New CFR

CfrrLast night's show is now posted. You may have to empty your browser's cache in order to hear the new file. Steve and I played our new song, Blue Bruises and had a blast chatting with our guest Madchen Amick. She is even lovelier in person. The rest of the Freddy boys took part in a fashion show for Rock & Republic and jammed on stage as scantily clad models threaded themselves in and out of the set. I spoke to Billy this morning and he reports an awesome time and was joined by such guests as Mark McGrath, Steve Jones, Billy Duffy, Jerry Cantrell, Josh Todd and Cypress' Sen Dog & Be Real. Perkins filled in for Sorum. (I still maintain that Isaacs and I had the better deal.) Today I am gonna just do some light reading (I'm With The Band, by my friend, Pamela Des Barres.), some gym time and some quality "wife time" at home. Tomorrow we head back into the studio for week two of our final recording month.

Thanks for posting the CF shows! I've been working on the same feature for 4 weeks now and there's no end in sight... haven't caught a show in what seems like forever! Glad I have a chance to catch up on my day off.

dave, when working on Strays, what was the first song off that album that you guys worked on to get back into the swing on things?

kyle

Posted by: Kyle at March 20, 2005 05:18 AM

Dave

I was wondering first on Decon I guess you used PRS guitars to record that album?? Also I thought I heard some backing vocals on that album and I was wondering if that was you (like I think) or Eric just harmonizing??

Posted by: Juanjay at March 20, 2005 06:00 AM

A couple of questions about recording to a click. Steve mentioned that you used it on "Teahouse of the Spirits"-is it because there are stops or breaks in it that required it, or is it just to get an overall tighter recording or both? Do you recommend recording to a click for beginning bands? And isn't using a click a badass testimony to the talents of Stephen Perkins? Most drummers don't embrace it.

Hey Dave,

CFR was great last night!! Thanks for putting my on the air when I called in! I still fell like I'm on a cloud being on the air on the same program that had Madchen Amick and Steve Jones calling in!

You know what would REALLY be cool Dave? If I could get the radio feeds a a file so I could put them on my iPod and listen to them at work....

And that goes with the rest of your flash multimedia.

Posted by: Zimphire at March 20, 2005 10:01 AM

Dave! I LOVE Blue Bruises
that BETTER be your first single!
but then again, I am the guy that keeps asking you to Jam with Tom Waits at a Camp Freddy show, so I may not exactly be the George Soros of pop sensibility know-how...

ANYWAY... very very very nice

Dave, do you ever have trouble sleeping because you have music going through your head? Happens to me all the time.

Ahh, Yeah, Reckless Princess, you and me both...Hoohah...however, I WAS listening to it in the background, so I got to hear Blue Bruises and Camp Teddy..at least, I THINK that's what I was listening to.

Priorities, baby, priorities, when there is a good looking naked man in my house, I kinda get distracted..
ok, back on track

Hello Dave, beautiful sound coming from that Yamaha, more please!!
and when, when, when, oh when, can we see TPC live again?
love to you and yours from me and mine

^5 to my girl Jez!! Gots to love a nekkid man 'round the house!! Get him to wash dishes that way. Instant O.

Dave, hope you and the rest of our family here have a peaceful, relaxing Sunday. That's what's up at our house too. Life is good.

Love to all,

Dave, now you're off the smokes, I'm curious as to just how you manage to keep the weight off. Obviously back in the day certain lifestyle choices and the lack of a strong dietary intake that goes with that would have done the job, but since kicking the drugs, booze, and now cigarettes, are you eating super-healthy or does your gym routine like totally kick ass!? ;) Cheers.

I just discovered the archive 6767.com site a couple of days ago, and I wanted to thank you for it. It's nice to see the old site since I was a relative virgin to good music and the internet, because I was only 10/11 years old when all of that was going on.
Blue Bruises sounded awesome, by the way. I can't wait for the album.

Dave,

Well done on "Blue Bruises". So now that you have spent some time with Madchen, has she moved towards "Rene" status? and good flow with you Steve, you guys did a bang up job! (no offense to Billy, will be looking forward to hearing him next week)

Cheers,

I've been deathly ill lately, so this is the first I've heard your quitting smoking!
I'm so proud!
If you just can't stand it, and it feels like you need a cigarette or commit homicide, wet your finger and tap it in baking soda. It fixes your ph balance and makes your body think you've had a cig.
Soon the only thing you'll be doing for fun is parking illeagally. ;-)

Hello all 67er's...

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Dave I think you guys will be HUGE! Keep up the hard work. I will be recording my vocals tonight for our project - wish me luck! I have to focus on the music - my man left me so now I'm flying solo! He gave me a choice, either music or him and I guess you can see what direction I have gone in. The pain lingers on...

Do you feel the same way?

Posted by: Rich at March 20, 2005 05:35 PM

Aaron don't wait for a revue, just go get the book. It is very well written, and gives a good insight on the times, and lives of the musicians during that period.

I've read it a few times.

I'm loving your book, Dave. Just wanted to let you know that you have great strength to live through what you have, then share it with the world.

Plus, MADCHEN AMICK IS AMAZING! She's one of my top five favorites and I was a huge Twin Peaks fan back in the day. Good to see someone else appreciates her talents.

Hi Dave & gang,

How is everyone this lovely afternoon? I hope you're well.

Just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed listening CFR on PCR yesterday. (Don't you love acronyms?) It was great to learn about Steve I's background and experiences. The music rocked, the new song sounded awesome, and the interview w/ Madchen was very interesting.

As if that weren't enough, I caught a repeat of Dave kicking butt and almost winning on Celebrity Poker Showdown (or "CPS"). Not a bad way to spend a Sunday at all!

Thanks,

Crecencia..thanks for the email, I miss you too, I couldn't go up north, cause that son of mine doesn't have spring break when I do, and I am committed to taking him driving every afternoon, believe me, I'm bummed

DAVE!!! Hey, how's everything going? Stop by the Panic Community if you guys get bored and play Thunderbirds are Go with us!!! That goes for you too, Perk!!

I am off to Hollywood tomorrow to see Savion Glover's new show "improvography" he is the most amazing dancer, at the Kodak Theatre, and on Thursday, it's Brentwood to see Eric Idle, he just wrote a book called Greedy Bastard's Diary, which reads like a blog, so DAVE, book number two, I predict for you, will be the highlights of your blog, along with Coffee Table size pics, I'll only want 20 percent for the concept...

I was just wondering do you get many Irish fans? Seeing as Im Irish myself. I think your fucking awesome guitar player and quite an inspiration to myself to make real music. Could you tab out "hungry" off you solo album or at least the chords cause Ive been dying to play it and nobody has it tabbed out on the internet, That would be cool, Cheers dude!

Dave...is there any certain song from your past that, when you hear it today you feel that exact same feeling as when you first heard it? If yes, what song was it?

Sweetmelis....Fresno gets a bad rap because it's hot here during the summer and we have very bad air...other than that, not sure why. Personally, I am very happy here but, I'm sure that is because I've never lived anywhere else and all my friends and close family are here...you know, kind of a "home is where the heart is" type of thing. I also think we have a high crime rate here...not sure :D

Great job with the smokes! Anyway, I was wondering about Bob Ezrin today and why you guys decided to have him produce Strays when he was saying things like hating the way Ritual sounded and wanting to change Jane's from an art-metal band to a more classic rock band. Did that turn you guys off or was that the direction you wanted to go in with Strays? If so, why?
Hope you get a chance to answer this one!
Thanks

Anyone here hear or dig on "THE SAMPLES"? Their singer, Sean took the time to inspire me during some really low points in my life. They are an incredible band who "Does things themselves" and have punk ethos. The music is diggity and fun to see live, check out www.thesamples.com They are touring this spring and are the type of guys who may end up crashing on your couch cause they have chosen paths based on a "what is right" belief like donations to charity/environment. GOOD PEOPLE/WORTH CHECKING OUT AND SUPPORTING AT A SHOW OR AT THE RECORD STORE.

Its just boot....not a salesman...just wanted to let everyone know about a great band who continue to be undiscovered because of a lack of greed. Would you chop a tree to make a nickel, or spend a nickel trying to stop the distruction of a tree?
