Monday morning

I was cleaning my hard drive last night and wopke up feeling generous... I feel like sharing something with you all. Here it is:

http://www.geocities.com/luizmarcondesblog3/Shadow.mp3

I think the guitar solo has a lil Navarro inspiration going on. I wrote the song and sang it, guitar was played by my buddy C337. (no, he is NOT a robot)

comments anyone...?

love to all

"Yeah, here's a real winner: Leave the big, arena, legacy band everyone knows to start a brand new club band that very few have even heard of. Big dollars in that!"

I've been meaning to comment on this. I've seen Jane's play live at some big venues and they were all amazing shows, but no comparison to seeing your first TPC show up close at the Dragonfly (9/21). (The last Jane's show I had to watch from the big screen because our seats were way off in the horizon, but this was clearly not the case at the Dragonfly based on my picture below. What a different perspective to say the least, so thanks Dave for an awesome experience and show!)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/44443937@N00/629814/

However, I remember you once saying that major source of money (income) comes from touring vs. record sales, which I thought was really interesting. So, I guess I understand better the reasoning for bands hitting up the big cities / big venues. I hope you guys can always fit in the small club shows because they're flat out a real treat! On that note, I think I'm ready to catch another long weekend flight to LA to see another TPC or even CF show, plus get the heck away from this crazy Michigan snow!! (Sorry for taking up space as that was a long post for me.)

OMG! Dave, or Mr.Navarro, you rule! thanks for answering my question about those noises at the beginning of Everything! thats so awesome, and actually I have another question for you, if this is ok.

Would you ever consider going to schools and talking to students about music and starting a career in not only music (band wise) but like Producing, mixing, and all the other technical things that are also involved in it? You seem like you know a lot about it. Not only that, but would you ever come to Canada and other countries and speak in the schools there if you actually considered doing it?

Since im pretty sure Dave is pro no drugs now. If you want to see an awesome movie were drugs lead people down strang and erie paths watch "Requiem for a Dream". What is with Steve I ?

You are so great, and take the time to answer questions from me and your other fans. He never answers anyone and then on his latest post dissed the
Counting Crows,
I was looking forward to the PC but he is turning me off,

Any thoughts for a loyal DN fan ?

Posted by: Dave at February 28, 2005 06:46 PM

to the Dave up above, hope you don't mind a fellow loyal DN fan commenting.

Steve I has answered people's questions on his blog and on the Panic Channel message board. Why does his blog have to be like Dave's with questions and answers? And besides, Dave doesn't answer every single question. How can he?
Steve is quite approachable and even took the time to hang out with some of us after a Panic Channel show.
As far as the Counting Crows go, I believe that was a simply a joke (said with love) about Duritz' haircut and not the group itself. More so, the point I think he was trying to make was that too much Beyonce is not fair to other artists. A legitimate point I think.
In any case, he certainly is entitled to his own opinion.

Requiem for a Dream is my all time favorite movie...i saw it two years ago...it literally changed my life! i wasn't the same after viewing it...i can't believe ellen burstyn didn't win for that role..."i'm alone harry...i'm old and i'm alone"...heartbreaking...i STRONGLY STRONGLY recommend that movie to any and everyone here

I love your answer! You're the shit!

Posted by: Jenn at March 1, 2005 12:41 AM

Hi Emily,

Yes I agree, not many films leave such an impact on me, that one certainly scared the crap out of me! One of the greatest anti-drug films of ALL time, it should be required viewing in all junior high & high schools.

Everyone in the movie gave stellar performances. They became their characters.

The movie had a very strong anti-drug message, it certainly wasn't glamorised. Some found it heavy handed, sometimes that's the only way you can deal with getting your message across....hit people over the head with it! Make drug abuse one of the most unappealing things one can get involved in, which it is.

Ellen Burstyn was fantastic, a once in a lifetime role & performance. Who did she lose to that year? Julia Roberts, Paltrow? Neither one of them could have handled that role!

Yes, she should have won! They would have had future chances to win.

take care,
itanja

Posted by: itanja at March 1, 2005 01:37 AM

firstly, i want to say thank-you for being an awesome guitarist :P the biggest compliment i've ever received was that apparently i play like you. :) two questions,
1) what is the best guitar (for you) that you have ever played
2) what do you think of the linkin park cover of 'jane says'?

I apologized to Steve on his board also.

Mornin'!

I agree with Emily and Itanja about Requiem and Ellen B's performance. Phenomenal. All she wanted to do is lose a few pounds, fit into her dress, fulfill her dream of being on TV... Ugh! Heartbreaking!!

I thought it was interesting (and important) that they showed how the elderly are just as prone to addiction as the young... Maybe even moreso, since doctors are more than happy to prescribe meds up the wazoo. Just because something's legal doesn't make it safe...

On that happy note, back to work...

Posted by: Denise at March 1, 2005 07:13 AM

On a happier (really) note, a heads-up... I saw a promo for some new Hollywood Hold-Em show on the E! channel. It will be on at 10 PM, I forget which night. I didn't see Dave, but I assume that this is the show he's referring to...

Posted by: Denise at March 1, 2005 07:16 AM

Are you a friend of Bill? I am, and a lot of your comments pertaining to drugs/alcohol are common in circles of people who are Bill's friend... Those people continue to save my life every day.

Posted by: Ryan S at March 1, 2005 08:16 AM

Hey everyone, I really feel blessed. About a half hour ago my car went off the road around a corner on an unplowed road. I hit a tree with my mirror, but I drive an 04 Impala with folding mirrors and got off with no wounds and a couple scratches on the mirror. So close to injury and a totalled car! Thank heavens. Motley Crue played in CT last night-I can tell yas what I heard bout the show on the radio. Im not a big fan, but if your interested in the show email me or PM me at boots on TPC community!

"Requiem for a Dream": makes a dope feign think, makes those without addiction think and understand. A powerful message that doesnt just focus on drugs but addiction in general. "Kids" was a good movie, its scary that I found it so realistic to city life which is a shame.

Ryan S.-I agree you can see some AA influence in some of the responses. That program really has put me on the right path. Ive worked really hard, the group I go to even accepts that Im on methadone and encourages me to get anniversary chips. NA wont let me speak, even though I never mention Methadone because I dont think that would benefit the program or others. Its a shame the stance they take on a medication that is helping to save my life. My own slogan is "keep the cotton outta the spoon" because the whole in the mouth thing bugged me cause Im shy and struggle with sharing.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their concern yesterday. I was in a really bad car accident in 97(car flipped 6-9times, left bed ridden for a month) and yesterday shook me. The car was not totalled at all, even that mirror that hit a sign is in good condition. The cars a 2005 red Impala-standard motor. Bought with 32,000 miles for $9,500. For the price they are an excellent choice! Dave should pick one up for shits n giggles!

WCCCC out of Hartford really ragged on Motley Crue the other day. (know some fans are here) To be honest I never dug em but what they said was they anticipated a rocker of a show, which is true since they hyped it so much. Anyway they were disappointed....one comment was three songs into show they started getting the crowd to do an arena chant (left vs right thing, which they said was a cool 80s move but seemed rushed and kinda lame for the beginning of a show! They also made fun of Mick Mars saying he's got a condition of "old", actually macular degeneration and a hip replacement or so, but were laughing how crippled he was as if he rolled outta a nursing home. There was more, but to sum it up they were disappointed and left early. Guys that wont leave the bar early during a good conversations. Hope I was sincere in my reporting, just what I heard from a pretty genuine radio station, although I have told one dj-Craig "the pornstar" to suck a dick up till he hiccups but anyway....

Question: What role does NYC and the East Coast play for TPC....the future...now for record deals....concentrating in LA? Just curious when will see ya out this way.

Sincerly

Hi everyone! Thanks for the non-leap year birthday wishes yesterday!

Jezebel-Sounds like you're an awesome teacher! My 1st grader got to wear his pj's to schools today and they are doing many fun Seuss activites! Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Have to wish another special guy a Happy Birthday too! Today is Jon Bon Jovi's birthday! ;-)

Gotta go rest up before I go to volunteer at the after school science class! They tired me out last week!

PS.....Boots....I didn't know they still made the Impalas in Red! Thought they stopped that color. I never see red ones around....Mine's 4 yr old LS and just has 33,000 miles so there's really no need for new one yet (and the body style hasn't changed), BUT...there's always the desire! I love the SS, but I love RED and they don't make that model in red so I'm holding out!

Howard seems like a great guy, ever been on the show? Friends? This morning they were talkin bout Outkast n Howard goes "Andre 3000, I like that dude"-it really made me smile and sounded sincere but funny. I like how Howard sticks to his guns!
