Rokbar Opening Night
Tonight is the big opening of Rokbar in Hollywood. My lovely wife has flown in from shooting her movie in Toronto to join me on this fine evening. The band is kind of multitasking right now. Perk and Chaney are in San Francisco with Camp Freddy, Isaacs is in with Howard Benson doing vocals on some tracks... and me? I'm making some beautiful music of my own with Carmen Electra.

Rokbar Countdown - 2 Days
1. Can you comment on the Stephen Perkins celebrity blog commentary for Rock Star: INXS?
Perk is going to be offering up his own thoughts on performances for a very unique game online. Should be fun.
2. Are you going to Camp Freddy show in SF, or staying for Rokbar opening?
I am still in the studio with Steve I working on tracks so I will not be attending. All the guys should be back in time for the Rokbar opening!
3. Which OHM era songs translated the best live and got lots of crowd reaction etc?
I'm not sure. Aeroplane, My Friends... But I loved playing One Big Mob the most.
4. What's all this controversy on these message boards?
I don't really know, but I must admit, it makes things kind of fun sometimes. At other times, I don't get it. After all, it's all about music and people and art and entertainment.
5. Dave, how do you feel about moving in with your squeeze before you get married? Do you think it damages the marriage?
It worked for us!
6. "Mary Kate's issues make her the more attractive of the two." Huh? Please explain.
I guess I just relate having gone through my own issues and demons. I can identify and in turn, find her more interesting. Not a slag on her sister, just the way I see it. Perhaps I should have said, "the more interesting of the two."
7. I have fantasies of a threesome with you and Scott Weiland, and they're all whips and chains affairs. If it was to happen, would it be as I imagine it?
"You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do!"

CFR Uploaded
Last Saturday's CFR loaded now!
1. Dave did I read correctly the other day when you said you LIKED The Phantom of the Opera movie?
Yes, I saw the stage production twice when I was young. I loved it. The movie was recently added to the Direct TV Pay Per View thing and I watched it. I gotta say, I really enjoyed it. I don't really know why. It brought back a lot of memories and the lead actress was amazingly beautiful. That's kind of all I needed.
2. Paris or Nicky?
Paris. Paris is like Hawaii and Nicky is like the Bahamas. I prefer Hawaii.
Mary Kate or Ashley?
Mary Kate's issues make her the more attractive of the two.
3. What about the Satellite Party stuff, Dave? Any thoughts?
I just checked it out. I think it sounds very cool. To be honest, it sounds a lot more like what Perry wanted to do to begin with. With a voice like his, it's hard for it to not be great.

CFR
Thanx to Rick, who posted the location of the Beetlejuice song. You can get to it from here, but it I am free from prosecution. Nice going, man. Tonight is an 'All New CFR: LA'. Our in studio guest is Bow Wow Wow. They will be stopping by for a quick interview and an acoustic song or two. TPC just did a couple of days with producer Howard Benson. We rearranged a few songs and they are sounding very good. We wrap up the session next week.

Denied!
I asked one of the Stern segment producers if I could post the Beetlejuice song.
"Hey Dave -
Unfortunately CBS won't release the song for use on websites. They own the tape (and all tapes of the show) and usually never release them. So sorry about that."
I'm glad I asked, I had it up for about 5 minutes last night. Looks like you are gonna have to tune in to the Stern show to check it out... I'm telling you, it'll be worth it.
I'm kind of feeling the new Billy Corgan record. It's kind of like an electronic My Bloody Valentine. I just started listening to it. It's definitely a "mood" record. Those always end up being my favorite.

Episode 1
Well, I just saw the first episode of Rockstar: INXS, and I must say, this is gonna be a really great show! It certainly isn't an American "Rock" Idol type of thing. You will fall in love with all of these kids, at least, I have. The first episode is kind of an introduction to all of the players, as well as a performance from each of them and a single elimination. What I like about this show so much is not only the fact that there are great rock songs, such as songs from The Who, Nirvana, Courtney Love and The Rolling Stones, but the fact that it focuses on the people behind the performers. We get a chance to see a very intimate side of the contestants in a way I have never seen on any other "talent" show. That's all I can really say about it now without getting sued! Check it out on July 11 on CBS.
BTW, has anyone here heard the Beetlejuice song on Howard Stern lately? It is legitimately the most incredible thing I have ever heard in my entire life! I'll try to get permission to post it here.

Changing Lanes
Let's shift gears. Anyone see I Want To Be A Hilton? I was so ready to hate it and go off about how the premise was a lot like Silver Back Gorillas teaching figure skating. You know, a Hilton with an etiquette show? I mean, was this real? Unfortunately, ten minutes into it I couldn't believe what was happening. I was enjoying the program. In addition, I can now add Kathy Hilton to my extensive list of older women that I might consider being a sexual slave for. The show was kind of hard to turn away from and I have now added it to the official TiVo season pass schedule. I guess a different title would have been less of an initial turn off. They should have called it, I Want To Be In A Hilton. That would have been a better show for sure.
Tomorrow is our day in court with producer Howard Benson.

Response and Reply
"It says a lot about you that you would write this emotionally- evolved note - both appreciative and remonstrating...I think that you are ready to be a Dad, right?
It's interesting that you picked up that line, though. I had to think about it. It reflects some cynicism about the entertainment industry (mein got!) of "reality" tv and in your case, the use of marriage as theater. Also, its part of a meditation about other things that I've yet to write about, such as: Who are the producers of the Brigitte Nielson fiasco? Is it allright to film anyone, even a woman killing herself with alcohol in front of her three young sons? I will aim to be clearer about this in the future.
You've got a healthy sense of humor about yourself and might need a thicker skin about comments such as these. Not that I have one, btw. You and I both know that the only two people that can make a marriage work are the two people. And I'm not one of them. You guys appear to be doing fine, and yes, I do mean this. I'm not bitter about my marriage failing, I'm not cynical about marriages working. I believe in the institution.
I've been asked to try it again, btw, by Mr. Wonderful who I've been dating for 2 years.
Wishing you the best,
xxxx xxxxx"
-------
"Thanx for the reply. Good luck with your new husband. As for marriage as theater? I guess we just felt that the story of two people in love, is a far better message to put out there than one of a woman killing herself with alcohol in front of her three young sons. In fact, it's just a great message on it's own. I am always amazed that with all the garbage on TV these days, we would receive so much slack for trying to show kids that love is good and that it can work. Even if a marriage ends, wasn't it worth the experience? Who says it has to last forever in order to be a success? Aren't your children a beautiful product of your experiences? Haven't you grown in ways that make you a better partner for Mr. Wonderful today?
Oh, and P.S. I was getting a colonic, not a waxing. Hahaha. I can't imagine that this information changes your perspective much, but it's the truth all the same. Funny stuff. Also, my skin is plenty thick, I just love my wife so much.
Have a beautiful day and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Sincerely,
Dave Navarro"
I love this stuff. Thank you xxxx, for a fun morning...

Bonjour
Not much going on today. Going to the gym, chillin... Nothing special. Tomorrow we start preproduction on Half Hearted as we are going to re-track it with Howard Benson on Thursday. I guess we just kind of feel that we could add to it a bit. That's kind of the blessing of living with your material for a while, you gain perspective. We love the version we have done now, but it never hurts to see if one can better himself. It's not like the old one is going anywhere. I read a cute little story about me on a website this morning. It was all good till the divorcee writer chose to attack my marriage. I was compelled to send her the following letter:
"I read your little story on me. Good stuff. I am thrilled to know that
I have been a part of making (xxxxxxxx.xxx) work. Congratulations on the
launch of your new site. All those years at Columbia are really
starting to pay off. Your daughters must be so proud.
Listen, feel free to have fun at my expense, but be careful about what
you write regarding my marriage. As in:
"We could envision Carmen, deep into month five of their six month marriage."
After all, we aren't the ones who are divorced. As I said, I am fair
game but my wife is another story. I am very protective when it comes
to my marriage. I guess that's just the kind of husband I am.
Dave Navarro
P.S. Cute picture!"
"Senator, we're both part of the same hypocrisy... but never think it applies to my family."
I have chosen to omit her name and address... that's how I roll. I must say, however, that I have yet to hear back from her. I love this Internet shit! More to come.

Sunday
1. What did you do for father's day?
I spent the afternoon with my father and the rest of my family. We had brunch, talked and had a great time.
2. I am still wondering if you have a public membership on SuicideGirls.
"Did you order the Code Red?"
"You're Goddamn right, I did!"
3. Dave, how often do you think about sex?
>>Electra, 33, explains, "This writer said to me, 'It's been reported that men think about sex every 20 seconds, how often do you think about sex?' "And I said, 'Every 20 seconds'. People think that I actually think about sex every 20 seconds.<<
I think about something else, every twenty minutes.
4. Just wondering what your favorite Siouxsie and the Banshees album is?
Nocturne.
5. Dave, how do you keep your home so clutter free? Are you a neat freak?
I just like to live stream lined. I try to not acquire too much stuff. I like the idea of just being able to up and move without too much hassle. I think I got this way from so much touring. That is why our house is designed kind of like a hotel. We love the hotel vibe. I just figured, if it is so exciting to stay in a killer hotel, why not make it feel that way when we are home? To answer Deena13's question, Carmen gave me the reigns to do the interior of the house myself.

One Year Anniversary 6767
Happy Birthday to everyone. Today marks the one year anniversary of 6767. Another Gemini. Damn! In fact, after I write this I am headed over to Chris Chaney's birthday party. Steve Isaacs has a birthday coming up as well. Anyway, thank you to all who have supported this place over the year, it has been a great experience getting to know you and interacting with you. As you can see, the car is nearly done. I had them lower it to make it a little tougher looking, but it was ultimately too low, so now I have to raise it up a bit. Shouldn't be all that much longer. It was rad just going down to see it. Last night's weekly poker game was a lot of fun. Cantrell and I got knocked out very early on. We each had an endless string of deuce/seven off suits. I think I saw only one face card the entire evening, with the exception of the pocket kings I was dealt on a misdeal, and had to muck! That shit was cold. The big winner was Russell, aka, Johnny Fava, with Steve Isaacs in second and a surprising third place going to Gina Gershon. She played very, very well. Tonight is an all new CFR so tune in on Indie 103.1. Rachel Hunter will be joining Billy and I for a while to discuss... well, whatever she feels like I guess.

Good Morning
Good morning. Just waking up, coffee, Internet and an empty day. About to hit the gym, nap, Court TV and a little get together at my house tonight. Kind of a beautiful thing. I know that many are mixed about the verdict, but the drama of watching it come down was really exciting. We haven't had a news drama of this nature in a while. Personally, I don't really have an opinion as I wasn't in the courtroom and didn't really keep up on the evidence that was presented to the public. I'm not trying to open up a debate, I'm just saying it was a trip to watch. Once the verdict came in, I was kind of hoping he would moon walk out of the court house. That would have been rad. TPC has had the week off so I have been just kicking around, hitting some business meetings and playing a lot of poker. Nothing too creative. I found out that finally from West Coast Customs, almost 6 months later, my Grand National will be done on Monday. I'm pretty psyched about that. I will post a picture or two for sure. What else? Oh yeah. The dunk tank at the Pediatric Aids event. You know, I thought I was just like handing out tickets and prizes and all. When I arrived, they asked me where I'd like to change. What? You mean you want me to go in there? Damn! How can you say no, right? So, I talked my friend Melissa Rivers into joining me. We actually had a lot of fun. Plus, it was for a great cause. Helping kids with a deadly disease is way worth it. I will say, that if the "Implants For Strippers Who Can't Afford Them" charity asked me to do the same, I would have been way less accommodating.

A Time For Heroes
Today I am going to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Family Carnival and Picnic. I am to be running the dunk booth for a while. It's kind of overcast here in LA so I don't know how much action I'll get at the booth. 100% of proceeds from the event benefit the Foundation's lifesaving pediatric programs. Carmen and I have been going to this event for years and we are now on the honorary committee. I know she is bummed that she can't go as she is off in Toronto shooting a film. I'll be flying with Riss as my wing woman.
1. What charities do you donate the most time & money towards during the year?
I work with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation most often, but I also work with MAP, Step Up Women's Network and Cure Autism Now.
2. I think your insistence on doing TV shows instead of making astounding music does you no favors Do media stuff, sure, but at least back it up with music that's challenging and artistic.
Well, put it this way. I just enjoy doing different things. I have been in bands for over 20 years. I'm still in a band. A brand new one that takes a lot of time and dedication. To me, the music we are making IS astounding. I guess I'm not looking for favors, I'm just enjoying life and all it's opportunities. I never want to wake up at 60 and think, "God, I wish I had at least tried that thing I passed on, years ago."
3. Hey, can you talk a little bit about Rokbar?
Tommy is a partner is Rokbar Miami and it is a killer spot. We just decided to open one out here on the West Coast. A home away from home "where the freaks feel like stars, and the stars feel like freaks", to quote Neil Strauss.

Mixing Teahouse
Tomorrow night's CFR is a rebroadcast as Billy in is Hawaii, Dono is in Woodstock and I will be celebrating my birthday with my family. The studio has been going really well. We rearranged Teahouse a little bit and the new version is sounding really strong. Just like Greg Focker's stock portfolio. "I would say strong to very strong." We gotta strike while the iron is hot.
1. Dave, who's your favorite Law and Order character?
Now that Jerry is gone, I would have to say I'm feeling the new Assistant District Attorney played by Annie Parisse. I still miss Stephanie March. You know, they have L&O, SVU and CI, and it still feels like they can't crank out enough of those things. I gotta start sending a percentage of my income directly into Dick Wolf's account.
2. Dave, what's the difference between a manager and an agent and a personal assistant, do you have all three, or one that multitasks?
A manager handles the business affairs, the agent books the shows and the assistant does the day to day life stuff like feeding you or running errands. If your manager and agent suck, you don't need the assistant.
3. Showing up on the red carpet with Brooke, do you expect any sort of tabloid stories about your marriage being "on the rocks"?
Not at all. Brooke is happily married as am I. We just work together. After the show we are signed to do an exclusive feature for Vivid Video, but it's just more "work stuff". (J/K)
4. So Dave, what did you get for your birthday?
See the above image for a close up of Carmen's gift to me.

Batman Began
As much as I would love to give you all a thorough review of Batman Begins, the truth is I can't. Our assistant, Richard, and I got there and met Brooke. She and I did our thing and hung for a while, but Richard fell crazy sick. He got all clammy and dizzy and sweaty and nauseous. I had to take him home and missed the movie. Oh well, it's not like I won't be able to ever see it again. I still haven't seen Sith yet. I just chalk it up to a possible great evening or two in a hotel room sometime in the future. Anyway, I came home and fired up my season one box set of Arrested Development and watched like 12 episodes. Really funny and well done show. Later I fired up an online tournament and won it. In light of missing the movie, I have to say it was a lot of fun to have the house to myself, play online poker and watch like 6 hours of a great show I had never seen. I never really watch episodic television, I always wait for the DVD. I like to become immersed in the televised world and establish relationships with the characters. OK. That sounds crazy. But I do. Of course, reality shows and any Law and Order MUST be seen on the air date. Apart from those... DVD! And those are my personal viewing rules. Riveting to read about, I'm sure.
Today we start up with Josh Abraham in the studio to do some tracks. We are in all of this week. Thank you all for the sweet birthday wishes. Our little site here, 6767, turns one on the 18th. Thank you for all your love and support! Have a beautiful day.

Batman Begins
Good morning. Tonight, I am going to the Batman Begins premiere. This is a film I have been looking forward to for quite a while. It is supposed to be a darker and more accurate account of the Dark Night than the earlier versions of the Batman films. My wife is out of town working on a movie, so I am going with Brooke. They usually throw big after parties at premieres like this but since TPC is going into the studio tomorrow, I am probably going to skip out and get some rest. I kind of just want to see the movie. I'll have a review tomorrow. Apart from that, nothing really special going on.

Sunday 10
1. Do you plan on contributing anything to Perry's new project, The Satellite Party, or maybe the next Porno For Pyros record?
Let me consult the Magic 8 Ball... It says, "Outlook Not So Good"
2. How did you come up with playing your guitar with a vibrator? Did you see someone else do it first or was it just a spur of the moment type of thing?
We were in New Orleans in the 80's touring with Love and Rockets. Daniel Ash was using an Ebow at sound check and I just thought it would be funny to see how a vibrator would sound. I ran over to a sex shop, bought one and the rest is history.
3. I've seen pictures of you in Martial Law? If you were in an episode how about putting it up on 6767 TV so we can admire your acting?
Hmmm, let me thing about this for a second. Not a chance in hell!
4. Are there any other Indie 103.1 shows that you listen to on a regular basis? Congrats on the nomination!
Steve Jones has a great show 5 days a week in the afternoon.
5a. Dave did you ever get the Olsen Twin dolls?
No, and I am more than a little broken up about it.
5b. Hi Dave If you could have one gift for your birthday what would it be?
Olsen Twin dolls!
6. What are your thoughts of your experience as an Executive Producer?
Well, I cared a lot about that film but trying to get a great rate on an edit bay or a break in price on tape and transfers isn't really something I am suited for. Perhaps if there is ever something I care about that much, I'd think about it but for now, no thank you.
7. Threesomes. How do you feel about the gender split? Do you prefer the two girls and a guy, or the two guys and a girl?
That's like asking if I'd rather to go to Disneyland or to the dentist.
8. Do you workout when you're on the road traveling and look for hotels w/ gyms or do you just take a break?
Hotels with gyms. A must.
9. Dave what's your take on scientology?
I'm all for anything that provides some happiness and direction for people if they are into it. I don't really know much about Scientology, but the people I know who are into it seem to be happy. Check out The Fable. Interesting, to say the least, but it's really just something floating around the Internet. I'm not well versed in The Fable or in Scientology. I would like to know if there are aliens. Or should I say, I'd like confirmation of what I already believe.
10. How's the TPC record deal progressing?
Good. We start up on Tuesday to do some work with Josh Abraham who did the Velvet Revolver record.
Last Saturday's CFR loaded now!

Tonight On An All New CFR: L.A.
The big winner of our weekly poker game last night was Jerry Cantrell taking first spot followed by Greg Simon in second. They both walked away with cash winnings. I was poised to have a great shot at the money but I sometimes get impatient and "bully" the table a little more often than I should. (I like to get my heart racing... Call me an addict.) Jerry said those words that all some-time bluffers hate to hear. After what seemed to be a half an hour of decision time, he says, "What the hell, I'll call." He called my $1,800.00 raise and I had shit. Done. It was a great evening though, we were kind of celebrating my birthday early as my wife will be off shooting a movie on the 7th. Greg Simon is kind of a newbie to the game, but he has two major qualities that puts him in the final hands every week. He is really smart and really patient. Nice going guys! Good job! Whatever!
Tonight is an all new CFR so tune in as we debut a track from the Camp Freddy album. Billy and Mike Clink mixed a couple of tracks this week.
5. Are you responsible for that rockin' intro to TDDUP?
No, that is the fine work of Jay Gordon from the band Orgy.

A Quick 5 - L.E. Update
Three new tracks now loaded on the Loop Experiment page!
Also, CFR has been nominated for Best Radio Show!!!
1. Dave, what's your favorite movie about aliens?
There has never been anything, in my opinion, that has even come close to Close Encounters.
2. Over on the Foos' board, some people have been critical of them playing the show (MTV Movie Awards), saying they should have Trent's back (especially since Dave played drums on most of their new record) and not play for MTV since they wouldn't allow Trent to express himself the way he wanted.
Look. You know I love NIN and Trent, but I really think he is a big boy and can fight his own battles. I totally support his right to do what he wants and express himself in any way he wants. (Thank God he does, his means of expression have certainly brought a lot into my life as a fan and listener.) For me, if the Foos want to play the show, it's all good. I'd like to see them. Frankly, I would have rather seen NIN, but since that is out of the question, Dave and the boys will be just fine. I love them both. Just my opinion, I doubt I'll even be able to catch the show at all.
3. What are your thoughts on gay marriage?
People in love should be able to marry. That simple. I really believe that part of the problem is that married couples get tax breaks and the government is more concerned with losing some extra tax money, over this only being a morality issue. The problem seems much more multifaceted. At the end of the day, who cares what people do in their own lives, provided they aren't hurting anyone?
4. Now that Trent is a body builder with impressive neck girth, who would win between you and he in an arm wrestling match?
Hands down, Reznor!
5.
