Back To Work
Last night was an awesome time! Lots of people, fire marshals, girls, Tommy and Pam, Courtney, loud rock music, dancers and lights that flash and shine and flicker. A killer opening to what will more than likely become my second home. That's a lot of diet cokes. Earlier in the day Carmen and I went on our dream date. It seems that the whole auction got all fucked up as kids were bidding huge numbers that they couldn't pay. I happily stepped in and took my wife out for a nice dinner at the Geisha House in Hollywood, right down the street from Rokbar. Today I am going in to put the final touches of guitar work on a couple of songs with Howard Benson. I hear that the Camp Freddy show in San Francisco went well. I missed playing with those guys. I am looking forward to the next gig, whenever that is. OK. Shower. Guitars. Later.

Dave, I have a few questions that I'm interested in your outlook for. How young do you think is TOO young to get married? And vice versa. Also, What do you think about older/younger people dating people that are younger or older than them by a degree of years? (ex.10yrs.)
Posted by: Melanie at July 1, 2005 12:12 PM
Glad it went well, Dave!
Did Steve I. make it?
Posted by: Junebug at July 1, 2005 12:23 PM
Dave!
Ever listen to a Canadian band called "The Tea Party"? I was in Winnipeg 2 weeks ago and someone turned me onto them. Some NIN, some Jim Morrison and some Physical Graffiti era Zep thrown in there. I've been listening to their album "Transmission".
Also, when are you and EVH going to jam??!!??
Peace always

So did anyone from around "here" go?? Wondering if its one of those places that us "normal" folks will be able to get in to ;)
Posted by: Abby at July 1, 2005 02:33 PM
Hey Dave. You took Carmen out? So does that mean no one won and no one that bid was able to pay? Anyways have a nice dayy!
Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at July 1, 2005 02:40 PM
I'm sure us Panic Cats can get in, provided we're all over 21.. I'm guessing it's 21 and over.
I think blonde hair might be a requirement to get in, though!
What's up with that? Is it a 'go lighter for the summer' thing or is it just not cool to be a brunette anymore?
love to all the raven haired vixens
(and the red heads and the blondes).

Hey D-dogg by the way :0)
you're such a rockstar, it's crazy
Posted by: mortisha8 at July 1, 2005 03:09 PM
Glad it was a success Dave! Happy 4th to the Family...I'm outta here for a few days.
RIP Luther Vandross....what a shame :(
Posted by: Cori at July 1, 2005 03:37 PM
Sounds like it would have been a great time. So can the average person come in - or is it invitation only? Looking at going to LA next year, and wondered if me and my blonde haired sister could get in.
Here and Now, I promise to love faithfully . . . rest, Luther rest . . .
Always,
me

Jane's is on Later right now..UK ppl!! DAVE!!!
Posted by: ylais at July 1, 2005 04:39 PM
Okay, that was a repeat, but it was still fucking awesome.
Dave, off topic, yeah, but you guys all looked like you were really enjoying performing "Been Caught Stealing" on Later with Jools. Perkins was smiling as usual, which I love. But when you went off into a little solo, Perry was genuinely smiling at you, and your playing. I swear!!! :D
On topic~ I've been learning the song coincidentally.
Thanks to my teacher's help.
Glad Rokbar was fun! Sweet you took Carmen out for the dinner. As Maria said, are raven haired women allowed in? :D I only drink coke!
Love and hugs to all

Hi all! So long a time, no see. It's been a whirlwind but I have checked in when I can; Hi jezzi!
Dave, as always you are fine and chisled and beautiful and scrumptious and do-able :) And Carmen - absolutely gorgeous too. I love the kind of sexy - little girl look she has now.
I wish I lived in LA!
Peace to all :)

Hi Dave!
Writing to you from Sweden. Ever been here? If not...it`s about time. Just wanted to let you know that I kind of "discovered" you like a month ago. I`ve seen you play with RHCP and I watched your "Until death do ....."-show on MTV, but that`s it. So....one week ago, I had a...well let`s say, slightly erotic dream...involving you. (and myself of course). And now I can`t stop thinking about you. I`ve listened to your music (trust no one) and...Mama Mia!! You sing like a God! Why haven`you gone solo before!?
Anyhow...I`ve found a new musician to worship, and sleeping has became a little more exiting! ;)
I´ve read a little about your struggle with life in general, and I understand and respect you for going through things and then coming out stronger than you were before. I`ve had my share too.
Ok...just wanted you to know how awesome you are.(like you didn`t already know)
Take care and live well
Love and respect, Emelie

Dude, just caught your very heartfelt and warming send up of benniffer/part2-on E! Funny stuff. I hope the excitment has died down a bit so you can finally get some sleep. Oh, and don't try the diet coke with the lime in it-they don't sell it everywhere, and when I can't find it, hostage taking is not such a farfetched idea. It's really good.

Dave,
About the Dream Date, how far down had they gone through the bids when you stepped in? I know they didn't reach $23,000, because I know someone who bid that much and it was never made available to him. The thing is, I can't believe that in 122 bids, not a single one of them was legitimate. I know it doesn't seem likely that a 15 or 16 year old could scrape together a few $10,000, but what about a college kid who has saved up a lot from a part time job, or an adult who wants to get it as a gift for a son or nephew?
Try and put yourself in the shoes of the highest legitimate bidder. Think about how he must feel when in the middle of going through the bids, the people running the contest suddenly stopped and gave the Dream Date to someone who had not bid higher than him, was above the upper age limit, and didn't have any use for it in the first place.

how are you celebrating live 8?
where were you originally for live aid?

what are some of your favorite Jane's/Chili peppers riffs or parts that you've written??
Posted by: Mads at July 2, 2005 09:42 AM
Since I can't edit comments, on my previous one I meant 'auction,' not 'contest'.
Posted by: Tim at July 2, 2005 09:53 AM
Re the 'Dream Date' bids, I remember posting here that the 'winner' had less than positive ebay Feedback. He hadn't honored many of his wins.
The winner was obviously a joker who did the same thing many other times.
If the people running the 'Dream Date' had checked this person as he was bidding, they could have seen he had bid on a number of other listings and never paid th Sellers. The guy was a problem non-paying bidder.
Checking the Feedback always gives you enough info about both the Sellers & the Buyers.
Unfortunately ebay doesn't nip things in the bud. If this guy had a history of doing this....he should have been banned from ebay way before he was allowed to do his latest stunt.
Glad to see Dave stepped in!
Posted by: itanja at July 2, 2005 10:01 AM
i always had this question.....what do you prefer the most.....former RHCP guitar player or former JA guitar player?....just curious, i bet by now you like TPC guitar player better, uh? :)
Posted by: salty feet at July 2, 2005 10:11 AM
Itanja, read the rules of the Dream Date. If the highest bidder doesn't pay within days, they make it available to the next highest bidder. If that person doesn't pay, they make it available to the next highest bidder, and so on until they find someone who pays.
Posted by: Tim at July 2, 2005 10:28 AM
I meant to say 'within 3 days,' sorry.
Posted by: Tim at July 2, 2005 10:30 AM
Thanks for the info Tim...but the winner WAS a regular NON PAYING bidder in the past. That was my point.
The "Dream Date" rules certainly did not apply to ALL the other listings that guy had bid on & never paid for.
ebay has to permanently ban these Non Paying Bidders, as well as the Sellers who constantly rip off Buyers.
ebay sucks in the sense that they really don't ban the people who continuously do these things. In the end, corrupt people make the whole ebay experience suck for the rest of us.
I buy a lot of items on ebay, simply because they're cheaper, it's convenient to shop from home, plus I buy a lot of vintage stuff I can only locate on ebay.
Until ebay has a better screening process of getting rid of the liars on both sides, reading the Feedback is the only way to get an idea of who you are dealing with.
