the nutty. Have you ever had to deal with a trully nutty fan in person?

Mucho amor, loco

Fact #2. I loved Jezzi's post.
Fact #3. I'm having a great day...how 'bout you?

Posted by: Bonita at September 9, 2005 01:52 PM

Heather was good at the start--but she started to fall apart--her vocals were slipping big time.
I had voted for her at the start--but once she started to fall apart, well, my votes went elsewhere. Everyone has a bad night every now and again--but a few times in a row..enough of that!
I think that's why Jordis got the boot. She seemed to be falling apart.
And yes--People are going to keep voting for their overall favorite-even if they have a bad night. That's just the way it is. Or people may vote for the "hottest"...Or "the bad boy"...etc. Everyone has their own reasons--but in the end..It's INXS that has the final say. Ya dig?
Marty has been pretty consistant with me--so he gets my votes.
Have a greta day all-

Thanks for the defense!!! You ladies rock!!!

Posted by: Mike from NYC at September 9, 2005 02:05 PM

Dave,

I never believed the voting was rigged by the show itself. But there are flaws in it and the people who figured it out are taking advantage to keep thier favorites from the bottom 3. Yes, the band chooses in the end but you can not deny the obvious advantage of being one the last three standing.

Mig a ringer? The more I hear him, the more obvious it becomes that he is not. :-) Suzie mentioned in a audition interview that she had problems making it to the audition due to scheduling difficulties...so my guess is that she was probably the 15th person.

While I certainly don't have a problem with JD getting hammered for being a jerk, why aren't the others hammered when they act like jerks? For weeks, both Marty and Mig made disparaging comments on air about JD behind his back and they never got called on it. MiG made fun of Ty's "being black" and he was never called on it and yet Mig's own fans thought he was mocking Ty. Too bad they didn't learn this lesson at the press clinic. While I don't believe you have any thing to do with the editing of the show, hearing anyone talk about another behind their back and then be pushed as the good guys leaves a very bad taste in *my* mouth.

Thanks Dave I have really enjoyed your take on the show.

Posted by: itanja at September 9, 2005 02:11 PM

Dave,

What's up? I want to throw my 2 cents in here on this Rockstar: INXS thing. I've been watching since the first episode and I think it is pretty obvivious, now more than ever, that Mig has the gig. Here's why:

Suzie- She can sing and I personally love her voice. Its not as good as Jordis when Jordis is actually trying, but still good. The problem here is that she is female. Now, there's nothing wrong with that in its self, I love females... "I just don't think she's right for our band INXS".

Marty- I'm still trying to figure out why this guy is still in the running... I mean, that crazy shaking thing he does when he scream/sings... Not knocking him, but I thought they should have kept Ty instead.

JD- OK, so JD is holding a close second now, but I think his lack of working together with people good be a major problem. I've been in bands with people like this and no matter how talented the person is sooner or later you get sick of their shit.

Mig- I could just go the easy route and say "because he's an Aussie", but really, he has yet to be in the bottom three. Logic would dictate that the fans like him and if I were an aging band that was looking to break back onto the scene... just seems like a safe bet. All that aside he is good, he can sing, he can play, and he has stage experience.

Guess we will all see soon enough...

OK Dave, back to what really matters. I've been listening to you since Nothing Shocking came out. I have always been a big fan and I think its really cool you are keeping in touch with the people here. So, here's my question for the 10:

I have noticed that your playing hasn't really evolved much from the "Good Ol' Days" of Jane's. Not that this is a bad thing because you've always had great chops. It just seems like you pretty much rely on the old tried and true pentatonic and dorian rock licks. Again, not necassarily a bad thing because I do the same thing... Anyways, to the question. Do you still practice the guitar and try to learn new styles, licks, chords, etc. or are you happy with the level you are playing now and just "jam"?

*swoon* I'm in love with you (and your beautiful wife). Man, you've got a fine ass.

Oh, point: the conspiracy theories are ridiculous and non-sensical. However, you must be doing well when people start making up conspiracy theories about about you and the show you are on. I might be tempted to do the same if I wasn't so busy focusing on other...asspects...surrounding the show. (Lots of "ass" jokes this week...)

Posted by: rxs at September 9, 2005 02:32 PM

Hey, what difference does is make how the voting is done?

INXS are picking who THEY want to be a lead singer for their band. As they have been picking people to leave from the bottom three, they will always get who THEY want.

The voting thing is just for interaction and to get people interested in the show.

The real tools are the ones who are posting all this "Rock Star:INXS" isn't fair.

I started watching the show because I like rock music and read in an interview with Dave that there were going to be some good rock songs on it.
And you were right, Dave!

Hey all,
I am at my fathers house in NJ right now. I stayed in Philly for 2 days in a hotel, but since it gets to expensive, we have to stay here. My father had a triple by-pass on Wednesday and he seems to be doing very well right now. I will be staying out here for a month to take care of him, which kinda sucks because I really miss my husband. But I would rather be here if my Dad has another emegency. Anyways I would really like to thank everyone for praying and there wishes for my Dad. But we are still not in the clear, just want to say thank you all though.

"Scandal", you are the same guy who posted nasty comments on Marty's blog about how he should lose and how you are in love with JD! Dude, you are pathetic!

Dave, I love that you cleared up those "theories" because personally I'm sick of hearing that Mig is a ringer. It's getting old!

I loved watching you on stage Wednesday! Brooke's right, you are one of the hottest men in Rock n' Roll!

One small favor to ask - if Marty doesn't win, will you make sure his band, the Lovehammers, get a record deal? They are so amazing. If you haven't heard them yet, you don't know what you're missing. Keep rockin' Dave!

Dave... thank you for that blog entry. I've been getting myself so upset seeing all the HATE going on with the boards. I can't believe people would actually think that MiG is a ringer, he's such a great talent in so many ways, but people see and hear what they want. At least his fans are loyal (obviously!). I know INXS will choose the right one for their band, it's their decision to make and I have total confidence.

Playing devil's advocate here. I think that does have a point. He points out a possible conspiracy involving Mig and what happens? A pic pops up of Dave & Mig. That seems to give the rumor some credence, if you ask me.

It is true that we don't see the actual vote tallies. It is true that by showing the preliminary vote total at show's end spurs voting.

It seems to be true that when more singers were there that the criticism effected the votes.

BUT when it was five singers left you just knew that the top two vote getters would be the two with teams of people voting mutiple times. That isn't a true representation of the vote because 1 person could vote a few hundred times in the timelimit. These teams of voters have even found a way to get around the timelimit by adjusting their clock on the computer. How honest is that?

Another point is that a person still votes for their favorite singer even if they did a poor job. The votes should go to the performers who did the best on any given night. Voters remaining loyal to their favorite even though they did poorly doesn't do INXS any favors.

Marty & Mig were assured to be safe because their teams would vote until their fingers bled. This isn't a valid result, but a skewed one. I don't think Marty has a strong voice or even a good voice. Mig doesn't seem right someway. Maybe it's because him & Ty were a part of WWRY productions and hardly seem to be the idea of a struggling artist gets lucky that the show promotes.

If Suzie was allowed to get in by means of special treatment how fair is that to the other 35 people who didn't make it to the show?

If I were chosing I would choose JD. But my vote doesn't seem to count in the sea of Mig & Marty fans. The encore vote proves that JD has more fans. That was a onetime vote and couldn't be skewed by multiple votes. JD had more singlecount votes and won the encore. Marty & Mig had fewer voters voting mutiple times. Enough times to keep them from being in a position to be eliminated.

INXS has saved Suzie when the voting was in her favor. That is INXS saying they don't care about the voters or their opinion. It would be more obvious if they had vetoed the skewed voting and made either Mig &/or Marty sing for elimination.

With four singers left that means teams behind Marty & Mig will keep them safe unless INXS changes the way the elimination happens from here on out.

I think it's a tarnished process because of the teams of voters. I lost respect for INXS because of this because they seem to be turning a blind eye. Then Dave goes and basically says "I don't give a fuck what you say or think" by putting that pic up of him pissing. To me it says he is pissing on us the fans who pay his salary & give him his lap of luxury.

That's just my two cents though. I'm sure people will attack me for speaking upfor the other side of the opinion.

Hi Dave.

There are only two people in this competition who have the 'it' factor, J.D. and Marty. (After Wednesday night's show, I can't believe for the life of me that the people who voted for Mig were watching the same show I was!)

As for the voting, the fans of some contestants have figured out how to manipulate the voting. I was on a message board where a fan (of someone who was not in the bottom two Wednesday) stated that s/he had already been voting for SIX HOURS before the show had even started! Many of these fans have even indicated that they don't want their favourite to lead INXS. They just want him on their television screens a little while longer. IMHO, this week's encore vote was a much better indication of who fans feel would be a good fit for INXS.

Go J.D.!

Hey you guys, don't get too bent out of shape over the "haters". Really, overall, this board has gotten very little of that. I think the best thing to do is keep in perspective, and better yet, try to ignore it.

I've only seen the show twice (sorry Dave, I seem to have a profound aversion to anything 80's), but I'm with Diana that Marty seems to fit the bill the best. I just think he can come the closest to sounding like the original INXS, and isn't that what it's about? Personally, I never understood why there were any women in the running from the start, let alone how they got so far. Especially Jordis. I couldn't imagine how someone could be further away from sounding like they should front INXS than she did. Actually, I think that about most of them. I guess that's why I'm going with Marty.

Go Marty!

hey hun, with ref to theory 5, if u ask me u should be harder on jd, dont get me wrong, they guy has talent, but hes not in the same league as the others. also, hes annoying. sorry jd. fair play for responding to the rumours, but hey, even if the thing is rigged, it still rocks like hell! if u do have any influence can u please ensure that if marty doesnt win he goes on to do something, he has an amazing voice and an extreme amount of talent!
lots of love n feta filled olives! xxx

Hahaha, I think thats so cool all the conspiracy theories have gotten around to you. I heard you lurk the TWoP site and the new RB boards so it's cool you've addressed them. At least that should settle SOME issues!

However, there are some other ones out there that are a lot more interesting and with very good explanations... I'd like to hear some of those solved as well!

Cant wait to see the next show. My vote goes to JD 1 million %.

Posted by: CJ at September 9, 2005 04:37 PM

just had to add: was i watchin a different show? theres some random a few posts above bein a complete cheese face about u, one has to wonder y he went to the trouble of writing to u if he really considers u a tool? his level of intellect and musical knowladge are beautifully highlighted by his support for heather and jd. i have no musical talent and therefore no room to criticise but neither one deserves to win, theres a reason she was voted off! also people abusing migs performence? do they no which one he is? hes the hot dark one with the abs and talent! come on guys, if ur gonna post about the show at least care enough to know which contestants which. lots of love dave! (excellent picture, everyones said it, they were right! hot ass!)

Posted by: hari at September 9, 2005 04:38 PM

Hey Dave, totally agree with you on those 5. For those who want to complain or protest about it, what do you actually achieve? It fixes nothing and it surely does not help the process, if anything it creates more tension. As far as 'music idol' shows go, this is by far the most 'down the middle' show around. It is the most far, the most true and by far the most fun to watch.

In addition, as for the people who say that some contestants are only lasting because they have ‘teams of people voting for them’ well that is quiet possible. Moreover, if any of the contestants are doing that then good luck to them. Wouldn't you be doing the same if you knew someone in the competition? However, in the end, it does not matter how many people that they have voting for them, they all have to face the chopping block eventually and if they have just got through on their team an no talent, INXS is probably just waiting for the chance to get rid of them. In the end the true person who best fits the band will win, the contest and the voting has been arranged that way.

Question: Dave are they all still gathering at your house for 'Friday Night Poker at The Navarro's'??

Posted by: Simon at September 9, 2005 05:09 PM

Dave
It is rather sad that you think you need to defend anything about the show. I think very little of the theories have made sense.

Opinions are great....it makes us unique.

"I've only seen the show twice (sorry Dave, I seem to have a profound aversion to anything 80's), but I'm with Diana that Marty seems to fit the bill the best. I just think he can come the closest to sounding like the original INXS, and isn't that what it's about?"

Actually we don't know if that is what it's "all about". lol

An interesting point is.....it's never been discussed publicly by INXS if the existing members actually want a singer who sounds like the late Hutchence.

OR if they are looking for a singer (male OR female) who will actually try to bring them OUT of the 80's and into whatever is happening now in rock. Are they looking to expand their fanbase or get a whole new one?

IMHO opinion......the current state of rock seems to be a bit of retro flashback to so many eras.....60's, 70's & 80's....from the sound of the music to the clothing styles, it's all been done before. The idea is to make it fresh for a new generation.

The current generation has to inject rock music with their own take on the many styles already incorporated into rock.

I personally haven't been following any INXS or Rockstar messageboards, except whatever we've been posting here & at TPC...frankly, I'm pretty clueless as to WHAT the INXS guys are striving for in their new singer.

Perhaps INXS can pick BOTH Suzie & Mig (or Marty) and they would have a whole new sound?? OR do they want to keep their 'old' sound, including a similar sounding vocalist??

For example.....INXS wrote the music for that song JD performed, correct? JD added the lyrics? Then JD emulated Hutchence in the vocal. Is THAT what they want...glorified karaoke ?

Suppossedly the songs for their new album are already written, yet we don't know what sort of songs they are. That also means, they expect very little songwriting input from their new singer for his/her first album with them.

Shouldn't songs be written with the TYPE of vocalist they actually have in mind??

Hmmmm, that sounds like yet another conspiracy 'theory'! loool

Wait a minute, hold the fucking phone! You mean to tell me that Scientology isn't real? Damnit, I just gave all my money to some dude at the "Center of Enlightenment". Something about thetans. Son of a bitch.

Oh, btw, I DID blow the guy in the stall next to Dave. How do you think he got the gig in the first place?

I know nothing I say here is going to mean jack to anyone else. At least I'm realistic. But, I just wanted to comment that, as a viewer of the show, the passive-aggressive behavior has been a real turn-off. Yes, I like JD very much, but even I'm not blind to see his asinine behavior sometimes and to be bothered by it. But it's felt to me, for weeks, that almost everyone really dislikes him and are afraid to really say it. I don't know if this is intended to make things go more smoothly with the show, but it feels very fabricated.

Posted by: Lesley at September 9, 2005 06:01 PM

I'd like JD more if he were a different person. He's great except for his personality, singing, disposition, maturity level, selfishness, looks, the way he is when he drinks, the way he is when he doesn't drink, and overall persona. Other than that, he's my boy!

Posted by: Lyn at September 9, 2005 06:08 PM

Hey Dave! HOT pic! How tall are you? I didn't think you were that tall (nothing bad meant by that!! My hubby is only 5'8) But my God, MiG looks tall to me on tv and in this pic he looks a lot shorter than you. I could be wrong, but I didn't think you were that tall. Anyway....Hot pic...had to say it twice!! Love when you add new pics of you! And who those negative comments on here...my God if you don't like it, don't watch it! Get a life!

I´m going to see NIN and Pearl Jam for the first time at the end of the year here in Brazil!!!
I´ll be in LA for 5 days from the 25 to the 30 of September...any chance TPC playing live on one of these days????? That would be awesome!!!!!!!!!

I wonder how INXS are going to deal with having a new singer do their old songs live in concert, with someone who doesn't sing a little like Hutchence?
I know they've done shows already with other singers; but if this new person from Rockstar sings the old songs so differently that I can hardly recognise the song, that's a problem. For the new material it may be fine. But damn it, you want to recognise the song, and go "Yes! I love this song"
when you hear it in concert. Some of the contestants 'interpretations' of the INXS songs make the song sound so different. Honestly, a couple of times, I wouldn't have known what song it was unless INXS had said which one they had to sing...until the chorus when the words were more obvious. All songs are open to interpretation, of course, but this is about INXS, doing their original music on tour.
I said a while back on here, that they may choose two people, perhaps a man and a woman. I think that would work better myself.
Can INXS say, "No, we don't want anyone from this show?" I guess what they want, and what they can choose to do, is what's baffling or unclear about Rockstar.

Posted by: ylais at September 9, 2005 06:51 PM

Dave, please explain to me then, why Suzie was given the same song that she had already performed in a previous elimination round & Inxs again gave Jordis a downbeat song that wouldn't highlight her abilities? I'm not saying you had anything to do with this, but I lost respect for Inxs with this.

Posted by: Hershon at September 9, 2005 07:00 PM

Scandal 1 word 4 U---loser.

Posted by: Carly at September 9, 2005 07:01 PM

Perhaps INXS wanted to see if Suzie had improved on that song, and they could tell easier if she's progressed by giving her the same song. That's just a perhaps. But it is their band afterall. So it's their decision. They probably had good reasons. It may help if you imagine them auditioning people for real without the whole world watching.

Posted by: ylais at September 9, 2005 07:18 PM

You even urinate with style! Sweet.

At this stage of the game, I'm all for Suzie. I think having a female singer would be a refreshing change, and she's awesome in so many ways. I adored Jordis, but I think she's such a massive talent that even by being in such an awesome band like INXS, she wouldn't be doing herself justice. She's going to fly high on her own.

Spreading the love,
Deena

Posted by: Deena at September 9, 2005 07:33 PM

I have to agree with Marty on dragging INXS into the future. For me the "golden oldies" are bands like INXS, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. A lot of the song selections on RS-INXS are retro era stadium anthems, from the Cretaceous period. I sometimes have a little trouble relating to them. I'd like to see INXS pick up the ball, and run with it. Not just be a touring 80's band, stuck in the past with a new lead singer. Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of retro era Led Zeppelin tunes being done. Because hey, if you're gonna go retro, go with the best !!!

Posted by: LostBoy at September 9, 2005 07:38 PM

Not gonna touch the bitterness that's been posted. Yikes....

Have to say that I was REALLY apprehensive about the show - to be completely honest. I was of the school of thought that no one can replace Michael and they should change the name of the band if they're to go on blah blah blah....

I LOVE music. Lots of my friends are musicians & I'm always going to shows, so some co-workers of mine thought for sure that this show would be right "up my alley" ....and it turns out, they're pretty much right on.

I've truly enjoyed watching this group of singers grow and learn from each other, the clinics and themselves. I've also enjoyed watching everyone bond and enjoy their time together.

I won't say who I want to win this thing cause it's not up to me. What I WILL say is that there's a certain person who needs to check his frickin' ego at the door, but that's a gimme. I wish them all the best and I hope that, wherever life takes them, that they'll be able to look back upon this time as one of the best of their lives.

I know that sounds ridiculously idealisic, but how many chances do performers have to get up and jam w/ one of the most kickass bands ever?!?

take care,
Brandy

Posted by: Brandy at September 9, 2005 08:36 PM

"Some of the contestants 'interpretations' of the INXS songs make the song sound so different."

And if that's what they end up with, they'll go nowhere. I don't know what they're thinking, but the only audience INXS will ever have is those that are willing to pay for a babysitter to go hear the 80's pop crap that reminds them of when they first got laid. So if they don't end up with a singer that can do good covers of the original stuff, forget it, they're done. Bet on it.

Posted by: Dana at September 9, 2005 08:36 PM

JD Wins, who cares about his shitty attitude.
This hasn't even seemed like a compitition to me.
there is no fix in but I think INXS made their decision weeks ago.
And if they go w/ anyone else, they'll end up getting fired and JD will be back. He's just the OBVIOUS choice. Peace!

Heck yah LostBoy, I'd love to hear them do some Led Zeppelin-as long as it's not Stairway To Heaven...Cause I get the feeling they would jump on that one, and I'd like to see something other than that one..heh

Hi Dave
It's so cool that you're doing The Panic channel as well as RSINXS. I wanted to tell you about one of your newest fans, my four year old son Tadziu. He watches RSINXS (well the performance show we Tivo for him because that's past his bedtime), and he was just jamming with you guys playing air guitar on Wednesday, watching your moves. He asked me if you teach people how to play guitar and if so could you teach him. I had to give the little angel a big hug and let him know that you live in California, and that's a long way from Chicago. He said that's ok, when he grows up he'll ask you. The link I put up there is for my website, but Tadiu has his own if you want to meet your little fan (I need to update the pics). http://www.geocities.com/tinnekke

Thanks for being so cool.

Dave: nice style there, making auditionboy use the kiddie urinal. Way to be the big shot "rock mentor".

"Hey kid, if you're still here next week, I'll let you 'distress' my next pair of designer jeans for me."

(Disclaimer: I'm not actually mad at Dave, I'm just a jealous no-talent loser like the rest of you.)

*MWAH* You rock, oh PPoD!! This entry was well timed & lurve the pic. I've been so happy these weeks being able to see my INXS boys & you on the same show!Just tired of all the conspiracy crap, etc. Keep it sexy, babe! Carmen is a lucky woman!

Tinneke, what a cute baby you have!!! He is adorable! My nephews are also into Rockstar and they too wish to become guitarists, drummers, singers, etc. I love it. I encourage them to follow whatever they have a passion for, because you never know, I could end up being the oldest auntie roadie out there, following my angels around! LOL.

Actually my nephews are very very into Marty and they think Marty will win...outta the mouths of babes...

Posted by: Claudinha at September 9, 2005 09:18 PM

Maybe they SHOULD change the name of the band. Nobody could really replace Michael, it just won't be the same. Look at Creed changing their name since Scott isn't there anymore. Same basic sound & style, different name.

Since there are three brothers in the band, what do you guys think of the name FARRISS WHEEL?

Posted by: Sarah at September 9, 2005 09:19 PM

Hi Claudinha

Yes, he's an angel. He was really sad when Ty got sent home because he was a huge fan of Ty. However, he loves Marty, and he's doubly excited since Marty is from around here. That little stinker can already sing Marty's original song 'Trees', but he has a phonographic ear like Mommy.*grin*

LOL Diane/FRI13th

Even Led Zeppelin can't stand to hear, "Stairway to Heaven" one more time.

Ok speaking of Cospiriciys, Dave being a Pink Floyd fan, you may have heard that if you start the "Dark Side of the Moon" CD on the third roar of the MGM lion on "The Wizard of Oz", you get some really startling and mind-blowing synchronisations happening.

It's a synchronicity known as the "Dark Side of the Rainbow". I was wondering if you knew that people out there belive there is are synchronicitys between
"Ritual de lo Habitual" and "Star Wars: a New Hope" (start the CD after the floating space text fades out)
and "Nothing's Shocking" and "The Empire Strikes Back"

Was this intentional Dave?
