Monday

So I see there has been a bit of drama around here. Let's just get each other's backs shall we? I have not banned anyone but I have deleted some posts that were pushing the envelope. Anyway, sorry I haven't been around in a while. I have just been deeply involved with the music, my marriage and life that Internet time has become somewhat short over here. Billy, Dono and I had a killer time on Indie last Saturday. The show is now available on the radio. Please note that the Panic Radio has a new location. Your old bookmarks may not work. Thanks to Chase and Robert for making this all happen. Today, we go back into the studio for a final week of overdubs. It is going well, but, I can't be more descriptive than my partner Steve over on his blog. For a more in depth look at what we have been doing, check it out over there. We are really very close to done with the recording process.

1. Dave, have you heard the new Nine Inch Nails song "The Hand That Feeds" - if so, what do you think to it?

I love it. I love anything that guy does.

2. I just read the Power of Now and figured why not post?

One of my all time favorite books.

3. Has it (nonsmoking) effected your patience and tolerance in the studio?

Definitely! For the first week I was a mess, but I think I am leveling out now. This is more a question for those guys. Of course, I think I'm fine!

glad you had sometime away from the net, dave.

Marriage, work and life always come before the net, Dave. Besides, if you weren't out doing stuff, you wouldn't have anything to blog about.

I hope everyone is having a good and peaceful Monday.

heLLo!

héhé good to have you here back again!
What about that possiblity to seed the copy of the TDDUP dvd that u've been given by Mtv a while ago? As it won't be released, the new technology can sure do things amazing about sharing the wealth... ;-) Torrents? spilt on an iDisk? few dvd copy?

Let's see that once u're done with the recording (d'rather have a perfect TpC album and no TDDUP dvd copy than the other way round! ;-)),and whenu'll have some free time.

Glad to hear you are doing well with the no smoking. My singer quit recently and has lasted longer than I figured he would!

Have you in any of your bands ever played at CBGB's in NYC? Are you aware of the problems they are facing? I keep waiting for big name acts to hold a benefit or a protest. This place should be a historical landmark!

Luckily I will have the chance to play before(if) it closes. We'll be there this Wed night at 11pm if you decide to randomly show up on the east coast! (www.barakus.net)

by the way Dave, CFR was hilarious! You should consider making them available to download as mp3's or something! I could listen to them over and over again!

Dave, I had a dream that you and some other rocker were playing at a local bar just down the street. It was so awesome, I was picking out stuff for you to sign and it came to that we didn't meet - I think I woke up. Bummer!

Anyway, any chance you will come in some form (whether Janes or TPC or whatever) to Milwaukee/Green Bay/Madison, Wisconsin? I know this state sucks and all.

I'm pushin' to move to Cali by the time I'm 30 (8 years).

Have a good one.

Happy Monday, everyone.

Is it just me, or has this been a bizarre month all around? With the drama on the Web, craziness in the world, unstable weather, and other challenges, March has brought with it a lot of turmoil and/or uncertainty. For all you astrology buffs, we're in a Mercury Retrograde right now. Maybe that has something to do with it. (Fortunately, that's supposed to end around April 10. So there's a light at the end of the tunnel.)

Anyhow, I hope everything goes well for everyone. Dave, good luck in the studio and elsewhere. I'm sure it will be an amazing feeling to have finished a wonderful piece of art. I'm looking forward to witnessing the excitement that will surely ensue!

Peace and love,
Denise

Thanks for reminding me how great Hammerstein is, going to NIN there in 48 days! Was going to go to Black Crowes, but couldn’t work it out. Glad you had fun, they rock.

Hey 6767 family,

Just to clear up any confusion in case any of "the drama" involved me (I hope not). In my last post I mentioned that I was banned from a different board (not here) because I thought that the "uncle creepy" person was kind of referring to me, but I am probably wrong about that.

Anyway, I was banned from a different musical site (by a mod) only because I became a bit emotional defending the singer from attacks..go figure..hopefully it's only a temporary suspension.

Music is a beautiful thing, is it not? Thank goodness it encompasses the gambit of emotions. *sighs* I think I will go channel some energy into my music.

Love and hugs and kisses to everyone!

Good morning, everyone!

Another day at work, another dollar...LOL

Andy, glad to help. I know that Charlatans song well because it was a standard at one of the clubs I used to frequent back in the day. (So was "Been Caught Stealing", but I digress...)

Emily, it's nice to 'see' you again. Sorry to hear about the boy troubles. I hope it works out either way. All I can say is trust your gut feelings.

Re: Mercury Retrograde - It has something to do w/ the way the stars are shifting, if you believe that stuff. It supposedly affects all types of communication - interpersonal relations, technology (computer networks/systems often go down - I know ours did), mail, paperwork/contracts, etc. Some signs are affected by it more than others. I don't even necessarily believe in astrology 100%, but it's just too much of a coincidence!

Have a great day, everyone. Back to the grind...

Hey now...spring beauty is here in CT! The Hammerstein is a great place to see a show, fortunatly Trey will be there. My personal favorite is Roseland Ballroom because its so personal. I love that back bar! New York has some great venues, not to forget Radio City.

Dave-do you have a studio in your home? Ever work on any other styles of music like electronic, or sampling. I dont expect you to be able to rap like Eminem...but many people in this age are putting out great computer age music! I love messin with atmospherics and they can really benefit some of the stuff TPC is onto! Fruityloops2 is a neat free program for you to check out or turn Messy onto. If I had your status, and wasnt a hotel worker/slave Id invest in an MPC player and be makin beats my man!

Lots of love

PLEASE READ DAVE!
I got suspended at TPC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For saying someone who offers nuttin but verbal harrassment "Sucks" Talk about rediculous. TPC is goin like PG-13 Dave. You can talk about demeaning women in off topic, but if ya think someone sucks better watch it. May my warning teach everyone a lesson! I dont think Id mind if someone said "I sucked" one bit over there...its an opinion. Your moderators are babys!!! There gonna make people think your band is a bunch a bitches because thats the way the people who represent your site are acting. Fortunatly I have so many other things to spend my time doin now that spring is here. But seriously, Im like one of 50 people who visit the site regularly and talk about your band in public. Whos gonna loose. How do these people expect they will regulate the internet, didnt the govt give up on that years ago and its a known fact you cant.

OVERSENSITIVE? ME OR THEM???

Sincerly

I’ve been staying out of the “drama up until now, but I have to speak up in defense of Boots. (I have no idea what went on w/the suspension, this is just a personal observation). He has been nothing but nice and kind to me, and positive, in the forum and messages. I have a hard time believing that he should be suspended without a warning for saying someone “sucks. What is going on here? Can’t we all grow up and chill and get along? It makes me want to stay away, all the negative energy flowing around here (mostly the board, not 6767) now! Too sad. This is exactly why this was the only community I’ve ever posted at until last year, all the fighting and BS that goes on takes away from what the boards were originally for, THE MUSIC and THE ARTISTS. They turn into cliques where people take sides and gang up, try to play favorites in an attempt to get closer to the artist they are a fan of, and the only thing that happens is that it drives away other fans because they just don’t want to deal with it. Not saying that I am so important that if I left it would make a difference, but one becomes two, two become four and eventually you only have the nasty people left. I’ll still be around, but I am a lot more guarded about posting. Just trying to be a voice of reason here, so please don’t attack me.

I'm sorry to hear that Boots....there is one moderator in particular who is quite childish....hope it's a short suspension and you'll be back again soon...

Posted by: Cori at March 29, 2005 09:28 AM

Boots,i can't believe that is all they banned you for...if thats all it takes to be banned then there won't be many left on the board, most people will get banned, one moderator in particular should ban himself..i've read harsher words in his posts than the word "Suck"

Posted by: MOOYYAA at March 29, 2005 09:31 AM

The moderator was 6767(henry rollins), Ive pm'd him and we have discussed this. I hope he saw my point, I think I may have even lost an internet friend over this because she said Im puttin Dave on the spot? My concern is about misrepresentation for his band by mods using him for a power trip. In a way I feel my comment was constructive because by saying this person sucks hopefully he/she/Avril will be less apt to instigate and put others down. When she said the loop experiment was "overrated", I told her "better to be overrated than underrated!" I guess I just had a bad choice of word this time. Im far from perfect! I think im one of like thirty people who contribute constructivly at TPC community. I joined in hope to get my demo to Dave. You guys grew on me..and its enjoyeable but that still is my ultimate goal. We all want to be heard. So Freedaze "im sorry". In you own words "Freedaze won again" But whos the real loser? The band risks loosing a big supporter. How many other people are bringing up TPC in daily conversation this early in the process? So Creepy is gone and me too! Good work. Ive stated my goal, that kid seemed outta line but here for the right reason-music. Why do you log in-to instigate, thats the way it seemed until your negative posts got censored at the community.

Sorry everyone

BOOTS SUCKS!! r we even? actually thats not what you want to hear YOU WIN..BOOTS SUCKS!

Posted by: boots at March 29, 2005 09:41 AM

Boots,
That is EXACTLY why I don't even visit TPC anymore. Even 6767 gets rather nasty at times. I can think of one individual who goes by several names on here that has a real problem. Thankfully they don't make their presence known everyday. If you want to continue to use TPC as a place to have your voice heard, I wish you all the best. I enjoy reading all your posts here at 6767, so keep em' coming!!!
Sue, your double post was well said!

RE: CBGB's

I just got back from a trip to NYC last week and believe me, CBGB's was on the top of my list. For a music fan, visiting this place is as sacred as a pilgrim going to a Vatican Mass. I was able to go in before it opened and had the place to myself. It was dark and smelly and as cool as anything I have ever seen. I could actually hear the ghost of Joey Ramone shouting, "One. Two. Three. Four." as the band started up Sheena is a Punk Rocker! I got goose bumps. I got chills. I had tears. It was that powerful. I could picture members of Blondie and the Talking Heads drinking and smoking while waiting for their sets to begin. I'm only thirty-six so all of this happened way before my prime. But I have all the records and know all the history.

I grew up in LA and we had places like the Masque and Scream. I was too young for the Masque but I could sneak into Scream for Jane's and Love and Rockets. We also had Al's Bar which is the only place that I could compare to CBGB's. A small, dark, stinky beer joint near Little Tokyo. I saw so many great bands there that I can't even remember them all but here goes. Mother Love Bone, Popdefect, Sandy Duncan's Eye, Pygmy Love Circus, Haunted Garage, Circle Jerks, Thelonious Monster, Beck, the Nymph's, Green Jello, the Pimps, and so many more. Well, Al's Bar is all gone now. Lost their lease and closed the doors. It's a sad shame that some things change. Part of my best musical experiences are holed up in that shitty little bar.

Now flash forward and I hear that CBGB's is about to lose their lease due to back rent and a greedy landlord. Crap! I feel so helpless to watch it go, even from my San Diego home. Well, Dave...They need almost eighty grand to get straight...here's my proposal.

Camp Freddy strikes again! A benefit show for CBGB's in NYC, with Lou Reed, Deborah Harry, the surviving Ramones, members of the Talking Heads and all of your "usual suspects." I know you can do this... Talk to Dono and Matt and Chris and Billy and see what they think. Just think about how much friggin fun a gig like that would be. I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

Anyway, I've said my piece. Vive Le Rock!

hello to everyone by the way

I saw a preview of a Hottest Girlfriends/wives show on VH1 and you guessed it, Dave is on there because his wife is super smokin'.

Like several of the other agents, I have stayed out of the recent drama. Personally, even if I disagree strongly with someone, I don't see a point in being cruel and I just won't do it. I think it's a waste of my energy. If I get angry, I deal with it peacefully the best I can and move on.

"No flaming tolerated" is the policy on the Spread list and since 1998 it has worked so well. It is the one and only rule and it's put on the table as soon as someone subcribes as somewhat of a disclaimer. In seven years with several hundred subscribers, it only happened twice. Agree to disagree, respect each others differences, and be civil to one another during the process. There's enough hatred/negativity in the world, we don't need any more of it in a recreational forum that we visit for enjoyment.

I think if it's made crystal clear to all from the get go, that flaming / cruelty to one another is off limits, people will respect that. Just as a simple suggestion, if the moderators see someone approaching the danger zone, dropping a "dude, please chill and let it go or take it off the board because we like having you here" private message may be all it takes to keep the peace. I've seen it work effectively and it ends up creating a really tight-knit environment because it breeds an aura of mutual respect. We're all on the same side, even when we disagree.

Any other old school uni's out there want to back me on this?

Spreading a whole lot of love to all of you,
Deena

Posted by: Deena13 at March 29, 2005 07:11 PM

Deena, I am not oldschool, just a newbie, but I agree that had that rule been made crystal clear from the getgo, none of this recent drama would have transpired. But, I ask you this, who moderates the moderators? What if they are the ones that are likely to lose their own temper from time to time, I am sure, that at the Spread board, you never used profanity against another poster,or took their intelligence and sensitivity into question....

ok, I will now yield the floor to those that have more experience in these matters...

jezzi(once thought 'spam' was in a can)

Posted by: jezebel at March 29, 2005 07:24 PM

Sorry to hear about the suspension, Boots!

I agree 100% with Sue's post & with Tara's post also~! And....jezzi, sometimes it's very hard being 'the-voice-of-reason'...especially when you are dealing with some very unreasonable, self absorbed pig-headed individuals! There is one particular child at TPC board whose sole existance is about being constantly troublesome.

When does the point of tolerance end? Even if an individual isn't using profanity towards another poster, it's certainly not okay to spam negativity in almost 95% of their posts. Why allow this person to do this daily wthout repercussions?

Deena has a great idea of taking the arguments OFF the board, unfortunately the other side of that suggestion is the basic fact that those TPC spammers want to do exactly the opposite....they want the world to SEE the arguments...because at that point....they've made the bands messageboard THEIR own personal forum. They enjoy their 'power' to irk others.

I haven't been around here much myself, as if anyone has noticed. I really ENJOYED coming here when this blog originally went up. Then TPC messageboard seemed to go downhill almost immediately because of the spammers. I do occassionally read this blog & TPC messageboard, though I've kept away from posting.

So Boots isn't allowed to comment that someone "sucks", yet some of the topics at the TPC messageboard have been very derogatory, evil & quite offensive. Have the Moderators lost their minds??

Personally, I stopped coming here and also stopped going to TPC board, because of the endless barrage of self appointed 'critics' & 'experts' who started to permeate both places. The TPC messageboard became 'showcases' for certain people. It became less about TPC and more about these people. They know who they are, I don't need to mention their names, they'd probably get so excited that they are one of the reasons why some fans no longer post.

I was also getting tired of reading (in TPC forums I once enjoyed) the non-stop spamming of the aforementioned self-appointed critics/experts. Sometimes too much 'information' gives me a huge pounding migraine....so I stayed away & will possibly continue to do so. One persons compliments/comments were ALWAYS backhanded ones, which of course ultimately ended up being about their massive knowledge, talent & HUGE ego. Their 'compliments' never seemed truly sincere.

Yes, I DID post on TPC board early on about certain Mods using their 'power postions' to get closer to the band etc. From participating in so many boards over the past few years, it's nothing new to have a board be taken over by people who have their own agenda. Whether they are looking to promote their careers, their bands or are simply there to make the board all about them.

Of course, my comments went ignored. Here's some of what I posted: "Most people want to be Mods for all the wrong reasons, as others have stated here. I really do hope that Dave, Steve & whoever else picked the Mods, have NOT picked them for the wrong reasons! "

"1. A Mod who feels the need to be in the "Inner Circle" & "Behind the Velvet Rope". Nothing worse than alienating fans, then breaking them into little sub groups.

2. A Mod who's constanly promoting themselves or their career. This IS, after ALL, The PANIC CHANNEL's board, not a place for any one individual to promote themselves & to create their own little 'fan club'. It IS suppossed to be about the BAND, first & foremost. Then, about the fans interacting with each other etc.

3. Because they have posted MORE than the 'regular' fans. Is that honestly ever enough of a reason and a criteria for assigning a Moderator? "758 posts, guess I should be a Mod!" btw, WHAT IS the critera for picking Mods anyway?"

Another of my early posts from TPC board: "We ALL make up this group of dedicated Dave/PC fans, not just a small minority of people who are becoming friendly with the band. I've seen it happen many times on different boards, not just music boards. The 'super' fans vs the 'regular' fans.

After a while the 'regulars' get turned off for various reasons, they stop posting & that's not cool for the band. It makes it seem as if the band/musician involved is justifying any negativity which might be going on at their board, by having a certain segment of fans 'lord' over the proceedings. Of course, that DOESN'T seem to be the case here, as both Dave & Steve ARE very active in this boards activities. That's a BIG PLUS!"

"Fans also have to be very concerned about fracturing off into cliqués, that's basically what I'm concerned with. East Coast vs West Coast vs Europe etc.....stuff like that, IS to be avoided at ALL costs. Then to have someone post on this messageboard about possibly having different 'ranks' in order to post and/or get access to different sections/threads....that is totally absurd! Ranking fans will cause even more alienation & problems. People should to be more thoughtful in making their suggestions. I DO hope that one of the criterias for picking Mods was based on their past history of moderating elsewhere, I would think it's ALWAYS a plus to have experience."

" ...that is what this community IS suppossed to be about, EVERYONE joining in.
Not just a HANDFUL of elitist folks who think their opinions & ideas are the ONLY ones. DIG??? Pretty soon our posts will be edited, our art will be edited etc. I've seen this happen at so MANY boards.....suddenly this one little 'crew' takes over....it makes for a VERY BAD vibe all around. Comprendo?"

Lastly.....I could say; "I told you so". My old posts above, from TPC board, speak for themselves, as does the 'fighting', spamming & other current problems which are going on at TPC board.

I surely hope things change soon.

The 6767 Community has been a great place to 'talk' with many interesting, fun & cool people. The LOVE of Dave & enjoyment of his music have given us common ground....let's NOT lose that important reason for us being here in the first place.

As usual, a small....yet very troublesome minority.....gets their pleasure by spoiling it for the majority.

take care,
itanja

jezz, you know i heart you to death (and you know this without the "man") but i think the band, and especially dave, moderate the moderators. so we're at their disposal and discretion and seeing that it's their board, i'm cool with that.

rxs---I 'diamond' a hug!!...lol. excellent point. I forgot for a moment, it is THE BAND's BOARD!!! I humbly defer to their wishes. I do, however, wish that posting policy had been in place from the gate, then there wouldn't be any room for debate. What is it Dave says, "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail." ok, so, that's why I don't buy anybody's freedom of speech argument, and why I myself have to say I must be some sort of hypocrite for being offended by people calling me names. grrrr...

Im sorry everybody for the mess! Im more than glad to serve the time, do feel it was a little unjust and Im being made an example of by the mod. But I typed it right in front of him. Almost provoked him, as was done to me in a way by the person I was commenting about. I just think its funny how people go on the internet and would expect it to be always a perfect place, like when people write "how could someone write that, Im reading it at work." Isnt that the risk everytime you log on and why employers dont want you online. There are sites labeled "happy flowers" only to depict bloody murder photos. I know there are rules, but really how far do we have to push them. The person who I said sucks called another person at TPC worse things than I called her today-anyone notice?.Whats worse to suck or be a dumbass? And should I have posted a warning that I was gonna post those aweful adjectives here just now? Fughetaboutit!!- I just happened to get noticed on this post...but check my others...that site is littered with my compliments, constructive criticisms, ups, downs, my poetry,my picture on the avitar, music, and positive contributions. How does one know I was even being malicious. Should I get thrown in jail for a comment that "Bush sucks" Whats funny is all the censorship at these sites, people erasing things to make themselves look right. Anyone else notice this? Context lost.Hopefully, April 5th Ill wanna post again...If not I hope someone notices, cause I like some of you guys. Things happen for a reason, may we all grow from these occurances. If anyone wants to judge my character, my posts are all over that site...feel free...hopefully someone hasnt erased em all and reposted the YOU SUCK post to make their judgement look respectable.

Shake it sleazy!

Dave so are you into The Starlit??

Being that i'm one of these horrible moderators on the community (we are a team, and a diss to one is a diss to all) I feel it only fair that I put my 2 cents in.

First of all, this is a relatively new community that is being tried out to see how it all works. We're new at this thing, so please bear with us...
Moderators will probably be added or maybe changed as the fan base grows and more and more people register on the community. Maybe more of us will be given moderation/suspension abilitly eventually. And since each of us are unique individuals just like everyone else on the board, we will have different opinions and ways of doing things, too. But in general we're starting to come up with a standard of doing things for all of us. I think it would be good to have a meeting or two with the band online to discuss things, but provided how busy they are, who knows when or if that would be possible.

As far as being in the "inner circle" or "behind the velvet rope" goes, that is certainly not one of my aims. It really bugs me when people imply things like that and the whole 'groupie' thing. I would think it only normal for the band to get to know and become friends with the people that regularly go to their shows. In this case, they go above and beyond by putting us to work to help out with things such as moderating the community.

I really don't understand what cliques some of you are talking about. I don't see anything wrong with people from the community who are in the same area becoming friends in real life. I think it should be understood by all that the board is not some type of silly popularity contest. It is a place for all of us that share a common admiration for the band and their music to come together and discuss all sorts of things and share our views. If you see something you feel is worth commenting on, then comment on it. If you see a thread going in a strange direction, try to get it back on track. Sure there will be some personalities on there that will get overbearing, but it shouldn't keep you from ignoring it and focusing on what you feel are the positive parts of the community.

And you guys know you can come to me, Cassandra, Rantz, or any of the other mods if you have any concerns about the community.. we'll be sure to let the band know about it.

I agree with rxs, if Dave thinks that something has been taken too far, he has the right to stop it. It is his web-site after all and it is our privilege that we can talk to the guy like this. How many other rock stars have a system like this where they run their own web-site by themselves? interact with its supporters and you know that the response you get has been written by himself? Give the guy a break, he is obviously quite busy at the moment so I think we just need to stand back and give him some time for responses. His job at the end of this is to make fantastic music, and he moderates this web-site in his free time…

Peace
Simon

Dave, I'm watching "I want a famous face" on MTV and right now it's a girl having surgery to look like Carmen, and her boyfriend not only condones it but, encourages it. What's your take on this? Not just because it's your wife she's having surgery to look like but, the whole "I want a famous face" in general. And also if someone had surgery to look like you? (Which, may have already been done.)

Itanja, you or anyone else couldn't have said it better!

I'd like to point out though, that there's a certain Mrs. Jezebel who seeks to be the "positive one" and acts all innocent in all. Her and her "friends" not realizing that she has gotten under the skin of many, but it's okay because "she's so sweet." It's those "sweet" cliques too, that have kept me away from the bored for a long time. She has been mentioned on many levels. She's a groupie and loves her little cliques which you speak of. (Panicats?) I believe that she doesn't even realize other than her not being a mod. she's everything else you've mentioned, whether you're friends or not. As Deena said, "no flaming tolerated" but yet Jezebel encouraged the not liked FreeDaze to "flame on sister." But I guess that's okay, because she's sweet. I hope everyone takes into consideration ALL that Itanja has said. The Community can be a great place. And Boots getting banned is crap. FreeDaze has been left on that board and is nothing BUT negative. I post there now and again. Hey, I even talk to Jezebel. (Call me two-faced) Only reason I'm anonymous is because Jezebel will spew her words of "let's all be positive and Dave!!" and somehow end up the good guy. Hey, Creepy was a freak and I didn't care for him either, but why's Jezebel any better? Now I'm sure everyone will be all "blah blah" with their lame opinions and tell me how sweet Jezebel is, don't waste your time responding to me, because I could care less. It's all elementary and you've already lost the heart of the TPC Board and the reason it was started in the first place. Hopefully it can be rebirthed, so-to-speak. It's sad that we, including myself have wasted time for this. It's so much more sad that Dave has to WASTE time and babysit telling "adults" to have eachother's backs. Sad case.

Posted by: Colors Bland at March 29, 2005 11:11 PM

Hi Dave,
I would like to know why you have changed the name from Jane`s Addiction to The Panic Channel
instead 3/4 of the band are the same.
It`s more like the end of a period, or the 2 bands are too different or it`s just a "legal note"?
It would be commercially more easy to sell an album by THE JANE`S ADDICTION than THE PANIC CHANNEL, isn`t it?!

thanks for your love for music..we can feel it throught your songs.

Posted by: Colors Bland at March 29, 2005 11:41 PM

Mortisha and Simon loved your post.
How can such a little thing be so wise??

Anyhow, thank you Dave for giving us so much and Colors Bland I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't really feel that there are cliques and stuff and I have used the term “panicats many times but that term wasn’t exclusive in any way, I thought it identified all of us. And by all of us I don’t mean a certain “clique or whatever I mean all of us. Of course there are people that talk to each other more than others, maybe because they live close and they met each other through this site or because they get positive reinforcement from each other or feel that 99% of the people here happen to be phenomenal and as a result have built strong friendships. What’s wrong with people building great ties with each other??? Just because someone may be closer to someone else doesn’t mean that they are ignoring everyone else, it just means that they happen to be more friends with someone else. Or whatever, I don’t see anything wrong with that.
I have tons of friends, I’m closer to some than others but they are all still my friends. I also go through periods where I’m closer to someone that another, it happens.

In a way it seams that people that feel this way have formed their own anti-clique. I don’t know I feel sorry you feel that way but in another way I also feel that perhaps this is your perception of things because of your own inner conflicts. If you see someone talking about something, and you feel you want to contribute, contribute that’s what the forum is for. I never read a thread that said only so and so can post here. They are open to everyone but don’t get mad because you post one time, or maybe twice and nobody responded to you or quoted you…or whatever. It doesn’t mean that people don’t care about you; it just means that people have nothing to say about that. Shit, my confidence level would be so low if I was hanging on every word. I post tons of times and most of that time nobody says something, nothing wrong with that. It happens.

As to jezzy I don’t know what the hell you are talking about. Seriously I read a lot of her post and whatever you are saying doesn’t fit the bill at all. Frankly I find her to be awesome because the girl has got it going on. She’s so freakin smart and has a snazzy answer to almost anything. I’m sure there are tons of people that could careless about me, and that’s ok I could deal with that. Not everyone hearts me. But if someone isn’t your cup of tea, or you don’t find their remarks to be charming or whatever there is no need to be so grade school and start a flaming campaign. You don’t like her fine, I don’t like plenty of people but you don’t see me typing a storm on a place that is not meant for it. I have my own personal blog for that, no need to display such hatred or misguided jealousy in a place like this. Dave, Billy, and Steve have taken the “fan interaction/community experience to a whole different level, they have given us so much and I don’t feel that it’s fair to pay them back like that. By me saying this in a way is contributing to this shit but I felt that I had to do it.

One more thing,
“yet Jezebel encouraged the not liked FreeDaze to flame on sister from what I saw she never encouraged such a thing, she sympathized with FreeDaze because she felt she was misguided, young and naïve that’s not the same as encouraging “to flame on sister there is a big difference.

Seriously let’s get back to the thing that brought us all together. I think we are taking this for granted. At any given moment it can be stopped, let’s make it all it can be and remember that it’s a privilege. Again I’m sorry you feel that way but also remember it’s a forum, there are many other things in life to huff and moan about. For instance the person that cut you off. Don’t take yourself so seriously life is to short for all this bullshit.

Posted by: Wendybird at March 30, 2005 12:32 AM

(I’m just an undercover? attention whore) and I said I wasn’t going to post again

Posted by: rxs at March 30, 2005 01:35 AM

Of course Dave should go see NIN with you rxs! I'm on your side, my friend. I wanna go too.

I am not seeing any cliques at the board. It is a community with developing relationships, and some people are not going to like each other. That's life. I like pretty much everybody and try to be friendly and welcoming to the new people because I don't have the energy nor the inclination to be a bitch. I do enjoy a good debate though. :)

I do have to state my opinion for the record. Boots needs to be let back in. He is a good guy from what I have seen. Freedaze lives for negativity and never disappoints if that is what you are expecting in her posts. Why is she still there? Doesn't seem right to me...

Whoa! LOL

Good morning, everyone. Just checking in. I'm sure everything will work itself out. Everyone has valid points, which is a testament to everyone's collective intelligence, maturity, posistive outlook, and sense of compassion. For the most part. ;)

On a lighter note, Martino's suggestion about calling the band The Jane's Addiction instead of The Panic Channel reminds me of the whole Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship brouhaha from way back when. Maybe they can call the band "Jane's Obsession" or "Jane's Compulsion"! I can picture it now! As long as they don't write crappy tunes like "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now."

Clearly I've had enough coffee. Time to cut me off. ;)

Dave, I am so sorry for bringing the negativity I seem to have festered to your blog. Please understand that was never my intention, and I am quite embarrassed to be part of it. This place is where I met my dearest friends, and I guess my arch nemesis as well...

Ric-NY is filled with superstars/glamorous people! The problem is there are so many people there, the chances of spottin them isnt good. FYI stores (FYI is the name of the store I believe) have tons of book signings and stars promoting merchandise during the week! Howard Stern show usually keeps ya updated on this but check the internet.

I read a good quote from "The Dirt"-Motley Crue book by Tommy Lee although it may be recycled by him-not sure. He
writes about FEAR and states that "Fear can only occur when one has lost faith." There is so much truth to that and I really dig that and hope someone else does too!

"Where fear is, faith isn't" was actually the quote! Glad I checked the book! I like that better than my version/interpritation. My bad!

Also thanks to everyone for their kindness and support. Its a beautiful day here in CT. Isnt spring the best? When do we change the clocks?

Sexsinger-hear about the Norwich,CT teen who was subdued and had an obsenity tattooed on his forehead by two other teens? I heard about it on Howard Stern...shocking! What kind shit are you on to do something like that? There wasnt much info other than the teen will have to have plastic surgery! Let me know if you ever want to check out a show at Toads, or The Space in Hamden. I live by Hartford, so the Webster is also an option. Also, ever heard of Dudleytown? (The empty village known to be haunted? Check it out on internet. I may be goin there with some people from work, but Im hesitatant. Once had a bad experience with a OUIJA board!) Not at TPC!

Anyone have any good OUIJA board storys? This is usually a great topic for conversation. Those things are truly evil. Someone should make a thread at TPC! I got a story for April 5th when I can post again.

Dave-have you perused the loop experiment in the past two weeks? "After All":my demo is up. NJOY!

Sincerly

Jezebel, I don't hate you. I don't have any reason to. I also think you may think I'm someone else. I guess there was drama going on before. I've only caught on as of this post and comments. I don't have your number or what have you. To me, you're Jezebel, a girl on the computer. And yes, I'm contradicting myself by saying I could care less about any comments after mine. Okay, so I'm sorry for what I said about you. BUT, after all this flaming, I saw that in that thread and it seemd to me contradicting and just as upsetting. I shouldn't have called you a groupie, again, it just bothered me that you had said that and she's already so negative. But whatever. You don't have to take to extents like assuming I hate you. Don't ever ASSume. I guess all my words were wrong. I shouldn't have said anything in the first place. It's the net, anyone can perceive your words as they wish at anytime.

All this drama is beyond stupid already. Jezebel, I'm sorry for anything I said. And done.

Like Mortisha said, we're a human bunch, us mods. Not anymore wise than anyone else, and we bounce things off each other to reach a consensus (usually) between us because of that. Rather than make a decision out of emotion, it's better to ask for second and third opinions on the mod team to make sure that the posts or postee in question gets a fair shake and eval.

Will mistakes get made? Of course. Will we do our best to correct those mistake or right those mistakes when made? Of course. That said, folks cannot expect to go galumphing in amongst the posts and start pewing attacks and vitriol at people and for us to just sit back and go "How charming". It's a thankless job in that regard. If we take corrective action, we're Nazis, if we do nothing, we're letting assholes get away with murder.

Now, I haven't even begun to wade through the TPC posts (been gone for close to a week on vacation with the fam.) but I can say, we (the mod team) DO try our level best to a.) be fair and equal across the board on things, and b.) try and keep this shit out of the band's hair as much as possible because, well gee, we'd rather they work on the album so we can all have some music to RAWK to!

As noted, you guys are always free to contact us if you feel we're doing something wrong, or feel like an issue is being ignored, and you can be sure that we *will* take it seriously.

cheers

boots~

I did have an eerie encounter with a Ouija board. It was in 7th grade and about 5 of us girls sat down in my friends living room, lights off, candles burning, and quietness.
We all put one finger on the pointer and asked some dumb questions, then my friend Heather asked if there was an evil spirit in our midst, and it spelled out Jennifer, which was one of our friends that was there. We all screamed and that Ouija board was in Heather's garage sale that next month. Mind you we all only had 1 finger on the pointer, which makes it pretty hard to move it yourself.

So there's my 2 cents on that subject ;)

Could the TCP moderators please then look into Boots punishment, its not at all consistent with other bannings or even offences that get overlooked.

Ouija boards...

One of the last purchases I ever made for myself at a toy store was a Parker Bros. Ouija board when I was around 14-15. (Real authentic, right? LOL) I tried it myself several times, with little success.

Then one day I decided to play with it with a friend. The pointer started to move, and we asked the 'spirit' its name. Her name turned out to be Wendy. My friend was freaked out by this; I however was psyched to have finally gotten a response. We then asked Wendy how she died. The pointer slid over to "V"... and then to "D". (She didn't specify which one.) At this point, my friend was even more freaked out. I found it quite amusing and cool.

We proceeded to ask Wendy questions about boys, love, the future... mostly yes/no questions. I forget the answers.

We then said goodbye to Wendy and tried to meet another spirit. We asked for a name, and the window spelled out the name SASAR. Thinking this was a very evil-sounding name, my friend screamed and proceeded to fling the board across the floor. So much for that.

Memories...

I love Dave's Ouija Board story in DTTAH...I could just picture him freaking out and getting all paranoid about the cryptic messages from his unborn son...and trying to figure out EXACTLY when he was going to die!

Dave...are you able to look back on that stuff now and laugh about it?

What's happenin' Dave. There's an interesting new interview with Martyn LeNoble over at www.aintnoright.com. When asked about the production on 'Strays' he said:

ML: I would be one of the fans that agreed Bob fucked up the sound. At one point I had a talk with him, and said “Man I’m just trying to do Jane’s, and this doesn’t sound like Jane’s. I asked him if he had ever even listened to Ritual, and he said “I can’t listen to that record because I hate the way it sounds. He said “I want Jane’s to stop being an art metal band and be a world class rock band.

How do you feel about that? Did you and the band agree with Bob Ezrin? Not tryin to bring any negativity to the board or anything, just curious. Also, Martyn says he is unclear on why he was kicked out of Jane's. Any word on that?

Thanks Dave, Keep up the great work on the site.

Hey guys. I'm sorry for being so... unknowledgeable (sp)... but what are exactly SPAMMERS? And Dave almost had a kid?? I hear something about that on his song The Bed, and I did read DTTAH but I forget the Ouiji Board story, but Cori just said something about his unborn kid? Can someone fill me in alittle bit? I'm sorry.
((Not only do I wanna read his book again but also because of me always forgetting things like this))

Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at March 30, 2005 02:21 PM

Hi Jess!

You know, that last time I read Dave's book was a little bit ago so, I don't remember the exact details...just something about him playing with the Ouija Board (in a drugged-out state, I believe) and thinking that his yet to be born/presumably yet to be conceived Son was communicating with him and telling him he was going to die soon...something along those lines. I remembered getting a very clear visual while reading that section...it struck me as very funny and yet incredibly sad at the same time.

Posted by: Cori at March 30, 2005 02:31 PM

Hey Dave,
A quick question if I may...

What's your take on Mötley Crüe? I ask because I notice you're wearing one of their t-shirts on the cover of Strays and was surprised, given their cock-rock leanings (Girls Girls girls etc...), and the fact that Jane's were so anti that kind of big hair 80s cheesiness. Was it an ironic statement of yours?

Hope you have time to answer. Cheers.

I just had a Dave Moment! On my way over to shut the stereo off to leave my house and it's set on 92.3 K-Rock in NYC, for some reason Carson Daly is on, and as I am about to hit the power button, he says, "Dave Navatto on the phone!" it's like he was waiting for me! Haa haa! He's so cute, even on the radio! So, I had to share my "Dave Navarro Moment" with other fans! What a nice note to leave on! Plus I'm on my way to see my friends 10 year old niece play electric guitar at an open mike night at a bar/restaurant in Randolph tonight! I hear she's pretty good and she's so excited!and she loves classic rock! Rock on sista!!! Everyone have a good night, and follow this little girl's un-spoken advise! Do what your heart tells ya! FOllow your passion!

Again, as I posted on TPC, let's all "sing, sing a song, sing out loud, sing out strong"....

I think that this drama is nothing to lose sleep over....life will go on, Dave will always be brilliant, people will post and not get along and maybe perhaps be banned, but at the end of the day, everything will be all right....we are all here for one reason: We all love Dave, and as long as we try to remember to respect each other, I think this drama will pass.....

Dave - I've finally had a chance to listen to last Saturday's CFR and got some info that might interest you:

~ Actual amount of semen per ejaculation: 1-2 teaspoons
~ Average number of times a man will ejaculate in his lifetime: 7,200
~ Average # of times he will ejaculate from masturbation: 2,000
~ Average total amount of lifetime ejaculate: 14 gallons
~ Average speed of ejaculation: 28 miles per hour
~ Average # of calories in a teaspoon of semen: 7
~ Most arousing time of day/season for a man: early morning/fall

Obviously...you are above average so, you will probably need to at least double these figures ;)

Dave, I just wanted to say that I along with many other friends went over to TPC Community to sign up, but after seeing what has been said there we are all extremely disgusted at the immaturity. Whether it'd be your very own mods. (Joe) saying "F*ck you Jesus" or a member (freedaze) saying "Jesus is a Mexican f*ck." It's disturbing that a board for a great band in process has been taken in the direction that it has. I would wipe that place out and start fresh. Myself or the others will not be participating in that board. No, everyone isn't religious, but one of your own mods. making statements as such and kicking someone else out for saying someone or something sucks? It makes absolutely no sense. If fans of TPC go over to that board and see what's going on, it could and will chase them away. I applaud and love what you do for your fans, but they don't seem to be appreciating that at the moment. I know that you nor any of the other band members have all or possibly any time in the world to deal with a message board, but I hope that you seriously consider starting over. It seems like it is the samecircle of people that have contibuted to this mess. It really sucks because we were excited about it. Not only have they degraded your board but they've brought it over to your blog now. Even the one's apologizing to you and saying they're sorry for contributing, yet they continue. I along with many other *love* to read your blog. It's so interesting to have an amazing musician such as yourself let us know about the progress of your music in the making. Your blog has been completely jaded. It saddens me to think that you may want to leave it has you have previously. Sorry to have to take away precious time for such a thing, but it has gone too far.

Thank you for hearing me (us) out.

RIP Terri Shiavo. It's a shame that she had to get caught up in so much political ridiculousness. Now there can finally be some closure.

Posted by: Denise at March 31, 2005 08:06 AM

Hey people, can you all do me a favor and post your concerns over at the community itself?

I think that if you want something changed, that perhaps bringing it to everyone's attention is the best way to go about it, rather than clog up Dave's blog with stuff he shouldn't have to deal with.

Posted by: Six7Six7 at March 31, 2005 08:06 AM

Well put 6767!
Do you really think closing the blogs which you love so much is a good idea, disguisted?
Why start over, that would be such a waste of time and energy. My thoughts are that TPC community isnt gonna have as much affect on things as some people seem to think. The band has little media coverage thus far, because promotion hasnt begun. The bands unsigned and the music isnt out. Who judges the music by the fans anyway. I hope Dave isnt disguisted by his fans...r ya? But yes there seems to be some immaturity, that I no longer want to be a part of and never really did. Case closed- thanks everyone for the support oh and I think I can post again but havent tried. I cant believe people were worried that because I asked Dave to spend one minute to talk to a mod people were angry that I was putting him on the spot and trying to get his attention away from his music. I support the guy, dont worship him but I hope there is respect for that. Again I apologize and want to make clear that the only opinions I have are the ones I type under my screenname-boots.

Dave-ever get embarrassed by your fans, or does it just kinda make you smile when they worship you or loose composure? Can you share the OUIJA board story some time...I dont recall it from the book.

Unfortunately in this country we give more mercy to a convicted felon being executed than we do to a helpless, innocent woman. To think that her parents were forced to watch her waste away for almost 2 weeks, not even allowed to moisten her dry, cracked lips! It is immoral.

R.I.P. Terri

Posted by: ***Cyn*** at March 31, 2005 08:47 AM

I was so shocked to hear about Terri. Thats real sad and a shame. How could people do that to her? I wonder what her husband thinks. Honestly, he probably doesnt even care that much. He had a fiance(sp) and two kids(?) anyway. Thats horrible that he could do that to his wife. Ahh, makes me so frustrated.
Terri- You'll never be forgotten. R*I*P

Posted by: ..::Jess::.. at March 31, 2005 11:49 AM

Terri should have been put out of her misery a long time ago. or like Denise said "It's a shame that she had to get caught up in so much political ridiculousness. Now there can finally be some closure."
R.I.P.

Posted by: Emma at March 31, 2005 12:30 PM

What was done to Terri was an absolute disgrace to humanity! But as with most things in this world, the almighty dollar seems to e the bottom line. And I hope Mr. Schiavo realizes that what goes around comes around!

Cori - The thing with Dave on the radio was just a little clip, Carson asked him something that I didn't even hear, but Dave's answer was about how the electronic devices of our time can be used as a great way to avoid being bothered by people or getting out of situations we want to avoid. You can always just pick up your phone and pretend to be on it type thing! Needless to say it was sort of a wierd clip, but, nice to hear his voice!

And, for the record, my friends 10 year old niece I went to see play last nite, ROCKED!!! She blew me away, she played a Van Halen tune I can't remember (shame on me) but it was VAN HALEN, not Van Hagar or Van Extreme, Crazy Little Thing called Love by Queen, that song by Bowling for Soup (i think that's the name) 1985, and Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi. She literally kicked ass! I had chills and tears. I bet she'll be famous. It was an honor to see the Tiger Woods of guitar right in front of me!!! She's been playing for 5 years, but just recently started electric.

Chicks with guitars! Gotta love it!!

I have a question for Dave, though this has probably been asked before; How many guitars do you own? Acoustics? Electrics?

Dave this is a serious question that I’ve asked before. How do take care of your skin?? Do you recommend any particular facial?? (I’m willing to pay the major pesos for a good complexion) I know it’s not a manly Rrr “I am man hear me roar question but you must do something to have such great skin.

My skin has done a turn for the worst. (and yes I am finally seeing a dermatologist) Help a sista out before I have to start wearing a veil for non religious reasons. Can you imagine the bird with a veil rocking out at the TPC shows. Hmm come to think of it, it might be nice for all humanity.

Love always and one day lovely complexion again,

Wendy

(I’m on a coffee high again…can you tell)
If anyone else has a facial recommendation e-mail me, it will be a great service to all mankind :D

sweetmelis, two things. Your neice sounds pretty cool, we should all watch out for her in years to come.

Secondly, it is very easy for one to say that Terri should have lived and never of been able to die, but until you have taken care of someone like that it is very hard to comprehend what happened except from what you hear in the media. I can tell you from experience that taking care of someone in a condition is very stressful and depressing on everyone around you. It is a full time job of which you don't get paid for and it certainly takes it toll. After how may years it was that she was like, that chances of her making a recovery are extremely slim. It is a terrible thing that happened and something that I wouldn't wish upon anyone, but it is very difficult for you to deal with when you have to care for someone like that full time. I'm not saying euthanasia is right, but surely in cases like that it is has to be used.

Hopefully now the family can get some closure and try to move on from what has most likely been a very stressful and highly depressing time of that past years without forgeting the life that was Terri.

I have some skin advice....I'll email you.

I see my dermatologst monthly, so she gives me loads of new products to try. In fact, I might have some stuff I can send you, I'll check the expiration dates!

btw, I actually think facials are too irritating for people with acne prone skin. Too much manipulation of acne prone skin can actually cause more problems!

I don't know what your actual skin problem is, so we'll discuss this privately.

take care,

Wendy, I've been using ProActive (seen on TV) for over a year now, and it has really worked for me. They send you what they call a 30 day supply, but it seems to last me more like 3-4 months. They also recommend using it twice a day, but I only do it once, in the morning. If you're interested go to Proactive.com (it's something like that) Many celebrities endorse it, who knows if they really use it, but it has really worked for me. One thing I've noticed though is if I miss more than one day, I get a couple pimples, so I try to make sure I use it everyday. Check it out!

Hey Simon, I actually am sort of aware of what it takes, and I don't take away all that he actually did for her, when he did it. But here's the thing, for me anyway, he wanted to move on, and he did for the most part, new girlfriend, kids, what have you. Her family wanted nothing more than to be her caretakers, and make her as comfortable as possible. He had an out. But with that out, he wasn't going to get any of the money set aside strictly for her care, because she would still be alive, and being her beneficiary, he would only get it if she died. (and he already went through his share of the money won from the lawsuit from when she first fell ill) Regardless of that. To make a human being starve and dehydrate to death because of a "slim chance of recovery" is absolutley dispicable. No one will ever know if she actually was suffering, or not, or to what extent, for that matter. And the fact that there is even the most remote chance that she could have suffered sickens me. None of us will never know every detail of what really happened, but the bottom line to me, is that if there are people who are willing to do whatever it takes to care for a loved one, they should be allowed to do so, and not have a security guard there to stop you from nurishing your child, as nature intended you to do as a mother. It's heart wrenching to me. The only bright side to it for me at this point is that Terri is now free from the life of prison her she was sentenced to, and hopefully the people that loved her can move on and savour the rest of their lives.

Sue: hit me with the info, got tomorrow off from the hotel.

Speaking of the hotel- Last night a guest in his mid fortys came to the front desk and asked if "we had any complimentary bathing suits." My supervisor said "no" and the man was suprised. He explained that "most hotels do and that they are disposable and made of paper!" (I wanted to reply that we used to have them but we got sued because the suit disposed of while a guest was still swimming!) Maybe this is only funny to me, and work humor but I hope someone sees it funny too! I still am picturing the dude in his paper suit, gettin ready to swim. Ever heard of these things?

Not to bring it up, but want to mention so people dont ask here-I can post again I believe thanks to 6767! Again-I apologize to those who see me as a culprit, that wasnt my intention and I learned a bit from the experience better ways to address such issues. (Ylais-i couldnt agree more!) Ill try to post ,my OUIJA board experience.
Sexsinger-ever been to "Dudleytown CT", the haunted deserted town ? May be planning a trip there with work if it is again legal to go there. To those in Cali-check out the "Winchester house", its supposed to be haunted but regardless a tour is under ten bucks and a helluva great time if your into the paranormal, architecture, history, or a rainy day tour.

LOL

Dave I know a while back you were asked about Kurt's 6-string and Dave Gilmour's amp, but what other cool stuff have you accumulated?

I've got drum heads and guitars and all kinds of crazy stuff I'm putting into my home studio so the question arose.

Hope all is well with you and the rest of the 6767ers.

Hey, Dave! I was just wondering if you're going to have anything to do with Lollapalooza this year. It could very well be a deciding factor in my attendance. ;)
