Dragonfly

Gmail_1Copyright 2005 Debbie VanStory

Less than 3 hours away is another Panic show at the Dragonfly. I'm all jacked up on coffee so I thought I'd just post and say hello. Tonight, our set should look something like this:

Teahouse of the Spirits
Awake
Loophole
Go On
Blue Bruises
Said You'd Be
Left To Lose
Bloody Mary
She Won't Last

I'm glad the 6767 TV is now working and that you enjoy it. Right now we don't have much else to put up but when we do it'll be up there for sure. Have a great evening and you can make the show, we'll see you there. If not, we'll see you here.

Hi Dave,

I know you are friends with Pamella Des Barres who has spent some time around Frank Zappa. I was wondering if she has ever mentioned any Zappa Stories and if you are a fan of any of his 70 odd albums?

Posted by: Graham at May 18, 2005 06:25 AM

Wow. I mean, just a fucking awesome show. Thank you Man!

Posted by: Lyn at May 18, 2005 07:26 AM

I agree, if it is possible, the songs get better every time!! I LOVED the set list pic of Christopher Walken(I got a fever, and the only cure is MORE COWBELL!!)

It was great seeing old friends, and meeting new ones (Michael Malediction, Scott, and the lovely girl who helped me get through the crowd)...

And to finally meet Lyn and Mike C. in person..you guys are AMAZING!!! (Lyn, I was wondering if you could help me triple my post count?)

The only thing was, I missed my bluelizard and junebug SOOOO much..I love you both.

one more thing (don't you all wish?)
Blue Bruises was almost too much for me to take, I found myself having to step away, really, an emotional song. I haven't been that affected by lyrics in quite a while.

jezzi(and Dave, the hair is AWESOME!!!)

I am enjoying 6767TV...I like the video clips of shows most of all. I think it will always be odd to me that anyone would tape themselves getting a colonic but hey, that's just me haha
I have to admire the fabulous couple for their business accumen.

OK, here's a question. Not a good or comfortable one, perhaps, but a question nonetheless. Wait, incidental question I just thought of - *How exactly do we send questions to be answered through 'whatcha wanna know?'
OK, now the REAL question I meant to ask...
Coming from a worried 'jewish mother'/annoying former psych major perspective, I have often wondered if the persistent need to chronicle yourself on tape for the public is not due at least in part due to the experiences you had when thrust into the spotlight at the age of 17 in Jane's? I mean, I have to think that being put in that kind of a position when your adolescence isn't even fully developed isn't absolutely stunting in some ways, particulary when combined with other trauma (which we're all aware of and THAT has to be an interesting variable as well but you've been asked and asked about that). I dunno, I guess I have to admit that it makes me sad in an oddly protective way when I see you so exposed all the time.
On the other hand, I am clearly a hypocrite because I partake in the fun of 'watching you' in some of your many expository methods of media...as a person who has been all too happy to watch your ejaculate squirt across the screen, I realize I am part of the equation of exhibition :)

ok and lastly - The person who wrote this a few days back is v smart and I totally agree: "One more thing...I also think it's kind of uncool to boast on here about your partying/drug intake over the last weekend, etc... " it just goes on from there and it's v astute. I am always reminded of the movie 'Porky's' anytime I see anyone blathering on about how validated their subtance intakes make them feel.

Posted by: Kevin at May 18, 2005 06:19 PM

No one NEEDS a reason to relapse. I'm watching someone relapse basically right in front of me and believe me, there's no reason for it other than pure weakness. Dave is not someone I would consider weak. That's one of the things I admire most about him. Do yourself a favor, and do whatever it takes to stay clean as long as you can. Take it from someone who knows what it's like loving an h addict, you are worth more than you will ever truly realize to someone, and you are of more use to people alive and healthy! I'm sorry to stick my nose in, but this struck a cord with me!

Posted by: sweetmelis at May 18, 2005 08:12 PM

Sweetmelis - I couldn't agree more with what you just said. Dave IS a HUGE inspiration for many of us in many ways, without a doubt. But as they say: If Dave told you to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge, would you do it? We all have to find strength within ourselves to do what what's right for us.

Anyhow, I just took a closer look at Wendy and Scott's pics, and they're GREAT. Absolutely stunning. Thanks so much for sharing them.

QQQ - Yeah, Dave does make some "guitar faces". But when he does it, it's SO damn sexy. In fact, after seeing all these pics, I have a feeling I'm going to have sweet dreams tonight. ;)

Sweet dreams to all of you!

Posted by: Lyn at May 18, 2005 11:07 PM

tommy lee slams crank and sports 2 black bandanas on his wrists 24/7. 85%of the junkies in LA wear bandanas on their wrists for the same reason. the veins in the wrist are easy to hit. its not totally inconceivable.

When you were playing on the Hollywood Hold'em show and you were asked about a tatoo and said you couldnt tell the story behind it.. Was it the one on your elbow? I didnt quite catch one he asked about

Posted by: lppa2004 at May 19, 2005 12:23 AM

audioslave was awesome on kimmell just now. but chris cornell looked and sounded rather shitty. he's gettin old. aging badly, and appeared rather drunk. sux, I hope he was just having an off night, cuz if this is an indication of the new album, then im very sad.

Posted by: i hope i'm wrong at May 19, 2005 01:00 AM

I thought it was just a wristband. And those are trendy.
It fashionable and useful! Cool!

So I think that thinking it's anything more than that shows it's on your mind..I mean it's all about what you're dealing with yourself.

Okay, you guys that all went to the show..you've got to tell us some more about it please! On the tpc board I've seen a few pics

I hope your wrong too, and as a h-feign I know how to hide the tracks. dope doesnt mark ya up like coke...very easy to hide when you first develop a habit. Most have a favorite spot..not to often the wrist...I hit opposite the elbow. Im not too alarmed, but sobriety and a program is a solo project. So many people fail that sponsors and those with years of sobriety are at high risk. Stay sober long enough, youll be your own hero. JUnk calls ya always, and its the addicts cross to bear.

EVeryone keep the cotton outta the spoon.
If anyone ever needed to talk I check my email regularly. Bandanas are not a trend out here in Harford, and there is no way to tell if someones on junk. I have to be careful to not be quick to judge if I catch someone nod...they may just be tired but Id dont wanna make myself jones. I was a junky and a drug counselor working with a team of addiction specialist who were clueless to my habit. As long as a supply is steady, and hiding the truth is gonna keep the addict maintaining..they will not lead you to believe they are "active" in addiction.

Creeps-get yo ass to a post office son! I need some new music. You dig "The Will to Death" I sent????

Anyone got some incredible music they love so much they want others to hear?? Talk to me!!!!

"Anyone got some incredible music they love so much they want others to hear?? Talk to me!!!!"

Actually, boots, I have an interesting recommendation. After hearing a lot of hype and hoo-haa about the Scissor Sisters, I decided to get one of their CDs... a remix CD. They did a remake of "Comfortably Numb" that puts a whole new dance/funk/electro spin on the song. Some rock purists may find it to be an abomination of a classic, but I think it's clever, creative, and bangin'!! It's sure to be an integral part of my personal soundtrack for the Summer of 2005.

Hi Dave, got a minute?

I was wearing a shirt yesterday, and I noticed about 2 in the afternoon that my tag was out, and nobody had told me....grrr

Later, I took my son out to dinner, and was reminded why I love him...

Mike: "What's with the hair?"
Me: "Whats wrong with it?"
Mike: "It looks like ponytail hair, do something!"

So, here's my question, and if you could answer it on watcha wanna know...ahhhh, dreamy!!!

Do you have people in your life, besides your wife, that help you keep it real, that tell you when you have food stuck in your teeth, in a figurative sense?
And do you trust them enough to follow their advice as to how to unlodge obstructions?

I've never posted here before, but first time for everything...

I checked out your book yesterday. Read the whole damn thing. Stayed up late. Late for work. Thanks!

Amazing (not always in the best way)journey you took. I just wanted to say I'm proud of you for not being afraid to share it. I have been on a similar one and really appreciate your bravery in showing the ugly side.

I hate to admit this but I don't know much of your music (sorry) but I do find myself liking you very much. Your attitude I guess. I love where your head is at and that you are so happy and not afraid to talk about it. You seem to be centered spritually/physically/emotionally. I just find myself feeling happy for you even thought I dont' know you. I hope I don't sound totally weird, I'm not sure how to write what I am thinking.

I don't have a question for you or anything. I just wanted to say that I am proud of you for overcoming. I know how hard it is.

Also, my boss thanks you for my oversleeping too! haha
Have a great weekend.

Dave thanks so much for the scene from TDDUP where Carmen gives you a shot, that was by far our favorite part of the whole show! Somehow it manages to show Carmen as caring and cute, yet mischievious and very funny...loved it!

...oh you were really cute too, especially the way you look at the needle when you're holding it! :) And so sweet of you to offer to give Carmen her shot too, but I would have said the same thing she said "Oh no, NO WAY"

"Anyone ever get arrogent fits of depression...right now Im likin the past better than the present?"

Oh, hell yeah, boots. I've definitely had those days. I'm learning to love the present right now, but that was not always the case. There have been many times where I wished I could go back to the "good old days" when life was brand-new and carefree. It took a lot of time and hard work to get to this point.

Perhaps on a related note (?)...

DAVE - Again, congrats on the much-deserved award tonight. Charity work notwithstanding, you're an inspiring example of someone who consistently tries to do the absolute best with the hand that you've been dealt. (Is it any wonder that you're a poker champ as well?) For that, I will always admire and applaud you.

Love,

Did you bring over any leftover Jane's or Deconstruction riffs you had written to be used in RHCP songs?

I know there was a bunch of stuff from Jane's that was translated over into Porno For Pyros.

I still think that OHM is one of the best and most underrated uses of guitar out there. Maybe if you guys had put it out under a different name it would have recieved more recognition. Anthony hasn't sang like that before or since. You must've contributed to bringing something out of him in some of those tunes like Transcending.

I wanted to let you know that I just finished reading your book. First of all, the design is wonderful. I dont know how much input you had in the layout of the book but it looks fantastic. Secondly, the content is "cant-put-it-down" material. I have a newborn baby and let me tell you, I would be up all hours of the night reading your book while I was feeding her. Just wanted to tell you that you and Neil did a great job!!!
I also must say that the 6767 tv is awesome!! Love the Iggy cover! Take care!!

No need worry, Creepystylee...the methadones a blocker and im workin on take homes. Until I figure out how long the blocker lasts and spit the shit out on the clinic floor Ill be fine. The real problem will be the willpower of the fourth bottle and on. Dope in your system 3 days means I can skip a dose n bundle up and pass a urine if need be, I pray when the time comes Ill be stonger...but the Joneser in me Jones's if ya understand.

Dave you were beautiful tonight... I'll post some pics in a few. The highlight of my night was at the end of the TPC set a couple of guys behind me jumped out of their seat and screamed “it was all worth it for that, that’s what I’m talking about. I loved it! You guys were great.

Posted by: Wendybird at May 21, 2005 12:49 AM

Aarrgh, Wendy!! you lucky girl!! I'm glad you had a good time =) I was at work doing another long crappy shift while you were enjoying ANOTHER TPC show (2 in one week, that should be illegal!), but I can't wait to see the pics!!!

Peace everybody...no more questions from the bootsman. Jezzis one nasty person, and uses her basis as "in Daves best interest".
Her new opinion is that she thinks Dave cant handle my last posts. If not, well welcome to reality Dave and stay outta NA because much worst is said to the point where I dont go and instead sometimes visit AA. Also my final post..I must say that Jezzi is a front behind a fat ass worthless and nasty person. Never in reality have I met such a childish and spinless (no bones/just fat ass) person.

So Daves got a superfan who spends so much time on the internet that computers are her passion as well as being nasty to others whos real passion is music(whether creating/spreading/listening/goin to shows or playin).

So go on Jezzi, Ill be watchin your show...with every real person out there.
Your extreme presence makes me think TPC has a lame fan base if thats what you consider yourself. I have all the psycho emails you sent me about YOU AND DAVE knowing I post as other people to bring down the community. And what do you have, ME APOLOGIZING for your confusion.

Do you know what REAL is?

Reality Equals All Life

IM SICK YOUR A TEACHER!!!

Boots

PS- Hope you got my demo Dave thats all I really wanted. Everything else Ive ever worked on with guitar has been rap/hip hop. So I sent something more your style.
Check it out...and be stronger than Jezzi makes you out to be and beware...shes pyscho!

Last?

Posted by: Lyn at May 21, 2005 11:04 AM

Hmmm, fat ass, psycho, sick teacher, spineless, worthless, childish, nasty, lame fan....is that all you got?

Hell yeah, bitch, aren't you the observant one!! I know this isn't your last post!! I'll be expecting one from your buds and your aliases soon!!

Your kindness to me is matched only by your own need to be recognized here, who's the attention whore?

good luck Joey!!
love
jezzi( that's NOT what I meant)

WTF has happened to this place-everyone was so nice before the TPC community started,do people argue here because they are afraid of saying something that'll get the banned from there,so they say it here instead.
I'd say the majority of people are here to get along, these ones that argue cannot restrain themselves so this place just gets taken up by trading insults.
This place has really changed.

OKAY...NOW I AM JUMPIN' ON THIS BAND-WAGON!! I AM GETTING SICK AND FUCKIN' TIRED OF EVERYONE CALLING JEZZI A FAT ASS...ETC...!!! YOU KNOW WHEN YOU INSULT A LARGER WOMAN ON A BLOG LIKE THIS YOU INSULT EVERY OTHER FEMALE WHO HAS A 'FAT ASS'THAT READS THIS!! SO I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK-YOU FOR THE INSULT!!! LIKE JEZZI SAID 'IS THAT ALL YA GOT?' IT'S KINDA FUNNY HOW PEOPLE ATTACK FAT PEOPLE....LIKE DUH...I LOOK IN THE MIRROR EVERYDAY...YOU MEAN I'M FAT?? AND I HAVE SEEN PICS OF JEZZI SHE'S HARDLY WHAT I CALL FAT...IF SHE'S FAT THEN I AM THE GOODYEAR BLIMP!! YOU KNOW PEOPLE WHO ARE FAT CAN LOSE WEIGHT....YOU CAN'T LOSE UGLY!!!

Posted by: TRACY at May 21, 2005 12:48 PM

Dave~Will you be on CFR this week?

Posted by: ylais at May 21, 2005 12:50 PM

JEZZI I KNOW YOU CAN FIGHT YOUR OWN BATTLES..IT HAD TO BE SAID THAT WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY! DAVE SORRY TO DO THAT ON YOUR BLOG!

Posted by: TRACY at May 21, 2005 12:53 PM

This is getting really silly people! Come on!
It's out of hand. Email each other if you have to go that far, then the rest of us don't have to deal with it as well.
And my biggest request, is please shut up about drugs. E-Mail each other and yap about them. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL!!! I don't want my 15 year old son coming on here and reading all about that. (whether or not he hears it at school or wherever, can you take your personal shit about drug use OFF here) This isn;t Narcotics Anonymous, or the local crack house. I'm not arguing, I am ASKING you to do it out of consideration and respect for everyone.

Posted by: ylais at May 21, 2005 01:01 PM

Please take things between each other somewhere else, is this really the place?

Posted by: willd at May 21, 2005 01:11 PM

...sitting here wondering if my ass looks fat

Posted by: ***Cyn*** at May 21, 2005 01:12 PM

give me a break, what are you the blog police?

Posted by: give me a break at May 21, 2005 01:13 PM

I am sorry guys...NO this isn't the place to do this I agree BUT when someone is being insulted time after time again it's annoying especially when it's not necessary!! I am sure Jezzi really enjoys coming here everyday to be called fat ass etc... I said what I said in her defense anyone who doesn't like that can get over it! I would do it for anyone who was being attacked over and over again!! FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE A RESPONSE TO MY POST...SO WE CAN TAKE IT OFF DAVE'S BLOG!! HARLEYSGIRL3794@AOL.COM

Posted by: TRACY at May 21, 2005 01:18 PM

Thats right,we're the blog swat team,
