July 19, 2005

Tuesday Morning

Recently Finished Box Set of Episodic Television: "Rescue Me" - Highly recommended
Rockstar: INXS - Tonight, another performance show.

1. Dave, what happened to Ana Voog?

God, I don't know. We lost touch several years ago. If anyone has an update I'd love to hear it.

2. Hey Dave, still waiting to hear where you got your latest tats done in Vegas!

I got the bats and the "Don't Try This At Home" at Hart & Huntington located in the Palms Casino. Thomas hooked me up but I don't think he is there anymore.

3. When do they tape the performance show? How long does it take to tape the performance shows?

The performance shows are about as long as they are on TV. We tape Sunday, they air Tuesday and the elimination show is taped and aired Wednesday.

4. Loved the lesson you shared during "peacock" clinic! Was that something that you came up with yourself, or did someone once pass it onto you?

Peacocking is a term that came from the upcoming book by Neil Strauss called The Game.

5. With the new show, recording of the TPC album, and CFR every weekend; is the Camp Freddy record being put on hold indefinitely?

Well, the band is finished with everything. We are just getting all the guest vocals done but it takes time to try to get everyone's schedule together. I'd say we are like 45% done with the vocals.

Dave- I have to give props to the House Band.

Thank you Dave for the answers! Last night, one of the commercials for tonights show had one of the performances of one of tonights song selection. Just thought that was poor planning on the networks part.

Like with Celebrity Poker Showdown last summer, they were showing commercials to hype the final table - game 5 was just airing at that time - and they showed who was at the final table. They took away the thrill of watching the action unfold to see who that 5th person would be.

It kind of takes away the suspense, know what I mean?

Always . . .

Hello Dave

A few questions about the show (I'm going to the taping tomorrow!):

1) Do the contestants see any part of the aired shows while they are in the house?

2) Will we (the television audience) ever see the results from the online voting - other then the bottom 3?

The segment last night was great - showing song selection process and how they are rehearsing, manipulating the songs to suit their styles... more of this please. Fingers crossed for Mig and Deanna (two of my fav's) they seem to have choosen difficult songs that may put them in peril

Thanks for the answer Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave...Rescue Me is by far the most under rated show on TV. I have falled in love with Denis Leary.

The show has been great, you rock!

Love,

Heyy! Hope all is well. Hey Dave, what do you think of Britney and her new video Someday? I'm only asking because I'm listening to it now, and this is like my third time I think, and I think it's amazing! She looks so... sweet and "pure". anywayss have a nice dayy!

The HOUSE BAND on the show is awesome! Where did u find the band exactly?

The episode last night was great, but I find myself looking foward to the performances more than the "behind the scenes" stuff. I find some of those people come across as whiney. BTW Dave, my 7 year old son LOVED the feather boa.

Glad you liked Rescue Me. I recommend that show to everyone I know. Denis Leary blows me away with his performance. Tommy Gavin is probably the most flawed human being I have come across in a long time, but I can't stop hoping that he redeems himself soon. This new season is killing me so far....

For the person asking about Ana Voog, she's still around.

Her website is still up. She still has the 'pay' section of the site as well as the free areas.....such as her photo archives.

She also has 2 live journals.

Hey Dave,
I have found a site that has 10 listed quotes you have made. One I was laughing at when I saw it was.

"I have never been sexually aroused by a man. But I have yet to kiss Johnny Depp, so you never know."

Did you really say this? If you remember even.

Here is the link for this site.

Dave,

I noticed a certain Pumpkin in 'Don't Try This At Home'.

Do you and Billy keep in touch these days? Seeing as he's in Chicago all the time now, I'm sure people don't see much of him.

Also, have you considered doing any collaborations with him? That would be amazing.

Posted by: Amber Lynn at July 19, 2005 02:38 PM

First off.. Jess, I thought britney's video was bad.. i don't really like the girl, but the video just looked like some of the worst lip synching yet. Dave, can't wait to hear some Camp Freddy! I still love rockstar, I like how it goes into detail about what happens outside of just their one performance. It shows how talented and hardworking they are! Though i do agree with the previews for the show, way too much of a giveaway!

Friday: Last Days or Hustle n Flow?
2. Does the Mrs. listen/keep up with Stern. That Diamond Dave skit ruined the beginning of my mornin. The howardstern.com website was basically dedicated to Beetle the other day. Carmen may wanna check it out. You guys should write a song with that guy! LOL
3. What do you think about FOX news? I think their angles suck and the one thing Im proud of about the hotel I work at (Hilton) is we dont carry them!
4. Did you find the time? For the demo 3:41 sec.

Hope everybodys well n n'joyin their summers!

Hi Dave,
I didn't know who you were when I started watching Rockstar INXS. I had heard of JA and RHCP's, but didn't know any names or likenesses of those playing in the bands. Out of curiosity I started reading your blog. I am glad I did. I wish you and yours a great future. There are so many positive posts from you on this board.
It is really great of you to share some of your experiences and relate them in positive ways.
I had a good laugh at your expense last night. The show was great, and it's really nice of you to try to help others.

Please stop the Paula Abdul-style commentary - you're killing me! I've been a huge fan of everything you've done to date, but on this show, you're really just getting a bit too fake for me.

Dave,

Dave Grohl recently said in an interview that he never quite got comfortable playing drums in Nirvana b/c Cobain never seemed happy with his drumming. And that Cobain only ever complimented him twice on his playing during the span of Nirvana.

It seems you and Perry toward the end kind of had that same animosity. I saw you play The bronco Bowl in 90 and then saw tons of shows after that. BUT, on the Relapse tour and also on the last tour there was no interaction onstage like in the past. Did you ever feel that perry never appreciated your musical ability or the other way around?

just got home and am actually tuning into this...and guess what? someone is butchering one of my fav aerosmith songs on that damn show.

yikes.

Posted by: rxs at July 19, 2005 10:20 PM

Dave, I was listening to Mind Funk's first disc today. And man that record just wipes the floor with any of todays sham rock including Panic Channel, your gay pals in Velvet Revolver and especially the outdated swil of Camp Freddy. Not too mention just crumbling the foundations of modern rock and and all this faux brat punk.

On the other hand, it doesn't come close to touching Jane's. But in a way, Jane's doesn't come close to MF either.

Louis Svitek just shreds. Funny how after that they got Terry Date to produce the second disc. They sounded like the posterboys for bandwagon grunge and a guitar solo was not to be found. Scary and shitty.

Thoughts...

No.

Didn't think so.

Hi
Did you have to know anything about INXS before you did this? Had you even heard of them?

Posted by: tash at July 20, 2005 01:15 AM

hey dave,

i heard and listen to a few sample tracks of your new band, the panic channel. love your guy's cover of led zeppelin's "dazed and confused". do you guys have an idea when your album is coming out? also, i would like to know if you provide any bass vocals on the album. sorry, for asking you so many questions, but...just one more! lol :p i was wondering, how come you don't sing anymore like you did for your solo album, "trust no one" back in the late 90's? for i would love to hear you sing more. as in collaborating with other artists. just featuring your vocals. i would suggest velvet revolver. either a guitar duel with slash or sing along with scott weiland. what do you think?

hope to hear from you,

Christine

p/s: you can either leave a reply here, email me, or leave a message at my xanga site.

Dave,

I can't remember if I've asked this yet or not: are you going to add more to the "whatcha wanna know" section of 6767tv?
thanks a lot.

and, by the way, rockstar is kickass, i'm really enjoying it. and i really LOVE your facial expressions during the performances and advice. outstanding!

Last nights performances, where really good. What day do the performers get their songs - how much time do they get to rehearse? Seeing they have clinics and all and the show is taped two days before it is aired.

Any tension among the group after last nights show? I mean I could see where JD's comments could be viewed in a negative manner.

Always,
me
