Sorry, Make That 3

(© Chris Weeks - Pauley, Dave and Lauren at the Sunday mansion party.)

I have about 20 minutes to kill before a documentary about crystal meth begins, so I thought I'd drop a line.

1. I just saw that you are doing the Rock Star Poker in Vegas on Friday. Are you going to be doing CFR this Saturday then?

I'm sure I will be out this weekend, but Billy and Matt can always hold down the fort.

2. Do you have online access at the Indie studios? Any chance of you popping in to your chat room during CFR?

Yes, I will try but it is hard to type and run a show at the same time. I might be ablo to jump in for commercial breaks or songs.

3. I'm a 14 year old girl and I need to come out to my parents. I know you're not gay but I really admire you and any advice would be helpful.

Without understanding your family dynamic, it is very hard for me to give you any advice. For me, I have always felt that it is better to not keep secrets, more so for my own state of mind than anything else. However, sometimes we need to seek the help of an outside party who has some insight as to what our situation is, in order to get "clear" as to what we want to say. If you have access to a therapist, a councilor or a close family member that knows your world, they might be better informed as to how to support you. Good luck.

On Sunday after the taping, we all headed over to the Rockstar Mansion for a little after party. We hung out, played a couple songs with an impromptu jam session, and just kind of forgot about the competition factor for a while. I sat in with Marty for Sympathy For The Devil and Jordis for Knockin On Heaven's Door. These parties do wonders for the kids as it is kind of the only time they get to have a house full of people with no cameras. Marty said, it was almost strange to not have them floating around. They get so used to it.

This week is particularly full. Tomorrow's episode is a special one hour elimination, so as exciting as that is, it means a longer day. Afterwards, I go to the house for more shooting, followed by another Thursday shoot at the house and then off to Vegas for the Poker Tournament with Gene, Jerry and Chad.

BTW: Thanx to FreAk for the Mac OSX 6767 Widget in the download section!

hey dave

good luck with the poker!
ain't it always the way, when you get first you don't have anything to say?

i know you must hear this alot, but any tentative dates on the tpc release?

thanks for all the time you give us. you're an inspiration as a musician AND a human being.

The advice you gave that girl was really good and good luck to her, i hope everything goes well for her.

Loving rockstar Dave.

Dave,
Now since you are in the rock star poker, are you aimed at winning? or are you just going to have a good time? You will definitely have to tell us about the game and who the lucky people who played you guys. I am also thinking I might post a drawing I did of you on panic community. Have a great day, and please don't work yourself to hard. Love ya.

Hey Dave,
When writing songs these days are you

a) trying to make interesting and powerful music

or

b) trying to write songs that are fun to play live?

I ask because although I'm a big fan of lots of your work as a musician (most notably Jane's, esp. No One's Leaving), The Panic Channel seems very one dimensional and formulaic. Hope you get time to answer.

Cheers.

Hey Dave,

Check this out:

The Ocean Size video is awesome. They may so those were the days, but in a way, you know, for us those WERE the days!

Cheers Dave.

hey dave, how is very1 in 67land....

gottsta say that although his attitude isn't the best, and by no means he is the rawest talent on the show, I really think JD would be the best of the bunch to front INxS....

Although personally, I'd love to see MIG get the Gig.....

every be safe & Happy,
My wife and I are going for a meal to celebrate my birthday..

Can you elaborate??? You said MY documentary about crystal meth...didn't know if you were just going to watch something or, you are/were participating in something.

Thanks!

We'll miss you on CFR this week. Any chance of Rock Star Poker being aired? At least we have RS INXS to look forward too. Don't work too hard!

Yay!!! Dave in the chat room!!!

Dave, do you have a laptop yet, remember last year, you would borrow Riss', and we would get updates when you were in New York? Can we get updates from Vegas?
Don't you all have those wonderful little sidekicks, or blueberrys or whatever they are ,that let you use the phone and the internet at the same time, you would think Verizon would hook a brother up!!

Hey Dave,

Is that the documentary on A & E, about it being a plague in a small town?

Posted by: Junebug at August 23, 2005 11:14 AM

hey dave. Thanx for the advice, you're so sweet! I plan on telling my parents later on today, my two sisters know and aren't very pleased (one of them is extremely homophobic) but I'm thinking "FUCK THEM! as long as I'm happy"
If it all goes to fuck, I know I can come here and bitch to you :-)

Posted by: chloe at August 23, 2005 11:16 AM

dude, if it's that hbo documentary about meth, it's one of the most depressing/shocking things you'll see. the stories and the faces of those people should be mandatory viewing for all those who are growing up today.

yikes.

Posted by: rxs at August 23, 2005 11:18 AM

I saw the docu last night on A&E. It was shocking to say the least. I have a lot of admiration for the family members who stood by thier addicted loved ones. That has got to be just as hard or harder to go through than the addiction itself!
Good luck with the Poker Dave- do you know who won the contest to play poker with you guys? Lucky bastard!!!

Dave, what do you think about members of the house band giving their opinions about the originals written by Mig and Deanna?

I find it completely inappropriate.

Who are these guys, anyway?

True, they are excellent studio/touring musicians. Great chops. Talented bunch.

But they were the backing band for Cher!

Jesus christ.

I'd only trust what Paul Mirkovich has to say if I could hear a cd of HIS originals.

And if his songs are lame + boring, then I wouldn't trust his opinion.

I just was shocked that the house band is going to be chiming in with a negative vibe. When their job is to just be a competent backing band, not to be discouraging assholes.

Let the contestants succeed (or crash and burn) on their own terms---- instead of having ideas filtered through the sensibilities of the house band.

The house band members can go online to vote if they want to, but they shouldn't be interferring with the contest.

Dave,
Is it true that you didn't tell perry face-to-face or even over the phone that you guys were starting a new band? If so, do you now regret dealing with the situation in that way, or do you feel that it was the right thing to do?

Thanks.

I can't believe you have commercials on your site. This is meant to be a sanctuary for Dave Navarro fans, not a fucking advert for all the commercial ventures you're a part of. You should watch those old Jane's videos somebody posted earlier on and try and remember what it's like to strike a powerful cultural cord with the hearts and minds of a generation. Does finding INXS a new singer even come close to that?

Hi...

The crystal meth documentary sounds interesting; I hope to catch it. Another great flick on that subject is "The Salton Sea" with Val Kilmer, which I'm sure most of you have seen. SO eerie, creepy, and disturbing. That stuff is BAD news.

Dave - have a great, fulfilling week. Sounds hectic, but it beats being bored. I'm sure you'll kick ass in everything you do.

And to those of you who are watching him in Vegas, have an awesome time and (for some of you) a very happy birthday!

To Chloe - Best of luck to you! It's never easy revealing big secrets to parents, but it will probably be a big relief. As long as you're a good person and aren't hurting anyone, it shouldn't matter what your sexual preferences are.

Cheers,

Obviously I am still trying to piece my life together. After someone attacked me in 1999, who, I don't know, it's even harder to piece this together.
I am sorry I won't know them, pissed off about it, wtf, they had 15 years to tell me, why they didn't before then didn't I might never know. I didn't realize that I was adopted, okay, and I didn't ever have cause to suspect it. It's not like I was white and my family was black, it was reasonable to me to think that this family, was my family. Why someone under the guise of friendship would use me, lie to me and hurt me, I have no clue. I never did anything to warrant it.
whatever.
goodluck in poker. Any of my smart ass comments about rockstar will be anonymous from now on. It's their band.

Hey Dave and 6767 friends...
I have what is probably a very dumb question but maybe one of you can help me out. Its actually a 2 part question.
What is the significance of the numbers 6767?? Don't laugh at me dammit! haha...I even read the DTTAH book and got no answers regarding those numbers. (I did enjoy that book so much...finished it in half a day!)
The second question is what are the roman numeral tatoo's on dave's fingers all about? Sometimes I think I see a VI VII but then other times I don't...someone help out a clueless fan! :) Thanks everyone. I've been reading here for a while but recently decided to just jump out here and ask away! :)
I hope everyone has a wonderful day,
~Amber

Dave,

When will your T-shirt be available. I'll definitely order 1.

I saw BROKEN FLOWERS today. I loved the movie except for the ending. I felt let down. I wanted some closure to the story, but it left me kind of hanging. Otherwise, Bill Murray and Jeffrey Wright were great.

Have a great night.

Hi Dave, I want to say that you are just awesome. I am 57 and from the time of Black Sabboth, Pink Floyd etc. I really did not know much about you until I started watching RSINXS. I have to tell you that you make me wish I was 25 years younger. (lol) I have been reading everything I can find about you. I have a son who is 1yr younger than you and he has had his ups and downs with drugs. I am hoping this time that he will staighten out. It is great that you have turned your life around and have a wonderfull life with Carmen. You are an inspiration to others. I also would like to know when the t shirts will be out. I really want one since 6/7 was also my mothers birthday. Well this is getting long now so I want to wish you and Carmen all the happiness there is. I look forward to seeing you on the show. Thanks for listening. P.S. I have the Alister Crowley tarot cards with the symbol for your tatoo. My deck is about 30 years old and kept in a satin bag.

Posted by: jasmin5184 at August 23, 2005 04:55 PM

I can't wait for the T-shirt....I just recently bought a promo shirt made for "TNO", and wear it all the time, so a new shirt will be marvy!!

Have a great day, fam....and Dave, don't forget to take a nap every now and then (did you finish "Nip/Tuck"? 2nd season out on DVD on August 30)!!!

Posted by: Elizabeth at August 23, 2005 05:34 PM

For the 14 year old girl wanting to come out... I have no idea where you live... but there are youth support groups in most cities.... it would be a very good place to start as they are just like you.... young and, well, different. Find the nearest lesbian and gay colition to you and go talk to them. They can help you make the right decision as to what you should do...

Dave's right, only you know your family and your situation.. Smart man that he is....

It's amazing that you are 14 and ready to tell.... guess all the work was worth it when I see young queer kids having the option of discussing it all... never would have happened when I was your age...

You go girl!!!!! and you go Dave.. knew there was a reason I admire and respect you... seems this is part of the reason why....

Win a hand for me Mister!

Hey Dave, I saw NIN the other night in Brisbane and they were awesome. Was lucky enough to go the meet and greet and also their sound check I must say that the sound that one hears on the CD is a very close replica to what you here live. Trent's voice is amazing! He is buff as hell now and has shaved his head and now looks very much like henry rollins (well sought of). Ciao

Stardreme, that was ME that asked the question about the chat, I MUST be recognized, attention whore that I am, lol!

Jinny, what's wrong? It sounds like you are in a world of pain. Do you have anybody to talk to? Please take care of yourself, and try not to do anything destructive to yourself or others. I read your posts, and there is so much hurt in them, I'm sorry.

DAVE!!!! Is this Rockstar Poker for charity or the Carmen Electra shoe fund? Inquiring mind of mine wants to know!

OK -- show just ended and I already cast my votes but needed to vent about the performances. Suzie HAS to go home!!! She is just a little too "suburbia soccer mom" for INXS and she annoys the hell out of me for some reason. I love Jordis but I don't think that song was for her. I thought Ty did a good job on Proud Mary, it was fun and he has a hell of a voie. I hav eto say though that my vote for the winner is MiG. I think he has what it takes to front INXS -- the look, the voice, the versatiltiy etc. JD also did a god job but I think his "holier than thou" attitude sucks.

Dave, as usual you were open and honest with all of them -- you rock!!!! I'm sure that they all appreciate all of your comments even if they are no the best, at least they are honest.

Keep up the good work!!!

Question for Sunday 10 -- do you ski or board?? I live in the best place on earth to do both!!! You should come and see us sometime :)

Posted by: L at August 23, 2005 09:14 PM

I felt bad for Jordis- I think that she was not feeling very confident for not hitting the right note on particular parts of "Dream On"...that's aight, she's still my girl, so is Marty, who I think kicked butt as usual! Do you guys think he screamed? ... I didn't...

BTW Dave, you look good in green! Va Va Va Voom!

Claudinha

P.S. Anyone hear from Silviane(sp is wrong, prob!)? She was having throat surgery on her vocal cords today to get her voice back...I will say a prayer for her and keep my fingers crossed that she will re-gain her voice...

Posted by: Claudinha at August 23, 2005 09:20 PM

On the subject of the Crowley deck mentioned~I had the Crowley tarot deck years ago. I used them for readings a lot then, it's difficult to explain, but they started freaking me out, staring at them.
I don't use them anymore. Haven't for 10 years plus.
In fact, I got rid of them. Some of the art on those cards is so 'fractured'. I won't do tarot anymore either though. I had a few decks, and let's just say some are much 'happier' than others. And Crowley...well I'm not even going to start on him! (except to say, check out what he did to the women in his life for one thing)
I'll take it to the board, or somewhere else.

Posted by: ylais at August 23, 2005 09:33 PM

the crowley deck I loved but did not use much. I had another deck tht was more simple. I wasn't ready for crowley at the time. I think I could do it now. Pictures are awesome. everyone said I was pretty accurate. About the show. Great show and yes day you looked awesome. I am thinking MIG He seems to blend in with the group. JD is great in performance but he seems like he could be a rebel and the type that fame would go to his head then he might get in trouble. TY i don't see with the band. I can see Jordis or suzie. Can't wait until the show tomorrow.

Hi Dave, Have you thought about doing a project to help young kids get off of drugs. You would be great at it. You have a genuine personality and a great heart. When you take someone as a friend they are a friend forever. You treat them like family and feel their pain. I have never had a friend like that what you can call a true trusting friend. At my age I will never find one. Will ther be autographed ts available. Hope to chat with you soon.

Posted by: jasmin5184 at August 23, 2005 10:20 PM

TY-RIFFIC, Awesome!

I like Deanna the best, Jordis i like too, but when she falls, she falls hard. JD is a young Tom Jones. Marty is a Psycho. Mig didn't do it for me this week, but i could see him in INXS. And the other girl, she is cute, but i still don't know her name.

Posted by: smith at August 23, 2005 11:27 PM

Dave,
Mig's song rocked - wished his voice was a little stronger in parts but it was better than the band seemed to think it was. Did it change or is this a classic 'diffrent strokes...' kinda situation?

The CF chat was cool - after I spoke with you I rec'd a pop-up telling me I typed too fast & to chill! lol! ME!...now known as '2 fingers 2 furious'! ROFL!
G'day Simon,stardreme,Fri13th,elizabeth et al :)

Tommy Lee made band! Bless!

Nice advice to the 14yo - you are indeed all things to all people Dave!

Funny, every time I saw "Dream On", I kept thinking that it was going to be the Depeche Mode song. Doh! Dave's look during Jordis' performance was priceless. Have a great day, 67'ers and Dave, looking forward to the 1 hr elimination tonight, but it's hard to call!!
Love,

Posted by: Sue at August 24, 2005 05:00 AM

Dave, had to come on and tell you how much I loved your Ty-riffic call. I seriously laughed my arse off so hard I was crying. Could be just because I'm mad and it's my life goal to come up with as many puns as possible ;)

To the girl who wants to come out to her parents. I recently did (about being bi). Though my mum was seriously pissed off at first, she got used to it. It's quite liberating coming out, however, depending on your parents it could also be wiser to wait until you are a bit older and more independant. If it were going to cause violence or something (as has happened with a friend of mine) you might want to wait. Yeah, but it completely depends on your family dynamic, I think Dave hit the nail in the head when saying that.
