Show Time

Still on the slow upswing from the sickness. I've been in bed since the last taping and I'll probably stay there until tomorrow's elimination. I hate eliminations. I know it must happen, but I just get so sad when I see someone go. The problem is that every week that passes, is another week that we bond with the contestants. By week 8, I'm gonna have a nervous breakdown. The comments from the INXS Lounge are a lot more critical this week. Even though it's better for the contestants, so they know what to improve upon, it's not that good for the head. All of us in the lounge are so sensitive. (I'm gonna have to place a huge bottle of Prozac on the table in the lounge this week just in case of emergency.) Also, this is unique because we aren't necessarily looking for the best singer, we are looking for the best singer for INXS. That makes a huge difference. Our comments are more in line with that thinking than anything else. I'll tell you this, there are at least 5 of these people I would work with in a heartbeat and would do anything to help them if I can in the future.

On to other stuff. In keeping with my "Buried In Box Sets" life style as of late, my new obsession is Band of Brothers. I can't believe I never watched it before. Another highly recommended viewing project for those who have never seen it. I'm only 3 episodes in and I am already grieving the fact that it will end soon.

Has anyone here seen the Chris Cunningham/Aphex Twin short film Rubber Johnny? It's probably the most incredible and disturbing 6 minutes I have ever seen on film. Cunningham is a genius. You will love it!

Dave- I hope you get better real soon.

Hmmmmm Which 5 could it be?

Glad you are feeling better, hope you are 100% soon.

Cheers,
Candace

Not sure if you remember Tim from Baltimore? He turns 40 Aug. 5th! HOLLA!

Posted by: Candace at July 26, 2005 12:29 PM

Yes, but how do you feel about Six Feet Under? Admit it, you're glad you're sick so you can catch up with your box sets!

Posted by: Theresa at July 26, 2005 12:30 PM

That video is insane!....I've watched it twice now... Very cool. Thanks for the link.

Posted by: Brett at July 26, 2005 12:40 PM

I hope you feel better soon Dave. My 5 year old is sick as well....high fever, vomiting, so I know what you must be feeling like. My poor little girl is all worn out.

I can imagine how hard it is going to be as the weeks go by. Most of those people deserve it (IMHO), but only one can get it. But I will tune in every week to watch, you bet!!!!

Hey Dave,
Sorry that you stil feel all shi**y, I could send you some soup if you want. :)
Hey is Carmen really back? does she have to go back because I read somewhere the movie doesn't end filming til sept 2nd i think. Maybe you should hire a nurse. :P Well gonna go, but I am so happy you could post. Thanx.

Dave - when was the last time you talked to Perry?

Posted by: DaveGefow at July 26, 2005 12:50 PM

Band of Brothers...not only never watched..never even heard of it! I'll have to check it out.

You would not believe how far behind the curve I am on these things...I just bought the first 3 seasons of The West Wing...I am loving it!!!! I cannot believe that I had never seen this show...I mean, I'd heard of it, of course, just had never seen it.

I really hate watching live TV because I can't stand waiting during the commercials...I'm an instant gratification kind of gal so, these boxed sets are absolutely the way to go, for me.

I guess that was my really, really long winded way of saying thanks for the recommendation Dave!

Feel better :D

Hi Dave,
Sorry to hear you are still feeling grotty.
Band of Brothers is excellent and was based partly and filmed in Aldbourne, about 6 miles from where I am sitting now, in Hungerford in England. Random fact I know, but I just had to share it.
Take good care
Fran.

Posted by: Spookschool at July 26, 2005 12:51 PM

Hi Dave!

Here is a blessing for you:

HEAL!!!!

At sometime, do you think you will let us know which 5 it is? I would like to venture a guess, but you see so much more of them then we do.

How about an update on your car?

Always,
me

My cousin was in Band of Brothers. He plays Lt. Thomas Meehan who is the commander of Easy company after David Schwimmer. Anyways, just thought I'd throw that out there.
Glad to hear you're getting better Dave.

Does anyone else think it's crazy that Steve Isaacs is struggling to make ends meet, while Navarro is probably a millionaire? Steve Isaacs. The new frontman. The songwriter. The singer.

I just read over at Isaacs' website that he's living in this small apartment, and now he has to worry about offending neighbors with his late-night singing + songwriting. Just seems ridiculous. The Panic Channel is a band of "equals"--- but Isaacs lives hand to mouth, in poverty and constant worry.

Dave Navarro wants for nothing. (So it seems.) Dave can just appear in a Boss ad, and get thousands of dollars. And he can agree to sell "Mountain Song" to Coors, in order to pay off debts without dipping into his own coffer. And he can make some steady money hosting Rockstar: INXS. (Even if he isn't hosting primarily for the money, let's face it: he's getting compensated. More than enough to cover "rent.")

Hey, there's nothing wrong with making money. Navarro has earned it. But the disparity between Navarro's income and Isaacs' is a fucking chasm.

Just sounds odd: a millionaire forming a band with a guy who has to struggle to survive. If they want the new project to succeed, wouldn't they want their lead singer to be as creative and comfortable as possible, and not have to worry about where rent is coming from?

Anyway, fuck it all. None of it matters. Maybe it'd be just as weird if Navarro were paying for Isaacs to live in a nice bungalow. Paying for his daily existence. Giving him a salary as the new lead singer.

Maybe Navarro has already spotted Isaacs some money here and there, but just doesn't advertise the fact. Still, the chasm between their lifestyles is insane.

Glad you are feeling better!
This is kind of an odd question but i was wondering if you had seen Rob Zombie's new film "The Devil's Rejects"? If so, i was wondering what you thought of it? i personally was completely disgusted with the way women were portrayed and treated in such a misogynistic manner...even for a 'horror' film. Wondering if you know the guy and could let me into his mind a bit...because personally i no longer respect him, even though i have loved his music for years (but of course yours much more).

Dave,

That clip was disturbing. I'm glad I watched it now instead of later, especially since I have an empty apartment tonight; my imagination runs wild. What is that video of? Is it real? i'm a bit hazy, could you go into it a bit more?

band of brothers rocked...but what has hbo put out recently that doesn't? six feet under is back to form and i couldn't be happier since it is their last season.

bring on the wire and the soprano's goddamnit, but in the mean time, i'll gladly take entourage and six feet.

a bunch of us had what you have, dave, up here in san fran; you'll be better soon.

take care until then.

Love ya Dave. A suggestion for an upset stomach: chew a small bit of raw, peeled ginger root. Know how you're supposed to drink ginger ale when you're sick? Raw ginger works better and you'll not be taking in all the sugar syrup in a ginger ale.
As a transplanted Twin-Citian, I'm rooting for St. Paul resident and performer Jordis. Saw her talking to JD and straightening him out on last night's show, and she's got her head on.

Posted by: Tex at July 26, 2005 01:30 PM

Dave,

Get well soon!

¿Can you believe that it's been 10 years since OHM was released?
WOW! WARPED is still my favorite RHCP song.

Later,
Mike from NYC

PS- I am guessing that JD's version of "We are the Champions" won't suck as much as we think it will.
I love Daphna and Jordis!!!!

Has anyone seen the Documentary DIG!?

Posted by: Sleastack at July 26, 2005 01:46 PM

Hi Dave,

That Band Of Brothers is awsome! I had caught it after it had aired and reran on a different station. I was defintaly hooked myself. The actual interviews with the orginal men portrayed in that were even more interesting. I love watching those kinds of shows. I just caught War Stories this past weekend. About the Korean War. I had tears in my eyes when they interview the actual men and they tell bits of their stories.
Well, glad you're feeling a bit better.

Posted by: Diane/FRI13th at July 26, 2005 01:50 PM

Well, considering the comments regarding that clip I think I'll stay away. It's sounds scary and I'm a big baby when it comes to that stuff. *I close my closet door before bed at night- who knows what could come out of that thing in the wee hours!*

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you're still bedridden. I hope Carmen is home and taking good care of you. Feel better soon.

And just for the sake of saying so- Jordis is my favorite- I think she rocks- really- I'm also very fond of Brandon, he seems to be in a bit of trouble this week though.
JD seems to have talent but needs some work on his people skills. JMHO.

*healthy wishes & prayers for you*
Tracy :)

Hey Dave, everything you have mentioned in the way of DVD series I have enjoyed so much.. just some suggestion, I don't know if you know them, but I thought I would let you know.... Deadwood? Dead Like Me? FireFly? Firefly is so amazing.. unfortunatly it was cancelled like Dead Like Me, but it is quality, there is a movie coming out with all of the same cast.
Anyways, just a thought.

Hope you get better soon Dave. I know exactly how you've been feeling as I've been recovering from an awful sickness and diarrhoea thing myself (brought on by a very bad reaction to a painkiller (Naproxen))a week last Saturday. I couldn't get out of bed!My blood pressure was thru the floor and I blacked out whenever I sat upright. I'm just about ok now.

Even if those on RockStar don't make it, they're all pretty damn good to be brilliant solo artists or work with fantastic musicians like yourself. They all deserve to "make it".

Band of Brothers is really good. If I remember correctly it plays on the History Channel which also is good. You've got good tastes. I am curious who the 5 are in your book (mental notes) from Rockstar INXS. JD, MIG, TY, Jordis and Brandon are the 5 I would listen to. Some of the others on their good nights. I can't wait to see what JD does with "We are the Champions" tonight. It has me nervous for him.
I wish you well as RockStar goes on, I wouldn't want to be there as they get released. It's sad to watch grown people cry like last week when Neal was let go, I couldn't see anything for the running mascara. I have decided who I want to win the spot. I think there are only a couple of them that would "fit". I really hope that a few others go into other bands and keep performing. Several are great, but just don't make me think of INXS when I see them perform.
I do hope you get back to 100% soon. You were missed on the show last night if only from fans (new ones in my case). It just wasn't the same without you.

Posted by: Stardreme at July 26, 2005 03:28 PM

Dave - just curious to why itunes only has Venus in Furs available? I have the Trust No One CD so i can listen to all the songs whenever, but i'm still wondering why itunes doesn't have all your songs.

looking forward to INXS tonight...

I also have a major T.V. on DVD obsession. Mine are more of the lines of Sex & The City and Nip Tuck but I did purchase the Band Of Brothers off Ebay for my husband not too long ago. It must be good because he didn't return from the basement for a good 24 hours or more.
Anyway, I hope you keep feeling better each day!

Seth,

Just so you know - Dave has been a total bro to me in this difficult period I have been going through. When we started the band, and I quit my day gig, I knew that I was in for some trouble ahead. There is no money at all for a long time when you are starting up a band from scratch.

The fact is that we in the band are musical collaborators and friends, and that is the level I like to keep it on. I don't want to be dependant on anybody- my situation is no one's responsibility but mine. That said, Dave has stepped in a couple times when my back was up against the wall, and saved my ass.

It's really not as weird as it may seem, the difference in our situations; we get along like good friends, laugh at the same shit, are blown away by the same art.

Some of my friends have their acts more together like Dave, and some are struggling looking for work. We all get along the same. Our only responibility is to be good friends to each other.

Honestly, I have been making music for a long time, and am more used to being broke than having cash, it ain't such a big deal in the grand scheme.

Posted by: Steve Isaacs at July 26, 2005 05:32 PM

Hi Dave and everyone,

Steve is very nice to clear up that issue, even though, IMO, it's nobody's business but theirs.

Dave - I hope you're feeling better soon. I'm looking forward to seeing you and the gang tonight.

Like you said, it must be hard to let people go after getting to know them and developing an emotional attachment. Hopefully they realize that it's nothing personal, and there can only be one winner.

Thanks for the link. Reluctantly, I tried to watch it, but I get an error message. It's probably for the best, cuz to be honest I was a little afraid. I've seen a few Aphex Twin videos, and one was so bizarre and revolting that it literally gave me the creeps for weeks. That rarely happens to me, so that's really saying something about the director!

Anyway, I hope all is well with everyone. Peace out!

Steve I
That was so nice of you to write. I felt bad for Dave after reading what was written. It's none of my business what anyone makes etc....I did think it was a bit unfair. I'm a capitalist though, so I think go for it. What you wrote as a reply was great to read, relief I suppose for me anyway. You sound as if you do fine. If nothing else, you take it in stride. Keep on Rockin' and I wish you wealth health and happiness (In no particular order)

Posted by: Stardreme at July 26, 2005 06:55 PM

Band of Brothers is amazing. It was so well done. I can watch that all day long for multiple days in a row. Even though your still early on, there is a lot left and it just gets better and better. Enjoy the rest of the series!

CORI!!!! Welcome to the West Wing!! I am a total freak, but am afraid to have it on DVD because, well, I have responsibilities, instead, I glue myself to the TV on Marathon Mondays and every night from 6 to 8 and at 12, I have seen the same episodes probably 20 times each, but catch something I missed EVERYTIME, I find myself making political arguments based on episodes..I voted for Bartlett in the last election, even though he wasn't on the ticket

DAVE!! I love Band of Brothers, like I love ANYTHING Tom Hanks is even remotely involved in, (don't worry, you are still DREAMY)

ok, that's about all the drivel I have for today, Happy Birthday Tana, and dear Dave, look for me and my beautiful son tomorrow, throw us some metal sign!!

Dave, Kudos to you for being sick and sitting through that taping we saw tonight...What happened to them? I had to leave the room a couple of times. A couple of them that usually knock me out with their voices....well, I was about knocked out, but not with song. It was scary a couple of times. Now a couple of them really did great. It wasn't all bad, but I don't think I could have sat there feeling sick.

Dave,

You've now arrived, the new reality show drinking game has a new entry for Rock Star INXS.

Every time Brooke says "rockers", time to take a shot.

I'm sure multiple players are extremely intoxicated after tonights show.

Thanks,

Steve I
Thanks for the clarification.

Dave,
I just finished watching ROCKSTAR. Great episode.
Here are the rockers I voted for tonight:
JORDIS, SUZIE, JESSICA, MIG, TY, TARA, MARTY

I did not vote for these 5 rockers:
BRANDON, HEATHER, JD, DEANNA, DAPHNA

It was tough not to vote for DAPHNA, BRANDON and HEATHER. I like them a lot.

I want to know how other people voted too.

Later,

I've watched inxs up to this point. and i'm starting to loose interest. are you going to perform with the band or anything? I mean the singers are all cool but i'm done watching covers, and workshops. stakes need to be raised or something.

Posted by: matt at July 26, 2005 08:19 PM

Dave, now I see what you mean about comments getting harsher. They need that kind of criticism. Saw more than one bad performance tonight--what the hell happened to them?

Posted by: Lesley at July 26, 2005 08:21 PM

Hi Dave,

I'm now a fan of a reality show and I'm not sure how I feel about that. But I love what's happening on the show and seeing these great new performers. No matter who ends up with INXS, I'll be seeing more of folks like Jordis, Heather, Marty, MiG, and Ty (and Brandon, Suzie)

Almost everybody had a rough night, it was painful to see some of my favorite folks bomb. However, it was good to see how clear and constructive the critiques were. I'll be happy to see them bounce back next week.

Altho Tara needs to chill the back-chat, how's she going to learn anything that way??

Bella

PS. That house band is amazing, I'm starting to replay the performances just to see what they are doing.

Posted by: BellaCrow at July 26, 2005 08:44 PM

Dave*
I have to say that there were more bad performances tonight that good. What the hell happened?? Also, I thought Marty rocked "Lithium" -- what did you not like?? I watched the show tonight with 3 other people and we were all shocked with your comment at the end of his performance -- maybe you have an emotional tie to Nirvana (which I can totally understand) but you have to admit that he pretty much rocked it. Mig, Jordis, Marty, and Ty were the only ones that stood out tonight as good -- everyone else butchered soem great tunes. Glad you are feeling better -- as always you looked HOT!!!! I have to say that I think it would kick ass if you played with the house band sometime -- they have been awesome on every song and could only be better with you on a few.
Take care of yourself -- don't want to relapse.
Keep it real as always!!!!

JORDIS is awesome. I love her voice, her style, and I REALLY love that she made JD keep "We are the Champions!" She is my absolute favorite singer, but I can't see her fronting THIS band. Right now I think the best fit for INXS is definitely Mig. I voted for MIG, Jordis & Ty. IMO Ty is incredible in every performance.
DAVE- the show rocks. It's unique and it's the perfect blend of talent, competition & reality drama. Hope you feel better soon. Check out Six Feet Under- you won't be sorry.

it's strange, i looked up to find the inxs lj community tonight (love the show! love jordis and ty!) and it had a link to your blog so i followed it, and was surprised you still blogged! very cool :)
and then doubly surprised that you said you'd like to hear an update about me. if you'd like, i'll be happy to fill you in with my latest escapades.
did u know that A&E doc you were in that had me in it was finally released?
also been in a few more documentaries. doing multimedia events, one for australia on thursday, still doing my cam (8 years now), and oddly i have been obsessed with crocheting very avant garde hats! it's very meditative :) and i'm working on a gazillion other projects including new music.

I loved your critiques on the show. lol. Made me laugh, I wouldn't think you were so 'sensitive'. I think everyone was great until Brandon hit the stage. From there it was iffy. I love Jordis. If they don't take her, I hope someone other band will!!! She friggin rocks!!

Hope you feel well soon...I had the flu a month ago, knocked me out for a week. Yuck.

Hey Dave and all,
Hey guys I just really want to vent right now, and I am NOT looking for pity or anything just venting only. I can't sleep tonight. So many things are going through my mind and I am really down right now. I just miss being myself, in the last few years so many things have changed in my life and some for the better, but I feel like something is missing. I used to have so much fun with life and be so spontaneous, but for the past few years I have lost touch with my old self. I really can't get into it to much because it really is a long story. But I think this will help just to get it out, for now. Sorry Dave just needed to get it out.

hi Dave! You looked so great last night! Especially for being under the weather! You're just plain old BEAUTIFUL! And as for your comments...someone's got to tell them right? I agreed with your opinions, but it must be hard to tell them in person huh? I was shocked at some of the poor performances from some of the people that have rocked the stage before. Must have been a bad night for a lot of them. Hard to pick the worst 3 as there was a few. Can't wait till tonight's show!

My only regret is that I did not get to see the famouse "Dave pants" that I'd heard so much about!!!

I wish us Brits could vote on this INXS thing too. Be good if the Aussies could as well. It's in America, and it's catering to American tastes. Is that what INXS want? Do they plan to be catering to American tastes?
I'm noticing some sharp differences between who people are saying they voted for, and who I would have voted for. I watched the Neal singing the Summer of '65 song episode, and yeah, well he was pretty monotone, too bad..that song isn't a winning song, using a guitar wasn't too savvy either. But he's a good performer, has a good attitude, and I think he's great, and hope he does well.
I enjoyed Marty, Mig, and (damn, I'm fogetting the names) Jordan is it, the CCR thing was hot!! JD was good, but he's got to tone his ego down. Ty has an incredible voice, but I wish he'd stop singing 'AT' people. I dunno, I guess show some 'softness'. I'm sad to say, I'm not so impressed with the women. Too much wailing, and screaming at the top of their lungs going on. (OUCH) Powerful voices yes, but it isn't doing it for me. Some soul would be nice. Sorry folks, the impression I'm getting is the women aren't that much different from each other voice-wise, they're all trying to belt it out. I just can't stand that, even if I am impressed by their power! Jordis, who everyone seems to be raving about, wasn't too good at all on the show I just watched. I want to see them be 'more feminine' I guess. Back to balancing the hard with the soft, there, same as with Ty.
Critique by me, just for the hell of it.

Hi all,

Last night's "Rock Star" was entertaining, to say the least. Good TV, some not-so-great singing. My views are on the TPC board... I think a lot of us are on the same page about the contestants. IMO, the true "stars" are clearly shining more and more.

As for Rubber Johnny - I did some research on it out of morbid curiosity, learned what it's about. I found some other sites where you can view it if the other link doesn't work. I LISTENED to it, but I'm still building up the cojones to actually look at it. If Dave... DAVE... finds it disturbing, I can only imagine its traumatizing effect on me!

Anyhow, I wish everyone a beautiful day. May the only thing disturbing in your lives today be the art that you consume or create. (If that's your thing.)

Love,
-Denise

glad to hear you're feeling better Dave. just spent the last three weeks battling that friggin flu.
it would be nice to see the singers sing more INXS songs to really determine who would be best for them. i have to agree with a former post about there being some great singers in that group - but not for INXS. i would definately like to hear more of Heather, Jordis and Daphna - as solo artists.

and how come there are no NIN tunes on the board for them to cover?? eh??

Hey Everyone! Dave- feel better, you're hot. I must watch Band of Brothers, I hear it's amazing. Seriously, if you're in to British humor...Coupling is FABULOUS!!!! Get season one, a bottle of wine(or soda) and enjoy.

Posted by: Leah at July 27, 2005 10:19 AM

I like the perspective you put feeling better into - the whole part about feeling spiritually renewed and happier... Of course, anyone is happy to not have a trash can sitting next to the bed, along with a tissue shoved in their nose from the Niagra Falls of... well you know what I mean! :)

Hope you get better soon!! Some of those singers on last nights show just KILLED the songs they sang!!! Drove me mad!!!

Take care!

Thanks.. and Get Better!!

Hi all, and hi Dave!

Hope your feeling better. I had some shit similuar last week. Man....you wouldn´t wish that on your worst enemy....or maybe you would :) I´ve gotta ask you...have you heard any swedish music..(exept ABBA) and if so...anything you like? There´s an awesome band called "Infinite mass" that you should check out. Really goood.

I have kind of a silly question...at parties, after a few drinks we always start to ask eachother silly things. And one that always comes up is wich top three people of the opposite sex you would have sex with. Like to share yours? Pliiiizzzzz....If you show me yours, I´ll show you mine ;)

Ok...be good and healthy, Dave....I´m signing off to watch "Eternal sunshine of the......" I´m a bit behind, I know...

Oh...one more thing I´ve been wanting to ask you...What part of Mexico did your grandfather come from? I´ve got family in different parts, so I´m just curious.

Love Always, Emelie

Dave -

Speaking of your love of box-sets, I'm curious if you've checked out the Twin Peaks box set, and if so what was your take on that series.

Myself - I think it was the best show ever aired on television. Flawless.

I just read that your lovely wife posed for pictures with Jordan and you were pretty upset that you werent at the shoot at the time the pictures were taken. Is that true? Those pictures must be pretty darn GOOD!!

The next day and these performances are sticking with me...(in a good way) Deanna, Marty, Mig, and Suzie. It hit me like a ton 2day that the best part of this show, considering the performances last night were off, at best, is seeing the happiness and anticipation of being able to do what they love again will soon be there for them. The tragic and untimely death of Michael left the surviving members at a loss on so many levels, and it is awesome to see their faces, so very happy. peace, ck

Hi Dave,
The show is really fun! I love seeing the talent. My favorites from the get-go have been Marty, Jordis, Daphna. I am on the fence about a couple of others, at least for INXS. But if you actually read this I have to admit, YOU are the real draw, for me anyway. I have to confess I really haven't kept up with my rock news and history the past decade much, who's who and doing what. I didn't even really know who you were, sorry. BUT, when I saw you on the show I was absolutely intrigued. I was so impressed with the poise of all INXS guys and yourself. Critisms are well said and really You and the guys are just so nice. And HOT, oh my God. So I looked you up. What is this guys story. Your story is fascinating and I found my intrigue to be well founded. The biggest reason being your rehab. I have just come out the other side of a relationship that went full circle in that area. My boyfriend had the same problem and I have seen the ugly destruction AND happily the Light of recovery. I was the bystander but had a crucial role in the success or failure. It was one of the most life sucking experiences I've endured and lasted about 4 years in all. I have immense respect and draw such inspiration from anyone who can survive it and come out staight and still reinvent thier lives. So Kudos dude. I am a new fan!! I will be checking out your new music and I think this site of yours is just the coolest. Thanks

Hi All
Helena, I don't know you, but wished I could give you a hug. How about a cyber hug? Hang in there. We all have bad days. You didn't want pity, but I teared up reading your note. I just wanted to say hang in there. One day at a time and maybe make a list of the things you miss, even if a mental note. Work as best you can to find something to make you smile.

HI ALL!!! I had to go pay a speeding ticket today and when I had my checkbook out the weirdo lady behind the glass asked me "who is that 'ya got there on your checkbook cover?" I said "oh that's Dave Navarro" she looked at me like who the hell is that?...so I said "Red Hot Chili Peppers?" she still looked confused...then I said "Jane's Addiction?" still nothing...so I said "do you know the new show Rockstar INXS?" BINGO!!! Finally she realized who he was and says "OH HE'S HOT!"
If I wasn't standing near uniformed police officers I would have reached thru that small opening and grabbed her by the throat! I get a lot of people's attention with my checkbook cover of Dave...so does hubby! He always complains when he has to use the checkbook for anything, people look at him weird with this half-dressed man on his checkbook cover! I DON'T SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS!!! TAKE CARE EVERYONE! DAVE!!! Did you see me today? Probably not, cause I felt so short next to my boy, he INSISTS that Daphna and Brooke both smiled and waved at them, and to think, he didn't want to go at first, now, he says he will go again

As for your comment to the audience after the show, I totally agree!!

one more thing(HAH), it's nice to see you looking more Dave-like!!

I was taken aback with the outcome tonight. Not that I don't agree, just didn't think it would end that way. Your words to them Dave, really nice. Though when your voice cracked, I about cracked. Teary eyes all around. I know it won't get easier for you to sit in on, but I hope not too emotional. They sang so much better tonight too.

Posted by: Stardreme at July 27, 2005 06:30 PM

Dave,

I definitely agree with Stardreme about tonights show.
The 2 things that I am surprised about are: (1) JD is still around and
(2) Daphna is not.
Amazing!
Don't worry Dave. I would have cried too!

Dave --
Wow......those zipper pants you wear are smoking!

You were never on my "radar" before but when the INXS show started I found your blog and enjoy reading it! I can tell that you are extremely intelligent through your writing. It is so cool that you are so comitted to communicating to your fans.

Hey isn't Carmen from Cincinnati? When are you guys going to visit? I think we could use someone like you for the Mayor of Cincinnati! If you guys visit, I'll hook you up with some Cincinatti Chili and Grater's!

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Posted by: Kathy at July 27, 2005 06:44 PM

I can't believe that JD was not in the final 3. He totally blew last nights performance and he's just about as cocky as a rooster could get. Daphna & Heather should have stayed. I guess no sympathy for someone coming down with a cold huh? Heather rocked the other performances as well as Daphna. Definitely a bad choice, but then again, that's just my opinion! Anyway....once again, you looked as sweet as could be, you handsome devil you! And as for the comment about you looking more "Dave like". Yes, I agree...LOOKING AWESOME! Can't wait to see ya on tv next week! I'm in heaven with 3 times a week!

Feel better =}

I would be the same way. But it's good to be sensitive and not as just some thick rock that's unaffected with such things.

I haven't been able to watch as much as the show as I've been wanting to, due to work. It saddens me =/

And oh my god! Rubber Johnny is insane, but I'm in love ^_^

Posted by: Indubitably at July 27, 2005 06:46 PM

Dave, my mom called and she said "hey have you seen that show where they try out singers for a band..." I said -- "Rockstar INXS? No but I've been meaning to... one of my fav. musicians hosts that... y'know Dave Navarro?" And then she went on to say how cool a guy you were, and down to earth - and I was telling about how you interact with your fans online, and that you've been through so much stuff - and still come out as a funny, easy-going guy. So, I think we got a new Navarro fan. I'll have to send her a Dave Mix cd!

BTW, she thinks you're gorgeous.

Hey Dave,
I just wanted to first of all say that I hope you feel better real soon. Being sick is no fun at all. Also, even though you've heard it a million times, I just had to once again thank you for being so down to earth. It's so cool that you can find the time to interact with your fans. It's so cool that you do that. I bet I can count the number of rock stars who do that on one hand. Well always good to hear from ya. Hope you feel better.

WHAT THE FUCK KINDA CHICKEN SHIT WAS THAT TONIGHT? HEATHER SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SENT HOME SIMPLY BECAUSE SHE WAS SICK. I GUARANTEE THAT EVEN MICHAEL HUTCHENCE (RIP) HAD AN OFF PERFORMANCE OR TWO. NO ONE IS PERFECT, AND EVEN WITH HER BEIN SICK SHE STILL BLEW JD FUCKHOLE OFF THE STAGE. JD CAN FUCK'N SUCK IT!!! IF HE'S CHOSEN, INXS WILL BE LOSING A LIFELONG FAN. IM OFFICIALLY FASTING UNTIL U BRING BACK "BUTTERFLY GURL" I THINK SHE IS THE 2ND STRONGEST NEXT TO JORDIS IN BOTH VOCALS AND STAGE PERFORMANCE. SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN IT MUCH LONGER TO THE END.IM SERIOUSLY BUMMIN' NOW. BAD DECISION INXS!!!

Dave...I feel bad that, in getting caught up in the excitement of the show/contest, some of my/our remarks may be upsetting to you...I know some the contestants may have come to mean something to you, and I personally don't mean to slam your friends...I just don't have that personal connection so I'm getting caught up in the competitive aspect and the game.

Peace...goodnight

Posted by: Cori at July 27, 2005 10:00 PM

Helena
I think we all go through bad moments in our lives. I found it's better to vent some times, let it out. I watched the squirrel and that was a funny thing to wake up to. I tried to read the words, but being half asleep and smiling at the same time does not help. Think positive and do your best to hang in there. Watch that squirrel a few times. I would say go shopping, but I hate shopping and that never works for me =-)

Smiles

Posted by: Stardreme at July 28, 2005 02:51 AM

Cori, well spoken. I was thinking that too, after I wrote my critique. We don't know these people personally, and haven't met them, we don't see them, and we aren't really connected to them. I felt bad too, when I thought about that. I so agree. And Dave, I know it must be tough dealing with it all. Seeing people leave. I feel for them. Rejection is tough to handle.
We are viewers though, and it's been set up as a very strong competition, and with the viewers voting, and people who were/are INXS fans..all makes it emotional for the viewer as well.

Sorry you have been ill. l have loved watching the show and will be sorry to see it end. I see how much you care about the contestants. Even when they sass back "Well, I believe in myself" and your first impulse might be to say "Believe this!" and give them the finger...you instead turn it back into positive feedback for them. I am very impressed with you. I am one of those rare people who didn't know who you were and am liking what I am seeing...Thanks! Also, years ago when I tried to make it the credentials weren't always a great voice but killer body. Nice to see that INXS is interested in more than just looks. I could gush on but I guess I should shut up now..

Posted by: Lyn at July 28, 2005 05:46 AM

I got a question for ya Dave. And it's gonna hurt!

Why don't you ever run your delay pedal in the effects loop of your JCM 900?

You do realize it will sound better right?

Meaning it will be clearer and that spacey trippy wah-delay thing you got going for you will even sound better.

Just my 2¢

Actually any modulation effect would sound better there. Chorus, Flange, Phaser, etc.

Posted by: Zimphire at July 28, 2005 06:12 AM

BTW if you don't answer that question, I am afraid I will have to tie Carmen up, and furiously rub Crisco™ on her elbows.

And you don't want that to happen now do you?

Posted by: Zimphire at July 28, 2005 06:14 AM

Anyone who has watched a Mark Burnett show should remember to expect the unexpected. Just wait until JD wins immunity....

Posted by: Schwing at July 28, 2005 06:42 AM

Dave, you just can’t win! First you get crap for being too nice to the contestants. Then you voice your opinion (to Marty) a LITTLE bit, and apparently you got flak for that too, since you had to backtrack a little and temper that comment last night to make it more supportive. I say--stick to your guns. Be critical (your type of criticism isn’t mean), it will only help them all in the end, because if they don’t make it with INXS, at least they’ll have learned valuable lessons for their future careers. If you are too nice, they won’t benefit. Other than that, you were great, as usual. Not enough camera time, though! Will you be performing occasionally like they guys did last night? Hope you’re feeling better.

Posted by: Sue at July 28, 2005 07:45 AM

Morning Dave*
Thought the show last night was good but was surprised that 2 people went home. I thought that maybe Heather should have been cut a little slack since she has been sick (that can throw anyone off), and she has had had a rockin voice in every past performance -- Oh well. Should be interesting to see what happens now. BTW, you looked HOT as usual -- hope you are 100% well after being sick. Already looking forward to next weeks shows. Hey, and since 2 guys from INXS got up and performed with the rockers last night, maybe you should too :) Love to see that!! Tell those cameramen to get some more shots of Dave!!! The fans want what they want ;)
