Monday 4

Shannon_daveThis morning Riss and I are going down to West Coast Customs to check in on the Grand National. I'm gonna be picking out my rims and all that good fun. It's been in the shop for two months so I'm psyched to see it. I'm thinking that bitch should be done relatively soon, so when it is I'll put up some pictures. Later we go back into the rehearsal room to finish up our final week of preproduction for the record.

Here are the remainig four from the Sunday Ten:

7. In your JCM900 what kind of power valve do you have?

EL34 sounds about right.

8. Have you guys tried laying down drums for a song and then completing it with the rest of the tracks before moving on to another song?

Yeah, that is a lot of fun, but it gets expensive. We do all our basics together and then move on so we don't have to continue paying for a studio with a big drum room for overdubs.

9. Did you have any legal trouble from the makers of The Italian Job for using the name Camp Freddy, or did they even confront any of you about it?

So far, so good!

10. Dave, I heard Steve Vai talking about making a definitive statement on his guitar, before age plays into his physical limitation on his instrument. Does that ever cross your mind?

Never, but I think Steve's playing is a lot more physically demanding than mine.

Can't wait to see the pictures, Dave!

can't wait to see the grand national...send pics soon.

good point re: vai and his technique vs. yours...hell if the blues legends can go on into their 80's why can't you?

and did carmen make it back all right from down under? i saw her getting manhandled in some pics by anna nicole smith.

much love.

Almost First?

Dave, Just listened to Saturday's CFR show. good to hear you again. You guys were great. However, I must disagree with your assessment of the movie "Saw". Personally I thought it was hokey and the acting bad. I ended up laughing at it. Not even close to "Seven".

Have a good week all!

Hey Dave,

I'm currently addicted to the "Making of Alien" which is the new Strapping Young Lad album. It shows all the background stuff that goes into making a record. Are you guys documenting the process of this new disc at all? I know at least for musicans like myself insight into the process is always helpful.

btw - for anyone interested the documentary I'm taking about can be seen at http://www.centurymedia.de/syl/documentary.aspx

Have a great day all

awesome getting the Grand National back...perhaps they should've filmed it and done a celebrity pimp my ride? that would've been awesome.

not much else to say...wishing everyone a happy monday (well as happy as it can be)...much love!

Hey Dave! WOW, that sounds so exciting that your GN is almost complete! I know how exciting that can be! My husband is personally restoring a '79 Z28 for me! It's no where near done but someday soon I hope! It's just a weekend project so that's why it's taking so long. But knowing he's doing it himself is part of the reward I guess! Just hope my walker can fit in that tiny backseat! LOL!!!!

Posted by: Tammi at March 7, 2005 11:22 AM

There you go! You can host season two of pimp my ride hahaha Dave I'm telling you bro, kill the fittest jeans n t's, go with a bright baby blue track suit and shave your head. JOKES!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Pistol Pete at March 7, 2005 11:26 AM

Its weird how you can just never watch an episode of Pimp my ride twice --- its actually physically immpossible......................................

Anyways................................
it was kinda on a movie theme ther for a seccond so
has anyone seen Bruce Willi's new movie "Hostage"
yet (it out in the states yet?) any good?..............................

Yeah Dave, Mars Volta suck... fo'real, B.

it's funny that you said "it's music you'd hear inside your head if you were going insane." - that's EXACTLY what I said when I first heard them.

can you believe that my friends think Mars Volta are the next Zeppelin???

What's going on Dave? WHAT the FUCK is going ON!?!?

Posted by: Max at March 7, 2005 11:43 AM

Heyy, Thanks D from Sj ( is that what it is? )for answering my Y100 question. Actually I thought it was a rock station not like hip-hop or something, but whatever. Dave, cant wait to see what your GN looks like after its done. I saw it on the Funkmaster Flex show, I also taped it :-D... so yeah it was awesome. Well guys I hope you all have a better day then I do... having your money stolen (( i think )) at school in stupid cosmo class isnt cool at all, and it deff. wont be cool if my mom finds out and then your freak'n boyfriend saying shit when you're some-what upset about it and then you get mad and "slam" his car door and he starts bitching. UUGHHH whatever, I cant take this anymore. Anyways, have a nice dayy!

Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at March 7, 2005 11:50 AM

Tammi....I wrote my first rap about a Z28 when I was 11, Here it goes cause Im still bored here at work, this is for the Z28 lovers "P

It's a Z28 It's the car of your dreams,
it moves down the alley..like you've never seen,
you open the door..slide in the seat,
turn the key..and "whew" down the street.

Your friends say "oooo" your friends say "ahhhh",
your friends "tell me where you got that car"

I said "I got the machine from a guy named Gene",
he said it would last if I kept it real clean"

I was cruisin' down the street boy was it neat..but then I crashed,
and my car was smashed,
It was fun and it was great....
but that was the end of my Z28! CMC-1986

QQQ - I saw "Saw" last night and had the same reaction. I hate scary movies. I figure real life is scary enough with out any extra heart palpitations! But I sat and laughed for most of the movie! It was far from suspenseful even!

hi, I'm Tina, my first time posting, been lurking for awhile. Dave just wanted to say first loved your and Steve's performance on cfr saturday night and the 4 of you had me in stitches.

Also noticed one of the things you're watching is American Idol? Have you got a favourite yet? Being in Canada I cannot vote, but I do love Bo Bice so far. Not overly impressed with Constantine though.

Anyway, back to lurkdom. ;)

Have a nice day everyone!

dave, have you ever played guitar in nude in a public venue? And a sock covering your cock doesn't count although it's pretty close.
last question, when was the last time you went on a nudie run in public?

Posted by: period pain at March 7, 2005 07:09 PM

Ryan - Sweetie...Dave posted earlier to let you know he does not receive mail at the babyuni address...try this:

Dave,
Went to Subway tonight, the kid (about 19ish) who made my sandwich must idolize you, he has the same hair and beard, clothes etc. etc.

I was afraid to ask though since I'm at least 10 years older than him, and I couldn't take it if he looked at me like my son often does when I try to be cool, hahaha

Has anyone ever asked you if you are a Dave Navarro WannaBe?

Posted by: ***Cyn*** at March 7, 2005 08:28 PM

That e-mail addy did not work. I got a message saying it no longer accepts mail.

Getting the Grand National back? COOL! I didn't even know you were having it pimped! You see, this is what happens when you spend too much time away from 6767.com (uuh, that sounded like a commercial!). Can't wait to see some pics of it!!!

Wishing everyone a good week! Peas 'n' love!

GOOD DAY To ALL 67LANDERS.

Shannon and her husband are splitting up? that is sad although after seeing him in The Jay and Silent Bob movie with her, and cannot fathom how they got together in the first place(maybe he has got a unicorn of his own!)

******R.I.P TOMMY VANCE**********

Dave, i just read an article in guitar world magazine from 1999 with John Frusciante, in which he states that he would not cover any of the OHM songs live, and that he does not consider OHM a true peppers album. Yet on the off the Map DVD there is a soundcheck on there and I coulda sworn it was "My Friends" that they are jamming..... Do you speak to JAF at all, how does it make u feel when quotes like this are printed...
(GOTTA tell you though that OHM is one of the strongest pieces of the Peppers back Cat. Transcending and Shallow be thy name are all time gems)

Be safe Be happy

Dave, great pic. I can't wait to see the actual show.

I, too, heard about Shannon and her husband breaking up. It's always sad to hear news like that, especially since they seemed like a nice couple. But nobody knows what goes on behind the camera... Whatever it is, I wish them well.

Anyway, have a beautiful, meaningful, productive day, everyone!
