Rokbar Countdown - 2 Days

Rokbar3_21. Can you comment on the Stephen Perkins celebrity blog commentary for Rock Star: INXS?

Perk is going to be offering up his own thoughts on performances for a very unique game online. Should be fun.

2. Are you going to Camp Freddy show in SF, or staying for Rokbar opening?

I am still in the studio with Steve I working on tracks so I will not be attending. All the guys should be back in time for the Rokbar opening!

3. Which OHM era songs translated the best live and got lots of crowd reaction etc?

I'm not sure. Aeroplane, My Friends... But I loved playing One Big Mob the most.

4. What's all this controversy on these message boards?

I don't really know, but I must admit, it makes things kind of fun sometimes. At other times, I don't get it. After all, it's all about music and people and art and entertainment.

5. Dave, how do you feel about moving in with your squeeze before you get married? Do you think it damages the marriage?

It worked for us!

6. "Mary Kate's issues make her the more attractive of the two." Huh? Please explain.

I guess I just relate having gone through my own issues and demons. I can identify and in turn, find her more interesting. Not a slag on her sister, just the way I see it. Perhaps I should have said, "the more interesting of the two."

7. I have fantasies of a threesome with you and Scott Weiland, and they're all whips and chains affairs. If it was to happen, would it be as I imagine it?

"You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do!"

"You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do!"

Bloody frigging brilliant timing! Maybe Tom should utilize some of his "expertise"?

Love the Tom Cruise quote!

So, Dave, do you have your car yet?

Always,
me

Posted by: Angel at June 29, 2005 04:06 AM

"It worked for us!"

Dave, listen to you, you're glib!

Haha! Tom Cruise has seriously snapped his cap. I can't help but wonder if he was always that much of an asshole, but we are just now finding it out. Either way, it's funny as hell.

Posted by: Dana at June 29, 2005 04:52 AM

Hi all! "Time goes by so slowly..." About five more hours to go before Audioslave takes the stage. The anticipation is killing me! Haven't got much work done today, just high on coffee. Also, looking forward to "..And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead" who are supporting. Haven't really heard them much, so it'll be interesting.

Good day to all!

Speaking of Dave and Scott, my kids play the Sims and they made a rock star version, with Dave, Scott, Slash, Duff etc…Dave and Scott were in the hot tub together once. That game is WEIRD. Duff took the little girl’s bedroom. He was the baby. Scott was a complete diva.

Posted by: Sue at June 29, 2005 05:34 AM

Hey Dave:
Do you ever work with Danny Lohner? Any plans to? He's the MAN!

"You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do!"

AAAAAAAAAAAAHhahahahahhah

Posted by: Zimphire at June 29, 2005 05:49 AM

I don't know--but Tom Cruise reference was way to funny first thing in the morning- It's going to be a good day..Thanks Dave for making me smile. ;-)

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the chuckle bro!

Posted by: RecklessPrincess at June 29, 2005 07:06 AM

Great way to start the day!!!
*is having fantasies of watching that fantasy*

Posted by: Bonita at June 29, 2005 07:25 AM

that tom cruise quote is hilarious...congrats for nicole for escaping while she could. out of all of this i feel bad for christian bale...he gets his first really big movie...and it's upstaged by Tom Cruise of all people...i don't remember hearing one mention of bale at the premiere of batman begins...but i hear he's taking the whole thing really well.

tom really has flipped his lid...who is he to assume matt lauer doesn't know the history of psychiatry...if tom really did...maybe he would seek some help. get the PR you fired back!! lol

much love to everyone

I second what Jezzi said. Well today I am off to practice some STUPID parallel parking, which I see to have no reason for doing. But I have my Drivers Test tomorrow... and I have to parallel park. Whew I'm nervous, but I have a feeling I wont be coming back with a license... I dont know, maybe I'll make a mistake. Anyways... enough of that... Have a nice dayy!

Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at June 29, 2005 08:03 AM

ha ha you funny boy. i took an associative leap and now have the mental picture of you, scott, and TOM rolling around.

maybe this is the real tom we're seeing now that he's been stifling all these years. and maybe his career will tank as a result. i always thought he was a little too shiny and perfect. if it is the real tom, it's gotta be pretty liberating to finally set the more "interesting" parts free. hopefully he's socked away his millions.

Posted by: luckyspinster at June 29, 2005 08:29 AM

Good mornin' everyone...

Dave: Thanks for the reply. Congrats and best of luck on the grand opening of Rokbar. That's so cool. Wish I could be there; I'll have to have a drink in your honor. Looking forward to seeing pix.

Jess: Good luck on your road test! I hope you pass, but if not, don't fret - I think as a rule that EVERYONE fails the first time. LOL.

???
I wonder how Dave did on his first road test?
???

Cheers,

PS... The Tom comment is great. What a piece of work he is. There's a very lively Tom Cruise discussion going on at the TPC board if anyone's interested.

Posted by: Denise at June 29, 2005 08:39 AM

good evening

i'm just listening to trust no one and was wondering - are the lyrics all written by you? there are some amazing stand alone lines in there.. great lyrics.

also, is the arrangement of venus in furs all done by you?

i guess basically it breaks down to how much of trust no one is you and how much is outside input? how much input does a producer have on an album?

Posted by: ooftymcgoofty at June 29, 2005 09:37 AM

Wow! That's a good fantasy...Mind if I borrow it? hehe

Posted by: AeroGem at June 29, 2005 10:09 AM

Posted by: Brett at June 29, 2005 10:31 AM

Saw a commercial for the new show and it didn't even mention you or Brook! Poop!
I can't wait to see it!
Can someone update me...I've been out of the loop for what feels like ages.....Is Rokbar a club Dave has something to do with?

Posted by: sweetmelis at June 29, 2005 10:42 AM

Hi Sweetmelis!!! Here is the scoop Dave posted a couple weeks ago about Rokbar:

"3. Hey, can you talk a little bit about Rokbar?

Tommy is a partner is Rokbar Miami and it is a killer spot. We just decided to open one out here on the West Coast. A home away from home "where the freaks feel like stars, and the stars feel like freaks", to quote Neil Strauss."

Dave-Great Tom comment. I was crackin' up this morning when I read it. Thanks.

I have to agree, a session with Dave and Scott would be lovely. (Sex, yes please.)

Cori-I got my picture yesterday from Until there's a cure. They are beautiful.
Hello to you to crazy girl, jezzi.

Love and kisses to all, CC

What's all this about, then? Linking to the new INXS show? Isn't that like linking to that new dance show on Fox?

Posted by: Mack at June 29, 2005 05:25 PM

Mack, Dave isn't in the dance show on Fox, YET!!!

Dave, how about a link to Rock Star go Home, or does Perk have it linked on his site?

jezzi(that Adam fella is tooooo cute)

Posted by: jezebel at June 29, 2005 05:49 PM

Emily, don't worry about Christian Bale being upstaged by Miss Tom Cruise's public meltdown...

Christian will be around long after people have forgotten about Cruise, his phony toothy grin, his vague answers to important questions, his crazy cult 'religion' and his fake marriages.

Bale's a damn good actor, I even remember seeing him as a child in "Empire of the Sun", so he's already been in the business for quite awhile. I'm sure we'll be seeing him acting for a long time.

Posted by: itanja at June 29, 2005 06:45 PM

dave. i personally know marty from INXS through friends, and im in love with him. his musical talent is what i think will win him the show. i can be on it. so keep a close eye on him everyone. im so jealous that he gets to meet you. haha. xoxox

thanx

Posted by: GoNe at June 29, 2005 09:54 PM

im sure im the only one that finds this humorous........but i was chek'n DOHENY'S band profile on their myspace account......and noticed that they have exactly 666 members on their friends list.....and guess who wuz lucky number 666........yours truely.......they added me this afternoon.......and this amuses me to no end......so i thought i'd share

Posted by: UncleCreepy42069 at June 29, 2005 10:05 PM

itanja you're right...bale is a phenominal actor...i love how his roles have been varied from the journalist in "Velvet Goldmine" to his role in "Little Women" to the psycho killer in "American Psycho" (my personal favorite)...he's also so good with accents i had no clue he was british until i saw him interviewed. great great actor....you're right...he will get his recognition...and tom will get his...for being a fake, controlling, hard-nosed actor.

thanks!

hey dave!
i live in indiana (but from nyc...sacrifice for school) and always listen to CFR radio when you upload it. you guys make me laugh, and i love the music selection. i was in LA a couple of weeks ago, and was actually able to catch it live on-air. i was so excited that while i picked up my man from the studio i rocked out to some iron maiden that you guys played while in my rental 4-door chrysler sebring. it was a pretty funny sight. i'll be in LA mid-july, and this time will be listening to your show in a BMW. i'm upgrading ;)

anyway, itunes just added a new feature....podcasts. any chance that CFR radio might be added? they have a section concerning publishing podcasts that you might want to check out if you haven't already.
best,
yasmin

hi dave,

just wanted to say how great it is that you answer fans questions so consistantly no matter how repetitive they must get sometimes!

Good luck in all your future projects, i know i'll love em

Posted by: wade at June 30, 2005 04:32 AM

Hi all!

Lots of talk about Tom Cruise. The word of his peculiar behavior lately has even reached this side of the globe. I guess he's totally lost it then... Well, it's all the same to me. I think he has always been overrated and I've never liked his work too much, except for his role of Frank T. J. Mackey in Magnolia which is brilliant!

Oh yeah, and gotta mention that Audioslave totally rocked last night! Long live Morello!

Peace out!

Any chance we will ever see a second Deconstruction album?

Posted by: SNM at June 30, 2005 06:46 AM

You visit so many countries touring with JA and RHCP, which one do you like most, excluding US, and why?

Posted by: pluma69 at June 30, 2005 07:35 AM

Pekka, I think you spelled Cornell wrong. :)

Posted by: Dana at June 30, 2005 07:43 AM

Its good to come back n see a Trey Anastasio related TPC comment by Mike B. Please expand/expound on the comment more or anyone else that can fill me in. Thats a big honor to be wanted by Trey and some big shoes to fill. John Fishman(Phishs drummer) and Stuart Copeland (Oysterhead and the Police) have hit the skins for Trey in the past. Thats something to be proud of! Please fill me in on where ya got that tidbit..Mike B...or a web address. Gotta get my Trey tour tickets again, seeing that the first tour was cancelled and my stubs are no longer good!

Many blessing on your opening tonight, Dave!

Oh if I could be a fly on the wall...... sigh...

Posted by: Junebug at June 30, 2005 09:59 AM

Thanks Jezzi and Denise. But I did fail. My parallel parking and everything were fine. But he said I was going to slow (( I was looking for a sign but didnt see one so I didnt know how fast I was suppose to go )), and I didnt completely stop at a stop sign (( I think I was so nervous that I wasnt really thinking )). I'm suppose to go back July 21, but I'm going to see if they are closer days and times. Have a nice dayy!

Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at June 30, 2005 10:02 AM

Not to worry Jess...I did not completely stop at a stop-sign too (and hit the curb on a turn-about) and failed my first time...you will feel much more confident the next time...welcome to the "I flunked the first time" club!!! :D

Posted by: Cori at June 30, 2005 10:20 AM

Hey Dave,

1)How is your relationship with Perry Farrell now and how was it back then in the days?

2)Your wife signed my blonde Fender Strat a few months ago. Should I be proud of it or totally embarrassed?

Posted by: Wolfgang at June 30, 2005 11:25 AM

^^^ What Cori said, Jess. ^^^

That's great that your next test is coming up so soon! You have a few weeks to practice, practice, practice and get really comfy behind the wheel. Now that the worst is over and done with, you can only go up from here! :)

Have a great day, everyone. If you make it to the Rokbar grand opening (I don't know how those things work in terms of public admission), have an awesome time. And if you're Dave, may it be a smash success. I'm sure it will be. :)

As we say, "Salute"!

Hey Dave, its been a while. Hope that you're well. As a major influence on the up-bringing of my personal & musical inner child, I have always wanted you to hear my music. And as my band broke up in January, after 4 years of yearning, it is getting more unlikely that this will happen. The best that we managed to record was a 3 track cheapo demo. But I would love you to hear it. We are not your average band. If we were shit, I would never waste your time. Dave, I know that you will love it. You can check out the tracks at (I recommend "Xzannex Sleep" for a quick viewing): scientadystene.com We were something really special. I know that you will appreciate. Cheers Dave. Take care brother. Glynne x

Posted by: Glynne at June 30, 2005 11:30 AM

Cori- Yeah, that stinks. I mean when I thought about it I saw it to be the hardest and worst thing in the world, but I mean most of my friends have their license and failed the first time.. so I thought maybe I'm stressing over it, which I was. I took it, and was nervous and I failed. But atleast I know what I have to do next time. Lets just hope I can Parallel Park as well as I did today. That was my main fear.
