Better Late Than Never

Sorry I haven't been around much, this week has been pretty uneventful with the exception of the "re-aquainting with life" stuff I have been doing. Not much to post about. Trip to the dentist, a physical exam. You know, the annual, "I hope there's nothing wrong with me" appointments. I'm happy to report, there is nothing PHYSICALLY wrong with me. Today Steve and I are gonna go do a pre-mix listen down to the tracks and see what else they need or what they may have too much of. I have also been working on the forward to my friend Pamela Des Barres's book, I'm With The Band. She is putting out a reprinting and I get to do the forward. Finally! My name will appear in that book!

P.S. 29 days off the smokes!

1. Did you and Carmen happen to catch "I want a famous face" this last week? How does she feel about young girls dramatically altering their appearance to look like her?

Yes! What a trip that was! We thought the girl was plenty pretty before the surgery. Hey man, if that's what she wants, I'm all for it, but I think the story of the girl where things went wrong was a little sad.

2. Dave- what is it that makes a man want to settle down and be in a committed relationship after years of being the single, womanizing player?

Insanity! J/K I guess when it's time it's just time. For me, I just found the right one at the right time. I think luck and timing have more to do with it than anything.

Dave, with all the questions you get on here, you should consider having your second book be of the "self-help" nature.

Glad to hear you're at peak physical fitness matey!

Posted by: RecklessPrincess at April 7, 2005 10:49 AM

Hey Dave and everyone.

Dave, have you or are you thinking of having the Panic logo/picture/symbol as a tattoo somewhere on your heavenly body?

Posted by: Julie at April 7, 2005 10:54 AM

First indeed! I'm glad to be back.

Dave, glad to hear your doing so well! Congrats on going a month without smoking dude! Question: It seems now your totally balancing life out a lot more to allow a good amount of health and personal time coupled with work; but how hard was it to get into that sort of mode a few years ago where you learned to take care of yourself and also be able to dive into the thick of working in the music biz, what did it take?

Anyways, so I graduated college (3.4 GPA baby!). Damn, it feels good to be part of the human experience again! No more sleepless nights or overstressed days! I'm taking advantage of my time off the next few months to get my stuff in order (physically, emotionally, mentally...sort of a rough few months) before I go BACK to school in the winter. I've learned all I can about web/graphic design, now I want to hone the photography skills (something I wanted to do after high school but didn't have the money/confidence until now). On that note, I got a part time job doing photo work for an upscale real estate agency in the city that I start next week. So I'll have something to do to get out of the house, but also a lot of time to work on myself. I guess in short I feel like my life is finally starting to go in the right direction and am glad to have enough personal time to get balanced before I dive back into the thick of work (hence the question before).

How the hell is everyone doing here? I missed you people! Damn, I've been away for a while I'm sure a couple of people are going "who the hell is this guy?" Oh well. :P

Anyway, thought I'd stop in and say hi. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm off to the gym.

Peace!
- Sean

Dave,
Thought I'd share a funny story. Yesterday, I was at the gas station filling up and cleaning my windows. As I look down to grap the squeegy from the all-in-one squeegy/towel/trash can I noticed a CD sitting at the top of the trash. I pushed a towel to the side and saw a CD that read "Jane's Addiction - Trip Away" I picked it up to see if it was just the case or if there was something wrong with it. I opened it up and the CD was in perfect condition. So thanks to some dumbass in San Diego, I am now enjoy this really early live set from 87! Man, what a find! Just thought it was funny and that I'd share it with you and everyone else!

Cheers, Chris

hey dave & fam-

i miss you! i was gonna ask about the 'i want a famous face' too...that really hurts my heart to see girls feel so down & out about their looks. it's one thing to get it to feel better about yourself (i.e. if you lost a ton of weight or were in an accident and need to fix your physical condition...or if you just want a big rack...thankfully i was blessed w/ big boobs lol phew!) but yeah, obsessing to look like someone ie carmen or kelly kapowski is just upsetting to hear. i think carmen and others are good role models and sweet gals but i just hope no one hurts themselves trying to become someone else's personna.

also, carmen is hysterical is this month's blender w/ j.lo on the cover. there is some list like 'top 25 hottest rockstar girlfriends/wives' and they interview carmen, tera patrick, tawny kitaen and someone else (i can't remember) but it was very funny to hear their views :)

well talk to y'all soon :)

Congratulations to you, Sean!

Hi Dave & folks,

A coupla shout-outs:

Sean... Congrats and welcome back. I'm so happy for you!

Ellen... Welcome back to you too!

I was going to write pretty much the same thing about the "I want a famous face" ep. It's one thing to want to get plastic surgery to tweak a few things here if you really feel the need to do so, but it's another thing to want to transform yourself into someone else (even if that someone is the gorgeous Carmen Electra). I agree with Dave that she was a very pretty person to begin with.

Modern society offers too many "quick fixes" for people, which sometimes keeps them from working on what really matters... themselves and their sense of self-esteem. But I'll save that rant for another time. :)

Dave... I'm glad to hear that that lovely body is in good shape inside and out. And almost a month w/o cigs is something to be applauded. As for the mind, it's like Angel said -- what is normal anyway? LOL. I don't know a single person who I would consider 100% mentally healthy.

Everyone else... Have a lovely rest of the day. Are you as excited as I am about Hollywood Hold'em tonight? Hopefully no rain, snow, sleet, hail, phone calls, or spouses w/ remotes will get between me and my TV. :)

Love,
-Denise

DAVE-

I was reading a post on antimusic.com today and it had an artical about travis barker saying "Blink, as far as I'm concerned, is over,".

now i remember you stating this a couple months ago because they pulled out of the tsunami benefit show and you caught shit for it. its funny how they annouce it a couple months later.

I for one am not heartbroken over it because i don't care for pop-punk bands but i know you caught hell from their young fans.

As always you were right. haha

Take it easy. kiss the wife for us.

Good on ya Sean! I am about to start college (again) 'cause it took me around 20 years to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Mr Dave, I wish I had the courage to quit the cigs. I guess that is something else I must address as an adult. I have smoked for almost 25 years now.

Why do we actually have to WORK at setting a good example? I am proud of you.

Hey 6767 family,

Happy Thursday going into Friday! Yay! Dave, congratulations on stopping smoking - that is one of the best things you could ever do for yourself!!

Great find there Chris on the Jane's CD! Man are you soooo lucky! Speaking of gas stations . . . did anybody else read the part in Dave's book about the playmates who were nicknamed "The Pooper" and ??? (Oh, I can't remember the other one's nickname, darn!) - supposedly these two girls were absolutely hilarious - one of them would want to stop at places like gas stations to go no. 2 and the other one was real dingy and kept misplacing her purse - I laughed sooo hard! Funny shit man!!

Anyways, Chris, you could be that type of person who is lucky at finding rare objects! I have an Aunt who is like that. Please post more of your adventures as they happen as I think stuff like that is really very cool!

Love y'all! ;)

http://web.stargate.net/soundgarden/articles/request_10-94.shtml

Many of your songs, including new ones like "Black Hole 5un" and "Fourth of July," trade in dark, apocalyptic imagery. Does any of that flair for the dramatic come from your having grown Catholic?

Yeah, I'm sure some of it does, but you wouldn't catch it in an entire song. Like "Jesus Christ Pose" people think is an angry religious reference, but it doesn't have a thing to do with that. That song was based entirely on seeing rock stars like Perry Farrell or some top model doing these photo shoots where they were the Christ figure with this stupid-ass crown of thorns and their arms out. It became fashionable to be the sort of persecuted-deity guy. It started to get annoying that peopie were trying to associate themselves with that, because they don't even know what it is, other than a symbol that a whole bunch of weak people deify. Did you attend Catholic school when you were young? Yeah, grades one through seven. I got the whole thing. Me and my sister got kicked out of Catholic school when I was in seventh grade and she was in eighth grade. Actually, our mom pulled us out because we were about to get kicked out for the reason that we were both too inquisitive. That's kind of a testament to our mom, who allowed us enough space to kind of question shit. With a religion like that, it's not designed for anyone to question. Being young people who have a natural curiosity and half a brain, you're going to start finding inconsistencies, which there are tons of in organized religion. We both sort of made it clear in classroom situations that we didn't get it. "Explain this to me." And they couldn't, so we started creating a lot of problems.

I'm almost finished with Trust No One...great book (which my mom bought me for Christmas). I thought it was kind of wierd how I read the part about how your ex went to a psychic and she told her that your life would get really bad, then better in ways you never imagined. Funny how psychics are right sometimes. I wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavors.

Hey Dave,

Is it true that Jane's sold 'Mountain Song' to Coors? Does everything in our world have a price tag on it? Plus, Coors pretty much stands for everything Jane's wasn't about. Pretty disappointing, kind of like your new band. Sorry dude, it's just the truth.

see, that's what I love about America!! We can all have the freedom to like what we want.

umm, and this is where I publicly declare that I don't know which one is Mountain Song, and my computer's speakers aren't working, can someone call me up on my landline with the melody?

I have recently, and, mind you, when Strays came out I rushed to the store to buy it for you know, a MAN. However, I never really heard it myself, or saw the Jimmy Kimmel show that you guys played it on.

I do remember when aforementioned man was watching the DVD at my house, I was sorta paying attention, a Rainman quote comes to mind..

very sparkly.

but it was when I was with my sistah', tossing back a cold one, and feeling pretty. I played Just Because because I could, and I lost track of time and space.

Was that you on the guitar in the beginning..?
Did you do background vocals?

Thank you.

Hey Folks Today must be a Janes flashback day I just logged on to Ao-hell and the headline is Jane Says (jane fonda) Than as I sit here watchin the b-ball game Rocketz V Lakers Mountain Song starts blastin for Coors I could care less about that sellin out shit, That said Im all for keepin art sacred, but for some reason it didnt bother me the way Zep sellin caddy'z did or Aero's (Dream on) did Infact I got a rush hearin it? Maybe it'z cuz Janes didnt get the airplay that those other bandz did? Janes meant as much, if not more than those bands did to me (Well Zeppelin still topz out because where they took it Rock, country, blues, arabic, funk, etc) But for some reason it doesnt bug me like I thought it woulda? Maybe if Janes was still together it would? I find it kinda funny that Perry was all about I put Janes to rest because of sellin out and keepin itz throan alive etc. and than Its on a beer spot? But It'z all good, I kinda dig it! Anytime Janes appears it's like doing some kickin dope- RUSH!!!! (And im clean these dayz so ill take it when I get it). It would be kinda cool Dave if ya addressed the subject tho? Much Love and Blessings to you all :)

Dave,
CONGRATS on the not smoking! My mom died almost a year ago and it was due in large part to smoking...ANYWAY...I was wondering, how old were you when you started playing the guitar? I woke up the other day and my husband was walking in the door with two electric guitars, one for my son who is 5, and one for my daughter who is 11! They haven't put them down much in two days. Last night I went to check on my daughter before I went to bed and she was sleeping with hers!! Needless to say I haven't heard much T.V. mostly just them "playing" music...

Also, I watched HOLLYWOOD HOLD 'EM tonight and I was wondering if the guy with the monkey/ape was driving you as crazy as the rest of us? He was so annoying, I think he was trying way too hard to be as cool/hot as you and he fell way short....you just fucking RAWK!

Hi AGAIN....SORRY I forgot to say Dave, the ladies from THE PANIC COMMUNITY could save you the trip to the doctor by assuring you that there truly ISN'T ANYTHING wrong with you physically...HOWEVER...we/I would be happy to give you a physical, especially the one where you turn your head and cough...just a fan willing to help out wherever I can....

Hey Dave,
Finally saw the poker tournament @ Shannon Elizabeth's house on tv tonight. I can't believe you were the 1st one out, that totally sucks. I saw that the dealer was asking you about your tattoos... my brother actually asked me the other day about the skull with the fork and spoon, the same one he asked you about... What's the meaning behind that? Just curious. Have an awesome weekend Dave!

Hey Misslead-I remember that part, I think the other one was called “where’s my purse or something, she kept misplacing it.

Hollywood Hold 'em- Did anyone else catch the caption under Steve repeatedly calling him, “Steve ISAAC, Dave’s Bandmate? I didn’t really like that much, first of all, they could spell his name right, and second, they could have just put “The Panic Channel under his name too.

RE: Coors ad.

I want to put in my 2 damned cents here...
I keep reading that Jane's Addiction was "anti-commercialism" and against the establishment, etc. I was there and I don't remember Perry saying or singing, don't buy Coors beer or Nike shoes or whatever. I think that we as fans brought that attitude to the table because Jane's Addiction was so radically different than what was popular in Hollywood at that time.

While the wannabees were wearing spandex and bandana headbands over on Sunset, going to see Poison and Faster Pussycat, some of us were going to Scream to see Jane's Addiction and Love and Rockets or to Raji's to see Thelonious Monster and Celebrity Skin. Or to the Shamrock to see Pygmy Love Circus and Liquid Jesus. These were the bands that came from the punk rock scene and mutated into a twisted up version of what some asshole later called "art-metal." (Thelonious was called folk-punk! Whatever!) We just called it music. And it was art and metal and sex and drugs and punk rock idealism all colliding at full speed. And, I think, in that leftover punk idealism that we all shared, we believed that commercialism is lame and selling out, etc. We wanted to keep the scene as secret and exclusive as possible but meanwhile we were turning all of our friends onto the music. And anyone who heard or saw Jane's Addiction back then couldn't deny that something powerful was happening. It just was that meaningful.

...When Nothing's Shocking came out, we basically knew that the band wasn't "ours" anymore. They sold out seven days worth of shows at the John Anson Ford. That was a great week. Our secret was out. The touring started after that and the band blew up. When Ritual came out and the "stealin" video came out, I had friends and peers who said that the band had sold out at that moment. I didn't give a shit if they "sold-out" or not. That record rocked! Those two shows at the Palladium with Primus and the Pixies opening up were still the most unbelievably powerful shows I've ever been to. And I had seen JA dozens of times before that...(come to think of it, Perry did speak out against Birkenstock sandals but that was because some idiot hit him with it while he was singing.)

Anyway...you can say it's a sell out or whatever but to me Jane's Addiction was always about the music and the scene. That's how I will remember it. That's so far in the past that a beer commercial in 2005 is not that big a deal. I figure that the exec who picked that song probably is an exec in their late 30's who was listening to Jane's Addiction back in high school. Maybe this is his or her way or being subversive...Jane's Addiction to sell beer to a bunch of rednecks. There is a certain amount of irony there if you choose to see it.

There's another irony here, if Dave came out and said, "We just sold a Panic Channel song or a Camp Freddy cover to Coors for a million bucks!" Most everyone here would be supportive of that because it's good business. Millions of people get to hear the new band and they get paid too.

You can say what you want about selling out...it's no fun to be a struggling musician or other kind of artist. Stressing over rent, no money for beer or smokes, leeching on friends, eating Top Ramen or Mac and cheese every night. When you know you have talent and no one gives a shit, that's a very lonely feeling. Can you imagine how it must feel when they put that check in your hand or new gear or you get in that limo for the first time. It's got to feel good. Validation.

For me, Dave-o, I hope you got a shitpile fo dough for a song you first played almost twenty years ago.

Rock on brother!
Steve-o

Hi jezzi,

You should have kept that 8 track! You could have sold it for big bucks on ebay...if it was still working, that is! Someone just got $46.00 for old KOOL AID t-shirt the other night.

You'd be surprised what people are collecting these days. Some people's junk is another's treasure.

Nostalgia for the 70s & 80s is very popular these days! lol

Vintage t-shirts, especially rock t-shirts, have been selling for $50.00 & up! I'm a saver, so I have loads of vintage items. I might start unloading some of it on ebay.

btw.....Do you realise that some people today have no clue WHAT an 8 track is, let alone a Walkman??? That's too funny......and scary!

Hi Steve,

Great post! We've ALL got to eat & pay the bills!

When are you coming intro NYC again?? Perhaps the East Coast 'Dave/PC contingent' can meet up with you!? There's actually a lot of us here, though some of us don't post as much as we used to.

take care,
itanja

PS...Hi Sean, Mike from NYC, Ellen & Emily....hope you guys are all well & happy.

Posted by: itanja at April 8, 2005 08:39 AM

ok, one more thing, then I am letting the cherubs in!!
Our family had a yard sale years ago, when we were moving my mom. My brother was selling his Atari...ah, the tears of nostalgia that were running down the faces of middle aged men...Atari, complete with PONG...
Don't worry I still have my extensive 80s vinyl collection...
Itanja, always look forward to reading your posts!
Have a great day, all you East Coasters!!

Hi Dave & friends,

Steve - What a great, thought-provoking post. You make some excellent points.

Sue - I caught that typo of Steve I's name too. I was quite surprised.(11 years of writing and editing does that to a person. LOL. Maybe we should work for E!)

So I saw the poker game last night. It's a shame that Dave didn't win, but I'm glad the money went to the girl who seemed to really need it. If nothing else, the show provided great eye candy. Dave looked luscious, Steve looked cute too (and what a sweet guy.) And I was very happy to see Eric Balfour too. (The guy with the stuffed monkey.) Though he's no Dave, there's something very sexy about him, IMO. (What can I say... I love guidos! LOL)

And WHAT exactly is a "Hawaiian" pizza?! Is that a west-coast thing?

Be well, everyone.

Love,
-Denise

PS. Mercury Retrograde is almost over. Yay!!

Guess I should email you.....get THIS off the blog...

itanja, sometimes i feel like i'm the last person on earth realy using my walkman...i tape my cds....

..and i'm 19! when i bought the thing some years ago it was completely normal to buy a walkman..weird how fast these things go

i must admit, i am a bit slow...two days ago i bought my first mobile

but now i'm all up to date i think..except for the walkman

Posted by: Emma at April 8, 2005 09:09 AM

Hi Emma,

I still use my Walkman & my Discman. I also tape my CDS.

I used to tape 'The Howard Stern Show' when he first came to K-Rock in NYC, this was before his show was syndicated...some of those interviews with my fave musicians are classics! I would tape the show, then listen to the earlier portions at work.

I have a MacG4 without a burner! My comp does have a built in ZIP drive. loool Yeah, I know......I need to upgrade!

Re iPODS....Won't it cost about $10,000 to fill an iPOD?? Doesn't it hold 10,000 tunes? At a $1.00 per download.... that's alotta money! Even if it held only 2,000 songs, that's $2,000. WOW!

At least cassette tapes & VHS tapes are pretty cheap these days! As are blank CDs! As long as I get to hear the MUSIC, I could care less what format I'm using.

take care,

Good morning everyone.

First things first:
Sean: happy for you, have a beer for me.
Steve:love your venting story, word up my brotha
Chris:Congrats on your find, that person was a dumbass to get rid of that cd.

Ok, hello everyone. Hope all is well. Slow here at work. So I had time to read some posts. Hope everyone is happy and well. I am. No big news here.

Just happy to hear that all is well with you Mr. Sexy Navarro. Take care and have a fun weekend. The same goes for all of you 67 familia.

Much Love, Crecencia

itanja,

Thanks for the earlier comments.

We are trying to get back to the city in July for an extended weekend. Would like to catch a Yankee game. Maybe an opera in the park. Maybe a cool show. Whatever. It'll be great no matter what. I'll keep ya posted.

Ipods can hold all of the CD's that you may have burned or purchased over the years. Plus you can download most albums for about ten bucks online which is a lot better than twenty bucks at Tower. So it's not really a buck per song. You could by them like that but that is really expensive. I bought mine figuring that over next ten years, I could fill it. After uploading half of my CD's, I still have about 8500 songs worth of space. So I figure as long as the technology doesn't change, I made a good investment. My whole music collection(minus the 1000 records on vinyl) goes with me wherever I go. So that's pretty cool.

Anyway, have a great day!

HEY JEZ! ROCK ON!

All this talk about Janes is too funny, although i've always been a fan, i've never, untill this past year, been one to buy alot of cd's, but I just got my 1st JA cd (Ritual) and ordered two more, I should have them when I get home from work today! Yipee! They are incredible! SO, cheers to me for finally getting off my lazy ass and getting some good tunes for the road trips I love to take!!!
I was gonna comment on the "Dave's Bandmate" title myself, they should be ashamed of themselves! Still a good show, I do, however, seem to find Shannon a little annoying. But that's just me, girly girls annoy me!

Have a great weekend everyone!

"There was NO good music from the 80's, with very very few exceptions, the 80's was a lost decade in music.......a big black hole................"

Those exceptions are some of my favorite songs.

As for the cheesier ones, what can I say... That was the music of my childhood and adolescence. Other than the jazz my parents listened to and the classical music that I played on the piano, it was pretty-much all I knew. So you can understand why music from that era holds a special place in my heart.

Respectfully yours,
-Denise

Hey "tasteinMusic"

NO! I am not 18. YOu must be crazy. There is GREAT music from the 80's, alternative of course. Bands like Duran, The B-52's, U2, The Talking Heads, The Clash, Echo and the Bunnymen, Love & Rockets. (Even the cheese ones are better than most of today's music)I could go on forever. But, that is cool if you don;t like 80's music. That's what this place is for, to express.

As long as you don't like 80's fashion, then this relationship has a chance. Just Kidding.
Just had to add my 2 cents. Thanks.

Hey Dave,
2 quick questions:
what do you know about Perry's new band, Satellite Party? Who are the other guys in the band?
Do you know where/what Casey Nicoli is up to these days?
Thanks,

Rob, great questions.

I would like to know myself.

Is any one going to check out Perry DJ-ing @ Cochella this year?

Had a tour for two weeks... funny how time flies... had a concert in bratislava, in slovakia with finnish chamber orchestra and it was awesome... now drinking absinthe, the local czech/slovakian drink... I am just here... It's great that Dave reads all of this shitt... he probaply is getting wasted because of this typing... ...
Don't try absinthe... well... ... yeah... see ya later .. 'till I got something to say ... This is what tour is all about... or is it? ... fuck... goodnight

"There was NO good music from the 80's, with very very few exceptions, the 80's was a lost decade in music.......a big black hole................"

WHAT are you smokin' dude or dudette?? looooool

You are kidding.....?!!?

There was so much FANTASTIC music to come out in the 80's, though most of it was from Britain! Here's a short list.....

Hmm, let's see......The Cure, The Clash, Elvis Costello, British ska (The Beat, The Specials), U2, most of the music on Factory records.....Joy Division, New Order....Squeeze......Alison Moyet (the fabulous singer from Yaz).....Annabella Lwin....XTC.....Jools Holland......etc

From the US.....The B-52's, The Ramones, The Talking Heads,.....etc

Oh yes....please don't 'nickel & dime' that some of those musicians hit the scene in the 1970's (some of them DID).....

FACT is....most of the above are still producing valid music today!

Some of the listed musicians are actually entering their THIRD decade in the music business and are still going strong!

Please, do your research before you label an ENTIRE decade of music: "...a big black hole..."

You nailed that steve-o As I read yer post I almost smelled those times, and yer right, The whole sell out thing was because we wanted to keep them for ourselves Like we were part of something so real and fresh probably how the first hippies felt before everyone moved to the haight and ruined what they had going on with the whole Bohemian, Hungarian, lets get back to real, or the basics, and after all those hair bands with lipstick tricks and hairspray fix something raw without restrictions was what the doctor ordered So Cash in now honey :)

Dave, with all this talk about Perry's new band(Satellite Party?) it got me thinking. A few weeks ago when you guys were in the studio, you mentioned that during a break in recording, you guys were watching "Some kind of monster" and Nuno(Bettencourt) stopped by the studio. Did he mention anything at that point about this project with Perry? or do you think that he was doing some sort of re-con on you guys? I may sound paranoid...but as you once said "Trust No One!"

Be safe,be happy be awesome(as always)

Good day everyone...its opening day for fishin season here in CT. Gotta work although. Got a nice twenty dollar tip at the hotel from a rich trust-fund junky dude whos a "close talker." He is staying at a really nice hotel for 90 days and not on business? Im jealous, part of me wants to be holed up in a really nice hotel and be a feign with my massive heap of money! He just comes in with his "Skeletor" like friends sweating and not all the employees have noticed the tracks covering everybodys hands and the perfusive sweating. All the urban workers seem to see it? I wonder if the dudes in a new band! Maybe its pro musician Doug Slam? Dave...you get up with that dude yet. Paul the gift says check em out!
Hmmmm....Doug man... you got a website?

I dunno? Ya know?

Any Sopranos fans out there? Each season on dvd new is like 90 bucks, but on ebay ive seen all four seasons in a box set...many under 40 bucks! Ive never bought off ebay. If someone familiar could give me a tip about these disk or even spend a minute to check out if its worth buying.

Boots-Watch out for the DVD's from Asian countries that are super cheap if you want them just like we have in America. Some are bootlegs, some have subtitles, the boxes are oten different. I bought one and aside from the box being a bit different, the movie itself was fine. Just depends on your preference I guess.

Denise-Hawaiian pizza has onions, pineapple, and ham. It is my absolute favorite.

Dave-I am so happy for you. And proud, proud, proud. You deserve to eat TWO pizzas on Sunday. And a cake. :)

Hi everyone!

Hey Jenniffer... Thanks for telling me what a Hawaiian Pizza is. I can't imagine combining pineapple with sauce and cheese...(I don't even think it's an option out here...) but I'll have to try it one day. :)

As usual, can't listen to CFR... I'm listening to the radio here, and coincidentally, they're talking about this VERY topic! Weird!! (enter Twilight Zone theme.) LOL

Dave, I know your guitar strap was custom made but I wanted to know if you had made at Louis Vuitton or some where else. Also do you know if they would make for anyone or did they just make it for you because of you being a celebrity, and would you mind if they did make one for someone else. Thanks Jim

Dave, thanks for the advice last night, what a straightforward answer! I will never look at a barbershop pole quite the same again...and I will remember to always take my teeth out first.

Question, did you catch a movie last night, was it Sin City? Pretty amazing flick! Truly like watching a graphic novel come to life, Richard Rodriguez never ceases to amaze me.

Hello family!

Posted by: jezebel at April 10, 2005 06:51 AM

Finally! Saw the whole Hollywood Hold 'Em and Dave - you were the best thing about that episode. Not that Steve wasn't funny and charming, but you just have so much charisma!

Steve, wonderful post. You know, I have read articles on other entertainers and just because they are celebrities, it doesn't mean they don't have money problems. A very good friend of mine is an award winning actress - she has CD's out and been associated with some big name productions - yet she did an intimate setting as a fundraiser and she said for every role she gets, there are 50 she doesn't get. When she was told she was up for a major award, she didn't have a dress to wear to the event. So she let down her pride and began calling designers to see if someone would want to dress her for the big night. She finally found someone who said yes. When she won, she thanked that person first for dressing her. She didn't have the money to buy a dress. I see nothing wrong with getting your name out there and either stirring up interest - as this ad seems to have done - or making money on it if there is money to be made. Admit it, if you could sell something of yourself and be nationally recognized, wouldn't you? I keep trying to sell a short story or a book - but it was the letter to a national magazine about Dave that got published that gave me a high!

Gotta to listen to some of CFR last night. Wish I could have called in ~ LOL ~ I would have known something to say. When I am speechless, you know there is something wrong!

Love ya Dave!

Love to the Family!

Always,
me

Denise-thanks for the info. How bout the Cartier wood framed glass's on ebay. Ive heard they are like $1600 at the mall and are on ebay around $100. Had an opportunity to buy at $200 through work but couldnt afford. These are for style not perscription I guess. I had never heard, but they are popular in the city I guess? I just always wanted glasses with wood frames! HElp a brotha out....I more like a brother than a brotha to be more honest. Anyone have these glasses for me? Oh-I found a 5.5 hp motor that would tool me round the lake for $250. Now just need the boat and the backpacker guitar, and I have a beautiful atmosphere to write some music!

Also on pizza...some places put canadien bacon which I think is better than ham and some even use bacon which is a different pie altogether. New Haven is where Pizza was first brought to America and famous for places like Modern, Sallys, and Pepes. One pie that never caught on that is so so so diggity is mashed potato, bacon and onion. A restaraunt callled Bar on Crown makes this pie to perfection on a thin crust with sauce and cheese. The mashed potato are added before placed in the oven. Its important to realize the mshd-potato is scooped throughout the pie in half spoon fulls along with the bacon and onion. SO GOOD and one of the only secrets from the East Id love to share and needs to be unleashed in California. New Haven was the home of the hamburger which is quite a quirky story and can be found on the web. The place is called Lou's Lunch and is also on Crown street. Check it out if you love hamburgers..and the story will unfold of why they wont serve you ketchup and if you ask will be asked to leave! Kind like soup Nazi on Seinfeld!

Is it Sunday Question????????????????

My submission would be; have you ever been moved/influenced/impressed by a fans musical/artistic talent. I know some art does that for me by people who havent made it! Have you ever jammed with a fan?....or helped them in the industry? And of course...hear my demo yet?
