A Quick 5 - L.E. Update

Rsm_le_logo_cd_cover_040505__1Three new tracks now loaded on the Loop Experiment page!

Also, CFR has been nominated for Best Radio Show!!!

1. Dave, what's your favorite movie about aliens?

There has never been anything, in my opinion, that has even come close to Close Encounters.

2. Over on the Foos' board, some people have been critical of them playing the show (MTV Movie Awards), saying they should have Trent's back (especially since Dave played drums on most of their new record) and not play for MTV since they wouldn't allow Trent to express himself the way he wanted.

Look. You know I love NIN and Trent, but I really think he is a big boy and can fight his own battles. I totally support his right to do what he wants and express himself in any way he wants. (Thank God he does, his means of expression have certainly brought a lot into my life as a fan and listener.) For me, if the Foos want to play the show, it's all good. I'd like to see them. Frankly, I would have rather seen NIN, but since that is out of the question, Dave and the boys will be just fine. I love them both. Just my opinion, I doubt I'll even be able to catch the show at all.

3. What are your thoughts on gay marriage?

People in love should be able to marry. That simple. I really believe that part of the problem is that married couples get tax breaks and the government is more concerned with losing some extra tax money, over this only being a morality issue. The problem seems much more multifaceted. At the end of the day, who cares what people do in their own lives, provided they aren't hurting anyone?

4. Now that Trent is a body builder with impressive neck girth, who would win between you and he in an arm wrestling match?

Hands down, Reznor!

5.

Hi Dave!

Next Tuesday is your birthday. Any plans for a celebration? Can you share? What do you want for a birthday present?

Love and peace ~

Always,
me

5. Why is the sky blue?

j/k... I just wanted to say "hi". Hope you're having a wonderful day.

That's too bad about NIN and MTV. It would've been great to see that performance. It's a shame that we're living in an age where corporate/political forces trump artistic statements. What happened to MTV being so "edgy"? Where is MTV's backbone? (I can venture a guess, but it's not fit for printing!)

Oh well. There will be other opportunities for everyone, I'm sure...

Peace,
-Denise

dave, heres a question i have been dying to ask,

would you say that musicians are getting paid more or making more money than they were, say when Janes first started coming out? or would you say the average amount of money a "rockstar" would be getting now is less than say 15 or 20 or even 30 years ago?? whats is your opinion?

Dave, I was watching all the TDDUP episodes and it was kind of amusing seeing you watch Divorce Court like 5 hours before the wedding. Supwiddat?

Hi Dave

Do Carmen and you sit down and consult/discuss projects before you agree to them, respectively?

dublin ireland........did you ever play there ? any plans to ?

Posted by: stephen mc donald at June 2, 2005 12:49 PM

i remember vaguely when MTV used to be edgy and such...and didn't cater to all this monotonous rap crap or emo bullshit (i hate emo, but i don't mean to offend lovers of emo :-) )...seriously...where's the good music...alhtough 2005 seems to have started on an upswing with new albums from beck, garbage, nin, dream theatre, audioslave etc...so lets hope :-)

much love!

Classic Girl is my all time favourite Jane's song

Dave, I will ask this once more, and then never again, I don't even know why it gets me, but it does.

Johnny Navarro's name is attributed to some statements in the last chapter of Whores...are any of them true?

love

I have a weird thing with Close Encounters. That alien with the really long arms that comes out at the end - freaks me out more than possibly anything I've seen on screen. And the music kind of spooks me too. Maybe because my mom saw the movie in the theatre when she was pregnant with me. So I take it you think aliens are friendly-like?

ha the nominations is from the LA weekly is that the same LA weekly from the back of the LA weekly or is there another one?

a while back an arm wrestling question like said question in number 3. was presented between Dr.G (Dave Grohl) and Sasquatch (Jack Black). If i can remember correctly Sasquatch was the winner. I was thinking you should set something up with ESPN (since MTV is, well lets face it going down hill) for a celeberty arm wrestling match with trent, Dr.G, sasquatch, yourself, and other other musicians with a mighty arm strength. You know make it for charity or something. i know id go.

Hey Dave and 6767 fam!

QUESTION FOR DAVE: After watching all the TDDUP episodes/outtakes, it clearly comes across that you and Carmen have a very deep understanding and respect between the two fo you. How hard was it to overcome the insecurities, paranoia, misunderstandings, and things you can't stand about eachother? Would have been possible had you met her years earlier, or did your headspace/perspective at the time you two started dating really help?

Anyways, why is it today seems to have to do with aliens so much? First I hear the Foo's are performing a special show in Roswell, NM (the site where an alien craft crashed in 1947), I turned on the tv late last nite/early this morning and an X-Files rerun was on, someone today at work mentioned something about Brazilian UFO sightings, now I come here and get Close Encounters talk. Something's in the air.

Speaking of things in the air, anyone getting a whiff of that summer love comin 'round the corner? *Takes a deep breath.* Well, I am. Yes, Sean's seein someone (long story for another time/place). :)

Alright, I'm off to fight the cold/congestion and get a good nights rest (well, after I spend the next hour photo-editing for work anyway...damn).

Peace!
- Sean

Wow, it appears I had temporary dyslexia in that previous post. My "of" came out as "fo". My dab...uh, I mean bad.

*Note: Don't mean to offend anyone who has/knows someone with dyslexia, just pokin fun at myself.*

Hi fan #372,657,642,
Thanks but I didn't make them myself. I'm way too lazy for that. I ordered them via Busy Beaver Button Company. They really do a good job.

In fact I’m getting some done to promote the VR Fan Forum…

Posted by: Wendybird at June 2, 2005 09:07 PM

oh my bad. i thought i had read that you make them yourself. im still givin you the credit tho. you made it happen. something so little and simple has really made me happy. thanks

Congrats on the "Best Radio Show" nomination...well deserved, I might add.

Is there any place us commoners can go and vote for CFR???

Posted by: Cori at June 2, 2005 10:04 PM

HA! See I told you that you deserved an award for the show :D

Posted by: Abby at June 3, 2005 12:28 AM

Hey Dave,

Are you responsible for that rockin' intro to TDDUP? Is there a longer version of it? Let's hear that bro. I think i speak for the majority when i say that your instrumentals are awesome

Posted by: Six7Six7 at June 3, 2005 02:41 AM

Congrats to Jack White & model Karen Elson, they just got married in Brazil.

The silly local newscasters, on the local WPIX morning news, were arguing that he's still married to Meg White.

Another reporter chimed in; "That can't be, she's his sister!" These people are suppossed to be reporters, you'd think they'd get their facts straight BEFORE going on air.

The entertainment reporter tried to inform them Meg is his ex-wife NOT his sister. The other reporter said, yet again: "Are you sure??" loool

with love

Posted by: uncle__dank at June 3, 2005 12:25 PM

Dave,
I saw that your dog is named Daisy, who came up with that name? and is there any back story to the name?

I don't know if you are a supporter of Arnold being Governor but what do you think of that? and also what would you think if he was to run for preident? even though it is said that he can't due to not being born in america.

Thanks,
Catiyana

DAVE, are you doing anything at the MTV movie awards? Presenting? Pre-show? I just saw Carmen kiss Paris on a special show about past movie awards on MTV. You looked so proud!! LOL

Hi dude hows it hangin'? We've just been to see Yngwie Malmsteen in Manchester UK. His playing was incredible but we ended up leaving because he went on a bit... whats your opinion on his music? PS what do you think about Zakk Wylde because we are going to see him on the 18th.

Did somebody mention aliens? heh.

---Hi Dave earthling! what a coincidence! Close Encounters is my favorite alien movie too! (Well, maybe it wasn't just a movie for me and it certainly was NOT alien from my viewpoint...ahh those were the days = the times when all (if not most) humanoids were innocent and naive and could be fooled into believing just about anything ---

we aliens rule you know. one secret has to do with the magnetic polarity of this sphere (your planet). we align ourselves accordingly - it's the reason why so many "others" chose the southwest to "visit". i'm pretty sure that's why this "Dr.G" has chosen such a place too - is he not truely a humanoid either? I sometimes wonder---

sorry to ramble - don't ban me cause I'm an alien! hmm let me see - Happy Birthday 4 days in advance? yes that should do it ---

-ASP (resting in peace)
