25 Gallons

Captcarm10104232257ms_benefit_gala_carm1I finally saw the commercial with the Jane's song in it. The ironic thing is that they threw more money at that 30 second spot then any label has ever thrown at a full Jane's video. Go figure.

1. Is there was anything you regretted not doing in regard to your wedding? Was there anything you would have done without now that you look back?

Not really. Everyone always puts so much pressure on the plans and the whole ordeal that they tend to forget what the day is all about. Like, now looking back on it, I have no idea what the napkins looked like or what songs were played, but I DO remember marrying my wife because I love her. That is enough for me.

2. Who is/was your favorite Beetle?

John Lennon.

3. Will you guys be releasing the CFR record in the UK?

I hope so, if not we will make it available online download style.

4. When u die, what tattoo should I get in your memory? And where is it gonna go?

I'd say simple. Like a life sized portrait back piece.

5. How do you avoid the perils of junk food when you're away from home all day working? Do you take your lunch to work with you?

In fact, yes I do. I usually bring a salad along to the rehearsal studio with me to avoid all the junk they sell in the area.

6. Does Carmen like your hair longer or when it was short?

She says long.

7. Is the April 30th Camp Freddy Vegas show open to the public?

I don't know. That would be a great question for the Hard Rock Hotel. We are playing at a club called Body English around 1:30 a.m.

8. Who picks out the songs that get played on CFR? Is it strictly you and Billy, or do the heads at Indie 103 get involved as well?

For CFR, we bring in our own playlist for the show. That is why we can't take requests, if we didn't bring it, we don't have it.

9. I was wondering if you still have to fight the tendency to isolate yourself, or was that strictly addiction related?

I go through spells where I do like to isolate for sure. One of my favorite things to do is to get a box set of DVDs and spend an entire day watching a whole season of a program. I'd say I am addictive when it comes to isolation and socialization. I isolate so I can energize for social interaction.

10. Did you manage to catch the Doheny gig last night?

No. We had a little house party last night for Carmen's Birthday. Billy and his wife Jennifer were missed, as I am sure, were we.

Dave, I was just reading the new Filter magazine with the section on "Art Rock" and wondered if you have read it and what you think, especially the spot with Eric Avery?

End transmission.

So whenever you manage to get up here, I hope you'll pay me a visit.

We're streaming online now, so maybe you can tune in when you're having your morning caffeine and email fix...my shift starts at 9am.

Hi Dave,

I came across your book on the internet the other day, ended up buying it and reading it all in one day, which is strange for me because I never read. Just wanted to say I really respect you for being able to turn your life around, and also for allowing people to connect with you in your darkest time. Also it gave me a better out look on love, and changed some opions of mine, that I have used to protect myself from getting hurt again. Thanks for that.
I would like to wish you all the luck in the future and hope you have a long and beautiful relationship with your obvious soulmate Carmen.

Thank you for you time

2. The fishnets that you wore to accompany the plaid on the runway, your private collection? They were HOT!!!!

3. Did you miss me? Was I gone?

Dave - Thanks for answering my question about the CFR playlist. I didn't realize that it was quite that hands-on for you guys... Very cool.

For those of you talking about isolation, I know how it is. Sometimes you just need to be alone to recharge your batteries. I love my alone-time. But I think of it as solitude rather than isolation.

I hope everyone is well this Monday morning. I'm not fully awake yet, so I don't have much more to say at the moment... Just sending love and cheer and good wishes to all.

Those of us who watch way too much sports on television are getting bombarded with the Coors Lite ad. I hope it was 7 figures.

coroporate lesson #1...

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her
shower, when the doorbell rings.

The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbour. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel."

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 dollars and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.
When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?"
"It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies.
"Great!" the husband says, "did he say anything about the $800 he owes
me?"

Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Hey Dave and Everyone,
I also know how it is to isolate yourself. I isolate myself way too much. I like being alone, but sometimes it's really not fun. At school I'm like the quiet one, the one who does'nt talk much. Sometimes I wish I could talk just as much as everyone else does, but I don't know what to say.
Hope everybody's doing alright. Have a great day!

THE MOST FUNCTIONAL ENGLISH WORD

Well, it's shit... that's right, shit!
Shit may just be the most functional word in the English language.

Consider:
You can get shit-faced, Be shit-out-of-luck, Or have shit for brains.
With a little effort, you can get your shit together, find a place for your shit, or be asked to shit or get off the pot.

You can smoke shit, buy shit, sell shit, lose shit, find shit, forget shit,
and tell others to eat shit.

Some people know their shit, while others can't tell the difference
between shit and shineola.
There are lucky shits, dumb shits, and crazy shits. There is bull shit,
horse shit, and chicken shit.
You can throw shit, sling shit, catch shit, shoot the shit,
or duck when the shit hits the fan.

You can give a shit or serve shit on a shingle.
You can find yourself in deep shit or be happier than a pig in shit.

Some days are colder than shit, some days are hotter than shit,
and some days are just plain shitty.
Some music sounds like shit, things can look like shit, and there are times when you feel like shit.

You can have too much shit, not enough shit, the right shit, the wrong shit or a lot of weird shit.
You can carry shit, have a mountain of shit, or find yourself up shit creek without a paddle.
Sometimes everything you touch turns to shit and other times you fall in a bucket of shit and come out smelling like a rose.
When you stop to consider all the facts, it's the basic building block of the English language.
And remember, once you know your shit, you don't need to know anything else!!
You could pass this along, if you give a shit; or not do so if you don't give a shit!
Well Shit, it's time for me to go. Just wanted you to know that I do give a shit and hope you had a nice day, without a bunch of shit. But, if you happened to catch a load of shit from some shit-head..........
Well, Shit Happens!!!

Dave, thanks for answering my question. I'm around your age (I'll be 40 in Dec) and I tend to want to hole up more now than I did when I was younger. Don't know if it's age or what. I guess it's partly that. I also think that it's because I'm more settled into who I am and maybe a bit less tolerant due to that. I just prefer to be alone rather than be around people I feel alone with. So if there's no one I really dig to hang out with, I'm more than happy to stay home. Anyway, thanks again. xo

Is anyone else totally into the Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie gossip? I'm eating that shit up! Now THAT is a couple that could actually rival Dave and Carm for hotness (and coolness!). Not many could. In fact, I can't think of anyone else that even comes close! I like Jennifer Anniston and I feel sad for her (it's gotta be hard even if she DID want the divorce), but I can't help it, I love the idea of Brad and Ang together. Fucking hotness x 10!!!

Matt P asked:
"Alright dawg, which 5 dead musicians (if they were alive, not their corpses) would you most like to jam with Camp Freddy?"

I bet he replies something like:
Jimi Hendrix
Jimmy Page
Johnny Ramone
Jerry Garcia
Frank Zappa

It's amazing how so many excellent guitarists from the past are still with us. It's time I got travelling to meet and thank them before the pop their clogs.
I found this useful when compiling such a list...

Wow...Maybe there's something in the air. I posted a journal entry last night about how sometimes I just need to be alone - especially after a trip or situations where I've been around a ton of people & I'm just wiped out from it. A friend replied to me saying that she thought she was the only one who went through that. (That's not to say that I'm a hermit or anything like that...I just need some "peace" sometimes.)
Happy Belated to the Mrs.!!
take care :)

Or, are there actual tickets that are going to be available to buy through the club or through ticketmaster or some other ticket place? If you could post some kind of infor regarding that it would be so AWESOME!!!! I was really looking forward to coming and seein the band... So PLEASE let me know where I need to turn to get in! Thanks Dave, cute new pics of you and Carmen!

So there was all that talk about how evil coors is and all that upset from people to whom your music still means ahelluvalot to and all the irony, dont forget the irony, and you deleted posts and ignored and nodded your head as you do to try your very hardest to seem open minded and after all that the only thing that springs into your overly coiffed head when you see the add is "man I wish I'd advertisd coors when we were still a band so I coulda had more money for more videos for fireworks and hairspray and better lighting to highlight how pert my breasts are and to airbrush my collegen wife some more and ooooooo for more mtv exposure so that the kids would buy more of my music and theyd drink more booze and theyd buy and drink and buy and drink and I would be rich and sober"
Of course im reading between the lines but really, even for you, this is shallow.

Deep breaths Sweetie...in and out...(it's ok if the bong is involved in those deep-breathing exercises).

Now...feel better??? No need to let her make you angry Creepy...that's just what she's hoping for.

Have a beautiful day Dave and family :D

you know, if I didn't know any better, I would say Molly was a psuedonym for someone who has closer ties to Jane's Addiction than just being a fan....

Man that Coors drama was sooooo like two blog entries ago. Let it go people. Fact is its THEIR music to do what they want with.

At least they're not supporting some company thats got a sweatshop or sex slave corp in SE Asia or something.

Basically the way I see it is unless you're like my friend Tadji that I met in NE Thailand at a monestary and are a monk you're a sell out because you're a slave to the wage.

Not for what I wanted to post

Dave you sly devil getting your nipple rings tugged by the access hollywood hostess all while reppin for a good cause.

Rock on to you, Carm and the 67 familia.

Peace, love and good vibeage

JJ

What are your most challenging songs to play live with JA RHCP and now with TPC?

If you had to pick one from each, which ones are your favorites to play from your bands?

Thanks...

I tend to isolate myself from time to time too; it's like getting your head straight with time to just think about things without any interruption [or do as you please, like watching an entire season of an episode].
Sometimes this merits others being confused or taking things personally, but for the most part people understand.
I'm glad you went 43 days without smoking, by the way. After quitting for 6 months, myself, I started up again. Don't beat yourself up over it though, after smoking for so long and it being part of life [smoking in the morning, after you eat, when you're stressed, when you're excited, after sex, etc.] it's hard to throw it down FOR GOOD.
I know you can do it, eventually, though =D
<3 xo!

Molly, your interpretation of Dave's post shows you've reached new levels of desperation. I think you're just jealous of all the attention Creepy's been getting around here. Poor thing. *pats Molly's back*

hey dave thought you might enjoy this. someone who recently saw garbagbe live said this

"last night i saw Garbage in T.O. and Shirley was razzing Eric saying she has to haze the new guy!! he didn't know how to play You Look So Fine!
it was his birthday and Shirley got a guy in a chicken suit to come on stage with a cake and she (and everyone in the building) sang Happy Birthday to him!!
and the band came back for an encore where she bugged him some more!!

he was good, and he took Shirely's harrassment nicely!!"

Was it Bill Hicks who said that if you do an advert you give up all artistic credibility?
