Sunday - Sleepy
I'll check in later, I just got home so I'm gonna go watch TiVo'd shit and get some sleep. First, if anyone wants to get into discussion, which I am all for, please do it at the community. I have very little time each day to read up on everyone and get to questions. When there are so many back and forth interactions going on, I find that I just skip through it all. I then miss legitimate questions and comments.
OK. Vegas. The CF show was rockin as usual... NAILS were fucking unreal. By far the best band out there today in my opinion. Twiggy fits in there really well. Trent is just amazing. All the favorites, Hurt, Closer, Terrible Lie, Head Like a Hole, my personal favorite, Reptile, and lots of new material. They played songs from every album, Pretty Hate, Broken, Downward, Fragile and Teeth. Make sure you catch this show!
The tournament. Crushed it. I won that shit! Came in first out of 50 players. What an awesome weekend. Tired. Goodnight.

Dave
Glad to hear you had a good trip and congrats on the ass kicking of those other 49 people.
Oh and I think you wrongfully discriminated against the covergirls of FHM and Stuff. :)
Cheers

Sweet, congrats on the poker win Dave! Sounds like Vegas was a lot of fun. Glad to hear NIN is still playing older material, can't wait to see them in 2 weeks at Hammerstein in NYC. Did Twiggy join Camp Freddy for a song at all?
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Peace!

Dave,
If you get a chance to see "The Hunt for the Devil", or something like that, on MSNBC Investigates I highly recommend it. It's about the hunt and capture of the Green River Killer in Seattle. This guy was really nuts and it took the investigators 20 years to get that guy.
1- ¿Do you watch South Park?
2- Doheny is playing in NYC this Thursday. ¿Will you be at the show?
3- ¿Have you ever been to one of your high school reunions?
4- ¿When will MTV air the show where you babysit your brother?
Later,
Mike from NYC
PS- Motorhead this Thursday. ¿Anyone want to go?

Hey Dave,
I posted this on Friday, but I doubt you had a chance to see it, so I thought I would try again. I was justw wondering what tuning you use because I don't know if you do it, but a lot of good players use like this four finger looking power chord or major chord. I don't know if they are using all four fingers, but the arrangement of fingers kinda looks like an upside down v on the neck with middle finger the highest. Just wondering if you could enlighten me on this.
Thanks,
Nick

Congratulations on the win Dave!
Sounds like you've had a great time - and NIN sound like they were a sight to see! I have to catch them live one day. Did you speak to any members of the band?
Cheers!

Hey -
Dave, glad to hear that you had an exciting weekend and that you kicked butt in poker. (Is there ANYTHING that this man CAN'T do?!) :)
I hope you and everyone else are enjoying a much-deserved restful and relaxing Sunday. (Or for Kyle and the other students, a productive one!)
Ciao for now.

hey dave ,
ive never really heard much NIN , but the word on the (english) street some years ago was that he (reznor) was a poor imitation of the great Jim Thirlwell AKA Foetus .
are you familiar with the work of Foetus and do you agree that he is an often overlooked musical genius ?
and by the way , did you try the tonelab yet ?

Question:

Dave..
If you listen to an instrumental, and are writing a guitar part for it, are you able to accurately convey an idea that you have in your head melody wise? I know alot of guitarists cannot do that...
Posted by: Pistol Pete at May 1, 2005 11:42 AM
dave do you find it odd that youll respond to my comments, albeit innanley, and every time i ask a real question, politly assuming the correct ass kissing position ....nothing.really, why do you even bother at all?i mean if you had something to say maybe, but you have nothing to say(which explains why without a creative force you suck) so keep it to yourself.i wont get upset, im way to happy at the moment, especially with all the excitment (note:not hype) about Satelite Party, Lolla and Porno.i wonder with your bust up how did your rockstar friends react, im only sayin cos it seems like Perrys collaborating with many of his great minded friends and if theres still bad blood between you two and theyre chummy with you both there would be some tention sometime (unless im mistaken and they were never that chummy with you) is that why your not supporting Audioslave? or is that because the coors debacale?
i dunno, just wonderin.

You started the Panic Channel in the garage. Four guys. Playing music. Without record companies, labels, or anything like that.
Playing gigs at small clubs.
My question: do you still use a guitar tech for small shows?
Or do you just change your own strings n' shit?
Really curious.
Thanks.

I'm so glad Dave posted about the NIN show. I go see them in about two 1/2 weeks and I'm seriously tingling with anticipation. Everything I'm hearing about the shows is just fueling the fire!!
Congrats on winning, Dave!

Hey Dave... glad it was a good show. Also glad you guys weren't able to convince Matt Sorum to join you. He rocked out Detroit.
Congratulations on the game. Hopefully soon you'll be making another CPS appearance where you won't get distracted by some woman.

hey Dave,
That time when you quit taking drugs and alcohol and stepped into the natural world of soberity ,how did you control yourself from self destructing and relapsing or going into that place, even that we all now it's ugly and painfull and better off on the safe side. But there's allways that call to try and suck you back in, and i don't mean that coming from a friend.
Any tips Dr Navarro?
Posted by: Lion-Heart at May 1, 2005 04:32 PM
Hi Dave; do you think you guys might do another CFR and/or TPC gig out there (Vegas) anytime soon? Did you make any future arrangements while out there? (I'll be out there on vaca. mid-July, so if the stars and planets were to line up ;)
Glad you're putting your foot down and getting back to the crux of your site. We can certainly understand the time issue these days w/ all the great things you have going on, but it would be nice if it could go back to the old Q. & A. ("Sunday 10"). Keep it up bro! -Al

Dave, Dave, you're my fave...I have an illegitamate question, a bastard question, if you will, lol...
So, was there REAL money involved? or was it just for bragging rights?
Did you find you played better because your lovely wife was there?
And talk about tired!!! How do you think Trent will be feeling tonight, going straight to Coachella after Vegas?
ok, one more, can you give us a hint tomorrow of what you talked about at MusExpo? and why oh WHY was Larry King the moderator, instead of , oh, I don't know, Clive Davis or somebody..?
I gave my brother a birthday present today, a ticket to see Donald Trump speak in L.A., he has this topic, using revenge as motivation, any thoughts?
love to you all!!!

What chords are you playing in the middle of the Been Caught Stealing solo!!!?????
Posted by: Rocky at May 1, 2005 07:49 PM
Hi all,
Speaking of NIN, I just read an article in today's paper about Trent's new music, and how he is finally recovering after years of depression and drug/alcohol abuse. (Good for him!) The depression part doesn't surprise me, but I honestly had no idea that he had drug issues. He didn't seem like "the type" to me, but then again, I guess there IS no "type".
It's intriguing to me how, in certain industries like the music business, something that starts out as a "perk" turns into a serious occupational hazard.
With that said, I wish everyone here inner strength, happiness, and all good things in moderation.
Good night,
-Denise

Hey Dave, great to hear from you. Glad you had a fantastic time in Vegas. Im sure CF rocked just as good as NIN though.
What are your thought ofthe new foo fighters album?
Simon's top 5 albums that he can't wait to come out:
1. NIN
2. CF
3. Foo Fighters
4. Audioslave
5. Coldplay
Capre Diam all.

Fucking A-way to put one in the 'ole "W" column Son! As for NIN, they could've sold out 10 shows here, instead they're playing only 2, each one taking a grand total of 30-45 seconds to sell out. Hoping for a miracle on a tic though. I'm running low on money-I can't even pay to park lately at the rate I'm going-Mars Volta last Friday, Audioslave coming on Tues, VR next Friday, then the Black Crows on Sunday. Whew! If I was some old fart, I'd have to slow down. Hey, it's only Rock and Roll, but I like it.

Anyway, has anyone here ever seen the Sundance original series, the Staircase? Oh, my GOD!! I got sucked into it yesterday, watched all eight episodes, Could NOT avert my eyes. True story of a novelist accused of killing his wife, they show the whole thing documentary style...with his FAMILY's cooperation, the daughters, the sisters, the brothers, the attorneys, complete with music score, RIVETING!!
