Sunday 10

Well, we had the game. Steve and I had a great time, but we cannot give anything away until the show airs. After, Steve, Riss and I went to see Constantine. The movie was awesome, the effects were amazing. It was, however, like a 2 hour antismoking PSA. An effective one at that.

1. When you wore skirts on stage, what did you wear under the skirt? boxers, briefs, short pants, thong, commando?

Black briefs with fishnets, son. The briefs keep everything together.

2. When you say your sober, is that from drugs or have you abstained from drinking?

I don't do drugs or drink.

3. Are you going to an Oscar watching party? I think I am going to my first tomorrow, not sure of the attire.

I actually have no idea what I am gonna do. The wife is in Australia, so I will probably be missing Elton's thing, it just wouldn't be the same if I went without her.

4. I checked out Steve I's site the other day and he was mentions something about someone with the nickname Gummo and I pretty much figured he was talking about you. Is this a common nickname you are known by or just kind of an inside joke among the band?

Actually, Gummo is our producer, Brian Virtue.

5. Could you guys have used the "Kettle Whistle" versions of "Ocean Size" and "Mountain Song" on the "Nothing's Shocking" album, or could you only use the versions during the NS recording sessions?

I'm sure we could have but they were just demos. Sonically, the recordings had to have a cohesiveness to live with each other on the same album, so we re-did them.

6. Hey Dave! I wonder what you think about these people saying you only care about money and not about music. Is that true?

Yeah, here's a real winner: Leave the big, arena, legacy band everyone knows to start a brand new club band that very few have even heard of. Big dollars in that!

7. Had any dabblings in the freaky world of BDSM?

Oh, for sure. More than just a phase, but in the end, just a phase.

8. With regard to usage, do you ever wonder why some people make it out as intelligent, coherent individuals (such as yourself), while others never come back from the "other side"?

I honestly don't know. It took me quite a while, myself. Sometimes, it just takes what it takes.

9. I totally agree that with tremendous respect for Carmen, a Dave/Angelina photo shoot would just be wickedly beautiful, visual poetry.

Well, I just might have to look into that. How does this sound? "Honey, it's work."

10. What are those noises right at the beginning of the Song "Everything" from your Solo album, "Trust No One"?

A sample of singer Diamanda Galas.

Well i want to be first, but i need a suitable question to ask.

So, will we ever see a recording by Dave Navarro as a solo artist ever again? Would you ever consider just doing an instrumental album?

Posted by: Six7Six7 at February 27, 2005 12:53 PM

Well, Dave, hope you did well - and hope Steve did too. I hope it airs around here.

I wanted to go see Constantine, but can't find anyone to got see it with me. Like most movies, I will probably just wait for it to come out on tape or disc and buy it!

Got some extra tickets for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this coming week - any one want to come and see our awardwinning HS production?

Hey Dave, do you ever get in a fight with Carmen and then feel bad about it after and take the initiative to apologize, or do you guys never fight. I myself am having problems with my girlfriend and I need some advice in getting past the rough times. And your book is wonderful. Thanx

Dave

I seem to keep logging on right after your posts, what's the schedule for the rest of the night ?

Hey D,

Thanks for the info on Constantine, I've always found that I agree with your movie taste. I actually watched After Hours this morning On Demand because you had mentioned it recently. I miss Movies 'n Crap!

Have you ever quit smoking before?

I did for about three months after being a smoker for ten years. There's a million reasons to quit, but the fact that I know I could do it tomorrow makes me feel better about smoking today. I'm all screwed up.

Hey Dave. I need to know something. Do you answers our questions in here, or do we send them into you? If we send them in, how do we do it? maybe someone else can tell me too.

Posted by: Shannon at February 27, 2005 01:15 PM

Dave,

Have you spoken with Perry since the split? I was wondering what he mood between the two of you is. Is there hope for another album?

Posted by: CityOf9Gates at February 27, 2005 01:17 PM

DAVE!!! Thanks for answering!! I actually went to wine tasting last night wearing outfit for party, so NOW.....oh, I think I will just stay home with pizza and Scrappy.

Shannon just put a question right here like this..

Dave, did you take an eight minute break in Shannon's bathroom?

Hi Emma!!!

Sup Dave I hoped you guys owned that lucky table that gets to see Shannon Elizabeth everyday! Not Fair!
anyways Dave I wanted to ask you

Have you ever learned theory?(Your solos are amazing)!
Do you think theory causes the player to be more technical than natural?

I would appreciate to hear your point of view on that subject.Alright Dave have fun tonite...Anything goes!
My splurge night was last nite so I better make my way to the gym.

I saw Constantine last night too! I liked it...not normally a fan of Keanu, but he did a good job in this one, plus Gavin was in it... can't beat that! ;) Glad you guys had a great time last night! Off to work, have a great day everyone =)

Constantine is not really my kind of movie..."he's been to hell and back"
i usually avoid these kind of movies cause they freak me out..even after i've seen a 'making the movie' or a 'behind the scenes'

i've just watched the last hour of 24! thank god they showed two episodes at once lately...to speed things up a bit!

last seconds of my weekend, almost monday! sweet dreams everyone

Hi jezz!

Do you know when the show will be aired?

Has TPC/Banyan got any tour schedules lined up fpr this summer?

Posted by: Gustavo at February 27, 2005 02:41 PM

Dave,

This question has been on my mind for quite a while...
You´ve met a lot of celebs and musicians... How different were they from the perception you had before - I mean the image given to you by the media?

You ever had an impression like "wow! I always thought this guy was a lot taller" or something like "She seems to be a wild girl but is really sweet when you finally meet her" ... You know , that type of thing... Were you ever shocked or disappointed in one of those celebrity encounters you had for the first time...?

Another (related) question is: Have you ever met Angelina Jolie? cos I was thinking there could be one hell of a sexy photo shoot with you and her and all your cool tattoos combined! Any chance that might happen?(I hope Carmen doesn´t get mad for me suggesting this...lol)

thanks a lot...

love from
Luiz.

briefs with fishnets... ah, I s'pose that makes sense. less chafing, too.

just a curieuse while we're on vaguely on the subject... had any dabblings in the freaky world of BDSM?

Dave...what do you think about people breaking up and getting back together, like do you think it's a good idea? I'm just curious as to your opinoin...cause I just recently got broken up with someone i really cared about...for no apparent reason...but there's definitely possibility for reconciliation. The whole thing ended very amicably etc...i'm not going to bore details.

other people can feel free to jump on the opinion bandwagon...i'd appreciate it...thanks a million. much love to everyone on Oscar sunday!

Dave,
I heard that April 1st 103.1 contract is up and that it might go under.
Please say it aint so.

No offense, Dave, but I thought Constantine was SO TERRIBLE! The effects were great, but Keanu is so...flat as an actor. I couldn't stand it. GAH!

Hey Dave...

While touring with Jane's (with the original lineup), did u guys used to rehearsal? I mean DURING the tour, not "before".

And the same question above applies to your time with the RHCP, Relapse, TNO, Jane's 2001, Jane's 2003... ?

I'm asking 'cuz I've heard and seen the RHCPs tour from Californication and on... and they sound terrible onstage, which never happened to Jane's or any of the projects mentioned above.

Also wondering...

As your interest in hip-hop has increased being with Carmen, has Carmen's interest in rock music increased as well?

"With regard to usage, do you ever wonder why some people make it out as intelligent, coherent individuals (such as yourself), while others never come back from the "other side"? "

that´s a good one - I asked a similar question a while ago. I can never get enough on this subject I fascinated by it (addicted to it...?)

Dave, do you ever get annoyed with our morbid fascination with chemicals and stuff...? if so we will stop! hope we´re not bugging you...!

much love,
Luiz.

Hey Dave, I've heard you say numerous times on this site that you're a big Nine Inch Nails fan. So I'd like to know, have you heard the upcoming album, "With Teeth"? Since you're in the industry and all, you probably have the right connections. If so, how do you like it?

Anyway.. I haven't been to the movies in a while. Maybe I'll see Constatine.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does PSA stand for?

In medicine it's Prostate-Specific Antigen.

Posted by: mortisha8 at February 27, 2005 06:49 PM

Dave saw an effective 2 hour antismoking prostate specific antigen. haha

Posted by: mortisha8 at February 27, 2005 06:51 PM

PSA = Public Service Annoucement

:)

Posted by: Theresa at February 27, 2005 07:23 PM

oh.

good lord, I should have remembered that! That's not as fun as prostate-specific antigen though.

Posted by: mortisha8 at February 27, 2005 07:32 PM

Thank you jezebel! Much appreciated.

Fake Question: Dave, How did you get to be so hot? :)

Real Question: What are those noises right at the beginning of the Song "Everything" from your Solo album, "Trust No One"?

I think the Oscars are taking their shot at Terminator, The Musical!

Posted by: Theresa at February 27, 2005 08:43 PM

Hi Dave & gang,

I hope everyone's having a lovely evening. I just watched most of the Oscars and am now going to bed and praying that it doesn't snow too much tomorrow...

EMILY - My 2 cents on the breakup thing...In general, it IS entirely possible for people to break up and then reconcile, and emerge stronger and more in love than before. But every situation is different. If somebody blatantly, shamelessly breaks your heart, is abusive, dishonest, etc... I don't think they deserve another chance. (On the flip side, I wouldn't expect someone to give ME another chance if I treated them like complete sh**.) But in short - and I know it's a cliche - if something is meant to be, it will work out in the end. Good luck to you!

Good night and stay warm!

Love,
-Denise

Hey Dave,

I read somewhere that you got some guy called Maceo in to record the trumpet for "My cat's name is Maceo" and he thought you wrote the song about him?

Also what is your opinon of people illegally downloading Jane's Addiciton, One Hot Minute and Camp Freddy songs for free?

Posted by: Slow Driver at February 27, 2005 11:37 PM

On another site (not mine) they're discussing the easiest songs to get stuck in your head. The ones that once you've heard it, or even thought of it, you're stuck the rest of the day hearing the damn thing over and over in your head.

Just wondering if you have a song like that. One of mine's "Immigrant Song." Usually that's self-inflicted, though. Good drive-to-work song to get me through the rest of the day.

Posted by: Alex at February 28, 2005 02:19 AM

Dave, it's funny but I really think most of the people who frequent your site have no idea of what level guitar player you really are, and how you fit into the true guitarist club of the last couple of decades.

Anyway, your solo's and parts are kick ass especially on Nothings Shocking and Ritual. However, I was listening to your leads and rhythm parts in detail on Ritual again, and I really feel your sound on that album is WAY, WAY too thin to of had the best impact. I have to really listen to get the full vibe, but I do realize how intense and kick ass your solo's from Ritual are, after what, 14 or 15 years listening to it. On Nothings Shocking, you had much more of a "burn" to your sound, that had alot more character and badass effect. NS had more of a Randy Rhoads tone, no? So what is your take on your tone for Ritual?

Posted by: jason leigh at February 28, 2005 02:59 AM

"I read somewhere that you got some guy called Maceo in to record the trumpet for "My cat's name is Maceo" and he thought you wrote the song about him?"

The song is about Perry´s cat named after Maceo Parker. I heard he is some kind of Motown legend or something, not just "some guy". (too bad I can´t give you more details on that - I´m white - sorry for my ignorance...)

Shall we google...?

peace and love and all that
Luiz.

Denise...thanks for your input! I always try to remember that what will be, will be. And the guy was never NEVER abusive or mean...just going through personal problems. thanks again...much love to everyone here!

Hey Dave..

Happy Monday.. this is my 1st post here. Im just checking out the site. Pretty cool!

Camp Freddy at Key Club was awesome. It was my 1st CF show. Got to meet alot of people from Indie. I got a tshirt & the painting. All for a good cause! Then at the Rainbow met Jerry, Slash & Lemmy. What a crazy night, and it was my bday!

Also caught the show at the Pond. The people around me were like "who's Camp Freddy", when you guys got onstage they were all standing up in awww.. It was really cool to see their reaction.

Im off to see Motley Crue in NYC on 3/3. I hope its worth it to freeze my ass off. Then to Vegas to catch them at the Joint in a few weeks. So, I have a question.. I plan on getting a tattoo at H&H.. I've searched forever for some type of cross symbol that I like. I love TPC symbol. Can you tell me does it mean anything in particular?

Thanks Dave.. are you ready for some more rain this week in LA??

Posted by: Tracy at February 28, 2005 05:57 AM

hey dave.
a question i've always wanted to ask you. i am in love with the solo on 'mountain song'(NS version). the effects used on it are so perfect and i was wondering how that came about back then, did you splice different takes together w/effects, or just use one take? it's one of those things that i never get tired of hearing. have a great day dave!

Posted by: sonicdeath at February 28, 2005 06:23 AM

Good morning Dave, good morning family!!

So, Dave, did you catch Carlos at the Oscars with my man, Antonio? What did you think, I think a Camp Freddy invite is in order, you guys could tear up Black Magic Woman!!!

love to all
jezebel(I likeded it, again!)

"Dave, it's funny but I really think most of the people who frequent your site have no idea of what level guitar player you really are, and how you fit into the true guitarist club of the last couple of decades."

Actually, quite the contrary... This is one of the key reasons I became such a fan. I admit that since I don't play guitar, I'm no expert when it comes to technique, equipment, effects, etc. But I know great music when I hear it. You don't have to be an expert to recognize when someone is playing an instrument with their heart and soul, and to be moved and inspired by it.

The other stuff... his beauty, style, personality, charm, blogs and websites... Are all wonderful bonuses.

Regards,
-Denise

Posted by: Denise at February 28, 2005 06:46 AM

Hey Jezzi -
Antonio & Carlos... OMG! Did you guys see that?

I just have to give my two cents about this (as usual!) I gotta be honest... It was a nice idea in theory, and Carlos played beautifully, as always... Antonio wasn't bad... but the two of them just didn't gel. It sounded like two different songs playing at the same time. I was actually embarrased for them.

They should've just had the original guy sing it, IMHO.

-D

Posted by: Denise at February 28, 2005 06:56 AM

oh, I must admit, dear Denise, I was watching more than listening, and it was very touching when the actual writer of the song sang part of it in his acceptance speech...but...saying that, I still believe they would make a good combo for Camp Freddy...

jezzi(did i mention I likeded it)

Posted by: jezebel at February 28, 2005 07:58 AM

Q DAVE,

May I ask why you don't drink please?

I hardly drink at all now as I've gotten more and more
healthy, but I do slip from time to time.

What is it about drink that made you not indulge?

so when dave gives us the radio app to play on our computers, is that like a podcast? i.e. can you play it on your ipod?

Posted by: joel at February 28, 2005 08:40 AM

Hey Jezzi... Please don't think I was dissing Carlos S. I just think the performance was awkward and unrehearsed and overkill. But I love him and think he would be an awesome CF guest!

Posted by: Denise at February 28, 2005 08:55 AM

Denise...I didn't think that at all, mon chere, but, the mental image of Antonio, Carlos, Dave, and Billy, with a smattering of Dono, yummy....
