CFR Streaming/Podcast
Tonight's CFR has been loaded onto The Panic Radio thanks to Chase and Robert C. The broadcast is also now available for Podcast.
So, I saw Emily Rose tonight. I gotta say, it wasn't like a typical horror film. It was kind of a court room drama with flashbacks about possession. In fact, you could say that in this film, possession is 9/10 of the law. (Forgive me, please.) Jennifer Carpenter was really incredible in the roll of Emily.

Hey Dave,
I was just curious if you were an Opeth fan, or if you've listened to Ghost Reveries? I personally think you should check it out, it's quite an excellent album. Also, I also was wondering to what books do you enjoy? Any specific authors? Thanks,
leighton

**DAVE**
Ok I have 3 DTTAH questions for you, I hope you have time!
1. Did you ever get to the bottom of Mr Young and his pager, or did it turn out to be one of life's many mysteries?
2. Are you and Neil close, do you guys catch up at all?
3. Do you know approx how much money your book has raised for M.A.P.?
You know what...I was so not expecting to laugh throughout your dark tale but how funny was pg 201:
B- Do they like plan it out in advance, and kind of tell her what they want her to eat?
D- Dude, I don't know.
What a discustingly funny conversation you were having! Love it!
Waiting in anticipation for the final RS-INXS week. :(

hey dave. hows it goin? i just wanted to be like everyone else and say how much i respect you and what a huge inspiration you are (as a person and a musician) sometimes highschool can be really brutal, and its guys like you that inspire me to keep on keepin on.
oh and i actually do have a real question about the solo album. i was wondering why it was such a departure from janes style. i absoutly love everything about it (i like it more than janes almost....thats pretty much heresy to say isnt it haha) but im just curious if you really wanted to experiment? or if you had always had the idea? it seems almost space rock to me. very production based, the drums have a very distinct style, the songs are atmospheric. its hella tight man.
psyched for the panic channel stuff too even though i havent heard much of anything...would you guys ever play a hurricane benifit up in seattle if a couple other bigger bands were already on the bill? we have a bunch of connections to various bands (if your interested icould giv eyou a list) and i really want to do something to generate a large sum of money, and it seems liek this would be perfect. all the kids in my area are so selfish that they cant even give 5 bucks, its pathtic, and this would be a great way to do it! or if not with pc then maybe with camp freddy? since i think jerry (cantrell) lives up here anyway? haha i know youre a busy guy, just htought id ask... :) and once again. thanks for being one kickass dude!

I'm still having trouble getting into the chat room. what is the password for the actual CFR room?
Posted by: missjkay at September 18, 2005 03:31 AM
Hey Dave,
I was wondering if anybody knows any podcasts worth listening to besides The Panic Channel!
Posted by: Pointless Thoughts at September 18, 2005 04:02 AM
DAVE~~~Can you talk a bit about what is going on at the Key Club tonight, and what your role is? You are listed as appearing with 'members' of INXS, Do you have any more details?
The final taping is today, right? I have some Prozac I am willing to donate to the cause!
I am glad you liked "Emily Rose" I wanted to know what is with all the scenes from the trailer where people's faces seem to melt, a la Munch's "The Scream". I LOVE Laura Linney, is her role more like Primal Fear?

Sorry I didn't know what 32's were. Haha...I also didn't expect to go on the air. Thanks for the laugh. We knew the answer to the question for the song, by Inner Circle, someone had to answer it...haha. I didn't think I would answer it to the listening body. I didn't know what the prize was...haha. It's all funny. If I ever venture it again, I'll prepare for it!!

Yo Dave,
Just thought I'd like to share with you a little ironic goss.
I'm a guitarist playing in a band down in Australia. I recently went and saw a red hot chili peppers cover band play in my local town of Canberra (the nations capital).
I ended up hanging out with the dudes after the show and since then kept in touch. Recently there guitarist has broken his arm and cannot perform for some time.
They kindly asked me to fill in for him , while he gets better..But because of my macedonian ethnic background, I thought I could mimick you more that mr Frusciante.
I was going through some old rhcp tape from woodstock 94, and noticed how cool you looked!!,
So I have copied your woodstock outfit with those cool 'George town' shorts and 'chux taylor' shoes, tottally rocking dave....
We have now introduced 'warped' and 'shallow be thy game' in to the set (aeroplane, myfriends and cooffe shop are there to) and have gone all 'one hot minute' flavour while i'm in the band. Pretty cool huh!!
It's Ironic right at the time of One hot minutes 10 year anniversery.
ps. You should endorse your own Chuck Taylors.

Dave,
I heard you last night on CFR and would like to say I was at least listener # 9. I don't think you guys talk too much. Who's really tuning in to listen to music? We want to hear you!
Diane
Posted by: Diane at September 18, 2005 05:39 AM
There was about 20 of us at one point listening to CFR and chatting about it in the chat room. Good stuff. Deep discussions. Some stuff about older women, younger men, four poster beds, and spankings. At least that's what I caught of it. Have a great Sunday everyone.
And Dave, 9/10 of the law? You're silly and I love you. You and Billy together make me giggle. Actually, that sounds pretty glorious.
Hmmmmmm..........

I so liked Emily Rose .. I thought the Actors were great and that the stroy line was well told. I wasn't expecting it to be a court room drama but everything flowed well. I think that if you didn't believe in demons before it would make it a definate possiblity now... It was a great movie, Great discussion movie about religion and all that stuff...
*sighs* would have loved to cuddle up next to you during the movie ..However My hubby would have to cuddle up to Carmen.
anyhow ... I reccomend the movie ...

I'm kinda at the other side of the court, Pet. I hated Emily Rose. Actors were fine, but the writing was lousy (IMHO). I went expecting a horror film (expectations will get me every time), so I think that added to my lack of good vibes on the flick. It's just not a horror film. It's a court room drama that uses a potentially scary subject, and then drops the ball. They 'explained away' all the good parts of the film, which was like dumping a bucket of water on it. I came away thinking, she had epilepsy, not a possession. Which for a horror film isn't ok.
Ah well. It's not a ty-riffc film (ducking & hiding now). I went wanting Linda Blair, so it was probably doomed in my view from the get go.
Posted by: Kate at September 18, 2005 08:46 AM
Kate I would agree I went with more expectations of a horror sci fi flick ... but I was pleasantly happy with the outcome... I walked away wondering if I would wake up at the witching hour... and wonderings about demonic posession.... However If You want to see a really really good movie about Possession... I reccommend The Possessed It has Timothy Dalton in it playing Father Bowden.. it is based on the exorcism of a 8 year old boy who is still alive today. Great Flick. I also suggest " The Order" with Heath Ledger it is about the " Sin Eater" very very good... and if you like thoes Check Out " Primal Fear" with Richard Gere and Laura Linney. I believe ... I think she was in that movie as well.. a lawyer ...
ok I am off my at the movies soapbox
love

Heh, I was gonna say - "possession is 9/10 of the law" "Ty-riffic"? Dave, the tatts aren't fooling anyone, we know you're really a closet dork.

I really dont wanna see that movie... even the commercials freak me out. I did see March of the Penguins the other day with my mom. It was alright. Anywaysss Have a nice dayy!

Hello!
How is everyone today? Missed CFR and the chat last night - there was in impromptu party for the hubby - his birthday was Friday, so last night we did the dinner out/party thing.
Dave, just wondering, did you get your car back? And wondered about how you are feeling - today is the recording for Rock Star INXS, right? I wondered how it went today.
Always,
me

Hey everyone,
I lurk and don't post very much (just shy I guess), but enjoying it here. Keep forgetting to chime in with a recent Netflix rec - Chopper. Don't have time to wander back through all the old messages to see if it's already been discussed, but...really good movie. Not usually my thing, I'm more a March of the Penguins kind of gal, but this "based on a true story" film about a charismatic and engaging psychopath is really a good watch. Good DVD extras - some documentary type footage of Eric Bana going to meet with the real Chopper. Yep, probably the most likeable crazy criminal you'll meet.
Oh and a quick question for Dave. About to get my first tatoo, to mark the end of a long road. I'm planning a trip to san Fran and LA...any recommendations for good tatoo artists?

Emily Rose was an incredible movie. Here is a link to the story behind Emily Rose. I thought it was quite interesting.

I'm curious if you like horror flicks OVER gory flicks? Personally, I love horror films. Amityville Horror still gets me everytime.
Can't wait for Tuesday's show! Although, I'm sure you already know who it is...lucky lucky man!

hey dave,
any truth in the Jane's "Best Of" rumours?
thanks.
Posted by: jane's fan at September 18, 2005 03:29 PM
Pet, I absolutely agree, the one with Timothy Dalton is perfect, the Order was excellent too (anyone remember the Twilight Zone with Rodney MacDowell as the Sin Eater...freaked me out). The bit with the bed in Emily Rose reminded me briefly of The Entity, which is probably, still one of the scariest dang films I've ever seen.
Posted by: Kate at September 18, 2005 04:15 PM
Katie I must agree with you there.
Primal fear has the great scene and dang it I can't think of the actors name played the laywer in PPl Vs. Larry Flynt. ... shoot!! any how... that is a great movie about the everlovin mindf*#k as well..
Oh what is that actors name... someone it is going to bother me till I know..

Yes Bonita, the chat was very interesting.
I want PINK! :D
Posted by: ylais at September 18, 2005 06:10 PM
Hahaha Ylais--I think that is what caught my attention last night. Sometimes I need to be poked with a stick (to get my attention)--and that talk you guys were doing--well, that was like being whacked with a hammer. ;)
Posted by: Diane/FRI13th at September 18, 2005 06:14 PM
lol. Diane. I've just thought of a unique way to use pink fur handcuffs.
Posted by: ylais at September 18, 2005 06:34 PM
Hey Dave, just wondering if you have an audio or video clip of Jordis' performamce with Camp Freddy? Could you make them available in the Downloads area?
Posted by: rms at September 18, 2005 06:50 PM
Be sure to tell me what it is, if you're in the chat next week! I like "unique" ways. ;-)
Rockstar is soooo coming to an end. The show on VH1 tonight was good! It will be neat to see Mig sing his song.
I was still a bit surprised yet not(if that makes sense) see JD show up kind of unprepared.
I don't know--does that make him good if he does a good job when not preparring? I would think like any type of meeting you'd want to get yourself a little familar as to what to expect or present to someone. *shrug* Ok--so I still hope Mary wins..heh..or Mig for that matter.
Posted by: Diane/FRI13th at September 18, 2005 07:13 PM
Yah--that would be "Marty" not "Mary".
and have a greta night all--Yes Great night.
Posted by: Diane/FRI13th at September 18, 2005 07:14 PM
any idea if the show is live?
Posted by: Claudinha at September 18, 2005 07:16 PM
You mentioned "Emily Rose"? It brought to mind one joke, the only joke I can remember which was told to me by a priest. [What happens when you don't pay the exorcist? Answer: You get repossessed.] Yes, that was bad, but just thought I'd share it. ;) I generally chat at INXS.com, but thought I'd take a peek at your site. Nice site, but wish the chat was more readily accessible. Suggestion for Mr. Navarro: Do a rock talk show. You're really good at this hosting thing, and thank you for the great job you did on Rockstar! God bless, and best wishes to you and yours. Toodles....

Hey Dave, one question: Does Carmen follow what goes on at 6767.com ie. reads the comments and stuff?
I s'pose in a way she doesn't really need to as she is probably with you when a lot of the stuff happens, but hey.

Watched the movie "Crash" yesterday and I really liked it. Love those kind of movies. Also loved the mexican one- "Amores perros".
Dave - Ihave a question for you....Have you ever worked with a swedish director - Jonas Ã…kerlund - while doing a musicvideo?
Thanx and love always, Emelie

Hey Dave,
I would be remis if I were to not rag on you about the "9/10ths" line, suffice it to say that you are cheesy but good... It's ok to be a closet cheese-ball =)
I was lucky enough to catch the chat this weekend and I must say it was rather amusing...had a ton of fun. Thanx to everyone who laughed at my jokes! Hopefully we will get to do it again soon.
The live webcasting sounds great! Just make sure it is firewall friendly for those of us enslaved by corporate America...
You sounded great on CFR this weekend.

right.so id really like to know the answer to my serious question.seriously.i know its not reality tv or apparel related but im making a real effort.actually not so much because im just gonna copy and paste from before.im sleepy. but id still like to know, im a little concerned its just all fairy tales because its so unlike your goodself (hows that for ass kissing?) to not seize every possible oppertunity to shamelessly self promote.so here goes.ignore away.
No need to delete this one, not that the other one was so bad, but i have a legit question for dave navarro king of comebacks. i mean no harm. naturally your my last choice of person to ask this to but who else is there? theyre either doing something worthwhile, not presenting feebly veiled adverts and wiling away the hours on an ego site, or they have a selective memory disorder preventing them from rembering how the hell they got to 2005. so anyways what i was just wondering was if you cared to share any details of the best of Jane's Addiction album, dvd and any other upcoming debt relieving releases. id be much obliged.

So, I was wondering if I could interview you.
