Monday & The Rain
Well, we wrapped up the two weeks in the studio last night. We are now gonna take a week or so to continue writing and plan on going back in to finish up on the 7th. We finally have rough mixes of what the entire album will sound like and I am extremely proud of it. I think we all are. Of course, if there are some better tracks to be recorded, we will do it on the 7th. Sometimes when you are in the creative flow this deep, ideas and songs just start to evolve out of nowhere. We are looking to have plenty of B-sides and extra material for whatever. Today, however, is all about relaxation and rest as I have an unrelated gig tonight. It is raining here and I love it. Perfect weather for Zeppelin 3 & 4 or any Sabbath album. The soundtrack for the rain. I have missed going in for CFR and plan on returning next week. The shows have been great with Billy and Donovan. It's fun for me to be able to listen to them as a listener, rather than being a participant all the time.

Dave,
¿Has Matt Sorum received any phone calls since his number was posted on the Paris Hilton phone book website?
¿Have you told him that his number was published?
Later,

Dave, do you think there is a double standard with celebrities who admit to using drugs, but are not arrested, like Snoop?
Posted by: americanzer0 at February 21, 2005 01:02 PM
I hope the gig is worth going out in the rain for!
Rainy days are more enjoyable when you don't have to be out with the morons who suddenly lose the ability to drive when it rains.
Have a nice day, everyone!

Hey Dave, I could have sworn I saw you for a split second in the promo for the Punk'd season. Are you going to be on that show?
Posted by: Chris at February 21, 2005 01:06 PM
Plenty of B-sides?
i don't like the sound of that.
CDs hold 80 minutes of music. I say put at least 14 tracks on the album. It's long, but not too long.

Hope you have a good day today Dave. Love ya!

hey dave, enjoy your day off! just a quick question about rexall, does the outro at all remind you of the stuff off of mechanical animals? if so what would you attribute this to? the involvement of so many of the same people(i.e. danny saber, you, jeordie)? its a great sound, very layered, heavy and chaotic i love it!
and im a new 6767-er haha and i just wanted to say that its really cool and nice of you to answer peoples questions, it goes along way, haha my mom even thinks your cool! and im pretty sure she knows who you are haha....i did drag her to lollapalooza in seattle so..she should :) thanks again dave

Hey Dave, great CFR benefit concert in anaheim...just letting you know that there was another 6767er in the audience. Also, your book has showed me so much about life and it has had a huge impact on me, I can definately say it has changed my life for the better. Anyways, on to question 1.. I just moved in with my girlfriend and everything is great besides the little annoyances that any couple will experience, I was just wondering if you and Carmen ever get in mini fights for any little reason and for what reasons, and how long before you guys are talking again. Thanx so Much.. Dave from Burbank

I hate rain
I hate snow
I hate work
Today has consisted of all 3 of these, I hate today.
You really love the rain dont you Dave, you should sooo move to England. However, you wouldnt like it for long, you'd soon be having the curtains shut all day with the lights on and sipping a cup-a-tea.
Cant wait till the disk is out!

YESTERDAY WAS THE 2ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE TRAGIC STATION NIGHT CLUB FIRE IN WARWICK RI, WHERE 100 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES AND 200 MORE WERE INJURED. I FOUND IT DISAPPOINTING THAT MOSTLY ALL THE POSTS HAD TO DO WITH WHETHER BLINK 182 BROKE UP.

if you did see me tara i was wearing a home made 30 seconds to mars t shirt haha such a great day, probably my favorite concert ever! but yeah, that venue is something, i have been twice since and it always smells....special, supposedly the farmers pile up the stuff just to bug concert goers...it obviously works :) if lolla comes back i hope it goes to the gorge, cant beat that one.
hey dave, if perry asked you would panic channel ever play lolla?

"I hate rain
I hate snow
I hate work
Today has consisted of all 3 of these, I hate today."
That's how I was feeling this morning. I'm snowed in, working from home on what is supposed to be a US holiday. (President's Day.) Ugh.
But the day has gotten better. I'm in a semi-groove now... Like Dave, I'm cranking some rock tunes, and trying to bang out some work. Music always seems to make everything better. :) Only a little while more to go until the whistle blows.
I wish Dave and everyone else a peaceful, lovely day. And a moment of silence for the folks that we lost... (Thx for the reminder, Kevin.)
Love,

dave:
i want to ask about how you conect your effects(the order) live, especial the digital delay, do you conect it before or after the distortion, and if you use the amp distortion do you conect it into the effects input? because you know, to use the amp distor and the delay conected normally sounds to repetitive to me.
o also want to know if its gona be available any dvd of the janes addiction strays tour. thanks
Posted by: sergio at February 21, 2005 02:16 PM
basically david, you hate blink because Travis' show is being aired on MTV and yours is cancelled, you suck. people saying blink suck live... how? have you heard them? thats right they are shit, can't hold a beat, travis never practices, and tom and mark can't get a crowd jumping or nothing *raises one eyebrow* i dont care if you apologised and i dont care if this comment is slated as 'immature', i am 18 years old and have liked blink since the release of dude ranch, am i an 11 year old girl?? i study guitar and i appreciate 'good' music that holds talent, and although blinks guitar work doesn't possess any overwhelming talents, they have persuaded thousands of people to pick up and play, so they cannot be to shit really.
yeh im immature, im 11, i dont know ANYTHING about music... o yeh, i heard janes addiction split up.... AGAIN

Bryce,
Yes and if you saw me, I was wearing crappy GAP outlet clothes as the weather was not as fashionable as my wardrobe. I needed to pick something up cheap as I only packed shorts, t's and I forgot my coat. Ah good old auburn outlet stores!!
Did you go to the free show the next night in Portland? We couldn't as I had to spend the next day driving 12 hrs to get home to work the following day. My travel companion and I could not believe how SLOW the traffic was getting out of the parkinglot. We ended up spending a cold night in the back of my pick-up and I left my lights on. Thanks to a fellow Canuk from Vancouver we got a boost, we got home and I got to work.
RE: the Gorge at George!!! I can't think of a better concert venue along the West. The Gorge is sweet!

Glad to hear you've got a day off. Today was my first day back at school after the half term (yes, i'm only 15 :() but it started snowing when i came home. woo! Hopefully we'll get a snow day tomorrow. It rains all the time where I am but luckily I love the rain too. There's something clensing about it, but snow does make a nice change. Especially if we get a snow day ^_^
Have an excellent Monday everyone, and enjoy that well deserved day off!

i cant say i did see you :( and no i didnt get to go to portland either, i was 14 at the time and neither of my parents wanted to drive me (i suppose understandably) and yeah! it took us 3 hours to get out of that parking lot! ahh i have the best parking lot story EVER!
So we had already been waiting for like an hour and we are all merging and stuff, when all of a sudden these guys drive by us, probably seniors or of that age, and so everyone has been nice and patient, and these guys are just trying to cut! so of course naturally they do it in front of my moms car and they come about 2 inches from hitting her! so i was like, ok, you know what, im gonna get out of the car and stand in front of theirs so they cant hit her. (yes, it was late, i know this was the worst idea in the world) So the line starts to move a little and my mom moves farther away from their car, but i wasnt paying attention to the line, so i didnt know, and then the guys started pretending like they were gonna hit me and stuff (and being 14 and big mouthed as i am) i dared them too and i was like "if you hit me your going to jail!" and all that stuff, so one of the guys gets out of the car and im just like...oh shit im fucked now haha, and i was shouting and stuff, dont touch me or im claiming assualt and finding a cop, and naturally the guy being a prick starts shovin me hella hard, and the other dudes are shouting at me out the windows of their car at me, just insults and what not. well by now my mom see's whats going on and flips haha it was so awesome, she flew out of the car, got up to the guy and SHOVES him onto the hood and is like "dont you ever touch my son!" (mind you my mom is the nicest woman ever, she would never hurt anyone or yell at them, i had NEVER seen her so mad.) and so the other guys get out of the car like some shit is gonna go down (being 14 and small i was so scared what would happen next, but in restrospect i bet my mom could have taken them, she was pissed!) and then out of the surrounding cars like 6 guys (who i later found out were from canada and oregon) come up (all in there 20's) and are like, we saw whats goin down, and if you guys have shit with these 2 (my mom and i) you have shit with all of us. haha it was so cool, they of course backed down and we had a party with everyone the rest of the time just swapping cars and talking about the day, and other good music, turned out to be such a savior, that would have been the most boring sit in the parking lot ever! thanks to those guys wherever they are...haha oh and the guys that tried to cut ended up going even farther up in line and tried to cut again and up there a bunch of people got out and started rocking their car and stuff, i couldnt beleive those guys! but yeah, still most definatly the best concert experience ive had to date.
alright im done with story time. :)

Here in san diego we had some major floods in mission valley i spent the whole day there watching the river take over the fashion valley mall and surrounding parking lots and hotels. It reminded me of some tsunami footage i saw on the internet.

WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT AN AUTOGRAPHED THIS/THAT/THE OTHER FROM YOU DAVE, IF YOU SIGNED A PRS WOULD THEY THEN PLAY IT, IF YOU SIGNED A BOOK, WOULD IT EVER GET READ? AFTER BEING A FAN OF YOU/YOUR BANDS OVER THE LAST 17 YEARS(I WAS 13 YEARS OLD THE DAY I BOUGHT NOTHING SHOCKING, LIVING COLOURS VIVID AND UPLIFT,IN 1988)THERE ARE ONLY 2 THINGS I WOULD LIKE FROM YOU......
A) DON'T GO BACK DOWN THE PATH OF SELF DESTRUCTION NO MATTER WHERE YOUR LIFE TAKES YOU...YOU'VE COME TOO FAR
B) KEEP ON CRANKING OUT THE MUSIC THAT BROUGHT US ALL HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!
ONE QUESTION ON YOUR TIME WITH THE CHILI'S THOUGH. THEY DID A COVER OF KISS' COLD GIN(SUPPOSEDLY) THAT WAS THEN NEVER USED ON THE KISS TRIBUTE ALBUM. WERE YOU PART OF THE LINE UP THAT RECORDED IT? IF NO WHO WAS, AND WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE. YOUR FAVOURITE ACE FREHLEY SOLO/LICK?

Dave,
You've probably already answered this, but when do you reckon the Panic Channel album will be released? Should be the high point of a great year of music for me and my mates here in the UK!
Oh...and backing up what the other British guy said, will you be doing an individual tour of the UK with the Channel this year, or just playing the festivals?
Posted by: James at February 22, 2005 08:50 AM
Hello, Patricia and Tonto. Isnt it funny how are feelings/thoughts kinda get easily misinterprited when transcribed over the internet. I could write the most sarcastic commment and noone would know it was meant that way. I definately see where you both are coming from, if I had a choice of a signed or unsigned book Id choose the first. Mines not signed, maybe someday it will be, if so it was probably fate (meant to happen). No extra efforts on my part though in this case. After all those blink 182 comments, we need a 6767 moderator. Send me a special keyboard with a panic button when shit doesnt belong, and I could make it disappear! But thats censorship, so maybe its not a good idea. What if I moderate in moderation? No..no good. I really liked that one post "you lost me as your fan for typing that....theres some dedication to the artist! If your not judging the artist on their music, your stupid cause most likely your getting second hand info. Its like Phil Spector, it my eyes hes a genius.....also a murderer on trial....but still a genius. So do I like Phil Spector? Yes. He made an impact on music (wall of sound, ect). Is he scum?
Seems like it, but I never met the dude!
Talkin nonesense...again!
Boot-n-down
Posted by: boots at February 22, 2005 08:54 AM
Boots~
I know what you mean about a mod..but I also disagree with censorship. I see what you are saying about Phil's contributions to music. You don't necessarily need to respect someone to appreciate their impact. As for me asking for the book to get signed, I am doing it because..what are the odds of me running into Dave on the street one day, book in hand? Not likely. I do believe in fate, but what if me finding this blog was fate in itself?
Posted by: Patricia at February 22, 2005 09:01 AM
If a topic came up where you really think another band/musician sucks, would you let us know? Can you be truly honest/open here or do you have to worry about upsetting people with thoughts/comments/replys? I hope if you get to hear my band and you think we suck, you would tell me! Maybe your just super-respectful to others, but I dont know ya, so thats why I ask. PM me if you dont want to reply here at TPC.

I think that you should be able to say whatever you feel in a tactful, honest way. Because you don't like or disagree with something does not give you the right to attac others like some people were doing a few days ago. With the example of your band, I would be honest with you..I would tell you what I thought might be better or that you might want to focus on. That would make more sense than me saying "You're an Idiot, you suck." Constructive criticism goes a long way, tact, too.
Posted by: Patricia at February 22, 2005 09:08 AM
Oh, shit...I forgot to address that last post. Like I said, internet can jumble are thoughts and things we meant to say. The post is a question for Dave. Im wondering if he can be honest here about stuff like other bands he doesnt dig, or people that are asses. I hope dave reads it and it makes sense now that Ive clarified! Sorry Patricia! Arrrgh

Yo Dave. Do everyone a favour and quit with spreading the stories of Blink splitting up. Whether it is true or not, wait for an official announcement before you start saying what you've been told. It's only gonna make matters worse. I'm not fuckin' with you or anythin. I just think it's all for the best unless you want some 12 year old kid saying they married Tom and can't believe he's left them. Anyhow. peace out homedawg.

OOPS, didnt see it posted already. How does it feel Dave to have your blog breaking news around the net like it does?

Wow...such POWER Dave!!! You, apparently, are the voice and authority on pretty much any and all subjects!
I'm turned on! ;)

just thought I would share a funny story with yu guys. I saw Jane's two Decembers ago in Houston (great show). After it was over, we walked back to our car and spotted the limos waiting by a stage door. Soon Dave and Carmen(who, dammit looks as hot in person) got into the limo. And while I was standing there awestruck, someone was trying to make there way past me; I turned around to see Mr. Stephen Perkins with a huge smile. He had completely missed the roped off area walked right through the crowd. He looked at me and said, "Shit, I went out the wrong door." Adorable.

Yeah!!! Can we now finally put this Blink drama to rest?
Hope everyone is well.
Dave, if you could, let us know what you think of Kim and Kelly Deal. Every work with them?
Sending my love into the universe!
