Camp Freddy
(Thanx to Keri for the photo) There is a Camp Freddy show at the Key Club in Hollywood on September 29th. (show flyer) The show was originally going to be a "free" show for the fans, but in light of the recent developments in New Orleans and surrounding areas, we have decided to now charge $15.00 a ticket with ALL proceeds going to the American Red Cross New Orleans Relief Fund. Camp Freddy wishes to thank BC Ethic and Indie 103.1 for their support and for sponsoring this very special show. Be sure to check the Non Profits link to the right for more organizations that need our help. A very special thanks to my friend April, who helped inspire this link and to Robert for helping me with the code.
Now, the drama! Ty Taylor, out of the running. It was a very sad day on the Rockstar stage today as Ty said his final words to INXS before leaving the studio to go home. Now that we are down to the final five, it is gonna be harder and harder each week to bid a farewell to these talented artists and now, friends of mine.

Elimination
This is gonna be a tough one to call. I'm off to see what happens and I will check in later. The good news is that I got a full two hours of sleep last night! Oh, the magic of sleep deprivation. My emotional stability is gonna be set on high for sure... n't.

Rockstar: INXS/Performance Archives
Last night's performance taping was incredible! There was an orchestra and a choir on stage with the house band and it was one of the fullest and sweetest sounding musical evenings I have ever witnessed live. On the VH1 show they announced the song selections, Wish You Were Here, Live and Let Die, You Can't Always Get What You Want, Imagine, Bohemian Rhapsody and Suspicious Minds. Just an epic performance show. If any one is interested in checking out some past performances, you can go to the Rockstar Performance Archives. Also, last night's VH1 show is now up at the 6767TV. Thanx Robert!
We have already sold out of our T-shirts at the Shop 13, so please be patient as we restock. We had no idea that these things would be in such demand like this and I thank you for your support and ideas regarding future merch. We are also still hard at work with other links and features here at 6767 so please stay tuned.

Here is a quick little site update. Shop 13, our online store is now open. 6767 T-shirts are now available but we only have a limited supply for the time being, so please be patient as we expand.
Tonight's CFR has been loaded onto The Panic Radio thanks to Chase and Robert C. The broadcast is also now available for Podcast.
We apologize for the late opening of the Chat tonight. Please forgive us. For those of you I dropped in on, it was nice to say hello, albeit brief. The Chat was about to shut down, so I wanted to get out of there before I got booted from my own room!

Vegas Airport - Oh, the Zumanity!
“At this time we would like to invite those passengers with small children under the age of five years to board the aircraft. Naturally, I say to Riss, “Come on… That’s us. “What are you talking about? We don’t have any small children under the age of five. “Oh no? I reply, “Well, then what about those babies? “What babies? “Right there, under your blouse. I don’t know if it was the lack of sleep, the coffee or the sensory overload from the lights and sounds of Las Vegas, but we thought it was the funniest thing we had ever heard. We seriously laughed for about 25 minutes to the point of delirium.
So, the tournament. I played for about an hour and got bounced, but it was all good. The whole thing was won by this 22 year old kid who was really good. I am glad he won it. Later at the after party, he got in the hot tub with two of Gene's naked girl friends. All in all, he won a whole poker tournament, took home $10,000.00, hung with his favorite musician (Jerry Cantrell), hit a Vegas private after party at The Palms "Real World" Suite and went skinny dipping with two young naked hot blonde chicks. Not a bad evening at 22. Lemme tell you, he had the time of his life. I know this because at one point I asked him, "Are you having the time of your life?" He shouted, "Yeah!" with this huge grin on his face. As much as it was an evening of debauchery and dereliction, as well as a course in self indulgence and vices, I have to say that it was really, very heart warming. Jerry and I were talking about it on the plane ride home and we agreed that seeing a kid like that have some dreams come true is the very reason we do stuff like this.

Burbank
So we got to the airport on time and everything seems to be going as planned. We stroll up to the check in only to find, that our flight has been cancelled! I couldn’t believe it, but I have to say that I kept it together pretty well… Like, “It’s all part of God’s plan. I was reminded of my old story, Looking For God. Anyway, I decide to make use of the extra 4 hours it’ll take to get on another flight, by attempting to view the surrounding airport on a molecular level and beyond. I even tried to get all string theory about it and look for the tiny vibrations that make up everything in the universe, from the physics to the mechanics. I got about 40 seconds out of it. Damn that was boring. Put any spin on it you want, I’m still sitting in an airport for 4 hours.

Vegas
I'm off to the Palms in Las Vegas to play in the Rockstar Poker Tournament with Chad, Gene and Jerry. I woke up late so I got some shakin' to do. Robert should have our store open today or tomorrow. I'll check in from the hotel to see how it's going. They say "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." I think that when they say that they mean, "Whatever money you have in Vegas, stays in Vegas." At least, that has been my experience. I gotta go... Can't pull myself away from the computer.

The Drama of One Hour Dramas
Elimination time! Now we are in a place where I really can't see anyone leaving. My kids! I feel like the mother bird throwing her babies out of the nest to see if they can fly. Fly baby birds, fly! Oh, BTW, I apologize for the "Ty-riffic" comment. I just couldn't help myself. It was one of those things where I thought it was so bad that is was good, but at the end of the day, it wasn't bad enough to be good, it was just bad! Haha. Hey, they can't all be winners. Sometimes you have to take the plunge instead of just looking over the ledge. What else? Hmmmmm. Really nothing. It's 6:00am and I'm all jacked on coffee. I'll tell you if we were shooting now, it would have to be a two hour show, cause I'm firing on all cylinders. It's always that way. By the time we get into show mode, I will have gone from a 1340cc to a 250cc. At least this isn't one of those one hour long dramas. Those cast members never get a free moment. So here is a shout out to the unsung heroes of the flat screen. "What up homies? PP and LH all up in da house... hopefully asleep."

Sorry, Make That 3
(© Chris Weeks - Pauley, Dave and Lauren at the Sunday mansion party.)
I have about 20 minutes to kill before a documentary about crystal meth begins, so I thought I'd drop a line.
1. I just saw that you are doing the Rock Star Poker in Vegas on Friday. Are you going to be doing CFR this Saturday then?
I'm sure I will be out this weekend, but Billy and Matt can always hold down the fort.
2. Do you have online access at the Indie studios? Any chance of you popping in to your chat room during CFR?
Yes, I will try but it is hard to type and run a show at the same time. I might be ablo to jump in for commercial breaks or songs.
3. I'm a 14 year old girl and I need to come out to my parents. I know you're not gay but I really admire you and any advice would be helpful.
Without understanding your family dynamic, it is very hard for me to give you any advice. For me, I have always felt that it is better to not keep secrets, more so for my own state of mind than anything else. However, sometimes we need to seek the help of an outside party who has some insight as to what our situation is, in order to get "clear" as to what we want to say. If you have access to a therapist, a councilor or a close family member that knows your world, they might be better informed as to how to support you. Good luck.
On Sunday after the taping, we all headed over to the Rockstar Mansion for a little after party. We hung out, played a couple songs with an impromptu jam session, and just kind of forgot about the competition factor for a while. I sat in with Marty for Sympathy For The Devil and Jordis for Knockin On Heaven's Door. These parties do wonders for the kids as it is kind of the only time they get to have a house full of people with no cameras. Marty said, it was almost strange to not have them floating around. They get so used to it.
This week is particularly full. Tomorrow's episode is a special one hour elimination, so as exciting as that is, it means a longer day. Afterwards, I go to the house for more shooting, followed by another Thursday shoot at the house and then off to Vegas for the Poker Tournament with Gene, Jerry and Chad.
BTW: Thanx to FreAk for the Mac OSX 6767 Widget in the download section!

Sunday 10, anyone?
I am just about to leave for another performance show taping at CBS. This thing is winding down fast. So, we have loaded last week's CFR for Podcast. It's a trial run, but you can access it by clicking on the XML link on this page and then copying the URL into your software or iTunes using the Advanced menu bar. If for some reason you get feed://www.6767.com/index.xml, replace the "feed" with "http". That should do the trick. (browsers vary) Also, regarding upcoming chats, I will be posting when there are live chats, otherwise the room will be open during regular Camp Freddy hours.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Robert Chafino for his tireless efforts in getting 6767 so technologically up to date. Cheers, mate!
Also, our girl, Courtney is going through some life changes. If you get a chance, send her your prayers.
Tonights VH1 Rockstar is now showing on 6767TV.

CFR/Ozzfest/Netflix
Tomorrow night on CFR, Indie 103.1 FM 6pm-8pm, Ione Skye will join me and fill in for Billy. He will be calling in live from Ozzfest for a few updates as to how the day is going and perhaps for a few "on the fly" interviews with some of the artists. You know, the only thing better than going to Ozzfest, is talking to someone on the phone who is actually there. Oh man, it's going to be great radio I tell ya! Sweet! Ione and I will be taking calls and highlighting some of the artists on the tour. That is my plan, anyway, you know things will change by tomorrow. I might scrap the whole Ozzfest thing and call my "woman on the street" live from Lilith Fair.
Last three Netflixed films:
Solaris - Great "mood" movie... A good kind of slow, a visual and enjoyable white noise.
The Jacket - Visually very cool, but just kind of left me going, "that was kinda trippy" but nothing more. As always Adrien Brody is great and Keira Knightley is just so gorgeous.
Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession - Super interesting documentary about the Z Channel. Brought back a lot of memories about life in L.A. in the 70's and 80's.
As you can see, it's a slow news day over here. Off to the gym.

This Just In
This just in: The Rita Cosby Live & Direct appearance on MSNBC has been postponed as breaking coverage of the BTK case continues. I will post when there has been a rescheduling.
Our prayers go out to the victims and their families.
Also, last week's VH1 Rockstar has been added to the 6767TV if anyone is interested.

Update
Well, another elimination show has come and gone and we bid a farewell to Jessica. The last week or so she has really come a long way and improved a great deal, but ultimately she wasn't right for INXS and the saga continues. Now it looks as though the rest of the show is gonna be really hard to call. Mig has really stepped it up with the solo piano version of Baby I Love Your Way. J.D. showed real initiative when he broke away from his team to write his own song. Yeah, he broke the "rules", but so what? After all, it IS rock and roll. Deanna really did a killer job on her INXS song, Suzie did too. Marty and Jordis? Well, they are, after all, Marty and Jordis. I was surprised that TY fell towards the bottom, but perhaps he can redeem himself. I wonder if Stop/Go had anything to do with it.
Tonight I went up to the house to present the new clinic. This should be interesting. Tomorrow I am doing some MSNBC thing. Rita Cosby Live & Direct. They describe it as follows: "Get a hard-hitting, no-nonsense news program. It brings viewers stories they won't see anywhere else." Oh Rita, there will be nonsense! There will be. I'm sure they will want to talk about the show and poker and other entertainment stuff, but I really just want to ask her about the Jackson jurors and the California man who ran over a flock of pet ducks. I hear the community is outraged. As well they should be! Sure, ducks don't have it as hard as penguins, but it can't be that easy for them. Either way, I am just glad to be doing something on MSNBC. That alone makes me feel as though I were an actual adult.
1. Dave, what do you think about the theory that YOU are really Molly?
That's crazy! I use spell check.
2. Every woman should have a husband like you.
Maybe we'll move to Utah. I'll see what I can do.

1. Do you see yourself getting more into movies in the future?
I doubt it. I'm not really the actor type. I don't like waiting around in the trailer and I see my wife getting to the set at like 7:00am and waiting around until 3:00pm to start shooting. Plus, I've never really been any good at lines that have been written for me. Sure, I can say what's on MY mind easily, but delivering lines as a different character is a pretty intense craft that takes a lot of skill, time and patience... All of which I don't have.
2. Do you watch RS: INXS as it's broadcast to see how it's been edited and presented?
Sure I do. What airs is usually just a "tighter" version of what went down. The show really "plays" honestly. I have been impressed by that. I didn't know what to expect the first few times, but the Burnett team is really amazing at what they do. They keep it all above board.
3. Dave, I was wondering something about Camp Freddy. Do you like gather and go "hey, let's do Paradise City!" or is it much more thought out than that?
We have a pretty full repertoire so it usually depends on who is performing and what they want to do. It's a pretty fair system. If a guest wants to do a song we don't know, we just learn it and then add the song to the list of ones we know for future dates.
4. So, is Scorpy among the dearly departed or was it just hibernating?
I think it's a wrap on Scorpy.
5. Book a CF show for the public.
There are tentative dates in the news section. We are just waiting to confirm.

Another Taping
I am off for another performance show. Don't forget that the reality portion of the show is tonight on VH1. There should be some good drama tonight. Last night's Camp Freddy Radio will be up on the Panic Channel Radio in a few days. We had Super Model Rachel Hunter in the studio. Good times. Next week, we will have another guest and Billy will be calling in throughout the broadcast live from Ozzfest. Only on the Independent - Indie 103.1 FM

The Rain
I had a very rare night out on the town last night. First, I took the kids to Rokbar and we had an amazing time. Billy and his wife joined us and we just chilled, told stories and laughed a lot with the remaining 8. After all this time hanging around the house and the show, guess who is turning out to have a really cool personality? Jessica! I suggested that she interject that side of her into her performances. Simple but straight. The show and the house tend to be a little more "work" oriented for them and I would imagine somewhat stressful to a degree, last night was nothing but a good time hanging out. No critiques, no clinics, no song choices and NO CAMERAS. (Plus, I don't think the open bar tab hurt anything.) Marty stayed back home to work on music. This week INXS assigned the songs they are to perform and I think Marty was handed a real mindf@#k. Wait till you see this! I personally can't wait. After Rokbar, Riss and I headed over to another spot to hang out with Daphna Dove and her friend. We shared a meal and caught up. It was great to see her. Someone asked me once, "Who from the show do you see yourself being friends with?" Since Daphna is no longer on it, I can tell you she is for sure a friend. She is a really deep and special girl. As for the rest, I must remain publicly silent about that until it is over or until they go home. I'm sure it isn't too hard to figure out.
It looks like it might rain here! I love the rain. (Woody Allen’s character in Play It Again Sam: “I love the rain – it washes memories off the sidewalks of life!) Carmen went to Toronto for a final week of shooting. I'm glad she is gonna be done soon, although I have bad news for her. She caught a scorpion last week and kept it as a pet. She named it, Scorpy. Well, the thing is, it doesn't look like Scorpy is doing so well right now. I haven't seen him move in a few days. Poor Scorpy. I believe he has moved on into the light. You know how when you do a Google search, sometimes your past searches come up? Well, yesterday I was searching something and an old search came up that Carmen had done while I was out. It was a search for "food for scorpions". So damn cute! It nearly broke my heart!

CFR
1. I saw your name on Tommy Lee's 'Tommyland the Ride CD'. Which song(s) did you play on?
I know I played on two tracks, but when we did it, I didn't catch the song titles, so to be honest, I don't really know. I think that one of them is the theme to his TV show, Tommy Lee Goes to College. Tommy came by the studio when The Panic Channel was recoding with producer, Scott Humphrey and we just threw up the Tommy tracks. I layed down a few guitars and that was that.
OK. I am like 98% certain that there will be an all new Camp Freddy Radio tomorrow night on Indie 103.1 FM. 6-8pm, West Coast time. To listen in from other areas, click on the Indie link for a live webcast.
Tonight I take the remaining 8 singers from Rockstar out to the club!

Down to 8
As you can see, we have decided to put up our new layout and get started. Soon, all the old links will be active and we will be gliding along with grace and ease. Today I am going up to the mansion to host another clinic with the singers. This one should be really interesting. Don't miss it on VH1 next Sunday. I went by the mansion last night after the elimination show and it was very quiet. Brandon's presence is totally missed. He was such a part of that place and has the biggest heart. I meant what I said last night when I told him that what he does, he does well, it just doesn't fit with INXS. Tomorrow night I am taking the remaining contestants out for a drink and a chance to either discuss the rest of their stay, or just chill. Today looks like a half day for me so I will be getting to some questions later as well as updating some stuff here.

Penguin Movie
Carmen and I just saw March of the Penguins. What an amazing movie. I'll tell ya, those penguins really do take a lot of s!@t. All out of love for their mates and babies. I highly recommend this film. Paladin, I am way backing your From the Earth to the Moon suggestion. I loved it. Right now I am checking out a show called K Street and then I am going into Nip/Tuck as per many recommendations here.
1. I'm not getting this hype over Jordis.
That's the beautiful thing about music. You don't have to. Some get it, some don't. If everybody liked the same thing it would be a pretty boring world.
2. Madchen Amick just signed on for a role in a new sitcom starring Freddie Prinz, Jr.
Sweet!
3. Do you think there's ever a chance John Frusciante will join Camp Freddy onstage sometime?
I literally spoke to him last week and asked if he would do one. He said he'd for sure do it. My hopes are for the October Vanity Fair show.
4. (Congratulations Jordis)
um, but isn't that a conflict of interest Dave? Somewhat of a sabotage or at least an interference of sorts? LOL. Opportunist. *shakes head* Where's the caring and compassion for INXS dude?
Jordis did a cover of Should I Stay with Camp Freddy, as it was her birthday. I'm not sure I follow what you are even talking about. Jordis certainly doesn't have an edge because she played with my band. I have nothing to do with the voting process. That's all up to the guys (INXS).
5. You write very well, did writing the book help your writing skills, did you learn anything new from the experience of actually writing?
Thank you. Actually, the majority of that book was written by Neil Strauss, I just did a couple of bits.
Tonight's show has some good performances. The bottom three is getting tougher and tougher to imagine. In about two or three weeks, It'll all come down to a matter of taste. Once again, I sure am glad I don't have to decide!

Late Updates
Daphna update. Here is a picture of Daphna Dove rockin with Klaus from The Scorpions the other night. She is still living the dream. Right on, Daphna!
Late post from yesterday: Just about to roll out to another taping of a performance show. For those of you interested, there is a "reality" style edition of Rockstar on VH1 tonight, the Monday show that was originally on CBS has moved. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the same with performances and elimination. I know it seems like a lot of math, but if you dig the show, it's worth it. It's certainly going to be interesting giving the singers critiques today after they have seen Camp Freddy. I might have to lose the whole "pitch" concept from my vocabulary. Hahahahaha. I suppose that it doesn't matter so much to us as we are a once in a while "f@#k it, let's play some covers" band, but it matters to INXS. There is the difference! Whew! OK. Pitch comments back in. See? Blogging helps me get my thoughts straight. My ducks in a row.
Today: Last night's taping was a lot of fun. Carmen showed up for the show and it was awesome to have her there. After, I went to the Rockstar mansion for a little after party. That place is so beautiful, especially at night.

House of Blues 3
Here is the rad thing about last night. When we were doing sound check, Slash, Cypress, Cantrell, Duffy, Dono, Perkins, Draiman, Morrison, McGrath, Wyse and I were going over stuff as per usual. Then... Jordis showed up and we were all like, "Damn, Jordis is here!" and we all got kinda freaked out. Perk had the best line of the day when after her line check he said, "Jordis, we think you're just right for our band, Camp Freddy." A la Tim Farris. Since Camp Freddy is a collective band, Jordis is now an official member. All of her friends at the house were totally supportive of her joining us to jam. They really are kind of a family over there and they don't really do the jealousy/hostility thing. Plus, it was the girl's birthday for crying out loud. McGrath says he's in love with her! (In a sweet supportive way, not actually.) When I told Steve Jones that a singer from the INXS show was joining us, he said, "Please tell me it's the girl with the dreads." I guess the point is that she already has the respect the musical community. In fact, it was so fun to see all the kids get approached by fans at the gig last night. To me, that's what it's all about. Watching these guys get a chance to be heard and grow as singers and as people. It is truly heart warming and THAT is the feeling I hang on to when I catch shit for being a part of this process. Call it what you will, but I couldn't be more proud of them. Ty kind of turned into the mayor of the V.I.P. area holding court with a bunch of new friends. I hung with Mig, Marty, J.D., Suzie and Ty. I couldn't find Deanna or Jessica, but from the stage, I couldn't help but notice Brandon as he is like 8 feet tall and he was rockin out like a motherf!@#er! Marty seemed extra psyched to see Scott Weiland and now that I think of it, I can see why. They both have really dynamic and unique stage personas.
After one of Dono's songs I said into the mic, "Dono... Great performance, you'll just have to watch your pitching!"

House of Blues
Tonight Camp Freddy rocks the House of Blues! A play by play to follow tomorrow. Also, I think there just might be a new CFR tomorrow night on Indie 103.1 FM.
1. Did you see the RS:INXS drinking game? Every time Brooke says “rockers you take a shot.
Then there are some REALLY drunk people out there!
2. Do you plan on quitting smoking anytime in the near future?
Once the season is wrapped, I plan on giving it another shot.
3. Do you know if spectators are allowed at the Rock Star Poker event in Vegas?
Yes, they are. Check the site linked here, or call the Palms Casino in Vegas for information.
4. What are you doing with the clipboard on the show? I swear I see you with one, or am I mistaken?
I use it to write down comments or thoughts that occur to me during performances to tell the singers either during the show or after the tapings. It's kind of my job to give them all feedback and sometimes I have more to share with them than the time we are allotted allows.
5. What do you think of Nuno Bettencourt's playing?
I have always been a fan. He is a truly amazing guitar player.
6. With all of the boards and threads devoted to Rock Star INXS, do you find this near-realtime feedback to be mind-boggling at times?
I stay away from most of them. I usually just check in here or on the TPC board. It's pretty overwhelming for sure.
7. Hey Dave, you may not be able to answer this due to conflict of interests, but are there any contestants who you could see yourself putting them in the 'friends for life' category?
I can say without a doubt... for sure!
8. Is the panic channel going to do any sort of touring after the album is out?
Yes. However we are gonna start up playing again right after the season is wrapped. I know we have a show booked in November for certain, but I am sure we will do some shows prior to that.
9. You are getting ragged on by some people that think you are selling out because you are being a host on TV. Please don't let that get to you.
It doesn't but thank you. The sellout is the one who doesn't do something he wants to do because he is afraid of what the public's perception might be. Thus, not being true to himself.
10. I want to take this opportunity to ask you if you have any suggestions for Vegas on Halloween?
In Vegas, every day is Halloween.

3/10/WCC
I'm off to tape the elimination show. It's really going to be interesting to see who is in the bottom three. Even though Ty's Everlong wasn't that strong, I have a hard time imagining him in the lower register. Everyone else either did really well or at least improved. At this point, it's getting to be more about taste than anything. I'd say, in like three weeks, it'll be super hard to call. So far, Jordis has done no wrong for me. She has the voice and the "X" factor.
I know I owe you guys a couple of Sunday 10's, so if there are any questions, I can get to 10 of them today. Tomorrow we tape a whole new clinic. Thanx to Al for the WCC photos. I hadn't seen them.
Have a beautiful day. I will surely meet some of you as we trudge the Road of Happy Destiny.

Visuals
Agent J asked what I thought of this picture. Well, I think they got the face fairly close, I don't remember my hair ever being like that but I'll take it cause I loved Depp's portrayal of Willy Wonka and it has kind of a new Wonka vibe. I know it is supposed to be a dig at me but what can you do? You can't make everyone happy all the time. I'll just be flattered that an artist somewhere took the time to sit down and focus on his interpretation of me, although I am certain that wasn't his intention.
I have always been a Chocolate Factory purist. I've seen the original like 100 times and I have always been a fan of Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka. Having said that, I loved the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I saw it the other night after the taping and was very pleasantly surprised with how well it was cast. Johnny Depp is for sure a creepier Wonka, but he is so damn good, I forgot about my original perception of the character. It felt like a new film all together. All the kids were amazing in their roles and I must say that this film's Charlie and Grandpa are much more likable than the originals. I suppose that instead of comparing, it's just nice to know that now we have both versions. My only complaint is that the boat ride wasn't f@#ked up enough. The original boat ride was so twisted. I wanted Burton to take it even further. Nevertheless, the film is just awesome.
I also recently finished watching Project Greenlight Season 2. The series is a lot better than the movie they made (The Battle of Shaker Hights), however, the film's star, Shia LaBeouf is really an incredible young actor. I really enjoyed watching him in the series and in the film and I expect great things will come for him. Thanx for all the DVD season suggestions. I plan to get into Carnivale right after I do season 1 of Monk.
