Friday

Just a quick little check in. Tomorrow is an all new CFR on Indie. Billy says he has a special surprise for me, but I have no idea what it could be. The past two weeks have been rebroadcasts as we have had CF business on those days. We are back in full force tomorrow. 6pm - 8pm. Everyone have With Teeth? Just amazing. It is certainly a must own. TPC has been doing a lot of writing this week. We are rehearsing and getting our chops back together for the shows on the 17th and the 20th. I am really looking forward to the M.A.P. show as we will be sharing the bill with Jerry Cantrell's new band. I love watching that guy play music. He just rules. I went to a poker game at his house the other night. Left about even. Tonight I am having a home tournament - $100.00 buy in, winner take all. Should be fun. It's about time I start up a weekly game at the house. 8 or 9 players, could make for a very happy winner. Players will include Johnny, my cousin and long time writing partner, Steve I, Shannon Elizabeth, her friend Heather, who appeared on the E! Show with us, and a few others I have yet to meet.

1. I saw Garbage in concert last Thursday... is Eric Avery playing bass on tour for them???

Yes, he is!

2. Dave, I was wondering, are you looking forward to the new Star Wars movie? Will you be waiting in line for it?

I am already in line. I am typing this from a wireless device.

3. I also wonder what your thoughts are about shows like American Idol. Do you feel that takes away from the bands out there on tour trying to plug a new album the old fashioned way?

I really don't. For me, that show is pure entertainment value, not art or creativity. I watch the show but I have never run out and purchased an Idol record. Well... except for Clay's. And Kelly's, BUT THAT'S IT. I swear.

4. As a listener, it seems the radio stations cater to the "Idols" more so than the artists who are doing it the hard way.

I hear that. That is why we work at Indie and try to do our part in playing what moves us as listeners and artists.

5. What was your favorite JA/RHCP song to play live?

Then She Did/Suck My Kiss.

Are there any new bands who you've been listening to recently?

Posted by: Sophie at May 6, 2005 01:15 PM

Any news on if there will be tickets for the MAP show available to the public? Also, do you know if Jerry's band is going to be the original members of the Cardboard Vampyres or a modified band?

P.S. I have $100 to lose if you have an address!

Hey Dave,

Just stoppin in to say hi! Good luck with the new weekly poker game at your house. Glad CFR is back in action this week and things are rolling along with writing/recording with TPC, can't wait to hear that record all fleshed out, from the bits and pieces you've given us, it sounds like it's going to totally rock!

Thanks Dave for the continuing inspiration and keeping in touch with us fans. I know I've probably said it before, but I'm in a thankful kind of mood today with many things. :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

Peace!
- Sean

Indeed, rxs.

Dave, have you always been a poker fanatic, or is this something you picked up recently?

Anyway, it's great to hear from you. Have a fantastically fun weekend.

In Response to your favorite JA song to play live, Why was Then She Did played live so rarely? While SMK was played so often with RHCP?

BTW the Violin was a beautiful touch to the live shows. I noticed from some recordings that you threw in a Cure lick or two back in the day.

Great performances, all of them...

hey dave,

Remember me? you met my mother and i at the palms last year for the celebrity poker. I thought it was kinda cool that you played for autisim because currently i am taking care of a severely autistic child. He doesnt really understand much, and can barely hear because hes also 80% deaf , but your music seems to make him smile and i thought you should know :)

Hope to see you again in vegas soon!

Hey Dave and DN Family,

Here is a recap of last night:

I went to the Motorhead & Slunt concert last night. It fucking kicked ASS. Slunt is amazing. If you ever have a chance to see them, go run for tickets. Motorhead was LOUD and great. Just what I expected. Lemmy is the man.

So after the show, my friend Christine and I went to Snitch and met, the one the only, BILLY MORRISON. Doheny played there last night. I was unable to see them play because I had work this morning.

I wasn't really looking for him, but then I a familiar voice and knew that it was him. I told him how much I loved seeing Camp Freddy play and hearing their show on Indie. He was really cool and approachable. I wish that I was able to see Doheny play, but at least I got to meet Billy.

Dave, did you play at Snitch after the Camp Freddy show in October?

BTW, I am definitely having my birthday party at Snitch next year. It's an awesome club. The DJ was great. I highly recommend that place.

Have a great weekend everyone,
Later,

Thanks for answering a few of my questions.

My dad always told me I asked too many questions and would yell, "What are ya, a friggin' cop?"

LOL. Nope not a cop, but I did grow up to be a reporter. You aren't on the record by the way, I'm here for my own pleasure. So thanks for being here!

Have a great weekend!

I know this is off topic, but I'm trying to get in touch with Dave Navarro. This is another Dave Navarro, specifically the one with the davenavarro.com domain, and I was wondering if anyone (artist or fan) would be interested in purchasing it.

I've had it for years (nice to have an easy email address) but now am looking to pass it on.

I'll check this thread for replies, and anyone who's interested in more info can touch base with me at dave@davenavarro.com.

Thanks,

Dave Navarro

Hi Dave!

Do you actually use any kind of Tech 21 gear (like the SansAmps, for instance)?

All the best,

Dave-do ya like classical music,if so who's your favourite composer and what your favorite piece?

Posted by: MOOYYAA at May 6, 2005 04:48 PM

Dave, during the earlier years when your first joined Jane's, while the touring experience was very new to you, did you find yourself from time to time thinking " what the hell AM I doing? " in other words, self doubt?

Hi Dave

I caught Carmen on "Joey", for those who missed it...Carmen was 'suppossed' to be playing herself as the guest star on Joey's sitcom (or is it a soap opera he stars in?) You will see why I say 'suppossed'..... loool

For others reading this who don't watch "Joey"....Matt LeBlanc reprises the role he played on "Friends". He's a an dumb-but-cute NY actor now living in LA, he finally lands a starring role on a TV show. He lives with his shy nephew, the son of Drea De Matteo's character. Dave's fave Madchen Amick plays Joey's new girlfriend.

Here's my 'silly' question....WHY was Carmen interested in having sex with Joey?

If she was really playing herself...she is, after all, married to YOU in real life. As a married woman she clearly wouldn't be interested in pursuing Joey. Anyone who is a fan of Carmen or you, knows she's married.

That was a pretty BIG flaw in that script, other than that....the show was fun...and YES.....Carmen IS "The Hardest Working Woman in Showbusiness"!!

She appeared in about 5 shows this week! Not to mention all the other shows in repeats she happened to be in...."Hope & Faith", Leno's repeat from last week etc.
Very busy lady!

Seriously, how many days in a week do you and Carmen actually see each other? She seems to travel even more than you do. loool Hope you do get to spend some time together soon.

Btw, the Stern repeat was hilarious! Savanna Samson is one dizzy chick! lol

Typical Stern.....to think DTTAH was about your sex life! That's what I find most annoying about Stern as an interviewer, he NEVER seems to research any of the guests he has on his show. At least you had pretty great comeback lines!

take care,
itanja

It'll be so great hearing CFR live again. For a moment there, I thought it was canceled.

NO JIZZABEL IM NOT THE SURPRISE GUEST EITHER.........NOT IN MY WILDEST FANTASEAZ.........ID BE TO STONED AND DUMBFOUNDED IN THE PRESENCE OF MY GOD TO EVEN BE ABLE TO SLUR MY WORDZ COHERANTLY.......LET ALONE CARRY ON A DECENT CONVERSATION...........ID BE LIKE A SUPER STONED BEAVIS.....DUHHHHHH DUH-UH DUHH.......DUHHHHHHHHHHH.......UR PRETTY DAVE........DUHHHHH

Posted by: U.C.Loser at May 6, 2005 06:22 PM

ummm, just wanted to say to myself, no back and forth interaction....no back and forth interaction...no back and forth interaction. I'm thinking of a line from Taxi Driver, Dave, I love it on CFR when you do a line from a movie...Do you and Billy have any tix to give away, maybe for an El Faro or MAP charity event? Orrrrrrrr, I could really dig on some 103.1 sweatbands...

Dave,

I enjoy this site and am always amused and educated by the postings. Really enjoy the "Rhimorse" download of Somebody Else. For the majority who will never be able to own Rhimorse, since it's not for retail, could you make it available, or perhaps downloads of the rest of the album?
Thanks,

Aaron

What's cracklackin' peeps?? Dave we'll buy in at $100 fo sho "P

Itanja- I saw Carmen on Ellen...the dancing was too funny!
Im so diggin' the blonde hair Carmen your white pantsuit was bangin' too girl..got it goin on!!

Posted by: Colleen at May 6, 2005 07:15 PM

Hi Colleen,

Yeah I also saw Carmen on "Ellen"...I forgot that show! Carmen is EVERYWHERE!

I'm still trying to figure out WHY they wrote into the "Joey" script that Carmen wanted to have sex with Joey...after all....she was playing herself.

And most of us know she's married to Dave.....guess she wasn't playing the 'real' Carmen! lol In real life, who would want Matt over Dave! ??

Then again, I ALWAYS pick holes in most scripts!! lool

It's also funny this "Six Degrees of Dave Navarro" thing going on with the "Joey" show.....Carmen was on it & Madchen Amick is now a semi-regular...so Matt LeBlanc now joins the "Six Degrees of Dave" list! loool

How are you doing with your house? I thought I was going to have an electrical fire in my co-op the other night. I switched on my dining room light switch, then heard a SIZZLING sound & then a weird smell like plastic burning! Meanwhile, the light fixture did go on!

Thankfully, it was only the light switch conking out!

take care,
itanja

"i am taking care of a severely autistic child. He doesnt really understand much, and can barely hear because hes also 80% deaf , but your music seems to make him smile and i thought you should know :)" - Mandy

Mandy, that's really touching that music is reaching him in a way that makes him smile. That's a truly wonderful and powerful thing. Thanks for posting that. :)

Jeff...that is possibly the most bizzare page online. Only on the internet can you go to a website where you can buy Jay-Z's shit (literally) and Dave's "bacteria". Truly some weird people out there. I mean, I like Dave and all, but I don't really want his "bacteria". No offense Dave! :)

Goodnight!

hi Dave, I have a question for you:

do you still hang out with Neil Strauss? During the Don't Try This At Home year you seem to have developed a rather strong and friendly relationship, just curious to know if you two still keep in touch.

thanks!

hey family

hope you are all well, i went and got the velvet revolver album, really awesome!

dave, i think that now is the perfect time that TPC releases the album. it seems bands that are made up of older bands are the popular thing at the moment. there is audioslave(soundgarden and RATM), now velvet revolver(GnR and STP), i think that TPC is the next big thing, honestly! i think the music and the timing is all perfect! i cant wait! !

much love

Hello Dave,
"Then She Did" is a great song. I wish I could've seen you guys play "Jane Says", my fave JA song, live.
Won't be here for a while, haven't been feeling so good, emotionally. In the meantime I'm going to get an e-mail address, cause I don't really have one. I'm using someone elses and I'm changing to Yahoo, the internet I have isn't workin for me.
See you later
