Cheers Dave. I was on the underground this morning and just missed the attacks. Wasn't allowed on my flight to Berlin so had to come bacak through Liverpool St which was hit. If I'd been there half an hour later I'd have been caught up in all this shit. Hope it doesn't put you off coming to town mate.

Feeling for London....
On a brighter note, here's a link that shows the performances from most of London, Philly and Toronto Live 8 gigs. I say most because Neil Young is blaringly not on the Toronto list....

Hey Dave, I was curious; are you into jazz/rock fusion or fusion guitarists at all (i.e. Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Tony MacAlpine, Greg Howe, etc.)?

I'm in London right now, quite close to where most of the bad stuff went down. I have to say that the emergency services have been outstanding. They have been professional and strong. Whatever you think of Blair his message to the nation and the world was heartfelt and correct. Livingstone's message was also strong and summed up the spirit of London. We are a city of diversity and as diverse as we are we will stand shoulder to shoulder, regardless of race, colour, religion or any difference because we are London and we are people.

I hope by now everyone is starting to understand the true nature of those who do these things. They care nothing about destroying innocent lives and spreading a message of fear and despair. We cannot pretend it isn't happening anymore, or that us "just leaving them alone" will make this go away. Their savagery and barbaric actions must be met in kind. God Bless you London. The world is praying for you on this dark day.

Somehow I managed to get into work (Which is on The Mall) by bus which went through the City without being bombed and am overlooking Big Ben. However How I will get back to Hackney I don't know.
Hackney got the Olympics and now we have all these bombs - it's like it's not really real.

thanks dave...there is a stupid prick at work who keeps telling people "i bet it was the french" i just feel like choking him by his neck and slamming his face in the computer screen...i hate this world and i hate the fact that it could have happend to any of us without knowing, playing russian roullete just catching a train... i hope us londoners will be a bit kinder to each other every morning from now on during those rush hour times :( ... may put on a bit of ZZ top now (eliminator is such a quality album)

it is so scary. i often travel down to London for gigs and i like to get through the stations as quick as possible, because you just have to - you don't when things like this are going to happen and unfortunately it has.
There's rolling news coverage on UK tv and the images are horrifying.
Let's pray for everyone.

This is just horrible. Despite my views against the G8, the worst and most ineffective way to attempt bringing about change is through violence and such disgusting disregard for innocent people. I hope whoever set these bombs off gets a punishment much, much worse than what those innocent people suffered.
It's just not right...ugh.

I just woke up now, and Came here. I saw the picture of Big Ben and then was like "Oh shit...What happened?" So I turned it on to TNN and saw "breaking news" and was reading it but I still don't quite understand. I know something was bombed, London was bombed... But where/what did they bomb? Big Ben?
Sorry, I should be more aware in this case.
My prayers are with London. My wishes and hopes are for the families. God Bless them all.
Be Well,

As a Londoner I feel very strongly that this appalling horror could have been completely avoided: if Tony Blair hadn't bombed Iraqis and Afghans then this wouldn't have happened. It's as simple as that. It's always the innocent people who suffer never those who cause it.

Thanks to all for the prayers, but if little britain gets pissed off enuff, we WILL kick the ass of whoever is responsible, we have done all thru history, proven fact...most of us brit 67'ers have family who have fought, and in some cases died for our country(mainly our grandparents) and I think we owe it to the older generation to pull together(Either by protest or violence) to let them know that their struggles back in the day are appreciated and respected and were not for fuck all. It would be amazing if we could get through this new fear we face as humans by protests, but lets be fair... it's like Dennis Leary said "You can have a big democracy tank drive thru Tiennaman Square and it don't make a blind bit of fucking difference"
Faced with this fear, keep the words of another american in mind "Fight fire with fire". I think its time that we addressed these issues, but I'm also a realist, so lets start with our own fucking government.
On a lighter note, just watched Motley at Live8(thanx for the feed rick) is it me, or with the fat face and cazy moustache, doesn't Vince Neil look like Don Ameche.
Be safe, be happy
(And if only for tonight, save a prayer for every1 in the world who just wants peace and prosperity for every1)!

What can you say, these gutless faceless fucks are trying to get us all in a grip of fear again, What they fail to realise is that throughout history we(Britain) have always faced adversity and struggle, and always kicked ass. Most of us here have family(Mainly grandparents) who have fought and died in wars for us all to live free and equally, and I'll be fucked if that was all in vain. I am realistic about this whole thing though, and to fight this we need to adress our own government first(especially Phoney fucking Tony).. It's good to know we have friends who care across the water though, you have shown us the way with the dignity and grit you showed during and proceeding 9/11, for that we salute you...if we dig in and keep each others interests at heart i'm sure we can overcome these fucks(if they ever grow enough sack to show their faces) it doesn't have to be bombs and war either, no weapons, just fist fights in car parks worldwide is the way to go I say...
On a lighter note, just watched Motley at live8(thanks rick) is it just me, or with the new fat face and crazy moustache, is Vince Neil starting to look like Don Ameche?

I am so sorry for the tragedy in London. I remember the sense of overwhelming loss we felt here in the Washington DC area, and how vacant NYC felt when I visited after 9/11. It is surreal when your city is "invaded" you feel out of sorts for months afterward.
God Bless

Well, even though it may not be my place thanks for your prayers. I live in London between the stations/bus routes where all the shit happened and it was fucking terrifying. From where I was today all I could hear was chaos and sirena nd helicopters it was horrible. My heart goes out to everyone who has a loved one affected by this. The thought at so many people hurt or killed in such a disgusting, inhumane senseless way makes me sick with rage and I hope to any power there may be above me that this never happens again.

My condolences to the Brits. You know we know how you feel and we are totally with you. Love to all. Cat, hope your family is okay.
I have to say, I absolutely adore Tony Blair. As someone else said, he is completely sincere in his resolve to fight terrorism. He sees radical Islam as the cancer it is and I love him for that. The sooner the rest of the civilized world accepts that fact, the sooner the free world will be able to live in peace (peace of mind!) as we all deserve to be able to do.
K, sorry about that. But really, fuck those twisted bastards!

the world we live in today is a sad one...where cultures feel they have to bomb other cultures, and we're intolerant of cultures different than ours. My deepest sympathy and heartfelt well wishes go out to all the brits on the board. As a NYC resident, who actually saw the towers fall from my high school window...i know how scary, confusing, and angering this type of situation is. Try to hang in there, and know, that things will get better, but will never be the same again.

A Review of Carmen's movie "Dirty Love"...(by a movie connoisseur no doubt about)
"There were points in this movie where my friends and I could not stop laughing. Carmen Elektra was so into her role it took us a while to realize it was her. Jenny McCarthy is a genius with physical comedy and her writing was amazing. We caught the premiere at Sundance and it was worth the two hours we waited in line. The friendships between the three main female characters reminded us all why it is we take this trip every year. Jennys writing depicted the difference between dirty love and pure love in such a way that you had to laugh with her, cry with her, and mostly just cringe with her. Eddie Kaye Thomas plays the every man with his heart on his sleeve and makes you want to cuddle up with him. I have talked non stop about this movie to everyone who wanted good recommendations at Sundance. Not a chick flick by any means, but a movie for everyone. Excellent."
Posted by: rick at July 7, 2005 08:58 PM

Well, a strange and sad day has come to an end. Not much I can add that hasn't been said. I just hope everyone is safe and warm... and I too will pray that this never happens again. Unfortunately, as long as there are sick, devious people out there with twisted agendas, unfair crap like this will happen.
Good night, God bless, and give the ones you love a big hug.
Peace and hugs,

Today is not a great day....feeling down and out. What the hell is up with the world?! I`m loosing all hope in man kind. I´m actually dead afraid of letting my three year old daughter grow up in this hellhole. It makes me feel so sad that people are gonna be afraid for the rest of their lifes of something like this happening again. This just shows that no one is ever really safe. My prayers goes out to all of you who in some way were affected by all this that happened in London. Take care of yourselves and the ones you love, and live every day like it`s the last.
Love Emelie

Hi Dave
You forgot to mention in your movie review that War of the Worlds was a comedy. I've never laughed so much in a movie in ages. I think they got the genre wrong. HA HA HA HA

Love & Prayer's to everyone in London. Kudo's to the post re-affirming what SHOULD be obvious, but apparently isn't, to all... the fact that we can't ignore this, and expect it to just go away. We had/have no choice but to stand up and fight. It's a sad statement of the world, and where it's headed, but bless everyone in England, the only real country to stand side by side with the U.S. since day 1 (whether the citizen's wanted to or not, which you didn't...). You guy's are tough. Been through it with the IRA. We here in the U.S. could learn alot from the Brit's about standing shoulder to shoulder, instead of coming together over a tragedy, then re-dividing within a week. One of our greatest privilages is one of our greatest weaknesses. It's great that we're a "Melting pot", but unfortunately, when a tragedy occur's, there's too many people with agenda's more important to them than being "American" and standing tall, together. Instead, we divide. 30 People, from 30 different countries, equal's 30 different agenda's. Divide & Conquer? One of, if not the oldest plan of war, still appear's to be a viable way to fight America. If one thing is for sure over here, it's that we will alway's be split, so stand together UK, and show the US, how important unity is in these uncertain time's...
