Denied!

PlayerI asked one of the Stern segment producers if I could post the Beetlejuice song.

"Hey Dave -

Unfortunately CBS won't release the song for use on websites. They own the tape (and all tapes of the show) and usually never release them. So sorry about that."

I'm glad I asked, I had it up for about 5 minutes last night. Looks like you are gonna have to tune in to the Stern show to check it out... I'm telling you, it'll be worth it.

I'm kind of feeling the new Billy Corgan record. It's kind of like an electronic My Bloody Valentine. I just started listening to it. It's definitely a "mood" record. Those always end up being my favorite.

Hi Dave,

hey all

well at least you asked - like they say you never get something if you never ask!

Been doing a bit of reading lately, is that 12% thing with Perry true? The more i read of whores the more i understand the break up.

Thanks for Strays though, the whole thing kicks ass!

It looks like on one of Sterns fan sites, it's up but I can't download it because I don't fit the requirements of said site. The Stern fans are like the man, keepin' a brutha down!

Hey all,

Thanks, Dave, for trying. I'm sure we'll hear it somehow.

Maybe some of you will catch him singing it live somewhere. BJ makes a lot of guest appearances in bars and clubs around the tri-state area. (That is, if he IS singing it... it may just be a song ABOUT him, right? Kinda like the hilarious Bababooey songs?)

Anyhow, have a good one. It's fun shooting the breeze with you guys!

I like Now(and Then), All Things Change, Camera Eye. Even though he was beseiged with mix issues the other night, gdamn, it was good to see him again in an intimate setting. Someone asked him after the show where was he going? Billy-"I'm going back to the hotel, to watch CNN, by myself, alone". Me-"umm, Billy? I'll come watch Wolf with you", lol.

Dave, im thinking about getting a tattoo and i have a question or 2 for you...

what were your reasons for getting your very first tattoo?
and, does every tattoo you have tell a personal story or do you have any tattoos that were for purely decorative reasons?

Tonto--

That "12% thing with Perry" isn't true. It was 12.5% :-)

Sorry Dave, cheap shot. I know.

jane's addiction sounded so great because of the 4 parts that made it up, each w/a sound that was totally unique but when merged created such beautiful music.

Posted by: sonicdeath at June 24, 2005 01:11 PM

Dave,

Too bad you cannot post the song. Now I am going to be forced to watch the E! channel.

¿Have you ever been to South America during Carnival?
I wonder how much fun one person could possible have during that time. Imagine the possibilities. I know that I can't go during that time because I would be coming home in a bodybag.

LET'S GO METS!!!!!

Later,
Mike from NYC

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Posted by: Mike from NYC at June 24, 2005 01:14 PM

I'm a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan and Billy Corgan was a big part of that reason... He's playing NYC 6/27 and 28 and most likely going (if I don't have other work commitments)... Cool that you mentioned it...

Dave, just for once sign off the old DN then put "first" after it. just curious sto see the outcome howevere obvious it may be....

Posted by: justanotherstu at June 24, 2005 01:15 PM

Actually...I think he did do that once and it was very funny...should be in the archives, if you feel like digging. :0)

Posted by: Cori at June 24, 2005 01:39 PM

Dave,

You can't lose what you never had. regarding the Beetlejuice tune. As for Corgan, I'm over the kid. You should check out the Model Sons (www.modelsons.com) they broke up but their song, "yeah" made it onto an indie flick that did well at sundance and cannes. The guitars sound a lot like your early stuff. back to your roots son!

Hey Dave!

I was wondering if you've heard the new Corgan album?

Christian

I don't think he's had the chance to hear it...oh, wait!

Posted by: Lyn at June 24, 2005 02:49 PM

Dave,
Have you heard the new White Stripes album? What did you think?

Im thinking about getting it as the song on the ad caught my attention, however i've never really been a fan. I also think the guy is a bit of a prick but hey.

I hope the Beetlejuice song leaks or i'll never get to hear it over here.

I like the new Corgan album, it is reminiscent of a band he was in pre-SP in Florida called "The Marked". The lad from Nitzer Ebb really sets up the mood well. Its a product that I have expected from William for some time, glad he took the chance at sticking it out there.

For those of you who can't listen to Stern, I found a clip. Head over to

http://kered.mindsay.com/

Go to the blog dated June 20th, you can hear most of the Beetlejuice Song and an interview with Beetle where he says he was backed by U2 and has a label. Awesome. :)

Hi Dave!

Did you heard about the possible closing of CBGB in NY?
So, the atual owner of the building is trying to raise the rent
and the creator of the bar doesen't have the money to afford this.
This is very sad, 'cause this bar is a patrimony of the music, and its neighborhood became more expensive just because the bar!
You know many contacts in the music business and maybe you could find someone who can afford to buy the place or help the creator of the bar to maintain it!
So, this my message to you now!

Excelent your car!

hey dave,

have you ever bought an awesome record, and then gone to see the band and they just sucked? It's awesome when the opposite happens, but seeing a bad show totally takes the air out of my interest in a band. I don't want to name names *cough* H.I.M. *cough*, but it bums me out.

Link click.

I really think someone like you running a blog like this one is the greatest idea ever. Haven't seen many famous people do that. It's really nice of you to devote a little of your day like that to keep fans up to date with what's going on in your life. Perhaps, if you run into Anthony sometime soon, you could convince him to do something similar? Hehhehe. ;D

How did you get the idea to start it up?

Well that is a shame about the Stern show. Greedy CBS bastards.

I agree with your assesement of the new Corgan album. It took a few listens before I really warmed up to it. Saw him play last night in D.C. It was a much better show than I had anticipated, a little more energy than one might guess. He is still Billy and therefore a great performer/entertainer. Even closed the night by bringing up the house lights and singing a prayer for the audience. Interesting, but very cool.

I really wish TPC was on tour with him! His opening acts left much to be desired. We're waiting for you on the east coast, come soon.

Hey Dave... is Carmen the "empty girl" you talk about in "Hungry"?

Count Duckula,

Dave wrote Hungry long long ago, way before Carmen.
