Day Off

Navarro2_adUnfortunately, there is no CFR tomorrow. Indie is broadcasting live from the San Diego Street Scene and our show will be pre-empted. Just as well, as I have dinner plans and can't make it anyway. I finished Band of Brothers last night. What a masterpiece. It's like an 11 hour Saving Private Ryan. Now I have moved on to The Grid. It's kind of like Alias meets 24. Still waiting on the latest West Wing to come out. I miss my friends on the Bartlet Staff.

I spent the day yesterday with all of the remaining contestants at the mansion. Only 10 left. We hung around, talked about song selection, how they miss their loved ones and had a new clinic. Such a great group. When I'm walking around that place, I can hear different voices singing from all over the house, practicing, riffing and going over songs. Honestly, it would drive me absolutely insane if I lived there, but for a half a day or so, it's kind of entertaining. It almost feels like a rock and roll camp.

Today is a full day off. I get to try to put my actual life together by finishing up some TPC business, hit the gym and MAYBE, get my car back. This summer job I have has been very good for my soul in terms of stepping out of my band for a second to get a breath of air, gain some perspective and really think about the record without doing much to it. I am really excited to get back to the studio and finish it up when we are done shooting. It is a weird parallel it terms of working on a show where an unknown singer is going to work in a well known act, and being in a group where we have hired a relatively unknown singer. Plus, Camp Freddy is all about working with new (to us) and inspiring vocalists as well. I must say, although there are so many talented singers on the show, I couldn't be happier with the job that Steve Isaacs is doing with us.

My wifey comes home soon!

First? I think so!

Is TPC still shopping around for a label, or do you still have to fulfill obligations from your former label

wow dave have a great day off!

good luck on getting your car back!!

Take care family!

Dave!

With Carmen being gone, how do you do alone? I know some people love it; I personally can't stand it, and find myself trying to be around people, calling them, etc. Just curious...

It's great that you have a day off! It's nice when you can just do what you want. Enjoy it!

It sounds like it is a great time at the house. It must be hard for them to be away from their famlies. I couldn't do it. You must know all about that though with Carmen. At least she is coming home soon!

Hello? Is this the complaint department? I really like Steve I's voice, and think he's really talented. The only thing that kind of "turned me off" to him was that he'll more than happily trash other artists. I mean just because i don't appreciate some of the new stuff out there as far as "poppy" stuff anyway, I wouldn't call it "shit" publicly. That's something Chaney, Perk and you are all above and beyond I think. But he's fairly new to this, and he'll learn:)

Hi Dave

How did you come to play guitar on NIN's Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now)? Did you go into the studio with Trent or did you record the guitar part then give it to him to use?

Any chance of Trent remixing a TPC song for future release as a B-Side etc? Would that be in keeping with your vision for TPC?

Posted by: Michael at July 29, 2005 08:56 AM

Dave not sure if anyone's asked this one but...how are dig'n Ashley 'n Jared dating??? Sounds like your boy is gett'n a nice little treat!!! Tell me your thought.

I'm kind of bumbed that I've missed both Wednesday nights of INXS!!! I was looking forward to the elimination and wasn't sure if the encore thing was a weekly deal. Jordis, Suzie and Mig were awesome on Tuesday. I'm really curious how Marty did on his encore. I thought the first lithium attempt was ok but a little too reserved. I really like Jessica from the start and I'm feel'n a little ifffy about J.D. now. Really look'n forward to Monday and for sure setting the alarm for 9pm on Weds. I can't believe I like this show. I never get to watch TV, but this one is good and it's kick'n my ass staying up late to watch it, but of course totally worth it. I love you guys are so truthfull but at the same time sensative and compassionate to the rocker's. I just love seeing that level of purety!!!

You are definately the best and enjoy seeing your example of a being!!! How's Carmen? Bet you guyz can't wait to cuddle and get down to being "reunited cause it feels sooooo good!!!!"

As for the Box sets, catching up on past seasons of CSI's, last night was "Lady Heather's Box"...I love Lady Heather, too bad she's only in I think 2 episodes. Want to see more of her for sure.

Enjoy your day, cause I wish it was a day off for me, I know I'm gonna be slow at the office today...I already miss my warm bed!

Kisses
Chrissy

Is the CF show next Friday open to the public?

Thanks!

*laughs* You and the Box Sets. It makes me giggle! My dad has the Band of Brothers box set and he has pretty much the same feelings about it as you do. He absolutely loves it. I think he's watched it 3 or 4 times since he's had it... I haven't brought myself to watching it yet. Been too busy lately.

If you dont mind, I have a question for you.

To my best knowledge, You have a couple White Paul Reed Smith 6 string guitars. Are they all Santana's or is there other kinds in there as well?

Be Well,
~Shannon~

PS> I have a Black Gibson Epiphone G-400 Custom and it's REALLY GREAT, but I wanted to know what you thought of them. :)

Hey Dave...your next Box set should be Queer As Folk! This show is SO good! Its a Showtime show. Its more than most people precieve it to be. Very intense and entertaining. ~Peg

Hello, Dave,

I wondered what the mood was in the house, with a double elimination? Do you have any input as to which songs get picked for the show?

Monday night won't get here soon enough!

Great picture! Car next?

Has Carmen seen the show? What does she have to say about it?

Always,
me

Can I just say that no matter how I feel about some of the contestants on "INXS", I LOVE THE HOUSE BAND!!! They seem like cool guys, and they are great musicians. Sometimes I think they do certain people favors they may not earn on their own.

Dave u stud u!!! I just got off the phone with a new client from CA and he sounded just like you on the phone all husky and breathin' in my ear...dam I need some air in this office, I felt myself blushing just talkin to this dude...unreal, see what u do to women "P

you said, "I miss my friends on the Bartlet Staff."

Can't agree more, but wonder what they'll do when the current faux administration has to vacate the premises... I'd rather see the Bartlett administration in actual power than what we currently have at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Dave,

I like the show and I like that you and INXS are being more critical in a good way. It was too sugary in the beginning (still can be at times). Glad things are going well. We need another TPC gig! have a fantastic weekend and lay off the smokes.

Hey Dave! Life sounds busy... dont let it hurt you. Aw Carmen is coming home. When? And how long has she been gone? Thats gotta be exciting. Actually last Monday my boyfriend left for college in Tennessee and I thought it was horrible because he was gonna be far for soo long but then I thought ya know Carmen and Dave do this all the time so this isnt gonna kill me. So that kinda helped and me and my family are going down 9 days after my birthday and we'll see him and do somethings down there. But anywaysss Have a nice dayy!

I know, I am SO conflicted, should I vote for Bobby Simone or Hawkeye Pierce, and what about my Toby? I swear, if Toby leaves the White House....I'll...I'll...do something!!!

So, who has your vote, Dave, or have you seen any episodes from the season just ended, I barely saw any myself, stupid SCHOOL!!!

By the way, is there anything cuter than Dave referring to his love as 'wifey'? I think NOT!!!

love to all

"To my best knowledge, You have a couple White Paul Reed Smith 6 string guitars. Are they all Santana's or is there other kinds in there as well?"

They are Dave Navarro models. :)

http://www.prsguitars.com/showcase/current/navarro.html

They are basically PRS customs.

Posted by: Zimphire at July 29, 2005 03:24 PM

BTW it says Dave that you have been playing PRS guitars since 1987.

And we know that isn't true. :p

You didn't start playing them till the 91 Lolla shows.

Posted by: Zimphire at July 29, 2005 03:27 PM

Your day off is about over...but I hope you had a great one!

I was thinking you would be an easy person to buy a gift for, "box sets", but then again it sounds as if you have everything already.
Is there anything you want to see that you haven't been able to find in "box sets"?

Posted by: Stardreme at July 29, 2005 04:05 PM

Hey, just read 'WHORES' & 'don't try this at home'... It t'was a good read! I was a bit jolted by the end bit, the 'Love' stuff was great, but I felt there was bit of cheap cashin'n with 'Courtney'?! And what tha FUCK is with this INXS shite?! The mans dead, no need to 'flog a dead horse'... I've been livin' in London U.K. 4 10yrs, and haven't seen tha show, but....... Much Lovin', I look forward 2yer response. P

Posted by: Elizabeth at July 29, 2005 05:11 PM

Dave,
Definitely try the Queer as Folk DVD set next. It is interesting and intense as Kyle above said. It never gets too preachy either. What is Carmen filming anyway?

Ooh, hope you have a wonderful day off! As for the box sets... I've heard that Queer as Folk is great. It's a favorite for a lot of people. :)

"You're a really good writer."
Posted by: luckyspinster

Yup! I'll throw my 2 cents in and agree with that one. Remember what I said last year about the way your intellect shows and the way your education shows? I suspect we can get Jezebel to agree with that as well....
'Neida

Posted by: oneidafish at July 29, 2005 06:07 PM

You betcha!! I suspect Dave is more edumacated than I am, well, I would suspect most of you here are as well. Dave makes smart sexy, I mean, it takes a smart guy to be funny, you know. And you don't get knowledge just from books, my principal was telling me just today that there is a big difference between education and knowledge, and my mom used to always say that just because I was smart, didn't mean I had any sense...

ok, long story short, Dave ain't stupid none!!

jezzi(did I mention he was easy on the eyes?)

I still got shotgun. Double, no, triple called it. Don't even think about it, Brett. The TPC mobile-fuck yes! Oh, dude, before you get it out, make them program the notes from the chorus of "Go On" into the horn! You know, the hammer part, "..all been said AND done"-get it? Go On, as in get the fuck out of the way, here comes the TPC mobile! It's only right.

Hi, Dave. It's good 2 know that Carmen is finally come back home from work. My question is this. That necklace she brought u 4 ur birthday... Do u ever wear it? If so, u gotta have it on 4 1 of the RSINXS tapings. I think that it would b so thoughtful and cute. And it would kinda b like a reminder 2 her that u miss her.

Dave I really love the show and the talent is amazing but, I just don't see any of them being able to fill Michael's shoes. How can any body else sing Don't Change?
It will be interesting...and entertaining

Posted by: himjill at July 29, 2005 09:19 PM

Zimphire:

Thanks for the link! I wanna get me one of those guitars for sure! Dave sure knows what he likes, and I like what he likes in a guitar too!

Be Well,
~Shannon~

Dave
I was wondering the same thing another person wrote on the previous entry string. If they get to the end and feel none of the people would be good as a front for INXS, then what? I think there are a couple that could do it, but my opinion doesn't count for much at the end of the day. Their's is all that matters. I think they will choose one of them, but after Wednesday, seems anything is possible!
I hope all are having a great weekend!

Dave, try and listen to CoasttoCoastam.com tonight, at 10 p.m. between 600 and 700 am radio. They will talk about the crap in your Diet sodas, and why you should get this chemical out of your bloodstream immediately.

Dave, you know your my man and everything but......... I was watching VH-1's Least Metal Moments last night and you made an appearance. They showed the Mariah Carey video for the cover of Def Leppard's "Bringin On The Heartbreak" and lo and behond there YOU are!!!! Dave, Dave, Dave.... why did you do it?!?!?
