Mixing Teahouse
Tomorrow night's CFR is a rebroadcast as Billy in is Hawaii, Dono is in Woodstock and I will be celebrating my birthday with my family. The studio has been going really well. We rearranged Teahouse a little bit and the new version is sounding really strong. Just like Greg Focker's stock portfolio. "I would say strong to very strong." We gotta strike while the iron is hot.
1. Dave, who's your favorite Law and Order character?
Now that Jerry is gone, I would have to say I'm feeling the new Assistant District Attorney played by Annie Parisse. I still miss Stephanie March. You know, they have L&O, SVU and CI, and it still feels like they can't crank out enough of those things. I gotta start sending a percentage of my income directly into Dick Wolf's account.
2. Dave, what's the difference between a manager and an agent and a personal assistant, do you have all three, or one that multitasks?
A manager handles the business affairs, the agent books the shows and the assistant does the day to day life stuff like feeding you or running errands. If your manager and agent suck, you don't need the assistant.
3. Showing up on the red carpet with Brooke, do you expect any sort of tabloid stories about your marriage being "on the rocks"?
Not at all. Brooke is happily married as am I. We just work together. After the show we are signed to do an exclusive feature for Vivid Video, but it's just more "work stuff". (J/K)
4. So Dave, what did you get for your birthday?
See the above image for a close up of Carmen's gift to me.

Hello, Awesome gift from Carmen!
Got a question:
Was at your book signing in Jersey, and remember thinking how it must feel for you to have all these people come to see you, and of course purchase the book, but was curious in how does it feel to be noticed everywhere you go? And is it kinda eerie for people to just gawk at you as if you were an animal in the zoo?
Also my b-day is 7/7/77, cooler than yours! Ha ha!
(I keep posting this question every once in awhile in hopes that it gets answered!)
Thanx

Dave,
Nice gift.
¿What charities do you donate the most time & money towards during the year? I ask that because my company is participating in Bag Hunger right now.
¿What type of cake are you having tomorrow? ¿Ice cream? ¿Chocolate? My money is on chocolate.
Later,
Mike from NYC
PS - My upset pick for the Belmont tomorrow is CHEKHOV.

Oooaaaawwww shit! Dave got the Panic Channel ICED! Yeah kid! :)
QUESTION FOR DAVE: After watching all the TDDUP episodes/outtakes, it clearly comes across that you and Carmen have a very deep understanding, love and respect between the two of you. How hard was it to overcome the insecurities, paranoia, fears, misunderstandings, and things you can't stand about eachother? Would it have been possible had you met her years earlier, or did your headspace/perspective at the time you two started dating really help?
I guess a follow up question to that would be, how sick are you of people asking about relationship advice? Lol, sorry, but I feel you've got a good perspective on these things and are cool about helping other people through your life/art/words/experiences.
Not sure if the rest of you people have disgustingly hot and humid weather like NYC has been in the past few days, but I hope you're all keeping cool out there. Have a great weekend everyone!
Peace!

you must really dig going to the dentist huh, dave?
the excuse for your new celebrity venture truely sucks, youll be helping out singers, because your such agreat artist you wanna share your wiseness, very charitable, but since when were you a singer?See after i heard some of the panic stuff, and of course seein all the shit that you do to go along with it, i figured youd given up on progress and beeing forward thinking like all good art is, no matter if its good or bad. But its nice to know that at least when you look back you see how things maybe could have been better and you know that was neat, but then i was thinkin whether your previous work was so great because of drugs. that would suck, it would make tthe music sound bad to me, so im gonna choose too believe theres some tallent there somewhere.
One of these days im hopin that your gonna post about having perry over for one of your friendly high stakes snap tournaments and that etty and carman exchanged dance routine tips while you and perry talked tight ass knook an craney trousers. And perkins woke up from his self imposed amnesia coma and remembered who perry was and maybe eric happened to stop by to borrow some milk. Im not talkin reunion, that would just be silly, but you know just a friendly acknowledgment, a wave or even a wink, i think it would make the music sound better, maybe not, but it wouldnt hurt to find out

Hi Dave & co.
Nice gift from Carmen. Girlfriend's got some good taste! But we knew that, didn't we? :)
Have a great time with the family.
Boots/Joseph - Congratulations on your year of sobriety. Kudos to all of you who have overcome the challenge of addiction.
Speaking of addiction, I've had a question for Dave and anyone else who struggles with drug addiction, particularly the hard stuff. I might as well throw it out there:
??QUESTION:??
5)? Other than the obvious rush/pleasure that comes from drugs, what is the allure of continuing to do something even after it starts to affect your life? Is it merely a physical addiction, or is there something else that you get out of drugs that you don't or can't get out of 'normal' life?
Curious to hear about your experiences. Thanks.
Love,
-Denise

Dave
just got your book(had to import from the states) on page 37 you mention that to go home with a chick the most horriffic thing happen would be seeing a picture of Anthony Keddis on her dresser. Why is this???????
Posted by: junkie inc at June 10, 2005 10:40 AM
americanzer0- He answered that awhile back by saying something like hes more of a face(?) man. But Carmen has the ass, face, and tits. So she's a triple threat. I'm trying to find his exact words but this is kinda hard.

Dave,
what do you make of the fact that most people who post here say moronic things like "Oh my god you're so down to earth" and "Wow! Carmen is so hot!!!", when in the past people wanted to talk about your artistry?
Do you accept that this is a reflection of the fact that you've increased your media exposure, and that you have failed to push your artistic talent to the fore in recent years? I mean, Panic Channel might be fun and good luck to you, but the band's sound is as formulaic as you can get, especially when you consider both yours and Perk's once fresh and distinctive styles. Now he just sounds like any old drummer and your riffs/solos sound lazy and indulgent. I'm sure Steve Isaacs is a good guy, but his "I'm in an alternative rock band, man" vocal style is cringeworthy.
I'm not a Dave Navarro-hater like some, but I think your insistence on doing TV shows instead of making astounding music does you no favours. Do media stuff, sure, but at least back it up with music that's challenging and artistic.

TOMMY LEE, DAVE NAVARRO To Help Launch ROKBAR In Hollywood - June 11, 2005
RollingStone.com is reporting that Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE), Dave Navarro (JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) and international spinning sensation DJ Paul Oakenfold will have the grand opening for their Los Angeles bar/dining lounge, Rokbar Hollywood, on June 30.
According to Citysearch, the formerly gritty Bar Deluxe space (1710 Las Palmas Blvd.) has gotten a renovation in hopes of becoming the latest hot nightclub destination in a neighborhood packed with trendy bars. A multileveled spot with a Meridian Group pedigree, clientele will include many of the same A-listers who made appearances on Tuesdays here at the short-lived Deluxe, aspiring starlets and — of course — paparazzi galore.
Lee is part owner of the Rokbar in Miami Beach, Florida, which had its grand opening party (photos) in May 2004.

Hi Dave,
Groovy necklace!
Finally got to see you in "Uptown Girls", cute movie. Brittany's a doll. Too bad your role wasn't bigger. I barely saw Carmen.....just her back & a side view??!!!
How much filming did you guys have to do? Then to end up being in the movie less than 5 minutes, I'd be pretty pissed off.
Would you ever consider acting in a movie, in a non musician role? If so, what type of role would you enjoy playing.
It's humid, hot & pretty disgusting here in NYC...enjoy California! Have a great weekend!
take care,
itanja

Hi All,
Thanks, Wendybird, for the link. I had no idea that Dave had a nightclub/business venture up his sleeve... with Paul Oakenfold no less... I never would've imagined that. Sounds pretty cool, though. Now I know where to go if I'm ever in LA again. :)
Back to yardwork... Good times!
