Dave
r u a fan of SIN CITY comic
Any plans for an autobiography with your mate Neil Strauss?
oh 1st from N.Ireland YES
Posted by: junkie at May 9, 2005 12:32 PM
Its crashing because the Flash backend is badly built. Not an attack just an observation.
Posted by: Stephen at May 9, 2005 12:34 PM
I bet it did, i had a quick peek and thought it was fantastic. Seemed to make everything like the Community slow, all those large files streaming would put some pressure on I guess.
Hope you guys get it sorted :)
Posted by: Rob.K at May 9, 2005 12:35 PM
Yes exactly. Fix the Flash file and cut down the size of the streams. Im on 1MB Broadband and Rexall was taking way over half an hour to load! I wouldnt mind but its not as if I had the option of watching the video full screen. Again, ignore my rant, just my thoughts. The site is a good idea however!
Posted by: Stephen at May 9, 2005 12:41 PM
yeah, i noticed that too Rob.
hope everything gets sorted too, i can't wait to see those vids
Ben
Posted by: Ben at May 9, 2005 12:41 PM
It's due to the width of the band.
Posted by: lyn at May 9, 2005 12:49 PM
Hey Dave! I'm interested in seeing this. Hope you get it fixed soon! And I hope everything is going well for you! Have a nice dayy!
Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at May 9, 2005 12:51 PM
What's Up Dave!!
I thought I would be gone for a few weeks, but I love this website too much to leave for a while. Still got to get my laptop fixed.
I was really looking forward to the 6767 tv. Guess I'm a bit late. Great idea by the way. Hope it gets fixed soon.

hey Dave!
how was it working for/with Axl in the late 90s?
you played on the song 'Oh My God' didn't you?
Posted by: Svein at May 9, 2005 02:11 PM
hahahahahahaha!
"We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please be advised that the fault does not lie with your set. We will resume our regularly broadcast schedule momentarily. In the meantime, you may hear several alarming beeps. Please be patient, as we work to resolve this matter. Thank you."

Dave
Have you ever met or jammed with Larry Lalonde from Primus? Not sure if he was at NAMM this past year but you're both PRS artists so I figured there was a possibility. What do you think of his playing?

Posted by: Jay V at May 9, 2005 04:02 PM
What is a "flash back end?" LOL
Might want to brush up on your terminology. And the flash is built just fine. Thanks everyone for being patient.

DAVE- Thanks for 6767TV, nice surprise!!!! Now I can watch all the episodes I missed (it was on in my pre-TiVo days.) The Colonic Act, though, YIKES! That must be a side effect of having too much cash on hand. Gotta find interesting ways to spend it all, I guess. Have a good Monday everyone.

ASP WHAT SHOULD I DO IN THE CASE OF DICKNACLE TEFFICULTEE'Z WHICH IZ TWAT I SEEM 2 BE EXPIERIENCING INSTEAD........IM THINKING I SHOULD PANIC!?!
Posted by: U.C.LOSER at May 9, 2005 05:04 PM
Dave I looked into this technical difficulty. I think the problem is that the fetzer value is sticking...probably the humidity.
Posted by: Schwing at May 9, 2005 05:12 PM
Or is it "testicle difnicultes"? And a happy Birthday to you my big loser amigo. Id like to hear the conversation amongst the Creeps n Dave on CFR.*Dave-did you njoy talkin with the creature Creepy. Good dude!
Everybody have good cinco de mayos? Dave-you do anything speshal? I guess the old cntrl-alt-del wont help yas with the technical shizzam, will it? Or turnin shit upside down, which is a common aleve!
Watchin "Storm of The Century" by Stephen King. Recommended to the family here. Just $5 at Walmart(store blows...but I find myself there when I need fishin stuff)....anyway=f'n freaky and well done about a...well...check it out..I can describe in four words that wont mean anything..."four hours of fear/enjoyment". (You substitute the last word!)
Shake it sleazy

@ Chafino - I was being slack with my terminology. I was actually referring to your actionscripting and the way in which you use Flash dynamically. To me, not used in the most effective manner but you will of course defend your work so I won't get into this debate any further. I think the fact that Dave is experiencing technical difficulties speaks volumes about the way your work is constructed. Far too easy to call ones self a Flash producer these days though I guess being paid to repair other peoples mistakes is a good thing. :) Ta Ta
Posted by: Stephen at May 9, 2005 05:36 PM
Well uncle creepy - pull up a chair *have a cold beer* ;) and listen to me a moment:
If you were EVER taught anything at all, then I hope it was that you never ever ever under any circumstances panic!! Although Dave's band may seem to advertise this with their name and what all - I would hope it's just a play on words - an expression of what's felt internally and NEVER displayed externally... Am I clear? You must have nerves of steel (among other things hehe). You must persevere. You must be strong and militant. You must be bold. You must be brave. You must have the courage to call a damn TV repair man/woman in the middle of the night if need be (it's a different world y'all). And if you follow this advice, then I'm sure all will be fine with your TV set in no time at all!! That's right. No more "dicknacle tefficulteez" whatsoevah - only smoooth sailing. I personally can guarantee it. ;)
**Never give into Fear!!**
***Fear is for babeez UC, and I don't think you're one of them*** ;) (nope, not from what I've seen) (thank gawd *rolls eyes at babeez memories*)
and 1 more thing:
****YOU CAN DO IT!!!!****
Well, actually anybody can. It's just a TV set people! What did you think I was talking about?? Hmmm??
Dave, do NOT run downstairs right now. It wasn't THAT hot! (hehe)
tah'tah ;)

I was really enjoying the 6767 TV, and I didn't get around to seeing your colonic on there yet Dave! Bummer!!! Oops. Perhaps bummer isn't the best word to use. Oo That was a genuine faux-pas.
Why be snotty about what's wrong with it? How about just help out nicely, eh? I liked it! I thought may be it was getting too many hits, but am I a techie.. no, so I'll leave it to the wizards.
Love you Dave!!!

Ok, my last post as I dont want to clog this page up. Assuming the snotty comment was directed towards me, it wasn't my intention to come across snooty. Was simply responding to Chafinos LOL comment who by posting that line seems to think he knows better (though he obviously doesn't). If you read my original post, it was simply advice on how to best rectify the matter and was NOT a dig though I obviously touched a nerve so there you go ;). Next time, Ill refrain from posting comments as I seem to have razzled a few of you for which I apologise.
Posted by: Stephen at May 9, 2005 06:19 PM
I'll be in LA the 17th and 18th. Hoping to see many "flashing back ends".

Boots....Storm of the Century is one of my very favorite movies!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
Posted by: Cori at May 9, 2005 06:23 PM
Not razzled at all. Just thought it would be nice for you to help out if you know how to, since this is a family kind of thing.
Posted by: ylais at May 9, 2005 06:33 PM
I just finished side 1/part 1 and am gonna save the second for another day. I really wanna finish it but over 2 hrs is enough today and I dont want to get bad dreams. Yep...I said it....the movie is scary as hell...I wont spoil it with a synopsis, so please no one spoil it with the conclusion!
Im so glad I spent the 5 bucks...its as intense as Lord of The Rings and good marajuana!
I wouldn't wanna poke smot during this movie, and dont recommend it unless you puff all day and can no longer get baked.
Dave-was there a time when you used to have the dank connects. The cali outdoor I see sometimes is as incredible as East coast indoor. Its a fun fun plant to grow too!
Metal halide and high pressure sodium my friends!
Press 7 if ya gotta green thumb...thats my lucky number....

Dave, in the book "Whores" it says that Chris Brinkman was the original guitarist for Janes Addiction and you replaced him. Is that true?
Posted by: Jason Cook at May 9, 2005 07:46 PM
I'm watching some old film called "it's a wonderful world", and the guy just told his buddy, "Don't Panic, Don't Panic, We're British." And I thought Dad's Army did if first with the "Don't Panic Mr. Mainwairing" (damn that spelling. i know it's weird, but i still can't get it right)
Who's going to see the movie "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"? Dave, will you? I'm excited about it? That's unusual for me. Camp out in line in Wales maybe? Who's up for it?

Posted by: Froilan at May 10, 2005 12:32 AM
Ok, I feel kinda bad doing this, but I'm having a terribly bad case of low self esteem lately, like... words can't explain.
I'm only curious what any ladies might think of this pic, if I'm ugly, if I'm not-all-that, if I'm cute, if I'm handsome, if I'm hot, if I have nothing to worry about, whatever. Lay it on me. Maybe I'll lighten up. I just really hate my head and I think I'm losing my hair. It's stressing me out big time.

Wow, hello all, long time no post for me. Anyway, just felt like saying hello to everyone, even though I don't really know anyone here, but that doesn't matter, cuz we're all friendz here, right? Anyway...I've been thinking, it would be great if TPC was released as a "dual disc" like "With_Teeth", where side 2 would be DVD audio and possibly some live footage. I wrote D and mentioned it, but I know alot of that hinges on a label, and i their willingness to kick out the $ to release the record like that. If they release the record by themselves, it would probably be too difficult, but I just thought it would be a great way to release their debut CD. Recommended flashback song of the day -
"Another Brick in the Wall Pt.2" ('Class of '99). I had almost forgotten how much that rips, until i found the soundtrack yesterday for the first time in years. Layne Staley, Tom Morello, Perky, LeNoble... too bad the rumor's of a full record never came to fruition. the instrumental "Another Brick in the Wall pt.1" is awesome too of course...speaking of Floyd cover's, going to see Velvet Revolver for the 3rd time on the 21st, and I hear this time they've added an acoustic version of "Wish you were Here". I'm totally stoked to hear that...wow. N-E-Wayzzzzzz, 'nuff rambling out of me...so if anyone does read this, have a great day!

Creeps-I thought I read a post by ya at work that said its yo b-day while at work...so left field..right field....I guess Im playin so dont be a playa. And ya didnt press 7. Not one person did, guess no one puffs tuff these days?
Cori-tonight will be part two, but first I gotta try out a elecric motor I bought for my canoe. Does Dave have a boat????? Dave??
DAVE READ THIS, ITS SOMETHING IVE WONDERED!!!!????????????!!!!!!!!
Dave-I really wonder what music/songs Carmen's beauty and love has inspired you to write. I wrote a number of love ballads (some of my best work!) on the basis of a girl named Melissa who is now in jail in FLA. Lyrics to ones song are posted at TPC.
The chorus I love to belt out goes-
"A pray for her, I prayer for me
I prayer for her, I pray for me"
and
"Thinking of you", it was the lyric she gave. You ask me my thoughts and so I put them to page. Questioning, visiting my heart and my mind. Hoping at end that I can show you the time."
"Thinking of you...beauty a pen cannot write. Pondering words that equate, your very sight..?uestioning, visiting...."
To me this girl was as beautiful as Carmen is to your eyes and many others...and so Im curious what type of stuff you come up with to serenade her with that acoustic guitar you say lies around your house. Do you ever write slow, melodic, love songs? Have you ever expressed your love for her through music or do you use other channels? (EX-the panic channel.. Just bein stupid for a sec.) Hope youll have the time to expound on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jezz - if you're honest, thanks. I wish I could have more than 1 pic at Hot or Not because, when I do take photos they're usually kinda artsy, I like to experiment with contrasts and stuff and welll, it's easy to use myself as the model as pretentious as it is.
I don't think I'd have as much of a problem if my head wasn't a bit pointy. I suppose there's other things to worry about, but for a guy like me trying to come out of his shell it's like, how I appear matters, at least I think. So I try to make up for it by dressing appealingly in a sense. Not sure if it's working. I am getting my ears pierced and some hoops, it looks nice, and maybe it'll kinda offset my neck accident.
Here's some more artsy pics..

Justin, I don't joke when someone is obviously asking a serious question...After looking at more of your pics, I can see what a sensitive soul is lurking in the shadows. A friendly piece of advice, don't say your head is pointy, people only notice things like that when you bring it up yourself, I think your face and shape of your head give you the broodiness that is what makes you sexy in that intelligent way...but, it is just my opinion, you need to know YOU are hot!!!
love
me
Posted by: jezebel at May 10, 2005 10:59 AM
Justin...love your "artsy" pics and you do not have a pointy head!!!
You are very nice looking...just remember though, attitude is everything baby! You could be the hotest looking stud in the world but, if you don't have that confident attitude, those hot looks may not shine through like they should.
Posted by: Cori at May 10, 2005 11:00 AM
Have you thought about a tech section to maybe tell some of the songwriters and musicians out here how you have achieved certain tones and techniques over the years?
Like what is the sound on your guitar on Summertime Rolls, or what gives the crunch to your Walkabout lead. Stuff like that. Where did the Three days solo come from, The textures in place of leads from TNO, Pedals and wahs etc...
Posted by: darshan at May 10, 2005 11:10 AM
So if a guy truly presents himself in an appealing way.. I don't mean trying too hard, but being himself but a little charming and attentive, and he's not real attractive - it attracts you (grrls)? I guess I'm just skeptical.
The funniest thing is this - prior to having to mow my head, I was confident, but not outgoing. Now, I'm inconfident, and nearing outgoing. What a riddle.

"So if a guy truly presents himself in an appealing way.. I don't mean trying too hard, but being himself but a little charming and attentive, and he's not real attractive - it attracts you (grrls)?"
Exactly...for me....attitude and personality are everything...that is what determines whether someone is "attractive" to me. You can be the best looking person on earth but, if you're an ass...I'm not going to be impressed. Some of the hotest most appealing men I've know have not had classic good looks but, rather a self assurance and personality that makes everyone say "He's so hot...He is sooo cute....Isn't he just a doll!!!"
Justin...you seem to be a sincere and really thoughtful person...just be yourself, have confidence in yourself and let your inner beauty shine through...you are already nice looking but, that won't mean jack if the rest isn't there...it's the whole package that counts
Posted by: Cori at May 10, 2005 11:50 AM
Hey Justin,
Another female POV here...
I just took a look at the 'artsy' pics. (I didn't look at the "hot or not" one, because I didn't want to go on that site while at work... not too appropriate. LOL) My friend, you have NOTHING to be self-conscious about. You have a very cool, unique, handsome look going on. And I've always liked the shaved head thing (as opposed to a receding hairline, comb-over, or rug)... especially when a man has strong features like yours.
I love when people are attractive in an unconventional way... meaning that they don't look like clones of everyone else. Look at Dave -- Having a unique look has certainly helped HIM. (Not too many dudes can pull off fishnets, fur, eyeliner, all those tats... but he can.) It's very sexy when someone has their own thing going on, and they WORK it shamelessly.
And to answer your last question, I do believe that charm and charisma and personality goes a LONG way with the ladies. I'm sure the chicas here will agree!

justin, i just have to tell you, i think you're a really good looking guy..and i totally dig your artsy pics!!
i've been in kind of the same situation as you..and what i did was i changed the way i walked etc. in the beginning it felt strange and uncomfortable. i straightened my shoulders (i didn't walk straight up before) and i held my chin up (used to look at the ground all the time). it felt really exaggerated, but after a while i got used to it and made it my own way of moving and not so over the top but just so i felt comfortable.
after that i got so much attention from guys that it made me feel good inside too. and now i can look everybody in the eyes and feel comfortable with it..
i don't know if it will work for you, but just try to walk up straight and look at people with a smile (not an evil grin....but just 'i feel comfortble and i'm enjoying my day')...sun is shining..or there's a refreshing rain, show the world life is great and that you feel comfortable with yourself and the world. even if it sucks, when you get a smile back it can really make your day....especially if it's a pretty girl
but that's how i work on my self esteem...i say find a way that works best for you.
love, emma

Dave:
Do you find it a little strange that Disney licensed "Stop" for use in the Herbie the Love Bug trailer?

I really appreciate all the advice guys. See it's cool I can just come here with (usually) normal people and they'll be cool and straight up. That's awesome. Admittingly, I do need work on the social skills. As I'm getting older it's like I want out more, although I do treasure my time alone when it's productive.
Related, I asked this Indian girl out today, I'd seen her over a month ago but didn't have any money at the time, but I had my mind on her. I went in got some Mother's Day stuff, and then talked to her, it was like this:
me: excuse me, kavina?
kavina: hi
me: hi, i'm justin
kavina: hi nice to meet you
me: i came in here about a month ago and you got me interested, and i'd like to take you out
kavina: what?
me: i'd like to take you out sometime
kavina: well i'm going to be gone for a few months and i don't know when i'll be back (can feel end of convo right there)
me: oh, well here's my number, give me a call when you're back
kavina: i definitely will
Now, the paranoid me says "call the store in a month and see if she's working. If she is, she meant "no" and move on!". All I can do is wait around. Do I want to wait a few months for this girl, who may or may not call back? I kind of considered coming back in a few months time, but I wouldn't want to seem pushy.
But I went in there without wearing any hat, just was myself. That's how it's got to be done so I did it.

You handled it just right. With that said, I'm not so sure I would check back in a month...many girls from different nationalities are not comfortable, or even allowed, to date people who are of a different nationality or faith.
Is it possible that is the case with her? I don't know why she wouldn't be more upfront about it if that's the case but....some other nationalities are just not as bold about saying things as we are.
Hubby has worked with many clients from India and also many Asian, Hmong, and Vietnamese clients who have very different customs than we do.

Yeah, I have definitely considered the culture and customs thing. Awhile ago I saw a Hmong with a white guy, which surprised me because I usually see Hmong with Hmong. My best friend Mike, who is half-white and half-black (thus half the threat [inside joke]), is dating an Indian girl.

Did you ask her is she was into dudes with heads shaped like arrows? I'm just kidding, again. If she don't want to go out with you, it's her loss. As far as waiting for her-umm, no. I suggest finding the next girl that's gonna be lucky enough to meet you. That's the tude you need to sport and always remember, you're certainly Hmongest friends here.

Just listened to 'Ritual de lo Habitual' again while driving today. Man, this album really is genius. Perry is lyrically genius on it. Eric and Stephen are genius. And, of course, Dave is truly genius, real genius. The guitar on '3 Days' in particular is something special... Just reminds me that this is truly one of the greatest albums ever.
I know this has been said before so many time -- but I had to say it again.

Hi friends,
I agree, Mike... "Ritual" is a classic, and it's great "driving music". I love listening to it while cruising down the highway, rocking out on a hot, sunny day. :)

Is that snicker meant for me Uncle Creepy? If so, then I will have u know: I am NOT a slut, I am NOT a slut! Much like Nixon when he said: I am NOT a crook, I am NOT a crook!
Ah' well, it takes one to know one, "dearest". heh.

Denise,
I love driving to driving music!! (haha) especially on hot sunny days. Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild" comes to mind, probably 'cause I just heard it on the radio last night!
You know what I'm thinking? I'm just thinking how they need to make another movie that showcases some really good tunes. Do you remember "The Big Chill"? and all the tunes that movie featured? It's what made it great - the music. I think we're overdue for another great movie with a deep-seated story-line saturated with the music of generation X - have they made one like this yet? or am I just behind the times? I wonder.
Somebody make this movie please!
*hugs* and *kisses* to the future movie producer..hehe.
:)

Great question/idea, alien. It's been a long time since there has been a movie with a truly remarkable soundtrack that defines a generation. (Either that, or it's escaping me right now.) In the early 90s, people raved about the soundtracks to Reality Bites and Singles, as capturing the essence of "generation X". But that was a while ago. And there have been a lot of other great " soundtracks in recent years, but they are more "retro"... such as Pulp Fiction, Boogie Nights, etc.
I was recently imagining how cool it would be for someone to do a fictional movie / period piece about a bunch of people hitting the road and making a pilgrimage to a Lollapalooza show. I never went, unfortunately, :( so I would love to live vicariously through something like that. In the right hands, this would be an awesome flick. (Perry, are you reading this? ;) LOL)

Hey all, back again (2 in a row, WOW). Anyway, I know Gus Van Zandt (sp?)has a movie called "The Last Day's", which is basically about Kurt Cobain & his final day's, though it's a fictional character (rather than an actual portrayal of 'Kurt', but I think that's because of legal reasons (i.e. Courtney), so they had to go semi-fictional. Hopefully, it will have some good music, but we know it won't have Nirvana because Courtney won't license it for use in movie's. Black Hawk Down had some wicked song's in it. Some AIC (Alice MudGarden, actually..."Right Turn"), some STP too. There's also a movie called "The Highway" with Jared Leto and Jake Gyllenhall (sp?), that take's place on the weekend of Kurt's death, and they travel to Seattle while the vigil is taking place, and even though the movie claim's to have great music from that era, it's all underground "grunge", or seattle band's, none of the "Big Gun's" are on the soundtrack. The Faculty has a COUPLE decent song's, but is really only worth it's weight because of the "Class of '99" collaboration. Personally, I'm still holding out for a real Cobain/Nirvana movie, along the line's of "The Door's" by Oliver Stone. A big fully licensed production with top notch actor's and a great director. Maybe Jared Leto as Cobain? (With long bleach blonde hair he could pull it off). One more music movie to watch for. "Walk the Line". The story of a young Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) & June Carter-Cash (Reese Witherspoon). Supposed to be good, with the all the guitar playing and singing done by the actor's and actresses themselves, after they took a 3 month crash course in guitar playing... anyway, this is way too long, so I'm out...All Apologies!
