Vegas
So today we are flying out to Vegas for the Hard Rock Hotel 10th Anniversary celebration and the Camp Freddy show on the 30th. Should be a great show at the club Body English tomorrow night. All the usual suspects, Steve I, Chaney, Perk, Morrison, Zombie, Macy, Steve Jones, Cantrell, Duffy, McGrath, Tone Loc, Terri Nunn, Michael Des Barres, Annabella Lewin... As a result, CFR tomorrow night will be a rebroadcast of the Ozzy show. Lots of gambling, late nights, NIN and Coldplay. It's like a 3 day event out there, plus the Wynn Hotel just opened up so Vegas should be on fire this weekend.
I'm entered in a poker tournament in the afternoon tomorrow. Maybe I'll do all right as I won't be on television, losing my ass. I do have to leave immediately after the show as Carmen has to work on Sunday and I have this Musexpo thing to speak at first thing Monday morning. Gotta be sharp. Then it's a full week of rehearsal and getting ready for the 17th show at the Dragonfly and the 20th Music Cares event.
1. Dave - are you going to pick up Whores: An Oral Biography of Perry Farrell and Jane's Addiction when it comes out? Or do you already have it? Just wondering what you think about it.
I don't know. If it falls into my hands I will look at it of course, but I probably won't run out and buy a copy. I doubt there is anything in there I don't already know, and if there is, I doubt I want to know. Hahahaha.
2. I COULD BE MISTAKEN BOOTSY BUT IM PRETTY SURE DAVE AND BRIAN HAVE GONE IN TOGETHER ON BUNDLES
That is a pretty accurate assumption.
3. Carmen explained why Dave doesn't like to be massaged at a spa...because he gets aroused......
Yeah, I figure, don't start something you don't plan on finishing!
4. Do you have a daily practice routine on guitar?
Not really, but we rehearse so much that I get it all in then.
5. Wow Dave, that is so cool about Carmen! BUT, inquiring minds want to know - would you auction yourself off?
Hahaha there are some that would say I do that all the time anyway! But yes, for the right cause and the green light from my wife, I'd be happy to hold an auction exclusive to the cover girls of Maxim.

Dream Date
There is an auction on e-bay. The winner gets a date with my wife, Carmen, and the proceeds go to prostate cancer research. I was gonna try to outbid and win, but it's getting way too high now! The picture with the "Place Your Face Here" space is hilarious. She is such a trooper.
1. My girlfriend is a 'Squirter,' what should I do?
So many things come to mind. Thank your lucky stars for starters and maybe invest in a snorkel and dive mask. Flippers are optional.
2. Dave, what kind of recording equipment do you have at home?
Nothing. Actually all I have at home is am acoustic guitar for writing.
3. Dave, I must know ... since you've never really had a "job ," how do you figure you could appreciate your career fully?
Honestly, interacting with all of you is a huge part of it.
4. Dave do you have a certain song you like to 'shag' to? Inquiring minds want to know....lol
Most of Massive Attack's Mezzanine is really great.
5. How do you take your coffee?
Black!

Tuesday
1. The fishnets that you wore to accompany the plaid on the runway, your private collection?
They were of my own collection.
2. Did you sell Yamaha the rights to use that logo or did you give them permission to use it on your signature guitar?
Nah, it's just to be used on the guitar.
3. But did you and Carmen get recent coloring done to your hair?
She's blonder, I'm darker. Yes.
4. Hey Dave I was just wondering would you ever "Punk" Carmen?
No, after the last April fool's joke (years ago) I pulled on her, I know that shit won't fly! I had someone call and ask her to appear on a daytime talk show called "Celebrity Secrets Revealed". Like a Sally or a Montell or a Springer. My friend, who was portraying a producer of the hypothetical show, told her that I had a secret to reveal on television to her. You know, it's never good when they do that. Anyway, she was less than amused, to say the least. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.
5. How do I go about getting tickets for that? Dragonfly, May 17th show - TPC
I think it is a first come first served deal at the door.
6. "Don't forget the irony, and you deleted posts..."
Thanx for all the time and energy you have spent here!

25 Gallons
I finally saw the commercial with the Jane's song in it. The ironic thing is that they threw more money at that 30 second spot then any label has ever thrown at a full Jane's video. Go figure.
1. Is there was anything you regretted not doing in regard to your wedding? Was there anything you would have done without now that you look back?
Not really. Everyone always puts so much pressure on the plans and the whole ordeal that they tend to forget what the day is all about. Like, now looking back on it, I have no idea what the napkins looked like or what songs were played, but I DO remember marrying my wife because I love her. That is enough for me.
2. Who is/was your favorite Beetle?
John Lennon.
3. Will you guys be releasing the CFR record in the UK?
I hope so, if not we will make it available online download style.
4. When u die, what tattoo should I get in your memory? And where is it gonna go?
I'd say simple. Like a life sized portrait back piece.
5. How do you avoid the perils of junk food when you're away from home all day working? Do you take your lunch to work with you?
In fact, yes I do. I usually bring a salad along to the rehearsal studio with me to avoid all the junk they sell in the area.
6. Does Carmen like your hair longer or when it was short?
She says long.
7. Is the April 30th Camp Freddy Vegas show open to the public?
I don't know. That would be a great question for the Hard Rock Hotel. We are playing at a club called Body English around 1:30 a.m.
8. Who picks out the songs that get played on CFR? Is it strictly you and Billy, or do the heads at Indie 103 get involved as well?
For CFR, we bring in our own playlist for the show. That is why we can't take requests, if we didn't bring it, we don't have it.
9. I was wondering if you still have to fight the tendency to isolate yourself, or was that strictly addiction related?
I go through spells where I do like to isolate for sure. One of my favorite things to do is to get a box set of DVDs and spend an entire day watching a whole season of a program. I'd say I am addictive when it comes to isolation and socialization. I isolate so I can energize for social interaction.
10. Did you manage to catch the Doheny gig last night?
No. We had a little house party last night for Carmen's Birthday. Billy and his wife Jennifer were missed, as I am sure, were we.

C.E. - 4/20
I know, I have been so out of the loop lately. So much stuff going on. First, lemme just confess. I am smoking again. I made it like 43 days and then, just like it was nothing, I was back in. Maybe that's why I am compelled to post again. I like to smoke as I type. Anyway, Steve Isaacs and I went to my wife's birthday party tonight. Lots of fun. Tomorrow Carmen and I are going to be in a fashion show to help raise money for the treatment of MS. We both have people close to us who suffer from the disease. It's a great event and we attended last year. Next week we are back to work in the rehearsal room, jamming, writing and getting ready for the May 17th show at the Dragonfly. Then on the 20th, we play at the M.A.P. show. Jerry Cantrell's band will be playing too. There is a new Camp Freddy show in Vegas on the 30th for the Hard Rock Hotel 10th anniversary party. Nine Inch Nails is playing earlier that night. I'm gonna try to get Twiggy to jump up for a song or two. I'll check in soon. Carmen says thank you to all who wished her a Happy Birthday.

Sunday
Last Saturday's CFR loaded now!
Last night's CFR is up. What a great show. We had Ozzy himself come in for an hour or so and play some unreleased cover tunes he has recorded and just chill for a while. Today is all about the R&R over here. True crime television programming, a hair cut, a nap, maybe even that pizza I always talk about.
1. Velvet revolver do it......and now audioslave have done it.......r panic channel gonna be playing any songs from their past? A Jane's addiction song?
That is highly doubtful.
2. Do you regret not finishing high school?
Not at all.
3. I read somewhere that you are into mntn. biking-true?
Untrue.
4. Just wondering ... when you get your hair cut do you have someone come to your house to do it? What brand of hair products do you use?
Yes, they do. I really do not know what they use.
5. Do you ever miss writing movie or fashion reviews? I'd enjoy reading them again
Yeah, in fact Johnny and I have been discussing starting that up again!
6. How do we get tickets for the Dragonfly show?
It really is a first come first serve thing, but there is no need to get there hours ahead of time. It's always pretty comfortable there.
7. Dave is it cool if I feature you in one of my online comics?
Sure, share the link.
8. You still on the patch yo?
Today is day two off that thing. Kind of going through it all over again.
9. Is The Panic Channel recording everything directly to hard disk? Did you use any tape at all?
All to disk. It's gonna end up digital in the end anyway...
10. Also, as a non-drug & non-alcohol consumer, is it strange to have a song of yours so closely commercially related?
I got nothin against beer, I just can't drink it! Many can enjoy a drink without abusing themselves or others... and more power to them, I just aint one of those types! I break out in hand cuffs.

Vices
1. Hey Dave, just wondering now that you have given up the 'cancer sticks' what vices do you still have?
Coffee, sex, food and music... Maybe a little porn here and there...
2. I posted about the SRV award and I was wondering what you thought about getting it?
I am totally honored. It is an amazing experience being of service to other addicts and alcoholics.
We have gone back into rehearsals this week, but today I am finishing up my final guitar parts on the Camp Freddy record with Mike Clink. The album is coming along, slowly but surely, it is hard nailing so many artists down for sessions, including me. I think we should have some tracks to play on CFR in the next couple of weeks. As for the Panic Channel, we are looking at doing a show here in LA mid-May, before the MAP awards. Probably at the Dragonfly again, but I'm not certain. As soon as I know, you will know.

Sunday
Just waking up. Last night was another edition of CFR. Always a great time. We will try to get it up for you a.s.a.p. We had a winner of the second guitar come down, Danielle, who brought me a beautiful photograph inspired by the song, Sunny Day. Thanx Danielle!
1. Dave, have you or are you thinking of having the Panic logo/picture/symbol as a tattoo somewhere on your heavenly body?
Yes. When we are finally done, I plan to. Maybe on the day of release.
2. Dave, what slight changes in your signature model are you most pleased with?
It's white.
3. Is it true that Jane's sold 'Mountain Song' to Coors? Does everything in our world have a price tag on it?
Unfortunately, as a result of our untimely departure we were stuck with tons of outstanding bills. If the band was still out there working, we would never have done it. I understand how this is upsetting to some, but at least the song will get heard by some who have never learned of the band.
4. What do you know about Perry's new band, Satellite Party? Who are the other guys in the band?
I really don't know anything other than it will probably be great.
5. Dave, Any chance Panic Channel will play the just announced Chicago Lollapalooza in July?
Highly unlikely.

Better Late Than Never
Sorry I haven't been around much, this week has been pretty uneventful with the exception of the "re-aquainting with life" stuff I have been doing. Not much to post about. Trip to the dentist, a physical exam. You know, the annual, "I hope there's nothing wrong with me" appointments. I'm happy to report, there is nothing PHYSICALLY wrong with me. Today Steve and I are gonna go do a pre-mix listen down to the tracks and see what else they need or what they may have too much of. I have also been working on the forward to my friend Pamela Des Barres's book, I'm With The Band. She is putting out a reprinting and I get to do the forward. Finally! My name will appear in that book!
P.S. 29 days off the smokes!
1. Did you and Carmen happen to catch "I want a famous face" this last week? How does she feel about young girls dramatically altering their appearance to look like her?
Yes! What a trip that was! We thought the girl was plenty pretty before the surgery. Hey man, if that's what she wants, I'm all for it, but I think the story of the girl where things went wrong was a little sad.
2. Dave- what is it that makes a man want to settle down and be in a committed relationship after years of being the single, womanizing player?
Insanity! J/K I guess when it's time it's just time. For me, I just found the right one at the right time. I think luck and timing have more to do with it than anything.

CFR Saturday
1. Dave, I think I've had two dreams about you so far, and each time I get to cuddle and not much else. It's great and all, but if you could fuck me next time, I'd really appreciate it.
I'll clear it with the wife. If she gives me the green light, it's on!
2. I was wondering how much time you spend at the gym. Also, are you pushing as heavy as you can with the weights or do you go a little easier with more repetitions?
About an hour a day for 6 days out of 7. Cardio, light weights, high reps.
3. Have you guys written alot of songs, and you just narrowed it down to those 12, or did you just write a few and perfect them?
We wrote quite a few and narrowed it down.
4. What kind of amps do you use in the studio?
Marshall JCM900, Marshall Plexi. Mesa Dual and Triple Rectifiers, Matchless, Bogner, Diezel, Fender Twin.
5. Heard about the MAP tribute show on Jerry Cantrell's site. Can you let us know if tickets will be available or where to get info?
I'll look into it. I don't think this is a public event.
Tune in tonight for another episode of CFR!

Friday
Last night was our last night in the studio for a while. Now we sit with the mixes, see if there is anything else we need to do, and try to figure out all the other stuff that is much less fun, such as business and how to get this stuff to you. We are gonna do some shows around town and kind of pick up where we left off on the live tip. We are looking to book an April date along with a date in May or two. There has even been talk of trying to hit Vegas too, primarily because Steve is so into this Wynn Hotel opening. The songs sound great and as it stands, the album tracks we are considering are:
Awake
Tea House of the Spirits
Bloody Mary
Loophole
Blue Bruises
Left to Lose
Half Hearted
Outsider
Said You'd Be
She Won't Last
Unholy Ghost
Go On
Chances are one or two of these might not make the final cut, but for now they are all tied for final approval by all of us. Ashes, Start of Darkness and Someone Else have yet to be fully realized and may come to fruition at some point, but just not right now. Have a beautiful day. I owe you all some answers for the past couple of weeks so if you have any questions, throw them at me.
