Hi all,

HELP! I have no technie talents whatsoever....how the heck do i see this live web thing?

Thanks!
Jessie

Hi Dave,
I currently write for music and film review site http://www.noripcord.com/ and was wondering if I would be able to do an email/blog based interview with you regarding The Panic Channel, 6767.com, music in the online age and what the future may hold for Dave Navvaro fans. Considering you are much maligned for having "sold out" by many in the indie community, the interview could give you an opportunity to speak to your British indie fan base about why you have made some of your more controversial decisions and tell your fans what they can expect next from your good self. How about it? If you like the sound just drop me an email.
Cheers.
Dom

Jessie...Sweetie...the "live" thing was just for a few minutes last Saturday during CFR chat...Dave was just testing it out...there is nothing going on there now and that's why it isn't working for you. Keep your eyes peeled...you never know when he'll do it again! :)

Posted by: Cori at September 26, 2005 11:00 AM

Sweet Jessie, it's not that you don't have talent, the Webcast is only streaming when Dave says it will be, if you get a white screen, just bookmark the page, and come back to it next time Dave announces a live feed

hello family, hi Kyle,
Dave....SCORES stories, por favor?

love,
jezzi(was Paul Newman there, he was in town, you know!)

"Considering you are much maligned for having 'sold out' by many in the indie community..." - Dom

Isn't that a bit of a ridiculous statement? The indie community considers anyone who has an audience of more than 100 to be sell outs. Quite frankly, such statements are ill placed since all that radio/tv play these days is ball-less boring indie/emo bullshit. Even television and film is now catering specifically to the indie crowd. So, indie itself now has sold out and become just another carbon copied product (not that it matters because all that shit sounded the same to begin with). So essentially, everyone is now a sell out. no matter what.

So if everyone's a sell out, then I'd much rather listen to and be inspired by the most charismatic, interesting, talented, exciting "sell out" there is! Why put a maligned category under someone who chooses to express themselves in ways helpful to him/herself and others as well? Because they're on tv? Because they make money? Because they have lots of fans and press? Dave said it best, he'd be selling out if he did something because he felt other people would enjoy it even if he didn't. Thus far, I don't think he's done that. Well...maybe with the exception of that Gap ad, but he was clearly on a lot of drugs at the time, so that doesn't count. ;)

Let's just enjoy the words and music the dude has to offer.

Cheers.

I'm an Indie fan. And I'm a Dave fan. I dunno who's blabbing about him being a sell out. I guess then Oasis are too. Oo I don't think the word Indie means the same now as it used to either. Dave still gets a lot of respect. Jane's is an iconic band here in the UK. (Didn't Q mag vote them as most iconic band a couple of years back...some mag/music award listener thing..definately 'iconic', dunno if it was Q though) Kerrang still puts Dave in it's pages. That's a cool mag. Labels, labels, labels...
Here's my question, "Is Dave Navarro "Indie"?" Here's my other question, "What is "Indie" these days"" And, "Can someone who's part of an iconic band be "Indie"? "Can an icon be "Indie"?

Got my shirt today. It's a very cool shirt, and I love it, but dude, it's SO TINY! I swear it's the smallest large that ever was!

Dave, could you consult the crystal ball and see, will there be more of these on sale later?

Got a couple of bids in on the auction stuff.. really cool stuff, what a great idea.

Ylais,

I was referring to that guy Dom wanting to interview Dave about, among other things, why he thinks others consider him a sell out by the indie community and how he could explain himself and his actions to them. Why should they even need explaining, like he's done something wrong? Whatever. I just find that and the sell-out label annoying, especially after so many people have come on here and lobbed it at Dave. Was also pointing out the irony of the indie community considering others sell outs, when in the last 2 years or so, the style of indie rock/culture has become the most marketable commodity in music, film and even clothing.

As for what "indie" really is...I don't know, what's Spam made out of? It's subjective to different people. We could spend days arguing about whether or not it's meaning is really about the spirit of indie, artists without major labels, or the recent culture of indie rock, films, and even clothing style. But I was assuming this guy Dom was referring to the latter community.

And Uncle Creepy: I was only half serious dude! Yes, Dave rocked the fuck outta that commercial in that red/black coat thing that no one else could ever get away with. But even he's admitted he doesn't even wear Gap jeans and hated the commercial. Somewhere in the book he mentions threatening the Gap people that if they don't pull the commercial he would show up at elementary schools handing out needles from Gap bags to small children. Now THAT'S indie! ;)

In short, just sick of the sell out label being thrown at Dave and sick of these so called "indie" people bitching about it. Dave plays amazing music, is refreshingly honest on tv, insightful in interviews, and looks good while "peacocking"...that's all that should matter. :)

Peace!
- Sean

Hi, I also got my Tshirt today. Really great material and I agree nice an soft. I too have a large but it is small. I really could use an xlg. Still it is awesome and maybe I will frame it and hang it on the wall. Right over my bed. lol.

Greetings Dave!

I agree with some of the ladies on a couple of different things. first, i really miss seeing you on rock star INXS. second, if you just want to lay naked in bed during a cast that would be great! ha,ha.

i have to be honest with you here. i have been a fan of jane's for a long time, but i was never a "die hard" know every member's name kind of girl. when i saw you on rock star you were very familiar (and very sexy) but i couldn't place you. so i looked you up on the good old internet. then i dug out all my old jane cd's and there you were. i have started listening to the cds again, i had forgotten how much i enjoyed listening to them. so thanks to you for that!

i was disappointed to realize you were married to carmen. kind of kills the fantasy. ha,ha,ha. i hope she is good to you, and you to her. i look forward to finding out what your new ink is, i have a few myself. i've been itching for a new one but i moved back to the bible belt and they are illegal here.

take care!

Posted by: Heather at September 26, 2005 09:38 PM

Sean, sweetheart, I wasn't directing my comments to you. I was, like yourself, responding to the "sell out" view put forth by Dom. I think you and I are going along the same route. Of course, Dom probably just wants an interview, and that's his angle to get one! (hee hee :P) Us "Indies" eg. non-mainstream folk don't need much convincing about Dave's creds.
But hey, if Dave does an interview, I'll read it.
Hugs, Lisa xxxx

Great points Heather! I have recently become a DN fan after seeing INXS. Now, I have to find out EVERYTHING:) Hope to see you on webcast soon;) Cheers 6767 fans.

Hi Dave, I really am lost without seeing you on RSINXS. I really miss the show. It was so good watching you everyweek. When will we see you in something else. Maybe now you can spend more time with Carmen. Any chance of Little Dave or Carmens running around. Have a great day.

Love you both

ME & U ARE TOTALLY ON THE SAME PAGE HERE......I HATE THOZE WANNABE INDY CRITIX THAT THROW OUT THAT LABEL.........ITZ LAYME.....THEY JUS JEALOUS OF REAL TALENT....THEY WISH THEY WERE HIM RATHER THAN THE NOBODY'Z THAT THEY ARE........SO THEY JUS TALK SHITE AND ACCUSE.......SO THEY CAN STIR THINGZ UP...JUS 2 BE PART OF IT.....

All these way 2 small T-shirts, everyone's talking about. I hope they're at least pre-shrunk? Otherwise, come laundry day, Mr. Teddy Bear will be sporting a spiffy new outfit. And yes, I know plenty of you still have your teddy bears. Hidden in the back of your bedroom closet maybe?

Hi Dave,

I am about to order a 6767 T-shirt, but being from England I am not so clued up to how your sizes work. However I am the same height and build as you, so if you colud let me know the size that fits you that would be great!

Peace

Morning Dave & Family,

***Question for Whateverday 10***

Forgive me if it’s been answered, but I’ve been meaning to ask: when I used to go to 6767.com (in the months before you reactivated it last year), it would take me to a weird toy company website—can’t remember which one. I constantly thought I was typing in the wrong address. Was that on purpose? (Obviously must have been). Why that site?

Love,
Sue
